Hemp for the True American Victory
One of the first things about marijuana history that the American public still doesn t understand is that
cannabis, was once very legal to grow in the United States. In fact, up until 1883 it was one of the
largest agricultural crops in the world, including America.(The Union) But it wasn t grown for the
psychoactive plant cannabis sativa. Cannabis hemp, which carries a fraction of the amount of THC,
(the compound in marijuana that attributes to the high feeling) was and is used all over the world,
producing the overall majority of Earth s fiber, fabric, paper, and medicines.(Herer,20) Hemp has a
deep American History as well, from the gardens of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin to the
8,327 American hemp plantations counted in the 1850 census.(Herer,15) Yet the Federal government
now recognizes cannabis as a Schedule I drug with no medical value, and 23 States have legalized
cannabis for medicinal use. (The Union) Even though some western states such as Oregon and
Colorado are making legal changes to marijuana policy at the state level, the most beneficial
marijuana law we could pass is and always has been the Nationwide legalization of industrial
Cannabis Hemp.
Hemp was legal tender in most of the Americas from 1631 to the early 1800s, you could buy anything
with hemp, even pay taxes. (Herer, 1) The first law passed on Marijuana in the

How Does Liam O Flaherty Use Figurative Language In The...
This story follows a sniper and his fight to survive a day in the Irish civil war. The setting takes place
in Dublin, Ireland around the battle of the Four Courts, which does take place in history. The sniper,
settled on a rooftop, tries to relax, but soon fights for his life against an armored car and more
importantly against another sniper. In The Sniper by Liam O Flaherty, symbolism and figurative
language exemplify that civil war divides a whole country, not just any one group of people or
soldiers.
O Flaherty s use of symbolism allows this story to encompass a whole country in its talk of division
while only having four characters. The two analogous snipers contain similarities to each other in their
locations, actions, mannerisms, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A historical allusion lies in this text as a reference to the Irish civil war between the Republicans and
the Free Staters. The Sniper takes place in Dublin, Ireland, but this means nothing unless it takes place
like it does during ...the Irish civil war of the early 1920s (Korb 225). This allusion to the civil war in
Ireland acts as a great reference to history while trying to communicate the idea of how civil war
divides an entire country as a whole. The reason that this allusion communicates so well lies in the
fact that it brings the mind to reality, instead of viewing The Sniper as a made up story. In this story
exists a situational irony that comes across as the biggest point of the story, in which a sniper kills his
brother. Out of the entire story the biggest point ...emphasizes one of the greatest ironies of civil war:
Brother is pitted against brother (Shuman 3). This acts as situational irony because no one expects that
the enemy sniper could turn out as the brother of the Republican sniper. This irony shows how war
does not only affect the soldiers but their families as well because they have to suffer the death of their
children. Finally, the fact that The Sniper takes place in Dublin at the Four Courts represents with
imagery what happens there, how civil war destroys the people s history and culture. The fighting of
the Irish civil war takes place in the streets of Dublin for a while and ...around the beleaguered Four
Courts where the heavy guns roar[] (O Flaherty 1). The way that this shows how the entire country
becomes affected, exists in how the Four Courts lay under siege with cannons firing around them. The
people s culture and history becomes destroyed by being under siege and thus indirectly does hurt the
people of Ireland. Allusion, situational irony, and imagery all assist the message that civil war affects

Emotional Change In Macbeth
In the tragedy of Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, a Scottish general named Macbeth
receives a prophecy from three witches that tells him one day he will become King of Scotland. Due
to the pressures from his wife and his own ambition, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the
Scottish throne for himself. Soon after, Macbeth is tormented with guilt and paranoia forcing him to
commit more and more murders to protect himself from suspicion and to keep his power. The result of
the murders eventually takes Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into the realms of madness and death. The
main character, Macbeth, undergoes a series of emotional changes that represents the complexity of
human being behaviour in certain circumstances that involve quick decisions ... Show more content on

In act three Macbeth begins to grow more jealous of Banquo because it is his sons that are to succeed
the throne from Macbeth. Macbeth says, Upon my head they placed a fruitless crown and put a barren
scepter in my grip, thence to be wrenched with an unlineal hand, no son of mine succeeding. If t be so,
for Banquo s issue have I filed my mind; for them the gracious Duncan have I murdered; put rancors
in the vessel of my peace only for them; and mine eternal jewel given to the common enemy of man,
to make them kings, the seed of Banquo kings! Rather than so, come fate into the list, and champion
me to th utterance. Who s there? (Macbeth III.i). To Macbeth this is not fair because he was the one
that murdered the King, it should be his children(even though Macbeth has no children, yet) to get the
throne not Banquo s. This leads Macbeth to commit yet another murder although this time he does not
do the deed himself. Macbeth hires three murderers to kill both Banquo and his son Fleance. He tells
the murderers, Both of you Know Banquo was your enemy. So is he mine; and in such bloody
distance that every minute of his being thrusts against my near st of life. And though I could with
barefaced power sweep him from my sight and bid my will avouch it, yet I must not, for certain

Why Did the Treaty of Maastricht Mark a Milestone in...
Why did the Treaty of Maastricht mark a milestone in creating a political union?
The Treaty of Maastricht, formerly known as the Treaty of the European Union came at a pivotal time
in European history. Eastern Europe was a victim of the collapse of Communism, which had a strong
impact on the European Commission (EC) as this meant new potential markets were open which they
were keen to take over (Bache, 2001:124). However, the collapse of Communism in the Soviet Union
meant that there was unsettlement in the east. During the same period of time there was possibility for
reunification in Germany. This was looked upon with great caution because many feared that this
could cause Germany Nationalism to ignite again. Due to these events ... Show more content on

For instance, the European Parliament now had the ability to veto legislation. Other institutional
changes saw the formation of a Committee of Regions and the Court of Justice be given the right to
fine member states that were not complying with its judgments (Bieler, 2009:Lecture 4). Moreover,
there were pivotal policy changes as it introduced education, public health, the environment and
consumer protection, again to promote Europe s supranational qualities.
Maastricht carried on to emphasize the necessity of European integration and the head s of
government agreed that this would be achieved by a three pillar structure. The three pillars were the
EC pillar (economic and social affairs), and the intergovernmental pillars of Common Foreign and
Security Policy (CFSP) and Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) (Bache, 2001:124).
The following diagram clearly explains each pillar and was they do:

Battle Between Good and Evil
The Battle Between Good and Evil The conflict between good and evil is universal to the human
condition. It is a theme common to both history and literature. In 1866 Joseph Roux wrote, Evil often
triumphs, but never conquers . In Mercy Among the Children by David Richards, the Henderson
family suffers many injustices, and is exposed to evil in many forms. Roux s statement can be
analyzed through the examination of the characters, including the Henderson s themselves and those
who most deeply affect them. If anyone personifies evil in this novel, it is Mat Pit. Raised in a poor
and abusive environment (Richards 294), he and his sister Cynthia are driven by ambition with dreams
of escaping the circumstances of their youth. Mat is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a compassionate side has come to care for Mat in his last hours. She reveals to Lyle she owes the
Henderson family a great debt. Her daughter s life was saved when she received a donor heart from
Lyle s younger brother Percy. Lyle senses her change, stating, Cynthia put her hand on my shoulder
and tears streamed from her eyes. In a way all of us were joined that moment. ... I looked at the cross
on her neck, as if I was ashamed of everything in my life. The cross symbolizes her embracing the
teaching of the church, and the good conquering the evil. Lyle seeing the good in her feels ashamed of
how he let evil triumph in his past life. Lyle starts out as a morally good character. He sees his family
suffer many injustices; his father falsely accused of murder (118), and his mother accused of theft and
his sister treated as an outcast. Lyles father Sydney has adopted a stance of pacifism, and believes
strongly in the values of the church and literature. In the beginning of the novel, Lyle shares his father
s beliefs and will not fight to defend the honour of his family. When his sister Autumn is treated as on
outcast, she hides behind Lyle for protection, but Lyle does not use violence to defend her, because my
father had drilled into me the vanity and falseness of violence. So I turned away ashamed, and endured

The Myth Of The Werewolf
The Myth Of The Werewolf

The myths and lore of the werewolf (http://www.livescience.com/24412 werewolves.html) had caught
the imagination of not only the German public, but the whole of Europe during the medieval times.
Such was the fear of this dreaded creature that people were burned at stake on mere suspicion of being
a werewolf, much like the infamous witch hunts.
It was the author, Johannes Fridericus Wolfeshusius (http://www.worldcat.org/identities/lccn n2012

