Iraq s Internal Struggle Of Iraq
Iraq s Internal Struggle With the current situation in Iraq, we must take a look into the country s
history. In 1920 Iraq started a rebellion against the British that lasted until 1932 when it declared its
independence. Iraq was governed by a monarchy until 1958, when a group of Iraqi military officers
staged a coup and overthrew the monarchy declaring Iraq a republic. Major General Abdul Karmel
Qasim took over as Iraqi prime minister, minister of defense, and commander and chief after the
successful coup. In 1963, yet another military coup occurred that would lead to the death of Major
General Abdul Karmel Qasim. Saddam Hussein became president of Iraq in 1978, at the end of this
coup. In 1990 Iraq invaded Kuwait; this sparked the start of the infamous first Gulf War. At the
beginning of 2003 Great Britain and the United States formed a strategic alliance to conduct a series
of bombing raids on Iraq to weaken and disable their Air Defense Network. After the bombing
campaign the coalition once again led a force into Iraq to liberate the country and end Dictator
Saddam Hussein s reign of tyranny. 2005 marked a momentous occasion for Voters as they approved a
new constitution. The new constitution turned Iraq an Islamic federal democracy. ( Iraq: History
Global Edge) The country held its inaugural election in 2005. After the United States withdrew its
troops in 2011, Iraq held its provincial elections on April 20, 2011. This was a milestone in the young

Advertising Appeal Of Sex Is Victoria s Secret
Every commercial appeals to something; whether its nature, guidance or even attention. People have
almost never notice this except when they are browsing through a magazine and notice a Calvin Klein
add. When a commercial is showing bras, panties, and underwear most of the time the company is
using the appeals to sex. This is completely obvious just by looking at Calvin Klein ads. Some
commercials sell products that look too sexual that it makes the general public uncomfortable. the ads
from Dolce Gabbana sometimes can come to people s mind. Most of these ads have been so
sexualized it makes family time awkward. Most common commercial that uses the appeal of sex is
Victoria s Secret.
Advertising appeals try to use people s emotions to attract a certain type of audience, whether it is
children, young adults, and sometimes even parent. Big companies try to lure people in be using the
general public s emotions to the company s advantage. Advertising comes up all the time from the
time a person wakes up to the time they go to sleep. Obviously the media has come up with good ideas
to pop up commercial into everyday life like the internet, television, billboards, and newspapers.
Many companies have found ways to sell their products these ways are called appeals. For example,
the appeal of achievement is used in companies like Adidas and Under Armour. Some other
companies try to sell escape like the companies that make 5 gum and York Peppermint Patty. there are
companies that

Ford Motor Company began a relentless drive to increase production and lower costs. Henry and his
team borrowed concepts from watch makers, gun makers, bicycle makers, and meat packers, mixed
them with their own ideas and by late 1913 they had developed a moving assembly line for

of identical items is progressively assembled. This idea has been in every automotive factory for many

Political Causes Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution was an inevitable uprising of the oppressed colonies in British North
America. After years of unnecessary taxation and overbearing laws from the royal crown, the colonist
began to show civil disobedience against their mother country. Both countries had tension left after the
French and Indian War. There was different views about who should pay for the war debts. The
revolutionary war was fought over the increased political, economic, and social control over the
colonies by England.
As a result of England being a major political power of this time period, they showed it in their ruling
of other colonies. When the colonies did not agree with them they taxed unnecessarily. They colonist
made political statements to show the tight control Britain was attempting would not work. Events
such as the Boston Tea Party, shown in Document 8, the colonist made a political statement against
the British by dumping their tea in the Boston Harbor. The document depicts the colonist and some
dressed as natives dumping the tea. This form of protesting led to the creation of rebel, political
groups, such as Sons of Liberty. Document 7 pictures the Proclamation Line of 1763. The political
aspect of this event is most important in understanding how the overbearing control of England led to
the revolution. Britain believe they had the right to control how far colonial America could expand.
King George III declared that the colonist could not move past the Appalachian

Electrochemical Gradient
#1) What is an electrochemical gradient, and why is it so important when discussing the movement of
ions across cell membranes? The establishment of electrochemical gradient is one of the driving forces
for ion movement across the cell membrane. Cells are usually negative and surrounded by positively
charged extracellular fluids. All transport processes across cells impact the chemical gradients. There
are two primary transport processes that affect electrical gradients, electroneutral carriers and
electrogenic carries. Electroneutral carries transport uncharged molecules or exchange an equal
number of particles with the same charge across the membrane, ultimately not changing the overall
elecrtochemical gradient. Electrogenic carriers result ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Explain this process and how it establishes the conditions for intestinal water absorption. The
esophagus is responsible for establishing the conditions of water take up as it goes through the
gastrointestinal tract. This is achieved by having low water permeability and high salt transport.
Because the esophagus absorbs ions all while not taking up the available water, it lowers the seawaters
osmotic pressure. This low salinity high water solution then travels to the intestines where it is able to
be absorbed due to the altered osmotic pressure of the seawater. #3) Explain the process by which fish
produce calcium carbonate precipitates. Why does calcium carbonate precipitation help intestinal
water absorption? After passing through the esophagus, which absorbs much of the salt ions in the
swallowed saltwater, and the gut the luminal fluid is isosmotic with the plasma. The intestines
continue to absorb salt (sodium through chloride co transport proteins and the chloride through the
sodium co transport proteins and anion exchange protinis) which is followed by an uptake of water.
More chloride is absorbed than sodium which creates an electrogradient in the cell (the cell being
more positive and the plasma more negative). The anion exchanger intakes chloride all while
excreting HCO3 into the intestinal lumen. The intestinal fluid is highly alkaline, high in HcO3 and
high in calcium (from the environment), this allows for CaCo3 to be precipitated in the

