The testes are ellipsoid-shaped organs that develop in the abdomen and descend into the scrotum before birth. Each testis is covered by the tunica vaginalis and tunica albuginea. The epididymis is a coiled duct that courses along the back of each testis. It is divided into the head, body, and tail. The ductus deferens transports sperm from the tail of the epididymis through the inguinal canal into the pelvis and urethra. The seminal vesicles secrete fluid and join with the ductus deferens to form the ejaculatory ducts, which drain into the prostatic urethra.
