The Marxist And Feminist Perspectives
The marxist and feminist perspectives are both are utilized to gain a deeper understanding of
literature. The feminist lens deals with the role of gender within literature, and the marxist lens focuses
on the context of culture and society within literature. Each perspective plays off the other to create a
cohesive approach to analyzing Brave New World. Aldous Huxley s Brave New World highlights the
issues associated with a society with a disproportional basis in manufactured social structures. These
dysfunctional social structures are created through a fundamental irony: knowledge both unities and
destroys humanity. Huxley shows mankind, for the first time in history, united; however, the
knowledge and intellect that created this ever lasting peace is also the same factor that stripped
mankind of everything that makes it human. Aldous Huxley s dystopian society, within Brave New
World, shows that knowledge is the unifying and destroying thread of humanity through the fabricated
social hierarchy and preconditioned gender roles.
The underpinning of Huxley s Brave New World is the unifying thread of mankind: knowledge.
Through the course of history, mankind has struggled to find and maintain peace. However, in Huxley
s vision of the future mankind has developed, manufactured, and fostered peace all through the
knowledge gained from generations past. Mankind has three fundamental factors that drive it and are
called the functions of life: assimilation, excitation, [and]

The DSM-5 Summary
American Psychiatric Association (APA) updates the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders (DSM) roughly every 10 years (Washburn, 2013). The last update was during May, 2013.
This article talks about five critical points that every helping professional, such as social workers,
should consider when using the DSM 5. Listed below are the five points listed within the article.
1. There was not a social worker there when constructing the DSM 5 (Washburn, 2013).
2. Many social workers are not keen on talking about the likely significance of the DSM for mental
health practice (Washburn, 2013).
3. The modifications that occurred within the DSM 5, have many social workers concerned
(Washburn, 2013).

That surprises me, and makes me wonder why there social workers would feel that. I know it reports
in the article that there are some social workers that advocate for other for the DSM, but yet some
view it as a political system and problematic. This will impact my career by being aware that my
future supervisor may feel against the DSM and cause issues when dealing with diagnosing and
working with insurances. I am also not sure what would happen if I work with an individual that is
against using the DSM. I always thought it was mandatory when dealing with clients and getting them

Analysis Of Drive By Download Attack Vector
Drive by Download Attack Vector
For the drive by download attack vector, we create a system called the security Posture, Integration,
and Correlation Engine (SPICE). SPICE takes a feed of real time junk mail, sends a vulnerable virtual

Neighbours By Tim Winton Analysis
An individual s growth is induced by their experiences of and response to discovery. The extent of
their discovery is determined by their will to embrace the process and the connections made.
Discoveries can provoke unexpected emotive responses, as did the journey undertaken by the
participants in Ivan O Mahoney s documentary Go Back To Where You Came From. Else, they may
result in the desire to re evaluate perceptions of the world, made evident in Tim Winton s short story,
Neighbours. Both texts explore the experience of self discovery through which the development of
profound new understandings and perceptions allowing the individuals to form deeper relationships

Thus, proving that When forced out of their comfort zone, an individual s will to learn can result in a
change of perceptions and attitudes over time. Winton s short story begins as a young couple move
into a street that is full of European migrants . Winton applies a simile to express how this made the
newly weds feel like sojourners in a foreign land . The young couple had been were not used to the
behaviour of their new neighbours and the limited space between their houses as they had previously
lived in the expansive outer suburbs with neighbours that were seldom seen and never heard . The
repetition of the seasons; autumn merged into winter and by late summer symbolises the length of
time the couple take to become familiar with their new neighbours and accept and embrace their
cultural differences. When the neighbours found out the young woman was pregnant, they showered
her with compliments and presents making her feel flattered, claustrophobic, grateful, peeved .
Through this oxymoron, the hormonal impact of the pregnancy is illuminated and her previous, solely
negative attitudes have altered towards her new neighbours as these acts of kindness have
overwhelmed her and she sees they re just trying to help. Therefore, Discoveries can be sudden and

Religious Conflict Through the Ages Essay
Religious Conflict Through the Ages
The role religion plays in world history is, at best, tremendous. Through the ages, religion has both
unified and divided civilizations often bringing extreme human casualty, in the case of division, or
creating interesting new cultures, in the case of the latter. In the Ancient civilizations such as the
Greek, Kush and Egyptian empires religion serves as a catalyst further strengthening the bond found
in such homogeneous societies. In these civilizations it is important to note that the inhabitants did not
conceive of religion in terms of a belief system in a higher moral authority, rather, the belief system
was such a part of their lifestyle that there was no differentiation. In discussing ... Show more content