The United States History During The World History
It s very interesting to me when studying America history in the United States. When I lived in Viet
Nam, I studied American history in the World History Program in high school. However, this program
only focused on the history of America in the 20th century such as the Second Industrial Revolution,
the Great Depression, and the Cold War. We studied very in detail about the Cold War because this
event related to Viet Nam war. The Cold War was no large scale fighting directly between the United
States and Soviet Union. They are different in economy and politics which are communist and
capitalist.
When taking History 1301 course, I am really interested when I have an opportunity to exam
American history from pre Columbian to Civil War. I knew that the 13 colonies created a war to gain
freedom from the Great Britain. However, I do not know the reasons why they had to left England to
come to the New World, the United States. Now after reviewing Unit 1, I know they had to leave their
own country to come to the United Sates for god, gold, and government. For example, The Pilgrims,
who established Plymouth colony, fled to Holland in 1607to come to the New World to look for a
freedom in religion in the New World. Moreover, the origin of the first people who came to the
Americas is from Asia is a new idea to me. Based on the evidence of archeologists found in 1927, they
concluded that the first known natives from North Asia came to the America through a frozen patch of
land known as

Theseus In The Odyssey
Of all the Greek heroes, the greatest of all was the mighty and powerful Theseus. Theseus rose above
and beyond any other hero by using his intellect and not just superior strength. He refused to take the
easy path and instead took the path he felt was right. The myth of Theseus proves that intellect,
courage, and compassion can be superior to strength and brute force.
Theseus, unlike many of the Greek heroes, was not only the son of a god, but a mortal man as well.
Some versions of the myth claim that his dual paternity was caused by his mother having relations
with both Poseidon, god of the sea, and Aegeus, the king of Athens, in the same night. Other version
claim he was the son of either one or the other. Before Theseus was born, King Aegeus left a pair of
sandals and his sword in a hollow covered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not wanting him to perish in the labyrinth, Ariadne contacted Daedalus for a way out of the giant
maze. The solution was simple. All Theseus needed to do was attach a thread to the entrance of the
labyrinth and unwind it as he ventured farther inside. Ariadne offered one condition for the solution:
Theseus must take her back with him to Athens and make her his wife. He agreed and bravely went
forth to challenge the Minotaur using only his mind and raw strength. Theseus successfully defeated
the Minotaur and ended the tribute for good. He, Ariadne, and the rest of the tributes returned to the
ship on which they came to journey back to Athens. Ariadne never made it to Athens. In some
versions of the myth Theseus deserts her while in others she dies of sea sickness. For whatever reason,
she did not continue the journey and Theseus forgot to hoist up the white sail when entering Athens.
The king, seeing only the black sail and not knowing his son was indeed alive and well, threw himself
off the palace and into the sea grieving for

The Spy and The Bravo
Spy fiction is defined as a genre of literature that focuses on the activities of spies and the world of
espionage. The genre dates back to the mid to late 19th century. An early example of a spy novel is by
an American novelist James Fenimore Cooper; The spy (1821) and The Bravo (1831). Spy fiction
would mostly be influenced by events that have occurred in the real world such as, the Cold War,
which will be discussed in this essay and how it became to influence the writing of spy fiction and
how it built its popularity in the literature world. The Cold War emerged in 1946 due to the tension
between the western powers (USA, UK, Europe and Canada) and the Soviet Union, which included
the Russian communist. Shortly after the Second World War ended, the Soviet Union refused to
remove its forces in areas of Europe that they have taken over during the war. This caused the crisis of
the Cuban Missile Crisis and Berlin wall, being just some of the issue raised at that time. The Soviet
Union broke up in 1991. The most enduring motif about the Cold War is the storytelling about spies,
agent and assassins living a double life that included secrecy so they could infiltrate their enemies.
The US and USSR spent a large amount of time and money to train spies and agents during the Cold
War to deploy them around the world. The main purpose of espionage is to gather information from
their enemy and as their technology or gadgets were not advanced as it is now, they would send spies

21st Century Flood Reform Act Analysis
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the 21st Century Flood Reform Act and to provide a
recommendation on whether the Senate should vote for or against it. In order to provide an informed
recommendation, this paper will first present background information on the 21st Century Flood
Reform Act and explain what it proposes. Following the background information, this paper will
analyze arguments both in support and in opposition of the 21st Century Flood Reform Act. To
conclude, this paper will make a recommendation, based on the analysis, on how the Senate should
vote for the 21st Century Flood Reform Act.

However, these WYO insurance companies would also receive a reduction in reimbursements. These
proposed changes to the NFIP also present improvements to flood mapping practices and addresses
the issue of high risk properties, which owners rebuild at high costs following a flood (Simpson,
2017).
According to Jeb Hensarling, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, if the 21st
Century Flood Reform Act became law, taxpayers would directly benefit through the competition of
private companies to provide affordable flood insurance rates for homeowners. Republican Sean P.
Duffy, the sponsor of the bill, spoke on the House floor and reinforced Hensarling s statement. Duffy
claimed that introducing private companies would allow homeowners to select alternative flood
insurance plans that may be cheaper than any available federal plans. Additionally, Duffy stated that
private flood insurance companies would assist taxpayers in covering the costs resulting from a flood.
Duffy concluded by not only stating that the 21st Century Flood Reform Act is a bipartisan bill but
also reiterated its benefit to homeowners, and that it would directly contribute to reducing the national
debt. The bill has also received support from the American Academy of Actuaries Casualty Practice
Council, as well as from environmental groups, under the condition that it would undergo additional
reforms in the Senate, such as to address flood mitigation and the financial

Pangea Research Paper
As the tsunamis surging like hurricanes, volcanoes bursting into the sky, mountains crumbling into
pieces, the destruction of super continent had begun. I wanted to go to the center of pangea. When I
arrived there were scary dinosaurs and other unnatural animals. I ran away as fast as I could, because
there animals were dangerous. Fortunately, I found a place to hide in. The weather was very windy
and I was barely able to breathe due to the oxygen. It was a terrible and at the same time an intriguing
experience, but I tried my best to survive.
I was there during the late Paleozoic. During the time period, insects such as beetles and dragonflies
flourished. But pangea overlapped with the worst mass extinction in history. Pangea made most
species go extinct. The earth is a dynamic or constantly changing planet. Plates slide slowly on the
mantle s upper layer, which is caused when the mantle s convection currents slowly turning over and

