A survey was created to gather feedback on the presentation from classmates and teachers about different aspects of the presented magazine and ways to improve future presentations. Key feedback indicated that color and layout were strengths but more explanation of ideas was needed. The witness statement provided areas for improvement and aspects that went well to apply to future pitches.
Teenagers, specifically males aged 15-24, are the target audience for the proposed "Surreal Clothing" brand. Research found most of the audience to be male, from middle to lower middle class. The clothing aims to appeal to "Emulators" who want to attract others and gain approval. Multiple designs will be created in Photoshop and screen printed on shirts for photography. Feedback will be gathered to evaluate and improve the designs before a schedule of production and evaluation weeks.
The document provides an evaluation of the student's production process for their fashion brand project. It summarizes their research on existing brands, distribution of a questionnaire to their target audience, planning activities including mind maps and mood boards, and time management. It also includes sections on technical and aesthetic qualities of their designs, audience appeal, and peer feedback received.
The document discusses audience feedback received during the development of a media production project. It summarizes that feedback was received through social media, peers, and teacher reviews, which helped improve elements like the logical ordering of blog posts and selection of appropriate sounds. While some feedback, like for posters, did not work out, most suggestions were implemented, such as a glowing bracelet idea. The document reflects on how gaining a wider variety of ongoing audience perspectives and more specific feedback questions could further enhance future projects.
The document provides an evaluation by Aaron Acaster of the research, planning, time management, technical qualities, aesthetic qualities, audience appeal, and peer feedback aspects of an FMP project to design a magazine cover. For research, strengths included in-depth analysis of existing magazines, while weaknesses were unclear questionnaire wording and lack of diverse interview questions. Planning strengths were mock designs and exploring fonts/images, while more time on the double-page spread could have improved it. Time management was generally good but more efficiency could have allowed for improvements. The cover was inspired by an existing magazine's simple black-and-white color scheme with red accents. Peer feedback noted the cover looks professional but the blank left side could have been filled
Jack Hurst conducted research on existing clothing brands to inform the planning and production of his own brand. He analyzed websites, photos, products, and advertisements to develop ideas. Audience research provided insights into target demographics and pricing. Planning included a production schedule, designs, website structure, photos, and safety protocols. Time was managed well, allowing extra work like posters to be completed ahead of deadlines. Overall, thorough research and planning supported effective time management and successful completion of the production project.
The document provides an analysis of existing clothing brands and products to inform the development of a new clothing line. It examines brands like Off-White, Nike, GOLF, Champion, and others in terms of their branding, designs, target audiences, and photography styles. Key aspects noted include Off-White's prominent branding, Nike's focus on sportswear, GOLF's bright colors, and Champion's photography using distressed posters. The analysis of existing logos, styles from the 1990s to present, and advertising campaigns provides inspiration and guidance on creating a new clothing line aimed at a casual, streetwear audience.
Fintan Sedgwick evaluates his research, planning, and time management for his FMP project. Some strengths identified include the level of detail in his research on existing products and audience research. However, weaknesses include not including enough branding and photography in his existing products research and not asking audience research questions that helped inform his designs. Regarding planning, mood boards were a strength but the mind map could have included more details. Time management suffered as designs were not finished on schedule.
Fintan Sedgwick evaluates their research for a production process. They identify several strengths in their research, including the level of detail provided about existing products and brands. However, they also note some weaknesses, such as not including enough information about various price points and brand accessibility. They received mixed feedback from audience research and interviews that affected their understanding of the target audience. Overall, the evaluation highlights both positive and negative aspects of the initial research to inform further improvements.
The document is a proposal for a surreal clothing brand aimed at teenagers. It outlines the target audience as mainly male teenagers from middle and lower-middle class backgrounds. Research was conducted through surveys to understand the target demographic. The proposal discusses the concept for the brand which is to create distinctive galaxy-themed clothing designs. A schedule is provided that outlines the weekly tasks over 10 weeks, including design experiments, production, photography, evaluation and allowing time for adjustments based on feedback. Sources to be referenced are also listed.

He identifies several strengths in his work, including the level of detail in his research, consideration of different brands and audiences, and inclusion of mood boards and style analysis in planning. However, he also notes weaknesses such as not asking more insightful audience research questions or including a wider range of clothing styles and brands. Overall, Fintan reflects on both positive and areas for improvement in his FMP work.
Fintan Sedgwick reflects on the first six days of production for a branding project. He experimented with different logo designs in Illustrator and Photoshop, settling on a lightning bolt-inspired text design. For subsequent days, he refined the logo design and worked on designs for t-shirts, including a retro-themed text effect with shadows and glows, and paint splash and galaxy designs for a long-sleeve shirt featuring transparent text. On day six, Fintan began a "melting text" design for the back of a shirt but was unsatisfied with the result.
The document proposes a surreal clothing brand aimed at teenagers. The target audience would be mainly male ages 15-24 from middle and lower-middle social classes. Psychographic research found the target audience seeks approval from peers. A variety of gender, sexuality, and class identities would be included in the brand imagery. The creator has skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro from this year's learning. A 10-week schedule is proposed including research, design experiments, production, evaluation, and contingencies. References include audience surveys, interviews, tutorials, and examples of successful streetwear brands.
For day 9 of the production process, the document summarizes work on designing t-shirt graphics. The author began by developing a design featuring an astronaut with an alien inside the helmet. After adding effects like dispersion, the author decided it did not look good and reverted it. A paintbrush effect was then added. The author also designed a large stripe on a t-shirt with repeating "XO" lettering, but felt it looked out of place. The goal was to develop multiple designs for t-shirts to choose from.

