Sinus And Skull Base Surgery
Intra Operative Image Guidance in Sinus and Skull Base Surgery
Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) using rigid endoscopes has developed into becoming
the mainstay treatment for opening obstructed outflow tracts of the paranasal sinuses. However,
limitations surrounding FESS have resulted in intra operative Image Guidance Systems (IGS) to
improve outcomes in complex skull base procedures. A principal limitation of the endoscopic
endonasal approach is the availability of only a two dimensional view, with surgeons instead
localising instruments based partly on their depth of penetration and tactile sensation. The restricted
nature of the sinonasal tract and the complex arrangement of adjacent vital structures (carotid
artery, optic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IGS were first developed for the application in neurosurgical procedures to determine precise
anatomical locations, which was deemed to be primordial. The 1970 s saw the trial of computed
tomography (CT) assisted location systems for focal destruction in stereotactic brain surgery. (3 5)
These early devices impeded efficient sinus surgery with the need for reference frames fixated to
the cranium and positioning of fiducial markers. During the 1980 s, multiple systems were
constructed to bypass the need for reference frames, localising instead by acoustic or ultrasound
triangulation or even articulated arms. During this timeframe, referencing was always in
accordance to fiducial markers.(6) Innovative systems dedicated to endonasal surgery progressed
in the 1990s through the use of infrared diodes and opaque radio markers.(7 9) In 1994, the
Americans were the first to describe computer assisted endoscopic sinus surgery, using a frameless
stereotactic system with attached articulated arms of an ISG viewing wand.(10) The technology
pertaining to intraoperative IGS in endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery continues to develop.
IGS using either electromagnetic or optical based technologies are designed to localise surgical
instruments in the operative field. Both technologies allow for: real time detection of the position
of instruments in three dimensional imaging; are accurate to within 2mm;

The Civil Rights Act Of Selma And Taylor Branch s Novel...
The Epic March to Blacks Voting Rights The Civil Rights Act of 1964 legally banned
discrimination in the United States, but the struggle with racial tension continued to exist.
Blacks were still denied the right to vote, along with other numerous rights that whites had.
Obstacles like the literacy test and the poll tax made it almost impossible for blacks to vote.
Martin Luther King Jr., an influential figure in the civil rights movement, literally paved the
way for equality through efforts such as protests and marches. The march from Selma to
Montgomery was one of the most memorable marches led by King, and signified the blacks
desire for unhindered suffrage. The fictional movie Selma and Taylor Branch s novel The King
Years: Historic Moments in the Civil Rights Movement provide historical insight into King s
fight for civil rights. Selma, a fictional movie based on true events, debuted in 2014 and narrates
King s efforts to acquire voting rights for blacks. The movie mainly takes place in Selma,
Alabama, hence the movie s title. King rallied supporters in Selma to organize a march to
Montgomery, the capitol of Alabama. The movie primarily focuses on King and his supporters, and
their struggle against the racism of white oppressors. The fight was certainly not easy, and many
supporters in the march faced extreme discrimination and violence. Annie Lee Cooper, who played
a significant role in both the movie and the actual movement, had her voter registration form

Early Stages of The Industrial Revolution In Britain:
How Factories That Burned Coal Created Air Pollution
In the long process of human history, with the occurrence of the industrial revolution, Britain was
the first country to go through industrialisation. People give high marks on this industrial revolution
, considering that it marks the beginning of a new era in human history; has passed the previous
agricultural economy and has lead the human has into the industrial age. Today, however, when we
think back to the British modern industrial revolution and the industrialisation process, we can find
out that it has not only brought in endless welfare, but also was a great failure ... Show more content

II. Using machines excluded the restriction of all kinds of natural conditions and also value
added use of plants. III. With the expansion of factories, some large scale factories raised their
productivity gradually. Take cotton textile as an example, the invention of the spinning frame by
Sir Richard Arkwright and the invention of the spinning mule by Samuel Crompton helped to
raise productivity rapidly. If you wanted to process 100 pounds of cotton, you could use India
hand spinning labour, which needed 50,000 hours; But you could use spinning mule with 100
spindles and only need 1,000 hours. Or you could use the steam engine spinning mule and only
need 300 hours. In 1825, Roberts Loom s self acting spinning mule needed just 135 hours. IV. A
factory owner aimed to make the maximisation of profit his most important goal. Extensive
production increased personal wealth rapidly and satisfied people s desire for money.
Just because of the industry system, factory owners have an inner drive to despite everything
expand the production scale just to earn more profit and this can be implemented and amplified
with machines material strength. Therefore, in the 1830s, textiles were built in an astonishing
speed. The ships of the English swarm like flies; their printed calicoes cover the whole earth . Not
only did occurred frantically build factories, they also invested to build railroads. In a hundred
years of industrial revolution, just as Marx

Essay on U.S. Foreign Policy and Latin America
During the Cold War, the US invaded Latin America, Asia, and partly Europe. They used sneaky
methods and propaganda to achieve their goals. At this time, in the Cold War, they were very
devious and tactical in their mission. The US foreign Policy at that time was all about defeating
Communism and keeping the balance of power in it s favor but most importantly, for US s own
economic interest. Generally, the US foreign policy concerning Latin America was of course for the
US own benefit. If the person in power was trying to nationalize their country s economy, the US
accused them of communism and proceeded to push them out, unofficially, under the pretext of
national security. In Guatemala, United Fruit was the main corporation that... Show more content on

This was the face of US foreign policy in Guatemala. Chile s economy was effectively owned by
US corporation s, and these corporation s controlled the country s resources. When Allende
nationalized copper the two main American corporation were financially hurt severely and lost a
lot of profit. This concerned the US and Nixon worried that Chile was falling under soviet
control and communism. One of Nixon s fears was that the Soviets would have total control in
Americas backyard. However, the major reason that the US instigated the overthrow was
because the corporations did not want Chile to take over their own resources and use them for
their own benefit. The corporations were able to exercise leverage over Allende because Chile
was in the middle of an economic depression and Chile was receiving loans from American
banks. Once Allende was in power these loans were stopped by US foreign policy and of course
Chile suffered economically . At this point, Pinochet was put into power . This is a perfect
example of how the US foreign policy replaced genuine democracy with dictatorship for their
own benefit, and again, supposedly in the name of National Security. Latin America was a victim
of US foreign policy and corporate greed. US foreign policy in Europe was to dominate, exploit,
and to eradicate Communism. This was to continue US hegemony and to keep the balance of power
in their favor.

