Teleological Arguments Essay
The argument from design or the teleological argument points to the existence of order and
direction in nature to a kind of purpose. The argument essentially proves the existence of God. A
designer must exist because the universe and living things exhibit marks of design in their
complexity. Design type arguments are unproblematic when based upon things nature plainly could
not or would not produce, like human artifacts. If designs entail a designer, and the universe shows
marks of design, then the universe was created. An intelligent designer is an entity that the
intelligent designmovement argues had some role in the development of life. Essentially, the claim
being made is that certain aspects of the universe are too perfectly... Show more content on

However, if one stumbled across a stone it would be difficult for one to explain how it got there.
Secondly, just as the complexity of a watch imply intelligent design, Paley suggested that the
universe too implies intelligent design. The eye is usually used as an example of design. I know
no better method of introducing so large a subject, than that of comparing a single thing with a
single thing; an eye, for example, with a telescope (Klemke 32). Paley stated that both of these are
instruments and bear resemblance to one another. In order for the eye or telescope to work, there
must be many dissimilar convergent parts that individually have no role but have value only in a
designed whole. Therefore, it is only in the joined unity that they exhibit their total function.
David Hume counter argued against the argument from design. He noted that although we know
that man made structures are designed because we have seen them being built, the analogy does not
hold for non man made structures. A theist must be able to show that natural objects in the universe
were manufactured in some way. For example, trees, humans and rocks. The analogy then requires
the existence of an intelligent designer. Hume criticizes the claim that artifacts and the universe are
similar in the right ways because we have only had experience with just one universe. He rejects the
analogy between the material universe and a human

LAB 11: Performing a Web Site and Database Attack by Exploiting Identified Vulnerabilities
1.Why is it critical to perform a penetration test on a Web application and a Web server prior to
production implementation?
Essentially, performing a penetration test on a web application or web server, prior to
implementation, is critical to exposing and/or correcting any existing security flaws. In fact, such
penetration testing is critical to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of a
given web application or service. Also, penetration testing should be performed on a regular basis,
or whenever a given web application or service is modified, in order to detect any possible security
vulnerabilities and/or flaws.
2.What is a cross site scripting attack? Explain in your own words.
Simply put, cross site scripting refers to the malicious injection of scripting code, into a given
web server or application, in order to exploit or extract information and/or data, or even modify
the contents of the targeted web server or application. Regarding cross site scripting, cross site
scripting attacks utilize the process of cross site scripting, and may be classified into two
categories: persistent, or stored, and non persistent, or reflective.
3.What is a reflective cross site scripting attack?
Classified as a type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, an organization s security policy should dictate that no production of any given web
application, residing either inside or outside of a firewall, should be implemented without extensive,

along with various security procedures, regularly scheduled monitoring, penetration testing, and
observance may aid in ensuring an organization incorporates proper web application testing

Articles Of Confederation And Decentralization Of The States
Under the Articles of Confederation, the United States government was decentralized. The states
had more power than the federal government. State governments had the power to tax but the
federal government did not (Janda 62). This caused congress to have to beg for money from the
states in order to pay for the cost of the Revolutionary War and the cost of starting a new nation.
Another issue under the Articles of Confederationwas the lack of economic control the federal
government had on the states (63). The national government attempted to restrict foreign imports
but the states did not listen and continued making deals with foreign countries. This caused debt
and bankruptcy to fall upon numerous states. The Articles of Confederation also

Coles Phillips 1911 Life Magazine Analysis
Coles Phillips creates his own type of girl during the teens of the century with the fadeaway girl .
To do this, he would combine parts of the foreground and background through one color. Phillips
specialized in closure, where one erases details of the picture but it can still be read as a
completed image. He used simplicity and seperated values to define form by the objects around it,
utilizing negative space to its utmost ability. In his 1911 Life Magazine cover, he uses the blocks

Analysis Of The Poem Upon The Burning Of Our House
Since its early days, America has had strong core values based in Christian theology, European
traditions, and Western ideals and morals. The Christian religion (and its many varying tendrils)
has helped unify our nation for centuries. The founders of what is today the United States of
America came over to this continent avoiding persecution for their religion from European
powers. While there have been plethora wars and struggles across Europe over religion, thankfully
they have never showed their face in America, although it is most certainly a part of our heritage.
However, it can not be said that Christianity is the only influence that has been exerted on the
American culture. Pagan and secular traditions and superstitions have been passed from ancient
Greece to ancient Rome, then from the wreckage of those empires in Europe, and carried on all
the way through the Dark Ages to 1600 s pilgrims who carried their culture to a new continent:
North America. A remarkably early American poet was Anne Bradstreet, who wrote the poem Upon
the Burning of Our House, which is a tribute to God. The most important and obvious value that
Bradstreet emphasizes in her poem is her devotion to God. Throughout this poem she mentions him
seven times as being her support and lord. In the second stanza she prays that god will strengthen
me in my distress. This demonstrates to us that she trusts God to take care of her, despite the
extreme traumatic experience she just endured. She uses

Organizational Structure and Culture
Organizational Structure and Culture
Introduction
In this week s assignment we will be looking at organizational structure and organizational culture.
We will first look at how organizational culture impacts organizational structure and vice versa.
Then look at how organizational structure interacts and impacts the organization s decision process.
Organizational Cultures Impact on Organizational Structure The first part of this week s assignment
was to look at how organizational structure impacts organizational culture and vice versa. But before
we look at that let us review what organizational structure and culture are. Organizational culture as
defined from the text is the shared values, principles, traditions, and ways of doing things that
influence the way organizational members set (Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2013). Also an
organization s culture usually reflects the vision or mission of the organization s founders
(Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2013). Organizational structure is a hierarchical arrangement of lines
of authority, communication, rights and duties of an organization (BusinessDictionary.com, 2013).
Organizational structure determines how the roles, power and responsibilities are assigned,
controlled, and coordinated, and how information flows between different levels of management
(BusinessDictionary.com, 2013). Now with a review of what organizational structure and culture
are let us look how they impact each other. There are many examples of structure

Procedures Expectant Mothers Can Follow to Avoid a C-Section
Many expecting mothers today do not know the risk factor associated with C Section. They tend
to follow the instructions giving to them by their doctors without researching other options. This
handbook provides information on procedures expectant mothers can follow to avoid getting a C
section when it is time for them to give birth. The purpose of this handbook is to advise expectant
mothers to avoid getting a C section when it is time for them to give birth. In addition, the report
discusses what a C section is and the risk factors associated with it. This report points out that
many doctors and hospitals tend to preform unnecessary C sections in order to gain more money.

In fact, according to researcher Lilian Prest depending upon the hospital and region, pain
medication rates are as high as 90 percent, with the vast majority of women choosing an epidural.
The fact is that most women try to find ways to avoid the pain of labor without knowing the risk,
associated with pain free labor. This is because many women are terrified of the labor pain and
never even considered delivering naturally. The fear of labor pain is just too strong to allow
most to consider natural birth. There are many benefits of natural birth, such as, the mother
being in control of her body and seeing what is happening to her and baby. Women have been
delivering babies naturally for centuries. It is what their bodies are designed to do. Even though
expectant women go through a lot of labor pain, they should still consider natural birth.
Expectant mothers should educate themselves more about natural birth. This is because there are
many consequences and high risk associated with drug intake to release pain and caesarean
delivery. This is because if more women are aware about the facts involved with using these
medications, they will correctly choose what is best for their own bodies and the health of their
babies. III.RISK FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH CESAREAN DELIVERY Cesarean delivery,

Dangers Involved with Internet Usage Essays
Dangers Involved with Internet Usage
The Internet today is constantly advancing and expanding. Over the last several years it has
changed the way that we learn, communicate, shop and conduct business. Although there are many
advantages to the Internet, there are also many serious problems that occur with Internet use. Some
of the problems of the Internet include, cyberstalking and identity theft and Internet addiction.
Although the Internet cannot be blamed for the creation of these problems, using the Internet as a
tool has made these problems bigger. The term cyberstalking was unknown to most people ten
years ago, however due to lower costs and the increased access to computers, today it is a
commonly used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cyberstalkers often pretend to be someone else and get their victims to open up to them and share
personal information with them. These thieves can then use the information to do a number of
things. They can open a new credit account using your name, date of birth, and Social Security
number and use your card, not pay the bill and it is reported to your account. They can call your
credit card company change the address obtain a new card and use it. They can even establish
phones in your name or open up bank accounts and write bad checks on that account. (Netscape)
There are several way that you can protect yourself from becoming a victim of cyberstalking and
identity theft over the Internet. Some tips include:
*Do not share personal information in public spaces anywhere online, nor give it to strangers,
including in e mail or chat rooms. Do not use your real name or nickname as your screen name or
user Id. Pick a name that is gender and race neutral. And do not post personal information as past of
any user profiles.
*Be extremely cautious about meeting online acquaintances in person. If you do choose to meet,
do so in a public place and take along a friend.
*Make sure that your ISP and Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network have an acceptable use policy
that prohibits cyberstalking. And if you network fails to respond to your complaints consider
switching to a provider that is more responsive to user complaints.
*If a situation online becomes

