St Vincent De Paul Swot Analysis
Non profit organisation: St Vincent de Paul
Fundraising campaign: Walk A Thon
Situation analysis
St Vincent de Paul is a non profit organisation that aims at achieving awareness and improving the
lives of those who face social injustice in Australia. These issues include, homelessness, poverty and
asylum seekers (St Vincent de Paul, 2016). This non profit organises many fundraising events
throughout the year as well as having Night Patrol volunteers each night go out into Sydney CBD and
give the homeless food and beverages. Homelessness is a large issue within Australia, as
approximately one in every two hundred people spends the night out on the street (Homelessness
Australia, 2012). All of these people are in dire need of basic necessities, ... Show more content on

This simple message is very powerful in the way that it can teach people that one simple act of
kindness has the ability to make a difference in someone else s life.
Each target public will have a different key message aimed at them because no target public is or
thinks the same as the others.
1. NSW Primary and Secondary Schools → Every step counts
This key message demonstrates to the children that even the simplest of acts, such as a small donation,
is still important in raising awareness of social injustices. It allows these young children and teenagers
to realise that it is important to do whatever they can to others as it can make a different no matter how
big or small the gesture is.
2. Employees and CEOs of Major Corporations and Organisations → Walk 4 Others
This key message will symbolise the importance of not thinking of themselves and doing acts that
solely benefit themselves. They should learn to participate in events that can benefit those who are less
fortunate.
3. Local Businesses → Walk a mile in their

Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy Tan s Two...
In a world which is only now beginning to emerge from the shackles of colonialism, both former
empires and the nations once subdued by their hegemony have entered a transitional period defined by
uncertainty and the loss of collective identity. Compounding matters is the delicate balance that
expatriates from former colonies turned independent countries, such as Pakistan, India, and Hong
Kong, must seek to achieve while residing in the former motherland of Great Britain. For the most
ambitious and hopeful immigrants, the arduous process of assimilation from pre colonial society to the
very seat of imperial power which once exercised dominion over your homeland from afar can be a
jarring metamorphosis. Two exquisitely written short stories published during the tumultuous
postcolonial period of the late 1980s and early 1990 s, Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy
Tan s Two Kinds, harness the provocative power of prose to explore the quintessentially modern
cultural theme of dual and transitional identity. By juxtaposing the paternal expectation of father
Parvez with the harsh reality his militarized, extremist son Ali, Kureishi exposes the fallacious notion
of the British dream offered to immigrants from former colonies around the world. Through her
wrenching tale of the divisions sewn between Chinese mothers, who lived through the Communist
Cultural Revolution, and their Americanized daughters struggling to bear the burden of competing
customs, Tan examines the

The Musical Gyspy
Gypsy Gypsy is a musical that captured the attention of the audience with incredible music and a
rollercoaster of a storyline. Gypsy was loosely based on the life of Gypsy Rose Lee, a famous
striptease artist at the time that the show was written. The character of Louise is based on Gypsy Rose
Lee and the character of June based on her sister, June Havoc. Gypsy is about a mother who tries to
have her two daughter perform onstage and make it in show business. In the end you find out that the
mother was just trying to live her dreams through her children. In Act I, the daughters audition to play
in the vaudeville circuit that goes around the United States. There mother, Rose, is pushing them to be
the best they can be but normally only focuses on June and not Louise. Rose convinces Herbie to be
the manager for the girls after she takes her fathers plaque to use for money. As time goes on the act
that the girls perform stays the same and is losing interest. Herbie gets Mr. Goldstone, who represents
the Orpheum Circuit, to have a contract with the girls and the newsboys which gives the act a new
name. Soon after Herbie proposes to Rose and she rejects. Herbie tells Rose that he will leave but
Rose refuses to be believe that he will ever get away from her. The act eventually gets to the Orpheum
Circuit and June is offered a place in a Performing Arts school, but Rose rejects the offer. Soon after
June comes up missing and a note explains that she eloped with Tulsa, a

The Delivery Of Healthcare Is The Proper Management Of...
One of the most pervasive issues in the delivery of healthcare is the proper management of patient
pain. In surgical settings, pain is an unavoidable consequence but one that requires handling with great
care as the unnecessary suffering of patient is legally and morally inappropriate. While pain is
typically a physical response to an external stimulus, such as a surgical procedure or the destructive
extent of disease, the recognition of pain occurs on an individual level. The brain is the ultimate
arbiter of what is painful and what is not. Due to this deeply personal context of pain, there are many
factors at play in its appearance. Some factor relate to environmental concerns while others derive
from societal and cultural impacts (Belfer, 2013). While pain is often an unwanted characteristic of
care, it is also a strong diagnostic guideline. Physicians can rapidly detect the extent of illness and
injury by following a patients expression of pain. Because of the importance of understanding pain, it
is important that nurses be acutely aware of all of the personal and cultural influences that can affect a
patient s understanding and expression of pain. Nurses with such awareness are more likely to avoid
the unfortunate situation of over or under diagnosing pain. The Joint Commission requires that all
facilities adhere to guidelines that state patients shall not suffer from unnecessary pain. The Joint
Commission also states that facilities must formally

