Benefit Of The Columbian Exchange
This essay will explore whether the old world or the Americas benefitted more from the Columbian
exchange. The Columbian exchange was the transfer of plants, animals, ideas and more between the
Americas and the old world during the 15th and 16th century. This essay will first talk about the
slavery that happened during the Columbian exchange. Secondly the deaths that were caused by the
transfer of diseases through the Columbian exchange. Lastly how the exchange of foods through the
Columbian exchange lead to an agricultural revolution.
Body
During the Columbian exchange when Europeans went to explore, create colonies and conquer land,
native Americans would often be captured as slaves and exported back to Europe. For example, after
Pizarro won the battle against the Incas, Pizarro captured the rest of the Incas as slaves. Europeans
would also go to America to find goods such as gold and silver or wealth in general. The Europeans
then found wealth in Slavery. By the 15th century slavery was well established and became very
popular. On his second expedition to the Americas in 1493, Christopher Columbus enslaved over 500
Native Americans and sent them to Spain. (American Indians as Slaves). These slaves were often used
to cultivate tobacco and were over worked (Slavery among Native Americans in the United States).
The old world benefitted more than the Americas in this case. The Americans were harshly treated and
were stripped of rights as slaves while the old world used

We can include these five questions in the daily status meetings:
Q1) What did we do right today?
Q2) What did we do wrong today?
Q3) What was the major hurdle we encountered?
Q4) What should we avoid tomorrow?
Q5) What were the major learning s?
A proper record should be maintained of such meetings for future reference as well.

The Vision For Vital Connect Programs Essay
4. RESOLUTION The vision for vital connect program is to create a model for coordinated,
collaborative and coordinated patient care system. This model can be implemented by creating a well
structured and connected province wide health information technology solution. This HIT solution
will consist of following: Provincial clinical information system E referral system Personal health
portal 4.1 Provincial clinical information system EHR is defined in the Health Information Act (HIA)
[4] as the interconnected electronic health information which is developed to be shared across
authorized users in a secure environment . By creating a vast network of interconnected repositories,
EHR will provide a easy access to health information about individual patients to care, providers. To
create a province wide clinical information system, the first challenge is to connect individual
Electronic Medical Records (EMR) that may be concise to a particular healthcare facility. Currently,
more than 1200 standalone EMR systems exist within Alberta Health Services (AHS), with very few
of them interconnected and most of them outdated. The vision to create a province wide fully
connected clinical information system can be fulfilled if all these stand alone systems are updated and
attached to each other to facilitate seamless flow of information and instructions. There are various
advantages to using provincial CIS: Better Patient Care Increased efficiency Better quality of care

Social And Cultural Geography Research
Choose two journal articles* and consider what these articles tell us about:
a) the socially constructed, spatially contingent and performative aspects of social identities and b) the
practice of doing social and cultural geography research.
Social and cultural geography is an area of study that has become increasingly popular within
Geography. With the expansion of multi cultural societies and the increased diversification of cultures
in addition to cultural practice, globally research into social and cultural geographies has boomed.
These two diverse fields have risen in popularity among geographers and academics; meaning there is
a significant amount of research and academic papers on this broad area of study. The fact is since the
evolution of post structuralist ideas in the mid 20th century, in addition to postcolonial, and feminist
study around the 1990s. A shift from an emphasis on identity to difference in geographical literature
has become apparent. Geographers have since engaged more frequently with gender, sexuality, race ,
and class differences, by investigating how they are constituted in relation to peoples and places. This
has brought about vast levels of research casing all social identities. However for the purpose of this
essay, I will be focusing on the social identities of Gender and Race as both social and cultural
attitudes in these areas have transformed immensely in the last century. As previously mentioned there
is a vast amount of

Fieldwork Educator Paper
I have seen my fieldwork educator document a great deal. She has three computers that she can use
throughout the facility. She has her own personal office computer, one in the children s room, and one
in adult section of the gym. There is electronic and handwritten documentation. Each patient has a
folder, which the OT brings with her to each session. This is the patient s chart. It has the patient s
referral, evaluation, and any progress notes. The OT writes what they do in therapy on a piece of paper
that includes how many repetitions the client does for each motion and at which bands/weights. The
OT uses the computer some during the session, but she told me it was just for the easy parts.
Afterwards, the OT writes the therapy session down

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Breaking The Line By Samuel Freedman
Samuel Freedman uses rhetoric to call white American sports fan to attention. Although it is only a
four page article, Freedman effectively uses the three main rhetorical techniques of pathos, ethos, and
logos. By appealing to all aspects of the readers analytical senses, this helps Freedman strongly
portray his message for justice in the sports community for not only black athletes, but for anyone of
any race or background.
Right away Samuel Freedman uses pathos in his article to appeal to the audience s emotions. He
focuses on the example of Ray Lewis, a former NFL superstar who has recently been scrutinized by
thousands of fans who used to adore him. Ray Lewis joined the Baltimore Ravens on the field during
the second week of the NFL season. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After including the counterclaim from Douglas Hartmann, Freedman quickly refutes its accuracy by
saying, The reality is that modern American sports have always been political. Segregation was reified
by all white baseball and football leagues(3). Freedman then proceeds to talk about some of the most
acclaimed athletes of all time such as Jackie Robinson, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, and Kareem Abdul
Jabbar. He mentions how all of these athletes are in the hall of fame in their respected sports. It is
important to note that Ray Lewis will also be enshrined into the National Football Hall of Fame in
August, and he too took a political stand. The logic being exemplified here is that all the athletes listed
above were some of the best ever at what they did. This white stardom did not stop them from risking
it all by fighting for equality for people of all backgrounds. This calls out white America for its
immoral treatment of not only Ray Lewis, but any other athlete that is fighting for justice for all. This
catches the pathos side of things by sticking to the logical side of the

The newspaper was made so that the people could know what was happening around their community.
Propaganda was very popular with the colonists even though most of the content that was printed in

the newspapers. The newspaper would show dramatize images to get the colonists to buy their
newspaper just as patriot Paul Revere did for the printing of the Boston Massacre. He showed and
exaggerated image of what had happened at the Boston Massacre. The newspaper that was published

had started to attack the British barracks and then started to attack Hugh White, who got surrounded
by the mob and then came Captain Thomas Preston to help him with his soldiers. The angry crowd,
then started to throw snowballs and other items at the British soldiers which infuriated the soldiers.
The British soldiers under Captain Thomas Presto started to fire at the crowd and killed 5 men and
wounded others. When the Boston Massacre happened, it was shown in the newspaper a few days
after the event had occurred. The newspaper told the event a little different to what happened, it
changed people s views, and it affected all the colonists. After the Boston Massacre, many people
started to print newspapers to spread the news quickly of the catastrophic event that had occurred in

A Summary Of King Martin XII. 5
King Martin XII.5 was a significant man with an extraordinarily elongated neck. He is the king of
Martinsville. Martinsville is very grubby and musty. It is very dull and unappetizing to live in. The
citizens live in appalling, congested homes that are dirt filling with thousands of rats living side by
side with the humans. The citizens also are mistreated on a daily basis. Unfortunately, King Martin
XII.5 s extraordinary neck turns him into a malevolent king who abuses his power and ruins his
citizens lives. King Martin XII.5 s neck is 12 ½ feet long. Many people died daily from the abusing
from King Martin XII.5´s neck by getting swept off the ground with King Martin XII.5 s neck so high
that they fall to their death.
The citizens of Martinsville are exhausted of the abusing of King Martin XII.5, however, they are too
afraid to ask Josiah, the wisest guy in the universe, to help kill King Martin XII.5. They are afraid to
ask because if you ask Josiah a simple minded question then you ll be killed. The citizens work up the
boldness to ask Josiah to help kill King Martin XII.5. They ask very courteously and try to persuade
Josiah to help them. Josiah is very stubborn and if he doesn t want to help someone, he won´t help

An innocent man was convicted of a crime he did not commit. Several reasons exist. First: Bennett
had a previous arrest record and he seemed to fit the description of the killer. Second: the police were
under pressure to solve the crime. And finally above all, because the public was clamoring for some
way to express its indignation (for the death of Mrs. Stuart), found Willie Bennett a plausible target
(Baird and Rosenbaum 97). Cases just like this one lead to innocent men found guilty with the
potential of being put on death row. Today, there are over three thousand prisoners on death row.
Between 1972 and 1996, 68 death row inmates were released because proof of their innocence was
found (Acker, Bohm, and Lanier 232). Only after struggling with expensive lawyers and a harsh
system of justice were Cusson 3 the majority of these prisoners finally able to receive a second
chance. It is preposterous to think that of the three thousand prisoners on death row, all of them are
guilty and deserve the death penalty. The death penalty is unfair for several reasons, one of them being
that legal assistance for inmates on death row has become increasingly difficult to find. Prisoners on
death row filing for appeal have little or no chance for receiving a fair second chance. Most of the
legal work is done for free, and even lawyers dedicated to making sure these prisoners receive all their
legal rights cannot be expected to spend all of their time