The Treaty Of Versailles, A Treaty Between Germany And The...
The Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty signed between Germany and the Allies. It was to stop the
war to end all wars (Woodrow Wilson). Every country or colony entered in this war had suffered
immense loss and unbelievable damage to the landscape where the battle had taken place. The
Treaty was meant to finally bring peace to the world, but instead, it only let more problems arise.
Worse ones that certainly had not been intended for. The Treaty of Versaillesonly brought peace for
so long, and after twenty one years, another devastating war had been released on the world.
However, the repercussions are solely because of the Treaty of Versailles, as it put all of the costs of
the war on Germany, including taking responsibility for starting it in the first place.
As to speak, Germany took the very rough brunt of the war. Including the costs that Britain didn
t want to deal with, and instead passed the blame. Germany was forced to take responsibility for
starting the war and all the losses and casualties to the Allied Forces. There were also countless
other financial weights that they had to deal with after the treaty was signed. Of course, and with
good reason as well, the German people were outraged by this. The treaty had been written only
by the Allies, and Germany was forced to play under their will if the country didn t want to be
invaded or annexed by the other side. It was a threat they knew would be carried out. Even to this,

Arthur Dimmesdale in The Scarlet Letter Essay
The Scarlet LetterArthur Dimmesdale Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, a main character in Nathaniel
Hawthorne s novel The Scarlet Letter, proves to be a sinner against man, against God and most
importantly against himself because he has committed adultery with Hester Prynne, resulting in an
illegitimate child, Pearl. His sinning against himself, for which he ultimately paid the price of
death, proved to be more harmful and more destructive than this sin of the flesh, and his sin against
God. Socrates said, Knowthyself, and Shakespeare said, To thine own self be true. If Reverend
Dimmesdalehad been true to himself he certainly wouldn t have suffered as much as he did. What

Dimmesdale portrays himself very ironically. He is a very well respected reverend and yet, has,
for the last 7 years, worked on preaching the word of God, especially while he urges the
congregation to confess openly to repent unto God. While, in reality, Dimmesdale is the one
whoneeds a clean conscious. He feels like he needs to confess not only to the town but also too
himself. Halfway through the novel
Dimmesdale has yet to reveal the truth, which, so far, has been devouring him, physically and
mentally. Since this good reverend is so spiritual, he cannot reveal his truths to the town so
simply. He is of the Puritan faith and being a follower of that, the sin of adultery is a very grand
sin. The whole town would look down on him as if he were a hypocrite. Which in fact, he is, but
his sin of adultery in that town would have been scoffed at just as Hester s has. The reverend is so
well liked by the townsfolk that
Hawthorne states, They fancied him the mouthpiece of Heaven s messages of wisdom, rebuke,
and love. In their eyes, the very ground on which he trod was sanctified. ( 139 ) How else can the
reverend live without revealing his identity? He has been doing it for seven years, and it must be
hard for him, mentally and physically. Mentally, his whole body shuts down because he cannot take
it anymore, even though he does not give in to confess yet. He has become emaciated because he
has let the sin against himself churn

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Teixobactin
Another anti infection the first in about 30 years has been found by researchers who claim it gives
off an impression of being as great, or shockingly better than, numerous current medications with the
possibility to conflict with an expansive scope of lethal diseases, for example, pneumonia and
tuberculosis.
Research facility tests have demonstrated the new anti toxin, called teixobactin, can murder some
microbes as fast as set up anti microbials and can cure lab mice experiencing bacterial diseases with
no dangerous symptoms.
Studies have additionally uncovered the model medication conflicts with hurtful microscopic

Microbes create resistance by transformations in their proteins. The objectives of teixobactin are not
proteins, they are polymer antecedents of cell divider building pieces so there is truly nothing to
transform, Professor Lewis said.
We ve been working under the authoritative opinion that the advancement of resistance is
inescapable and we have to concentrate on presenting anti infection agents speedier than pathogens

Teixobactin gives us a sample of how we can build up an option system on creating mixes where
resistance is not going to quickly create, he included.

Examples Of Format A Resume
1 Format your resume. It is vital to make the right first impression to your prospective employers
because the first thing that will jump into their sight is how well organized your resume is. In
most cases, your resume will not get a thorough reading at the first time no matter how well
written. Therefore, it is a good idea to make your resume attractive and readable by formatting.
There are some useful tips for you to format your resume. First, keep your resume short and
simple. Most people do not need more than two pages unless you have extensive related skills and
experience. Second, invite employers attention by using wide margins and a logical format. A
logical format contributes to the effect of the overall design and wide margins... Show more content

3 Make your content shine. The description of your education and work experience is the core of
your resume, which is also the section that employers will mainly focus on. Therefore, making
your content interesting and descriptive will enable your resume to stand out from competitors.
Here are some ways that can help your resume gets noticed. First, use active voice and expressive
verbs to describe the specific things that you have done. These can highlight your ability and
skills, and spice up your resume to make it stand out. For example, if you were an administrative
assistant, you might want to use words such as scheduled and coordinated . You can use them by
writing Scheduled and coordinated appointments. Another good way to make your content shine
is to put more emphasis on your achievements and accomplishments. By emphasizing the results
you have delivered with specific facts and highlighting the ways you have added value in the
past, you will be able to demonstrate your ability and skills for solving problems with convincing
evidence. The last effective way is to choose a descriptive title for your previous job position. For
instance, instead of saying you were a secretary, say you were an administrative assistant. In
addition, think about how well the title can describe the job. For example, manager is a vague
concept

mom, Mary, in New York. Bobby has changed since having Feather, but the question is, has he

of coffee in her hand. This is the scene where Bobby is running late and takes Feather to Coco
instead of to the babysitter s home. Bobby is being irresponsible and childish by not doing what
he knows he is supposed to do. At the end of the book, Fred takes Bobby a cup of coffee when
Bobby is holding and caring for Feather. Bobby is being reliable and is making mature decisions.
Bobby has coffee when he is making mature decisions and being responsible, Coco and Fred have

Using Custom Apps For The Android System
One of the ways that a user can expose himself to malware can be to hack Android devices in
order to get root privileges to install custom apps. This has several risks as it elevates a user s
privileges rerouting the Android system. With root privileges, an Android user can do many
things that the Android manufacturers have disabled for you as a normal user. This creates
security flaws because hazardous apps can be installed and apps can get root privileges. User
installed apps that require root privileges can be especially dangerous. Illegal means will beget
illegal acts. A general rule of thumb is that if a user must do something that the Androiddesigners
don t want them to do, then it s for good reason. A good saying to follow by is that if you aren t
the consumer, then you are the product. This means that if you get things for free, then there s
almost always a catch. Security may be a beneficial factor for devices, but ultimately the user is
responsible.