Possible Treatment For A Nine- Year Old Boy Mike
In this paper, I would like to discuss a possible treatment for a nine year old boy Mike approaching it
from two different psychoanalytical theoretical perspectives, Freudian and Winicottian. According to
the case history, Mike s parents were second generation Hispanic Americans. As a nine year old, Mike
s development is still ongoing and his parents or any adult significant people in his life are still the
primary coauthors of his maturation, and eventually, his treatment.
The cultural transition and possibly the change in socioeconomic status had been ongoing for the
parents. These transitions could have been factors in the degradation of their relationship as husband
and wife. The parents marital circumstances that were on the verge ... Show more content on

Winnicott s, on the other hand, will approach Mike s problems in relation to the individual s
experience and response to society or its environment, as well as his characteristics in the light of the
primary and secondary processes as complementary, rather than as being in opposition. Winnicott s
theoretical elusiveness has been linked to his efforts to modify Freudian and Kleinian views on the
instincts and the harsh realities they had found in infant life. Instead, Winnicott studies the progress of
the development of relationships themselves, observing how the individual becomes an individual,
and assessing how infants environment affects the authentic self. Mike s mother probably did not
notice how much he was struggling because of the distraction of her own problems presented. It
appears that Mike had developed a false self , a self Winnicott describes as a defense that a child
develops to protect the true self . It revealed itself through compliance and rigidity as a way of coping
with the world but prevented his emotional growth (Winnicott, 1963).
Although other psychoanalysts may have a different view of Winnicott s theory of the true and false
self, it may criticize that the theory may have been over influenced by his own childhood experience
of caring for a depressed mother, and himself developing a prematurely mature self which he was only

George does everything in his power to save Bluebell by using southern charm and hospitality.
Southern hospitality is a phrase used to describe the stereotype of people from the Southern United
States. They are particularly sweet, warm, and welcoming to visitors, or to the South in general. In
Hart of Dixie, George is a small town lawyer who everyone sees as warm, hospitable person. When
people think of the South they associate it with the antebellum period. Alexis Girardin Brown writes
that gender and racial hierarchy served to socialize both men and women into their appropriate spheres
(Brown 759). She says, Men operated in a public sphere, where they provided for their families and
property and carried on business (Brown 759). George is a family lawyer who takes care of the
businesses in Bluebell. He spends most of his time dealing with the people of Bluebell. Lonny Balbi
writes that dealing with people makes you a better Attorney. He states, Some people estimate that
family attorneys spend 90% of their time dealing with people and 10% of the law (Balbi 176). He
believes that most of the work Lawyers do is working with clients in the areas of relationships,
conflict, and parenting. In Hart of Dixie, that is what George does. When he is working with the
people of Bluebell he cares for them as a person and their problems. He is very warm and friendly. His
Southern hospitality shines through when he works with people. He comes together with the people of
Bluebell to plan to block a huge chain store from building near Bluebell. Together George and the
town of Bluebell use their Southern charm and hospitality to block the chain stores from building near
Bluebell. They only problem George has is that he gets too personal. He lets emotions get in the way
of his life. Lonny Balbi states that to be

The Tell-Tale Heart Crazy
Tell me, would you kill a person because his eye happened to annoy you? In Edgar Allen Poe s story,
The Tell Tale Heart, that is precisely what the narrator does. He is insane, and he is not to be trusted
with the information he is presenting based on things he does or hears. I heard all things in the heaven
and in the earth. I heard many things in hell (1). This evidence proves my claim that the narrator is
mad, and because he is mad, the things he tells us, are just things that he is envisioning. In this quote
the narrator says he hears things from hell. Which is not possible. He thinks that he is hearing things
from hell, but in reality, all the sounds are in his head. He is imagining sounds from hell something
sane people do not do. Some more evidence is, My head ached, and I fancied a ... Show more content

He had the eye of a vulture a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood
ran cold; and so by degrees very gradually I made up my mind to take the life of the old man (2). This
citation shows the narrator wanting to kill the old man. Killing a person does not convey that he is
insane and that his story is not to be believed. What does show that he is mad, is the reason for killing
the old man. His cause for committing murder is that the man s eye was bothering him. This is
definitely not what a sane person kills someone over. The last piece of evidence I will present is, I
foamed I raved I swore! I swung the chair upon which I had been sitting, and grated it upon the
boards, but the noise arose over all and continually increased. It grew louder louder louder! (17). He is
hearing it extremely loud in his ears now. This can only mean one thing he is mad. The narrator is
yelling and swearing when he can just ask the officers if they hear something. Either way, they would
say no, because he is visualizing the sound in his

The Great Recession in the year 2008
Recession 16Specifically, Freund (2009) defines global downturns as years when world real GDP
growth is (1) below 2 percent, (2) more than 1.5 percentage points below the previous five year
average, and (3) at its minimum relative to the previous two years and the following two years. 1975,
1982, 1991, 2001, and 2008 Freund (2009) describes the evolution of world trade following four
previous global downturns. She finds that the size of the decline in world trade during these episodes
is almost five times the corresponding decline in world GDP. She also finds that, while world trade
growth resumes quickly following a global downturn, it takes more than three years for trade to reach
predownturn levels. Referance Freund, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later the same day, the Bank of America announced that it would be purchasing Merrill Lynch. Due to
the above factors, there was major instability on the global stock markets with major decreases in
market value between the 15th and 17th of September 2008. On the 16th September, the American
International Group (AIG), which suffered due to its credit rating being reduced, was helped by the
Federal Reserve which created an $85 billion credit facility to stop it from collapse. Over the next two
weeks, more banks failed and the two remaining banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley converted
into bank holding companies so that they had more access to market liquidity. Numerous plans were
put forward with intent to solve the crisis and in the end President George W. Bush and the Secretary
of the Treasury announced a $700 billion financial aid package intented to limit the damage that the
previous few week s events caused. The plan was received well by investors on Wall Street and
around the world. Read on On 28th September it was announced that Fortis, a large banking and