Who Is Anne Bradstreet Love Her Husband
Anne Bradstreet is not necessarily in love with her husband, but with the concept of a fairy tale love
story. Regardless of how nurturing and loving Bradstreet s relationship with Simon may have been,
the flawless picture she paints of their love is unusual for the time and place. The poem Before the
Birth of One of Her Children, we see direct orders to her husband being given from the grave. Her
commanding tone displays the dominance she plays in the relationship. In the work My Dear and
Loving Husband, Bradstreet speaks of how much she adores her husband, If ever two were one, then
surely we. If ever man were loved by wife, then thee. (108) She may have loved her husband to great
lengths, but the hyperbole is evident. It is clear that she is prideful of her dear and loving husband, but
there is a fine line between happiness and fiction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anne Bradstreet knows this to be true, especially with the absence of her political husband. Her
devotion and admiration for Sir. Simon Bradstreet can be seen in her poem My Dear and Loving
Husband, where she is writing to her husband. I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold, Or all
the riches that the East doth hold. (108) This description of her love is quite extravagant, and possibly
embellished. Due to her husband s work, he spent lots of time away from her. Bradstreet loves this
man so dearly, despite the fact he is rarely home. Life in the New World blessed her with a safe home
and religious freedom, that is what her love is truly for. She loves her home, her family, and safety,
and her freedom, all of this comes from her spouse. Out of obligation, she admires her husband. The

The First Advantage Of Cloud Computing
Body
Variety of Cloud Models
The first advantage of cloud computing is the variety of cloud models. There are three types of
deployment models used in the everyday; they are the following: public, hybrid, and private. Public
cloud is accessed by anyone on the internet through web applications and services. The hybrid cloud
contains many inside and outside developers used by many businesses. Lastly, the private cloud is
services only offered on a private network where no one outside the network can access. This model is
safer because the cloud is not open to data breaches (compared to a public cloud).
Cloud computing also offers three kind of services: Software as a service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a
service (IaaS), and Platform as a service (PaaS). The first one is software as a service; it is a single
application on the internet to be used by all people. On the client side, it requires no investment into
running servers needed on the other side. This service also requires less maintenance and is cheaper.
Some applications that use this service are Hotmail, Google Apps, Skype, and other 2.0 applications.
Infrastructure as a service has unlimited storage on the cloud, and they can expand and shrink the
storage space. This one requires no need of a server to be running. Some refer to it as Hardware as a
service or Haas. One benefit is you pay only for the amount of storage you use. Amazon s web
services are one of the major companies to offer Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and

Criminologist Personal Statement
What do you want be when you grow up ? A common question many are asked from an early age. The
answers are usually the same given by children; doctor, astronaut, and police officer. Then through
adolescent and teenage years these answers become more specific such as; marine biologists, brain
surgeon, and engineer. By the first year of college, most young adults are positive in their future career
choices. It was around this time that I answered the age old question for myself. I had set my heart on
becoming a Criminologist.
As a freshman in college I was fascinated and determined to learn what causes humans to make
certain decisions. The type of decisions that motivate an individual to commit a crime, that led me to

Earning a bachelor s degree in Psychology is by far my most important accomplishment. To go on and
receive a Master s degree in Criminal Justice would be an even bigger triumph. I know one look at my
official transcripts from Clemson University would make one believe that I did not take it seriously.
First let me explain, during my undergraduate years I spent a lot of years working a part time job to
financially take care of myself. My family did their best helping me with bills and money when they
could, but I was pretty much on my own. When I was attending Midlands Tech right after high school
I was working six days a week at a restaurant. In the mornings and afternoons I would attend class,
after that I would go straight to work. Once leaving work for the night I would usually spend the next
three to four hours doing homework and studying, and then I would wake up and do it all over again.
For the next year and half, I worked hard to be able to transfer to my dream university. As a person
who suffered from anxiety and depression at the time, attending college was a thought I didn t believe
would become a reality. Overcoming such a crippling mental disorder was a marvelous achievement.
Even during my time at Clemson my record doesn t speak very well, but I did not let the mental illness
stop me from attaining my degree. Eventually, I sought help for dealing with anxiety and depression.
This allowed me to focus somewhat better on school; regrettably I still was working full time. Not
being financially stable legitimately set me back on my grades. Which I regret the most is focusing on
paying for Clemson, and not spending more time concentrating on my school work. As previously
mentioned I do not want to make it seem like I was not passionate about my studies. Currently it s a
hindrance for my acceptance into Columbia College, but I do not regret all the lessons I learned, in the

receivables methods, ways to distinguish between tangible and intangible assets, the means to identify
the entries associated with acquisition, disposal, and sales of plant assets, and closed out the week by

The benefits are received for a number of years in future. The entry for a capital expenditure results
with an increase in the fixed asset of the entity. Revenue expenditures are expenditures that are
immediately charged against revenues as an expense (Weygandt, Kimmel, amp; Kieso, 2010 p. 409)
such as repair costs, maintenance charges, and renewal expenses. This expenditure helps maintain the
business and the effects are temporary due to the benefit is received within the accounting year. The
entry for revenue expenditure do not form part of the fixed asset cost, they are expensed in the income
statement in the time of when they were incurred. Accounts payables are short term debts a company
owes to its creditors. Notes payables are usually written contracts and long term debts companies have
promises to pay its creditors. Accrued expenses are recognized by a company before they are paid for.
An example of this would be a tax bill received from the town or city the company is located in. While
all of these are recognized as current liabilities on a company s financial reports they are all recorded
in different time frames. Account payables are recognized when they are incurred and the payment of
them is also due at the same time. Where both Notes payables and Accrued expenses are shown in the

Taking a Gap Year
A life without bills, kids, a significant other, or any worries sounds too good to be true. It may be hard
to realize with the stress of college and future plans, but seniors graduating high school have the
advantage to live this life if they want. High school seniors have many decsions to make before they
graduate. They have to decide if they are going to college, what college they are going to, what career
they may want to pursue, how to pay for everything ahead of them, and many more. Sometimes this
will get too overwhelming for them and cause them to not want to go to college right away. They plan
on going to college after a year on their own trying experience life before starting college. People call
this taking a gap year . Taking a gap year is a personal decision that takes commitment. People take
gap years for many reasons, but they will regret their decision because gap years usually turn out bad
or not the way the students want them to.
Vacations, meeting new people, getting a job, saving money, and moving out from a parent s house
seems like a fantasy and something that everybody would love to experience. This is what students
will do or plan to do in a gap year. A gap year helps students find out who they are and learn about the
world around them. Many students have found out it is not as great as they thought it would be. The

Reflection On The Republican Party
A little over two years ago, the Republican Party surprised me by electing its first African American

Whatever the reason, that was now the case and history was made. Not being of this party, I can not
speak directly to the affect he had on this party but what I can say is how much of his election made
me begin to see both parties moving forward and America finally beginning to turn the page on race

Hypovolemic Shock Case Study
Hypovolemic shock is an emergency condition caused by loss of whole blood (hemorrhage), plasma
(burns), or interstitial fluid (diaphoresis, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, emesis, diuresis, and
diarrhea) in large amounts. This makes the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body (Heller,
2014). The severe compromise in blood flow and therefore systemic perfusion contributes to cerebral,
renal, or hepatic ischemia and possible organ failure. It is the most common type of shock in children
with dehydration and trauma being the most common factors (McCance, 2010. pp 1703).
Pathophysiology
Hypovolemic shock begins to develop after losing about a fifth or more of the normal amount of blood
in the body resulting in compensatory vasoconstriction, increased SVR (systemic vascular resistance)
and increased afterload in order to improve blood pressure and perfusion to core organs of the body
(Heller, 2014) (McCance, 2010. pp 1672). Compensatory mechanisms have limited use and benefit.
Hypovolemic compensations:
Systemic vasoconstriction increases left ventricular afterload and myocardial oxygen consumption and
may produce tissue ischemia.
Prolonged tachycardia may impair subendocardial blood flow and increase myocardial oxygen
consumption; both may ultimately contribute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Journey into Hell in Heart of Darkness
In Joseph Conrad s novel, Heart of Darkness the environment is often symbolic as well as literal. The
novel contains both the frame narrator, an anonymous member of the Nellie , representing the
dominant society, and more importantly the primary narrator, Marlow, who too, is a product of the
dominant society. For the novel s narrator, Marlow, the journey up the Congo River to the heart of
darkness is reminiscent of Guido s journey into hell in Dante s Inferno, with these literary allusion
always present, through forms of intense imagery. The landscape takes on a hellish nature and the
wilderness is personified. Death is omnipresent and this is reflected in the death imagery used ... Show