The Adaptive Immune System
The immune system is split into two groups, innate and adaptive.
Innate immunity refers to nonspecific defense mechanisms that, during exposure of an antigen, act
at once or within a few hours . Physical barriers like skin, chemicals in the blood, and cells in the
immune system that attack foreign cells are examples of defense mechanisms. An antigen s chemical
make up is what triggers the innate immune to respond.
Adaptive immunity however, is antigen specific, has immunologic memory and consists of
responses of both T and B cells. It is more complex than the innate immunity, as processing and
recognizing the antigen must first be done before immune cells can be created by the adaptive
immune system to attack it.
The innate and acquired

A Brief Note On The City Of California
(Anecdote) Growing up in Cathedral City, California was quite different compared to living in
Palm Desert, California. To say the least, danger seemed to be a popular subject in that town.
Soon enough, my siblings, Laura and Daniel, and I had grown accustom to hearing gunshots and
the sirens of emergency services being repeated as much as the songs on the radio. As clearly
shown, our community was not exactly what my family expected when we moved there. Not only
was gunfire a regular background noise, but on multiple occasions, strangers decided it would be
acceptable to sneak into our backyard and steal our belongings, which in reality did not have much
value. Although most times they would quickly come and go, once there was a man who... Show

Throughout Paulo Coelho s the Alchemist, the four most significant themes were love, omens,
fate, and dreams. *Love is what can cause a person to do their best in the toughest situations.
From the very beginning, Paulo Coelho introduces Santiago s first love interest who happened
to be the merchant s daughter, a girl the shepherd never stopped thinking about (8). This first
love is what gave Santiago the strength to do better for himself. Later in his journey, he arrived
at the oasis, but he and the Englishman wanted to find the Alchemist. They started questioning
the people who crossed their path if they know about him. Soon after he met Fatima, who he
quickly claimed that he loved and wanted to marry (95 98). The feelings Santiago had towards
Fatima were the genuine kind that would sacrifice everything for her, yet he knew he had to
continue his path. While dreaming about hawks Santiago suddenly got a vision and soon after, is
told that the information should be told to the tribal chieftains and although he first does not
want to he thinks about Fatima and does it for her (103 107). Although Santiago was scared that
they would laugh at him, he soon realized it must have been a sign from god and pushed his
worries aside to protect Fatima. Lastly, even after everything Santiago suffered on his attack he
was happy for he would finally be able to return to Fatima (171). Perhaps if it was not for his

understands the benefit of inclusion in generating ideas. This paper will, therefore, elaborate on the
Ritz Carlton hotel as a familiar organization and duly identifies the various stakeholders that ought
to be involved in its strategic planning process and the paper examines the importance of these
stakeholders and the unique insight they bring to the strategic planning process. Furthermore, the
paper considers the various functional areas that are important and the functional areas that are less

Analysis Of The Poem Ode Of A Nightingale By John Keats
Alaysia Murphy ENG 134 04 Prof. Palmioli 11/3/15 Explication for Ode to a Nightingale
Literature often reflects real life. The world of imagination is a euphoric release from the world of
actuality but paradoxically this world of imagination makes the world of actuality even more
painful than what it is. Human life is often full of conflicts for example, the interconnection or
mixture of pain/joy, intensity of feeling/numbness or lack of feeling, life/death, the actual/the ideal,
and separation/connection. In the poem Ode to a Nightingale written by John Keats, the poet
seems to be praising the nightingale for its melodious tune but upon further investigation it is
revealed that he is actually using the nightingale and its song as a means of escaping the realities
of human life. This poem is about the intense feelings the poet has about the transience about the
nature of reality. Keats discovers the creativity of human life and the morality throughout the
poem. The poet is in search of the pure joy and ecstasy sung in the nightingale s song which is
completely unaware of the anguish and suffering of reality. The poet believes that if he lives a life
similar to that of the nightingale that he will be removed from all pain and anguish. As the poem
progresses the poet ponders different ways of joining the nightingale and what he considers
paradise. He comes to the conclusion that he cannot escape the realities of the human world. Keats
probably wrote this poem when he

Dbq Mongol Empire Essay
Throughout history, empires have controlled vast expanses of the world. Yet no empire has ever
impacted the world s like the Mongols. Spanning from present day Russia to Korea, the Mongol
Empire ruled the Eurasian continent. By modern conventions, legacy is the gift or impact someone
leaves when they die. Noah Feldman once said, Empires inevitably fall, and when they do, history
judges them for the legacies they leave behind. Despite committing some of the greatest atrocities in
recorded history, the legacy of the Mongol Empire is also defined by their ingenious military
campaign, their establishment of Pax Mongolica, and their contribution to immense cross cultural
interaction on the Eurasian continent.

expanded into China and Persia and that during this time, they built canals to improve
communication , sustained agriculture, and allowed and facilitated silk trade and Persian craft
traditions for a long period. Moreover, by establishing peace, they allowed the economy to flourish,
indirectly and directly altering the history of the political world. During this time, they also created

her wet body, beside a tank in Benares .Yes this woman keeps crossing my dreams causing in me
a fearful disturbance, the full meaning of which I have yet to understand. (p.93) This vague
image is later concretized in the form of Bilasia, the Bhil woman whom he finds an ideal
combination of Otherness and the Self. Bilasia s exotic Otherness is clearly seen in her untamed
beauty , her promiscuity and her obvious difference from the respectable wife, Meena. Yet, how
is Bilasia an ideal other for Billy Biswas, the upper class Hindu? Perhaps this may be explained by
the way tribals have generally been viewed as peripheral communities within the dominant Hindu
fold. So while recognizing the tribal Otherness, the Hindu view also makes them accessible.
Moreover, Bilasia has beauty albeit an untamed one and she belongs to the Bhil community, which
has traditionally been seen as possessing many Rajput qualities, like valour, nobility etc.
Incidentally, one may compare the account of Billy s life with that of Verrier Elwin, an Englishman
who came to India as a Christian missionary in 1927. A few years later, varrier Elwin voluntarily

Education Is The Implementation Of A Standard Curriculum
Introduction One of the most significant and prevalent changes seen in education is the
implementation of a standard curriculum. Prior to this effort there were many ineffective
practices that occurred within the nation s schools. According to Girod, G.R., Girod, M (n.d.),
there was a time that students were measured on such things as a spelling test. If you spelled a
certain number of words correctly you were considered a good speller, but did that mean you
actually understood the context of the word or was it just memorization? Although there is much
debate as to whether or not standard curriculum is fair to all students given different learning
styles and aptitudes, in this paper I will go over the some of the important factors and benefits in
implementing a standard curriculum. I will also go over how one district in Tempe does exactly
this. The Importance of Curriculum at the District Level District frameworks are those that are
developed at a local or regional district level. If possible a curriculum committee will be
established at the local level to help address the issues coming from a higher level, according to
Berkas, N., Pattison, C. (2000). The benefit of such district level leadership is that it coordinates
and aligns the curriculum and assessment to ensure alignment with the state and district standards.
A further benefit is that teachers are trained and prepared to meet the higher expectations of the
state and district and to deliver a shared