Pros And Cons Of The Renaissance
One of the three main discoveries that will be discussed is early applications of linear perspective and
this will be shown through representing the body, representing space and the body in space.
During the Renaissance period the world saw a great blend between art and science and because of
this the era was coined the term Scientific Renaissance period. The great advances that happened was
discovered in the fields of geography, astronomy, physics, mathematics, manufacturing, engineering,
anatomy and astronomy. In this period ancient scientific text were rediscovered and during 1453 and
after the Fall of Constantinople which was the capture of the capital of the Byzantine Empire by an
invading army of the Ottoman Empire. The invention of printing would enable people to democratize
learning and allow a faster propagation of new ideas. Some people see the renaissance as one that
caused scientific backwardness. One of these people were George Sarton who argued that scientific
progress was slowed for a period of time. Some of the positive influences of the Renaissance was the
rediscovery of lost texts and the increased emphasis on the study of language.
According to Khanacademy.com What renaissance artists had clearly achieved through the careful
observation of nature, including studies of anatomical dissections, was the means to recreate the 3
dimensional physical reality of the human form on two dimensional surfaces. In part, the key to this
achievement lay in

Should Animals Be Kept In Zoos Essay
Zoos are the places where animals are kept. Some people argue that animals shall not be kept in zoos
as they deserve freedom. Zoos cannot provide them with enough space, therefore, they cannot run
around so as to grow up freely.
On the other hand, some people argue that animals should be kept in zoos. Nowadays, forests and
mountains have been cut down by people. If we leave animals alone, they might have nowhere to find
food and nowhere to live. It is for the sake of the animals themselves that we keep them in the zoos.

The larger animals seemed to go quietly about their business but the animal that caught my attention
was the adult elephant that seemed to be pacing up and down out of boredom. This is understandable
because even though the park has given the elephants massive amounts of green space to themselves,
in the wild they are used to hundreds and hundreds of miles that become their domain. The equivalent
would be like placing a human under house arrest.
The more dangerous animals like lions and tigers are also given their own large enclosures and people
can view them from behind a glass screen. Their focus on that day was on keeping out of the sun by
lying under shady trees and Izmir zoo is very much backing the stance that if you do not get to see an
animal then you should return at a different time. They are not forcing the animals into any ridiculous
side shows involving party tricks and silly costumes.
Animals aside, the park does give a lot of information to visitors about the animal that they are seeing
and two days within a week are dedicated to educational tours for children. This is to describe the
traits, natural habitat and eating routines of an animal. It is quite plain to see that the park aims to keep
its animals in the best conditions possible however this does not distract from the moral and ethically
question of Should animals should be kept in

Kiwi Forest Birds
Before pests were introduced into New Zealand, it was home to thousands of birds and these all
evolved without the threat of predatory land mammals. Except for two species of bat, there were no
land mammals in New Zealand before humans arrived. Because of this, plants and animals did not
evolve defence mechanisms or any way to protect themselves from the predators. For instance, the
leaves of plants do not contain poisons to deter browsing mammals, while many birds and insects have
lost their ability to fly. Possums, rats, stoats, ferrets and feral cats all kill adult birds, their chicks and
raid their nests for eggs. They are also major competitors for sometimes wiping out entirely critical

the population of local birds if not carried out with enough care. There have been individuals found

Sexual Abuse And Domestic Violence
People who experience sexual abuse or domestic violence always blame themselves due to guilt and

 Thinking that the police wouldn t be able to help
 Dread of being treated badly by others or looked down upon
 Scared of legal procedures
 Not having enough evidence to prove the incident
 Not being aware of the reporting system (Lievore 2003)

Business Management And The Future Business Model
Introduction
Since the beginning of the twentieth century has seen a growing interest in entrepreneurial activities
and to the characteristics of governance models. This news is not surprising, since many areas of
human activity understand that when using the correct scientific approach to the organization of the
production process can be achieved the highest productivity. A number of key issues arise from the
statement. For instance, entrepreneurship despite its relatively short period of time has passed a long
way of evolution from a rather banal management practices to modern and innovative technologies
and methods of business management. Business management can be considered a system of economic
analysis of the company. Therefore, the strategy of operation and development of any enterprise is
impossible without competent use of principles, methods, forms and techniques of governance.
Creation and organization of ideas are the main factors affecting the quality and viability of the future
business model. Thus, business management is a scientific approach based on the analysis of data to
achieve the goal by applying the rational use of material and labor resources of the enterprise. This
review will show the most interesting moments connected with business management, and we will try
to understand the two most common methods of management. Therefore, This article will be
structured as follows: first , it will be a small digression into the history aspects and we will

Humans are natural tricksters, beguiling others for benefits and survival; however, deceiving others is
a skill possessed by few African Americans and thus they do not survive. In Narrative of the Life of
Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass, Douglass harnesses the ability to conform to the world of
trickery and conveys his journey to freedom. Through his appeal to pathos, use of dramatic asides, and
application of anecdotes, Douglass expresses the necessity of slaves to play the game of trickery to
survive in the world of tricksters. Effectively establishing an appeal to pathos, Douglass emphasize his
raw emotions to the reader, allowing the reader to feel more connected to why Douglass complies with

The Implications of DNA Profiling Essay
The Implications of DNA Profiling
Former attorney General Janet Reno described our system of justice as a search for the truth.(1)
Increasingly, the forensic use of DNA technology is an important ally in that search. DNA
fingerprinting, better known in the scientific realm as DNA profiling, has given police and the courts a
means of identifying the perpetrators of rapes and murders with a very high degree of confidence.
However, nine years after its introduction, forensic DNA typing is still used only selectively. This is
due to a variety of factors, including the unavailability of forensic typing to local prosecutors, the time
required to perform the typing, and the costs of the tests if private laboratories are utilized. Formerly

Sometimes, this can be a difference of just one base pair. These differences are called polymorphisms
and are the key to DNA typing.(3)
There are many sources of DNA for testing. Blood is one of the key sources, though the surface on
which a bloodstain is found can profoundly affect the ability to successfully perform an analysis. In
addition, bloodstains may be mixtures of blood from two different people and can produce DNA
profiles that are more complex than those from a single individual. Ironically, DNA profiling may be
the only way to determine if a given stain is a mixture. Semen stains are the most common evidence to
be submitted for DNA analysis, which is not surprising since the cases in which DNA testing has been
used the most often are rapes. DNA can also be extracted from tissues (taken at autopsy), hair roots,
saliva, and in rare instances, urine.(4) It is important to note that only a miniscule amount of DNA is
needed for analysis. For example, the amount of DNA found at the root of one hair is usually
sufficient. Environmental factors also play a role in determining whether a particular sample of DNA
can be utilized. Moisture, sunlight, bacterial action and heat are detrimental to the DNA. Depending
on the intensity and combination of these conditions, survival of the DNA is measured in weeks or
months. Even so, DNA in usable amounts can

Movie Studio Analysis
Licensing Agreements
If a movie studio were to approach me about the use of my music in a movie there are several terms
that would have to be outlined. These include payment, exclusivity, use, territory, and time (The Art
Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division para. 35).
Firstly, I would figure out the payment. Do I want to get paid in lump sums, royalties or combination
payments? If the movie stands a chance of success I would choose royalties because the amount of
payment is based on the success of the film, which means more money for me (The Art Institute of
Pittsburgh Online Division para. 23).
Secondly I would discuss the exclusivity of the licensed product. Exclusivity is the use of rights
granted to the license by the licensor (The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division para. 35). When
establishing the licensing contract with the movie studio I want to establish that only this movie may
use my work and no other productions by the movie studio may use my work. I may also license the
work so that other productions may use the work with non exclusive rights (The Art Institute of