Truman s Second Term Neared
When the end of President Harry Truman s second term neared, armed with the knowledge that
Truman declared he had no interest in running again, America s two major parties began looking for
suitable candidates.
At the time of the Republican nomination, the Republican party was deeply divided into two groups.
The conservative wing lead by Senator Robert Taft of Ohio [which was] committed to abolishing the
social welfare state established by the New Deal (Schake), and supported isolationism. The other
group, the Dewey Wing, was lead by New York Governor Thomas Dewey...[who] commanded
Republicans...[to accept] the social welfare state and international interventionism to prevent the
spread of Soviet communism (Schake). The Conservative and the Dewey Wing were vehement against
each other securing the Republican nominee as the conservatives within the party denounced the
Dewey wing as willing to compromise their values...[and] Dewey s partisans fretted that purists would
prevent Republicans from being electable at the national level (Schake). By then, three candidates
[had] put themselves forward: Taft, California Governor Earl Warren, and former Minnesota Senator
Harold Stassen. Republican operatives on the other hand yearned for someone widely admired but not
considered a politician: General Dwight Eisenhower (Schake), who was a recognized war hero,
prominently for being the general of the Allied Forces during World War II. He was loved by the

Taking a Look at Cave Art
When you think of cave art you may think of it is a way of just communicating or it does not really
have much meaning to it. But when you really look into the art you find so much more. It s amazing
what you can find about the humans in the past just through their art, you get to find out where did
they creativity come from and why did they create. In this essay I am going to discuss what made the
features on the cave so special? And why were they made? The stunning prehistoric cave art at
Altamira was decorated between 13,000 and 14,000 years ago. It was first discovered by Marcelino
sanz de sautuola and his daughter Maria He tried to bring attention to the old art at Altamira, for its
drawing of animals. The animals that were drawn were aurochs, horses, ibexes, and boar. The art
features were so special; the uneven contours of the rock give the animals almost a three dimensional
presence. The animals pasture, the colors were mostly red and black, and the shading was also in
colors which were yellow, brown, purple and white. The art was so powerfully the contemporaries
thought the paintings were not authentic because of how well it was drawn. They believed someone
else have drawn the art. They couldn t grip that art existed in prehistory. That was until Emile
Cartailhac, one of the French experts realize him doubting the painting was in error. The conclusion he
came to was that the Altamira paintings and others like them did belong to the

Difference Between the Maori People and the Kiwi s Culture...
New Zealand is an island country in the South Western Pacific Ocean and it is located east of
Australia. The country is small, similar in size with Great Britain or Japan, and their population is of
four million people (wikipedia.org). According to australiareiser.no, New Zealand is known for being
a clean country with a lot of green nature, high mountains, waterfalls, rivers and fjords. New Zealand
can be compared to Norway. It has a lot of similarities, but what separates them, are New Zealand s
bamboos, palm trees, long white beaches, spouting geysers and active volcanoes.

Many tourists visit New Zealand just to see and experience their culture. In a report from
Kwintessential.co.uk, it is written: A Maori will spontaneously launch into speech and song. Even
though they may not have met each other, they will know many songs they can sing together and often
use these to close or enhance speeches. They will often call for visitors to do the same and it would be
wise to have 2 or 3 practiced songs from your own country to reply with.
In addition to the Maoris speeches and songs, they have a dance called Haka . It is an ancient war
dance used on the battlefield and when groups came together in peace. According to newzealand.com,
the dance include violent foot stamping, tongue protrusions and rhythmic body slapping to accompany
a loud chant. It shows a tribe s pride, strength and unity. New Zealand s rugby team All Blacks,
performs the Haka dance to challenge the opponents on the sports field before their matches
(allblacks.com).
Another big part of the Maoris culture, is art. Their visual art consists of weaving, carving, tattooing
and painting. According to Wikipedia.org, their art is highly spiritual and the creation of art is
governed by the rules of Tapu. There are a lot of different styles of art, and they vary from region to
region. The most common and traditional art is highly stylized and featured motifs such as the spiral,
the chevron and the koru. There are three dominating colors black, white and red.

China was the first country to receive a massive restriction of immigrants to the United States. UU

Globalization And Its Effect On Society
Globalization and the use of new technologies and how it strengthens or weakens global inequalities
Globalization is a very important force in the new world and it continues to impact the lives of
individuals as well as groups world over. The role and affect of globalization has broadened over time.
It has resulted in the lessening of trade barriers, integration of the economy of the world, increase in
opportunities for groups and individuals alike and an increase in the economic well being and income
levels of individuals and groups. However, critics of economic globalization argue that it has led to an
increase in the unequal distribution of income. They say that although, groups have seen growths in
their income levels, there are groups which are facing the adverse affects of globalization. It has
driven some individuals much deeper into poverty (Ekmekcioglu). The developed countries and big
multi national corporations reap the most benefits of globalization as it opens up more opportunities
for them as well as increases the markets they operate in. It is, however, difficult for third world
countries to reach their full potential because they are not able to avail the opportunities presented
through globalization. James K. Galbraith in his article defines globalization as a perfect crime. He
says that in poorer countries globalization is a synonym for imperialism and colonialism (Galbraith).

