3. Research
when I was doing my research there where some things that I thought where my strength such as actually
doing my research. This was my strength because I wrote a lot about each film and I really enjoy watching films
and reviewing them. When I watched the films I wrote notes about them. When I started write my research I
used the notes to help me write as much as I could. My research helped my product because I used these
research notes to help me make my film because I used some of their ideas to make my film such as the colure
grading and editing techniques. The weakness of my research was writing my interviews. When I started to
write my interviews I didn’t know what questions to write I had a couple of ideas but I didn’t know what else to
write. What I could have done better is that write my interviews better because my questions where a bit naff
so I would write new questions. Another thing that I would do different is that I would make a different
questionnaire. The questions that I asked where a bit dull and really common questions I would also write
some more questions so that I would get more answers. When I finished the researched I wrote what I could
gather, what I would do different next time would be to write some more information about it.
4. Planning
The strengths of my planning was my contingency planning, I have wrote 3 whole slides. I knew a
lot about how to do this because when I did the film rotation I made a contingency plan in that
rotation, so I knew how to do the contingency plan. So I wrote quite a lot about the contingency
plan. This helped me make my product because I would know what to do when stuff like this
would happen so if a battery ran out I would know what to do. Some of my weakness for my
planning was my shot list because I didn’t write enough for my shot list but I didn’t know what
else to write. What I could change and improve would be my shot list because like what I said in
my weaknesses that I didn’t write enough. Another thing that I would improve would be my style
sheet because I don’t think I did enough for it so I would write some more information about the
style sheet. The effect that would happen on my product is that I would get some more
information on what colures to use for my grading .
5. Time Management
I think that I managed my time ok. At the start of the FMP
course I started to manage my time well because I gave
myself a certain amount of time on each PowerPoint and
each slide so that I could get at least something on each of
the PowerPoint and on each slide. And when I started to
shoot my film I made a shot list so that I know what I had to
do and I printed It out so that I could tick off every time I
completed something this kept me on track during the
shoot, also I made a schedule so during the time of doing
my FMP I have schedule so I know what I have to do in this
week and I could crack on with my work so I could get as
much work as I could get.
To be honest week after week it got harder and harder to
keep my time in check because I I wanted to make sure each
one of my slides where perfect so I spent longer on each
slide which made me get far behind on my other slide which
means I had do get more work done and in quick
succession. As a result I git quite tired doing all this work
and as a result I takes me longer to the work. But apart from
that I think that I managed my team well.
If I was to do my FMP again I would keep to my schedule a
bit better because if I keep to my schedule I wont lose time
on other slides and PowerPoint’s, and if I keep to the
schedule I will be less stressed out trying to get all my work
done

The similarities of our films is that the colure grade of our films. I used the RGB curves to to
set the colure and tone of my film. All I did was I made an adjustment layer, then I added the
RGB curves onto the adjustment layers and I tweaked the colures on that adjustment layer so
that I could see the differences between having the adjustment layer on and having it off. The
similar product probably uses a separate application to grade it because it would be
professionally done. The differences between our films is that in the jester emphasizes on the
jesters suit and it is really bright, and my film is more darker.

In my film the software I used for editing was adobe premier pro and adobe aftereffects. for
the main bit of editing I used adobe premier pro. I put all of my clips into a file and I
imported it into premier pro. And all of the other things I imported I would put them in
separately such as the sound file and the green screen footage. I dragged and dropped all
of my clips in order and then I put all the sound effects and green screen footage on. The
CCTV footage film I used it took me a while to get the timing perfect like the glitch effect
and the cutting to josh clips. The Kinderfanger is similar to mine because they properly used
premier pro because premier pro is one of the most popular software to use. The
differences is that the people who made the Kinderfanger where professional so the editing
was so much more clean and crisp then my editing.
8. Aesthetic Qualities

In this clip my colure grading looks really impressive compared to the professional one. The
reason why my clip looks really effective is because I wanted to make my scene look like a CCTV
shot so what I did was desaturate the whole image to make it black and white and then I added
a CCTV aesthetic on did this all on adobe after effects. Although the colure grading on the
professional one is amazing for only a year of practice my colure grading is good. My strengths
of doing the colure grading was doing the CCTV footage because it looks really effective and I
enjoyed doing that and the end product looks really professional. My weaknesses was getting
the right tones and colures in my grading because it is really hard to get the exact tone that you
want and I found that really hard.
9. Aesthetic Qualities