When Bad Things Happen To Good People Analysis
Introduction In the novel, When Bad Things Happen to Good People by Harold. S Kushner the theme
of suffering was explored. Kushner attended Columbia University obtaining a BA and an MA. He was
then ordained a Rabbi in 1960 and lead a very religious life. Kushner s young son was diagnosed with
progeria, which causes his body to age quickly. He died when he was fourteen and this caused
Kushner to question his faith. He decided to write this novel because of this; wanting to help others
deal with their suffering and strengthen their faith. The religious and self help tone of the novel helped
to convey his message very well.
Objective
Kushner begins by discussing simple answers that people have thought of to explain why bad things
happen to good people. Next, he takes a closer look at four main causes as to why people suffer. First,
sometimes there is no reason. The world is random and many things do not follow any particular
order. This means that if someone gets hurt, they may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Kushner explains that God does not create this chaos, but tries to make order out of it. Second, the
laws of nature do not make exceptions for nice people. If a rock is going to fall, it is going to fall
whether someone is under it or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By suffering ourselves, we are able to have a better understanding the suffering of others. Kushner
attributes much of his characteristics as a person to all of the times he has suffered. When considering
his son s suffering and how that affected him he said, I am a more sensitive person, ... a more
sympathetic counselor because of Aaron s life and death than I would ever have been without it
(Kushner 133). If he had not suffered, he would not understand suffering; it is as simple as that.
Having this connection with all of humanity has helped Kushner become not only a better Rabbi but a
better and more merciful

exclusively a local and state run industry. However, after the great depression, a growing demand was
placed on providing some type of insurance for that population. The Social Security Act of 1935 was
established to assist with Federal old age benefits and was signed into effect by President Roosevelt
on August 15, 1935. (Home, 2015) Another major impact to long term care has been the creation of
Medicaid that went into effect in 1965 and was an amendment to the Social Security Act of 1935. Title
XIX of the Social Security Act is a federal and state entitlement program that pays for medical
assistance for certain individuals and families with low incomes and resources Medicaid is a collective
effort between state and the government to help provide insurance for eligible citizens. Among those
covered under this insurance, are the elderly, disabled and pregnant. Medicaid is the largest source of
funding for medical care. The new changes to Medicaid are ongoing and will be put into effect as part
of Obamacare. The Obama administration

Reasons Why Single Parents Should Be Able To Adopt
They Can be Mommies and Daddies To !!!
They can be mommies and daddies too !!! It has been proven t that single parents are great parents .
These are the reason why single parents should be able to adopt kids . . There are many valid reasons
why single parents should be able to adopt.
Single parent should be able to adopt because some people have no desire to get married but they still
want to be a parent . Some people feel as if they are not married they should not be able to conceive a
baby so adoption is another way . More reasons why single parents should be able to adopt because
they may have gotten a divorce and don t ever think they will get married again . some more valid
reason as to why they should be able to adopt is because some children may find it easier to relate to
one parent better because of the negative influences they experienced. There are many different pros
and cons.
Another reason why single parents should be able to adopt because they may have gotten a divorce
and don t ever think they will get married again . This is more common than u think in this new
generation .
Somemore reasons why is because some children may find it easier to relate to one parent better
because of the negative influences they experienced .
Another reason they should be able to adopt because having a child can be good because some people
in the world are so lonely that a child will make them feel better not only about life but them self .

Analysis Of Arthur Jackson Holmes By Arthur Holmes
If I have set it down it is because that which is clearly known hath less terror than that which is but
hinted at and guessed . page 23 This quote gives an explanation for the mysterious events that place in
the book. Assumptions can be made that many guesses will be made throughout the book . The world
is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes. Where do you think I have been?
Holmes addresses Watson by asking a rhetorical question. When he gets back from his club, the
detectives gives some advice. Holmes says that some answers are right in front of you and tries to
build Watson as a detective. Just tell me what it all means,Watson and I ll owe you more than ever I
can hope to pay. When Sir Henry addresses Watson this way , it gives latter the rare opportunity to
play the head detective. Watson s means of attempting to answer questions like this provides a layout
to Holmes s method. I knew that seclusion and solitude were very necessary for my friend in those
hours of intense mental conception during which he weighed every particle of evidence, constructed
alternative theories, balanced one against the other , and made up his mind as to which points were
essential and which immaterials. Watson explains one of Holmes s method. Throughout the book
Watson is always left out of the problem solving. Watson supports Holmes as a detective and
completely defends Holmes and reflects the quality that Holmes makes use of people

VIOLENT PROGRAMS ON TELEVISION LEAD TO
AGGRESSIVE...
Since 1982, the National Institute of Mental Health, along with other reputable health organizations
has collected data that connects media violence, with violent acts. Conclusions deduced from this data
prove that violent programs on television lead to aggressive behavior by children and teenagers who
watch those programs. Television violence affects young people of all ages, all socio economic levels,
and all levels of intelligence.
Today s children view vast amounts of violence on television. A steady diet of death, killings, torture,
and other grotesque acts may be viewed on any day by vulnerable youth. When children are young,
they are impressionable to all their surroundings, and especially vulnerable to what they see. Scientific

This association has been easy to support and is substantiated in every major scientific report released
in the last twenty years. It has become general knowledge to professional counselors and educators
that excessive and unsupervised exposure to television violence increases the use of violence to
resolve conflict, while it desensitizes these youth to acts of violence. This exposure to violence in the
media makes viewers less critical of real life violence. Since the media often represents violence as
happy violence devoid of pain, suffering, and consequences, they are not providing the audience with
an accurate or realistic portrayal of violence. Many studies have also confirmed a cumulative effect of
exposure to violence as researchers have traced patterns from childhood exposure to adult social
behavior.
The National Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence was in charge of investigating
these issues and making recommendations to the President. The media s task force report was titled,
Violence and the Media. Conclusions drawn from this report show that real violence was caused in
part by the desire of action groups for media attention; and that violence in society could be reduced if
the news gave groups the ability to enhance their communication. A particular focus of the study was

Emphasizing a search on hacking and conceivable reasons why hacking and its consequences is a
continued issue with repercussions that affect everyone, phrases were used. Clear catchphrases for this
theme along with associated connections of security, law, and the internet is added to the keyword
search. Network security or even hacking are extremely broad areas. Focusing on these topics are a
good starting off point. Obtained this way will lead to an increased numbers of potential articles and
information, which is why it is critical become familiar with appropriate keywords. As the search is
undertaken for books, articles, Internet sites, on hacking or network security themes, it may be
necessary to change phrases, add additional keywords and incorporate different databases. Modified
with different areas in social themed, education, business, management not necessarily related to any
topic in information technology may also present positive results. The more keywords and expressions

Energy Resources using HybridBacktracking search with sequential quadraticOptimization
Algorithms Abstract The increasing environmental crumbling cost of fuel and decreasing accessibility
of fossil fuels necessitates the optimization in hurtful emission alongside the fuel cost. One of the
ways to do as such is incorporating the renewable natural resources of energy in the existing power
system while satisfying all operational constraints. It is a highly constrained multi objective
optimization issue including contradictory objectives with probabilistic and non probabilistic
correspondence and non fairness constraints to oblige the uncertainties of renewable Energy
Resources. In this paper a hybrid multi objective Backtracking search with sequential quadratic
programming optimization algorithm is proposed. The stochastic way of photovoltaic and wind energy
is displayed by Weibul probability distribution function with solar irradiance and wind speed being
stochastic variables. To accept the effectiveness it is first connected as a benchmark to the standard six
generator system. Than the entrance of the wind and solar power on cost and emission is dissected in a
six generator and twenty generator system and a near analysis with the other optimization methods
reveals that the proposed technique is ready to produce better performance. 1. Introduction

This essay will discuss the beginnings of the welfare state, the beverage report, the 5 giant evils and
their impact social policy had on the development of the National Health Service in post war Britain
and today.
The national health service was established in 1948, with the focus on an idea to bring good healthcare
to all. Nurses, doctors, pharmacists, opticians and dentists were brought together under one umbrella
organisation to provide services free to all at point of delivery and based on clinical need, not ability to
pay. (NHS 2015) The aim was that the service was universally open to all, people paid a flat rate

Both George Orwell s Animal Farm and Ariel Dorfman s Rebellion of the Magical Rabbits share the
idea that people s ignorance can contribute to their political and social oppression. These stories are
both different, but at the same time are completely the same. The stories both have a different plot but
have the same deeper meaning of ignorance leading to people s social and political oppression. George
Orwell used real life experiences of when political leaders took over the Soviet Union and created a
communist society to inspire his book while Ariel Dorfman used real life experiences of when Chile