Fintan Sedgwick created several logo designs over four days of production for his FMP project. On day one, he designed a lightning-bolt shaped "S" text logo in Illustrator and added effects in Photoshop. On day two, he added a galaxy image and pattern to his alien logo design. On day three, he designed a retro-themed text logo following an online tutorial. On the fourth day, he added shadows and glow effects to the retro text but realized these would not work for screen printing on shirts. He ultimately added a gradient to the retro text colors.
The document discusses plans for pre-production of a clothing line with a sci-fi/galaxy theme. It includes details on color schemes inspired by galaxy hex codes, plans to use stock images for designs due to a lack of design/photography skills, and the potential for multiple themes based on different aspects of sci-fi. Font choices are described as unique, abstract styles linking to the theme. Images included on the style sheet could be used for photography, showing different effects that could showcase the designs. Two layout designs for t-shirts are presented, differing in element placement and one including a back design. Photos will be taken from multiple angles to allow for different effects to highlight the clothing details.
The document discusses several experiments Fin Sedgwick conducted with Photoshop effects. It describes applying a glitch effect to images, which came out better with a darker image of XXXtentacion than brighter images. It also discusses using the wave effect to create glitches, and combining two images to glitch them together. Another experiment used the dispersion effect to make a person appear to disperse or stretch out. Further experiments included adding patterns, logos and text to clothing images on Photoshop to see which designs looked best. Issues with lighting and using a reflector during a photo shoot are also mentioned.
The document discusses various experiments the author has conducted with Photoshop effects and photo manipulation. It describes applying glitch, dispersion, and other effects to images, as well as combining multiple images. The author reflects on what techniques worked well and areas for improvement, such as using reflectors for better lighting. The experiments aimed to explore branding and logo designs for clothing by adding patterns and text to mock-up t-shirts in Photoshop.
The document provides an initial reaction and plans for a future media production (FMP) project focusing on clothing. The author expresses interest in creating urban-style clothing through designs made in Photoshop. They consider clothing to be the most interesting rotation that allows showcasing a real passion. The document includes an initial mind map outlining clothing and graphic portfolio ideas, and explores genres, styles, pricing, and printing methods.
The document discusses photography experiments with lighting. Some photos came out well while others were too dark, particularly around the subject's eyes, due to insufficient lighting. A reflector would have helped. A black background was used instead of white to avoid making the subject invisible except for the logo. While space was limited, side lighting created a cool visual effect. Overall, the author believes they can improve with more photography practice.
The document provides an initial reaction and mind map for an FMP (Final Major Project) focusing on clothing. Some key points:
- The student's initial reaction is that they are interested in creating clothing as they find the genre interesting and enjoy graphic design. They think clothing would allow them to showcase a passion.
- Their first mind map idea is to create t-shirts using screen printing or sublimation printing. They note different styles, prices, and opinions people have on clothing.
- Their second idea is a graphics portfolio focusing on sports designs like football kits and logos. They note showing skills, variety, and potential merchandise.
- Their third idea is DVD/CD cases for a
- Nearly all magazines featured one person taking up most of the front cover to highlight their importance. This establishes a key focus for articles within.
- Double page spreads similarly featured one side with a large image of the subject to emphasize who will be discussed. This reduces required writing.
- Colors were often contrasted with the subject's outfit or image to create a visual link between them. This helps branding and recognition.
- Websites generally kept designs simple for easy navigation between pages of content. Simplicity aids understanding despite limited design complexity.
The document proposes a sports magazine project aimed at adults ages 25-44. As the intended audience is middle-aged, the magazine would focus on recent sports news and events. Both genders would be targeted, with a possible emphasis on appealing to males due to the sports focus. Research would include learning Photoshop skills to design the magazine, studying existing sports magazines for inspiration, and finding current sports stories and information to include. The concept is to create an easy to navigate magazine with clear article descriptions and detailed sections, using minimalist front cover design featuring a basketball or football player to represent the sports content inside. Daily self-evaluations would help improve the work and identify strengths and weaknesses compared to other magazines.
This front three of Neymar Jr., Kylian Mbappe, and Edinson Cavani for PSG has been highly prolific, contributing to 78 of PSG's 86 goals in Ligue 1. Cavani has been the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 24 goals. Neymar, the most expensive player, has contributed 32 goals in only 20 games. Young Mbappe has impressed with 18 goals in 17 games at only 18 years old. This trio contributes more goals than attacking trios at other top clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona. Each player has had success before joining PSG, coming from top clubs in their home countries.

3. Research A strength which I can see in my research would have to be the amount of
detail which I have put into my existing product work because I have gone
through many different section of each part of clothing or poster and talked
about each part which I could take inspiration from and I could change and do
differently, the reason which I decided to talk about things which might
change my work would have to be because I want to make sure that my work
which I will show to people will be to the best of ability and make sure that I
take out anything that could lower my grade depending on the design.
Another strength with looking at different sections of work would have to be
that I can see what make there audience want to buy there clothing because
of the branding which they have used and then the pricing and class of the
clothing because you can see which each brand whether or not they are
aimed towards a lower class or an upper class. With these in mind this
drastically helped my product because I had to make sure that I portrayed my
work to the kind of audience which I think would want to buy my product
depending on there class.
