Low-grade gliomas include astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, and mixed glioma tumors. They make up 15% of adult brain tumors and are classified as WHO grade II. They can be solid tumors confined to one area or more diffuse infiltrating tumors. Treatment may involve surgical resection depending on the tumor type and location, with the goal of maximum safe resection while preserving function. Additional treatment may include radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or active surveillance depending on factors like the patient's age, tumor genetics, and other individual circumstances.