However, three distinctions can be outlined in this discussion. Firstly, religion serves as a catalyst
further unifying homogeneous civilizations such as the Greek, Ku*censored*e and Egyptian societies,
secondly, religion serves as a primary focus of difference when two homogeneous societies, such as
the Muslims and the Christians involve themselves in a conflict for spiritual dominance, and, thirdly,
how religion, in some homogenous societies such as the Protestant Reformation of the late Tudor and
early Stuart dynasties in England, serves to divide the people. Religious observance in ancient
civilizations serves to further bridge the connectedness that the people of those societies felt. In the
ancient Greek, Ku*censored*e and and Egyptian cultures religion was such a integral part of their
lifestyle that it was totally indistinguishable in terms of contemporary classifications. The ancient
Greeks held close to a common polytheistic belief system and operated the government, domestic
lifestyle, and recreation from this system. The evidence is abounds in that the Olympic Games were
held at the feast of Zeus at Olympia in Elis, and the Pythian Games were held at Delphi, in honor of
Apollo. Although the Greeks were advanced in the governmental procedures such as their creation of
the republic, Kings such as

The Importance Of Teaching In Education
Introduction
Education is about in parting knowledge based on one s belief, truth and justification with the purpose
of surviving in this changing world. Highly educated people are well recognized and given high
reputation in the society. Hence, teaching is a process of sharing information between the teacher and
students in a positive, caring, changing and stress free environment where new knowledge must be
constructed and tested through student teacher interaction using different strategies so that children
could master knowledge and skills of desired fields including values, ethics, and other social
knowledge. To fulfill this purpose, teachers should be active, forward thinking, energetic,
knowledgeable, sincere and punctual for changing one s truth, belief and justification. To satisfy these
educational needs, learning should be a fun mechanism for students in which they enjoy by
responding, interacting, socializing, inventing, sharing, discovering and deciding about knowledge,
skills, values, ethics and discipline by expressing a permanent change in behaviour. As learning is
defined as a permanent change in behaviour, it is teacher s interest to consider teaching as a personal
challenge in which students are diverted to a more progressive learning environment where they make
their own judgment based on what they experience with exposure to real life like activities. With this
as teacher s interest in the field, it is a sensation for them to focus on the whole child

The Theory Of Plate Tectonics
Plate Tectonics The theory of plate tectonics has been explored throughout history because of
similarities in coastal boundaries and other evidence found such as fossil records, geometric fit,
mountain episodes, the paleoclimate observed, information about the ocean floor, ancient magnetism,
distribution of volcanoes and earthquakes and heat flow from the earths core. There were early
theories from Wegner s continental drift which lacked an explanation for the mechanism that drove the
continents apart, to Wilson s more complete theory of the cyclical opening and closing of the ocean
basins due to movement of the earth s plates. The theory explains how today s continents were once a
large supercontinent that slowly drifted to their present positions and will again form one giant
continent via collision.
According to the Natego film Colliding Continents, the landmasses are liable to drift back to each
other through plate tectonic activity. One of the few places on Earth where one can see continents
being pushed apart is in Iceland, where the mid Atlantic ridge in shows above the surface and shows
how oceanic crust is made, the ridge in Iceland is almost three miles wide on one side you have the
Eurasian plate and the other is the American plate. This rifts grows forming new rock and causes the
continents further apart widening the Atlantic Ocean moving about an inch a year. The theory suggests
that we go through cycles of dispersion and collision over a 100 million year

Utility Vs. Income Inequality Analysis
This paper tries to make a contribution by addressing the subjective well being to be a more
comprehensive measure of quality of life rather than income. The SWL and its standard deviation
make this comparison illuminating with a significant negative correlation shown by all the surveys
used in the paper. As a result, it is expected that whatever negative linkage there may be between
income inequality and life evaluations should be stronger for well being inequality. this paper is
providing three sorts of evidence that supports this hypothesis. The choice of satisfaction with life as
an indicator of well being is a wise choice. Another possibility could be happiness, which has emerged
as an alternative indicator of well being. While it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In each case, tests are also repeated controlling for a number of other possibly confounding variables.
The finding is a consistently negative relation between well being inequality and the average reported
level of well being. In all cases the negative relation is stronger than that for income inequality. The
thing that was not really clear to me was why SWL utility function is chosen to be cardinal in the
models since from most branches of economics, the concept of cardinal utility has been eliminated as
redundant because ordinal utility has been found to suffice for doing the job. It would have been better
if the authors explained that Cardinal utility has been kept only in welfare economics to support the
demand for a more equal income distribution. The authors also consider the likely risks that well being
inequality in the regions or countries with higher level of well being may be estimated with a
downward bias. The resulting reduction in the magnitude of estimated coefficients could be best seen
as an upper bound on the part of the correlation that can be ascribed to a mechanical result of how
SWL is reported. However, It is not fully described why they did not use both of the two different
distributions Normal and Logistic in each cluster for the regressions in which they mentioned in the
paper to better compare the

Differences In The Chrysalids By John Wyndham
The world contains an outrageous amount of similarities and differences that involve with today s
society and the society of Waknuk that deals with human intolerance in one way or another. The
Chrysalids by John Wyndham include some similarities within our society and Waknuk that
demonstrate how quickly people judge others according to their physical appearance and the racism
that still exist in both societies. An example of a difference is that there are many different religion and
beliefs today compared to the society of Waknuk. Humankinds are prejudiced in countless different
manners because of the bitterness and cruelty inside humanity s heart and mind.
As society develops, the more injustice human grows by how everyone make conclusions on a person
based on external image. First and foremost, the society of Waknuk are very harsh about the definition

racism is a common problem because many people believe that their race is superior than others as a