Another strength in my work would have to be the fact
that I have chosen to go with different classes for the type
of clothing as I have chose a high end brand such as golf
Wang and a more common one being Nike and then I
decided to add an exclusive brand such as Off-White as it
is based around the pricing of the articles of clothing. For
the brands which I have chosen each of them have
different audiences because the cheaper they are the
wider the audience they can sell their product to, The
main brand which I had chosen talk about would have to
Nike as It is pretty much the biggest clothing brand in the
world because they are such an iconic brand due to their
long lasting history, with Nike the reason they have the
largest audience would be because they work towards
peoples needs as they have casual clothing and then their
main source of interest being sports which is the majority
of their brand. Out of all of the brands which I had talked
about Nike have the biggest impact on the outcome of my
product because It has helped me on the branding of my
work because they have subtle and obvious branding
which the questionnaire I had put out they didn't really
care about the branding of my work so it gave me the idea
to have both subtle and obvious.
The final strength which I can think of to do with my existing products would have
to be the other products which I have gone through which would be photography
in branding because I needed to see what different styles of photography looked
and how easy it was to show of their brand with out being to over the top with the
posters, for example I used the Dior photography for the main one because It is a
very simple design for a poster but the only reason that they can have a very
simple poster would have to be because they are a very well known brand so they
don’t need to show the clothing can just have the brand name and people will
already be intrigued to buying anything they sell. Which means I cannot use the
similar simple theme to one of my posters because my just adding the name they
wont know what I am trying to sell to my audience so I had to make sure that I
added something which made sure that they knew that I was selling clothing to my
audience not something else so to start I am have decided to add the text which
says “Surreal Clothing” which I think is very good because you instantly know what
I am selling. Alongside this Dior photography I decided to look at women's
photography as I had realized I hadn't mentioned anything to do with females so I
needed to make sure that I mentioned them otherwise it would have been seen as
a gender segregation which isn't something that I want to happen, With the female
photography you can see that they are quite similar in the fact that they have the
person in focus and then the background is out of focus.
4. Research A weakness which I can see when it comes to my existing
product would have to be that I haven't included enough in
it in the way of branding and photography because I feel
like I could have included a much more vast amount of
branding ranging from all kinds of prices and the
accessibility of a product because as I haven't added much
I have completely cut out a whole range of clothing which
is a lot cheaper and more available to the lower class
people. A brand which I think that I could have talked
about would have to be a kind of brand similar to GAP and
Next which is a very cheap and easily obtained by the
majority of the classes which is a massive boos to the sales
of any kind of brand when it comes to the clothing
industry, If I could improve this or do it again In the future I
would need to make sure that I mention more about
different brands and posters alongside the different types
of photography shots which I could have used instead of
the ones I used. The reason which I think I should have
added more would be because I think that I will boost my
grade higher because I want to try and get the best grade
possible which I can get.
Another improvement which I think I could have
made would have to be the summary of my Existing
products because I think that at the moment it is
very lackluster as I don’t think that I have put much
effort into the summary instead I have put effort
into the other parts of existing product even though
there is still improvements to be to them, I think
with the research analysis I could have talked about
a lot more than I have done because with more I
have the better it looks to the person grading my
work. In the future if I have the time to improve my
work I will use the time wisely by talking about
more brands and also different poster designs which
I could take inspiration from
5. Research
With the audience research section of my research
PowerPoint a strength which I can see would have to be
the amount of detail which I have gone into about the
different questions which I have had to write about
Which included talking about the observation of the
question which is just what you can tell by the answers
of the questions in my questionnaire for example in the
first question about gender all it shows me would be
that I have a larger male audience compared to females
which is quite self explanatory, Alongside the
observation I have to mention what it says about my
audience and also how the product will appeal to my
audience which is quite easy to talk for certain questions
which I have asked because with the gender there isn't
much I can talk about when its says why it will appeal to
my audience because the only real thing which I can
think of would have to be that I know more about the
male clothing industry compared to the female clothing
industry as I am a male.
Another strength which I can think of with the audience
research would have to be the added section which I have put
in the top right of pretty much every single one of the pages
which are there to talk about different things which about the
question to explain why I think that I have gotten these
responses for example with the question which asks “Do you
want your style to stand out?” I felt like I had to explain the
reason which I think that I go these specific answers for each
individual question, so if don’t really understand the reasoning
behind each question I have talked in depth about the
reasoning of the question.
Along side the strengths of the audience research there are
some weaknesses which I can which would mainly be that
with the questions I have asked I haven't really asked ones
which have helped in the final making for my designs
because for one question they have said that they didn't
want their style to stand out and also they would prefer the
more subtle branding which I haven't gone through with
which is something which I should have taken into
consideration before making the designs because I had
completely forgotten about these answers once I had
started making my designs which is my own fault. Also with
the questions I have asked I didn't really talk about what
each individual part of the question when explaining it
which could have effected my grade when it came to the
Audience Research.
6. Research A strength which I can see with my interview section of the
Research PowerPoint would have to be that I am getting
physical feedback on the type of work I am going to be making
because with this it helps me to chose what kind of audience I
am going to be selling my product towards depending on their
answers as these have drastically changed the type of audience
which I have based my work around because each of the
different interviewers had different for each question I don’t
think that any of their answers where similar which is good and
bad at the same time because it gives me more space to change
the type of clothing which I will be making but at the same time
it affects my work badly because there isn't one specific
audience which any of the interviewers fit into which would
make it easier for my self to pick a certain audience.
