Daniel Thompson created a podcast by gathering sound effects from YouTube, recording voiceovers on his phone, and editing the audio files in Audacity. He added voice recordings, backing music, and sound effects to the project. Thompson edited the recordings by cutting, pasting, fading tools to blend the elements together into a cohesive podcast. He played the final product to check it was satisfactory before exporting it as an mp3 file.

2. Process
• First off, I needed to collect the necessary
sound effects to use in my product. Sounds
such as gongs and battle cries were taken
from YouTube to a video converting website
and changed into mp3 files. They were then
available to use on the audio software. I did
not have audition to use at the time so I used
Audacity as an alternative.
3. Process
• The next step was to record the voice over for
the podcast. I made sure to record in short
bursts so that it would be easier to edit and
mix up later on. I used my phone to record the
narrations and then, using the AirMore app, I
sent the files to my PC. The files from the
voice recorder were AAC and therefor wasn’t
supported by Audacity so I had to convert
them the same way as the YouTube videos to
be usable in the software.
4. Process
• After the files were all gathered, I added in the
voice recordings in their correct order and
edited any small mistakes I made to make it
sound better. I used cutting, pasting, and
tempo changer tools to help blend the sounds
into one professional sounding podcast. I also
used the fading tool in the ending to ease the
audience out of the experience and show
clearly that the end of the podcast is near.
5. Process
• Once the voice files were in place and ready, I
was then able to add in the backing music in a
separate channel. I would have to use the
audio control tool to turn it down as the music
was louder than my voice. I had to get it to the
perfect point at which my voice was audible,
the music was still clear and the sound effects
that were soon to be added in would be able
to be heard clearly.
6. Process
• Next, the sound effects were to be added. As
stated in the last slide, I had ensured that
there was plenty of space for the sound
effects and made everything quieter except
for the voice files so that the audience would
hear everything important better. I used the
copying and pasting and cutting tools to loop
the sounds and music when needed as
sometimes they were either too long or short
for what I wanted them for.
7. Process
• Once this was done, I played the whole
session through a couple times to check it was
satisfactory and then proceeded to export it. I
made sure it was an mp3 file so that I could
play it anywhere otherwise if I’d have saved it
as an audacity file or similar, I would not have
been able to play what was made.