Weaknesses of Incremental Risk Charge Model Under BCBS s approval, banks are expected to
improve their own IRC models to calculate risks for individual positions or sets of positions (BCBS,
2009b). It means the Committee hopes banks will have their own choice of liquidity horizon which is
appropriate with their business without any issued industry benchmarks or standards (Stretton, 2011).
However, it leads to inconsistence within banking system. Furthermore, supervisors have to face with
more difficulties in process of evaluating banks IRC model. Although IRC helps bank to capture risks
more effectively, especially when market and credit risks collide, there is a significant weakness still
be existing. It is the overlap of counterparty credit risk cooperated with over the counters (OTC) and
repo style transactions between IRC and CVA (Stretton, 2011). As a consequence, it will lead to
duplicate capital charge for the banks. Suggested by Linsz (2010) the corporate Treasurer of Bank of
America, the Committee should apply an integrated approach to combine the overlapping risks by
deleting the risk above in IRC model, hence build up more accurate capital charge for banks. In fact,
Bank of America thinks duplicated capital charge is inappropriate with risk management practices
(Linsz, 2010). 3. Effectiveness of Incremental Risk Charge Model According to BCBS (2009b), IRC
model mainly compounds two types of risks: default risk and credit migration risk. The origin

Shadowing A Person In My Dream Job
To become an owner of an accounting firm in New York has been a dream of mine since I can
remember. Having the opportunity to shadow a person in my dream job I would have to make sure I
had been well prepared for this experience. Before starting anything I would call and double check on
the time in which I needed to arrive along with the date when it would be taking place. Starting on the
preparations I would research the company and inform myself on the important facts. I would follow
up with the assistant as well as make a list of questions I would like to ask when there. I would ask
about the kind of clothing that should be worn during the time I would be shadowing as well as any
other requirements they might need from me that day. Once

Racism In English Football
The idea of racism in English Football, particularly the Premier League, is nowhere near as old as
racism in England or the rest of the United Kingdom for that matter. However, the Premier League is
often times considered the world s best league when it comes to football and draws the best talent
from around the world. In the recent years, the league has seen a sizeable influx of players from
outside Britain and Ireland, which shows a reflection of an increasingly commercialized game with a
global reach. These incredible players are put on center stage week in and week out throughout
England on the biggest public arenas and draw millions of faithful supporters to their home club s
stadium. However, even with an increase in the number of foreign born players, racism is still very
prevalent in the ever growing sport. The reality is that football represents one of the tapestries onto
which social achievements and problems, claims and counterclaims are ritually etched. The growing
awareness of how racism is connected to football functions through a complicated framework which
reveals it as a problem which is very much out there in wider society today. Racism does touch the
game of football, its players, officials, and their millions of supporters and reinforces the notion that
racism is still very ubiquitous in an England that is often times considered diverse and accepting. In
England, the phenomenon of racism in football first became a subject of widespread concern in

National Security in Foreign Policy
Foreign policy definition: a set of political goals that aims to outline how a particular state will interact
with others
Beach (2012): Foreign policy actions can be undertaken using a variety of different instruments,
ranging from adopting declarations, making speeches, negotiating treaties, giving other states
economic aid, engaging in diplomatic activity such as summits, and the use of military force
No matter which instruments are used, the primary objective of states in outlining their foreign
policies is to maximise their national security.
States can go about maximising national security through different means such as by military force,
economic prosperity and/or the general welfare of its people.
Difficult to analyse to what extent national security is a primary objective of states theories of IR will
help explain states motives and how they go about maximising state security, if it is their prime
objective at all.
This essay will analyse the concept of national security through realism (focused on military power),
liberalism (focused on cooperation through liberal internationalism) and constructivism (focused on
wider definitions of security, such as health and the environment).
A. Realism
1. Core principles of realist view of national security
For realists, the concept of national security is an effective balancing of external threats.

How To Write An Argumentative Essay On African American...
American Dream Argumentative Draft
Everyone thinks it s so easy and cool to join Armed Forces, but to be honest, half of them don t even
know what the effects would be when they join and after they leave the military. People usually take
our veterans for granted and they don t acknowledge what veterans have done for us and our country.
Veterans should be shown respect when they come back home, but they don t and to me that s just
disrespectful and it also shows how out of line citizens are. Everyone who has fought for their country,
chose to fight, they never had to, but because they seen that people needed to be protected, they put
their lives on the line. The least we could do is say Thank you! but no, they don t even get that and
that s really messed up. They took a bullet for this country, they lost their lives for this country, they
have nightmares every night because of things they had to see while defending this country. What do
we do to show them our appreciation though? Nothing. As a result, most veterans don t feel a sense of
belonging and loyalty to their country.
Many African American veterans salute and pledge an oath of loyalty to their country, but even after
they have protected it, they don t get protection back in return. All the black soldiers who have came
back or have been killed while in the frontline, either don t get remembered, get disrespected, or get
killed when they come back from serving. After all

Anger Manifestation Psychology
The American Psychology Association defines anger as an emotion characterized by antagonism
toward someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong. Anger can also be a good
thing. It can give you a way to express negative feelings or motivate you to find solutions to problems.
Conversely, brain damage in specific areas may cause anger manifestation to be different as certain
parts of the brain are responsible for specific functions.
The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is responsible for cognitive processes. It is a region in the frontal
lobes toward the top and side. Meaning that it is responsible for executive functions. The DLPFC aids
in decision making. It is also important in decision making. The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex ... Show

Moreover, the amygdala is structure within the medial temporal lobes of the brain (Kolb Wishaw). It is
part of the limbic system and is responsible for emotions and aggression. Furthermore, the amygdala
functions to control the fear responses. The Amygdala is linked to the formation and retention of
emotional event memories.
The aforementioned anger is identified as a strong negative emotion can be further understood through
the James Lange Theory of Emotion. This theory was developed by William James and Carl Jange

experience of emotion. The theory suggests that the physiological change is primary and the emotion
is then experienced when the brain reacts to the information received (Kolb Wilshaw). When people

Cost of Living
Measuring the Cost of Living
Overview:
Last time we discussed the most important measure of economic well being real, per capita GDP.
Further, if we want to see how our economic well being is changing over time, we can calculate how
real GDP is changing in percentage terms (for example, real GDP grew 4% last quarter).
Now, we turn our attention to another important measure of the economy.
We want to measure how the cost of living changes over time.
The main intuition here is that, over time, peoples incomes and the prices of goods and services
increase. 30 years ago an ice cream sundae cost $1 and a typical economics professor earned $35,000.
Now, a (bad) ice cream sundae costs $4.50 and a typical economics professor ... Show more content