Another strength with my work would have to be
that with the questions which I have asked it picks
out the type of audience which they will fall into
because I have asked about abstract and casual
clothing which automatically changes the type of
audience which they are because if you want
abstract clothing you are more likely to want to
stand out where as if you prefer casual clothing you
don’t really want to stand out in my opinion, but it
is just my opinion. Also something else which I can
see with this part of my research would have to be
with each summary of the interview because I talk
in depth about the type of audience which I think
they will be put into, And also with the summary I
can see that there is major difference between each
person who has answered these questions.
Alongside these strengths to my interview research there are
weaknesses in my work would have to be that I felt like I
should have gotten more people to interview for my work
because by having more people it gives me a wider range of
people to look for so if there is one things which I could
improve would have to be that I would want to make sure
that I get more people to interview, the reason which I think
that I would want more people to interview would have to
be that with more people there would be a larger difference
between the answers which I have collected. I don’t know if
this would have effected my end product that much because
I was stuck with the same designs which I had thought about
at the start of the FMP, so overall this is the only major
weakness which I can see for this section of my research
PowerPoint which is good.
7. Planning
A strength which I can see when it comes to my
Initial plans would be that I have taken my time
and put a lot of detail into this piece of work
because it is the start of the FMP and I wanted to
make sure that I had a clear plan on what I wanted
to do from the start, this is good because I had a
basis to go by and I could easily make changes
depending on my feeling towards the kind of work
I was producing at the time because I had enough
time to make changes before I had to actually
make the product. With my initial Reaction I talked
about the way in which I changed my idea of what I
wanted to do for my FMP because I started of the
year wanting to make a video game for my FMP
but then realized it was quite boring and after
doing the Print rotation it changed my opinion on
what to do and then when it came round to the
FMP I chose to do Print over a video game.
Another advantage to my Planning would have to be the mood boards
as I have put a lot of detail into this section of the work compared to
the other parts of the Planning because this one had the most stuff
which I could talk about compared to my mind map and the initial
reaction, the things which I talked about during my mood board
would have to be different brands as I needed to look at them and see
what there audience like about them to try and take inspiration from
them, and also with each slide I have chosen different pricing of
clothing for example I started of with brands such as Gucci and
Supreme and Primark clothing which is a lot more accessible to the
majority of people compared to the more high end brands. And also
in the mood board I have talked about how that some of the more
well known brands don’t need to include a lot of branding on their
clothing which shows that people don’t need huge designs to make
their customers buy their clothing.
The final strength which I can see with my planning would have
to be the slide which mentions the the different style of clothing
which I have chosen vintage vs casual because they are the main
clothing which you see on a daily basis the reason which I
decided to chose to talk about style would be because everyone
has there own individual style and what they like to wear
because not everyone wants to be the same as each other. With
the style you can tell by the age of the person what kind of style
they would prefer because the younger the generation the more
incline to wear street wear and the older generation are more
inclined to wear vintage clothing and also some people are really
interesting in certain eras of clothing and the types of stuff which
happened in that time.
8. Planning Something which I have to say is a weakness to my work
would have to be my Mind Map because I don’t think that I
really understand how a mind map works because instead of
having loads of different ideas I have chosen 3 main ideas
and haven't really talked about anything besides these Ideas
because I didn't really know what to talk about with the
small arrowed areas for example Pricing I don’t know what I
could say at that moment of time, also with these small
things which I haven't talked about I think I really should
have done a lot more for this because there is a lot of blank
space where I could put detail and each individual thing
which I haven't talked about would be worth talking about
because It could have changed the outcome of my designs
because if I had found different types of printing it could
have given me more freedom to design what I want without
any restrictions, also something else I could have talked
about would be the style of clothing because they may look
better with other articles of clothing compared to the ones
which I have used.
Something else which I think that Is a weakness in my
work would have to be the clothing styles because I
don’t think that I included enough for my work
because there are a lot more styles out there which I
could about which include Punk and Goth which are
drastically different from any other clothing styles out
there which I could have talked about which may
change my grade and also shows that I am not just
choosing specific styles to talk about. Something in
the future if I have the time that I will try and
improve will be that I want to include more clothing
styles and also genres of clothing because a lot of
clothing is repurposed and made a lot newer with
different kinds of material which make it more
fashionable.
9. Time Management I don’t think that I managed my time very well because
with this time table I made on the left hand side in my Pre-
Production because with the time table I planned on
having the last two week for printing and making a poster
but instead I only used the last week for both printing and
poster because I hadn't finished my designs which didn't
give me a lot of time to finish my production section of my
work, the only reason I didn't finish my designs on the
weeks which I had decided to devote to designing would
have to be that I didn't finish them because I did’t pay
enough attention in lesson and I waster a lot of time
where I could have been making designs which is my own
fault and should be something which I should try and work
on in the future. Even though I managed to finish my
project on time I think that If I where to have more time I
could have come up with more designs for each person
who I had got for my photography because I could have
started of by having it so that each person was wearing a
blank t-shirt so I could put my design on the t-shirts and I
could change it at any time that I want. By doing this it
could have given me the option to have a lot more posters
because I could have put all of the designs which I had
come up with on the t-shirt without having to make a
physical copy of each one.
Another reason which I did’t manage to keep to my
schedule would be that a lot of the days which we had we
missed a lot of lessons due to exams which reduced the
amount of time which we had to do our, even though we
could have done our work at home I just left my work to do
at school because I did’t want to do any work at home
because I couldn't be bothered.
