3. Locations
• In going to use lots of different locations in my project. One of
which is off location as it is the studio. The images taken in there
will mainly be for the fake website that I'm making. This I because
on the website I want a mixture of pics in different locations so they
will be combined with the on locations pics as well. A studio will
also be good for the images that need the lighting to be controlled.
On location it depends what the lighting is like because if it's in a
very light setting you can't really make it much darker until
postproduction so the studio will give us more freedom. The studio
also means that we don’t need to get permission or access to
anywhere on location. We can just go in and start straight away. I
am also at college 3 days a week, so I don’t need to travel to any
locations as I'm already there and the people that are helping me
are there too.
4. Recce
Location
Is it suitable for
production? Why/Why not Risks
How can they be
Prevented?
Studio Yes It is a quiet environment
with little to no obstructions.
We can also do production in
there any time of day with
no issues.
Could trip on wires
connecting to lights, camera
etc
Make sure all wires are out
of the way in areas that
people will be frequently
walking by. And make sure
everyone in the room know
where they know if they
can't be moved.
Knaresborough Castle Yes and No. It is suitable for the fact that
we don’t need to get
permission for anyone to go
and there and take pictures.
A reason that makes it
unsuitable is that it is usually
quite a busy area especially
during holidays which is
when I plan to go. So, I will
have to go either really early
in the morning or really late
at night. Or find a spot
where no one is.
Need to be careful as we are
taking pics on top of a cliff at
the castle.
Don’t stand on the edge and
stay at a safe distance.
5. Equipment
Equipment needed:
• Camera (pre booked at college) (Pickup on 6th
April)
• Battery (pre booked at college) (Pickup on 6th
April)
• SD card (pre booked at college) (Pickup on 6th
April)
• Tripod (Already owned at home) (Pickup on
6th April)
6. Equipment
(Clothing)
• Since the theme for my photography is
teenager clothing will need different brand
clothes for my production:
• Boohoo man: Grey Tracksuit, Black and white
trainers.
• Superdry: Joggers, Hoodie, Coat
• Nike: Grey Joggers, T-shirt, Black jacket
7. Facilities
• I will be editing my photos in two different
locations. One will be at home. I already have
a laptop with Photoshop installed on it, so I
already have everything I need. And the
second place will be college. College already
as photoshop so I have everything there as
well. I won't need any additional facilities or
software.
10. Storyboarding
• Your storyboard should bring your idea to life
• Provide an idea of the sequencing of you video
• Provides a basis for production
• Suggested online storyboard creators are:
– http://www.pixton.com [very complicated]
– http://www.storyjumper.com [allows you to insert your own
images]
• Alternatively, hand draw or photograph your storyboard
and scan or copy to insert it onto your slides
11. Shot List
• Your shot list should contain the sequential breakdown
of what you need to shoot for your video
• It should work in partnership with your storyboard
• It will be your working document when you film
• It should contain the shot number, scene number, shot
description, framing and action you will see
• It should also have information on performers in the
scene and other props, etc
• Shot list template is on Blackboard in the pre-
production folder.
12. Layout Plans
• Sketches and digital mock ups using existing
images off google to represent what your
products will look like.
• Sketch some ideas on paper, even if very basic.
Scan them in and add them to the document.
• Use the colours, fonts and similar images to
construct digital layout plans.
• Qualify each creative choice, providing a rationale
of why you chose it; “I used Red because…” “I
have the model looking at camera because…” etc.
15. Script/Copy
• You will need to write out any copy or script
that you will be using. You will need to do this
as a separate document or you can include it
here.
– Magazine articles (double page spread) are
around 1400 words.
– Audio often has between 100 – 130 words per
minute.
– Films vary, but even if it has no dialogue, you need
to script what will happen visually.
17. Production Group Info
• Include names, contact info, and defined roles
at difference stages of production, using a
table is suggested
18. Location information
• Information and images of your location[s] for
filming/recording/shooting.
• This means when you will arrive, when it will be
available, when you model/cast should arrive, when
you will finish, access to food/water, access to toilets,
nearby travel links etc etc.
• You should have address details, clearance/permissions
for filming, recce photos and floorplans [including
camera, equipment and cast/crew layouts]
• Where possible, have a plan B fallback location option
• Assess each location for any issues and suggest
solutions
20. Production Schedule
• Your schedule should budget a total of 10
hours for production, that is for the filming
and editing of your project.
• You should plan when you’re filming and how
you intend to use the in class days on your
timetable/class schedule

24. Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Could trip on wires in the studio Tuck all wires under tables or just somewhere
out the way. Or if they can't be moved make
sure that everyone in the room know where
they are.
Editor's Notes
You need to identify locations and plan a recce.
What are the limitations and risks, eg distance, access, cost, weather? How will you manage this?
What do you need? E.g. equipment, resources? Mostly from college, but who do you need to speak to get this kit? What is available? When?
Look at equipment hire places, etc
Where will you edit your video? Do you need any other specialist facilities…? Software?
CREW: What is you team? Who is in it? What are each team members strengths/weaknesses? When are they available?
CAST: Do you need any external performers? When are they available? Cost implications? Will you have to feed them? Transport them?
Other personnel? Is anyone else helping you?
Add rationales for creative choices. Use images and descriptions. One slide per character/outfit.
Black out all contact details as this will be going online, but you will still need to collect these.
If under 16 a parent must confirm this. One agreement per model/actor
