My first experiment was designing a web page with a banner and navigation tools. I arranged images of different sizes to draw the user's eye. My second experiment was an online photography portfolio with banners and borders around images as buttons. My third experiment was designing a magazine front page with a simple logo, underlined title, and details like price and advertisements. For my final product, I will include the layouts and navigation elements from my web page and portfolio experiments, and the logo design and formal color scheme from the magazine experiment. I aim to feature unique designs while drawing from successful aspects of existing products.

2. Process
My first production experiment was designing my web page. My first step was using the shape tool to create the banner at the top which was
originally just a black rectangle before I added the other features. I added this as a web banner is essential to create a web page as is used for
displaying your websites name but mainly for navigation. My second step was using the shape tools to add the borders for the images which will act
as buttons to navigate the user to that desired page. I arranged the borders and images in a different way to most websites as they are all in
different sizes and positions however they are still organised in a way that looks neat and professional. This feature can allow images and text of the
more popular searches to increase size so that it will stand out more and catch the users eye. In my product this applies to art, music and nature
and the same rule applies for the least popular searches as they appear to be smaller. I then added the text to the banner which included my
website name and navigation tools such as the search bar, log in and others that are necessary features to a website. The images and search bar
symbol were taken from google images however all images will be my own on my final product.

3. My second experiment was my online photography portfolio. My final product is going to be themed on the natural
environment therefore I used a collection of North Yorkshire photographs off the internet however all the photos on
my final product will be my own. Unlike my web page experiment, my portfolio also has a banner down the left side
of the screen with more specific navigation. Firstly, I added the two banners and then added my borders and
images. Similar to my web page, the black boxes around my images will act as buttons to take the user to the
desired page however the screenshot shown above is not my main page as this is one of many photo collections in
which my online portfolio features.

4. My third experiment was designing a front page for a photography
magazine. I wanted a logo alongside the title of the magazine therefore I
created the most simple one I could however I think proved to be more
effective. The title of the magazine is underlined twice by using the
rectangle via the shape tools, this was simply to make the title look more
distinct from other magazine titles. For the text I drew existing caption
from popular photography magazines. The last touches were adding the
finishing details on a magazine such as the price. Barcode and
advertisement in which I advertised a Canon g7x camera.

5. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• The majority of elements used in my production experiment will be used in my final product as I have ensured that the features on my web page are
those found on a legitimate website however I could always re arrange the layout or and think of a new website name/logo although I am very
pleased with the finished layout. Another element from my experiments that I will use in my final product is the overall layout of the photography
portfolio as I like various aspects about it including the colour scheme, layout and navigation.
• In terms of navigation for the magazine, there is no text featuring page numbers however the subheadings and captions on the front indicates what
content it features. There is also a web address featured at the top of the front page to direct viewers to the magazines web page for additional
information. The layout is very similar to various existing products however the unique features are the logo design and text featured. This is a
strength of my product as designing magazine covers can be difficult in terms of variation of layout however I still featured my own logo design and
text. The color scheme had a slight variation in color however still only used colors that would be consider more formal to stick to the overall theme
of the magazine. These are aspects that I will include in my finishing product.
• My photography portfolio experiment featured a wide variety of navigation however this is not something that I will include in my finishing product.
This is to avoid the portfolio to look to similar to another website alongside the two other products. The layout and color scheme are similar to a few
existing products however my own unique designs and altercations have been featured which is something that I am going to include in my final
product.