Sump pump issues can prove to be particularly problematic for homes that require these devices. Yet,
it is a routine issue for homeowners to be somewhat misinformed about these devices, and this can be
particularly problematic for new homeowners. In addition to helping you to avoid potentially major
damages to your home, having these concerns addressed will make your home s sump pump far easier
for you to understand.
Why Is Your Sump Pump So Important For Your Home?
A sump pump is often installed in the basement or garage of homes that chronically experience
flooding or rainwater intrusion in these areas. These pumps have a moisture sensor that will activate
them the instance excessive moisture is detected. A powerful motor drives these

Business Forecast
Abstract
This Paper examines and compares various forecasting techniques used for qualitative and
quantitative business forecasting and their use in Firstlogic Inc., to forecast the demand under
conditions of uncertainty. Time series and Delphi forecasting methods are considered for this research
to evaluate their ability to make effective decisions regarding the future.
Business Forecasting
Business forecasting is the process of studying historical performance for the purpose of using the
knowledge gained to project future business conditions so that decisions can be made today that will
aid in the achievement of established goals. Forecasting plays a crucial role in today s uncertain global
marketplace. Forecasting is traditionally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This group then feeds back the responses to other members of the group, while never giving away the
identity of the response. The experts are then asked to respond again, after reviewing the responses of
other respondents. This process may continue until a consensus is reached among the group. The
group may be united to form a final consensus (Namvar, 2000, p.8). Time Series Forecasting Method
Time series techniques are the most popular quantitative method. These techniques use statistical
methods for projecting from historical data. Quantitative techniques are preferred when appropriate
data are available. The main assumption is that the historical pattern will continue into the future. The
two main types of time series forecasting are average smoothing and exponential smoothing. The
moving average is simply a series of arithmetic averages. Predicting sales for next year is simple. The
actual sales for a certain number of years is added, and then divided by the number of years used to
get the moving average. A weighted moving average is obtained by assigning a specific weight to
previous years. The sum of all weights must equal one. Recent years are given a higher weight
(Namvar, 2000, p.13).
Exponential smoothing is simply a subtype of the weighted moving average. A new forecast is a
weighted sum of actual variables (usually sales) in the current year and the weighted forecast of

The Stono Rebellion In Colonial America
Beginning on September 9,1739, the Stono Rebellion was one of the largest slave uprisings in colonial
America (Stono s Rebellion). It was the first known slave revolt in the continent of North America in
1739 (Slave Rebellions). Though it was one of the largest slave revolts in colonial America, it was still
unsuccessful, but because it was so large, it had several effect on America and its government. The
Stono Rebellion was thought to have started for several reasons. In August of 1739, the Security Act
was passed in South Carolina allowing white men to carry guns to church on Sunday because of
suspicions of slave revolts (Lewis). It was required for the white slave owners to be armed and
observant (Lewis). It was introduced because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this morning, while chanting Liberty! , the slaves went to a store and warehouse demanding
weapons and killing two people there (SCNHC). This growing group of slaves were thought to have
been attempting to reach St. Augustine (Britannica). By the end of the Rebellion, approximately 45
blacks were dead, and about 25 white men were pronounced dead. (Stono Rebellion). Some of the
slaves killed during the Rebellion had their heads cut off, and they were put on display for the other
rebels to see. Slaves that escaped were eventually captured, and they were executed along with the
others. The slaves responsible for the Rebellion were executed, and one slave was given freedom for
saving the lives of his owner and the owner s family (Stono Rebellion). Due to the Stono Rebellion,
twenty one whites, slave owners, were murdered after they decided to engage the 60 to 100 slaves in
battle (Stono s Rebellion). The Stono Rebellion caused several changes in the government of South
Carolina. After the slave rebellion, stricter and harsher laws were passed. This caused slaves to not to
be able to do most of the things that they could do before. For example, the white colonists rapidly
passed the Negro Act. The Negro Act was implemented to severely limit slave privileges (Stono s
Rebellion). It was also passed because the number of black people in colonial America was rapidly
increasing for some time. After the Rebellion, slaves were not

Ted Bundy was a brutal serial killer. He was also very charming and handsome to the ladies, which
made it easier to prey on them. He admitted to killing over twenty people just before his execution.
Many families were relieved when he was finally executed. Ted Bundy thought of himself as very
smart, because he was able to outsmart the authorities multiple times throughout the years of being a
serial killer ( Gerdes 41).

He made himself look innocent through just about anything the authorities threw at him. Bundy
helped himself out by saying he had been badly represented by counsel ( A Condemned 49). The
authorities believed he had killed at least forty people, but it was very hard to prove it. Dentists
analyzed bite marks on one of the Chi Omega s victim s buttocks, and compared them to an oversized
picture of Bundy s teeth (Knappaman 655). It was determined that there was a considerable amount of
similarities, and it was used against Ted as evidence. This was the first hard evidence the authorities
had against him in the trial. He sensed danger of being convicted and tried his best to cover it up, but
failed. The police also innocent found knotted panty hose like those used to strangle previous victims
at the Chi Omega House. They had finally found an eyewitness who was named Nita Neary, which
helped a great deal. They finally proved him guilty with this evidence. After his conviction Bundy
admitted to killing about twenty people, which included Debi Kent on November 8, 1974, and Nancy

On July 23, 1978, Ted was found guilty on multiple charges (Knappaman 655). Later on in 1979, he

Influenza
Influenza, also known as the flu, is a virus that infects the respiratory tract. Although Influenza is not
as severe as many viral infections it is almost the worst for viral infections of the respiratory tract.
Typically, when someone is infected with influenza they experience fever (usually 100° to 103°F in
adults, but even higher in children) and causes a cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, and also
headaches, muscle aches, and usually extreme tiredness. There are sometimes other symptoms such as
nausea, vomiting and diarrhea but usually only in rare cases with young children. One other note: The