10. Technical Qualities
A major difference which you can see
between the two posters would have
to be that the visuals are completely
different because in mine you can see
that It is black and white and also the
only major colour which you can see
would have to be green where as in
the GAP poster it is very simple in the
fact that they haven't done anything to
the image besides cut them out and
put them next to each other which is
very easy and simple, the reason I
think that this is the main difference
which I can see would be because
there is a completely different
audience which they are trying to
portray there clothing towards
because they are aimed to a more
middle aged audience which don’t
have a lot of money to spend on
clothing where as mine is aimed
towards the younger generation but is
also cheap in comparison to other
brands. Also they don’t really need to
add much to the clothing because
people already know what they paying
for when they see the text in the right
hand side and also the GAP logo which
is a very well known logo in the
clothing industry.
Another difference which I can see between the two
products would have to be the style which they have
gone for because they have gone with a more formal
style not only in the clothing but also the way that they
have set everything out so that the audience can
visually see what they have to offer and are not
confused with anything on the screen, which is very
different compared to mine because although you can
really easily see what I have to offer to the audience it is
a bit more street compared to the GAP poster because I
have gone with a completely different style in the
clothing which the person is wearing and I have also
gone with a much more funky design to the font which I
have chosen which intrigues the the younger generation
because they don’t like things which are boring.
The only similarity which I
can see myself would have
to be that they are both
very simple designs
because with mine
although it took be quite a
while to it, it could be seen
as simple in the fact that it
just looks like a few simple
effect on it but I think that
It looks very good, but with
the GAP poster it is also
very simple but it is a lot
more simple compared to
mine as it just the people
and then a white
background with blue and
black text around the
screen. Which talks about
the branding which I
haven't really done in mine
which could have been
something which I could
have done if I where to
have more time to edit my
work and I could get
feedback on adding more
text to my poster about
the brand.
11. Technical Qualities
The first difference which you can see between these two posters would have to be the type of photography taken
because in mine I have used a very similar kind of shot in both photos where as in the Dior poster they used different
shorts because with the one where he is wearing a red coat it somewhat looks like the camera is looking up at the
camera which shows dominance which is very different because you wouldn't expect them to make it show the theme of
dominance in a photo, where as in the other image they have taken it once again looks like they are looking up at the
person which shows dominance once again. The reason which I focused in on this difference would have to be because
they have a theme with the photography where as mine doesn’t really have a theme to it, which I think I should have
tried to include in my photography.
Another difference which I can see between the two posters would have to be the effects which have been used in each
of the posters because in the Dior poster they have used a black and white filter in one of the images which suits the
effect because that it is the classic Dior look which is black and white because they use it in pretty much every single
poster they have, but they haven't used it in the image of the red jacket which is surprising. Compared to mine where I
have used allsorts of different effects to achieve the look that I want which is very nice but it took its time, the reason
which I wanted to add these different effects would be because I wanted my poster to stand out to the type of audience
which I am aiming towards which is the younger generation.
The only similarity between the two which I can see would have to be the fact that they both have used very subtle
branding in their posters because on the right all they have is the DIOR brand on the front and you instantly know what
you are looking and with mine I have just added Surreal Clothing in the top left so that they know what I am trying to sell
to my audience.
12. Technical Qualities
The difference between these two different posters would have to be the style which they have been portrayed because
in the right posters which are Nike they are trying to get across a different message because they have gone with very
bright and in your face clothing style which they are known for where as for mine I have gone with a more subtle design
for my audience, the main message with my design would have to that even though it is simple it is still very effective,
where as the Nike poster I think that they are trying to grab your attention straight of the bat because they have gone
with an obvious design.
Another technical difference which I can see between the two would have to be that I have gone through the effort of
adding effects to my poster because I want it to stand and not to blend into the audience with the rest of clothing
advertisement, where as you can see with the Nike poster they haven't used any effects but there's stands out a lot more
than mine because they have a very abstract way of showing of their clothing because they have made their models
jump in the air and then they have taken a photo while they are in the air which is very different and I personally think
that it is better than mine but the reason which I think it is better would have to be that they have used a celebrity and
also they have a high budget behind there posters so they have a team to make them.
Another difference which I can see between these two would be the branding of the two images because as you can see
in mine there is clear branding at the bottom of the poster so they know what I am trying to sell to the audience where
as in the Nike poster they haven't bothered to add there brand name because at the popularity which there company is
at they just need to publish and people will instantly know what the brand is and what they are about, which isn't
something which I can do because no one knows my brand well enough but if I had that kind of audience I wouldn't
bother adding the brand name because they would know what I am selling to them.
To reach out to a bigger
audience they have
used Travis Scott and
musician to increase
their audience to sell
more clothing.
13. Technical Qualities
The technical process behind making the t-shirt was quite easy to do as the first thing which I had to do would be to get
the design which I had made the weeks before hand and make sure the image had been flipped because if I hadn't
flipped the image, the design would been backwards which isn't something which would look very good on a t-shirt after
I had flipped the design I had to print it out onto transfer which is the paper which is used to put your design onto any
article of clothing depending on the material which has been used because otherwise it wont transfer, but with the
material which I had used it worked really well because it was just cotton. Once I had printed it out I had to cut out the
designs which I printed and then I got some help doing the ironing part of transferring the design because I don’t know
how to use an iron, the process of the ironing took around 60-90 seconds for each design because you needed to keep
going over it again to make sure that it has correctly transferred and then once you have done that you had to wait for
around a minute until you could peel the paper of and it would leave your design on the shirt. With the designs on the t-
shirt you can that around each design there is a translucent box around them because that is the actual which has left it
because the sheet which goes onto the shirt is pretty much tracing paper.