Darkness is used throughout the novel to symbolize savagery, death and the unknown. Marlow s
observation is reinforced when London is described as a brooding gloom . In thisinstance the physical
description of the city serves to reinforce Marlow s theory, and refute the earlier judgments of the
frame narrator.
Marlow tells of his quest for employment, that is, an unnamed city in Brussels, the sepulchral city that
he visits to sign his contract. Conrad uses much death imagery to describe the physical appearance of
the city. He describes it: as having the appearance of a well kept alley in a cemetery . Marlow travels
to the dead centre of the city. He observes grass sprouting between the stones just as grass sprouts
between tombstones. This environmental imagery is symbolic of the hypocrisy that Marlow
Witnesses, the exploitation that forms the basis of the company and the universality of death. All three
interpretations of the applicability of the imagery are reasonable however, the death imagery also links
to Marlow s apprehension. Marlow says that he felt as if he had been let into some conspiracy . The
death imagery associated with this, the first leg of Marlows journey on his way to his farthest point of
navigation and culminating point of (his) experience is appropriate as it relates strongly to

There are various agents who initiates and works really hard day and night to overcome the criminal

Rape cases, even after various amendments and legally sound acts are even not overcome this
problem. There are various agents who actively participates are as follows:
National commission for women: NCW along with the Law commission of India had recommended a
separate part called unlawful sexual contact , which was defined to cover the act of touching, directly
or indirectly, with a part of the body or with an object, any part of the body of another person with
sexual intent and without the consent of such other person. There was also need to remove that very
Victorian phrase of outraging the modesty of a woman in Section 354 and replacing it with violating
the bodily integrity of the woman , which allows for a graded recognition of non penetrative types of
sexual assault.
There was need too for expansion the scope of Section 509 in the Bill to include acts and behaviour,
which do not engage physical contact but is proposed to harass or insult or humiliate women, with or
without sexual mean. Incidents like sexual harassment including sexual harassment at work places,
blackmailing, annoyance including cyber stalking, stripping, tonsuring, etc., which are presently

City Of God Analysis
The Brazilian film City of God, directed by Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund provides an insiders
look on the lives of inner city young adults involved in organized crime as they attempt to survive and
navigate the slums in which they live. The film, loosely based on real life events, is a commentary on
the cyclical nature of violence in the titular City of God, a slum located in Rio de Janeiro. The film
chooses to document the rise and fall of crime in Rio de Janeiro that took place from the 1960s to the
1980s and the lives of inner city kids involved in it. It toys with themes of cyclical and inescapable
violence; suffocation; and the inexorable nature of poverty and involvement in a life of organized
crime and gang activities through the employment of several editing techniques throughout the length
of the film such as split frame simultaneous shots, quick and violent cuts, and POV shots. Notably,
these techniques are primarily used when shooting Rocket, the main character of the film and a
member of the favela. Rocket s place in the story is the main vessel for pushing these themes in the
story as the film chooses to focus on his emotions regarding the favela. Overall these editing
techniques work to provide the representation of the favela as suffocating and small; a representation
that is tied intrinsically with themes of poverty and the certainty of violence.
Throughout the length of the film the viewers watch as the plot seemingly goes in circles, helpless to

ii. With the aid of diagrams explain the difference between a Series and Parallel Hybrid Electric
Vehicles.
Both series and parallel hybrid electric vehicles primarily contain the same parts, however, they are
configured differently. Both types of hybrid electric vehicle contain a gasoline based engine, a battery
which is rechargeable, an inverter, transmission and an electric motor. The main difference between
the two, disregarding the difference in sizes of the separate parts, is that series hybrid electric vehicles
have a generator whereas in a parallel hybrid electric vehicle the motor acts as a generator. Moreover,
in a parallel HEV, the engine is directly connected to the wheels, however this is not the case in a
series HEV.
In a parallel HEV, the motor and the combustion engine work in accordance to power the vehicle. The
gasoline based engine and motor are both connected to the transmission. As fuel travels to the engine
or the battery is turned on, it propels the car.
In a series HEV, the motor is charged by the battery or generator (powered by gasoline based engine).
Thus, the gasoline engine does not directly propel the car, unlike in the parallel HEV. The transmission
is responsible for determining how much energy is required and whether to retrieve it from the battery
or the generator. Pictured above, is a parallel HEV system, as made obvious by the position of the

This bias can result in children presenting an underestimation or overestimation of the symptoms they

Analysis Of The Movie Juice
Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher and scientist that laid much of the foundation for Western
philosophy. He was a person who sought out explanations that were unorthodox. His principles of
common sense were built on naturalism and self realization, which greatly influenced the world. His
systematic concept of logic touched upon ethics. As an illustration, in the movie Juice, some of
Aristotle s beliefs and principles on friendship, character, and happiness are heavily portrayed
throughout the film. The movie Juice, is a story of four male teenage friends from Harlem. They re
causing trouble around the neighborhood and running away from their responsibilities to gain respect;
or what some may call the juice. Earlier in the film, a group of males confronted them on the street
with a gun. Ever since, the antagonist Bishop, Tupac Shakur, has the mentality of, Do you respect me,
or do you respect my gun? The answer is: You don t have that gun, there s no way we re having this
conversation. Ultimately, Bishop obtained a gun and wanted to get the juice by holding up the local
corner store. On the other hand, the protagonist Q, Omar Epps, is an aspiring DJ who wants to make it
out of his circumstances. He didn t want anything to do with the stick up and focused on a DJ contest
at a local club. However, Bishop took on the revenge, eat or be eaten mentality, and pestered them into
coming along. An unexpected twist in the plot is apparent when the store owner

Sousa wrote 136 marches, published by the Sam Fox Publishing Company beginning in 1917 and

Marquette University, and University of Minnesota.
Some of the most popular marches Sousa wrote included Semper Fidelis (1888) (Official March of the

Ruby Ridge
There were many events that caused the bombing that could have been prevented by the federal
government. One of the main events that was turned into a motive for the bombing was the raid on
Ruby Ridge. As Gunn said, the raid on Ruby Ridge was started when federal agents went to the home
of Randy Weaver, a notorious white supremacist leader, to arrest him for failing to report in court for a
weapons charge (647). The agents were met with much resistance by Weaver and his son. As Gunn
states, Weaver s son started a shootout with the agents on August 22, 1992, which lead to a week long
standoff between the agents and Weaver s family (647). Marcovitz states, the standoff ended on

As Gunn says, there was little shooting between the two sides after the first couple of days and the
majority of the standoff was spent negotiating (650). Marcovitz states, after not much other progress
the federal agents decided to flush out the compound with tear gas; it forced a few people out but a
majority of them stayed in the compound, setting fires and even shooting themselves (70). Marcovitz
also states, on April 19, 1993 the siege was concluded and the body count reached eighty five,
including Koresh who was shot (70). This event, especially so close to the Ruby Ridge incident,
sparked even more outrage among white supremacists and they called for retaliation against all the
agents and anyone else involved in the siege. As Gunn says, McVeigh who was freshly out of the army
and who was slowly spiraling decided to throw himself into the passion he felt towards the anti
government groups (647). If the federal government hadn t used such excessive force than the public
backlash would have been less severe and would possibly have stopped radicals like McVeigh from
seeking revenge. The author states, Investigators later learned that McVeigh hated the government for

ABSTRACT
The main objective of Zakah(Alms giving) is to alleviate poverty in the Muslim community .The
system is specifically designed to take care of the needs of the poor and the needy from the Muslim
Ummah. In this paper, a close look at this vital role of Zakah is made, indicating that the present
economic hardship in the Muslim Ummah could be easily solved through the institution of Zakah. It
was practiced during the time of the Prophet (S.A.W.) and his Companions, and subsequently in the
period of Umar ibn Abdul Aziz. Therefore, the system of Zakah is strongly recommended to be used
for poverty alleviation in Nigerian Muslim communities.

