Working Title: Insomnia
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience: The target audience for this product is 16 to 24 year olds, which works perfectly for the
genre of the artist (Indie Rock) as it is their biggest demographic. Although not much difference
can be found between the quantities of male to female listeners, I’ve found that the already
existing members of the audience are more likely to follow the genre and artist on different media
platforms such as music magazines. The social demographic is most likely in higher education or
university, as a majority of listeners are students, typically in subjects such as humanities, art and
design, personal care and service or media. This product is likely to appeal to this group as it will
represent what is found in the target audiences psychographics, such as spending time with
friends, feeling like music has a great importance to them and have a lot of free time to make
mistakes and memories .The target audience for The Wombats is predominantly White British as
is with most Indie Rock bands. There doesn’t seem to be any specific sexuality that the target
audience would lean towards which allows more creative freedom. The NRS social grades that are
likely to be found amongst listeners are C1 (lower middle class) and B (middle class). On to
Gratifications, the reasons for consumption of this product are likely to be Personal Identity and
Integration.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Since the beginning of this year, I’ve gained more experience in two terms than I have in 3 years of
GCSE and A-Level media due to the hands on approach and time committed to the course. I
understand editing footage so much more and have learned new techniques that I’m excited to
apply in this project. I’ve always wanted to make products of a high standard and finally feel like
I’m closer to achieving the skillset to create something to be proud of, as before I would have to
lower the standards, as I knew I was unable to execute them.

Despite this being a music video project there is some sound editing I would like to include that will
create a link between the audio and visual. Something I’d like to try is using a steadicam or dolly to
achieve those smooth moving shots that would work great with the music and it’s something I’d
want more experience in. As this would be a new technique to work with, I’d need to put time into
research and looking at demonstrations on how to get the camera moving the way I want. The
Steadicam is equipment that is available from college, however the camera dolly is something that
will have to be improvised which will require some experimenting to ensure a smooth movement.