The reason which I decided to use the process of transfer paper instead of screen printing would have to be because with
my designs I need to make sure that I could get each individual gradient and colour on the shirt, which the transfer paper
could do compared to screen printing because you could only print with one colour as it would take to long and I couldn't
get the right amount of detail with each image, and also if I wanted to have multiple different colors with screen printing
I would have to do it multiple time to get the right colors.
I really like the outcome of the t-shirts because they look exactly the same as the ones which I had made on the
computer which was something which I really wanted to achieve.
14. Aesthetic qualities
I think that my work which I have made looks good because I think that Is very different to any other kind of clothing which I have seen before because
with the design down the side of the body is very different because as it is an area which isn't as visible as the sleeve on the back, I did this because I
wanted my clothing to be unique and not to blend into the crowd also with the design down the side I think it is very creative because the space
background in my opinion stands out very well because it is very bright and abstract and also with the text in the rectangle works very well with the entire
design of the t-shirt because with the font which I have used it is strange because at first when I typed it out I didn't realize that the l and a had been put
to together but then once I had realized it had I really started to like it because I takes up less and also looks very weird and funky. Also on this t shirt
something else which I like would be the main attraction being the design on the front of the t-shirt because it took a very long time to get it to look how I
wanted it to because I kept getting things wrong, with the design I took inspiration from the internet and put my own interpretation on it the visual part of
it is very nice because it is very vibrant and also retro style which is something which I wanted to have on one of the t-shirts, although I really like this t-
shirt something which I would want to improve would be the design on the right and hand side of the body because it looks out of place because it is very
small and also it doesn’t start at the bottom of the t-shirt which I think I should have done because the paper which I had used didn't have the ability to
make a really large area to make my design because I would have to cut it into different sections and then try and print them together and make sure that
they were not jagged, the way in which I would improve this would be that I could have found a different way to print it but still keeping the design and
the wide array of colors which would only be done by a large screen printing company and also it would cost a lot of money to do which I don’t have
access. Something else which I think that is weakness to this part of work would be the outline of the designs because I has a rectangle around the
different images because of the paper which I had used to transfer them onto the t-shirts, but I don’t think this is something which I could have done
unless I used another way in getting my designs onto my t-shirts for example going on a website called red bubble and put my design on it and get
someone to wear it but it would take a lot of time and also would be very expensive. The second t-shirt which I had made is also very nice because it is
very simplistic but it looks like a proper brand, the one thing which I really like about this shirt would have to be the text down the sleeve because
although you see it quite a lot I think that the ones which I had are very different because I have tried to include as much of my brand and what the theme
of my brand is about, at the same time as this being something which is a strength it is also a weakness because after transferring it I realized that I had
put the text the wrong way because it is suppose to say “Space Autopsy” but instead I put it so it says “Autopsy Space” which I could have thought about
before making them permanent, the one way I could improve this would have to be to try and get another t-shirt and this time make sure that everything
it correct because although it still looks nice I just think that it could be better than what I have made.
I have decided to compare my work against other streetwear brands because that is the type of clothing which I was aiming towards which I think I have
done quite well, the first thing which you can see between the two would have to be that they are a lot more abstract because with the first one they
have put loads of logos all around the t-shirt looks very nice and strange where as with the other one is strange because it has little add-ons to it which
make it stand out more to the audience, where as mine are very plain and simple because I wanted to make sure that I didn’t over do it as I thought that
they would’t very good.
15. Aesthetic Qualities
I think that the poster which I have above is probably the best one which I have created because it is very vibrant and in your face which for
this poster I was trying to do because I wanted the audience to be intrigued and interested in the clothing brand, which is something which I
think I have done looking at my feedback, and I think it is very creative because I have gone for a more abstract look to this one because I
have decided to go with colors which work well with each other and have used a huge amount of colour in both posters, as I wanted to at
least have one poster which stands out more than the rest of them. With this poster the main strength which I can see would have to be the
colors which I have used because I have made sure that they are not dull and blend in with other posters which see on the internet with the
coloring I used colors which I hadn't used before in any of the other posters. Out of the two posters which I have used on this slide I prefer
the one with the neon green string around the person because I stands out more due to the skin of the person because I decided to binary on
her skin to go with the futuristic space theme which I think that I have done very well. The major weakness which has been pointed out with
this poster by many different people would have to be that they think it is too dark which is a big problem because it makes the designs less
visible to the audience which I really don’t want to happen because it may affect their opinion on the brand if they are not able to see what I
am trying to sell to them, this is the only main weakness which I can see in my and can be changed very easily by adjusting the saturation of
the image to make it brighter. With these two posters above I had taken inspiration from the golf Wang posters because they are very bright
and in your face which is something which I tried to achieve but in my opinion I came up very short in comparison to the professional one,
the reason which I fell short of the look would have to be that I used a background which wasn't very bright I think I should have used a plain
background so I could change it to achieve the golf Wang poster look.