Introduction
Zakah is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims are obliged by the Shari`ah to take a portion of their
wealth and give to the poor as charity. This is called Zakah. It is designed to take care of the basic
economic needs of the poor people and alleviate the problem of poverty in society. Our society today
is pervaded with poverty, hunger and unemployment. The Government has failed in discharging its
responsibilities of providing basic employment for its citizens, many wealthy Muslims have refused to

Dbq Sugar Analysis
The sugar trade was positively impacted by a rapidly increasing demand for sugar, along with the
European desire to colonize the Caribbean islands, and the growing ease of purchasing slaves as a
means of labor. As more sugar was being produced, the demand for it in Europe grew at an extremely
swift rate. The production of the sugar was taking place in the Caribbean, which at the time was being
colonized by major European nations such as England, France, and Spain. These islands were the ideal
location for the growth of sugar cane, which was the basis for the manufacturing of sugar. To help
supply the high demand for sugar, there was a rise in the use of slaves as a cheap and efficient method
of labor.

The location and climate of the colonized islands are discussed in Documents 1 and 2. By 1750,
France, Spain, and Britain had established colonies on the Caribbean islands. (Doc. 1) The discovery
and settlement upon those islands enabled the trade of crops that were cultivated there, such as sugar
cane. Two of those islands, Jamaica and Barbados, had close to ideal climates for the production of
cane sugar. (Doc. 2) Such climates provided further ease in the manufacturing of cane sugar, in that
they generated more product at a much swifter rate. With the islands having been settled on, and the
growth of sugar cane accelerating, there needed to be plantations in order to convert the canes into
sugar. The systems on which the plantations functioned are expanded upon in Documents 6 and 7.
William Belgrove detailed the necessary provisions for a five hundred acre plantation, which included
nine different houses, three hundred slaves, and two hundred twenty five animals. (Doc. 6) The
information presented exhibits that there are a lot of requirements in order to smoothly run a large
sugar plantation, though it was possible. The plantations were almost always owned by wealthy
families, most of whom were absent from the estates they owned. (Doc. 7) The value of the sugar
trade was immediately recognized by these wealthy families, so as a result, they were able to

Literary Analysis Of Shrek 2
Nowadays, when we hear Shrek we think of him as an icon of the internet. In a world where
appearances seem to be societies focus, Shrek 2 reminds us that looks are fleeting, but what is on the
inside is what is important. Shrek 2 is a movie written in 2014 that follows the main character, Shrek
an ogre, on his journey in the kingdom, Far Far Away as he tries to acquire the approval of his wife s,
Fiona also an ogre, parents which are the human king and queen of Far Far Away. Overwhelming, the
movie is able to depict a fantastic children s romantic fairytale by teaching a life lesson in the use a
medieval style with numerous references to pop culture and iconic soundtrack.
Although set in what seemingly resembles medieval times and the characters costumes fit the
backdrop, Shrek 2 presents modern references which enable the audience to realize the mockery of
today s world. Knowing that Fiona is a princess as well, we instantly know that Far Far Away is where
the royals live. The film creators draw this city in a way that looks strikingly similar to Hollywood. As
Shrek and Fiona arrive in front of her parents castle, crowds await them cheering. Royals are put in a
standard and admiration similar to those of celebrities, while the cheering crowds at the gate
resembles obsessive fans. The creator s use of this medieval Hollywood works well because people
are often idolized and idealized. Shrek displays an obvious hesitance on visiting the in laws since he is
aware his image

Ford Pinto Ethics Essay
Ford Pinto Case: The Invisible Corporate Human Pricetag
In this essay, I will argue that Ford Motor Company s business behavior was unethical as
demonstrated in the Ford Pinto Case. Ford did not reveal all the facts to consumers about a harmful
gas tank design in the Ford Pinto. They tried to justify their decision to sell an unsafe car by using a
Cost Benefit Analysis which determined it was cheaper to sell the cars without changing to a safer gas
tank. The price of not fixing the gas tanks is human injuries and fatalities. By choosing not to make
the Pinto a safer vehicle Ford placed a price on the head of every consumer. Ford s primary concern
was to maximize profits. Ford had a duty and ethical responsibility to customers to ... Show more

The Pinto was not to weigh an ounce over 2,000 pounds and not to cost a cent over 2,000. Iacocca
enforced these limits with an iron hand, Lee Iacocca was known for saying Safety doesn t sell . The
Pinto was released for sale with the flawed design. There are a few concerns about harmful behavior
of the FMC that should be discussed. A behavior is harmful when it wrongfully sets back the interest
of others and has a high risk of harm. Obviously, the gravity of harm in this case is very high being
that it is life threatening. Once a consumer has purchased the Pinto and drives it off the lot he is at risk
to getting rear ended, and burned to death by a car fire or explosion. Since the weight of this harm is
very severe, the low probability of the consumer having an accident doesn t discount Ford s unethical
behavior. Indeed, driving a Ford Pinto would place a consumer s life at risk. Also at stake are the
interests of Pinto passengers and drivers of other vehicles who certainly are not willing to risk their
lives so Ford can make an extra buck. Everyone has an interest in not getting injured or killed. Setting
back the interest of consumers isn t the only thing Ford Motor Company was responsible for.
Indubitably, the company wronged the consumers and passengers by violating their rights to not be

Legitimacy Of Anime
Legitimacy of Anime Although Japanese cartoons, known as anime, are not live action films, they are
a legitimate form of art, specifically film. Anime films contain themes relevant to societal issues,
which is depicted in compelling, riveting ways not obtainable through live action films, which touches
the audience. The film Graves of the Fireflies, directed by Isao Takahata in 1988, is a prime example
of an anime film that provokes thought and compels emotion. Graves of the Fireflies is an animated
adaption of a semi autobiographical short story by the same name, written by Akiyuki Nosaka in 1967.
The movie is set in Kobe, Japan during the latter stages of World War II and follows a brother and
sister as the struggle to survive trying to scavenge. The opening scene takes place a month after Japan
surrendered to the United States in World War II. The protagonist, Seita, a teenage son of a naval
officer, is dying of malnourishment in a subway concourse as people walk by him and look down on
him for being homeless and raggedy. Early in the film we can see the lack of sympathy from
bystanders. The protagonist dies that night and in spirit reunites with his sister, Setsuko, as the scene
ends fireflies surround the siblings. The following scene depicts American bombers headed to hit a

The final stage through which a product passes is referred as the decline stage. At this stage, the
product is approaching the end of its lifespan. The product is characterized by major defects that
include malfunctioning of batteries, broken screens, and erratic behavior of the controls and displays
(Stark, 2015). Such issues significantly impair the functioning of the product and in most cases such
functions cannot be retrieved even with the best technical support. At this stage, the efficiency of the
phone greatly declines. Moreover, such issues are very expensive to rectify. Due to the inefficiency of
the product, it is finally disposed of either by selling it to a dealer or by withdrawing its operations.

John Ross And Mill s Utilitarianism And Ross Essay
Introduction:
Mill s Utilitarianism and Ross Intuitionalism both use moral intuitions as core components of their
moral theories, though their valuation of these intuition in making morally sound decisions differ. I
will argue that it is this mis valuation of moral intuition in Utilitarian tradition that makes the moral
theory unstable and prone to criticism. Ross deontological approach to moral intuitions provides a
more believable, and morally acceptable account of the role these intuitions play in making ethical
decisions. In this paper I will begin with underlying both Ross and Mill s valuation of moral intuitions
in the framework of their moral theories, followed by a brief explanation of each philosophers view of
what makes an act moral . Having established these I will, with the aid of an anecdote about a child
and a sled, describe my difficulties with Mill s utilitarian approach to ethics. Finishing with an
assessment of some utilitarian complaints about Ross theory. Ultimately Utilitarianism provides a
commendable theory for widely applicable and practical moral action, but it s inability to address
conflicts with strong moral intuitions weakens it s argument leading me to favor that of Ross more
flexible, yet not relativistic, intuitionalism.
i) The Value of Moral Intuitions:
Both Ross and Mill recognize the existence of what one might call a prima facie duty ( or virtue), this
being an action that is intuitively deemed morally right