We have to figure out what a typical consumer buys. Imagine a shopping cart you fill it up with items
that a typical consumer will purchase.
Step 2: Find the prices:
Now that we have our basket, we can track prices on the items in the cart and see how much it all
costs.
Step 3: Compute the cost of the basket:
Let s determine the cost of the basket from year to year
Step 4: Choose a base year, and compute the index:
Pick a year to serve as a benchmark a comparison basket cost for all other years. We then can use the
cost in benchmark year (called a base year ) relative to the cost of the cart in the year we are interested
in to calculate a cost if living index.
Step 5: Compute the inflation rate:
This is easy: just calculate how the index changes from year to year in percentage terms.
To see these steps in action, consider the following example (from the textbook):
Step 1: Fix the basket:
Well, suppose that what we see consumers typically buying are 4 hot dogs and 2 hamburgers that is
what is in their shopping cart...
Step 2: Find the price of each good in each year:
This is just observing prices every year...
Year: Price of hot dogs: Price of hamburgers:
2001 $1 $2
2002: $2 $3
2003: $3 $4
Step 3: Compute the cost of the basket in each year:
Let s see how much the stuff in the cart costs from year to year...

Ghost Military Mission Command
Part Three
Mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using mission orders to
enable disciplined initiative within the commander s intent to empower agile and adaptive leaders in
the conduct of unified land operations (ADRP 6 0) What does a commander do when all
communications with higher command is severed? Combatant commanders cannot cease to operate
simply because communications are interrupted. In Ghost Fleet, the Chinese completely disrupt all
communications for the American fleet. In beginning of the novel, this cripples the fleet. Lack of
orders paralyzes the much needed response to the invasion and attacks. The breakdown of
communications cannot stop the fight. Mission command outlines how mission orders set the
battlefield for success. Disciplined initiative to continue the mission based on a clear understanding of
the commander s intent. In the situation presented in the novel, we are given two examples of this.
When the attack at Pearl Harbor begins, most commanders of the fleet freeze with indecision when
communications cease. This indecision cost countless lives as the torpedoes strike the unmoving ships.
In dichotomy, the USS Coronado sees the attack and acts immediately. They are the only ... Show

The Federal Budget Process Essay
Running head: The Federal Budget Process The Federal Budget Process Abstract This report focuses
on the federal budget process of the United States of America. The annual federal budget begins with a
detailed proposal from the President in February. The budget request is developed by the President s
Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Next, Congress creates a blueprint called a budget
resolution that sets limits on how much each committee can spend (or reduce revenues) over the
course of the year. The terms of the budget resolution are then enforced against individual
appropriations, entitlement bills, and tax bills on the House and Senate floors. In addition, Congress
sometimes uses a special procedure called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, the president uses the budget request to lay out his relative priorities for federal programs
(Myers, et al, 1989; Policy Basics, 2011). The President s budget is very specific, and recommends
funding levels for individual federal programs or small groups of programs called budget accounts.
The budget typically sketches out fiscal policy and budget priorities not only for the year but for the
next five years or more. It is also accompanied by historical tables that set our past budget figures
(Policy Basics, 2011 Para 4). The third role that the President s budget plays is that it can be used to
alert Congress of what spending and tax policy changes the President recommends. It is not necessary
for the President to propose legislative changes for those parts of the budget that are governed by
permanent law if he feels none are needed (Policy Basics, 2011). Majority of the federal tax code is set
in permanent law, and will not expire. Similarly, more than one half of federal spending including the
three largest entitlement programs (Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security) is also permanently
enacted. Interest paid on the national debt is also paid automatically, with no need for specific
legislation. (There is, however, a

Everyman Morality
Everyman is a medieval morality play that depicts the events preceding the death and ascension into
heaven of an individual named Everyman , in allegorical fashion. Ambling along a road, Everyman is
approached unexpectedly by Death who comes to fulfill the wishes of God and bring Everyman to
eternal judgment. Everyman then proceeds to implore Death for more time on Earth, but is only
effective in gaining permission to get his affairs in order. After unsuccessfully pleading with his Good
deeds to accompany him to the presence of God, Everyman arrives at the realization with the aid of
Knowledge that he must confess his sins and ask God for forgiveness to be accepted into heaven.

When Everyman meets with Death while walking on the road, Death introduces himself by stating, I
am Death, that no man dreadeth (does not discriminate). For every man I rest (arrest) and no man
spareth. For it is God s commandment that all to me should be obedient. This is indeed true, as all,
regardless of title or economic status, will one day meet death and face the Eternal Judge, God.
Furthermore, Everyman teaches that one must prepare for death. When Everyman is made aware of
Death s purpose towards him, he states, O Death, thou comest when I had thee least in mind. Clearly,
Everyman was not prepared Death states in the beginning of the work: Lo, yonder I see Everyman
walking: full little he thinketh on my coming. For those who are not prepared when death does come,
the eternal consequences are severe. Third, Everyman teaches that salvation is gained by good works,
which when compared to what the Word of God states, is a fallacy. When allowed by Death to get his
affairs in order, Everyman first goes to his Good deeds to help him, but she cannot because she is
weighed down by his sins. After Everyman confesses his sins and repents, his Good deeds accompany
him to heaven, and Knowledge states, The Good deeds shall make all sure. Biblically, this is incorrect

My Life At The Hotel Room
One day in summer of 2015, my family and I went on a little vacation to Dallas,Texas. My mom and

They are responsible, They will be fine, let them go, all the adults said but maybe They were so