This is called antigenic drift. This process allows the virus to make a more stable change yet still
evade the immune system. The second type of change is an abrupt change in the hemagglutinin and/or
the neuraminidase proteins. This is called antigenic shift. It isn t as stable of a change but if it does
make a successful and complete mutation it can become so deadly that another pandemic. Although
Type A viruses undergo both types of changes, Type B only go through the more gradual Type B.
Antigenic shift occurs only occasionally, but when it does large numbers of people or even entire
populations have no antibody against the virus. Although this is potentially lethal, the virus can only
start a pandemic if it is able to be spread easily. Throughout the 20th century there were three
pandemics, one in 1918, one in 1957, and one in 1968. Each of which resulted in large numbers of
deaths.
The 1918 pandemic was known as the Spanish Flu and was Influenza strain A(H1N1) and it caused
the highest known influenza death rate known, 500,000 Americans and 20 million people worldwide.
The 1957 pandemic was known as the Asian Flu and was Influenza strain A(H2N2) and caused 70,000

Persuasive Business Messages Essay
MANAGEMENT 101
BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
Why is it important to present both sides of an argument when writing a persuasive message to a
potentially hostile audience?
It is important to present both sides of the argument in a persuasive message to a potentially hostile
audience because one has to try and avoid angering the audience even more. What one aims to do is to
persuade the audience and let them know that they acknowledge the audiences view on the matter at
hand.
To show that one acknowledges the audiences view, one needs to catch the audience s attention this
can be done through addressing their side of the argument letting the audience know that their point of
view has been taken into consideration and then explaining to ... Show more content on

By stating ones side of the argument one can then explain how the decision made may help or aid the
audience in the future therefore it may help increase the audiences desire to change their view on the
matter which will more likely lead to a more positive response from the audience than hostility.
After collecting all the information on the topic of the matter at hand one can now formulate a way in
which they can convey the message to the audience without aggravating or offending the audience.
The way in which the persuasive message is to be conveyed should be convenient and most reliable to
one s audience.
The message has to be written in simple language so that the audience does not misinterpret the
message or be offended by the jargon used.
Grammatical mistakes have to be minimised in the construction of the message so that the message
comes across as having been carefully thought through. It should display good intentions and must not
be blaming to the audience but in fact it should help establish a common ground between you and the
audience, which will in turn help the smoother flow of communication and understanding between the
two parties.
Once the message has been created and proof read one would find the correct and most effective way
of sending the message to the audience. Face to face is usually best as it allows one to see the
audiences immediate reaction to one s message and if misunderstandings

Korea, this movement was significantly influenced by the peoples power movement during the 1980 s

religion by a strong catholic ethos throughout the country. The government tried to cleanse the country
between 1980 and 1983 to try to silence all democratic activists, many of whom were purged or

In 1985, the New Korea Democratic Party became the main opposition in the National Assembly. The
leader of this party came back to Korea after two years in exile, facing possible arrest or death, but had
two congressional representatives accompanying him for protection. This clearly shows that much like
the civil resistance movement in the Philippines, America aided the country in becoming a democracy.
South Korea, like the Philippines, built good relations with the United States during and after World
War II, this shows that for a peaceful civil resistance to be successful, they must have both powerful
religious factors and good alliances with powerful countries. If the powerful countries see a country
which they have good alliances with being demeaned by a corrupt government, they often feel the
need to intervene and try to come to a peaceful conclusion. South Korea is a predominately influenced

Ancient Greece Physical Geography Essay
Geography is the study of the physical features on Earth, it includes landscapes, people, places and
environments. Geographic features can positively affect the development of civilizations. The
civilizations that are impacted by the geographic features are ancient Greece and Egypt. Greece
existed from 750 BCE to 600 CE in Europe and Egypt existed from 2575 to 332 BCE in Africa. The
geographic features of seas and rivers positively affected the development of ancient Greece and
Egypt.
Geography has always had a great influence on Greece and its inhabitants, one of the geographic
features would be the seas. Seas were viewed as significant features in Greece due to the fact that they

The geographic feature of the river had positive effects on Egypt by providing annual floods that
brought rich soil to the land, foods, easy for transportation and exchanging of products from different
places. For example, every year the Egyptians would wait eagerly for the flood to come and soak the
land because the river brought rocks and dirt from the river bottom which made the valleys fertile, or
good for the crops to grow. The river not only provide water for the Egyptians to drink and used for
irrigation system, but also brought food by the fish in the river. Another benefit is that the river made
transportation easier using boats and barges due to the fact that the Egyptians were able to send
officials or armies to towns along the river. Another positive effect would be how the merchants
exchange or trade the products of Africa, the middle east, and the Mediterranean region by traveling
through the Nile River by sailboats. This demonstrates how the river made it possible for trading

The Golden Age Of Discovery
The Golden Age begins in 1415 and ends in 1578 (Kreis, 2011, para 4).The Golden Age is also
referred to as the Age of Discovery (Kreis, 2011, para 4).This age of discovery was entailed in
exploring the coast of Africa (Bamber, 2001, para 6).
A sailing school was established in Sagres which promoted more expeditions, which led to exploring
multiple islands and made expansions of Portugal s empire possible (Bamber, 2001, para 6). These
islands (Madeira and Azores) were rich in sugar cane and vineyards (Bamber, 2001, para 6. The aim