We describe mapping of histology and MRI based data of the common squirrel monkey and
construction of a viewing tool that enable online viewing of these datasets. The previously
descried atlas MRI is used for its deformation to provide accurate conformation to the MRI, thus
adding information at the histological level to the MRI volume. This paper presents the
mapping of single 2D image slice in block face as a proof of concept and this can be extended to
map the atlas space in 3D coordinate system as part of the future work and can be loaded to an
XNAT system for further use.
Keywords: primate neuroanatomy, atlas, magnetic resonance imaging, diffusion tensor imaging
1.INTRODUCTION
Atlases provide a central coordinate system in which to merge information from different imaging
modalities, across time within a single subject, between subjects, and among studies. Digital atlases
have come into common use from brain mapping with 3 D imaging techniques, e.g., magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI). Integration of histology images with typical multi modal MRI atlases
(e.g., for the squirrel monkey [1]) is greatly complicated by the fact that histological sections are, by
their nature, extraordinarily isotopic. Any out of plane rotation/resampling would result substantive
partial volume artifacts.
During the sectioning process, it is commonly possible to acquire photographic images of the block

I have dealt with many students in my lifetime. I have worked in schools over a decade in
different capacities, specifically as a teacher s assistant, special needs trainee substitute, counselor,
and counselor supervisor. Based on my experience, education, and training I have developed a
series of tools/interventions that have worked for me over the years. Of course, I would change
my interventions based on a student s individual need. For the purpose of this answer I will address
a student s disruptive behaviorby: remaining calm, responding with empathy and a positive attitude,
not reacting negatively or with behaviors that perpetuate disruptive behaviors, using praise and

I would want the conversation to reinforce that I did not take the outburst personally by utilizing I
statements to be clear about what I was thinking and what my plan is from this point on. I would
also let student know that I would involve their parent and that they should be present when I meet
with them to discuss our plan of action for the future. The depth of this conversation would really
depend on where the student is developmentally, i.e. special needs versus non special needs. After
meeting with the student I would set up a face to face meeting with their parent. The plan of action
for my consult with the parent is discussed in the next answer.

There are many ways to deal with student disruptions in the classroom. The abovementioned tools

fewer disputations in my classroom. I understand that students are all individuals and the
interventions I have discussed may not be relevant for everyone. Therefore, I am always open to

Marketing Planning Models
Assess the practical value of strategic marketing planning models to today s marketing managers.
The four P s are essential for any company wanting to implement the marketing concept,
unfortunately these tools only concern the operational side of an organisation (they identify the
wants and needs of a customer and then present them as a product). If a company wants to succeed
and survive in the future they must focus on marketing planning, this concept concentrates on
where the company currently is both internally and externally and the best way for long term
progression.
Its purpose has been described by McDonald,(1989) as to find a systematic way of identifying a

At this point the product starts to make some of the profit back, it becomes more established and
ales slowly rise over time as the target segment become more aware of what s on offer ( the mac

This leads onto the growth stage, profits rise considerably and the product becomes established,
the competition become aware and analyse the threat posed to them (the new Xbox).
Competitors will try to divert attention away which could effect the rate of the growth curve
(Brassington, F S Pettitt, 2007, p204). As a product reaches maturity (an example would be
coca cola) if a secure fan base has emerged the supplier must now look at keeping them interested.
If a product begins to date or tire a newer, more desirable one must be available. If this is not the

Ethos In Fast Food Nation
The modern fast food industry has undeniably transformed and helped define the American way of
life, but not all in positive ways. The industry capitalizes on the exploitation of workers,
consumers, and the environment, and Eric Schlosser s book Fast Food Nation addresses these very
issues of the fast food industry. Schlosser criticizes these fast foodcorporations, projecting his
argument to all consumers of fast food. Eric Schlosser s primary goal is to reveal the deplorable
business practices utilized by the fast food industry, and he uses the three appeals of ethos, pathos,
and logos all as tools to help persuade the reader and strengthen his argument. Schlosser uses
appeals to ethos in order to convince readers of his credibility and authenticity, cementing his
criticisms against the fast food industry as valid and deserving of attention. Throughout his

Music also plays a key role in reminding the audience that this movie took place in the past.
The sound used in this movie serves a large purpose. There are many scenes when Cassavetes
allows everything else to be silent and the object of focus to be the loudest in order for the
audience to truly concentrate on its meaning. Going back to the scene when Allie and Noah
dance in the street together, Cassavetes purposely makes them dance without actual music
initially and has Noah hum the tune he wishes to slow dance to, while all else is silent. The
reasoning for this is to further contribute towards Cassavetes attempts to get the audience to fall
in love with the two teenager s relationship. Dancing without music in the middle of the street
shows that the couple can have a great time with nothing else but their love and it also portrays
their free spirit and fun personalities. Another time when sound serves a specific purpose is
when Noah takes Allie to an abandoned house that he promises he will fix up when he gets older
so they can live together in it. A dusty piano in the corner intrigues Allie and she begins to play
one of her favorite slow tunes. All else is completely silent in the room as Cassavetes forces the
audience to focus on the tune she is playing, for it serves a purpose later on in the movie. When
the scenes switch back and forth between the story of Noah and Allie, and an old man narrating this
story to an old woman

The Automotive Sector in Italy
The Automotive Sector in Italy I.Introduction: Sector Analysis Part A: Out of all the countries I
have visited in my life, Italy is definitely my favorite. Italy is located in southern Europe
bordering countries such as France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. With a population of over
sixty million people, Italy has a capitalist market with high GDP per capita and a well developed
infrastructure. According to the International Monetary Fund, it is the eighth largest economy in
the entire world and third biggest in Europe. After analyzing the National Institute of Statistics
(ISTAT), the GDP of Italy expanded by 10% in the fourth quarter of last year. From 1960 2013,
the GDP growth rate averaged 63% per year. Their main industrial base is driven by producing
high quality consumer goods. The main sectors in Italy are tourism, iron and steel, machinery,
textiles, food processing, shoes, clothing (fashion), and one of the biggest being the auto sector.
Italy joined the European Union in 1952, and between then and now, their country has gone through
growth rates well above 4%. However, after 1992, Italy s expansion rates fell below the European
Union average. Ever since then, Italy s government has been trying to revive their economy by
increasing the amount of public spending. In result, the public debt and budget deficit have attained
unsustainable levels and the country has recently gone through a tough recession. Now in 2014,
Italy has actually returned to growth after

Over the last 30 years, videos games have become very desirable for people of all ages, genders,
and race. With the rapid growth of technology these games have become very life like and some
seem as if your actually there in person. The rapid growth has made the video industry into a multi
billon dollar industry and this has created much controversy among the people because the games
are becoming very realistic, but also more violent. Since the creation of violent video games there
have been constant disputes to whether these games will increase violence in the player.

Many acts of violent crimes have connected to young players and violent videos games. These
young players aren t supposed to be playing this game anyways. There is a reason these games are
labeled with the game rating. An 8 year old boy intentionally killed a 90 year old woman when he
shot her in the head inside a Louisiana mobile home after playing a violent video game, police said.
But the child won t be charged with a crime.
The boy fatally shot his elderly caregiver, Marie Smothers, after playing Grand Theft Auto IV a
video game critics often blame for promoting violence inside the mobile home at a Slaughter, La.,

I wonder why an 8 year kid is playing a game that has a label on it that clearly has a label print on to
the cover saying it is for people 18 years old and up. Here s a 8 year old boy who is barely capable
of thinking on his own and he s playing a game that he s 10 years to young to be playing. My
really question is how do you put that on the creators of the game? The game creators clearly put
an age restrictions on the game for a reason because the content is very influential for someone
who isn t 18 or older. People over 18 year old person are able to think for them selves as where an 8

Ideological Extremity And Qualification
Shown above are my results. Both qualification and ideological extremity help predict the
number of no votes a candidate receives. The correlation coefficient for qualification is 25.87823,
meaning that the more qualified a candidate is, the fewer no votes he or she receives. On the
other hand, the correlation coefficient for ideological extremity is +21.90444, meaning that that
more ideologically extreme a candidate is, the more no votes he or she receives. Both of these
correlations are statistically significant since the p values are 0.000 and 0.023 both less than 0.05.

What Are the Advantages Disadvantages of Working in...
A team is a group of individuals who work together to produce products or deliver services for
which they are mutually accountable.
(Cohen Mohrman, 1995)
Teamwork is used everyday, everywhere in business organisations. It is an important way of
bringing people together, developing stronger bonds between members and quickly tackling large
projects. There have been many theorists who have developed conflicting theories regarding the
pros and cons of working in teams, thus the ageing problem in hand is firstly being able to identify
these advantages and disadvantages, and secondly trying to find solutions to reducing or avoiding
these disadvantages. The ability to do this is of paramount importance for leaders everywhere ...

