Process
The process for creating my experiment was simple compared to my final product as it was made of one
main audio recording in which I added sounds over that were relevant to key parts of the story for
example; when I was explaining how I would travel back and forth up the stairs into my room, I added
heavy footstep and door slams. The first step was recording the audio and then converting it into an
mp3 whilst I saved it to the computer. Once I listened to my audio I then took to freesound.com to
gather the sounds that I would need. After I had saved all the sounds in which I converted into MP3
files, I then imported them into premier over my own audio recording. The next step of production was
to carefully listen to my audio and place the sounds over it according to my dialogue however this
process was time consuming as it had to be precise and some of my sounds were too long which meant
I had to edit most of them so that they wouldn’t continue to play over irrelevant dialogue. The last step
was to edit my audio recording as it was too quiet which meant that some of the speech could not be
heard over the sounds I added.
Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
One element that I will include in my final product is that I will edit each audio
clip to ensure that every sound can be easily heard especially when I am
merged multiple sounds together at a time. Another element of my experiment
that I will include in my final product is that I will crop certain audio clips to
ensure that they are well timed so that they do not continue to play over
irrelevant audio or where pauses are supposed to be. An aspect that I did not
include in my experiment is the use of an introduction which is something that I
am going to include in my final product. I will include this to create the overall
atmosphere to my final production and also give the listener an idea on the
context.