Obtaining The American Dream In The Great Gatsby Analysis
Obtaining the American Dream
The American Dream is the idea of having an equal opportunity of achieving prosperity and happiness
through hard work and determination. The idea of the American dream is the main focus of novel The
Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby is about the narrator Nick Carraway who
tells the story of Jay Gatsby, a wealthy self made man who is in love with Daisy Buchanan. However,
Daisy is married to Tom Buchanan who is also a rich man but from inheritance. The colors red white
and blue appear often in the book, each color has its own meaning in relationship to the American
Dream . Red signifies passion, violence, and power. Blue represents hope, and White represents class
and high stature. F.Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby uses extensive description of the colors
red, white and, blue to illustrate certain parts of the American Dream are fake.
The color red symbolizes violence, passion, and power in the American Dream. Nick is invited to the
Buchanans house to visit for the first time. Tom is a man who did not have to work for his money and
instead inherited it.The first impression the reader gets about the Buchanan house is, The lawn started
at the beach and ran toward the front door for a quarter of a mile, jumping over sun dials and brick
walks and burning gardens (6). The Buchanan s garden reflects the character of the house owners, in
this case, Tom. From the outside, it appears that Tom has already achieved the American Dream at a
young age and now he does not have to worry about money. However Tom s character is very
controlling and powerful, and he is not happy with the situation he is in. The burning gardens gives
the reader an image of fire and heat, which reflects Tom s passion and power. Another example that
shows Tom s passion and violence is when Tom takes Nick to see his mistress Myrtle. When Tom and
Myrtle get in a fight because Myrtle repeats Daisy s name in Tom s face Fitzgerald writes, Making a
short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand. Then there were bloody
towels upon the bathroom floor, and women s voices scolding, and high over the confusion a long