Allport argued that the key to resolving conflict was better interaction between members. The
foundation of this argument is that interaction consolidates a feeling of group identity resulting in
stronger bonds between group members and encourages friendships. In this way, if we examine
Allport s theory with reference to Guirdham s, we could see that team members might be less
likely to abuse group norms. However, one problem that could arise as a follow on from
encouraging team members to become friendly with one another is the idea of groupthink, which I
shall discuss shortly.
The second advantage I am going to discuss is that group members all motivate one another. In
order to provide evidence for this statement it is necessary to re examine one of the theories
mentioned earlier; Group norms (Guirdham, 1995). Guirdham suggests that every team member is
encouraged to adopt these four norms which encourages stronger bonds between the team
members and can convert simple group members into friends. This therefore leads to an
environment in which everybody gets along. However, it could be argued that there are two major
consequences and disadvantages that may arise through this type of approach. I already touched
upon the first one; somebody in the group may abuse the group norms and morale may be lowered.
The second is the idea of groupthink (Janis, 1972). Groupthink is the idea that in an environment
where people are too friendly, they do

What Is True Individual Freedom In The Story Of An Hour
True individual freedom cannot exist without independence, was a quote Franklin D. Roosevelt
once said. What is meant by this statement is you cannot have freedom without independence
and vice versa. It s like the peanut butter needed in a jelly sandwich. Mrs Mallard represents this
quote in the short story The Story of An Hour by Kate Chopin. One day, Mrs. Mallard, the
protagonist received the news that her husband had died in a railroad accident. Once she had
heard this, she went to her room and started to sob. She was sad that her husband died, yet she
often had not loved him. But then, she realized that she can be free and independent since her

came to her consensus that there are positive things that are coming from this. In the story, Mrs.

Mallard is now feeling like waves of freedom have washed over her, instead of gloomy ones. She
realized that she is now not held back by anyone, as she was seemingly restricted by her husband
to do things she had always dreamed of doing, by herself. Her body and soul are free, looking

freedom. She is looking forward to free and independent spring and summer days in the future. She
also makes a quick prayer that life might be long because she now wants to experience fun days
with her two new traits. Mrs. Mallard wants her freedom and independence to be the longest it

The Case Of Riley Mahan Essay
Riley Mahan was reportedly born on 1/26/1997 in Ventura, California to the intact union of
Kevin and Kathleen Mahan. Mr. Mahan, the elder, worked as the director of theatre lighting at
the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C. before his death in January 2016. The defendant
s mother, Mrs. Mahan, also worked in the theatre business as a stage manager for several years.
The defendant is the oldest of two sons born to the Mahans. His brother, Bryce, is 14 years old
and has been identified on the autism spectrum according to Mrs. Mahan. His parents have been
divorced for several years. The defendant reportedly lived in California until he was two years old
before relocating to the Northern Virginia area. In March 2015, their family home was destroyed
by a fire. Although no one was physically hurt in the fire, as no one was home at the time, Mrs.
Mahan believes the trauma from losing the home and the death of his father contributed to her son s
mental healthsymptoms. She described periods of the defendant displaying appropriate, calm
behavior that could vacillate in mood and behavior quickly without a known trigger. She described
her son as kind, smart, and helpful, but admitted that he has met some traumatic disappointments in
the last couple of years.
Mr. Mahan graduated from Woodson High School after first attending Robinson Secondary School

Grafting of the Bone
Bone grafting is performed to restore bone that has been lost due to injury, trauma, or disease.
Injury may cause haematoma and bleeding from adjacent structures to occur. Haematoma is
clotting of blood that occur in any specific region such as around the broken bone ends. This event
is localized. Two ends involved are proximal and distal boneend which is the medium for osteonal
healing (ossification) to occur.
Ossification is the process of bone formation that is usually beginning at particular centers in each
prospective bone and involving the activities of species osteoblasts that segregate and deposit
inorganic bone substance about themselves (Webster, 2013). To form fracture callus, hyaline
cartilage and woven bone has to be formed first. In order this to happen, chondroblasts and
osteoblasts will arise from periosteum of each ends respectively.
After that, fracture callus will undergo the process of bone subtitution, followed with
endochondral ossification, resulting in production of lamellar bone. Final remodelling of the bone
is completed by deposition of compact bone by osteoblasts in resorption pits prepared by the
osteoclasts (Gaston and Simpson, 2007). This natural osteonal healing would be done well if and
only if these four prerequisites are active.
Firstly, cells with active osteogenic potential. Secondly, medium which has active osteoconductive
matrix. Thirdly, medium with an active osteoconductive stimulus. Lastly, a mechanically active and

Analysis Of I Hear America Singing, By Walt Whitman
Walt Whitman is viewed as the father of free verse, in spite of the fact that he didn t concoct it.
Free verse is verse without normal examples of rhyme, beat or meter. Note: free verse has
musicality and meter. The example, nonetheless, is unpredictable. Beat is regularly made using
other lovely gadgets, including redundancy, similar sounding word usage, and other sound gadgets.
The type of Whitman s verse coordinates the substance. Whitman praises the flexibility of the
individual and a festival of opportunity delighted in the United States. Since the demeanor toward
singular freedom in America was a break from European standpoint, he felt his own unique verse
expected to part from European literature too.
Whitman expounded on normal individuals, which isn t, by and large, a break from European
literature. The British Romantics praised the person, for instance, and they too wrote in a style
which was a break from conventional structures also.
Whitman commended the body and felt that the body was a door to the spirit, like in the poem I
hear America Singing . In the rhyme sequence Whitman esteemed himself above rigors of rhyme
and meter since Whitman utilized free verses uninhibitedly. In any case, his verse is not the verses
controlled tightly in order to maintain the rhyming sequence. The melody is a posting of manual
laborers, their work substance and chiming in the way. In the synecdoche we see all the I Hear

Starbucks s Marketing Strategy For Starbucks
This particular case starts off by telling the background of Starbucks as it is today. 30 years ago,
Starbucks was a single store in Seattle s Pike Place Market selling premium roasted coffee. They
decided to change their traditional customer experience in the 1980s. When the company s
director of marketing, Howard Schultz, came back from Italy, he felt enchanted with the coffee
house experience of Italy. Mr. Schultz wanted to duplicate this experience in his own coffee
stores. The new strategy consisted of selling their already proven products in a tastefully designed
coffee house setting. With this strategy, Starbucks became one of the best known brands in the
country in a decade. There stores became places for relaxation, reading the newspaper, holding
business meetings, or even browsing the web. Nevertheless, Starbucks wanted to expand their
market. Their first target market was Japan. The company established a joint venture with a local
retailer, Sazaby Inc. This joint venture was divided in half between the two companies. In order to
replicate the experience without losing their competitive advantage, the Starbucks format was then
licensed to the venture. To ensure that the Starbucks experience in Japan was duplicated properly,
Starbucks actually transferred some of their employees to their Japanese operations. Many critics
did not feel that Starbucks was capable of duplicating their experience into foreign countries.
However, by the end of 2009, Starbucks had

Cosmopolitanism Essay
The ideal society for many of us is a place in which mutual respect exists for all. A place where
despite our different perspective and beliefs we can come together and coexist in peace. This
ideology is called cosmopolitanism. The idea of a cosmopolitan society has been around for
thousands of years, it has created controversial arguments on whether its principles could benefit
our community by helping us achieve a deeper level of understanding towards one another.
Throughout the world, there are disputes because of our different perspectives and values. What if
we could mitigate conflicts by integrating cosmopolitanisminto our daily lives? In Appiah s text,
Making Conversation, he contributes fundamental ideas that could help society achieve and

cases, these practices can be taboo to us but acceptable to others. Cosmopolitanism is the solution
to our conflicts that stem from a disparate set of views of how things should occur. Applying the
notion of cosmopolitanism can aid us in our quest to understand and respect others, take into
account our differences, and remain open minded to the diverse ways of living life.

what it is today. The immense strain on methods of communication hindered our ability to further