Another relation that these two writers have is that they both quit or were forced out of their
government positions. Ariel Dorfman was in a government position under a socialist who was

otherwise known as a dictatorship. Ariel Dorfman was born in Buenas Aires, Argentina in 1942 and is
still alive today. Both of these authors also had similar writing styles by using allegories of the
dictatorships in their countries. These two authors have a lot in common and have similar writing
styles in their books, Animal Farm and The Rebellion Of The Magical Rabbits. You will read about
how George Orwell and Ariel Dorfman used allegories, ironies, and real life experiences to express
the lesson that people s ignorance can lead to their oppression. Both Animal Farm and The Rebellion
Of The Magical Rabbits have the idea that people s ignorance lead to their oppression. Some evidence
from Animal Farm that helps me support my thesis is when the author states,´´As Clover looked down

that this was not what they had aimed at when they had set themselves years ago to work for the
overthrow of the human race. These scenes of terror and slaughter were not what they had looked

Long Day s Journey Into Night Character Analysis
In the play Long Day s Journey into Night , each character is faced with many drastic challenges.
These challenges aren t only with themselves, but with other members of their family. They share
blame and judgement to themselves and others, dwell on their pasts, struggle to handle their
addictions, and also their own personal sufferings. The oddities such as these makes one wonder how
hard it must be to struggle without even the help of your own family.
No one seems to be able to accept their own faults and in turn blame everything on someone else
whenever they find the chance to. Mary, the boy s mother, is a morphine addict and blames her
loneliness on her husband, Tyrone, who she claims refuses to buy her nice things and creates a terrible
living arrangement for her and her family. For example in the play, she says, In a real home one is
never lonely. You forget I know from experience what a home is like. I gave up one to marry you my
father s home. She insists how unhappy she is and how he constantly chooses working on new
properties instead of using the money to actually make her happy for once. Mary is forever lonely and
blames Tyrone for it since he s constantly leaving her to go to barrooms. Jamie even blames Tyrone
for being cheap when it comes to Edmund needing help from a doctor. He claims how he uses a doctor
who he gives a talk about getting the cheapest option, never the most effective option. Jamie says,

Brazil World Trade Essay
Brazil World Trade
From the 1500 s to the 1930 s the Brazilian economy relied on the production of primary products for
exports. For three centuries Brazil s economy was heavily curbed because since Portugal discovered
Brazil, they subjected it s economy to an imperial mercantile policy or a strictly enforced colonial
pact. Even though Brazil received its independence in 1822, Portugal s phase of decisions left a
lasting, powerful imprint on Brazil s economy and society. In the late eighteenth century, when wage
labor was adopted and slavery was eliminated considerable changes finally began to occur. Only
starting in the 1930 s were the first steps taken to convert key structural changes by changing Brazil

units of motor driven farming machines. It also was consistently producing 1.8 million tons of

3.5 million television sets, and 3 million refrigerators. In addition, about 70 million cubic meters of
petroleum were being developed yearly into fuels, lubricants, propane gas, and a wide range of
petrochemicals. Furthermore, Brazil contains 161,500 kilometers of paved roads and more than 63

Despite the respectable figures, the economy is not considered developed. Although the economic

The caste systems, the practice of arrange marriages, the popular view of human development, the
collectivistic nature of the society, and Indian rites of passage all have their foundation in Hinduism.
Arrange marriage is considered a union or alliance between families and important to continuing the
genetic line. It is believed that such an important decision can t be left for inexperienced youth who
may not follow the rules of marriage. According to Hindu scripture the marriage of Hindu is seen as
the beginning one of the stage in human development. Morality is tied to fulfilling social
responsibilities toward others.
Collectivism is associated with such solidarity and integration in social groups in which people place
the interests of the group above self interests. The traditional Hindu joint family is an example of
collectivism.
Gender relations within the joint family were highly regulated through regular gender segregation.
Women s status in the family was low, based on age of her husband and increased when she bore a

Angles and demonds
Introduction
When I hear the words Angle and Demond the first thing I think of is good and bad, sinner and
saint, heaven and hell. Personally, I believe an angel is a servant for god. I picture a angle to be a
reflection of God and all human beings, with white wings and good sprits. A angels and a

Commands us to avoid demonds.
Biblical Foundation: According to William, Smith The references to demons in the Old
Testament are relatively scarce. Their existence is never proven; it is simply assumed. The Old
Testament focus is not on demons and their schemes but on God and his sovereignty .
Practical Application: Although, there is not a lot of facts mentioned in the gospel about
demonds we believe demons to be fallen angels and demonic sprits. These type of sprits are not
of God.
Conclusion
In conclusion, theology and the study of angles and demonds is based on fact and what we
believe to be true. As proven agles are messengers for God we are not to fear angels ther are
good sprited and one on God s creations. The gospel said we are to fear no one but god, with that
being said we are not supposed to fear the devil demonic sprits. One can dig deep into education
their self about agles and find a host of information in the Bible. Thus, one can also dig deep for
infromatin on demonic sprits in the Bible and come up with less information. Demonic sprits is
something we all should educate ourselfves on so we know what to avoid. However, sometime

The Role Of Culture And Its Influence On Culture
Topic 3 Role of Culture
Culture can be defined as customs, attitudes and beliefs that is shared throughout a group of members
that is part of society. These attitudes, customs and beliefs are passed down from generation to
generation (Ali Abadi 2015). However, as time progress some cultures may change slightly, but still
keep the most distinctive aspects that are unique to a particular culture.
Culture is important because, it defines our values and beliefs, and that is, essentially, what guides the
decisions we make (Kumar 2012). Culture plays a big role in how we behave in specific situations and
how we perceive the world around us. Culture determines how its members interact with each other.
According to Griffin and Pustay (2007) the global environment is impacted by the elements of culture.
These elements includes social structure, religion, communication methods, language, norms and
attitudes. Cultures can also be collectivist, which is when the needs and goals of the culture as a whole
is placed above the needs and goals of an individual, or individualist, which is when individual needs
take priority over collective needs of a group (Cherry 2015).
For this reason it can be said that one s culture influences one s drive to work, what one would expect
the work place to be like and how the workplace operates on a daily basis as well how to treat co
workers or what treatment to expect from co workers (Ali Abadi 2015). For example, there are some
cultural differences

many people did not want to break that tradition. On August 4, 1914 Wilson formally announces the
United States neutrality, encouraging Americans to be impartial in thought as well as in action. Even
though America was neutral, several Americans sided with different countries. Many German and
Irish Americans supported the Central powers. Other Americans supported the Allies, wanting to side
with Britain. They shared a similar language, history, and culture. Slavic Americans also sided with
the Allies. To win American support, the Allied and Central

Analysis Of Acres Of Diamonds
Isaac Newton s third law states that To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction. Not
only can this statement be applied to the sciences, but also to how we behave on a daily basis. Russel
Conwell s claim in his speech Acres of Diamonds that poor people make themselves poor and rich
people make themselves rich defends the belief that we are responsible for our own success. This
means that even if you come from an impoverished background you can change your situation for the
better and fulfill your potential by leading a rich life. I agree with Conwell s proposition that you are
in charge of your own destiny. When you look at his speech and Temple current six commitments
upheld by Richard M. Englert, the university s president, you can find many connections. But along
with these similarities, there are also points that have changed and evolved to suit the needs of the
current student. As we break down the six commitments, it is clear that the founder s initial desires
and the present day goals of the university are brought together to create Temple s mission statement.
The first commitment made by the university is its devotion to its students in serving their financial
needs. Every graduate of a university has to struggle with dealing with debt and paying off student
loans. The fear of being in debt and the intimidation of the sticker price of higher education stops
many people from seeking out a degree. This problem affects students today but was also

Women s Rights Of Women Essay
The gender gap has been a pressing issue throughout American history, as a myriad of women have
expressed through outlets such as public assemblies, literature, and speeches. There have been three
waves of the women s movement, each targeting a variety of issues within each era. The third wave
was in 1995, where Hillary Clinton spoke in Beijing, China, claiming that women s rights were the
same as human rights, that every aspiring girl deserved the civil liberties that every man was given
around the world. Moreover, the movement had shifted towards women in developing nations and
those in poverty around the world. In her speech, Clinton develops a political framework in which
American ideals equate to basic human rights that can be accessible to individuals on an international
level.
Clinton discusses the violence that women experience globally: women s offspring is killed if the it is
born female, and rape against women is considered a war prize or punishment. She insists that the
female counterpart is necessary in developing the world: if the woman flourishes, then so will her
family, and a result the nation will do well (American Rhetoric). Women are not only essential to
mankind itself, but also to the family the basic unit of society. However, women are not given access
to education, health care, jobs and credit, let alone a chance to cherish basic legal, human rights and
have an active political life. Without addressing the social ills, women s lives cannot improve,