What Is Hieronymus Bosch Owls
For my final project I chose Hieronymus Bosch, more specifically I decided to focus on his use of
owls in his paintings. Bosch was a very interesting dude and his paintings are weird. People who have
minds like Bosch fascinate me. My mind doesn t work like that and I find it very interesting and I can
t even imagine what kinds of conversations Bosch had with his fellow artist at the time.
Another reason why I chose to look into the owls is because I love owls. I always knew that owls
symbolize with wisdom and knowledge and erudition that can see through obscurity (and as the bird
of Athena/Minerva, the goddess of wisdom), the owl appears frequently in the emblems of scholarly
publishing houses and book stores (Biedermann, 250) but Bosch gives his owls different symbolic
meanings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has many symbols but mainly owls and nakedness. Before Bosch was even alive and working, owl
images, motifs, and drawings had already became symbolic. Owl motifs were seen in Babylonian and
Egyptian reliefs, Ancient Greek and later in Roman art, according to Jelena Melnikova Grigorjeva,
Olga Bogdanova. In Christianity, on one hand, owl depicted as Christ, and on the other hand, owl
depicted as sinners, With their nocturnal habits, solitude, silent flight, and plaintive cry, owls came to
symbolize a turning away from spiritual light or, conversely, Jesus Christ in the night of suffering and
death (Biedermann, 250). It seems like owls have negative associations. Even Renaissance artists
associate owls with death, delusion, and temptation, although sometimes that temptation is for
knowledge and

Example Of Civil Disobedience
Doing the right thing is difficult. One is required to make decisions that may not be the popular choice
in the public s eyes. To show what s right, one must take a peaceful stand on an issue against authority
and be willing to face consequences. This is the act of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is a
tough concept to grasp. People have a hard time doing the right thing when the authority tells us to do
otherwise because they do not want to be reprimanded and have the burden that something bad might
happen to them. An example of civil disobedience would be the midwives. The midwives were
Egyptian, and they saved the little Jewish boys, even though they were told to kill them. The text
states that the midwives feared god , but in fact, they did the right thing. Rambam states that Pharaoh s
policy said, If the latter did not wish to pursue his policy of discrimination openly so, as not to arouse
opposition to the atrocity involved. This applies to the Jewish woman because if we say that the
midwives were Egyptian, another message becomes visible. The Torah states that a person can resist
evil, and they do not have to take orders from superiors. Civil Disobedience is then brought about
because the midwives were not jewish, but they were righteous egyptian women. Being in the wrong
to authority seems worse than not helping people, but if anyone genuinely thinks that, I believe they re
false. Peacefully going against the norm is completely fair. Although, there

Bilingual Phenomenon
1. Introduction What is bilingualism? It is very difficult yet problematic to define bilingualism
because many people with different bilingual characteristics might be classified as bilingual (National
Association for Language Development in the Curriculum, 2011). What we can simply clarify is that
bilingualism is the ability to use two languages. As we all know, Hong Kong, a modern city of the
world, is a well known bilingual city based on historical, economic, political and social factors. And in
our daily lives, it seems really common to see people have bilingual communication under different
circumstances, which is also known as the bilingual phenomenon.

Take the GovHK as an example. The information and contents given in the GovHK are bilingual,
which means people can switch the language as they know better. What s more, formal language and
high variety of language should be used in terms of instructions and government, which means code
mixing and code switching are not allowed to occur in the government websites.
4.3 Bilingual phenomenon in education As mentioned above, due to the high demand of bilingualism,
students, as social instructors in the future, should have a good command of bilingualism. Thus, the
government has been promoting the biliterate and trilingual society for many years. So English has
been the medium of instruction in all the universities in Hong Kong and many primary and secondary
schools. In those EMI schools, both teachers and students speak English in class while they might still
speak Chinese in their daily lives. In this case, bilingual communication is common in their daily
lives.