The first of these three, fixed rate mortgages, are arguably the simplest and easiest to understand.
The idea of the fixed rate mortgage is simple, you are given a set interest rate for a set amount of
time. The mortgage payment for a fixed rate mortgage is calculated at the time of mortgage
origination and stays that rate for the life of the mortgage (minus tax and insurance fluctuations
if included in the mortgage payment). The length of a fixed rate mortgage (as well as other
mortgages) can vary widely, from 10 years all the way up to 40. According to the book Mortgage
Confidential , a typical spread between a 30 year and a 15 year fixed rate is normally about ВЅ
percent , meaning if you can find a 30 year rate at 7.00 percent, then a similarly priced 15 year
mortgage at most places will be in the 6.50 percent range. (Reed, 2011, p.157). Adjustable rate
mortgages, like fixed rate mortgages, have a set length, but do not have a fixed interest rate.
Adjustable rate mortgages can be based on a variety of indexes and are set using an index and a
margin. (Reed, 2011, p.149). Simply stated, the interest rate of adjustable rate mortgages fluctuates
with the financial market. The interest rate of an adjustable rate mortgage will change depending
on the type of mortgage. A one year adjustable will typically adjust once per year, a six month
ARM will adjust every six months, and monthly ARMs will

A Humorous Wedding
That thick envelope just arrived in the mail. You ve been invited to a wedding.
Now what?
You re probably very happy to have received an invitation to a wedding. But what does it all
mean? And what if you aren t so happy? Here s some pointers.
If you really don t want to attend the wedding: don t go. If you aren t that close to the bride and
groom and don t really care to be there, it s perhaps better you don t attend. It may be that you
have been included on the guest list at the insistence of a parent who, for example, feels a
professional obligation to invite you. If it isn t that important a relationship to you, why not free up
your spot for another guest?
If you do not plan to attend the wedding, notify the couple as soon as possible. There is probably a
response card included in the invitation. Follow the instruction to indicate that you will not be
attending, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just be sure to be polite about it ( I hope my need for wheelchair access will not create a problem
at the ceremony or reception locations. ). It is not appropriate to make dietary request unless they
are solicited. If you get to the reception and they are serving something you can t eat, just don t eat
it. If you have food allergies or religious dietary restrictions, try to eat something before hand, just
in case.
Being a good guest isn t really very hard. Just remember your manners. If, heaven forbid, you
never learned any, just remember that a couple s wedding is first and foremost their day, and a
special day for their families. They want you to have a good time, but the event is not about
indulging you, so put the couple s happiness ahead of your own. The couple and their families have
honored you by inviting you to the wedding: return the favor by following simple rules of courtesy

The Importance Of Concealed Weapons In Education
Lastly, concealed weapons should not be allowed on campus as they would distract from a
positive learning experience. College classrooms must be a place where faculty and students feel
safe to express their opinions. While, the introduction of handguns could inhibit dialog among
students by creating an atmosphere of fear of retaliation from someone that disagrees with a fellow
student s opinion. Teachers may feel trepidation or hesitant to criticize a difficult student s work for
fear of the possibility the student could be carrying a concealed weapon. In order to, promote a
positive educationstudents must feel comfortable in their environment to flourish. This would be
diminished if college classrooms were filled with armed students. Furthermore,

Argumentative Essay On Wicca
To understand the great right, you first have to understand that Wicca is a fertility religion. The
founder of Wicca Gerald Gardner explains Wicca as a very ancient ritualistic religion based on
survival. This rite is more closely based on the ritual of Beltane. During the Beltane rites the high
priest or priestess will enact the fertility rite by inserting the athame (which represents the horned
god) into the chalice (which represents the mother goddess). This is a form of sympathetic magick
where we enact a bigger picture with our own ritual tools. Before i did the research i honestly
thought the great rite had Something to do with sex. While it does indeed have to do with sex its
much more about fertility. I now know that the great rite has everything to do with praying to the
gods through ritual. Praying for fertility to the earth, animals and plants. Author Vivianne Crowley
says in Wicca: The Old Religion in the New Age, The outer rite involves a linking of the male
and the female; the sacred marriage is outwardly a marriage of two people, but inwardly it is a
marriage of the two within one person. The Great Rite is more than just a sexual union; it is the
enactment of the creation of the universe itself in the Wiccan tradition. In modern Wicca, many
practioners can and will use sex in ritual but this is more often than not used in personal practice.
When a man and woman are both practices of the faith and perform rituals together this is an
acceptable way to end the

The National Pedagogy And Transformation Of Leisure Concept
2.4.1.The National Pedagogy and Transformation of Leisure Concept It was against this
circumstance, every level of governments prioritised economy development as their first agenda.
While facing with material civilization and spiritual civilization, a dilemma how to balance these
two civilization was front the reformer, Compared with Maoist resentment towards leisure, which
was treated as the bourgeoisie idleness impeded for the development of socialism society and then
had been cursed, while, the perception towards leisure is transforming. Initially, Deng and his
followers place conservative perception towards leisure. Since, in the early reform era, without
proper guidance, ordinary individuals plunged into the irrational leisure or negative idleness, and
that negative idleness may impede the development economy. While similar thing also happened in
the early 20th century West Europe and the America, pastimes or idleness for example computer
games, drinking to pop music of wasting time. As a counter mechanism, Max Weber recalled the
Capitalist s Protestant work ethic, which advocates hard working to create wealth because the the
end is near and argues to be leisure is sinful . In this logic, the CPC proposed a discourse of
civilised (wenming), healthy (jiankang) and educational (you jiaoyu yiyi) leisure ethic. It

Quantum Mechanics Essay
Quantum Mechanics
Quantum Mechanics is the science of subatomic particles and their behavior patterns that are
observed in nature. As the foundation of scientific knowledge approached the start of the
twentieth century, problems began to arise over the fact that classic physical ideas were not
capable of explaining the observed behavior of subatomic particles. In 1913, the Danish physicist
Neils Bohr, proposed a successful quantum model of the atom that began the process of a more
defined understanding of its subatomic particles. It was accepted in the early part of the twentieth
century that light traveled as both waves and particles. The reason light appears to act as a wave
and particle is because we are noticing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This observance is what Werner Heisenberg refereed to as the principle of uncertainty, which
commonly became known as Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle. We have the illusion that position
and momentum can co exist in large objects whose inherent action is huge compared to subatomic
particles. Heisenberg realized that the uncertainty relations had profound implications. Heisenberg
set himself to the task of finding the new quantum mechanics to explain what his theories
observed. He relied on what can be observed, namely the light emitted and absorbed by the atoms.
By July 1925, Heisenberg wrote his answer in a paper. The basic idea of Heisenberg s paper was to
get rid of the orbits in atoms and to arrive at new mechanical equations. Heisenberg s approached
focused mainly on the particle nature of electrons. The mathematics Heisenberg used were tables
commonly used for multiplication of arrays of numbers mathematical objects known as matrices.
Using the mathematics of matrices, scientists had at last a new mechanics for calculating the
quantum behavior of particles. Heisenberg, and others showed that the new quantum mechanics
could account for many of the properties of atoms and atomic events.
Most physicists were slow to accept matrix mechanics because of its abstract nature. Erwin
Schrodinger came up with a mathematical equation which nicely described the wave nature of
electrons. Scientists gladly

The Development Of The Fisheries And Tourism On The...
The development of the fisheries and the tourist trade, writes Connie Chiang in Shaping the
Shoreline: Fisheries and Tourism on the Monterey Coast, illuminates the deeply entangled social
and environmental histories that together transformed Monterey through time. Thus the central
contribution of Chiang s book is illuminating the intersection of social and environmental history
from the perspective of an environmental history. The environmental story deals with the fisheries,
canneries, and eventual aquarium celebrating the environment and Monterey s past. Central to the
social story are the conflicts and interactions between people of different gender, class, race, and
ethnicity. While Chiang beautifully intersects the two historical subfields, attention to the
intersection of social categories was lacking. Throughout the book, there were brief moments of
intersectional analysis that greatly contributed to the text. However, these were few and far
between. I demonstrate that had Chiang used the rich intersectional understanding of society on the
Monterey more often, the book would have been greatly strengthened. Moments where Chiang does
acknowledge the intersecting identities of Monterey inhabitants and visitors help to strengthen her
book. The moment where this first appears is in her discussion of Chinese immigrants to Monterey.
Working class women of color experienced a combination of racism and misogyny unique to their
social position. A travel writer named M.