Reliability Of The Measurement Instrument Essay
4.3 Reliability analysis To evaluate the reliability of the measurement instrument it was developed an
internal consistency analysis through Cronbach s alpha. It is an index that takes values between 0 and
1, used to verify if the instrument is reliable and performs stable and consistent measurements
(Santesmases, 2009). Cronbach s alpha estimates the lower limit of the reliability coefficient and it is
expressed through Formula 2. (2) Where k is the number of items in the test; Si2 is the items variance
(from 1...i) and S2sum is the total test variance. This means that the reliability depends on the test
length and the covariance among its items (Santesmases, 2009). It is important to mention that it was
decided to apply a pilot test to 40 customers, with the purpose of measuring the questionnaire s
internal consistency. In the first version, the test was integrated by 22 items distributed in five
dimensions and after being undergone to Cronbach s alpha validity test, the instrument was redesigned

I have often had jolts in my brain of disbelief the amount that gets done in my household while I m
gone. The clothes washed, hung up, put away neatly, floor mopped, upstairs vacuumed, dishes
washed, windows cleaned of grubby hands, 48 books read, 300 balls bowled in the kitchen while 4
mealshave been, 5 tantrums, a home baby photo shoot done with freshly picked flowers and both
children bathed before I get home. Yet my toddler treats me as superman because I chase her and
tickle her when I am home. I feel guilty and I am sorry to all mums out there that might feel like dad is
the favourite parent, us dads take the praise and the thunder, but most of the work is done by
wonderful mothers. I implore all dads to thank their partner in crime for the time and effort they put in
your children, I know I couldn t do half the job Jessicah does if left alone with my adorable little
critters. They are a formidable adversary, they are little monsters, the mess, time restraints, noise, the
never ending pleads for more when I ve given you everything. My hairline would be in rapid recession
if I had both them on my hands every day all day by myself. Yet despite all this, being a father can be
summarised by every cliché everyone has heard many times before, every single one of them are all

during the Summer. The first ascent known was in 663 by a monk, and the first woman to ascend was
Lady Fanny Parkes in 1867. The first foreigner from the outside to experience and grasp the might of
Mt. Fuji was Sir Rutherford Alcock. He was the first British Consul General in Japan and the first

Carborundum Case Solution
Part A (i) Issue: Are members liable for Carborundum s debts when winding up? Rule Application:
Since Carborundum is limited by shares and member s liability is amount unpaid on share held, Alan,
Ben and Colin who fully paid up their shares owed no liability, while others had to pay unpaid
$0.9/shares. As stated in Salomon , debt is therefore the company s responsibility, and the corporate
veil protects shareholders in their personal capacity from any liability. Conclusion: Alan, Ben and
Colin owed no liability, Eric Sanders owed $3600 (4000*0.9), Donald Thump owed
$10800(12000*0.9), and Inventions owed $19800 (22000*0.9) (ii) Issue: How can company remove

(iv) Issue: Can other directors remove Clause 5(further requirements) and then remove Hilary as chief
engineer? Rule Application: GM can remove Clause 5. Clause 5 can only be removed when the Clause
5 itself is applied there is 80% approval at a GM (s136 (4)). After removal of Clause 5, Carborundum
can fire Hilary. If there is a separate employment contract between Hilary and Carborundum,
Carborundum would breach the contract and pay for damages. Conclusion: Shareholders may vote to
remove clause 5 considering 5 out of 6 shareholders agree the removal. Part B (i) Issue: Is it possible
not to pass deletion of Clause 3 in GM by Inventions? Rule Application: In order to remove Clause 3,
a special resolution must be passed. (s136 (2)). Therefore, on the GM, it only requires one of Alan,
Ben, Colin and Eric to vote against Inventions in order not for deletion of Clause 3 to happen. Besides,
Donald s concern is unnecessary because according to s 125, the statement of company s objects is
optional and business contrary to any objects in the company s constitution carried out by the
company is not invalid irrespective of whether object clause exists or not. Conclusion: Donald only
needs to make sure one of Alan, Ben, Colin and Eric votes against Inventions. (ii) Issue: Is it possible
not to pass both change of name of Carborundum and change

Gummy Bear Hypothesis For Osmosis
Introduction:
Osmosis is a natural occurrence constantly happening within the cells of all living things. For osmosis
to occur, water molecules must move across a semipermeable membrane from an area of low
concentration to an are of high concentration. In order to understand osmosis, people must understand
the different types of concentrations that can be present within solution. One of them is an Isotonic
solution where the concentration of dissolved particles is equal to that of a cell s. Another is a
hypertonic solution where there is a higher concentration of dissolved particles then inside the cell.
And lastly there is a hypotonic solution where there are less dissolved particles than inside the cell. As
dissolved particles move to a region of lower concentration, water moves the opposite direction as a
result of there being less water in the highly concentrated region. In this experiment, gummy bears
were placed in salt water, sugar water, and tap water to find the measure of osmosis between the
solution and gummy bear.
Hypothesis:
If the gummy bear is added to the solution, then it will lose its coloring and expand.
Materials:
The materials used during the experiment included three plastic cups, three gummy bears, masking
tape, marker, balance, calculator, tray, one plastic spoon, a measurement tray, and a ruler. The three
plastic cups were used to hold the tap water, salt water, and sugar water. The masking tape and marker
were used to label each cup with the

Describe The Relationship Between Acid And Carbonic Acid
The acid balance must be regulated with a range of 7.35 and 7.45 in order for the body to function
normally. A pH of below 7.35 is considered acidic and a pH of above 7.45 is considered alkaline or
basic. Body acids exist in two forms; volatile and nonvolatile acids. Volatile acids can be eliminated as
CO2, usually known as carbonic acid, which is a weak acid. Nonvolatile acids can be eliminated by
the kidneys, example are sulfuric and phosphoric. These acids are strong compared to volatile acids.
When there are changes in pH (can be an increase in hydrogen ion or decrease) there are different
buffer systems that can help to regulate the pH, such as; the carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer, protein
buffer and renal buffer. Buffers absorb the excess hydrogen ion or hydroxyl ion and prevent a ... Show

The carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer is a major extracellular buffer, that operates in both the lungs and
kidneys. The lungs acts as a second defense responding quickly by decreasing the amount of carbonic
acid by blowing off carbon dioxide and leaving water. The kidneys acts as a third defense talking a
little longer to respond (hours to days versus seconds to minutes with the lungs). The kidneys reabsorb
bicarbonate or regenerate bicarbonate from carbon dioxide and water. These two systems work very
effectively together because the lungs can adjust acid concentration rapidly by ventilation and
bicarbonate is easily absorbed or regenerated by kidneys tubules, although more slowly. The way the
renal and respiratory systems adjust to primary changes in pH are known as compensation. The
respiratory system compensates for changes in pH by increasing or decreasing the concentration of
carbon dioxide by changing ventilation. The renal system compensates by producing more acidic or
more alkaline urine. The protein buffer system is both extracellular and intracellular,

The Lakota Tribe Of Native Americans
From Little Creek in the movie Spirit to Tonto in the Lone Ranger, popular culture has always tried to
portray the lifestyle and mentality of Native Americans. Directors and artists have attempted to show
snippets of daily life through their works, drawing from actual artifacts or histories of actual Native
American tribes still present in the modern day United States. One of these tribes are the Lakota,
whose homeland was originally located in the Wisconsin, Michigan and Dakota region of today s
North America. From their day to day activities to their extensive culture the history of the Lakota
tribe of Native Americans are a very intriguing aspect included in Native American studies. Some
major areas of interest include: their daily life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Lakota s would grind the ingredients together with a pounding stone. Wasna was a very good
source of protein and the Lakota valued this traditional recipe not only as a food, but also as a healing
instrument. Therefore, Wasna is often seen as a sacred food and was often used in ceremonies and
rituals. It has been found that the high protein content in this dish helps to greatly elevate iron levels
and promotes healing. Along with food dishes, herbs, and various berries found around their territory
medicine men would perform healing rituals and pray to their gods to help fight off sickness, injuries,
and battle wounds. Lakota Medicine men would often communicate or have visions of the gods they
believed in and these visions would assist them with advising their tribe or healing their people.
Nature and the world around them had a large part in forming these spirits. As stated by (Lakota
Indians, 2017) The Lakota have strong ties to nature and the spirit and belief in many different gods. A
popular element in the Lakota religion has been the use of vision quest to pray to the Gods and as a
rite of passage into adulthood. Found in many Native American cultures is the belief in the father sun

