Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzada will be the supreme leader of

Taliban government in the country has been finalized and an
announcement will soon be made, wherein Mullah Hebatullah
Akhundzada will be the leader of the new administration.

4. INDIAN NAVY SIGNS CONTRACT WITH BEL TO
PROCURE NAVAL ANTI-DRONE SYSTEM
ā¢ The Ministry of Defence announced that the Indian Navy on
August 31, 2021, sealed a contract with defence PSU Bharat
Electronics Limited for the supply of the first indigenously
developed Naval Anti Drone System (NADS).
ā¢ The Naval Anti-Drone system has been developed by the
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and
manufactured by BEL. It will be the first indigenously
developed anti-drone system to be inducted into the Indian
armed forces.
ā¢ The Defence Ministry in an official statement said that the
Indian Navy has signed a contract with Navratna Defence
Public Sector undertaking (PSU) BEL for the supply of the first
indigenous comprehensive NADS with both hard-kill and
soft-kill capabilities.

5. SC ASKS STATES, UTS TO SET TIMELINE FOR COVID-19
VACCINATION OF INMATES IN MENTAL HEALTHCARE

ā¢ Supreme Court on September 1, 2021, asked all the States
and Union Territories (UTs) to set a timeline for vaccinating
the inmates in mental healthcare homes against COVID-19
and submit the vaccination status reports by October 15,
2021.
ā¢ The Supreme Court also asked all states and union territories
(UTs) to prepare and file a status report outlining what steps
they have taken to COVID-19 vaccination of inmates in
mental healthcare homes.
ā¢ The decision to fix a timeline for COVID-19 vaccination of
inmates in mental healthcare homes was taken after the
Supreme Court division bench headed by Justice Dhananjaya
Yashwant Chandrachud heard the petition filed by a lawyer
Gaurav Kumar Bansal wherein the lawyer requested
appropriate directors and orders to vaccinate inmates in
mental healthcare homes.

the expansion of SHGs in Jammu & Kashmir said that
there are 48,000 SHGs in the region and 4 lakh
women are connected to these SHGs.

ā¢ The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has set up a
five-member committee to review applications
and give recommendations on new umbrella
entity (NUE) licences.

RBI chief general manager P Vasudevan. The
New Umbrella Entities will set up their own
payment infrastructure to compete with the
National Payments Corp. of India (NPCI).

death.

17. ISRO SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTS FIRST HOT TEST
OF GAGANYAAN SERVICE MODULE PROPULSION
SYSTEM
ā¢ The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on August 28,
2021, successfully conducted the first hot test of the System
Demonstration Model (SDM) of the Gaganyaan Service Module
Propulsion System at the test facility of the ISRO Propulsion
Complex (IPRC) in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu.
ā¢ The test conducted for 450 seconds met the test objectives and
matched the pre-test predictions. ISRO further plans a series of hot
tests to simulate various mission conditions as well as off-nominal
conditions. ISRO tweeted to share the achievement of a successful
hot test of the System Demonstration Model (SDM) of the
Gaganyaan Service Module Propulsion System.
ā¢ The Gaganyaan Service Module Propulsion System is a part of the
Gaganyaan Orbital module of the Gaganyaan Mission, Indiaās first
human spaceflight mission. ISRO on July 14, 2021, successfully
conducted the third long-duration hot test of the liquid propellant

ā¢ The United National Environment Programme (UNEP)
said on August 30, 2021, that the use of leaded petrol
has been eradicated from the globe. It is a milestone
that will prevent more than 1.2 million premature
deaths and will save the world economies over $2.4
trillion annually.
ā¢ UNEP, while calling the news a landmark win in the
fight for cleaner air, said that nearly a century after
doctors had first issued warnings about the toxic
effects of leaded petrol, Algeria- the last country to
use the fuel-has exhausted its supplies last month.
ā¢ The executive director of UNEP, Inger Anderson said
that the successful enforcement of the ban on leaded
petrol is a huge milestone for our environment and
global health.