Risk Management Within The Homeland Security Enterprise
Risk Management within the Homeland Security Enterprise Risk has been defined as the
likelihood of a specific outcome and the results or consequences of that specific outcome
(Masse, O Neil, Rollins, 2007). Risk is inherent to every facet of life. There are risks involved in
the mundane of driving down the road or walking on a sidewalk. Certain factors are added which
increases the risk of conducting these mundane tasks. For example, driving at a high rate of
speed during a rain storm exponentially increases the risk that one will lose control of the
vehicle and probably wreck. Assessing and managing risk is also a part of everyday life though
most people do not realize that they are actually using these tools to mitigate risks. In the previous
example, one would assess the risks of travelling at a high rate of speed during a rainstorm and
manage that risk by slowing down to a rate of speed that is commensorate with effects of the
rainstorm in order to avoid hydroplaning. Thus, the risks have been mitigated and the probability of
losing control of the vehicle is significantly decreased or eliminated. The principals of identifying
risks, assessing risks, and managing risks are used throughout the homeland security enterprise to
mitigate risks posed to the public, critical infrastructure, and ultimately national security. According
to the Department of Homeland Security s (DHS) (2010) Quadreannial Homeland Security Review
Report, homeland security is about

Functionalist Perspective On Divorce
Divorce is such a personal and common thing in America. There are so many couples who go
through the act of divorce every day. According to Kanewicher and Harris (2014), forty to fifty
percent of couples will end in divorce within the first few years of marriage. Divorce is the legal
dissolution of a marriageby a court or other competent body. There are many factors that may lead
couples into divorce. Some of those factors are, marrying too young, low education levels and
overall just lack of preparation (Kanewischer, 2015). Although divorce is common now, it was not
like this back in the late 1900 s. Divorce was not allowed and most of the time people did not want
to get divorce because of all the time and effort they put into their marriage.... Show more content

In general, children from divorced families did have more behavioral problems than children from
non divorced families. They continue to struggle with the behaviors well into their adolescence
stage and into their adult stage (Weaver, 2015). It makes maintaining relationships and trusting
others difficult. There are three different theoretical perspectives. Functionalist perspective, which
emphasizes the way in which the parts of a society are structured to maintain its stability.
Functionalists see the contribution that it makes to society. The conflict perspective, assumes that
social behavior is best understood in terms of tension between groups over power or the
allocation of resources, and political representation. The interactionalist perspective, which
generalize about everyday forms of social interaction in order to explain society as a whole
(Schaefer). In the topic of divorce, it seems as if the functionalist perspective explains it well. Most
of the people get a divorce because they are unhappy within the marriage. If the couple continued to
be married it could cause more problems such as affairs, theft, depression, etc., therefore ruining the
society s stability. Both individuals would be happier and there would be fewer dysfunctional
families. Through the functionalist perspective, the idea of divorce is