The Benjamin Franklin Story Essay
The Benjamin Franklin Story
In my opinion Ben Franklin was the most influential of the founding fathers. He did a lot more than
just help found our nation though. He was also a scientist, diplomat, businessman, and philosopher. I
can t think of any person who is more quoted than he is, and he lived 200 years ago! Benjamin
Franklin, born January 17, 1706, was the 10th son of 17 children. He was born and grew up in Boston.
Even though he was considered by most to be extremely intelligent, he only attended grammar school
for 2 years. When he was just 10 years old, Ben began to work for his father as a candle maker
(Sahlman). In 1717, he began to regain some of the knowledge that he was deprived when he was

Analysis Of Luria And Rubin ( 1974 )
Introduction
Subject investigated: Gender stereotypes
Details and aim of replicated study: Luria and Rubin (1974)
Background literature: Previous studies about gender stereotypes enforced on people include; Effect of
infant s perceived gender on adolescents ratings of the infant by Degelman, Dvorak, and Homutoff
and Cowan (1983). These studies highlight feminine and masculine traits. They ask middle school
students to rate a baby on each of those traits.
Rationale: Our group decided to examine the differences in how boys and girls are described. We used
a baby, whose gender is not mentioned, as the control. We knew that specific sets of expectations
based on gender are enforced at a young age. We thought adjectives used to describe a baby could
highlight stereotypical gender roles.
Aim / Hypothesis: We believe it is more likely for the baby to be described based on appearance when
told it is a girl and when told it is a boy to be described based on their potential and whether they
looked smart . Our aim is to highlight the differences between males and females using stereotypical
gender roles.
Method
Design: 15 students were each asked the same question, could you tell us 5 words or phrases that
describe this baby? . 5 were told it was a girl, 5 were told it was a boy, and 5 weren t told a gender.
We decided to use 15 people so that we could use the non gendered descriptions from 5 of the
participants and compare them to the descriptions of boys and

Native Language And American Culture
I was born and raised in America, my native language is English, I love rock music and American
food; people often think I am white because of the way I look and act. However, my ethnicity is
Hispanic American. My parents were born and raised in El Salvador, I have only been there once
when I was younger and I remember it like it was yesterday. I was hit with a bit of culture shock
because there were things I was not used to. As a kid, my Spanish was not that great so being in a
country where everyone speaks perfect Spanish and little to no English was difficult. If we wanted to
ride the bus it would not come to a full stop instead you would have to hop on while someone helped
you up. People often walked around with huge guns for protection and every restaurant, even the fast
food places, had a doorman with a gun. I was only there for two weeks and the first few days I showed
a bit of ethnocentrism because I was not used to those kind of things. In America the majority speak
English, guns are usually illegal, and busses usually stop for you to get on so experiencing all these
new things all at once was a bit overwhelming. But, after getting used to it I expressed cultural
relativism and accepted it and even thought it was cool. In El Salvador being American makes you the
minority group, but in America it is the opposite. Some Americans create these stereotypes about
Hispanics saying that we are all lazy, are criminals, or only work blue collar jobs. I have had people

Movement was no longer by creeping, but used muscular contractions through a siphon to propel the

These early cephalopods, which have shells common in the fossil record, would have spent their lives
bobbing vertically in the water column, bouyed by their shells, and with their tentacles dangling
downward to capture prey. They wouldn t have been particularly mobile that form of a cone hanging
vertically in the water isn t particularly well streamlined for horizontal motion so the next big
innovation was a rotation of the body axis, swiveling the body axis 90° to turn a cone into a torpedo.
There is evidence that many species did this independently.

The tilting of the body axes of extant cephalopods. This was a result of a polyphyletic and repeated
trend towards enhanced manoeuverability. The morphological body axes (anterior posterior, dorso

Algae Research Paper
One world environmental issue that we have to turn our attention to is poaching, specifically in Africa,
of animals such as elephants, zebras, lions, black rhinos, and mountain gorillas. Last year alone, over
35000 elephants were killed for their ivory tusks. Ivory is sold illegally for up to $1000 per pound, and
the tusks are often carved into jewelry, religious figurines, utensils, and other small trinkets. Around
2000 zebras remain in the wild, and these animals are sought after for their black and white striped
skins, which are often made into clothing or accessories. The surviving lion population is a mere 15%
of what it used to be, and that is because farmers keep killing them before the lions kill their livestock.
Lions are often hunted for fun too, most recently Cecil. The black rhino population is down 97.6%
since 1960, and these animals are killed for their valuable horns. The horns are believed to heal
various ailments, when in reality, the horns do not cure anything, it s all myth. Fewer than 900

Organisations are effected by many different competitive factors that they are forced to face.
Organisations will try to strike competitive advantages by marketing using the fours P s; product,

Letter To Mormons

The first reason explains why you are receiving this letter today and why there are other papers
included in this envelope. Currently, in my sophomore year at Biola, I have served as a leader in a
student ran ministry on campus called Evangelical Mormon interaction (EMI). As a leader I preach
weekly 45minute lessons on Mormon doctrine or culture, giving the Christian response to them, and I