From Sock Puppets to the First Ammendment to the...
Recommendations Using and managing a sockpuppet is an endeavor that necessitates vigilance,
training, and proficiency. The role of the sockpuppet is still developing across the Internet, and it is
important to recognize the historical significance of pseudonyms and anonymous speech. Additionally,
it is critical to remember the unique, primarily autonomous nature of online communities, and the
negative impact that mandated identification could have on free speech. The value of anonymity found
in the use of a sockpuppet is profoundly connected to the establishment of the United States of
America. Although John Hancock and several others signed the Declaration of Independence and the
Constitution with their real names, pseudonyms forged the journey to the freedoms outlined in those
documents. These early examples of sockpuppets disseminated publications which united colonizers
to fight for independence. The question of anonymity was not as important as working together to
fight persecution. The Silence Dogood letters, Common Sense, The Federalist Papers, and other
writings exemplify an author s purpose for anonymity. This initial use of sockpuppets during the

The Space Of Space Exploration
Abstract Because our future depends on it, humanity must continue to invest in space exploration..
Technologies from the space program can be used to benefit the world and everyday life. Space flight
encourages scientific aspirations and therefore more college educated people. The answers to the most
deep rooted questions of humanity lie in space. Who are we, why are we here? Are we alone? Why
spend money on spaceflight when we have plenty of problems here on earth? The money that we
spend on spaceflight will circle around to solve the pressing problems back at home. Why use humans
instead of robots? Nothing can match the tenacity and adaptability of a human and the sense of
accomplishment achieved by human exploration. These things are ... Show more content on

Remember when you dreamed? What did you dream about? I was an astronaut on a spacewalk. I was
terrified yet thrilled. I was a kid in a tree house dreaming of something greater than himself that will
change the world and humanity forever.
Thesis: Because our future depends on it, humanity must continue to invest in space exploration,
particularly in exploring Mars.
Methods
To understand the importance of space flight, I thought that it would be vital to grasp the mindset of
people who have firsthand experience with spaceflight. I began by reading Buzz Aldrin s 2013 book,
Mission to Mars: My Vision for Space Exploration published by National Geographic as well as the
2016 speech, Mars Matters given by Charles Bolden, the director of NASA, at the 32nd Space
Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I then thought that it would be important to comprehend
the historical significance of space flight. I found 2 articles by NASA s chief historian, Steven J. Dick
published by NASA: The Importance of Exploration and Societal Impact of the Space Age (2005). I
needed to know in more detail the future of space flight that I was arguing for so I read the 2016
Huffington Post Article by David H. Bailey and Jonathan M. Borwein titled, Space Exploration: The
Future is Now. I wanted to develop an idea of the intangible reasons that we explore space; the
psychological reasons. These were explained in the 2007 Air

Pericles Funeral Oration Analysis
As an historian, Thucydides wrote a very rational and contemporary account of the Peloponnesian
war. Being an Athenian, his account gives us an eye witness record of not only the events, but the
causes and motives that lead up those events. For a historian to be objective Thucydides change in
attitude regarding the war is subtly woven into his narrative.
In Pericles Funeral Oration , we see war in a favorable light brought about by its protagonist Pericles,
who does not hold back in delivering an impassioned eulogy for the fallen soldiers before the people.
His reasons and his deliverance being compelling, he highlights the purpose and necessity of war as a
means to preserve and protect this great democracy which favors all men equally, opens its doors to
foreigners, provides justice for all, allows the freedom to advance oneself as well as indulge in
pleasure. The education of the Athenian schools far surpassing any other empire, in producing well
rounded men who are free spirited and yet will not hesitate to defend the nation, the legacy of the
forefathers and fathers who also fought to acquire, enrich and sustain an empire such as Athens is all
worth fighting to preserve. He highlights the power of sacrifice as honorable for the love of a great
country in his conclusion when he says, And where the rewards for merit are the greatest, there are
found the best citizens.
After the patriotic speech of Pericles, the city of Athens takes an ominous turn where because of the
congested, walled in city, a plague sweeps over killing an estimated 25% of the people, in which
Thucydides was also a survivor, as described in the article titled, The plague of Athens by R. Littman.
What stands out in this account is the complete dismantling of the cities honor where in desperation
and hopelessness its people indulged themselves in excess and lawlessness ensued. The fear of being
consumed by this painful, fatal, illness that did not discriminate and had no known cure caused its
inhabitants to throw caution to the wind, abdicating all that the Athenians were known for in Pericles
oration in terms of valor, reason, morality, honor and fear of the gods. Even reason and oration could
not save the city. What made this even

Indie Music Research Paper
Alternative music is a subgenre of rock music, which emerged from indie music in the 1980 s, and has
since gained a lot of popularity. The word alternative in the dictionary translates to unconventional,
uncommon, and non standard, which is so cool because all the music is under the same genre
umbrella, but none of the bands sound the same at all, and I like to think of it as the melting pot of
music. Since each band has a different style it is likely you ll be able to find something you enjoy. It
originated from bands who didn t have a major record label, and they instead signed to smaller labels
as that was much easier to do. The songs are so diverse which is nice because a lot of popular artists
music sounds the same. The lyricism of alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bands from the past decade continued releasing albums, and new bands surfaced to create similar
sounding albums the alternative/indie sound in the 2000s. More access to computers and the internet,
made it easier for music to be shared, concert videos could be viewed online, as well as music videos,
and albums. The internet is an important factor in sharing and discovering new bands. The only
problem for small indie bands is how hard it is for them to find their footing without local support, and
local record stores to share their music (Kruse). Record stores are great places for you to find
information about upcoming concerts, find old records, and discover new bands. A popular concert
venue in Salt Lake is actually located at a small park downtown and every Thursday night in the
summer, since 2005, the park hosts smaller bands, and the tickets, no matter who the artist is are 5
dollars a piece. The concerts are well attended and are great for artists to get new

A Rose For Emily Symbolism Analysis
The Symbolism of the Setting in Faulkner s and Hemingway s Stories
The place where the story is set plays the most significant role in the majority of fiction pieces, since it
is the setting that outlines the plot development and influences the heroes decisions and general
characteristics. In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, the
setting is raised to the symbolic level. When the outside portrayal does not correspond to what is
happening inside the character, it adds a psychological perspective to the plot s analysis. In Faulkner s
story, there is much information about the Griersons who have been at the top tier of society for a long
time and have become an integral part of the local community. In ... Show more content on

It is the repetition of the phrase had once been that attracts the audience s attention, since with such a
repetition, the narrator wants to underline the obvious difference between the house s former splendor
and its current half ruined appearance, though it still tries to look stubborn and coquettish (1), just like
its last dweller Miss Emily. Hemingway also introduces the setting with the first sentence when saying
that the hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white (229), and the whole location is
drenched in the bright sunlight with people having no possibility to hide in the shadow of trees. With
these words, the narrator wants to imply that this story is a kind of confession in which nothing will be
hidden from attentive readers, though it may take time for them to realize what the usual conversation
can hint at.
Both heroines understand that certain changes are inevitable in their condition. They are confused by
possible consequences and are scared stiff of what they are expected to do. While these emotions are
not shown directly, they are shown through the setting. In Faulkner s story, Miss Emily leaves her
house very seldom as if the surrounding world makes her insecure and unconfident, while a disgusting
stink of decay and frustration seems to start coming from the building she has been occupying for so
many years.

Attacks On The Berlin Wall Research Paper

Pre AP English II 1st Hour

The Attacks on the Berlin Wall ...Indeed, under certain conditions, our obligations are to resist unjust
and unfair schemes, and this can include a duty to disobey a law (Richard Dagger). An example for
this quote would be The Berlin Wall in Berlin, Germany from 1961 1989. The Wall was set up to keep
the fascist West Berlin away from Communist East Berlin. However, the wall was fuel to the fire of
civil disobedience in Berlin, Germany. Most of the civilians undertook civil disobedience to fight the
Berlin Wall. They wanted to have more freedom in their lives and they did not want to be separated
from their loved ones, so the civilians resisted their government and their ... Show more content on

property and putting themselves in danger so they could either impact the wall or get to the other side
of the wall. Civilians did whatever it took for the government to notice how much they hated the wall
and how strongly they wanted to be with people on the other side. Within hours, thousands of
Germans were clamouring at the wall demanding to be let through. (Allen 38). The Germans had lost
most of their respect for those with the government in any way and they showed this through their
actions both physically and mentally. This lack of respect shows clear civil disobedience just by their
attitude and outrageous acts alone. Many civilians showed civil disobedience when fighting against