The Art of Akhenaten A Formal Analysis of House Shrine and Akhenaten Making Offerings One of
the most enigmatic pharaohs of Egyptian history, Amenhotep IV, had grown up in the most
powerful family in ancient Egypt. Once he became pharaoh and ruler of Egypt s empire in 1378
BCE, he changed his name to Akhenaten, effective spirit of Aten , and was known to the people as
the heretic king. Early in his reign, Akhenaten encouraged ideas by using art as a way of

This first act as king brought with him a shocking speculation and hostility between his throne and
the priesthood of Amun. Inside the temple was an entirely new style of art, which was often
described, as naturalistic in Akhenaten s portrayal of the human body. No longer was the Pharaoh
portrayed as half animal with the perfect body fitted for the afterlife. Akhenaten and the royal
family were shown with long toes, massive hips, extremely long fingers, skinny torso, ample
breasts, big buttocks, and an elongated face. This exaggeration of the royal family s bodies altered
classic Egyptian art and became better known as Amarna Art.
Another astonishing act to this religious revolution was the Akhenaten s order of the construction
of a new capital, far to the north of Thebes known as Amarna, horizon of the sun, claiming the sun
god lead him there. A few years after, Akhenaten made the decision to abandon Thebes and
ordered his people to pack up and leave behind the city built by his father to receive the blessings
of Aten in the city of Amarna. Shortly thereafter, he abolished traditional gods and goddesses,
declaring one monotheistic deity, Aten, and introduced in art as a more intimate worship in public
and personal settings of the royal family, receiving blessings from Aten, and showing day to day
life and activities.

The Effects Of Sleep On Insomnia And Vagal Activity 14...
Sleep can be effected in a number of different ways whether it is by the environment, your
thoughts, or your pre sleep routine, there are multiple factors involved. Many people have their
own techniques that work well for them and some doctors have recommendations of their own.
One tried and true technique for falling asleep is by utilizing different breathing exercises or
simply focusing on the breath. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effectiveness of
breathing techniques on sleep. In a study used to determine the efficacy of paced breathing on
insomnia and vagal activity 14 people with self reported insomnia (SRI) and 14 people who
reported to be good sleepers (GS) were utilized to test the hypotheses that paced breathing would
aid those with insomnia in falling asleep (Tsai, Kuo, Lee, Yang, 2014). The study measured
variables such as sleep quality, sleep effectiveness, Heart rate variability, and cardiac vagal tone.
For the individuals to be allowed in the SRI group they had to have difficulty falling asleep,
staying asleep, or trouble with waking up too early and not being able to go back to sleep more
than 3 times per week, for 6 continuous months. All subjects of the study had to be between 20
25 years old and have a BMI within the normal range for their height and weight (18.5 24.5 Kg

exactly why these countries are in this position appears to be a mystery, despite many cash grants,

The origins of the debt crisis lie in the beginning of the Cold War era. An era in which the two
superpowers of the world sought to gain alliances with as many nations as possible. One such
method of attracting allegiance was to provide military aid and economic aid

South Korea that lay directly in the path of communist efforts. One such individual involved in
defense support projects was Secretary of

Corporate Strategy FedEx plans to focus on several strategies. Among these strategies the main
mission of FedEx is to grow internationally by increasing the supply chain capabilities through e
commerce, technology and alliances. Also, the company continues to implement revenue
enhancement and cost reduction programs to provide long term revenue and profit growth and to
reduce costs by taking initiatives such as Airport to airport transportation of Priority, Express and
First Class Mail for the U.S. Postal Service, which began on August 27 and expansion of the
FedEx home delivery network to 80% of the U.S. population, beginning September 25. FedEx
Home Delivery will open 63 additional locations in regions throughout the U.S., including 56 co
located terminals with existing FedEx Ground facilities, minimizing capital expenditures. The
nationwide placement of up to 10,000 FedEx Drop Boxes outside U.S. Post Offices is another
strategy that the company uses for development.

The world consists of so many different types of religions, and every religion has its own objectives,
their own path, and their own different beliefs. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are the three most
prominent religions in the western civilization. From their origins to life rituals, they have a great
amount of similarities and differences between these three prominent religions.
The origin of Judaism initiated around 1812 BC and it is one of the world s oldest monotheistic
religions. This religion commenced through the Patriarch and Matriarch of the belief, Abraham and
Sarah. Together they gave birth to a baby boy named Isaac. Jewish people believed that Isaac is

Prayer is the means by which Christians communicate with their God. The New Testament says that
Jesus taught his disciples how to pray and that he wanted them to refer God as Father. Christians
still continue this tradition. After Jesus, the spreading of the religion was largely due to the work of
a converted Jew, Paul or Saint Paul. Through the writings and teachings of Paul, Christianity began
to set apart itself from Judaism. The new religion adapted many of the forms of worship of the
older Judaism. The Bible, composed of both the Old Testament and the New Testament, is the
sacred book of Christianity. Christianity remains to be and will always be one of the world s
largest religion. Most Christians attend worship services at church on Sundays, which basically
includes singing, prayer and a sermon. Most Christian churches have a special ritual for
ordination, or having a person fit for a leadership position in the church. At home, most
practicing Christians pray regularly and many read the Bible. Christians soon also developed
two primary sacraments, or sacred ceremonies: baptism and the Lord s Supper. Baptism is a
religious ceremony in which a person is dipped in water as a sign of being cleansed of sin. The
Last Supper is a remembering Christ s last meal with his disciples before he died. Another practice
Christians do is fasting, in which they don t eat or drink for a determined period. Christian

Why Is Lou Gehrig Important
Have you ever wondered if there was a legend or two in each baseball team. Lou Gehrig is
undeniably courageous because He was an excellent ballplayer, Also he was a respectful person,
and He would always Persevere. My first example showed how Lou Gehrig was an excellent
person. On August 17, 1933, New York Yankees
first baseman Lou Gehrigplays in his 1,308th

The events of September 11, 2001, pose a huge and unexpected problem with which U.S.

What Is The Role Of Reasoning In Judicial Decision Making
It s important to understand how judges come to their decisions, as it can often be more than
just simply applying legal principles to get to the relevant solution. It is common for there to be
many potential outcomes to a case, and these outcomes shape the way in which laws shift and
change thus having a profound impact on society as a whole our laws are what define our
civilization, values, beliefs, and morality. As Lord Dyson stated: The business of judging often
involves a choice between different conclusions, any of which it may be possible to reach by
respectable legal reasoning. The choice made is likely to be motivated at a far deeper level by the
judge s own approach to the law . This essay will cover the role of reasoning in judicial decision
making; how it allows judges to interpret statute and precedent, as well as leading the way for
reform and the establishing of new case law. It will also cover the limitations of reasoning, some of
which help keep the balance of power in check Such as binding precedent and the rule of law, as
well as other subconscious factors that may influence a judge s ability to use reason when making a
decision.
Reasoning plays an important role in judicial decision making. No matter how many precedent
cases, guidelines, and statutes may exist, reasoning will always be essential because it allows these
factors to be interpreted on a case by case basis; this is necessary because statutes are too limited to
be able to cover every

The Industrial Revolution was an innovative period between the 1760s through the 1850s, making
people go from a predominantly agricultural existence into a more urban lifestyle. Starting after
year 1750, all the factors that, made Great Britain the best place for industrialization. The primary
assessment that made it possible was the invention of machines that could do work that was
previously done by hand. This allowed production to shift from inside homes into factories. During
the industrial revolution, new inventions were plentiful and helped to revolutionize the way in

