This document discusses a study on using iron filings to adsorb methylene blue dye from aqueous solutions. Twenty-five batch and continuous experiments were conducted at different dye concentrations, iron filing amounts, and flow rates. Batch experiments showed the adsorption capacity was 24.47 mg/g for untreated iron filings and 25.03 mg/g for treated iron filings, both fitting the Langmuir isotherm model well. Column experiments found continuous flow adsorption of the dye was feasible but efficiency decreased over long term operation due to changes in column properties and reaction kinetics.
