This proposal outlines a radio show project focusing on music from the 1930s and 1940s era of World War II. The target audience is those aged 65 and older, as well as introducing younger generations to the genre. Research will include analyzing existing radio shows and audience demographics. Production will include recording music, sound effects, and narration to create a fully edited radio show. A poster will also be designed to promote the show. Progress will be evaluated weekly and upon completion through self-reflection and comparing the final products to initial goals and research models.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Working Title:
Fortitude through the Forties
Formidable Forties
Fabulous Forties
Fantastic Forties
Audience:
My audience is assumed to be all genders, predominantly of age groups 65 and above, people of
this generation traditionally grew up listening to the radio and currently make up nearly 20% of the
population (ONS Studies 2018.). Additionally it is hoped to introduce this style of music to younger
generations who may be aware of it but not necessarily the breadth and range that it covers.
My radio show is intended to remind, inform and entertain people of the music and famous artists
of the 30’s and 40’s era, particular in this case music of World War 2. I also hold the belief that
different styles of music and information can be learned and discovered by many different ages
and genders. The music and historical information used within the radio show will be the type of
music and information that one might hear, firstly in films covering that era and thereafter shows
such as Elaine Page on Sunday. This again, tends to be enjoyed by an audience of all genders
and ages.
My audience will fall into the social grades ABC1 and C2DE this is because I believe this music is
universal. It may have more resonance with those people who were specifically involved in the war
effort at ground level (CD2E) but as the war affected everyone in society the music was not
discriminatory. In addition, all 7 groups of Psychographic categories would be considered a target
audience because of the same reason.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have worked on many different projects however, I most enjoyed the print
and audio rotations, as I found them the most stimulating and I feel as though I learned many
skills. During the audio rotation it was the first time I created an audio project. I found that I really
needed to plan everything carefully and I was more motivated and passionate to develop my
ideas. It was the first time during the learning process that I was in control and could easily
visualise the final product.
I really wanted to expose myself to that creative process again but on a larger scale with more
freedom. Audio and Print are by far my favourite mediums and I wanted to try push myself in both,
however my real passion lies in the field of audio and it is this field I would like to work in, in the
future. Hence I wanted to improve, develop my skills and challenge myself over the course of this
project. By becoming more proficient through different recording techniques, as well as
familiarising and using editing software.
I really wanted to create something that looks and feels not only professional but authentic, my
vision was to create something where the listener can say ‘That’s good!’ not ‘That’s good’ without
the caveat, ‘For a Student Radio show’.
Finally in order to advertise the product visually, I will design a Poster to compliment the Radio
Show as this will allow me to challenge myself further and to expand my expertise in design
techniques.
I believe therefore that I can successfully fulfil the brief within the context and produce quality
products.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The project that I am going create is an informative musical radio show focusing on a specific
period in time. The concept of the project is quite linear; the basic idea stems around listening to a
certain song by a musical artist from the World War II era, the host will also inform the audience of
relevant facts connecting to the song and artist. I will also create a poster campaign to compliment
the main product of the radio show so there is synergy between them.
In preparation for this project I will research various existing radio shows, this will guide me into
have a clearer understanding of how a radio show is produced. Research will also give me a better
understanding of what is currently on offer in the market place currently. It will allow me to enhance
my products by influencing the technical aspects (e.g. tone and mood, editing, sound etc.) to

create a credible product. In addition I will research population demographics required for having a
better understanding of my audience and conduct an audience survey to have a clearer idea of my
audience preferences. With respect to my poster I will research historical styles of that era, I will
garner a better understanding of colours, fonts and images of the time to coordinate and represent
the theme of the final radio show.
By committing to this research it will allow me to ensure that not only it reaches the target audience
but ensures that the show will be authentic and represents the story that I want to tell.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
I will evaluate my work against existing models of similar products as well as my own existing work
in order to examine the progress I have made and what I need to do to improve my work and
ensure it is professional. I will also evaluate it on a weekly basis as well as daily, by reflecting on
the work I did on that day/during the week, this will ensure I have a good idea of what I did each
week and it will give me a reference point to provide me with a constant idea of what might need
improving or how I need to manage my time. This process will ensure that my final project will be
satisfactory. I will reflect on peer feedback plus a final self-reflection so I can review my own
thoughts of the product and have an understanding of potential audience’s thoughts too. Finally, I
will compare my completed product to my first intentions to gauge an understanding of where there
are both similarities and differences and if so, explore why this is.