Mass Production and Division of labor is a manufacturing system based upon principles such as
interchangeable parts, large scale productions, and the high volume assembly line. In the early
1800s, a man named Josiah Wedgwood started his own pottery business using mass production,
they made pottery for Europeans who liked to always keep their tea from porcelain because
without the pottery cups the flavor would spoil. He hired many labors to press down the clay,
glaze pieces, carry things, while others put handles on cups. Mass Production adapted to make
workers more productive using less required skills, while being paid less being able to lower costs
of products while boosting quality. Mass Production and Division became the most important
structure for manufacturing across the globe, utilizing extreme impact on popular culture.
Mechanization was a huge process, that changed work that was done before only by hands or
animal s to doing work with new machinery. The cotton thread and weaving for cloth in the 1800s
was a main product for these new machines, the cloth was much nicer, softer, and cleaner than any
hand made clothing as said in the book wealthy Europeans developed a liking for the costly
import. This quote shows that wealthy Europeans were itching for the newly designed products
made by these machines. The people working in this industrial adapted well towards
mechanization by being able to create more product faster, while being less stressed at work.

Supplier or vendor selection decisions are complicated by the fact that various criteria must be
considered in decisions making process. The analysis of criteria for selection and measuring the
performance of suppliers has been the focus of many scientists and purchasing practitioners since
1960s. The majority of research about supplier selection problem mentions Dickson s study [9]. It is
based on a questionnaire sent to 273 purchasing agents and managers selected from the membership
list of the National Association of Purchasing Managers, which include agents and managers from
the United States and Canada. Dickson s study describes the importance of 23 criteria for supplier
selection which are classified with respect to their importance observed in the beginning of the
sixties. At that time, the most significant criteria are quality of the product, the on time delivery, the
performance history of the supplier and the warranty policy used by the supplier. Table 2.1 Dickson

Keats Influence On Religion
One of the most alluded works in the history of literature would definitely be the Bible. The
Bible has given insight to most of the great authors through out time as either inspiration or a
source of parody. The number of Biblical quotes and related symbols could be almost endless to
list. Parodies and symbolic reference to the Bible in literary works, serve as an expression of the
author s and time s religious view points.
The Romantic view of religion was more concerned with human religious experience than with
divinely revealed truths. Religion for the Romantics created the want to escape the physical world

Rossetti spent most of her life by strict religious principles. She gave up two engagement
commitments due to religious factors. Rossetti s religious compassion in her work was no secret.
A well known Rossetti critic, Jerome McGann, says, nearly all her poems contain important
allusions to and quotations from The Book of Common Prayers and the Bible. (McGann 211).
Keats, however, chose to use religious topics to inspire his works in other ways. Robert Ryan
says, Keats decisively repudiated the Christianity of their time as incorrigibly dishonest and
pernicious. (Ryan 5). Ryan s statement along with the symbolism in The Eve of St. Agnes makes
me believe Keats to have preferred the old religion over the new.
One religious interpretation of The Eve of St. Agnes was brought about by Jack Stillinger in his
book The Hoodwinking of Madeline. Stillinger relates Madeline s dream on the Eve of St.
Agnes to that of Adam s while he is dreaming of the creation of Eve. Madeline was dreaming of
her future husband, and when she awoke she found Porphyro in her bed. This thought of
imagination turning to truth is the same case of when Adam awakes from his dream, and he
finds his dream has come true. The difference between the two dreams lies in the fact Adam is
happy when he awakes and sees Eve, but Madeline does not feel as pleased. She seems scared of
what she awakens to by saying, No dream, alas! Alas! And woe is mine! (Norton

Walter Mead Isolationism
According to historians there are a multitude of misconceptions surrounding Americas foreign
policy in its earliest days. Perhaps the biggest one being the misunderstanding that is, America was
an isolationist country at it s founding. With that being said, how have historians assessed whether
or not the United Stateswas an isolationist country from its founding through 1815? This question
is best answered by looking at the United States diplomatic interactions with other countries, and its
unbeknownst cultural affinity with Britain. Once we look at these two things its rather difficult to
say America was an isolationist country from its founding through 1815. To start, it s imperative to
understand the meaning of the word isolationist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mead states the first treaty America signed in 1778, which was a military alliance with France
goes directly against isolationist tendencies. This also erodes Kaplan s point of the U.S. not
forming alliances with other countries. Furthermore Mead essentially says from 1778 1793 the
United States is beholden to assist France in any foreign conflict they are involved in. However
France hadn t engaged in war until 1793, which was when the United States signed the
proclamation of neutrality proclaiming neutral in the war between Britain and France. Mead argues
George Washington didn t sign this because he wanted America to be an isolationist country, but he
signed it because America was so new of a country Washington didn t want to fight a messy
European war that could eventually lead to Americas demise. Additionally Mead states, Washington
signed the proclamation so the United States could maintain its sovereign independence, and that it
had absolutely nothing to do with attempting to be an isolationist state. Furthermore Mead argues
that only thirteen years after the United States constitution was ratified, they had participated in
their first foreign war. This was when the U.S. allied with Sweden in the Tripolitan War against
the North African Barbary States. Mead follows this up by pointing to the quote said by one of the
United States founding fathers Thomas Paine. After they won the Tripolitan War. Paine says, The
cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind. Mead essentially states that Paine
s quote expressed to the people that the United States was willing to do everything in their power,
including foreign intervention to prescribe the rest of the world human liberties, and the right to
self government that were staples in America at the current time. Finally Mead points to the war of
1812 when the United States

Medical School Should Be A Medical Program
There are thousands universities/colleges in the United States that have a medical school/program.
For those students interested in going into the medical field, deciding on what college to attend
can be very tricky. Students always want to attend the best university out there, but that isn t
always the easiest decision because of certain road blocks. For example, those who live in Arizona
have the chance to go to U of A; there is also the opportunity to go to U of W (University of
Washington). While both schools have a medical program, the University of Washington has more
to offer Arizonian students than the University of Arizona.
When students are looking into the medical school they should attend, they should look into the
school s rank. According to Carleen Eaton, author of Getting into Medical School For Dummies,
one of the factors that students should consider is the medical school rank. After the required years
of undergrad and medical school are complete, students will have to go begin their residency. The
school s ranking can help in that. According to the U.S.News and World Report Education, UW is
ranked #1 Best Medical Schools: Primary Care and #8 Best Medical Schools: Research, while U of
A is ranked #63 Best Medical Schools: Research, and #74 Best Medical Schools: Primary Care .

