This document discusses using earned value management (EVM) to control costs and schedules on construction projects. It begins with an abstract that describes EVM as a project performance evaluation technique adapted from industrial engineering. The document then discusses how EVM software was developed in Visual Studio 2008 to perform earned value analysis calculations and compare results to Microsoft Project and Primavera P6. It concludes the software could be useful for a wide range of projects requiring EVM analysis. Next, it reviews literature on using EVM to track construction projects, control costs in the construction industry, analyze project performance, and control costs and track a construction project through earned value analysis. The objectives of the study are then stated as concluding the project as planned in terms