Aren t they Christian? My honest answer is no, Mormons follow a counterfeit Christ who can t save.
Mormons say that they have the complete, restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. But the Gospel and saving
power of Jesus needs no restoration, it was never broken. For Mormons to add to the Gospel actually
turns it in into something that stands in the face of, contrasting, the good news of Jesus. For Mormons
to truly follow Jesus they need to un restore their Gospel of Jesus.
The second thing I m writing you about is to let you know that this will not be my last time asking you
to partner with me in ministry. Throughout my 20s, I see myself going on many other missions trips
and taking on other ministries that could not pay well or at all all for the sake of the Jesus. Whenever
people donate to ministries it is common to not hear about how the trip went, what your money went
to, or what the next need is. I recognize this reality and want to counteract it. You all are a vital part of
what I do, in partnering with me in these ministries you should know how I m doing and what is

Factors That Affect The Growth And Germination Rates Were...
Plants are an essential part of survival for humans and animals and contribute significantly to various
areas of the lives of organisms. In order to better understand the different plants and its requirements
the growth and germination rates were investigated. The hypothesis stated that if the dicotolydeons
and monocotyledons are placed in the same environment and watered regularly, then the dicotyledons
will have a faster growth and germination rate.
In order for plants to survive, it is a necessity for the process of photosynthesis to occur.
Photosynthesis is the process wherein plants create oxygen and food for themselves (glucose) using
carbon dioxide, water and energy from the sun. Once this process is completed, plants are able to grow
using the nutrients provided by photosynthesis.
Word equation: carbon dioxide + water (SUNLIGHT AND CHLORYPHYLL) glucose + oxygen
There are many factors that affect photosynthesis such as light availability, carbon dioxide
concentration and temperature. Light is a limiting factor as if there is not enough light available, the
rate of photosynthesis will decrease. This is because without the light, the chlorophyll (not be created)
will be unable to absorb energy from the sun, resulting in no food which is required for survival.
Temperature plays an essential role in photosynthesis as well. As the temperature increases, so does
the rate of photosynthesis. As it is a chemical reaction, an increase in temperature will cause enzymes

Religious Politics in India
There are one billion people in India, the second most populous country in the world. This means
every sixth person in the world is an Indian. About 450 million Indians live below the poverty line.
Suppression of religious minorities and its nuclear blasts have made India visible to the world. One of
the messages that India sent to the world was that it needs to be reckoned with. The Hindu nationalist
leadership on the whole sent this message. While each country needs dignity before others, many ask
why such a poverty ridden country should invest massive amounts in nuclear devices and why it
persecutes a Christian religious minority that has made bold attempts to empower the poor of India.

Hasta Mudras Essay
The Dance therapy, especially Mudra therapy is involved in holding the hasta mudras to give the
therapeutic effect. When we hold a particular hasta mudra the nerves get stimulated and it is passed to
the brain via the spinal cord through the peripheral nervous system. To comprehend the stimulations,
while holding the Hasta Mudras; and the process of carrying the impulses to the brain and back, we
need to study the nervous system of the brain and its functions. The nervous system comprises the
central nervous system, consisting of the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system,
consisting of the cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerves, together with their motor and sensory endings.
4.6.1 Central nervous system The central nervous system is composed of millions of nerve and glial

Women During The Viking Culture
Women in Viking Culture
When you think of the Vikings, chances are you think of horned helmets, raids, and bloody battles.
But on the other side of the spectrum, there are the women of Nordic culture. Women are mostly
thought of as looking like Viking warriors fighting alongside their men. But that was hardly the case.
In reality, women were important in many other ways. They were treated very differently than other
women in different European cultures at that time. The home lives of the women in Nordic society
were very important to the social acceptance of who they were. Who they were married to, if they
practiced gender roles, and how they kept their family were all factors that make up how people
viewed them. Ideally, women at this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her children would then inherit the dowry as part of their estate ( Women ). Just as the dowry, the
woman did not fully become part of her husband s family when she married. She was a part of her
own family. If her husband mistreated her or her children, or was too lazy to be a sufficient provider or
even insult her family, those were grounds to divorce him. To do this, she must call in witnesses. She
must announce her divorce in front of said witnesses at her front door, then at their bed ( Women ). At
the time of a divorce, the woman would be given back her dowry that was brought with her at the start
of the marriage (The Role of Women). Children automatically stayed with their mother in case of a
divorce. It depended who the older children stayed with according to status and wealth of the two
families. The children still held their rights to inheritance, even after divorce ( Women ). Divorce is a
prime example of how women of this culture had it better than many other cultures. What was
expected of the female children was vastly different than what was expected of the adults. Unlike most
cultures where the boys attend school and the girls learn housework, it is believed that neither attended

There is a bike out there for anyone and everyone that wants to get out there and have some fun, get a

Use Of Stream Of Consciousness Techniques By William Faulkner
Simile. Metaphor. Onomatopoeia. We are taught these terms in elementary school and soon forget
them, but they are some of the most important tools authors can use to make their characters more
captivating and their narrative more convincing. Each writer s style is as unique as a fingerprint; the
particular pattern of loops and whorls, so to speak, depends in part on their use of these literary modes.
The literary fingerprint of William Faulkner, while typically adhering to standard rules of writing, is
recognized by its use of stream of consciousness techniques, a term coined by psychologist William