Chris Going Into The Wild
The result of one s nose
Stress has and always will be a necessary part of life. Without stress, one can fall victim to the allure
of cowardice and die because of their choices. Chris is a perfect example of a coward looking to
escape the woes of everyday life. Like every other human, Chris must cope with daily stress. If one
looks at Chris s arduous life of a loving family, pristine home, and family vacations it is blatantly
obvious why Chris felt the need to run away from the life his parents forge for him with their blood,
sweat, and tears. One can only speculate the reason behind Chris going into the wild is because Chris
is an arrogant, self centered, cowardly person whose actions lead to Chris s demise and change his
fragile family s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chris goes into the wild with nothing but a few odds and ends that will be irrelevant in saving the life
Chris is so heart set on destroying. The first time Chris goes into the wild Chris is lucky and escapes
unscathed. As a result, Chris s ego becomes over inflated and Chris sees the harsh world as his to own.
When Chris spends time with other people, he observes their lifestyle. However, while observing
other peoples lives Chris acts disconnected, as though he were above other peoples lives. Chris s
father even admits during an interview that Chris didn t think that the odds applied to him. We were
always trying to pull him back from the edge . From Walt s statement, one can see Chris is arrogant
and always has been. As a child, Chris s parents kept his arrogance in check, making Chris incapable
of allowing his arrogant nature to shine. Chris s parents efforts to quell their son s arrogance created a
person who despised his parents for their good natured efforts. Despite Chris s parents best efforts,
Chris s unconquerable arrogance kills him and rips Chris s parents life to shreds. According to
speaker, author, and psychologist Dr. Joshua Coleman, parents can do everything right for their
children and be the best parent they can be, but despite their greatest efforts their children can still turn
on them and hurt their parents

The Role Of Women In The Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer
The idea of a woman s place in society is as controversial now as it was over six hundred years ago.
Geoffrey Chaucer first explores this in his famous collection of stories The Canterbury Tales. In
Chaucer s tales, he explores the situations of multiple individuals of varying backgrounds in the
medieval time period. Each character tells a story that reveals some aspect of their morality and
personality. Quite often, their tale also reveals their opinion of a certain overlying subject; such is the
case with many character s opinions of women and their place in society. Chaucer has commonly been
described as a feminist and though that is partly true, there is a much more beneath the surface.
Chaucer does not agree with the general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most controversial aspect of Chaucer s opinion of feminism is his figurative spectrum of the
embodiment of a woman. His depiction of a woman goes from one extreme to the next with no middle
ground. Women in the sense of The Canterbury Tales are either perfect and or outrageously flawed.
Chaucer creates character in the theme of absolutes, both physically and emotionally. Women are also
considered to be either young and beautiful or old and ugly. In The Wife of Bath s Tale, a knight rapes
a young maiden and the queen wants to decide his fate. She gives him a year to find out what women
truly want in life. He finds the answer from an old ugly woman who agrees only to help if he marries
her. When he does, she gives him the option of either having her as a young and beautiful wife who
will not be faithful or as an old and ugly wife who will be loyal. He tells her that because she is his
wife, that the decision belongs to her, but the only reason he agrees to this trade off in power is
because of his newfound resignation. He is solemn because he thinks he cannot have the ideal wife:
young, beautiful, and loyal. In the end of the Wife of Bath s Tale, she eventually gives him this perfect
significant other, which only undermines the theme of sovereignty and makes readers question
whether he truly learned his lesson or not. One of Chaucer s opinions of women