  • 2. Teleological Arguments Essay The argument from design or the teleological argument points to the existence of order and direction in nature to a kind of purpose. The argument essentially proves the existence of God. A designer must exist because the universe and living things exhibit marks of design in their complexity. Design type arguments are unproblematic when based upon things nature plainly could not or would not produce, like human artifacts. If designs entail a designer, and the universe shows marks of design, then the universe was created. An intelligent designer is an entity that the intelligent designmovement argues had some role in the development of life. Essentially, the claim being made is that certain aspects of the universe are too perfectly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, if one stumbled across a stone it would be difficult for one to explain how it got there. Secondly, just as the complexity of a watch imply intelligent design, Paley suggested that the universe too implies intelligent design. The eye is usually used as an example of design. I know no better method of introducing so large a subject, than that of comparing a single thing with a single thing; an eye, for example, with a telescope (Klemke 32). Paley stated that both of these are instruments and bear resemblance to one another. In order for the eye or telescope to work, there must be many dissimilar convergent parts that individually have no role but have value only in a designed whole. Therefore, it is only in the joined unity that they exhibit their total function. David Hume counter argued against the argument from design. He noted that although we know that man made structures are designed because we have seen them being built, the analogy does not hold for non man made structures. A theist must be able to show that natural objects in the universe were manufactured in some way. For example, trees, humans and rocks. The analogy then requires the existence of an intelligent designer. Hume criticizes the claim that artifacts and the universe are similar in the right ways because we have only had experience with just one universe. He rejects the analogy between the material universe and a human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Lab 11 LAB 11: Performing a Web Site and Database Attack by Exploiting Identified Vulnerabilities 1.Why is it critical to perform a penetration test on a Web application and a Web server prior to production implementation? Essentially, performing a penetration test on a web application or web server, prior to implementation, is critical to exposing and/or correcting any existing security flaws. In fact, such penetration testing is critical to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of a given web application or service. Also, penetration testing should be performed on a regular basis, or whenever a given web application or service is modified, in order to detect any possible security vulnerabilities and/or flaws. 2.What is a cross site scripting attack? Explain in your own words. Simply put, cross site scripting refers to the malicious injection of scripting code, into a given web server or application, in order to exploit or extract information and/or data, or even modify the contents of the targeted web server or application. Regarding cross site scripting, cross site scripting attacks utilize the process of cross site scripting, and may be classified into two categories: persistent, or stored, and non persistent, or reflective. 3.What is a reflective cross site scripting attack? The states had more power than the federal government. State governments had the power to tax but the federal government did not (Janda 62). This caused congress to have to beg for money from the states in order to pay for the cost of the Revolutionary War and the cost of starting a new nation. Another issue under the Articles of Confederationwas the lack of economic control the federal government had on the states (63). The national government attempted to restrict foreign imports but the states did not listen and continued making deals with foreign countries. • 6. Analysis Of The Poem Upon The Burning Of Our House Since its early days, America has had strong core values based in Christian theology, European traditions, and Western ideals and morals. The Christian religion (and its many varying tendrils) has helped unify our nation for centuries. The founders of what is today the United States of America came over to this continent avoiding persecution for their religion from European powers. While there have been plethora wars and struggles across Europe over religion, thankfully they have never showed their face in America, although it is most certainly a part of our heritage. However, it can not be said that Christianity is the only influence that has been exerted on the American culture. Pagan and secular traditions and superstitions have been passed from ancient Greece to ancient Rome, then from the wreckage of those empires in Europe, and carried on all the way through the Dark Ages to 1600 s pilgrims who carried their culture to a new continent: North America. A remarkably early American poet was Anne Bradstreet, who wrote the poem Upon the Burning of Our House, which is a tribute to God. The most important and obvious value that Bradstreet emphasizes in her poem is her devotion to God. Throughout this poem she mentions him seven times as being her support and lord. In the second stanza she prays that god will strengthen me in my distress. This demonstrates to us that she trusts God to take care of her, despite the extreme traumatic experience she just endured. • 7. Organizational Structure and Culture Organizational Structure and Culture Introduction In this week s assignment we will be looking at organizational structure and organizational culture. We will first look at how organizational culture impacts organizational structure and vice versa. Then look at how organizational structure interacts and impacts the organization s decision process. Organizational Cultures Impact on Organizational Structure The first part of this week s assignment was to look at how organizational structure impacts organizational culture and vice versa. But before we look at that let us review what organizational structure and culture are. Organizational culture as defined from the text is the shared values, principles, traditions, and ways of doing things that influence the way organizational members set (Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2013). Also an organization s culture usually reflects the vision or mission of the organization s founders (Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2013). Organizational structure is a hierarchical arrangement of lines of authority, communication, rights and duties of an organization (BusinessDictionary.com, 2013). Organizational structure determines how the roles, power and responsibilities are assigned, controlled, and coordinated, and how information flows between different levels of management (BusinessDictionary.com, 2013). Now with a review of what organizational structure and culture are let us look how they impact each other. There are many examples of structure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Adaptive Immune System The immune system is split into two groups, innate and adaptive. Innate immunity refers to nonspecific defense mechanisms that, during exposure of an antigen, act at once or within a few hours . Physical barriers like skin, chemicals in the blood, and cells in the immune system that attack foreign cells are examples of defense mechanisms. An antigen s chemical make up is what triggers the innate immune to respond. Adaptive immunity however, is antigen specific, has immunologic memory and consists of responses of both T and B cells. It is more complex than the innate immunity, as processing and recognizing the antigen must first be done before immune cells can be created by the adaptive immune system to attack it. • 14. Analysis Of The Poem Ode Of A Nightingale By John Keats Alaysia Murphy ENG 134 04 Prof. Palmioli 11/3/15 Explication for Ode to a Nightingale Literature often reflects real life. The world of imagination is a euphoric release from the world of actuality but paradoxically this world of imagination makes the world of actuality even more painful than what it is. Human life is often full of conflicts for example, the interconnection or mixture of pain/joy, intensity of feeling/numbness or lack of feeling, life/death, the actual/the ideal, and separation/connection. In the poem Ode to a Nightingale written by John Keats, the poet seems to be praising the nightingale for its melodious tune but upon further investigation it is revealed that he is actually using the nightingale and its song as a means of escaping the realities of human life. This poem is about the intense feelings the poet has about the transience about the nature of reality. Keats discovers the creativity of human life and the morality throughout the poem. The poet is in search of the pure joy and ecstasy sung in the nightingale s song which is completely unaware of the anguish and suffering of reality. The poet believes that if he lives a life similar to that of the nightingale that he will be removed from all pain and anguish. As the poem progresses the poet ponders different ways of joining the nightingale and what he considers paradise. He comes to the conclusion that he cannot escape the realities of the human world. (p.93) This vague image is later concretized in the form of Bilasia, the Bhil woman whom he finds an ideal combination of Otherness and the Self. Bilasia s exotic Otherness is clearly seen in her untamed beauty , her promiscuity and her obvious difference from the respectable wife, Meena. Yet, how is Bilasia an ideal other for Billy Biswas, the upper class Hindu? Perhaps this may be explained by the way tribals have generally been viewed as peripheral communities within the dominant Hindu fold. So while recognizing the tribal Otherness, the Hindu view also makes them accessible. Moreover, Bilasia has beauty albeit an untamed one and she belongs to the Bhil community, which has traditionally been seen as possessing many Rajput qualities, like valour, nobility etc. Incidentally, one may compare the account of Billy s life with that of Verrier Elwin, an Englishman who came to India as a Christian missionary in 1927. A few years later, varrier Elwin voluntarily gave up his ministry and decided to devote himself to the tribal people of India. He started living in the Chhattisgarh area, along with Shamrao Hivale. • 17. Education Is The Implementation Of A Standard Curriculum Introduction One of the most significant and prevalent changes seen in education is the implementation of a standard curriculum. Prior to this effort there were many ineffective practices that occurred within the nation s schools. According to Girod, G.R., Girod, M (n.d.), there was a time that students were measured on such things as a spelling test. If you spelled a certain number of words correctly you were considered a good speller, but did that mean you actually understood the context of the word or was it just memorization? Although there is much debate as to whether or not standard curriculum is fair to all students given different learning styles and aptitudes, in this paper I will go over the some of the important factors and benefits in implementing a standard curriculum. I will also go over how one district in Tempe does exactly this. The Importance of Curriculum at the District Level District frameworks are those that are developed at a local or regional district level. If possible a curriculum committee will be established at the local level to help address the issues coming from a higher level, according to Berkas, N., Pattison, C. (2000). The benefit of such district level leadership is that it coordinates and aligns the curriculum and assessment to ensure alignment with the state and district standards. This paper presents the mapping of single 2D image slice in block face as a proof of concept and this can be extended to map the atlas space in 3D coordinate system as part of the future work and can be loaded to an XNAT system for further use. The four P s are essential for any company wanting to implement the marketing concept, unfortunately these tools only concern the operational side of an organisation (they identify the wants and needs of a customer and then present them as a product). If a company wants to succeed and survive in the future they must focus on marketing planning, this concept concentrates on where the company currently is both internally and externally and the best way for long term progression. Through filmatic elements such as Cassavetes choices of cinematography, editing, narrative, mise en scene, sound and music, he creates an extremely believable story of two teenagers in the 1940 s who fell in love over the time span of one summer. In order to create a 1940 s vibe, Cassavetes wisely uses a specific choice of costumes, makeup and scenery to portray exactly the time period he wanted to. The main character Allie, played by Rachel McAdams, is a free spirited 17 year old who in the beginning of the movie is seen wearing a variety of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Music also plays a key role in reminding the audience that this movie took place in the past. The sound used in this movie serves a large purpose. There are many scenes when Cassavetes allows everything else to be silent and the object of focus to be the loudest in order for the audience to truly concentrate on its meaning. Going back to the scene when Allie and Noah dance in the street together, Cassavetes purposely makes them dance without actual music initially and has Noah hum the tune he wishes to slow dance to, while all else is silent. The reasoning for this is to further contribute towards Cassavetes attempts to get the audience to fall in love with the two teenager s relationship. Dancing without music in the middle of the street shows that the couple can have a great time with nothing else but their love and it also portrays their free spirit and fun personalities. Another time when sound serves a specific purpose is when Noah takes Allie to an abandoned house that he promises he will fix up when he gets older so they can live together in it. A dusty piano in the corner intrigues Allie and she begins to play one of her favorite slow tunes. All else is completely silent in the room as Cassavetes forces the audience to focus on the tune she is playing, for it serves a purpose later on in the movie. When the scenes switch back and forth between the story of Noah and Allie, and an old man narrating this story to an old woman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Italy is located in southern Europe bordering countries such as France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. With a population of over sixty million people, Italy has a capitalist market with high GDP per capita and a well developed infrastructure. According to the International Monetary Fund, it is the eighth largest economy in the entire world and third biggest in Europe. After analyzing the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), the GDP of Italy expanded by 10% in the fourth quarter of last year. From 1960 2013, the GDP growth rate averaged 