The preschool is welcoming children back from their break and has an exciting term planned with various activities both inside and outside. They will be encouraging physical development through challenges on the monkey trail and using PE equipment. In the outside role-play area, the children will use a shop to develop sharing and talking skills as well as using shopping lists and signs. At home, parents are encouraged to read the book "Shark in the Park" with their child and have them draw or paint shark pictures to display. Physical activities like jumping and hopping at the park are also suggested. Notices remind parents to name uniforms, dress children in running shoes and share what their child enjoyed over the holidays.

Dear Parents,
2 -6 September
Welcome back to Preschool. We hope you all had a good break and are looking
forward to the exciting term ahead.
Activities we will be doing in Preschool
 We will be encouraging the children’s physical development by having
outside challenges on the monkey trail. We will also have lots of PE
equipment out to help develop their ability to balance.
 In the outside role-play area we will be having a shop to encourage the
children’s ability to share and to talk to each other. There will also be
plenty of opportunities to develop their mark making and literacy skills by
using shopping lists and recognising signs.
Activities to do at home
 This half term we will be talking about the book Shark in the Park by Nick
Sharratt. If you have this book or can get a copy of it from the library, look
at the book with your child to see if they can tell you the story and talk
about the pictures. We would also love to see any shark pictures your
child could draw or paint so that we could display them in preschool.
 Physical development is so important for all your children. Whenever
possible take them to the park or encourage them to do lots of jumping or
hopping eg ‘can you jump 10 times without stopping?’
Notices
 Please name all uniform and dress your child in shoes that are suitable for
running and climbing.
 Please remember to share with your keyperson anything your child has
enjoyed doing over the holidays and anything they have achieved. Stars
and ‘I just want to tell you’ forms are available in the parent’s area.