  • 2. Benefit Of The Columbian Exchange This essay will explore whether the old world or the Americas benefitted more from the Columbian exchange. The Columbian exchange was the transfer of plants, animals, ideas and more between the Americas and the old world during the 15th and 16th century. This essay will first talk about the slavery that happened during the Columbian exchange. Secondly the deaths that were caused by the transfer of diseases through the Columbian exchange. Lastly how the exchange of foods through the Columbian exchange lead to an agricultural revolution. Body During the Columbian exchange when Europeans went to explore, create colonies and conquer land, native Americans would often be captured as slaves and exported back to Europe. For example, after Pizarro won the battle against the Incas, Pizarro captured the rest of the Incas as slaves. Europeans would also go to America to find goods such as gold and silver or wealth in general. The Europeans then found wealth in Slavery. By the 15th century slavery was well established and became very popular. On his second expedition to the Americas in 1493, Christopher Columbus enslaved over 500 Native Americans and sent them to Spain. (American Indians as Slaves). These slaves were often used to cultivate tobacco and were over worked (Slavery among Native Americans in the United States). The old world benefitted more than the Americas in this case. The Americans were harshly treated and were stripped of rights as slaves while the old world used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Social And Cultural Geography Research Choose two journal articles* and consider what these articles tell us about: a) the socially constructed, spatially contingent and performative aspects of social identities and b) the practice of doing social and cultural geography research. Social and cultural geography is an area of study that has become increasingly popular within Geography. With the expansion of multi cultural societies and the increased diversification of cultures in addition to cultural practice, globally research into social and cultural geographies has boomed. These two diverse fields have risen in popularity among geographers and academics; meaning there is a significant amount of research and academic papers on this broad area of study. The fact is since the evolution of post structuralist ideas in the mid 20th century, in addition to postcolonial, and feminist study around the 1990s. A shift from an emphasis on identity to difference in geographical literature has become apparent. Geographers have since engaged more frequently with gender, sexuality, race , and class differences, by investigating how they are constituted in relation to peoples and places. This has brought about vast levels of research casing all social identities. However for the purpose of this essay, I will be focusing on the social identities of Gender and Race as both social and cultural attitudes in these areas have transformed immensely in the last century. Although it is only a four page article, Freedman effectively uses the three main rhetorical techniques of pathos, ethos, and logos. By appealing to all aspects of the readers analytical senses, this helps Freedman strongly portray his message for justice in the sports community for not only black athletes, but for anyone of any race or background. Right away Samuel Freedman uses pathos in his article to appeal to the audience s emotions. After including the counterclaim from Douglas Hartmann, Freedman quickly refutes its accuracy by saying, The reality is that modern American sports have always been political. Segregation was reified by all white baseball and football leagues(3). Freedman then proceeds to talk about some of the most acclaimed athletes of all time such as Jackie Robinson, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. He mentions how all of these athletes are in the hall of fame in their respected sports. It is important to note that Ray Lewis will also be enshrined into the National Football Hall of Fame in August, and he too took a political stand. The logic being exemplified here is that all the athletes listed above were some of the best ever at what they did. This white stardom did not stop them from risking it all by fighting for equality for people of all backgrounds. This calls out white America for its immoral treatment of not only Ray Lewis, but any other athlete that is fighting for justice for all. Several reasons exist. First: Bennett had a previous arrest record and he seemed to fit the description of the killer. Second: the police were under pressure to solve the crime. And finally above all, because the public was clamoring for some way to express its indignation (for the death of Mrs. Stuart), found Willie Bennett a plausible target (Baird and Rosenbaum 97). Cases just like this one lead to innocent men found guilty with the potential of being put on death row. Today, there are over three thousand prisoners on death row. Between 1972 and 1996, 68 death row inmates were released because proof of their innocence was found (Acker, Bohm, and Lanier 232). It is preposterous to think that of the three thousand prisoners on death row, all of them are guilty and deserve the death penalty. The death penalty is unfair for several reasons, one of them being that legal assistance for inmates on death row has become increasingly difficult to find. Prisoners on death row filing for appeal have little or no chance for receiving a fair second chance. Regardless of how nurturing and loving Bradstreet s relationship with Simon may have been, the flawless picture she paints of their love is unusual for the time and place. The poem Before the Birth of One of Her Children, we see direct orders to her husband being given from the grave. Her commanding tone displays the dominance she plays in the relationship. In the work My Dear and Loving Husband, Bradstreet speaks of how much she adores her husband, If ever two were one, then surely we. If ever man were loved by wife, then thee. • 16. The First Advantage Of Cloud Computing Body Variety of Cloud Models The first advantage of cloud computing is the variety of cloud models. There are three types of deployment models used in the everyday; they are the following: public, hybrid, and private. Public cloud is accessed by anyone on the internet through web applications and services. The hybrid cloud contains many inside and outside developers used by many businesses. Lastly, the private cloud is services only offered on a private network where no one outside the network can access. This model is safer because the cloud is not open to data breaches (compared to a public cloud). Cloud computing also offers three kind of services: Software as a service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a service (IaaS), and Platform as a service (PaaS). The first one is software as a service; it is a single application on the internet to be used by all people. On the client side, it requires no investment into running servers needed on the other side. This service also requires less maintenance and is cheaper. Some applications that use this service are Hotmail, Google Apps, Skype, and other 2.0 applications. Infrastructure as a service has unlimited storage on the cloud, and they can expand and shrink the storage space. This one requires no need of a server to be running. Some refer to it as Hardware as a service or Haas. One benefit is you pay only for the amount of storage you use. Then through adolescent and teenage years these answers become more specific such as; marine biologists, brain surgeon, and engineer. By the first year of college, most young adults are positive in their future career choices. It was around this time that I answered the age old question for myself. I had set my heart on becoming a Criminologist. As a freshman in college I was fascinated and determined to learn what causes humans to make certain decisions. The type of decisions that motivate an individual to commit a crime, that led me to declare psychology as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Earning a bachelor s degree in Psychology is by far my most important accomplishment. To go on and receive a Master s degree in Criminal Justice would be an even bigger triumph. I know one look at my official transcripts from Clemson University would make one believe that I did not take it seriously. First let me explain, during my undergraduate years I spent a lot of years working a part time job to financially take care of myself. My family did their best helping me with bills and money when they could, but I was pretty much on my own. When I was attending Midlands Tech right after high school I was working six days a week at a restaurant. In the mornings and afternoons I would attend class, after that I would go straight to work. Once leaving work for the night I would usually spend the next three to four hours doing homework and studying, and then I would wake up and do it all over again. For the next year and half, I worked hard to be able to transfer to my dream university. As a person who suffered from anxiety and depression at the time, attending college was a thought I didn t believe would become a reality. Overcoming such a crippling mental disorder was a marvelous achievement. Even during my time at Clemson my record doesn t speak very well, but I did not let the mental illness stop me from attaining my degree. Eventually, I sought help for dealing with anxiety and depression. This allowed me to focus somewhat better on school; regrettably I still was working full time. Not being financially stable legitimately set me back on my grades. Which I regret the most is focusing on paying for Clemson, and not spending more time concentrating on my school work. As previously mentioned I do not want to make it seem like I was not passionate about my studies. Currently it s a hindrance for my acceptance into Columbia College, but I do not regret all the lessons I learned, in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This expenditure helps maintain the business and the effects are temporary due to the benefit is received within the accounting year. The entry for revenue expenditure do not form part of the fixed asset cost, they are expensed in the income statement in the time of when they were incurred. Accounts payables are short term debts a company owes to its creditors. Notes payables are usually written contracts and long term debts companies have promises to pay its creditors. Accrued expenses are recognized by a company before they are paid for. An example of this would be a tax bill received from the town or city the company is located in. While all of these are recognized as current liabilities on a company s financial reports they are all recorded in different time frames. Sometimes this will get too overwhelming for them and cause them to not want to go to college right away. They plan on going to college after a year on their own trying experience life before starting college. People call this taking a gap year . People take gap years for many reasons, but they will regret their decision because gap years usually turn out bad or not the way the students want them to. Vacations, meeting new people, getting a job, saving money, and moving out from a parent s house seems like a fantasy and something that everybody would love to experience. This is what students will do or plan to do in a gap year. A gap year helps students find out who they are and learn about the world around them. • 21. Hypovolemic Shock Case Study Hypovolemic shock is an emergency condition caused by loss of whole blood (hemorrhage), plasma (burns), or interstitial fluid (diaphoresis, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, emesis, diuresis, and diarrhea) in large amounts. This makes the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body (Heller, 2014). The severe compromise in blood flow and therefore systemic perfusion contributes to cerebral, renal, or hepatic ischemia and possible organ failure. It is the most common type of shock in children with dehydration and trauma being the most common factors (McCance, 2010. pp 1703). Pathophysiology Hypovolemic shock begins to develop after losing about a fifth or more of the normal amount of blood in the body resulting in compensatory vasoconstriction, increased SVR (systemic vascular resistance) and increased afterload in order to improve blood pressure and perfusion to core organs of the body (Heller, 2014) (McCance, 2010. pp 1672). Compensatory mechanisms have limited use and benefit. For the novel s narrator, Marlow, the journey up the Congo River to the heart of darkness is reminiscent of Guido s journey into hell in Dante s Inferno, with these literary allusion always present, through forms of intense imagery. Marlow tells of his quest for employment, that is, an unnamed city in Brussels, the sepulchral city that he visits to sign his contract. Conrad uses much death imagery to describe the physical appearance of the city. He describes it: as having the appearance of a well kept alley in a cemetery . Marlow travels to the dead centre of the city. He observes grass sprouting between the stones just as grass sprouts between tombstones. This environmental imagery is symbolic of the hypocrisy that Marlow Witnesses, the exploitation that forms the basis of the company and the universality of death. City Of God Analysis The Brazilian film City of God, directed by Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund provides an insiders look on the lives of inner city young adults involved in organized crime as they attempt to survive and navigate the slums in which they live. The film, loosely based on real life events, is a commentary on the cyclical nature of violence in the titular City of God, a slum located in Rio de Janeiro. The film chooses to document the rise and fall of crime in Rio de Janeiro that took place from the 1960s to the 1980s and the lives of inner city kids involved in it. It toys with themes of cyclical and inescapable violence; suffocation; and the inexorable nature of poverty and involvement in a life of organized crime and gang activities through the employment of several editing techniques throughout the length of the film such as split frame simultaneous shots, quick and violent cuts, and POV shots. Notably, these techniques are primarily used when shooting Rocket, the main character of the film and a member of the favela. Rocket s place in the story is the main vessel for pushing these themes in the story as the film chooses to focus on his emotions regarding the favela. Overall these editing techniques work to provide the representation of the favela as suffocating and small; a representation that is tied intrinsically with themes