The Kinderfanger
My film looks ok compered to the film Kinderfanger. The editing in my film is really effective
such as the CCTV scene, I kept switching between the CCTV footage and josh on the laptop,
this starts to build up tension and at the jump scare gets the reaction from josh. The editing in
the Kinderfanger is really good the editing focuses on the kid especially her hearing aid
because that is a key prop in the film. My editing was quite creative with all the quick cuts and
the way the cuts make the view jump with the slamming of the door. My weakness of my
editing was getting the timing right in certain shots because I wanted it to be perfect and it was
really hard to do. I would improve my editing by having a look at some more shot films and use
some of the techniques used in them and try and use it in my horror film like focusing on some
certain props.
10. Audience Appeal
Yes in some places I have appealed to my target audience because my target audience where
people aged 15-25. this age group likes to watch horror films because it gives them a real rush
of excitement and will give them thrill, and I think that my film has done that which is good. In
the age group that I asked horror was the second most popular genre that my age group likes. In
my short film I have used a lot of tension and in my questionnaire I put what are your favourite
horror movie trope and over half (57.14%) said that tension is the best trope in a horror film and
that is what I did especially in the music . There is one thing that I would change next time to
make my audience happier is to make my antagonist a demon, ghost or supernatural because
the majority of the people that answered my questionnaire said that the more supernatural
option is better (58.33%) said that but not everyone answered

12. Feedback 1
What did you like about the product?
Your film had a really good atmosphere created by the colour grading. When outside and in
the bedroom the atmosphere is cold and blue which I think is really effective to make the
film seem more cinematic as a horror film. (it would have been good if you continued this
cold atmosphere in the kitchen scenes) Love the music. The bells give a really nice effect
and I think are a good representative of death and funerals. (which is a good foreshadow of
what will happen to the main character.) Also the music is a good indicator of the mood
when it goes from a peaceful piano melody to a deep ominous sound, changing the mood
of the film. I love the gas mask! It’s a nice effect to make the killer seem more intimidating
and mysterious.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
In areas the main characters voice isn’t clear and drowned out by the music. In some
scenes I think there needs to be some more explanation to what is happening. For example
in the kitchen at around 3:30 when the lights go out is unclear what happened to reveal
the killer and what the killer does with his knife (I think he pulls it out of its case but I’m not
sure). Also in some areas I think the visual is a little slow, for example just after 2:20 when
he is in the kitchen after seeing the killer on the security camera he stays there for a full
minute before the setting changes and when he is under the desk the camera stays focused
on him but I think it would have been nice to have cut scenes to the killer breaking in to
make it more visually interesting.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
Yes I do agree with some of what my peer said, in feed back one the person said that the voices
of the actors got drowned out by the music, the problem was that the microphone was bad , the
microphone was connected to the camera so the sound of josh was a bit quiet and crankily. Also
the microphone got a lot of background sound. I also agree with her point on the music they said
that the music fits my film really well like the bells make the film feel ominous, this is because me
and my music teacher spent over 3 hours looking at my film and messing around on the keyboard
to see what will fir and what will sound good.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
Yes I do disagree with some of the points this person made for example when I revile the kill I
didn’t put much light in to make it feel spooky. And the lighting in the background was as bright
as I could get it, also other people could see what the killer was doing. I also disagree with the cut
scene point. The reason why I didn’t focus on the killer breaking in was because I wanted to make
the sense that josh is going to be safe in his room but then when he here's the crash of the lass
he knows his time is up.
14. Feedback 2
What did you like about the product?
I really liked the atmosphere that your film created with the music and the
colour grading. When I was watching it I defiantly felt engrossed in what I was
watching as if I was the main character himself and I could feel his fear. Your
use of music is ace I love how it goes from a gentle melody to a foreboding
sound to let the viewer know that danger is imminent.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
In terms of improvements the only things I can think of is adding some sound
effects in certain places for ambience using either Foley techniques or sounds
from the internet for example the scene were the kitchen lights turn of and
turn back on maybe you could add an electrical flickering sound and cut out
the sound of the light switch so it sounds more like the power has been cut
out.
15. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
I do agree with the point that I need to add in more sound
effects such as electrical flickering when the lights suddenly
turn off I just didn’t have the time to add some in also along
with adding some electrical sound effects I would need to
add more sound effects.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
there is nothing that I disagree with in the feedback. The
feed back that I got from the second feedback form I agree
with completely.
16. Feedback 3
What did you like about the product?
I really liked the tense music, it reflected the atmosphere very
well. I also liked the CCTV part, it made it that more tense and
creepy, especially with the jump scare ad josh's reaction. In
addition, I liked the ending, with it not showing you any more
than it did. It was like a sort of cliff hanger.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
If I could change a few things I think I would use less jolly
sounding music for when josh enters the house. It felt like too
much of a contrast and was too quick.
17. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree that the transition from each song is too quick and
kind of spoils the score a bit. Also I agree with what they
like about my product such as the CCTV footage scene,
that took me ages to make.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
what I disagree with is that the music was to happy when
josh came in the house the reason why it is happy and
calmer is because he thinks he is safe in his house that is
the reason why it is happy music
18. Peer Feedback Summary
There are a few things that I would change if I was
to redo my film, for example would add some more
sound effects such as some light static when the
lights go out and what I will also do is make the light
flash a bit before it goes out. Another thing I will
add will be some more visual effects such as better
blood effect for the dead body and some more
glitch effects for example. Also another thing I
would change would be to make my score a little bit
smoother by fading them in and out a bit better so
it will sound better.