NSW Primary and Secondary Schools → Every step counts This key message demonstrates to the children that even the simplest of acts, such as a small donation, is still important in raising awareness of social injustices. • 3. Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy Tan s Two... In a world which is only now beginning to emerge from the shackles of colonialism, both former empires and the nations once subdued by their hegemony have entered a transitional period defined by uncertainty and the loss of collective identity. Compounding matters is the delicate balance that expatriates from former colonies turned independent countries, such as Pakistan, India, and Hong Kong, must seek to achieve while residing in the former motherland of Great Britain. For the most ambitious and hopeful immigrants, the arduous process of assimilation from pre colonial society to the very seat of imperial power which once exercised dominion over your homeland from afar can be a jarring metamorphosis. Two exquisitely written short stories published during the tumultuous postcolonial period of the late 1980s and early 1990 s, Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy Tan s Two Kinds, harness the provocative power of prose to explore the quintessentially modern cultural theme of dual and transitional identity. By juxtaposing the paternal expectation of father Parvez with the harsh reality his militarized, extremist son Ali, Kureishi exposes the fallacious notion of the British dream offered to immigrants from former colonies around the world. Through her wrenching tale of the divisions sewn between Chinese mothers, who lived through the Communist Cultural Revolution, and their Americanized daughters struggling to bear the burden of competing customs, Tan examines the ... • 5. The Delivery Of Healthcare Is The Proper Management Of... One of the most pervasive issues in the delivery of healthcare is the proper management of patient pain. In surgical settings, pain is an unavoidable consequence but one that requires handling with great care as the unnecessary suffering of patient is legally and morally inappropriate. While pain is typically a physical response to an external stimulus, such as a surgical procedure or the destructive extent of disease, the recognition of pain occurs on an individual level. The brain is the ultimate arbiter of what is painful and what is not. Due to this deeply personal context of pain, there are many factors at play in its appearance. Some factor relate to environmental concerns while others derive from societal and cultural impacts (Belfer, 2013). While pain is often an unwanted characteristic of care, it is also a strong diagnostic guideline. Physicians can rapidly detect the extent of illness and injury by following a patients expression of pain. Because of the importance of understanding pain, it is important that nurses be acutely aware of all of the personal and cultural influences that can affect a patient s understanding and expression of pain. Nurses with such awareness are more likely to avoid the unfortunate situation of over or under diagnosing pain. The Joint Commission requires that all facilities adhere to guidelines that state patients shall not suffer from unnecessary pain. The Joint Commission also states that facilities must formally ... • 6. Truman s Second Term Neared When the end of President Harry Truman s second term neared, armed with the knowledge that Truman declared he had no interest in running again, America s two major parties began looking for suitable candidates. At the time of the Republican nomination, the Republican party was deeply divided into two groups. The conservative wing lead by Senator Robert Taft of Ohio [which was] committed to abolishing the social welfare state established by the New Deal (Schake), and supported isolationism. The other group, the Dewey Wing, was lead by New York Governor Thomas Dewey...[who] commanded Republicans...[to accept] the social welfare state and international interventionism to prevent the spread of Soviet communism (Schake). The Conservative and the Dewey Wing were vehement against each other securing the Republican nominee as the conservatives within the party denounced the Dewey wing as willing to compromise their values...[and] Dewey s partisans fretted that purists would prevent Republicans from being electable at the national level (Schake). By then, three candidates [had] put themselves forward: Taft, California Governor Earl Warren, and former Minnesota Senator Harold Stassen. Republican operatives on the other hand yearned for someone widely admired but not considered a politician: General Dwight Eisenhower (Schake), who was a recognized war hero, prominently for being the general of the Allied Forces during World War II. But when you really look into the art you find so much more. It s amazing what you can find about the humans in the past just through their art, you get to find out where did they creativity come from and why did they create. In this essay I am going to discuss what made the features on the cave so special? And why were they made? The stunning prehistoric cave art at Altamira was decorated between 13,000 and 14,000 years ago. It was first discovered by Marcelino sanz de sautuola and his daughter Maria He tried to bring attention to the old art at Altamira, for its drawing of animals. The animals that were drawn were aurochs, horses, ibexes, and boar. The art features were so special; the uneven contours of the rock give the animals almost a three dimensional presence. The animals pasture, the colors were mostly red and black, and the shading was also in colors which were yellow, brown, purple and white. The art was so powerfully the contemporaries thought the paintings were not authentic because of how well it was drawn. They believed someone else have drawn the art. They couldn t grip that art existed in prehistory. That was until Emile Cartailhac, one of the French experts realize him doubting the painting was in error. The conclusion he came to was that the Altamira paintings and others like them did belong to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Globalization And Its Effect On Society Globalization and the use of new technologies and how it strengthens or weakens global inequalities Globalization is a very important force in the new world and it continues to impact the lives of individuals as well as groups world over. The role and affect of globalization has broadened over time. It has resulted in the lessening of trade barriers, integration of the economy of the world, increase in opportunities for groups and individuals alike and an increase in the economic well being and income levels of individuals and groups. However, critics of economic globalization argue that it has led to an increase in the unequal distribution of income. They say that although, groups have seen growths in their income levels, there are groups which are facing the adverse affects of globalization. It has driven some individuals much deeper into poverty (Ekmekcioglu). The developed countries and big multi national corporations reap the most benefits of globalization as it opens up more opportunities for them as well as increases the markets they operate in. It is, however, difficult for third world countries to reach their full