Another advertising which I'm going to compared to would be the Lean & Caviar streetwear poster which has a very casual look to it in
comparison to mine because they have gone with a very dull look to it which although is very simple it is very effective because they don’t
need loads on things on the poster to bring in an audience, also in comparison to mine I have used very vibrant colors in the editing because I
wanted my poster to stand out instead of blending in where as with existing poster I think they have gone with a black and white look
because they want the text to stand out the most because they have used a slogan which links to a lot of people “I’ve never met a dollar I
didn't like” I like that they have included a slogan/catchphrase into their advertising because they want to give a deeper meaning to their
products
16. Aesthetic Qualities
I think that this design for a poster is aesthetically pleasing because I really like the effect which I have used because It looks like a camcorder
which I had seen on the internet and had put my own twist on it because I thought that it looked very different from any other poster which I
had seen before on the internet, the reason which I think that I don’t see it very often on the internet would have to be that they sometimes
back the image less visible because they have the whole image glitched which gives you less visibility when it comes to the t-shirt designs. But
compared to the ones which I have seen on the internet I decided against adding the glitch effect to the whole image because I had asked
people to give me feedback and they said that they couldn't see the design on the back and the sleeve of the t-shirt so I had to make sure that I
changed it because I don’t want my audience to not be able to see my designs which I have created. Also by getting rid of the glitch effect it
gave it a much more simple and elegant way to it because it is not trying to be abstract, even though I want it to stand out to a wide audience.
The main aspect of this poster that I like would have to be the text on the bottom left because it works with the blurred section which I think
looks very good as I needed to make sure that I follows the direction of the glitch other wise it wouldn't look right. I think that this poster is
very creative but at the same time simple because I have made sure to add the things which I need which would be the branding in the top left
because otherwise once again it don’t know if the audience can tell what I am trying to sell to the audience because it is not well known brand
so they don’t know what my company is about. A weakness which I can see in this work would also be again that the image is too dark and you
cannot really see the text very easily because I have gone with a somewhat black and white effect which makes both the design and the text
hard to see because they are also both black, this is an easy improvement which can be made because all I need to do is to increase the
brightness of the image and it will make the image a lot better because I could actually see the designs. This compared to the other
advertisement on the right hand side is completely different as with this one it is an animated advertisement which is different to mine as I
have decided to go with a poster instead of some GIF because I wanted my audience to be able to see the actual design on the shirt because
with the north face poster they don’t really mind with it being a GIF because the design which they have used is very in your face and the
animated section wont change the visibility of it, Also something else would be I didn't make a website for mine because I otherwise I would
have probably changed mine to a video animation.
The other main thing which is completely different would be the branding which they have used on the website because they have used very
upfront branding on the screen because they want to make sure that the audience know what they are looking at and buying, also with the
glitch effect they have cut out a section of the poster and enlarged and placed on top which makes it look a lot better.
17. Aesthetic Qualities
A strength which I can see in my polaroid poster would have to be that it looks very old and authentic which was something which I was aiming for
because even polaroid's now a day have still have a very rugged look to it which helps with the background around the design, the way in which I
managed to get the authentic look would be using different effects to make it look like an old camera lens and with the light in the top left gave in a much
better look to it, and also I think that the main thing which makes it look authentic would be the text because is actually looks like it has been written on
there even though it is all done through Photoshop. This is pretty much the only strength which I can think about when talking about this poster because
there isn't much else on the screen which could be talked about because it is a very simple design but it is also quite effective because it shows that you
don’t need to go over the top with the poster to make your audience want to buy your clothing for example with supreme people just buy it because of
the name not what it looks which if I where to pursue down the line of clothing that's what I would want my audience to because it would show that you
have got that much popularity they just want it because of the name. A weakness to my work would have to be the type of shots which I have taken
because you cannot see the side design which I have made because I couldn't really think of any good angles would get both the front design and the side
because I wanted one of the images to have both of them there so the audience could see what it looks like with both on one shirt, also another thing
which I don’t like the shots which I have taken would be because I think I should have taken some images in the studio because I think it would have
better if I had the ability to get rid of the background for a plain colour which would give be the ability to do a lot more effects to it because I wanted have
the struggle of cutting out the background because It gave rugged edges on the outline of the character which where very hard to change and get rid off.
Something which I would improve would have to be both the effect which I have used because it doesn’t look as oldie world that I want it to look and also
I would need to make sure in the future if I could this better I would try and take some photos In the studio instead of outside.
Another poster which I think would be good to compare my work to would be the ”Iceberg Taps Lilly McMenamy for polaroid short fall 2015 campaign”
because they have gone with the same effect for their clothing, the one this which you can see straight away for a difference would be the text because I
have decided to add the text on the polaroid to make sure that the audience know what I am trying to sell to my audience where as with there's they
haven't decided to add the brand name anywhere because they more than likely don’t want to take up any space with the brand name when there
audience will more than likely know what they brand is about which is a massive positive because as a campaign you don’t need to have the brand name if
you are releasing them all at once. Also alongside that difference another one which I can see would be that there effect works a lot better with there
brand because the clothing which the person is wearing links well to the kind of era which the polaroid is at because they have gone with 90s looking
clothing which isn't something which I could do because I don’t have the access to make old fashioned clothing without it costing a lot of money which I
don’t have. Besides the differences one thing which is can see that is similar would type of effect because we have both made it so that I looks quite old
with a filter which is a key part in making a realistic looking polaroid because otherwise it wouldn't look very good, with mine I have gone with a darker
filter which gives a orange tinge where as the existing product has very subtle filter which cannot really tell is there which I really like and wish I would
have done something like that because it would make mine look a lot better.
