This document provides information about activities for preschoolers during the week of February 29th through March 4th. It discusses role playing as travel agents to France [1] and starting a new fine motor control exercise called "Funky Fingers" [2]. It also encourages talking about letter sounds at home and invites parents to a Mother's Day service on Sunday [3].

1. Preschool Year 2

Activities we will be doing in Preschool
 This half term we are looking at the country of France and talking about its
language, culture, buildings and art work. This week we have a Travel
Agents role-play where the children will be able to practise their mark
making and language skills as they book holidays and write down how
many nights they want to stay and how many rooms they want. To back
this up we have been talking about ways of travelling to our holiday
destination from cars to aeroplanes. Card board boxes and bits of
material have provided great fun as we go on various adventures together.
 This week we are also starting something called Funky Fingers which will
entail the children being in small groups for a few minutes while they do
exercises to strengthen and develop their fine motor control. We will
have a piece of classical music playing to indicate the start and finish of
each session.
Activities to do at home
 Continue to talk to your children about the first letter sound in a word. As
children start to hear the initial sound move on to the last letter sound in
the word.
Notices
 You are all invited to our Mother’s Day service this Sunday in the church at
10.30 am. It will be a short family service when all the children in the
church will have the opportunity to go to the front to sing a couple of
songs. The children will stay with their families during the service.