Eating and foraging were similar events, but categorized differently. Eating was any time the
monkey stayed in one location to eat. He could be sitting or standing. This was most notably
seen when the monkey would grab a leaf or stick, climb up to a branch, and sit there while

occasionally eating what he found. The monkey we observed was seen foraging arboreally by

The Battle at Dong Ap Bia occurred during Operation Apache Snow during The Vietnam War,
which had the aim of clearing the People s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and Viet Cong (VC) from

type of clothing, stereotyping would be a difficult task. Non uniform clothing can make students
aware of ones social and economic status. This leads to bullying which can include mental and
physical harm. In the article What s the point of school uniform by Chloe Spencer, it states that
nearly 160,000 students miss school every day due to the fear that they will be attacked or be
intimidated by other students. This can be prevented solely by enforcing uniforms in all schools.
Not only will uniforms prevent bullying but will stop the stress of social statuses for

The Common Origins of the World’s Major Religions Essay
The Common Origins of the World s Major Religions
All too often in modern society it is the differences and conflicts that serve to separate religious
groups that are emphasized. The mainstream media, fundamentalists propaganda, and other sources
choose to ignore the numerous similarities that many religions share, and instead focus on the
divisive elements. In this paper, I will attempt to shed light on the many commonalities in dogma
that I believe exist between the major religions of the world. I also want to illustrate the fact that in
addition to having similar core teachings, many religions have histories that have either endured or
arisen during times of persecution. It is ironic that in many cases, the persecution that a ... Show

Judaism The Jewish Bible points to Abraham and the covenant that God made with him in the
Book of Genesis. Yahweh s people as they are known, today Jews account for over fourteen million
people. Throughout their history, Jews have been persecuted for their faith as much as, if not more
than the followers of any other faith. From having the first temple of Jerusalem destroyed by the
Babylonians in 586BC to internment in Nazi concentration camps in the twentieth century, Jews
communities have remained solidly united through belief in the Diaspora and the goal of
reestablishing the state of Israel. Finally, in 1948, Israel once again regained its sovereignty;
however, this has not brought an end to the suffering and conflict that seems to have characterized
Jewish life since its inception. Central to Jewish dogma, is adherence to the Torah, or the Jewish
Bible. The Torah, which is composed primarily of the first five books of the Bible: Genesis,
Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. While the most notablesplit from traditional
Judaism can be seen in the origins of Christianity, other breakings include Conservative and Reform
movements in the nineteenth century. One of the greatest prophets in the Jewish tradition is
Moses. Living at around the thirteenth century BC, Moses is accredited with delivering the Jewish
Israelites from the harsh oppression of the

What Are The Two Important Quotes From Huckleberry Finn
Peter would dive through the air, and catch Michael just before he could strike the sea, and it was
lovely the way he did it; but he always waited till the last moment, and you felt it was his cleverness
that interested him and not the saving of human life. (pg.46).
Context:
Wendy narrated this event when her brothers and Peter were flying over a ocean. Wendy said the
quote after Peter flew down to get Michael who has fallen asleep while flying and almost hit the
water.
Commentary: This observation by Wendy still applies to people today, because many many time,
humans has done things for our own entertainment instead for the greater good. Peter saving
Micheal from falling into the ocean and dying, to Peter it is just a game. And even ... Show more

Context: This phrase comes from the narrator of the story. After she read one final story to Peter
and the Lost Boys, Wendy will soon departure and leave Neverland. Even though the narrator
voiced this phrase as a summary to Wendy s story, but also provided the readers with something
very truthful.
Commentary:
This quote really sums up humans flaws and sins. No matter what time period, humans have
always been selfish and yet wanting. Even though the statement expressed those qualities as what
children do, but all humans of all ages can be held accountable for being like what was said in the
quote. Everyday we can see people being self centered, egocentric, and yet they still want people to
love them and care for them. In Peter Pan you can see these traits many times through out the story.
Artistic Quote: While she stitched a change came to the lagoon. Little shivers ran over it, and the
sun went away and shadows stole across the water, turning it cold. when she looked up, the lagoon
that had always hitherto been such a laughing place seemed formidable and unfriendly... (pg.96).

Decision Making Skills For Arms Control And Trade
Decision making skills for arms control and trade cover the scientific discovery, ethical and
philosophical decisions and politics. The scientific discovery (history) of arms trade has been
around since the first crqeation of the cannon, but it has only been in the last century has the
world seen an explosion in arms deals. The best way to categorize the history and politics of arms
trade is during and after the Cold War, which began two years after World War II ended in 1945.
During the Cold War there was no global market for arms trade, countries strictly only dealt with
who they considered their allies. With the fall of nazi Germany it left two main superpowers for
supplying arms, the USA and Russia. The US solely dealt and supplied arms with countries like the
United Kingdom, France, Netherlands and Russia being a communist state at the time dealt with
countries that had an influencing communist party in power like Cuba. Both superpowers however
competed to influence destabilized countries in Africa, and in Latin America.
After the Cold War ended in the late 1980 s early 1990 s the world saw a globalization of arms
trade becoming an open market where the USA and Russia are able to deal with whatever country
is willing to buy. Some of the most sought out weapons after the Cold War were nuclear and
although there are only five countries are allowed to possess nuclear weapons, the US, United
Kingdom, France, Russia and China, they are stored in over a dozen countries.

Poverty Influences Children s Early Brain Development
Poverty Influences Children s Early Brain Development
Children have been the topic of many research studies and debates throughout history. Scientists,
educators, social workers and teachers have debated the importance of nature and nurture in
children s development. Our ideas of children are shaped greatly by the portrayal of children
through media. Producers, journalists, and writers have the power to either portray children as
passive or active agents in their development of social, academic and life skills. The authors
assumptions and personal beliefs of children or childhood can be identified through the way they
represent children in their writings. In the article, Poverty Influences Children s Early Brain
Development the author reports the effect that poverty has on the development of infants and
young children s brain size. Developing children are portrayed as passive, relying on the guidance
of parents, caretakers and the community, rather than being seen as active agents who can utilize an
innate ability to learn, and overcome any obstacles, including poverty. The author focuses on the
idea that children, while developing, are dependent on stimulation from others: parents, relatives,
caregivers and the environment to learn socio emotional skills that impact their ability to learn in
the future. The author s perspective of children as passive beings can be inferred from his selection
of quotes included in his article. For example, in the news

Contrary to what many people believe, America s health status is not quite up to par, to say the

15% of our nation s population! At first this disturbing truth seems impossible to believe, being as
America is one of the most technologically advanced and economically developed countries in the
world. We spend trillions of dollars per year on medical care. That s nearly half of all the health
dollars spent in the world. But we ve seen our statistics. We live shorter, often sicker lives than
almost every other industrialized nation. We rank 30th in [global] life expectancy (Adelman 2008).

each district decreases in average income, education level and life expectancy than its preceding
district, beginning with district 16, Jim Taylor s district. District 16 has an average combined
household income of approximately $120,000/ annually. In this district, 65% of the population
has a college degree and the life expectancy in this district is 82 years. Whereas, Tondra Young s
district, district 24, has an average combined household income of $70,000/annually and 15% of

is an obvious correlation between social/economic status and health status. As each districts average
income and education level decrease, average life expectancy coincides. This leads to the next
question: why does social and economic status so greatly influence health status? One could supply
many obvious reasons