Reflection On Professional Development
In this short essay my own personal view on professional development will be made evident through
reviewing past experiences, allowing recommendations for better practice to occur. Other topics
discussed and analysed will be; the structure of the organisation, the effectiveness on leadership and
management. My own role within the organisational structure will be reflected on, considering the
impact of skills in practice, further, justifying what I will need for future personal and professional
development.
Reflective practice is an important tool, as people learn from their own professional experiences
(Pascal and Brown, 2009). Reflection provides opportunity for furthering personal and professional
development (Nganga, 2011). As it helps to certify knowledge skills and experience that is used within
practice (Freire, 1972).
Boud, Keogh and Walker (1985) states that, looking through past and present experiences helps with
progression in the future. The reflection on practice is finding the weaknesses and overcoming them
(Dyer and Taylor, 2012).
Johns (2000) situates that a number of models can help to structure a reflection. As they provide a
framework that helps develop a deeper understanding and analysis. One reflective model is Schön
(2002) the model of reflection in action and reflection on action. This model is beneficial to use as it
involves working on getting to the bottom of what is happening in the experience process, such as; the
decisions made and the feelings felt at that time of the event. Reflection on action involves looking
over the event and drawing on professional knowledge to understand what happened and why it
happened and to develop deeper knowledge (Thompson and Pascal, 2012). However, this is not the
only model that could be used. Other models such as Kolb (1984), Gibbs (1988) and Brookfield
(1995) have different frameworks to help breakdown an issue.
I like to use Schön (2002) model in the workplace as I am thinking about what I am doing as I am
doing it. This does not provide a lot of time to think in depth and to break the event down, leading to
not gaining a better understanding of what happened, without this I have no targets to better my
professional development.

Risks And Consequences Of Employees
With the world we live in rapidly changing, the world we once knew so well is now a thing of the
past. With the constant changes and advancements occurring in the business world, its essential for
employers to invest in employees who are willing to take intelligent risks in order for their business to
flourish. However, within the constantly changing world we live in today, finding prospective
employees with this risk taking characteristic are hard to find. Many people in our society today are in
constant fear of failure which is why none of them are taking risks. But what many of these people

However, this is only deemed true if we see how this mistake is influencing our life. But the dilemma
many people face is instead of trying to understand why this mistake is occurring and how this
mistake is impacting them, many people avoid the fact that they even made one solely because they
don t want to be seen as imperfect or, in other words, a failure. In his essay, How to Learn From
Mistakes , Scott Berkun states, refusing to acknowledge mistakes, or tendencies to make similar kinds
of mistakes, is a refusal to acknowledge reality. If you can t see the gaps, flaws, or weaknesses in your
behavior you re forever trapped in the same behavior and limitations you ve always had, possibly
since you were a child (Berkun). With this being said, in order to improve we have to face our
mistakes head on rather than avoid them. If we constantly avoid them, a lesson is never learned which
results in risks being taken that could be detrimental to an individual s personal success and more
importantly, in this case, their success in the workplace. Having the ability to cope with change is
essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle in your personal life and your life at work. Change can happen
so quickly many people are not mentally prepared for it when it occurs. However, in the business
world, it is something that constantly happens and there is no way around it. This is one of the key

What are the disaster areas that tourist wants to go?
2. Why those people wants to try the disaster tourism?
3. What are the advantages that they can get in disaster tourism?
Discussion
Disaster areas/places There are a lot of disaster places in the universe but what I will write down is the
most disaster places in the Philippines that tourists always go. First is the Minor Basilica and
Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, this cathedral was originally the church of
manila established in 1571 by a secular priest, Juan de Vivero, who arrived in Manila Bay in 1566.
When the church was raised to a cathedral in 1579, a new structure made from nipa, wood, and
bamboo was constructed in 1581 by Domingo de Salazar, the first bishop of Manila. The new
structure was consecrated on December 21, 1581, formally becoming a cathedral. The structure was
destroyed by fire in 1583, which started during the funeral Mass for Governor General Gonzalo
Ronquillo de Peñalosa in San Agustin Church that razed much of the

Music Assignment Term 3 2015
Ray Charles
Many look at Jazz Musician Ray Chaeles as being the Father of Soul , as he virtually created Soul
music. By bring together the genera s of gospel, blues, country, and jazz, Charles was able to create a
groundbreaking style of music that had not yet been heard of in the music industry.
Born Ray Charles Robinson on the 23rd of September 1930 in Albany, Georgia, Charles was raised by
his two parents. Charles had witnessed the droning death of his younger brother, which had left him
traumatised, and soon after this, at the age of 6, he contracted glaucoma, which was left untreated, and
eventually left him completely blind. Charles attended the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in
St. Augustine, Florida, where he learned to read, write and compose music in Braille. But his love for
music started way before attending school, as he had learnt to play the piano before the age of five. ...

Defense In Football
Every Defense in football is different, but there are some parallels no matter how unique a defense is.
Every defense has a defensive front, different coverages, unique blitzes, and they all have the same
positions. Defense is what gives a team an edge. It is the difference in a good team and a great team. A
good defense keeps the opposing team s offense off of the field, limiting their chances to score. While
doing so, they are increasing their chances to score by keeping their team s offense on the field as
much as possible.
The foundation of every defense is the defensive front. The front refers to where each position is when
lined up. The seven most common fronts are the 4 3, the 3 4, the 4 4, the 5 2, the 5 3, the 6 2, the Goal
Line Defense. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

NFL today. The 1980 s is when the short passing game started to become very popular among the
upper levels of football. Before this, football was all about power, ball control offenses. As a result,
that is what defenses were used to defending. As short precision passing offenses became more and
more popular, defenses need an answer to stop these offenses. The answer was the zone blitz. The
zone blitz allows five men to rush the quarter back, attempting to disrupt the quarterback. If that fails,
the defense still has six men in coverage. The zone blitz is still very popular in the NFL