Sympathy For Sylvia In A White Heron
The character I feel most sympathy for this week will be Sylvia, who is the character from the short
story A White Heron by Sarah Orne Jewett. Sylvia is portrayed as that shy little girl who is terrified of
folks per her grandmother, Mrs. Tilly, to a hunter who stays through the night while on an excursion
for a white heron. (Jewett 136) Sylvia sadly to say had to be raised by her grandmother due to the
death of her mother which came out to be a very exciting journey on the country side. (Jewett 137)
Sylvia is so at one with the world around her that her grandmother implies to the hunter that the wild
creatures counts her as one o themselves, in which he offers ten dollars to anyone who leads him to a
white heron (Jewett 138 39). The

Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia
Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an immune system disorder where the reaction of the
immune system attacks itself causing a low platelet count, placing those affected at risk for severe
hemorrhage. Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) formally known as idiopathic thrombocytopenia
purpura (ITP), is now defined as an immunological disorder where the body attacks its self and
destroys platelets (McCare 2011). ITP a disorder defined by a low platelet count in which platelet
productions are both impaired and destroyed by anti platelet antibodies. ITP is diagnosed with a
platelet count less than 100,000/uL with no known evidence of anemia or leukopenia. ITP can have a
negative effect on life expectancy reducing it by approximately 20 years. ... Show more content on

The body views the platelets as a foreign body and causes a response that produces antibodies that
marks the spleen to destroy and remove the platelets. The platelet count is affected by antibodies
produced by individuals with ITP. The antibody produced covers the surface of the platelets making
them easily destructible by macrophages. Once the macrophages destroy the platelets faster than they
are produced, the number of platelets are greatly reduced causing a decrease in blood clotting.
Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia is most common in women between the age of 20 40 years of age
and also commonly known to affect children with a recent viral infection such as Rubella or German
Measles. ITP can be both chronic and acute. Chronic ITP is progressive and insidious found more
common with women between the ages of 20 40, with complications noted mostly during childbirth.
Acute ITP self limiting and is often seen in the pediatric population after a viral infection and
spontaneously resolves without treatment within 6 months (McCare

Two Women in Proverbs 9 Essay
Two Women in Proverbs 9 Proverbs has always been one of the most renowned and loved books of
the Bible. According to the prologue, it was written to teach shrewdness to the simple, knowledge and
prudence to the young (1.4), and to let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning
acquire skill (1.5). It is primarily addressed to young men, as the author makes frequent references to
my son throughout. The purpose of this book was to help prepare young men for leadership and life. A
proverb, which serves the purpose of drawing a comparison between two forms of behavior to teach
moral wisdom, explicitly fulfills its role in particularly chapter 9 of Proverbs. In light of this father to
son instruction, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reward of the assiduous will far exceed that of the indolent in the long run. Lady Wisdom and
Lady Folly not only own their own homes, but they are situated at the highest places in the town (9.3,
9.14). Because both women dwell at the promontories of their respective cities, they are able to look
out and gain a perspective that is much broader than those who are standing on level ground. They
have the advantage of being able to observe other people and what they are doing. By being able to
observe others every move, their neighbors are at their most vulnerable state without even being aware
of it themselves. Lady Folly uses her advantageous location to remember the weaknesses of others
that she catches and files them in her memory storage for later use. While Lady Folly uses young men
s weaknesses by using them against them solely for her own gain, Lady Wisdom selflessly uses her
high promontory for the benefit of others. She uses the information she learns, to teach others their
mistakes and to help them in any way she can. The speaker is portraying the importance of leadership
that instead of being consumed with their own selves, the young men must also be able to pinpoint
others strengths and weaknesses to help them, not to use against them. The next similarity that these
women share is that they both call out to people, inviting them over to their respective houses. Lady
Folly calls

Symbolism In Smoke Signals
In the film Smoke Signals, Chris Eyre explores the lives of the people of the Coeur d Alene
Reservation through Thomas Builds the Fire s story. Thomas s story shows how Victor s relationship
with Arnold is rebuilt even after Arnold s death, and Victor comes to a place of understanding and
forgiveness with his father and the world around him. Throughout the film, the symbolic references of
the rez car and the cutting of the hair tie the story together and complement the main themes of life
change and renewal, exemplifying the way people work through life s hardships. Accordingly, at the
beginning of the film when Thomas s parents died in a fire, Arnold cut his hair. For an Indian, this is
done to indicate a life change or to signify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first glance, it takes a second to realize that the car is driving backwards and works only in reverse.
This represents how people feel when dealing with conflict and hardships. When in conflict, Victor
feels that he can never move forward. When he tries to move forward, he stays in one place or moved
back yet another step. Many people today can relate to this and experience this same feeling in their
struggles. This can also be said for the Indians living in the reservation. Ever since Columbus came
across the ocean, the Red man has been constantly pushed backwards, unable to get ahead. Likewise,
waterfalls and rivers represent the themes of renewal of the heart and washing away of hurt in Smoke
Signals. A stream is like the vital organ, the liver. A liver purifies the blood cleansing it of toxins and
making it pure. This is evident when Victor pours out Arnold s ashes from the bridge into the river.
Victor is able to pick up Arnold s ashes at the sheriff s office after he forgives Arnold and is able to
receive him. As he pours the ashes into river and they go over the waterfall, Victor releases his hatred
and anger as the ashes rush down stream, cleansing his heart