  • 2. Iraq s Internal Struggle Of Iraq Iraq s Internal Struggle With the current situation in Iraq, we must take a look into the country s history. In 1920 Iraq started a rebellion against the British that lasted until 1932 when it declared its independence. Iraq was governed by a monarchy until 1958, when a group of Iraqi military officers staged a coup and overthrew the monarchy declaring Iraq a republic. Major General Abdul Karmel Qasim took over as Iraqi prime minister, minister of defense, and commander and chief after the successful coup. In 1963, yet another military coup occurred that would lead to the death of Major General Abdul Karmel Qasim. Saddam Hussein became president of Iraq in 1978, at the end of this coup. In 1990 Iraq invaded Kuwait; this sparked the start of the infamous first Gulf War. At the beginning of 2003 Great Britain and the United States formed a strategic alliance to conduct a series of bombing raids on Iraq to weaken and disable their Air Defense Network. After the bombing campaign the coalition once again led a force into Iraq to liberate the country and end Dictator Saddam Hussein s reign of tyranny. 2005 marked a momentous occasion for Voters as they approved a new constitution. The new constitution turned Iraq an Islamic federal democracy. ( Iraq: History Global Edge) The country held its inaugural election in 2005. After the United States withdrew its troops in 2011, Iraq held its provincial elections on April 20, 2011. This was a milestone in the young country s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Political Causes Of The American Revolution The American Revolution was an inevitable uprising of the oppressed colonies in British North America. After years of unnecessary taxation and overbearing laws from the royal crown, the colonist began to show civil disobedience against their mother country. Both countries had tension left after the French and Indian War. There was different views about who should pay for the war debts. The revolutionary war was fought over the increased political, economic, and social control over the colonies by England. As a result of England being a major political power of this time period, they showed it in their ruling of other colonies. When the colonies did not agree with them they taxed unnecessarily. They colonist made political statements to show the tight control Britain was attempting would not work. Events such as the Boston Tea Party, shown in Document 8, the colonist made a political statement against the British by dumping their tea in the Boston Harbor. The document depicts the colonist and some dressed as natives dumping the tea. This form of protesting led to the creation of rebel, political groups, such as Sons of Liberty. Document 7 pictures the Proclamation Line of 1763. The political aspect of this event is most important in understanding how the overbearing control of England led to the revolution. Britain believe they had the right to control how far colonial America could expand. King George III declared that the colonist could not move past the Appalachian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Electrochemical Gradient #1) What is an electrochemical gradient, and why is it so important when discussing the movement of ions across cell membranes? The establishment of electrochemical gradient is one of the driving forces for ion movement across the cell membrane. Cells are usually negative and surrounded by positively charged extracellular fluids. All transport processes across cells impact the chemical gradients. There are two primary transport processes that affect electrical gradients, electroneutral carriers and electrogenic carries. Electroneutral carries transport uncharged molecules or exchange an equal number of particles with the same charge across the membrane, ultimately not changing the overall elecrtochemical gradient. Electrogenic carriers result ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Explain this process and how it establishes the conditions for intestinal water absorption. The esophagus is responsible for establishing the conditions of water take up as it goes through the gastrointestinal tract. This is achieved by having low water permeability and high salt transport. Because the esophagus absorbs ions all while not taking up the available water, it lowers the seawaters osmotic pressure. This low salinity high water solution then travels to the intestines where it is able to be absorbed due to the altered osmotic pressure of the seawater. #3) Explain the process by which fish produce calcium carbonate precipitates. Why does calcium carbonate precipitation help intestinal water absorption? After passing through the esophagus, which absorbs much of the salt ions in the swallowed saltwater, and the gut the luminal fluid is isosmotic with the plasma. The intestines continue to absorb salt (sodium through chloride co transport proteins and the chloride through the sodium co transport proteins and anion exchange protinis) which is followed by an uptake of water. More chloride is absorbed than sodium which creates an electrogradient in the cell (the cell being more positive and the plasma more negative). The anion exchanger intakes chloride all while excreting HCO3 into the intestinal lumen. The intestinal fluid is highly alkaline, high in HcO3 and high in calcium (from the environment), this allows for CaCo3 to be precipitated in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The United States History During The World History It s very interesting to me when studying America history in the United States. When I lived in Viet Nam, I studied American history in the World History Program in high school. However, this program only focused on the history of America in the 20th century such as the Second Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, and the Cold War. We studied very in detail about the Cold War because this event related to Viet Nam war. The Cold War was no large scale fighting directly between the United States and Soviet Union. They are different in economy and politics which are communist and capitalist. When taking History 1301 course, I am really interested when I have an opportunity to exam American history from pre Columbian to Civil War. I knew that the 13 colonies created a war to gain freedom from the Great Britain. However, I do not know the reasons why they had to left England to come to the New World, the United States. Now after reviewing Unit 1, I know they had to leave their own country to come to the United Sates for god, gold, and government. For example, The Pilgrims, who established Plymouth colony, fled to Holland in 1607to come to the New World to look for a freedom in religion in the New World. Moreover, the origin of the first people who came to the Americas is from Asia is a new idea to me. Based on the evidence of archeologists found in 1927, they concluded that the first known natives from North Asia came to the America through a frozen patch of land known as ... • 9. Theseus In The Odyssey Of all the Greek heroes, the greatest of all was the mighty and powerful Theseus. Theseus rose above and beyond any other hero by using his intellect and not just superior strength. He refused to take the easy path and instead took the path he felt was right. The myth of Theseus proves that intellect, courage, and compassion can be superior to strength and brute force. Theseus, unlike many of the Greek heroes, was not only the son of a god, but a mortal man as well. Some versions of the myth claim that his dual paternity was caused by his mother having relations with both Poseidon, god of the sea, and Aegeus, the king of Athens, in the same night. Other version claim he was the son of either one or the other. Before Theseus was born, King Aegeus left a pair of sandals and his sword in a hollow covered ... All Theseus needed to do was attach a thread to the entrance of the labyrinth and unwind it as he ventured farther inside. Ariadne offered one condition for the solution: Theseus must take her back with him to Athens and make her his wife. He agreed and bravely went forth to challenge the Minotaur using only his mind and raw strength. Theseus successfully defeated the Minotaur and ended the tribute for good. He, Ariadne, and the rest of the tributes returned to the ship on which they came to journey back to Athens. Ariadne never made it to Athens. In some versions of the myth Theseus deserts her while in others she dies of sea sickness. • 11. The Spy and The Bravo Spy fiction is defined as a genre of literature that focuses on the activities of spies and the world of espionage. The genre dates back to the mid to late 19th century. An early example of a spy novel is by an American novelist James Fenimore Cooper; The spy (1821) and The Bravo (1831). Spy fiction would mostly be influenced by events that have occurred in the real world such as, the Cold War, which will be discussed in this essay and how it became to influence the writing of spy fiction and how it built its popularity in the literature world. The Cold War emerged in 1946 due to the tension between the western powers (USA, UK, Europe and Canada) and the Soviet Union, which included the Russian communist. Shortly after the Second World War ended, the Soviet Union refused to remove its forces in areas of Europe that they have taken over during the war. This caused the crisis of the Cuban Missile Crisis and Berlin wall, being just some of the issue raised at that time. The Soviet Union broke up in 1991. The most enduring motif about the Cold War is the storytelling about spies, agent and assassins living a double life that included secrecy so they could infiltrate their enemies. The US and USSR spent a large amount of time and money to train spies and agents during the Cold War to deploy them around the world. The main purpose of espionage is to gather information from their enemy and as their technology or gadgets were not advanced as it is now, they would send spies to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, these WYO insurance companies would also receive a reduction in reimbursements. These proposed changes to the NFIP also present improvements to flood mapping practices and addresses the issue of high risk properties, which owners rebuild at high costs following a flood (Simpson, 2017). According to Jeb Hensarling, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, if the 21st Century Flood Reform Act became law, taxpayers would directly benefit through the competition of private companies to provide affordable flood insurance rates for homeowners. Republican Sean P. Duffy, the sponsor of the bill, spoke on the House floor and reinforced Hensarling s statement. Duffy claimed that introducing private companies would allow homeowners to select alternative flood insurance plans that may be cheaper than any available federal plans. Additionally, Duffy stated that private flood insurance companies would assist taxpayers in covering the costs resulting from a flood. Duffy concluded by not only stating that the 21st Century Flood Reform Act is a bipartisan bill but also reiterated its benefit to homeowners, and that it would directly contribute to reducing the national debt. The bill has also received support from the American Academy of Actuaries Casualty Practice Council, as well as from environmental groups, under the