Darwinism And Religion Gould Summary
At the beginning of the essay Gould made a clear reference to a dear friend, Kirtley Mather, who was
a pillar of both science and Christian religion in America (Gould, 1981). Comparatively, this appealed
to the emotions of the reader, unlike most scholarly works Gould reminded the reader of his humanity.
Often, Christians relate evolution as being the work of a devil, or some form of subhuman, out to
misguide their faith; therefore, the reader assumed this was Gould s way of facilitating a viable
connection with biased readers before undermining creationism. Darwinism is known as the theory of
evolution, and creationists repeatedly utilize a mistaken vernacular of the word theory to denounce
evolution. Although, a theory is part of a hierarchy of confidence running downhill from fact to theory
to hypothesis to guess (Gould, 1981). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, Gould explained how theories are the anatomy behind ideas, which attempt to decipher
facts. Facts are data, they form the fabric of reality, but like Gould said, Einstein s theory of
gravitation replaced Newton s, but apples did not suspend themselves in mid air, pending the outcome.
And humans evolved from apelike ancestors whether they did so by Darwin s proposed mechanism or
by some other, yet to be discovered (Gould, 1981). In other words, Darwinism is a theory, but human
genetics were, without a doubt, sown from the same seeds as apes, and even if another theory replaces
Darwinism our ancestry will remain the

Energy and Material Use in Semiconductor Devices

science fiction: One scientist is working to make them part of everyday reality. The computer that
controls the environment in Warwick s office recognizes his presence because the implant a glass

then adjust the lights and heat to Warwick s pre set preferences. The key to implants usefulness is that
unique signal, which many speculate could be used as a cross between a social security number and a
PIN, allowing computers in your home, workplace, car, grocery store, and hospital to recognize you.
You wouldn t have to worry about losing your keys again: Your car and your house would
automatically admit you. (Of course, if the implant broke or the computers went down, you d face the
high tech equivalent of losing your keys.) At the bank or grocery store, implantees could transfer
funds or buy provisions without ever having to reach for a wallet or purse. Such implants might tempt
criminals to attack individuals and forcibly remove the implants in order to steal a person s identity or
access his bank account. However, implants could be designed to give off a distress signal if they were

If you go to the store today you will more than likely come across a package of meat that reads
antibiotic free . Now, to the average consumer who knows very little about the agricultural industry,
they would more than likely assume that antibiotics are bad just by the antibiotic free labeling.
All meat is antibiotic free. So buying meat that is labeled antibiotic free is like buying water that is

of our food. One of those is a withdrawal period from antibiotics. (Mountjoy 2014) So even though
antibiotics were used to treat the animal, the antibiotics are not present when you ingest the meat,
therefor, all meat is antibiotic free.
People are always making an argument that animals should have the majority of the rights us as
humans have. So, Is it humane to sit there and watch your dog suffer and not do anything about it?
Producers are being forced to watch their animals mortality rate increase rapidly. Consumers are
convinced that antibiotics are bad, due to the niche market that some farmers have chose to present
consumers with, just so they can make an extra buck. Now, that is not always the case, some farmers

African Dust and Microbial Pathogens Essay example
The atmosphere is a relatively unexplored and unthought of environment for a microbial habitat.
Approximately 0.5 to 5.0 billion tons of dust travels in the atmosphere each year throughout the globe
or within a particular region (Perkins, 2001). Dust is transported from Africa, other countries with
large deserts and contains diverse microbial communities (bacteria and fungi) often containing
pathogens. Data presented within the current and past century has shown that microbes are capable of
withstanding environments exposing them to desiccation, UV, and other physical stresses, making
them a good candidate for airborne global travel. Knowledge of these various microbes is increasing
due to concerns over human health and oceanic diseases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most dust circulates to the Caribbean, North and Central America during June through October
(Graham, 1979). Climate change has greatly affected dust transport partially because of decreased
rainfall. Anthropogenic influence creates aerosols in the atmosphere and are derived from three
primary sources: biomass burning, desert dust and pollution due to anthropogenic effects. Increasing
agricultural land use (over grazing and over farming) are just a few of the contributing problems. The
dust created by increasing desertification provides issues for human and marine health. Generally, ill
health is correlated to higher dust storm rates, bacteria and fungi can be carried across seas for
international infection, and dust storms can damage Florida flora by blocking sunlight preventing
photosynthesis. Currently, there is still much information to be studied on African dust and how it
affects various organisms. It is widely accepted that studies of African dust confirm human impact on
the environment must decrease and we must find more efficient ways of agricultural development
otherwise problems will continue to arise in many forms.
Coral reef decline has thought to be linked with the rise of African dust, due to the demise of reef
health since 1970. Since 1974, 29 major marine outbreaks have been recorded and of the 29, 20 of
them were located in the Atlantic basin and nearby areas (Sherman et al., 1992). 8 of the 29