  • 2. Hemp For The True American Victory Tyson, Caves Professor M.M. Eskandari Political Science 101 SBCC 11/19/2014 11:10 12:30 Hemp for the True American Victory One of the first things about marijuana history that the American public still doesn t understand is that cannabis, was once very legal to grow in the United States. In fact, up until 1883 it was one of the largest agricultural crops in the world, including America.(The Union) But it wasn t grown for the psychoactive plant cannabis sativa. Cannabis hemp, which carries a fraction of the amount of THC, (the compound in marijuana that attributes to the high feeling) was and is used all over the world, producing the overall majority of Earth s fiber, fabric, paper, and medicines.(Herer,20) Hemp has a deep American History as well, from the gardens of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin to the 8,327 American hemp plantations counted in the 1850 census.(Herer,15) Yet the Federal government now recognizes cannabis as a Schedule I drug with no medical value, and 23 States have legalized cannabis for medicinal use. (The Union) Even though some western states such as Oregon and Colorado are making legal changes to marijuana policy at the state level, the most beneficial marijuana law we could pass is and always has been the Nationwide legalization of industrial Cannabis Hemp. Hemp was legal tender in most of the Americas from 1631 to the early 1800s, you could buy anything with hemp, even pay taxes. (Herer, 1) The first law passed on Marijuana in the ... • 3. How Does Liam O Flaherty Use Figurative Language In The... This story follows a sniper and his fight to survive a day in the Irish civil war. The setting takes place in Dublin, Ireland around the battle of the Four Courts, which does take place in history. The sniper, settled on a rooftop, tries to relax, but soon fights for his life against an armored car and more importantly against another sniper. In The Sniper by Liam O Flaherty, symbolism and figurative language exemplify that civil war divides a whole country, not just any one group of people or soldiers. O Flaherty s use of symbolism allows this story to encompass a whole country in its talk of division while only having four characters. The two analogous snipers contain similarities to each other in their locations, actions, mannerisms, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A historical allusion lies in this text as a reference to the Irish civil war between the Republicans and the Free Staters. The Sniper takes place in Dublin, Ireland, but this means nothing unless it takes place like it does during ...the Irish civil war of the early 1920s (Korb 225). This allusion to the civil war in Ireland acts as a great reference to history while trying to communicate the idea of how civil war divides an entire country as a whole. The reason that this allusion communicates so well lies in the fact that it brings the mind to reality, instead of viewing The Sniper as a made up story. In this story exists a situational irony that comes across as the biggest point of the story, in which a sniper kills his brother. Out of the entire story the biggest point ...emphasizes one of the greatest ironies of civil war: Brother is pitted against brother (Shuman 3). This acts as situational irony because no one expects that the enemy sniper could turn out as the brother of the Republican sniper. This irony shows how war does not only affect the soldiers but their families as well because they have to suffer the death of their children. Finally, the fact that The Sniper takes place in Dublin at the Four Courts represents with imagery what happens there, how civil war destroys the people s history and culture. The fighting of the Irish civil war takes place in the streets of Dublin for a while and ...around the beleaguered Four Courts where the heavy guns roar[] (O Flaherty 1). The way that this shows how the entire country becomes affected, exists in how the Four Courts lay under siege with cannons firing around them. The people s culture and history becomes destroyed by being under siege and thus indirectly does hurt the people of Ireland. Allusion, situational irony, and imagery all assist the message that civil war affects the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Emotional Change In Macbeth In the tragedy of Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, a Scottish general named Macbeth receives a prophecy from three witches that tells him one day he will become King of Scotland. Due to the pressures from his wife and his own ambition, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the Scottish throne for himself. Soon after, Macbeth is tormented with guilt and paranoia forcing him to commit more and more murders to protect himself from suspicion and to keep his power. The result of the murders eventually takes Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into the realms of madness and death. The main character, Macbeth, undergoes a series of emotional changes that represents the complexity of human being behaviour in certain circumstances that involve quick decisions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In act three Macbeth begins to grow more jealous of Banquo because it is his sons that are to succeed the throne from Macbeth. Macbeth says, Upon my head they placed a fruitless crown and put a barren scepter in my grip, thence to be wrenched with an unlineal hand, no son of mine succeeding. If t be so, for Banquo s issue have I filed my mind; for them the gracious Duncan have I murdered; put rancors in the vessel of my peace only for them; and mine eternal jewel given to the common enemy of man, to make them kings, the seed of Banquo kings! Rather than so, come fate into the list, and champion me to th utterance. Who s there? (Macbeth III.i). To Macbeth this is not fair because he was the one that murdered the King, it should be his children(even though Macbeth has no children, yet) to get the throne not Banquo s. This leads Macbeth to commit yet another murder although this time he does not do the deed himself. Macbeth hires three murderers to kill both Banquo and his son Fleance. He tells the murderers, Both of you Know Banquo was your enemy. So is he mine; and in such bloody distance that every minute of his being thrusts against my near st of life. And though I could with barefaced power sweep him from my sight and bid my will avouch it, yet I must not, for certain friends that are both his and mine, whose loves I may not drop, but ... • 5. Why Did the Treaty of Maastricht Mark a Milestone in... Why did the Treaty of Maastricht mark a milestone in creating a political union? The Treaty of Maastricht, formerly known as the Treaty of the European Union came at a pivotal time in European history. Eastern Europe was a victim of the collapse of Communism, which had a strong impact on the European Commission (EC) as this meant new potential markets were open which they were keen to take over (Bache, 2001:124). However, the collapse of Communism in the Soviet Union meant that there was unsettlement in the east. During the same period of time there was possibility for reunification in Germany. This was looked upon with great caution because many feared that this could cause Germany Nationalism to ignite again. Due to these events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the European Parliament now had the ability to veto legislation. Other institutional changes saw the formation of a Committee of Regions and the Court of Justice be given the right to fine member states that were not complying with its judgments (Bieler, 2009:Lecture 4). Moreover, there were pivotal policy changes as it introduced education, public health, the environment and consumer protection, again to promote Europe s supranational qualities. Maastricht carried on to emphasize the necessity of European integration and the head s of government agreed that this would be achieved by a three pillar structure. The three pillars were the EC pillar (economic and social affairs), and the intergovernmental pillars of Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) (Bache, 2001:124). • 6. Battle Between Good and Evil The Battle Between Good and Evil The conflict between good and evil is universal to the human condition. It is a theme common to both history and literature. In 1866 Joseph Roux wrote, Evil often triumphs, but never conquers . In Mercy Among the Children by David Richards, the Henderson family suffers many injustices, and is exposed to evil in many forms. Roux s statement can be analyzed through the examination of the characters, including the Henderson s themselves and those who most deeply affect them. Lyle starts out as a morally good character. He sees his family suffer many injustices; his father falsely accused of murder (118), and his mother accused of theft and his sister treated as an outcast. Lyles father Sydney has adopted a stance of pacifism, and believes strongly in the values of the church and literature. In the beginning of the novel, Lyle shares his father s beliefs and will not fight to defend the honour of his family. • 8. Pros And Cons Of The Renaissance One of the three main discoveries that will be discussed is early applications of linear perspective and this will be shown through representing the body, representing space and the body in space. During the Renaissance period the world saw a great blend between art and science and because of this the era was coined the term Scientific Renaissance period. The great advances that happened was discovered in the fields of geography, astronomy, physics, mathematics, manufacturing, engineering, anatomy and astronomy. In this period ancient scientific text were rediscovered and during 1453 and after the Fall of Constantinople which was the capture of the capital of the Byzantine Empire by an invading army of the Ottoman Empire. The invention of printing would enable people to democratize learning and allow a faster propagation of new ideas. Some people see the renaissance as one that caused scientific backwardness. One of these people were George Sarton who argued that scientific progress was slowed for a period of time. Some of the positive influences of the Renaissance was the rediscovery of lost texts and the increased emphasis on the study of language. According to Khanacademy.com What renaissance artists had clearly achieved through the careful observation of nature, including studies of anatomical dissections, was the means to recreate the 3 dimensional physical reality of the human form on two dimensional surfaces. Zoos cannot provide them with enough space, therefore, they cannot run around so as to grow up freely. On the other hand, some people argue that animals should be kept in zoos. Nowadays, forests and mountains have been cut down by people. If we leave animals alone, they might have nowhere to find food and nowhere to live. The larger animals seemed to go quietly about their business but the animal that caught my attention was the adult elephant that seemed to be pacing up and down out of boredom. This is understandable because even though the park has given the elephants massive amounts of green space to themselves, in the wild they are used to hundreds and hundreds of miles that become their domain. The equivalent would be like placing a human under house arrest. The more dangerous animals like lions and tigers are also given their own large enclosures and people can view them from behind a glass screen. Their focus on that day was on keeping out of the sun by lying under shady trees and Izmir zoo is very much backing the stance that if you do not get to see an animal then you should return at a different time. They are not forcing the animals into any ridiculous side shows involving party tricks and silly costumes. Animals aside, the park does give a lot of information to visitors about the animal that they are seeing and two days within a week are dedicated to educational tours for children. This is to describe the traits, natural habitat and eating routines of an animal. Except for two species of bat, there were no land mammals in New Zealand before humans arrived. Because of this, plants and animals did not evolve defence mechanisms or any way to protect themselves from the predators. For instance, the leaves of plants do not contain poisons to deter browsing mammals, while many birds and insects have lost their ability to fly. • 13. Business Management And The Future Business Model Introduction Since the beginning of the twentieth century has seen a growing interest in entrepreneurial activities and to the characteristics of governance models. This news is not surprising, since many areas of human activity understand that when using the correct scientific approach to the organization of the production process can be achieved the highest productivity. A number of key issues arise from the statement. For instance, entrepreneurship despite its relatively short period of time has passed a long way of evolution from a rather banal management practices to modern and innovative technologies and methods of business management. Business management can be considered a system of economic analysis of the company. Therefore, the strategy of operation and development of any enterprise is impossible without competent use of principles, methods, forms and techniques of governance. Creation and organization of ideas are the main factors affecting the quality and viability of the future business model. Thus, business management is a scientific approach based on the analysis of data to achieve the goal by applying the rational use of material and labor resources of the enterprise. The Implications of DNA Profiling Essay The Implications of DNA Profiling Former attorney General Janet Reno described our system of justice as a search for the truth.