Mexicos War on Drugs
Mexico s Drug War There is a saying in Mexico that states Mejor vivir como un rey por cinco
aГ±os que vivir como laborador por cincuenta which translates to better to live as a king for five
years than as an Ox for fifty. This is particularly a famous saying between the poor youth because
their opportunities are so limited they believe it is better to be part of the narcos and be a narco
king for a short period than to live a long time as a laborer, worker, or slave. Consequently,
throughout the years, drug cartels (the most famous being Sinaloa) have developed across Mexico
with the intent of making money by selling drugs; this has caused many encounters with the law,
corruption, and death. In addition, Fund for Peace... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After many years under fear, in 2006, Felipe Calderon became the new president. He began
employing military troops to fight the cartels; also, he began communications with the United
States, asking for help financially and with brute force in order to stop the drug cartels in
Mexico. The U.S. and Mexico started a partnership in the year 2008, called the Merida Initiative.
The purpose of this partnership is to fight organized crime and violence related to it. According
to state.gov, the U.S. has given about $2.3 billion since the partnership began (Department of
State). Additionally, the United States of America is the number one consumer of drugs in the
world and ninety percent of these drugs are produced in Mexico. For this reason, America plays
a big role in the equation. Therefore, by legalizing marijuana in the US, Mexican drug cartels
would be affected directly, simply because this would significantly reduce the illegal drug
consumption; which means that the price of this drug would drop dramatically leading to a
devastating cut in the profit of the drug cartels. Furthermore, it did not take long after the
legalization of marijuana in Colorado for researchers to start noticing and further investigating into
the effects this would have on Mexican cartels if this event were to take place nationwide. In How
marijuana legalization will affect Mexico s cartels, in charts an article by Olga Khazan she writes:

When communicators are interacting with others, there are many behavioral and psychological
facets that influences their judgment. Kim s Theory makes up four layers that portrays how and
why people interact the way they do. The communicator layer will be examined through the
dissection of identity inclusivity, identityexclusivity, identity security and identity insecurity.
The Four Layers of the Contextual Theory of Interethnic Communication Young Yun Kim s
Contextual Theory of Interethnic Communication comprises of four layers: the environment, the
situation, the communicator, and the behavior. All of these layers work together in order to create
what Kim calls a communication event (Kim, 2005). When interethnic communication occurs, the
communicators identify some form of distinctiveness from the conversational partner in terms of
ethnicity or other identity aspects. The environment layer describes the larger social setting, so
aspects such as institutional influences. The next layer, the situation, is ingrained in the
environment layer. According to Kim, the situation layer describes the actual interethnic meeting.
In this context, the communicator will engage with their conversational partner(s) (Kim, 2005).
Following the situation layer is the communicator layer. This gets more specific with the personal
identities of the communicator and the people they are interacting with. The communicator layer
will be the focus of this paper. Lastly, the behavioral layer

provided and moreover how critical access is. Despite some successful points of entry, Coco s
story highlights the significant adversity she and her children face on a regular basis. This paper
examines the needs of Coco and her children, their attempts at accessing different services, and the

required multiple asthma treatments a day, and took a many medications for her health issues.
Additionally, she required constant attention and support from her familymembers; this included