The final step is buying your big ticket items. Getting your dress can make it feel that it is really going

see what you are looking for and help you with some suggestions on what type of dresses will look

you trust and respect their opinion. Don t forget your bride maid s dresses and your groom s tuxedos.
Another big ticket item is flowers. Talk to your florist about what you want and arrange them to do the

Tone mapping technique used to map high dynamic range images to low dynamic range image that

task depends on the same mapping function is used for all the pixels of the input HDR image so,
global operators can be described as spatially uniform methods. Global tone mapping operators are
computationally very simple and maintain the intensity orders of the original scenes thus avoiding
halo artifacts, but cause loss of details in the mapped images. Local operators which reproduce the
tonal values in a spatially variant manner because mapping function processes for each individual
pixel. Local operators characterized that more satisfying than global operators in terms of the detail
preservation and compression ratio of the dynamic range. Also, there are two tone mapping model
linear tone mapping model and nonlinear tone mapping model. Linear model does not need multiscale
decomposition or segmentation of the images into binary or fractional maps, where the problems
associated with layer decomposition are not found. Linear model not only interested in making the

interesting because the firm will not give you a bonus just for being there, but you need to bring

monstrous Victorian women. Relationships of any emotional worth are rendered impossible between
Helena and her daughter Cecily because of a life long separation imposed by the father. It is

Her life to this point has been dictated by men. She does what she is allowed to do and little else. Her
husband did not allow Cecily s return until she was twenty one years old because he simply would not
hear of her coming before (15). Helena is expected to be maternal with a young woman whom she has
not been allowed to raise. This is an un fair position to be placed in by a requently absent husband.
Helena does not want to feel old and is resolved to be young until [she] is old (15). She would rather
not be reminded of her middle age by the maternally successful Mrs. Morgan or the presence of her
youthful attractive daughter. With her daughter present she will lose the status of lady and gain
attention as the mother of a twenty one year old woman. The relationship is tagged on too late by a

anything else other than a servant to her husband. Cecily did not stand a chance of having a

story. No doubt there is truth to the story, but it s lack of humour and it s absence of love puts

The protagonist of Slaughterhouse Five is Billy Pilgrim. His situation in the war was identical to

After the publishing of Slaughterhouse Five in 1969,
Vonnegut told Playboy, I didnøt have to write at all anymore if

Much of the day to day work for police and law enforcement is to enforce traffic rules and responding
to accidents. Having autonomous vehicles would mean fewer police would be needed for these tasks.
According to McKinsey, their projects are trying to promote that in the future, autonomous vehicles

Americans. According to American officials who spoke to a Washington Post reporter on condition of
anonymity, a former Guantanamo detainee who was transferred to Libya in 2007 only to be released
the following year was likely involved in the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the American embassy
compound in Benghazi that killed U.S. ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.
The administration is releasing dangerous terrorist to countries that can t control them said Royce, the

Politics Of The Veil
In The Politics of the Veil by Joan Wallach Scott, she argues about the proponents of the law on
holding France s values of liberalism and the wearing of headscarves. Wearing headscarf known as
hijab has faced discrimination to all female Muslim all over the world. Students who are well behaved
should have their right to protect themselves as women. According to the reading The Politics of the
Veil Muslim headscarves were taken to be a violation on French secularism, however, if everyone was
to be individual with commitment like France as well Muslims where to dress differently, why it wasn

Same as to women s wearing headscarf when going out there homes. However, De Tocqueville and
Cesaire believed of the rights of man and women, but at the same time did not. An example, according
to Cesaire reading he said we aspired not to equality, but to domination he is telling use readers that
equality it s enough compared to domination on other countries. I can compare women s rights on
wearing headscarf to men having their rights according to Benito Mussolini reading. His idea was

many women s in France wearing headscarf I would probably follow the law and believed why us
women can t were headscarf. In other words, I won t like it if other people would consider me as

have the rights to wear headscarf is a much more problem for them to keep their more protected. I
strongly disagree with not letting girls wear headscarf even if they are good students, with no
discipline records. Although this was a problem for poor families who really had to follow the law
because they had to make sure they Childs attend classes. Finally, not all French people followed up
the rules and the law, which cause it more to the Muslims because it connected them with the law that
many French people didn t

Sustainability:
Darden Restaurant has an informal sustainability report. It looks like a checklist to me because it lists
the company s goals and status. The report is only a couple of pages with Darden Restaurant s most
updated goals and performance summary for that period. The latest sustainability report that I found
on the Darden Restaurant s official website is from 2015. Although the goals stated in 2015
sustainability report are achieved, yet the company still wants to maintain