(1) Increasingly, the forensic use of DNA technology is an important ally in that search. DNA fingerprinting, better known in the scientific realm as DNA profiling, has given police and the courts a means of identifying the perpetrators of rapes and murders with a very high degree of confidence. However, nine years after its introduction, forensic DNA typing is still used only selectively. This is due to a variety of factors, including the unavailability of forensic typing to local prosecutors, the time required to perform the typing, and the costs of the tests if private laboratories are utilized. Formerly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes, this can be a difference of just one base pair. These differences are called polymorphisms and are the key to DNA typing.(3) There are many sources of DNA for testing. Blood is one of the key sources, though the surface on which a bloodstain is found can profoundly affect the ability to successfully perform an analysis. In addition, bloodstains may be mixtures of blood from two different people and can produce DNA profiles that are more complex than those from a single individual. Ironically, DNA profiling may be the only way to determine if a given stain is a mixture. Semen stains are the most common evidence to be submitted for DNA analysis, which is not surprising since the cases in which DNA testing has been used the most often are rapes. DNA can also be extracted from tissues (taken at autopsy), hair roots, saliva, and in rare instances, urine.(4) It is important to note that only a miniscule amount of DNA is needed for analysis. For example, the amount of DNA found at the root of one hair is usually sufficient. Environmental factors also play a role in determining whether a particular sample of DNA can be utilized. Moisture, sunlight, bacterial action and heat are detrimental to the DNA. Depending on the intensity and combination of these conditions, survival of the DNA is measured in weeks or months. Kushner attended Columbia University obtaining a BA and an MA. He was then ordained a Rabbi in 1960 and lead a very religious life. Kushner s young son was diagnosed with progeria, which causes his body to age quickly. He died when he was fourteen and this caused Kushner to question his faith. He decided to write this novel because of this; wanting to help others deal with their suffering and strengthen their faith. The religious and self help tone of the novel helped to convey his message very well. Objective Kushner begins by discussing simple answers that people have thought of to explain why bad things happen to good people. Next, he takes a closer look at four main causes as to why people suffer. First, sometimes there is no reason. The world is random and many things do not follow any particular order. This means that if someone gets hurt, they may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Kushner explains that God does not create this chaos, but tries to make order out of it. This exposure to violence in the media makes viewers less critical of real life violence. Since the media often represents violence as happy violence devoid of pain, suffering, and consequences, they are not providing the audience with an accurate or realistic portrayal of violence. Many studies have also confirmed a cumulative effect of exposure to violence as researchers have traced patterns from childhood exposure to adult social behavior. The National Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence was in charge of investigating these issues and making recommendations to the President. The media s task force report was titled, Violence and the Media. • 33. The Role Of Culture And Its Influence On Culture Topic 3 Role of Culture Culture can be defined as customs, attitudes and beliefs that is shared throughout a group of members that is part of society. These attitudes, customs and beliefs are passed down from generation to generation (Ali Abadi 2015). However, as time progress some cultures may change slightly, but still keep the most distinctive aspects that are unique to a particular culture. Culture is important because, it defines our values and beliefs, and that is, essentially, what guides the decisions we make (Kumar 2012). Culture plays a big role in how we behave in specific situations and how we perceive the world around us. Culture determines how its members interact with each other. According to Griffin and Pustay (2007) the global environment is impacted by the elements of culture. These elements includes social structure, religion, communication methods, language, norms and attitudes. Cultures can also be collectivist, which is when the needs and goals of the culture as a whole is placed above the needs and goals of an individual, or individualist, which is when individual needs take priority over collective needs of a group (Cherry 2015). For this reason it can be said that one s culture influences one s drive to work, what one would expect the work place to be like and how the workplace operates on a daily basis as well how to treat co workers or what treatment to expect from co workers (Ali Abadi 2015). First off the Government provided roads. Roads helped the Romans move armies, trade goods and communicate. The Romans became adept at constructing roads. The laws of the Twelve Tables insist that the roads be 8 ft wide and 16 ft long. The Government also provided Public Baths. Roman baths were apart of the day to day life in Ancient Rome . Romans had led via pipes witch had running waiter but they were taxed according to the size of the pipe(s). A large complex sometimes had a gym and a swimming pool. When you re building a Public Bath you have to have good engineering skills because you have to heat the water. Public bath complexes even had a Massagers who would massage you with olive oil. • 38. Women s Rights Of Women Essay The gender gap has been a pressing issue throughout American history, as a myriad of women have expressed through outlets such as public assemblies, literature, and speeches. There have been three waves of the women s movement, each targeting a variety of issues within each era. The third wave was in 1995, where Hillary Clinton spoke in Beijing, China, claiming that women s rights were the same as human rights, that every aspiring girl deserved the civil liberties that every man was given around the world. Moreover, the movement had shifted towards women in developing nations and those in poverty around the world. In her speech, Clinton develops a political framework in which American ideals equate to basic human rights that can be accessible to individuals on an international level. Clinton discusses the violence that women experience globally: women s offspring is killed if the it is born female, and rape against women is considered a war prize or punishment. She insists that the female counterpart is necessary in developing the world: if the woman flourishes, then so will her family, and a result the nation will do well (American Rhetoric). Women are not only essential to mankind itself, but also to the family the basic unit of society. However, women are not given access to education, health care, jobs and credit, let alone a chance to cherish basic legal, human rights and have an active political life. Without addressing the social ills, women s lives cannot improve, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Reliability Of The Measurement Instrument Essay 4.3 Reliability analysis To evaluate the reliability of the measurement instrument it was developed an internal consistency analysis through Cronbach s alpha. It is an index that takes values between 0 and 1, used to verify if the instrument is reliable and performs stable and consistent measurements (Santesmases, 2009). Cronbach s alpha estimates the lower limit of the reliability coefficient and it is expressed through Formula 2. (2) Where k is the number of items in the test; Si2 is the items variance (from 1...i) and S2sum is the total test variance. This means that the reliability depends on the test length and the covariance among its items (Santesmases, 2009). It is important to mention that it was decided to apply a pilot test to 40 customers, with the purpose of measuring the questionnaire s internal consistency. In the first version, the test was integrated by 22 items distributed in five dimensions and after being undergone to Cronbach s alpha validity test, the instrument was redesigned to 20 items, as is shown in Graphic 4. • 43. Gummy Bear Hypothesis For Osmosis Introduction: Osmosis is a natural occurrence constantly happening within the cells of all living things. For osmosis to occur, water molecules must move across a semipermeable membrane from an area of low concentration to an are of high concentration. In order to understand osmosis, people must understand the different types of concentrations that can be present within solution. One of them is an Isotonic solution where the concentration of dissolved particles is equal to that of a cell s. Another is a hypertonic solution where there is a higher concentration of dissolved particles then inside the cell. And lastly there is a hypotonic solution where there are less dissolved particles than inside the cell. As dissolved particles move to a region of lower concentration, water moves the opposite direction as a result of there being less water in the highly concentrated region. In this experiment, gummy bears were placed in salt water, sugar water, and tap water to find the measure of osmosis between the solution and gummy bear. Hypothesis: If the gummy bear is added to the solution, then it will lose its coloring and expand. Materials: The materials used during the experiment included three plastic cups, three gummy bears, masking tape, marker, balance, calculator, tray, one plastic spoon, a measurement tray, and a ruler. • 44. Describe The Relationship Between Acid And Carbonic Acid The acid balance must be regulated with a range of 7.35 and 7.45 in order for the body to function normally. A pH of below 7.35 is considered acidic and a pH of above 7.45 is considered alkaline or basic. Body acids exist in two forms; volatile and nonvolatile acids. Volatile acids can be eliminated as CO2, usually known as carbonic acid, which is a weak acid. Nonvolatile acids can be eliminated by the kidneys, example are sulfuric and phosphoric. These acids are strong compared to volatile acids. When there are changes in pH (can be an increase in hydrogen ion or decrease) there are different buffer systems that can help to regulate the pH, such as; the carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer, protein buffer and renal buffer. Buffers absorb the excess hydrogen ion or hydroxyl ion and prevent a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The carbonic acid bicarbonate buffer is a major extracellular buffer, that operates in both the lungs and kidneys. The lungs acts as a second defense responding quickly by decreasing the amount of carbonic acid by blowing off carbon dioxide and leaving water. The kidneys acts as a third defense talking a little longer to respond (hours to days versus seconds to minutes with the lungs). The kidneys reabsorb bicarbonate or regenerate bicarbonate from carbon dioxide and water. These two systems work very effectively together because the lungs can adjust acid concentration rapidly by ventilation and bicarbonate is easily absorbed or regenerated by kidneys tubules, although more slowly. The way the renal and respiratory systems adjust to primary changes in pH are known as compensation. The respiratory system compensates for changes in pH by increasing or decreasing the concentration of carbon dioxide by changing ventilation. The renal system compensates by producing more acidic or more alkaline urine. The protein buffer system is both extracellular and intracellular, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) formally known as idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP), is now defined as an immunological disorder where the body attacks its self and destroys platelets (McCare 2011). ITP a disorder defined by a low platelet count in which platelet productions are both impaired and destroyed by anti platelet antibodies. Once the macrophages destroy the platelets faster than they are produced, the number of platelets are greatly reduced causing a decrease in blood clotting. Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia is most common in women between the age of 20 40 years of age and also commonly known to affect children with a recent viral infection such as Rubella or German Measles. Because both women dwell at the promontories of their respective cities, they are able to look out and gain a perspective that is much broader than those who are standing on level ground. They have the advantage of being able to observe other people and what they are doing. By being able to observe others every move, their neighbors are at their most vulnerable state without even being aware of it themselves.