condition that it would undergo additional reforms in the Senate, such as to address flood mitigation and the financial ... I wanted to go to the center of pangea. When I arrived there were scary dinosaurs and other unnatural animals. I ran away as fast as I could, because there animals were dangerous. Fortunately, I found a place to hide in. The weather was very windy and I was barely able to breathe due to the oxygen. Possible Treatment For A Nine- Year Old Boy Mike In this paper, I would like to discuss a possible treatment for a nine year old boy Mike approaching it from two different psychoanalytical theoretical perspectives, Freudian and Winicottian. According to the case history, Mike s parents were second generation Hispanic Americans. As a nine year old, Mike s development is still ongoing and his parents or any adult significant people in his life are still the primary coauthors of his maturation, and eventually, his treatment. The cultural transition and possibly the change in socioeconomic status had been ongoing for the parents. These transitions could have been factors in the degradation of their relationship as husband and wife. The parents marital circumstances that were on the verge ... Winnicott s, on the other hand, will approach Mike s problems in relation to the individual s experience and response to society or its environment, as well as his characteristics in the light of the primary and secondary processes as complementary, rather than as being in opposition. Winnicott s theoretical elusiveness has been linked to his efforts to modify Freudian and Kleinian views on the instincts and the harsh realities they had found in infant life. Instead, Winnicott studies the progress of the development of relationships themselves, observing how the individual becomes an individual, and assessing how infants environment affects the authentic self. Mike s mother probably did not notice how much he was struggling because of the distraction of her own problems presented. It appears that Mike had developed a false self , a self Winnicott describes as a defense that a child develops to protect the true self . It revealed itself through compliance and rigidity as a way of coping with the world but prevented his emotional growth (Winnicott, 1963). Although other psychoanalysts may have a different view of Winnicott s theory of the true and false self, it may criticize that the theory may have been over influenced by his own childhood experience of caring for a depressed mother, and himself developing a prematurely mature self which he was only ... Southern hospitality is a phrase used to describe the stereotype of people from the Southern United States. They are particularly sweet, warm, and welcoming to visitors, or to the South in general. In Hart of Dixie, George is a small town lawyer who everyone sees as warm, hospitable person. When people think of the South they associate it with the antebellum period. Alexis Girardin Brown writes that gender and racial hierarchy served to socialize both men and women into their appropriate spheres (Brown 759). She says, Men operated in a public sphere, where they provided for their families and property and carried on business (Brown 759). George is a family lawyer who takes care of the businesses in Bluebell. He spends most of his time dealing with the people of Bluebell. Lonny Balbi writes that dealing with people makes you a better Attorney. He believes that most of the work Lawyers do is working with clients in the areas of relationships, conflict, and parenting. In Hart of Dixie, that is what George does. What does show that he is mad, is the reason for killing the old man. His cause for committing murder is that the man s eye was bothering him. This is definitely not what a sane person kills someone over. The last piece of evidence I will present is, I foamed I raved I swore! Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Weaknesses of Incremental Risk Charge Model Under BCBS s approval, banks are expected to improve their own IRC models to calculate risks for individual positions or sets of positions (BCBS, 2009b). It means the Committee hopes banks will have their own choice of liquidity horizon which is appropriate with their business without any issued industry benchmarks or standards (Stretton, 2011). However, it leads to inconsistence within banking system. Furthermore, supervisors have to face with more difficulties in process of evaluating banks IRC model. Although IRC helps bank to capture risks more effectively, especially when market and credit risks collide, there is a significant weakness still be existing. It is the overlap of counterparty credit risk cooperated with over the counters (OTC) and repo style transactions between IRC and CVA (Stretton, 2011). As a consequence, it will lead to duplicate capital charge for the banks. Suggested by Linsz (2010) the corporate Treasurer of Bank of America, the Committee should apply an integrated approach to combine the overlapping risks by deleting the risk above in IRC model, hence build up more accurate capital charge for banks. In fact, Bank of America thinks duplicated capital charge is inappropriate with risk management practices (Linsz, 2010). 3. The growing awareness of how racism is connected to football functions through a complicated framework which reveals it as a problem which is very much out there in wider society today. The budget typically sketches out fiscal policy and budget priorities not only for the year but for the next five years or more. It is also accompanied by historical tables that set our past budget figures (Policy Basics, 2011 Para 4). The third role that the President s budget plays is that it can be used to alert Congress of what spending and tax policy changes the President recommends. It is not necessary for the President to propose legislative changes for those parts of the budget that are governed by permanent law if he feels none are needed (Policy Basics, 2011). Majority of the federal tax code is set in permanent law, and will not expire. Similarly, more than one half of federal spending including the three largest entitlement programs (Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security) is also permanently enacted. Interest paid on the national debt is also paid automatically, with no need for specific legislation. (There is, however, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Everyman Morality Everyman is a medieval morality play that depicts the events preceding the death and ascension into heaven of an individual named Everyman , in allegorical fashion. Ambling along a road, Everyman is approached unexpectedly by Death who comes to fulfill the wishes of God and bring Everyman to eternal judgment. Everyman then proceeds to implore Death for more time on Earth, but is only effective in gaining permission to get his affairs in order. After unsuccessfully pleading with his Good deeds to accompany him to the presence of God, Everyman arrives at the realization with the aid of Knowledge that he must confess his sins and ask God for forgiveness to be accepted into heaven. Everyman, as a work, teaches the reader that death is inevitable, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Everyman meets with Death while walking on the road, Death introduces himself by stating, I am Death, that no man dreadeth (does not discriminate). For every man I rest (arrest) and no man spareth. For it is God s commandment that all to me should be obedient. This is indeed true, as all, regardless of title or economic status, will one day meet death and face the Eternal Judge, God. Furthermore, Everyman teaches that one must prepare for death. When Everyman is made aware of Death s purpose towards him, he states, O Death, thou comest when I had thee least in mind. Clearly, Everyman was not prepared Death states in the beginning of the work: Lo, yonder I see Everyman walking: full little he thinketh on my coming. For those who are not prepared when death does come, the eternal consequences are severe. Third, Everyman teaches that salvation is gained by good works, which when compared to what the Word of God states, is a fallacy. When allowed by Death to get his affairs in order, Everyman first goes to his Good deeds to help him, but she cannot because she is weighed down by his sins. After Everyman confesses his sins and repents, his Good deeds accompany him to heaven, and Knowledge states, The Good deeds shall make all sure. Biblically, this is incorrect as Romans 10:9 declares, If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Statistical Analysis On Pre-Eclampsia Statistical analysis Statistical analysis was carried out using the software program Anova one way unstacked. Quantitative data were presented as mean and standard deviation. Pearson correlation for measuring covariance of two variables divided by the product of their standard deviations measures the strength of a linear association between two variables and is denoted by r. The Receiver Operator Characteristic (ROC) curve was used for prediction of pre eclampsia using sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and the predictive values (positive and negative). Sensitivity: probability that the test results will be positive when the disease is present (true positive rate, expressed as a percentage); Specificity: Probability that the test results will be negative when the disease is present (true negative rate, expressed as a percentage); Positive Predictive value (PPV: probability that the disease is present when the test is positive); Negative Predictive value (NPV: probability that the disease is present when the test is negative) and accuracy is the ratio of the true positive and true negative on all patients. Result was considered significant at a P value of 400ml/24hrs). Oliguria was found in 25% of severe preeclampsia cases as shown in Table (1). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby is about the narrator Nick Carraway who tells the story of Jay Gatsby, a wealthy self made man who is in love with Daisy Buchanan. The color red symbolizes violence, passion, and power in the American Dream. Nick is invited to the Buchanans house to visit for the first time. Tom is a man who did not have to work for his money and instead inherited it.The first impression the reader gets about the Buchanan house is, The lawn started at the beach and ran toward the front door for a quarter of a mile, jumping over sun dials and brick walks and burning gardens (6). The Buchanan s garden reflects the character of the house owners, in this case, Tom. From the outside, it appears that Tom has already achieved the American Dream at a young age and now he does not have to worry about money. However Tom s character is very controlling and powerful, and he is not happy with the situation he is in. The burning gardens gives the reader an image of fire and heat, which reflects Tom s passion and power. Another example that shows Tom s passion and violence is when Tom takes Nick to see his mistress Myrtle. When Tom and Myrtle get in a fight because Myrtle repeats Daisy s name in Tom s face Fitzgerald writes, Making a short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand. Then there were bloody towels upon the bathroom floor, and women s voices scolding, and high over the confusion a long broken wail of pain (37). Tom breaks his mistress s ...