  • 2. The Marxist And Feminist Perspectives The marxist and feminist perspectives are both are utilized to gain a deeper understanding of literature. The feminist lens deals with the role of gender within literature, and the marxist lens focuses on the context of culture and society within literature. Each perspective plays off the other to create a cohesive approach to analyzing Brave New World. Aldous Huxley s Brave New World highlights the issues associated with a society with a disproportional basis in manufactured social structures. These dysfunctional social structures are created through a fundamental irony: knowledge both unities and destroys humanity. Huxley shows mankind, for the first time in history, united; however, the knowledge and intellect that created this ever lasting peace is also the same factor that stripped mankind of everything that makes it human. Aldous Huxley s dystopian society, within Brave New World, shows that knowledge is the unifying and destroying thread of humanity through the fabricated social hierarchy and preconditioned gender roles. The underpinning of Huxley s Brave New World is the unifying thread of mankind: knowledge. Through the course of history, mankind has struggled to find and maintain peace. Through the ages, religion has both unified and divided civilizations often bringing extreme human casualty, in the case of division, or creating interesting new cultures, in the case of the latter. In the Ancient civilizations such as the Greek, Kush and Egyptian empires religion serves as a catalyst further strengthening the bond found in such homogeneous societies. • 7. The Importance Of Teaching In Education Introduction Education is about in parting knowledge based on one s belief, truth and justification with the purpose of surviving in this changing world. Highly educated people are well recognized and given high reputation in the society. Hence, teaching is a process of sharing information between the teacher and students in a positive, caring, changing and stress free environment where new knowledge must be constructed and tested through student teacher interaction using different strategies so that children could master knowledge and skills of desired fields including values, ethics, and other social knowledge. To fulfill this purpose, teachers should be active, forward thinking, energetic, knowledgeable, sincere and punctual for changing one s truth, belief and justification. To satisfy these educational needs, learning should be a fun mechanism for students in which they enjoy by responding, interacting, socializing, inventing, sharing, discovering and deciding about knowledge, skills, values, ethics and discipline by expressing a permanent change in behaviour. As learning is defined as a permanent change in behaviour, it is teacher s interest to consider teaching as a personal challenge in which students are diverted to a more progressive learning environment where they make their own judgment based on what they experience with exposure to real life like activities. The Theory Of Plate Tectonics Plate Tectonics The theory of plate tectonics has been explored throughout history because of similarities in coastal boundaries and other evidence found such as fossil records, geometric fit, mountain episodes, the paleoclimate observed, information about the ocean floor, ancient magnetism, distribution of volcanoes and earthquakes and heat flow from the earths core. There were early theories from Wegner s continental drift which lacked an explanation for the mechanism that drove the continents apart, to Wilson s more complete theory of the cyclical opening and closing of the ocean basins due to movement of the earth s plates. The theory explains how today s continents were once a large supercontinent that slowly drifted to their present positions and will again form one giant continent via collision. According to the Natego film Colliding Continents, the landmasses are liable to drift back to each other through plate tectonic activity. One of the few places on Earth where one can see continents being pushed apart is in Iceland, where the mid Atlantic ridge in shows above the surface and shows how oceanic crust is made, the ridge in Iceland is almost three miles wide on one side you have the Eurasian plate and the other is the American plate. As a result, it is expected that whatever negative linkage there may be between income inequality and life evaluations should be stronger for well being inequality. this paper is providing three sorts of evidence that supports this hypothesis. The thing that was not really clear to me was why SWL utility function is chosen to be cardinal in the models since from most branches of economics, the concept of cardinal utility has been eliminated as redundant because ordinal utility has been found to suffice for doing the job. It would have been better if the authors explained that Cardinal utility has been kept only in welfare economics to support the demand for a more equal income distribution. The authors also consider the likely risks that well being inequality in the regions or countries with higher level of well being may be estimated with a downward bias. The resulting reduction in the magnitude of estimated coefficients could be best seen as an upper bound on the part of the correlation that can be ascribed to a mechanical result of how SWL is reported. Another reason why I chose to look into the owls is because I love owls. I always knew that owls symbolize with wisdom and knowledge and erudition that can see through obscurity (and as the bird of Athena/Minerva, the goddess of wisdom), the owl appears frequently in the emblems of scholarly publishing houses and book stores (Biedermann, 250) but Bosch gives his owls different symbolic meanings. ... • 12. Example Of Civil Disobedience Doing the right thing is difficult. One is required to make decisions that may not be the popular choice in the public s eyes. To show what s right, one must take a peaceful stand on an issue against authority and be willing to face consequences. This is the act of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is a tough concept to grasp. People have a hard time doing the right thing when the authority tells us to do otherwise because they do not want to be reprimanded and have the burden that something bad might happen to them. An example of civil disobedience would be the midwives. The midwives were Egyptian, and they saved the little Jewish boys, even though they were told to kill them. The text states that the midwives feared god , but in fact, they did the right thing. Rambam states that Pharaoh s policy said, If the latter did not wish to pursue his policy of discrimination openly so, as not to arouse opposition to the atrocity involved. This applies to the Jewish woman because if we say that the midwives were Egyptian, another message becomes visible. The