63% per year. Their main industrial base is driven by producing high quality consumer goods. The main sectors in Italy are tourism, iron and steel, machinery, textiles, food processing, shoes, clothing (fashion), and one of the biggest being the auto sector. Italy joined the European Union in 1952, and between then and now, their country has gone through growth rates well above 4%. However, after 1992, Italy s expansion rates fell below the European Union average. Ever since then, Italy s government has been trying to revive their economy by increasing the amount of public spending. In result, the public debt and budget deficit have attained unsustainable levels and the country has recently gone through a tough recession. (Cohen Mohrman, 1995) Teamwork is used everyday, everywhere in business organisations. It is an important way of bringing people together, developing stronger bonds between members and quickly tackling large projects. There have been many theorists who have developed conflicting theories regarding the pros and cons of working in teams, thus the ageing problem in hand is firstly being able to identify these advantages and disadvantages, and secondly trying to find solutions to reducing or avoiding these disadvantages. Allport argued that the key to resolving conflict was better interaction between members. The foundation of this argument is that interaction consolidates a feeling of group identity resulting in stronger bonds between group members and encourages friendships. In this way, if we examine Allport s theory with reference to Guirdham s, we could see that team members might be less likely to abuse group norms. However, one problem that could arise as a follow on from encouraging team members to become friendly with one another is the idea of groupthink, which I shall discuss shortly. The second advantage I am going to discuss is that group members all motivate one another. In order to provide evidence for this statement it is necessary to re examine one of the theories mentioned earlier; Group norms (Guirdham, 1995). Guirdham suggests that every team member is encouraged to adopt these four norms which encourages stronger bonds between the team members and can convert simple group members into friends. This therefore leads to an environment in which everybody gets along. However, it could be argued that there are two major consequences and disadvantages that may arise through this type of approach. I already touched upon the first one; somebody in the group may abuse the group norms and morale may be lowered. The second is the idea of groupthink (Janis, 1972). This event is localized. Two ends involved are proximal and distal boneend which is the medium for osteonal healing (ossification) to occur. Ossification is the process of bone formation that is usually beginning at particular centers in each prospective bone and involving the activities of species osteoblasts that segregate and deposit inorganic bone substance about themselves (Webster, 2013). To form fracture callus, hyaline cartilage and woven bone has to be formed first. In order this to happen, chondroblasts and osteoblasts will arise from periosteum of each ends respectively. After that, fracture callus will undergo the process of bone subtitution, followed with endochondral ossification, resulting in production of lamellar bone. Final remodelling of the bone is completed by deposition of compact bone by osteoblasts in resorption pits prepared by the osteoclasts (Gaston and Simpson, 2007). The mortgage payment for a fixed rate mortgage is calculated at the time of mortgage origination and stays that rate for the life of the mortgage (minus tax and insurance fluctuations if included in the mortgage payment). The length of a fixed rate mortgage (as well as other mortgages) can vary widely, from 10 years all the way up to 40. According to the book Mortgage Confidential , a typical spread between a 30 year and a 15 year fixed rate is normally about ВЅ percent , meaning if you can find a 30 year rate at 7.00 percent, then a similarly priced 15 year mortgage at most places will be in the 6.50 percent range. It may be that you have been included on the guest list at the insistence of a parent who, for example, feels a professional obligation to invite you. If it isn t that important a relationship to you, why not free up your spot for another guest? If you do not plan to attend the wedding, notify the couple as soon as possible. College classrooms must be a place where faculty and students feel safe to express their opinions. While, the introduction of handguns could inhibit dialog among students by creating an atmosphere of fear of retaliation from someone that disagrees with a fellow student s opinion. Teachers may feel trepidation or hesitant to criticize a difficult student s work for fear of the possibility the student could be carrying a concealed weapon. • 45. Argumentative Essay On Wicca To understand the great right, you first have to understand that Wicca is a fertility religion. The founder of Wicca Gerald Gardner explains Wicca as a very ancient ritualistic religion based on survival. This rite is more closely based on the ritual of Beltane. During the Beltane rites the high priest or priestess will enact the fertility rite by inserting the athame (which represents the horned god) into the chalice (which represents the mother goddess). This is a form of sympathetic magick where we enact a bigger picture with our own ritual tools. Before i did the research i honestly thought the great rite had Something to do with sex. While it does indeed have to do with sex its much more about fertility. I now know that the great rite has everything to do with praying to the gods through ritual. Praying for fertility to the earth, animals and plants. Author Vivianne Crowley says in Wicca: The Old Religion in the New Age, The outer rite involves a linking of the male and the female; the sacred marriage is outwardly a marriage of two people, but inwardly it is a marriage of the two within one person. The Great Rite is more than just a sexual union; it is the enactment of the creation of the universe itself in the Wiccan tradition. In modern Wicca, many practioners can and will use sex in ritual but this is more often than not used in personal practice. When a man and woman are both practices of the faith and perform rituals together this is an acceptable way to end the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The National Pedagogy And Transformation Of Leisure Concept 2.4.1.The National Pedagogy and Transformation of Leisure Concept It was against this circumstance, every level of governments prioritised economy development as their first agenda. While facing with material civilization and spiritual civilization, a dilemma how to balance these two civilization was front the reformer, Compared with Maoist resentment towards leisure, which was treated as the bourgeoisie idleness impeded for the development of socialism society and then had been cursed, while, the perception towards leisure is transforming. Initially, Deng and his followers place conservative perception towards leisure. Since, in the early reform era, without proper guidance, ordinary individuals plunged into the irrational leisure or negative idleness, and that negative idleness may impede the development economy. While similar thing also happened in the early 20th century West Europe and the America, pastimes or idleness for example computer games, drinking to pop music of wasting time. As a counter mechanism, Max Weber recalled the Capitalist s Protestant work ethic, which advocates hard working to create wealth because the the end is near and argues to be leisure is sinful . In this logic, the CPC proposed a discourse of civilised (wenming), healthy (jiankang) and educational (you jiaoyu yiyi) leisure ethic. • 48. Quantum Mechanics Essay Quantum Mechanics Quantum Mechanics is the science of subatomic particles and their behavior patterns that are observed in nature. As the foundation of scientific knowledge approached the start of the twentieth century, problems began to arise over the fact that classic physical ideas were not capable of explaining the observed behavior of subatomic particles. In 1913, the Danish physicist Neils Bohr, proposed a successful quantum model of the atom that began the process of a more defined understanding of its subatomic particles. It was accepted in the early part of the twentieth century that light traveled as both waves and particles. The reason light appears to act as a wave and particle is because we are noticing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This observance is what Werner Heisenberg refereed to as the principle of uncertainty, which commonly became known as Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle. We have the illusion that position and momentum can co exist in large objects whose inherent action is huge compared to subatomic particles. Heisenberg realized that the uncertainty relations had profound implications. Heisenberg set himself to the task of finding the new quantum mechanics to explain what his theories observed. He relied on what can be observed, namely the light emitted and absorbed by the atoms. By July 1925, Heisenberg wrote his answer in a paper. The basic idea of Heisenberg s paper was to get rid of the orbits in atoms and to arrive at new mechanical equations. Heisenberg s approached focused mainly on the particle nature of electrons. The mathematics Heisenberg used were tables commonly used for multiplication of arrays of numbers mathematical objects known as matrices. Using the mathematics of matrices, scientists had at last a new mechanics for calculating the quantum behavior of particles. Heisenberg, and others showed that the new quantum mechanics could account for many of the properties of atoms and atomic events. Most physicists were slow to accept matrix mechanics because of its abstract nature. Erwin Schrodinger came up with a mathematical equation which nicely described the wave nature of electrons. • 49. The Development Of The Fisheries And Tourism On The... The development of the fisheries and the tourist trade, writes Connie Chiang in Shaping the Shoreline: Fisheries and Tourism on the Monterey Coast, illuminates the deeply entangled social and environmental histories that together transformed Monterey through time. Thus the central contribution of Chiang s book is illuminating the intersection of social and environmental history from the perspective of an environmental history. The environmental story deals with the fisheries, canneries, and eventual aquarium celebrating the environment and Monterey s past. Central to the social story are the conflicts and interactions between people of different gender, class, race, and ethnicity. While Chiang beautifully intersects the two historical subfields, attention to the intersection of social categories was lacking. Throughout the book, there were brief moments of intersectional analysis that greatly contributed to the text. However, these were few and far between. I demonstrate that had Chiang used the rich intersectional understanding of society on the Monterey more often, the book would have been greatly strengthened. Moments where Chiang does acknowledge the intersecting identities of Monterey inhabitants and visitors help to strengthen her book. The moment where this first appears is in her discussion of Chinese immigrants to Monterey. Working class women of color experienced a combination of racism and misogyny unique to their social position. A travel writer named M. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Risk Management Within The Homeland Security Enterprise Risk Management within the Homeland Security Enterprise Risk has been defined as the likelihood of a specific outcome and the results or consequences of that specific outcome (Masse, O Neil, Rollins, 2007). Risk is inherent to every facet of life. There are risks involved in the mundane of driving down the road or walking on a sidewalk. Certain factors are added which increases the risk of conducting these mundane tasks. For example, driving at a high rate of speed during a rain storm exponentially increases the risk that one will lose control of the vehicle and probably wreck. Assessing and managing risk is also a part of everyday life though most people do not realize that they are actually using these tools to mitigate risks. In the previous example, one would assess the risks of travelling at a high rate of speed during a rainstorm and manage that risk by slowing down to a rate of speed that is commensorate with effects of the rainstorm in order to avoid hydroplaning. Thus, the risks have been mitigated and the probability of losing control of the vehicle is significantly decreased or eliminated. The principals of identifying risks, assessing risks, and managing risks are used throughout the homeland security enterprise to mitigate risks posed to the public, critical infrastructure, and ultimately national security. According to the Department of Homeland Security s (DHS) (2010) Quadreannial Homeland Security Review Report, homeland security is about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Functionalist Perspective On Divorce Divorce is such a personal and common thing in America. There are so many couples who go through the act of divorce every day. According to Kanewicher and Harris (2014), forty to fifty percent of couples will end in divorce within the first few years of marriage. Divorce is the legal dissolution of a marriageby a court or other competent body. There are many factors that may lead couples into divorce. Some of those factors are, marrying too young, low education levels and overall just lack of preparation (Kanewischer, 2015). Although divorce is common now, it was not like this back in the late 1900 s. Divorce was not allowed and most of the time people did not want to get divorce because of all the time and effort they put into their marriage.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general, children from divorced families did have more behavioral problems than children from non divorced families. They continue to struggle with the behaviors well into their adolescence stage and into their adult stage (Weaver, 2015). It makes maintaining relationships and trusting others difficult. There are three different theoretical perspectives. Functionalist perspective, which emphasizes the way in which the parts of a society are structured to maintain its stability. Functionalists see the contribution that it makes to society. The conflict perspective, assumes that social behavior is best understood in terms of tension between groups over power or the allocation of resources, and political representation. The interactionalist perspective, which generalize about everyday forms of social interaction in order to explain society as a whole (Schaefer). In the topic of divorce, it seems as if the functionalist perspective explains it well. Most of the people get a divorce because they are unhappy within the marriage. If the couple continued to be married it could cause more problems such as affairs, theft, depression, etc., therefore ruining the society s stability. Both individuals would be happier and there would be fewer dysfunctional families. Through the functionalist perspective, the idea of divorce is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