of poverty and the certainty of violence. Both series and parallel hybrid electric vehicles primarily contain the same parts, however, they are configured differently. Both types of hybrid electric vehicle contain a gasoline based engine, a battery which is rechargeable, an inverter, transmission and an electric motor. The main difference between the two, disregarding the difference in sizes of the separate parts, is that series hybrid electric vehicles have a generator whereas in a parallel hybrid electric vehicle the motor acts as a generator. Moreover, in a parallel HEV, the engine is directly connected to the wheels, however this is not the case in a series HEV. In a parallel HEV, the motor and the combustion engine work in accordance to power the vehicle. The gasoline based engine and motor are both connected to the transmission. As fuel travels to the engine or the battery is turned on, it propels the car. In a series HEV, the motor is charged by the battery or generator (powered by gasoline based engine). Thus, the gasoline engine does not directly propel the car, unlike in the parallel HEV. Two of those islands, Jamaica and Barbados, had close to ideal climates for the production of cane sugar. • 36. Legitimacy Of Anime Legitimacy of Anime Although Japanese cartoons, known as anime, are not live action films, they are a legitimate form of art, specifically film. Anime films contain themes relevant to societal issues, which is depicted in compelling, riveting ways not obtainable through live action films, which touches the audience. The film Graves of the Fireflies, directed by Isao Takahata in 1988, is a prime example of an anime film that provokes thought and compels emotion. Graves of the Fireflies is an animated adaption of a semi autobiographical short story by the same name, written by Akiyuki Nosaka in 1967. The movie is set in Kobe, Japan during the latter stages of World War II and follows a brother and sister as the struggle to survive trying to scavenge. The opening scene takes place a month after Japan surrendered to the United States in World War II. The protagonist, Seita, a teenage son of a naval officer, is dying of malnourishment in a subway concourse as people walk by him and look down on him for being homeless and raggedy. Early in the film we can see the lack of sympathy from bystanders. The protagonist dies that night and in spirit reunites with his sister, Setsuko, as the scene ends fireflies surround the siblings. The following scene depicts American bombers headed to hit a target, the target happens to be Seita s hometown of Kobe Japan. Seita is in charge of securing the house and taking his sister with him to the bomb shelter, for his mother suffers from a heart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each phase has its own characteristics which mainly defines the performance of the product (Stark, 2015). It is these unique characteristics that mark the end of one stage and the onset of another. The present article focused on the lifecycle of a mobile phone. The first phase of the lifecycle of a mobile phone is referred as the introduction stage. During this phase, the mobile phone is just a new product. The phone is in good shape with little or no defects. Its rate of power consumption is splendid and all the safety features are functional. The final stage through which a product passes is referred as the decline stage. At this stage, the product is approaching the end of its lifespan. The product is characterized by major defects that include malfunctioning of batteries, broken screens, and erratic behavior of the controls and displays (Stark, 2015). Such issues significantly impair the functioning of the product and in most cases such functions cannot be retrieved even with the best technical support. At this stage, the efficiency of the phone greatly declines. Moreover, such issues are very expensive to rectify. Due to the inefficiency of the product, it is finally disposed of either by selling it to a dealer or by withdrawing its operations. Disposal of Compact Discs (CDs) In my neighborhood, the most commonly used method of disposal of Compact Discs (CDs) is by shredding the discs using a shredding machine and then disposing the shredded parts into a garbage pit or a landfill. This method is used by most people in the neighborhood as it seems to be less toxic to the environment (Al Salem, Lettieri Baeyens, 2009). The community in which I live does not have a mechanism through which such wastes can be recycled. • 38. John Ross And Mill s Utilitarianism And Ross Essay Introduction: Mill s Utilitarianism and Ross Intuitionalism both use moral intuitions as core components of their moral theories, though their valuation of these intuition in making morally sound decisions differ. I will argue that it is this mis valuation of moral intuition in Utilitarian tradition that makes the moral theory unstable and prone to criticism. Ross deontological approach to moral intuitions provides a more believable, and morally acceptable account of the role these intuitions play in making ethical decisions. In this paper I will begin with underlying both Ross and Mill s valuation of moral intuitions in the framework of their moral theories, followed by a brief explanation of each philosophers view of what makes an act moral . Having established these I will, with the aid of an anecdote about a child and a sled, describe my difficulties with Mill s utilitarian approach to ethics. Finishing with an assessment of some utilitarian complaints about Ross theory. Ultimately Utilitarianism provides a commendable theory for widely applicable and practical moral action, but it s inability to address conflicts with strong moral intuitions weakens it s argument leading me to favor that of Ross more flexible, yet not relativistic, intuitionalism. i) The Value of Moral Intuitions: Both Ross and Mill recognize the existence of what one might call a prima facie duty ( or virtue), this being an action that is intuitively deemed morally right ... • 41. From Sock Puppets to the First Ammendment to the... Recommendations Using and managing a sockpuppet is an endeavor that necessitates vigilance, training, and proficiency. The role of the sockpuppet is still developing across the Internet, and it is important to recognize the historical significance of pseudonyms and anonymous speech. Additionally, it is critical to remember the unique, primarily autonomous nature of online communities, and the negative impact that mandated identification could have on free speech. The value of anonymity found in the use of a sockpuppet is profoundly connected to the establishment of the United States of America. Although John Hancock and several others signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution with their real names, pseudonyms forged the journey to the freedoms outlined in those documents. These early examples of sockpuppets disseminated publications which united colonizers to fight for independence. The question of anonymity was not as important as working together to fight persecution. The Silence Dogood letters, Common Sense, The Federalist Papers, and other writings exemplify an author s purpose for anonymity. This initial use of sockpuppets during the American Revolution carved a precedent for the importance of anonymity and pseudonymity in the United States, and, therefore, led to the First Amendment of the Constitution. As the world continues to struggle with the pressure to challenge authority anonymously, sockpuppets in online communities present a new playing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Methods To understand the importance of space flight, I thought that it would be vital to grasp the mindset of people who have firsthand experience with spaceflight. I began by reading Buzz Aldrin s 2013 book, Mission to Mars: My Vision for Space Exploration published by National Geographic as well as the 2016 speech, Mars Matters given by Charles Bolden, the director of NASA, at the 32nd Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I needed to know in more detail the future of space flight that I was arguing for so I read the 2016 Huffington Post Article by David H. Bailey and Jonathan M. • 43. Pericles Funeral Oration Analysis As an historian, Thucydides wrote a very rational and contemporary account of the Peloponnesian war. Being an Athenian, his account gives us an eye witness record of not only the events, but the causes and motives that lead up those events. For a historian to be objective Thucydides change in attitude regarding the war is subtly woven into his narrative. In Pericles Funeral Oration , we see war in a favorable light brought about by its protagonist Pericles, who does not hold back in delivering an impassioned eulogy for the fallen soldiers before the people. His reasons and his deliverance being compelling, he highlights the purpose and necessity of war as a means to preserve and protect this great democracy which favors all men equally, opens its doors to foreigners, provides justice for all, allows the freedom to advance oneself as well as indulge in pleasure. The education of the Athenian schools far surpassing any other empire, in producing well rounded men who are free spirited and yet will not hesitate to defend the nation, the legacy of the forefathers and fathers who also fought to acquire, enrich and sustain an empire such as Athens is all worth fighting to preserve. He highlights the power of sacrifice as honorable for the love of a great country in his conclusion when he says, And where the rewards for merit are the greatest, there are found the best citizens. After the patriotic speech of Pericles, the city of Athens takes an ominous turn where because of the congested, walled in city, a plague sweeps over killing an estimated 25% of the people, in which Thucydides was also a survivor, as described in the article titled, The plague of Athens by R. Littman. What stands out in this account is the complete dismantling of the cities honor where in desperation and hopelessness its people indulged themselves in excess and lawlessness ensued. The fear of being consumed by this painful, fatal, illness that did not discriminate and had no known cure caused its inhabitants to throw caution to the wind, abdicating all that the Athenians were known for in Pericles oration in terms of valor, reason, morality, honor and fear of the gods. Even reason and oration could not save the city. What made this even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Rose For Emily Symbolism Analysis The Symbolism of the Setting in Faulkner s and Hemingway s Stories The place where the story is set plays the most significant role in the majority of fiction pieces, since it is the setting that outlines the plot development and influences the heroes decisions and general characteristics. In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, the setting is raised to the symbolic level. When the outside portrayal does not correspond to what is happening inside the character, it adds a psychological perspective to the plot s analysis. It is the repetition of the phrase had once been that attracts the audience s attention, since with such a repetition, the narrator wants to underline the obvious difference between the house s former splendor and its current half ruined appearance, though it still tries to look stubborn and coquettish (1), just like its last dweller Miss Emily. Hemingway also introduces the setting with the first sentence when saying that the hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white (229), and the whole location is drenched in the bright sunlight with people having no possibility to hide in the shadow of trees. With these words, the narrator wants to imply that this story is a kind of confession in which nothing will be hidden from attentive readers, though it may take time for them to realize what the usual conversation can hint at. Both heroines understand that certain changes are inevitable in their condition. They are confused by possible consequences and are scared stiff of what they are expected to do. While these emotions are not shown directly, they are shown through the setting. An example for this quote would be The Berlin Wall in Berlin, Germany from 1961 1989. The Wall was set up to keep the fascist West Berlin away from Communist East Berlin. However, the wall was fuel to the fire of civil disobedience in Berlin, Germany. Most of the civilians undertook civil disobedience to fight the Berlin Wall. Within hours, thousands of Germans were clamouring at the wall demanding to be let through. (Allen 38). • 48. The Role Of Women In The Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer The idea of a woman s place in society is as controversial now as it was over six hundred years ago. Geoffrey Chaucer first explores this in his famous collection of stories The Canterbury Tales. In Chaucer s tales, he explores the situations of multiple individuals of varying backgrounds in the medieval time period. Each character tells a story that reveals some aspect of their morality and personality. Quite often, their tale also reveals their opinion of a certain overlying subject; such is the case with many character s opinions of women and their place in society. Chaucer has commonly been described as a feminist and though that is partly true, there is a much more beneath the surface. Chaucer does not agree with the general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most controversial aspect of Chaucer s opinion of feminism is his figurative spectrum of the embodiment of a woman. His depiction of a woman goes from one extreme to the next with no middle ground. Women in the sense of The Canterbury Tales are either perfect and or outrageously flawed. Chaucer creates character in the theme of absolutes, both physically and emotionally. Women are also considered to be either young and beautiful or old and ugly. In The Wife of Bath s Tale, a knight rapes a young maiden and the queen wants to decide his fate. She gives him a year to find out what women truly want in life. He finds the answer from an old ugly woman who agrees only to help if he marries her. When he does, she gives him the option of either having her as a young and beautiful wife who will not be faithful or as an old and ugly wife who will be loyal. He tells her that because she is his wife, that the decision belongs to her, but the only reason he agrees to this trade off in power is because of his newfound resignation. He is solemn because he thinks he cannot have the ideal wife: young, beautiful, and loyal. In the end of the Wife of Bath s Tale, she eventually gives him this perfect significant other, which only undermines the theme of sovereignty and makes readers question whether he truly learned his lesson or not.