Torah states that a person can resist evil, and they do not have to take orders from superiors. Civil Disobedience is then brought about because the midwives were not jewish, but they were righteous egyptian women. Being in the wrong to authority seems worse than not helping people, but if anyone genuinely thinks that, I believe they re false. Peacefully going against the norm is completely fair. It is very difficult yet problematic to define bilingualism because many people with different bilingual characteristics might be classified as bilingual (National Association for Language Development in the Curriculum, 2011). As we all know, Hong Kong, a modern city of the world, is a well known bilingual city based on historical, economic, political and social factors. Reflection On Professional Development In this short essay my own personal view on professional development will be made evident through reviewing past experiences, allowing recommendations for better practice to occur. Other topics discussed and analysed will be; the structure of the organisation, the effectiveness on leadership and management. My own role within the organisational structure will be reflected on, considering the impact of skills in practice, further, justifying what I will need for future personal and professional development. Reflective practice is an important tool, as people learn from their own professional experiences (Pascal and Brown, 2009). Reflection provides opportunity for furthering personal and professional development (Nganga, 2011). As it helps to certify knowledge skills and experience that is used within practice (Freire, 1972). Boud, Keogh and Walker (1985) states that, looking through past and present experiences helps with progression in the future. The reflection on practice is finding the weaknesses and overcoming them (Dyer and Taylor, 2012). Johns (2000) situates that a number of models can help to structure a reflection. As they provide a framework that helps develop a deeper understanding and analysis. One reflective model is Schön (2002) the model of reflection in action and reflection on action. This model is beneficial to use as it involves working on getting to the bottom of what is happening in the experience process, such as; the decisions made and the feelings felt at that time of the event. Reflection on action involves looking over the event and drawing on professional knowledge to understand what happened and why it happened and to develop deeper knowledge (Thompson and Pascal, 2012). However, this is not the only model that could be used. Other models such as Kolb (1984), Gibbs (1988) and Brookfield (1995) have different frameworks to help breakdown an issue. I like to use Schön (2002) model in the workplace as I am thinking about what I am doing as I am doing it. This does not provide a lot of time to think in depth and to break the event down, leading to not gaining a better understanding of what happened, without this I have no targets to better my professional development. ... • 23. Darwinism And Religion Gould Summary At the beginning of the essay Gould made a clear reference to a dear friend, Kirtley Mather, who was a pillar of both science and Christian religion in America (Gould, 1981). Comparatively, this appealed to the emotions of the reader, unlike most scholarly works Gould reminded the reader of his humanity. Often, Christians relate evolution as being the work of a devil, or some form of subhuman, out to misguide their faith; therefore, the reader assumed this was Gould s way of facilitating a viable connection with biased readers before undermining creationism. Darwinism is known as the theory of evolution, and creationists repeatedly utilize a mistaken vernacular of the word theory to denounce evolution. The computer that controls the environment in Warwick s office recognizes his presence because the implant a glass capsule 23 millimeters long containing kilogram microchips sends a unique signal. The computer can then adjust the lights and heat to Warwick s pre set preferences. The key to implants usefulness is that unique signal, which many speculate could be used as a cross between a social security number and a PIN, allowing computers in your home, workplace, car, grocery store, and hospital to recognize you. You wouldn t have to worry about losing your keys again: Your car and your house would automatically admit you. (Of course, if the implant broke or the computers went down, you d face the high tech equivalent of losing your keys.) Approximately 0.5 to 5.0 billion tons of dust travels in the atmosphere each year throughout the globe or within a particular region (Perkins, 2001). Dust is transported from Africa, other countries with large deserts and contains diverse microbial communities (bacteria and fungi) often containing pathogens. Data presented within the current and past century has shown that microbes are capable of withstanding environments exposing them to desiccation, UV, and other physical stresses, making them a good candidate for airborne global travel. Most dust circulates to the Caribbean, North and Central America during June through October (Graham, 1979). Climate change has greatly affected dust transport partially because of decreased rainfall. Anthropogenic influence creates aerosols in the atmosphere and are derived from three primary sources: biomass burning, desert dust and pollution due to anthropogenic effects. Increasing agricultural land use (over grazing and over farming) are just a few of the contributing problems. The dust created by increasing desertification provides issues for human and marine health. Generally, ill health is correlated to higher dust storm rates, bacteria and fungi can be carried across seas for international infection, and dust storms can damage Florida flora by blocking sunlight preventing photosynthesis. Currently, there is still much information to be studied on African dust and how it affects various organisms. It is widely accepted that studies of African dust confirm human impact on the environment must decrease and we must find more efficient ways of agricultural development otherwise problems will continue to arise in many forms. Coral reef decline has thought to be linked with the rise of African dust, due to the demise of reef health since 1970. The tone mapping operators can be classified into two categories: global operators and local operators. Global tone mapping operators are computationally very simple and maintain the intensity orders of the original scenes thus avoiding halo artifacts, but cause loss of details in the mapped images. Local operators which reproduce the tonal values in a spatially variant manner because mapping function processes for each individual pixel. Local operators characterized that more satisfying than global operators in terms of the detail preservation and compression ratio of the dynamic range.