18. Audience Appeal I think that the posters and
clothing have appealed to
my audience because with
the questionnaire answers I
had to take in consideration
their opinion so with some
of my work I have made sure
that the clothing doesn’t
stand out because that is
what the audience said they
would prefer because some
people are not as confident
in their style and other
people which is different for
everyone but I made sure
that I listened to their
answers, also another thing
which I have appealed to my
audience would have to be
the style of clothing which I
have gone with because it is
very casual which is what my
audience said that they
wanted because that is what
they have grown to like and
also some people have
different opinions of other
peoples styles because you
can tell a lot about a person
depending on the style of
clothing which they are
wearing.
Another thing with my work which I think has appealed to my audience would have to be the pricing of the
clothing I am trying to make it so that It would be affordable to the majority of the public because with the
answers which I have gotten back they said they would spend around £50-£100 on an article of clothing
which is something which I was aiming towards because I didn't really want my clothing to be high end
which will massively change the type of audience which I could reach out to because there are more
middle class people and lower compared to upper class which have the ability to spend hundreds on one
piece of clothing, Also with my pricing being quite low It will appear to the parents of the children because
they know that It wont be that much money compared to other brands which will make them more
inclined to buy my products. Another reason which I think that my work appeals to my audience would
have to be that the designs and the posters have been made to appear to a younger audience because I
have used very vibrant colors in some of my designs and the effects which I have used in Photoshop to
make my posters I wanted to make my work towards a younger generation because they prefer designs
which are more out there and abstract with the coloring and the way they have been made where as the
older generation prefer the more simplistic designs that don’t stand out at all.
Something which I don’t think appeals to my audience would have to be the branding because with both t-
shirt I had used very obvious branding where the answers from the questionnaire had said that they would
prefer a more subtle branding because it makes them not stand out as much compared to obvious
branding.
Something else which I
think that my clothing and
poster has an effect on the
audience would have to be
that you cannot really tell a
lot my product depending if
someone is wearing it
because it is very vibrant
and also at the same time
simple because it is just text
which effects around them
which is very hard to say
anything about which is
good because I don’t want
people to have a bad look at
anyone wearing the
clothing.
20. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
I liked the different designs for the T-shirts, because each one
looks different and unique. They look realistic and they look like
something that would actually be sold in shops. I also liked the
poster designs.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
The only think I can think of is that some of the posters are very
dark, so it is quite hard to see the detail on those images. Aside
from that, I think your work is good.
21. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
• I like that there are different patterns to the shirt and t shirt. This style of
pattern is very relevant nowadays so this design and product would sell really
well if it was in stores.
• I really like the shirt design
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• A couple of the photos are actually quite dark and hard to see anything in
them. If you could change the saturation of the photo to make it look
brighter I think it would look nicer. However, I like the design and patterns of
the shirts and t shirts and think this is really good
22. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
I think the designs are really unique and diverse on the posters/clothing. I
think they appeal to current pop culture whilst not being conventional and
are presented in a way that is centred towards a very specific audience, and
this is made clear.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
I think there could maybe be a slogan for the brand
which reflects the meaning behind ‘Surreal Clothing’
and what kind of message they want to convey to
their audience.
23. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
• I agree with the feedback which I have gotten back because I can see that with the designs they are
quite dark in the posters which makes it so that It is more difficult to see because some of the are black
and with my posters I tried to use a black and white filter on them to make them look more authentic
and old which was the theme which I was going for with my posters, so this is one improvement which
is very easy to change because I need to get rid of the black and white filter or I could even increase
the saturation because It would makes the designs easier to see compared to what they look like at the
moment.
• Something else which I agree with for the feedback which I had got back would be that they said that
the designs where unique which I am pleased with because I wanted to make sure that I had a design
which stood out and wasn't bland because I wanted it to appear to my audience.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• A part of the feedback which I disagree with would have to be that on of the people who gave me
feedback had said that I would need a slogan for my work which I don’t really think I need because
even though a lot brands have there own slogans for example Nike “Just do it” which I think the more
popular brands need but as a starting clothing brand I don’t think there is much I could have a slogan
for my work. But if this is something which my audience want me to have I will try and make sure the
slogan will have to link with my brand and the theme which I have gone that is space so a slogan which
I may use if I have to would be “Everyone needs space” because it links with the kind of brand which I
want to portray to my audience because it is a positive message.
24. Peer Feedback Summary
With the feedback which I have received from my peers I will need change somethings but there isn't
much at all which I will need to change because the main thing would have to be that I need to brighten
the majority of the posters which I have made because the main thing which was said has to be that It
was quite difficult to see the designs because they are quite small on the images and are also black and
white, This has to be changed when I get a chance to because I don’t want my audience to be unable to
see what I have created for them to view and even purchase for themselves or someone else.
The other thing which if know that I may have to improve with my posters would be to add a slogan to my
work because it gives you more detail on what the brand is about and what kind of message I am trying to
get across to my audience which I would I would try and make it a positive message for the younger
generation.
With these improvements which have been mentioned in my feedback I think that I can achieve a really
well done clothing brand because I have a lot of things which I had aimed to do at the start of the FMP,
even though I think I could have done for FMP which could have included some short video of the clothing
or even a small website which gave you information about the clothing because I think that would give
the brand a bigger name as the majority of up and coming clothing brands now a days have done this to
try and make it big in the clothing industry. But even though I haven't done any of these things I still think
that I have come up with a very unique and abstract brand for clothing which I could even turn into a real
brand if I wanted to pursue that line of work because I passionate about clothing and fashion.
