Week 1: The student began with initial responses and production experiments to develop their short film idea of a horror/comedy genre. The experiments helped them learn how to use the tools and equipment.
Week 2: The student analyzed techniques in sample films and conducted audience research to further develop their story and shots. They created a proposal and pre-production presentation.
Week 3: Pre-production tasks included story development, structural breakdown, storyboards, and risk assessments to prepare for filming.
Week 4: The student completed filming and editing, realizing the film was longer than planned but all scenes were needed. They changed some music and sounds to better suit the film and added effects.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2. This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
You should complete this each week during production
Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can
improve and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. On week one of our production I did initial responses and production
experiment's. For initial responses I instantly thought of doing a
horror/thriller and just stuck to that. But because I love comedies I
knew I wanted to add some comedy in my short film. Looking back
now I stuck to that idea all the way through and developed it into my
final short film idea. When it came to doing the experiment's it gave
me a really good idea of how I could want to shoot my own short film.
The experiment's didn't go as well as I wanted them to but they were
only experiment. This let us all use the tools and equipment for the
first time and really helped me get a feel for doing my short film. But
for a first week I really enjoyed and looked forward to what else was to
come.
4. For week two I began my pro forma power point and spoke about three
short films we were asked to review and talk about on blogger. We had
to choose three out of six and just talk about what techniques we saw.
This has really opened my eyes about film in general because every
film I watch now I analyse for techniques and now think how that
makes us as an audience feel. Going onto the pro forma I did target
audience research which involved primary and secondary and this
then helped me start to form my ideas of how I would execute my short
film. After that I completed my proposal and the proposal was the first
time where I actually decided what was going to happen and my actual
story line. This also helped me think about what I was going to finally
use for shot wise. Then finally towards the end of the week I moved
onto the second power point which is the pre production.
5. So during this week it was mainly doing the pre production power point.
What I did in the pre production was doing a story development sheet.
With this it helped me think about what techniques I was going to use.
As in using some jump scares and camera angles. Also this sheet made
me realise that even though it was a certain genre it still kept to the
same story circle and Dan Harmon's. After finishing that I moved onto
doing my structural breakdown. With this for me it helped me finally
think about how I was going to film and how I was going to do and
helping prepare. Because I split into three acts and explained what will
happen and then explain what shots ill be used and then added some
audio notes. The next part helped me with me keeping on track whilst I
was actually doing my filming and that it my story boards. I needed this
throughout filming because otherwise I would have forgot where we were
in the story or if needed change the order of filming. Another add on that
helped was the shot list and these together really I couldn't go wrong. For
the rest of the pre production is basically risk assessment and
contingency plan. With both of these it helped me open my eyes and see
other possible cautions that might go wrong when filming. To finish off
this pre production is that I put more thought into what sounds I was
going to use in my film, but now I realise I've changed a few sounds from
my original thoughts.
6. For this week I finished my filming and began and finished my editing.
When editing I found it rally fun to finally actually piece my short film
together and not to rush the process too much. When editing I soon
realised my short film was going to be going way over the actual set
time but its ok because my short film makes perfect sense and needs all
of the scenes to make sense. When adding sounds and music I had
ended up changing some of my original music and sounds because my
changes ended up suiting my film better then before. The reason why I
changed the music is because I forgot that one of the requirements was
that the music had to be royalty free and the music I had added or was
going to use none royalty free music then I remembered it needed to be
royalty free. After adding all the correct music, I kept on re watching my
short film over and over to see what sound effects I could add in and
after a while I added some more different one where I never thought of
before and then they really helped adapt my short film. Also wat I
thought was interesting was adding some effects on how each scene
looks and I added on some shading that gave it an interesting horror
look to it. I made sure I took my time so I could execute it to its full
potential.
7. Week 5 being the final week of the short film rotation and all I have
been doing is my evaluation. The evaluation was pretty straight
forward in what I had to do. All it was is talking about my film in its
final edit and just explain in different point why you made it this way
and what positives and negatives. Some parts threw me off a bit but I
eventually got my head around it. The towards the end of the
evaluation we had to get some peer assessment which I personally
think went pretty well.