  • 2. Sinus And Skull Base Surgery Intra Operative Image Guidance in Sinus and Skull Base Surgery Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) using rigid endoscopes has developed into becoming the mainstay treatment for opening obstructed outflow tracts of the paranasal sinuses. However, limitations surrounding FESS have resulted in intra operative Image Guidance Systems (IGS) to improve outcomes in complex skull base procedures. A principal limitation of the endoscopic endonasal approach is the availability of only a two dimensional view, with surgeons instead localising instruments based partly on their depth of penetration and tactile sensation. The restricted nature of the sinonasal tract and the complex arrangement of adjacent vital structures (carotid artery, optic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... IGS were first developed for the application in neurosurgical procedures to determine precise anatomical locations, which was deemed to be primordial. The 1970 s saw the trial of computed tomography (CT) assisted location systems for focal destruction in stereotactic brain surgery. (3 5) These early devices impeded efficient sinus surgery with the need for reference frames fixated to the cranium and positioning of fiducial markers. During the 1980 s, multiple systems were constructed to bypass the need for reference frames, localising instead by acoustic or ultrasound triangulation or even articulated arms. During this timeframe, referencing was always in accordance to fiducial markers.(6) Innovative systems dedicated to endonasal surgery progressed in the 1990s through the use of infrared diodes and opaque radio markers.(7 9) In 1994, the Americans were the first to describe computer assisted endoscopic sinus surgery, using a frameless stereotactic system with attached articulated arms of an ISG viewing wand.(10) The technology pertaining to intraoperative IGS in endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery continues to develop. IGS using either electromagnetic or optical based technologies are designed to localise surgical instruments in the operative field. Both technologies allow for: real time detection of the position of instruments in three dimensional imaging; are accurate to within 2mm; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Civil Rights Act Of Selma And Taylor Branch s Novel... The Epic March to Blacks Voting Rights The Civil Rights Act of 1964 legally banned discrimination in the United States, but the struggle with racial tension continued to exist. Blacks were still denied the right to vote, along with other numerous rights that whites had. Obstacles like the literacy test and the poll tax made it almost impossible for blacks to vote. Martin Luther King Jr., an influential figure in the civil rights movement, literally paved the way for equality through efforts such as protests and marches. The march from Selma to Montgomery was one of the most memorable marches led by King, and signified the blacks desire for unhindered suffrage. The fictional movie Selma and Taylor Branch s novel The King Years: Historic Moments in the Civil Rights Movement provide historical insight into King s fight for civil rights. Selma, a fictional movie based on true events, debuted in 2014 and narrates King s efforts to acquire voting rights for blacks. The movie mainly takes place in Selma, Alabama, hence the movie s title. King rallied supporters in Selma to organize a march to Montgomery, the capitol of Alabama. The movie primarily focuses on King and his supporters, and their struggle against the racism of white oppressors. The fight was certainly not easy, and many supporters in the march faced extreme discrimination and violence. Annie Lee Cooper, who played a significant role in both the movie and the actual movement, had her voter registration form ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People give high marks on this industrial revolution , considering that it marks the beginning of a new era in human history; has passed the previous agricultural economy and has lead the human has into the industrial age. With the expansion of factories, some large scale factories raised their productivity gradually. Take cotton textile as an example, the invention of the spinning frame by Sir Richard Arkwright and the invention of the spinning mule by Samuel Crompton helped to raise productivity rapidly. If you wanted to process 100 pounds of cotton, you could use India hand spinning labour, which needed 50,000 hours; But you could use spinning mule with 100 spindles and only need 1,000 hours. Or you could use the steam engine spinning mule and only need 300 hours. In 1825, Roberts Loom s self acting spinning mule needed just 135 hours. IV. A factory owner aimed to make the maximisation of profit his most important goal. Extensive production increased personal wealth rapidly and satisfied people s desire for money. Just because of the industry system, factory owners have an inner drive to despite everything expand the production scale just to earn more profit and this can be implemented and amplified with machines material strength. Therefore, in the 1830s, textiles were built in an astonishing speed. The ships of the English swarm like flies; their printed calicoes cover the whole earth . • 5. Essay on U.S. Foreign Policy and Latin America During the Cold War, the US invaded Latin America, Asia, and partly Europe. They used sneaky methods and propaganda to achieve their goals. At this time, in the Cold War, they were very devious and tactical in their mission. The US foreign Policy at that time was all about defeating Communism and keeping the balance of power in it s favor but most importantly, for US s own economic interest. Generally, the US foreign policy concerning Latin America was of course for the US own benefit. If the person in power was trying to nationalize their country s economy, the US accused them of communism and proceeded to push them out, unofficially, under the pretext of national security. In Guatemala, United Fruit was the main corporation that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the face of US foreign policy in Guatemala. Chile s economy was effectively owned by US corporation s, and these corporation s controlled the country s resources. When Allende nationalized copper the two main American corporation were financially hurt severely and lost a lot of profit. This concerned the US and Nixon worried that Chile was falling under soviet control and communism. One of Nixon s fears was that the Soviets would have total control in Americas backyard. However, the major reason that the US instigated the overthrow was because the corporations did not want Chile to take over their own resources and use them for their own benefit. The corporations were able to exercise leverage over Allende because Chile was in the middle of an economic depression and Chile was receiving loans from American banks. Once Allende was in power these loans were stopped by US foreign policy and of course Chile suffered economically . At this point, Pinochet was put into power . This is a perfect example of how the US foreign policy replaced genuine democracy with dictatorship for their own benefit, and again, supposedly in the name of National Security. Latin America was a victim of US foreign policy and corporate greed. US foreign policy in Europe was to dominate, exploit, and to eradicate Communism. This was to continue US hegemony and to keep the balance of power in their favor. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Treaty Of Versailles, A Treaty Between Germany And The... The Treaty of Versailles The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty signed between Germany and the Allies. It was to stop the war to end all wars (Woodrow Wilson). Every country or colony entered in this war had suffered immense loss and unbelievable damage to the landscape where the battle had taken place. The Treaty was meant to finally bring peace to the world, but instead, it only let more problems arise. Worse ones that certainly had not been intended for. The Treaty of Versaillesonly brought peace for so long, and after twenty one years, another devastating war had been released on the world. However, the repercussions are solely because of the Treaty of Versailles, as it put all of the costs of the war on Germany, including taking responsibility for starting it in the first place. As to speak, Germany took the very rough brunt of the war. Including the costs that Britain didn t want to deal with, and instead passed the blame. Germany was forced to take responsibility for starting the war and all the losses and casualties to the Allied Forces. There were also countless other financial weights that they had to deal with after the treaty was signed. Of course, and with good reason as well, the German people were outraged by this. The treaty had been written only by the Allies, and Germany was forced to play under their will if the country didn t want to be invaded or annexed by the other side. It was a threat they knew would be carried out. Even to this, Germany ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Arthur Dimmesdale in The Scarlet Letter Essay The Scarlet LetterArthur Dimmesdale Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, a main character in Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The Scarlet Letter, proves to be a sinner against man, against God and most importantly against himself because he has committed adultery with Hester Prynne, resulting in an illegitimate child, Pearl. His sinning against himself, for which he ultimately paid the price of death, proved to be more harmful and more destructive than this sin of the flesh, and his sin against God. He is a very well respected reverend and yet, has, for the last 7 years, worked on preaching the word of God, especially while he urges the congregation to confess openly to repent unto God. Halfway through the novel Dimmesdale has yet to reveal the truth, which, so far, has been devouring him, physically and mentally. Since this good reverend is so spiritual, he cannot reveal his truths to the town so simply. He is of the Puritan faith and being a follower of that, the sin of adultery is a very grand sin. The whole town would look down on him as if he were a hypocrite. Which in fact, he is, but his sin of adultery in that town would have been scoffed at just as Hester s has. The reverend is so well liked by the townsfolk that Hawthorne states, They fancied him the mouthpiece of Heaven s messages of wisdom, rebuke, and love. In their eyes, the very ground on which he trod was sanctified. ( 139 ) How else can the reverend live without revealing his identity? He has been doing it for seven years, and it must be hard for him, mentally and physically. Mentally, his whole body shuts down because he cannot take it anymore, even though he does not give in to confess yet. He has become emaciated because he has let the sin against himself churn ... No longer was the Pharaoh portrayed as half animal with the perfect body fitted for the afterlife. Akhenaten and the royal family were shown with long toes, massive hips, extremely long fingers, skinny torso, ample breasts, big buttocks, and an elongated face. This exaggeration of the royal family s bodies altered classic Egyptian art and became better known as Amarna Art. Another astonishing act to this religious revolution was the Akhenaten s order of the construction of a new capital, far to the north of Thebes known as Amarna, horizon of the sun, claiming the sun god lead him there. A few years after, Akhenaten made the decision to abandon Thebes and ordered his people to pack up and leave behind the city built by his father to receive the blessings of Aten in the city of Amarna. Shortly thereafter, he abolished traditional gods and goddesses, declaring one monotheistic deity, Aten, and introduced in art as a more intimate worship in public and personal settings of the royal family, receiving blessings from Aten, and showing day to day life and activities. A classic example of the radical transformation of Egyptian state religion is found on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The humidity in the room made it very uncomfortable. The smell on the other hand is great it smells so clean and warm. The room was filled with many different people. Sleep can be effected in a number of different ways whether it is by the environment, your thoughts, or your pre sleep routine, there are multiple factors involved. Many people have their own techniques that work well for them and some doctors have recommendations of their own. One tried and true technique for falling asleep is by utilizing different breathing exercises or simply focusing on the breath. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effectiveness of breathing techniques on sleep. In a study used to determine the efficacy of paced breathing on insomnia and vagal activity 14 people with self reported insomnia (SRI) and 14 people who reported to be good sleepers (GS) were utilized to test the hypotheses that paced breathing would aid those with insomnia in falling asleep (Tsai, Kuo, Lee, Yang, 2014). The study measured variables such as sleep quality, sleep effectiveness, Heart rate variability, and cardiac vagal tone. For the individuals to be allowed in the SRI group they had to have difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or trouble with waking up too early and not being able to go back to sleep more than 3 times per week, for 6 continuous months. All subjects of the study had to be between 20 25 years old and have a BMI within the normal range for their height and weight (18.5 24.5 Kg /m^). The origins of the debt crisis lie in the beginning of the Cold War era. An era in which the two superpowers of the world sought to gain alliances with as many nations as possible. One such method of attracting allegiance was to provide military aid and economic aid (termed defense support by the US)[5] to countries such as Taiwan and South Korea that lay directly in the path of communist efforts. One such individual involved in defense support projects was Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, who quickly realized what a disadvantageous situation the American government had found themselves in by offering only military support. What Is The Role Of Reasoning In Judicial Decision Making It s important to understand how judges come to their decisions, as it can often be more than just simply applying legal principles to get to the relevant solution. It is common for there to be many potential outcomes to a case, and these outcomes shape the way in which laws shift and change thus having a profound impact on society as a whole our laws are what define our civilization, values, beliefs, and morality. As Lord Dyson stated: The business of judging often involves a choice between different conclusions, any of which it may be possible to reach by respectable legal reasoning. The choice made is likely to be motivated at a far deeper level by the judge s own approach to the law . This essay will cover the role of reasoning in judicial decision making; how it allows judges to interpret statute and precedent, as well as leading the way for reform and the establishing of new case law. It will also cover the limitations of reasoning, some of which help keep the balance of power in check Such as binding precedent and the rule of law, as well as other subconscious factors that may influence a judge s ability to use reason when making a decision. Reasoning plays an important role in judicial decision making. No matter how many precedent cases, guidelines, and statutes may exist, reasoning will always be essential because it allows these factors to be interpreted on a case by case basis; this is necessary because statutes are too limited to be able to cover every ... Parodies and symbolic reference to the Bible in literary works, serve as an expression of the author s and time s religious view points. Keats, however, chose to use religious topics to inspire his works in other ways. Robert Ryan says, Keats decisively repudiated the Christianity of their time as incorrigibly dishonest and pernicious. (Ryan 5). Ryan s statement along with the symbolism in The Eve of St. Agnes makes me believe Keats to have preferred the old religion over the new. One religious interpretation of The Eve of St. Agnes was brought about by Jack Stillinger in his book The Hoodwinking of Madeline. Stillinger relates Madeline s dream on the Eve of St. Agnes to that of Adam s while he is dreaming of the creation of Eve. Madeline was dreaming of her future husband, and when she awoke she found Porphyro in her bed. This thought of imagination turning to truth is the same case of when Adam awakes from his dream, and he finds his dream has come true. • 31. Walter Mead Isolationism According to historians there are a multitude of misconceptions surrounding Americas foreign policy in its earliest days. Perhaps the biggest one being the misunderstanding that is, America was an isolationist country at it s founding. With that being said, how have historians assessed whether or not the United Stateswas an isolationist country from its founding through 1815? This question is best answered by looking at the United States diplomatic interactions with other countries, and its unbeknownst cultural affinity with Britain. Once we look at these two things its rather difficult to say America was an isolationist country from its founding through 1815. To start, it s imperative to understand the meaning of the word isolationist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mead states the first treaty America signed in 1778, which was a military alliance with France goes directly against isolationist tendencies. This also erodes Kaplan s point of the U.S. not forming alliances with other countries. Furthermore Mead essentially says from 1778 1793 the United States is beholden to assist France in any foreign conflict they are involved in. However France hadn t engaged in war until 1793, which was when the United States signed the proclamation of neutrality proclaiming neutral in the war between Britain and France. Mead argues George Washington didn t sign this because he wanted America to be an isolationist country, but he signed it because America was so new of a country Washington didn t want to fight a messy European war that could eventually lead to Americas demise. Additionally Mead states, Washington signed the proclamation so the United States could maintain its sovereign independence, and that it had absolutely nothing to do with attempting to be an isolationist state. Furthermore Mead argues that only thirteen years after the United States constitution was ratified, they had participated in their first foreign war. This was when the U.S. allied with Sweden in the Tripolitan War against the North African Barbary States. Mead follows this up by pointing to the quote said by one of the United States founding fathers Thomas Paine. After they won the Tripolitan War. Paine says, The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind. Mead essentially states that Paine s quote expressed to the people that the United States was willing to do everything in their power, including foreign intervention to prescribe the rest of the world human liberties, and the right to self government that were staples in America at the current time. • 33. Medical School Should Be A Medical Program There are thousands universities/colleges in the United States that have a medical school/program. For those students interested in going into the medical field, deciding on what college to attend can be very tricky. Students always want to attend the best university out there, but that isn t always the easiest decision because of certain road blocks. For example, those who live in Arizona have the chance to go to U of A; there is also the opportunity to go to U of W (University of Washington). While both schools have a medical program, the University of Washington has more to offer Arizonian students than the University of Arizona. When students are looking into the medical school they should attend, they should look into the school s rank. According to Carleen Eaton, author of Getting into Medical School For Dummies, one of the factors that students should consider is the medical school rank. After the required years of undergrad and medical school are complete, students will have to go begin their residency. The school s ranking can help in that. According to the U.S.News and World Report Education, UW is ranked #1 Best Medical Schools: Primary Care and #8 Best Medical Schools: Research, while U of A is ranked #63 Best Medical Schools: Research, and #74 Best Medical Schools: Primary Care . This was most notably seen when the monkey would grab a leaf or stick, climb up to a branch, and sit there while eating. Foraging was when the monkey would walk or climb around to look for food, occasionally eating what he found. The monkey we observed was seen foraging arboreally by picking at leaves through the fence and terrestrially, where he would sift through the grass or debris on the ground to find things to eat. Nursing was defined as any time the monkey was seen nursing from his mother. Grooming was when the monkey groomed or was groomed by other monkeys. Sitting was when he was seated and not active. The scientific discovery (history) of arms trade has been around since the first crqeation of the cannon, but it has only been in the last century has the world seen an explosion in arms deals. The best way to categorize the history and politics of arms trade is during and after the Cold War, which began two years after World War II ended in 1945. During the Cold War there was no global market for arms trade, countries strictly only dealt with who they considered their allies. With the fall of nazi Germany it left two main superpowers for supplying arms, the USA and Russia. The US solely dealt and supplied arms with countries like the United Kingdom, France, Netherlands and Russia being a communist state at the time dealt with countries that had an influencing communist party in power like Cuba. Both superpowers however competed to influence destabilized countries in Africa, and in Latin America. After the Cold War ended in the late 1980 s early 1990 s the world saw a globalization of arms trade becoming an open market where the USA and Russia are able to deal with whatever country is willing to buy. In the article, Poverty Influences Children s Early Brain Development the author reports the effect that poverty has on the development of infants and young children s brain size. Developing children are portrayed as passive, relying on the guidance of parents, caretakers and the community, rather than being seen as active agents who can utilize an innate ability to learn, and overcome any obstacles, including poverty. The author focuses on the idea that children, while developing, are dependent on stimulation from others: parents, relatives, caregivers and the environment to learn socio emotional skills that impact their ability to learn in the future.