potential because they are not able to avail the opportunities presented through globalization. James K. These techniques use statistical methods for projecting from historical data. Quantitative techniques are preferred when appropriate data are available. The main assumption is that the historical pattern will continue into the future. The two main types of time series forecasting are average smoothing and exponential smoothing. The moving average is simply a series of arithmetic averages. Predicting sales for next year is simple. The actual sales for a certain number of years is added, and then divided by the number of years used to get the moving average. A weighted moving average is obtained by assigning a specific weight to previous years. The sum of all weights must equal one. Recent years are given a higher weight (Namvar, 2000, p.13). Exponential smoothing is simply a subtype of the weighted moving average. A new forecast is a weighted sum of actual variables (usually sales) in the current year and the weighted forecast of ... It is important to present both sides of the argument in a persuasive message to a potentially hostile audience because one has to try and avoid angering the audience even more. What one aims to do is to persuade the audience and let them know that they acknowledge the audiences view on the matter at hand. After collecting all the information on the topic of the matter at hand one can now formulate a way in which they can convey the message to the audience without aggravating or offending the audience. The way in which the persuasive message is to be conveyed should be convenient and most reliable to one s audience. The message has to be written in simple language so that the audience does not misinterpret the message or be offended by the jargon used. Grammatical mistakes have to be minimised in the construction of the message so that the message comes across as having been carefully thought through. It should display good intentions and must not be blaming to the audience but in fact it should help establish a common ground between you and the audience, which will in turn help the smoother flow of communication and understanding between the two parties. Ivory is sold illegally for up to $1000 per pound, and the tusks are often carved into jewelry, religious figurines, utensils, and other small trinkets. Around 2000 zebras remain in the wild, and these animals are sought after for their black and white striped skins, which are often made into clothing or accessories. The surviving lion population is a mere 15% of what it used to be, and that is because farmers keep killing them before the lions kill their livestock. Lions are often hunted for fun too, most recently Cecil. The black rhino population is down 97.6% since 1960, and these animals are killed for their valuable horns. The horns are believed to heal various ailments, when in reality, the horns do not cure anything, it s all myth. Fewer than 900 mountain gorillas remain in the wild, and infant gorillas are often sold on the black market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, most people nowadays have cars that run on gasoline, as well as home appliances such as furnaces, stoves, and generators. In order for people to transition to algae biofuel, they will most likely have to purchase new appliances or new parts to make their existing appliances and cars algae friendly. I think that with time, people will become more and more comfortable with the thought of utilizing algae biofuel for everyday activities, similarly to how it took years for people to accept using solar panels to run their households and electric to fuel their ... The first reason explains why you are receiving this letter today and why there are other papers included in this envelope. Currently, in my sophomore year at Biola, I have served as a leader in a student ran ministry on campus called Evangelical Mormon interaction (EMI). As a leader I preach weekly 45minute lessons on Mormon doctrine or culture, giving the Christian response to them, and I ll lead prayer nights. Then, twice a year EMI goes to Utah! This January I ll be going to Utah for 2 weeks with the intention of engaging the local Mormon population and encouraging the small minority Christians who live there as well. Mormons say that they have the complete, restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. But the Gospel and saving power of Jesus needs no restoration, it was never broken. For Mormons to add to the Gospel actually turns it in into something that stands in the face of, contrasting, the good news of Jesus. For Mormons to truly follow Jesus they need to un restore their Gospel of Jesus. The second thing I m writing you about is to let you know that this will not be my last time asking you to partner with me in ministry. Throughout my 20s, I see myself going on many other missions trips and taking on other ministries that could not pay well or at all all for the sake of the Jesus. Whenever people donate to ministries it is common to not hear about how the trip went, what your money went to, or what the next need is. I recognize this reality and want to counteract it. • 30. Factors That Affect The Growth And Germination Rates Were... Plants are an essential part of survival for humans and animals and contribute significantly to various areas of the lives of organisms. In order to better understand the different plants and its requirements the growth and germination rates were investigated. The hypothesis stated that if the dicotolydeons and monocotyledons are placed in the same environment and watered regularly, then the dicotyledons will have a faster growth and germination rate. In order for plants to survive, it is a necessity for the process of photosynthesis to occur. Photosynthesis is the process wherein plants create oxygen and food for themselves (glucose) using carbon dioxide, water and energy from the sun. Once this process is completed, plants are able to grow using the nutrients provided by photosynthesis. Word equation: carbon dioxide + water (SUNLIGHT AND CHLORYPHYLL) glucose + oxygen There are many factors that affect photosynthesis such as light availability, carbon dioxide concentration and temperature. Light is a limiting factor as if there is not enough light available, the rate of photosynthesis will decrease. This is because without the light, the chlorophyll (not be created) will be unable to absorb energy from the sun, resulting in no food which is required for survival. Temperature plays an essential role in photosynthesis as well. As the temperature increases, so does the rate of photosynthesis. As it is a chemical reaction, an increase in temperature will cause enzymes and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

About 450 million Indians live below the poverty line. Suppression of religious minorities and its nuclear blasts have made India visible to the world. One of the messages that India sent to the world was that it needs to be reckoned with. The Hindu nationalist leadership on the whole sent this message. While each country needs dignity before others, many ask why such a poverty ridden country should invest massive amounts in nuclear devices and why it persecutes a Christian religious minority that has made bold attempts to empower the poor of India.
