The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bags
Since 1985, America has been using plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles
making them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super
markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing
up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles
making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers
know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only
paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from
creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were
first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ;
made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to
terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out
plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural
resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any
supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t
much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable
bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. They both require the
same materials for creation such as oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels). Fossil fuels are the prehistoric
resources formed by plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. These fuels won t
be replaced for another millions of years to come, that is why they re called non renewable resources.
Plastic is very valuable, but humans decide that is more than okay to litter these valuable resources
than to recycle it and prevent some of the corruption and over usage of resources we may not have in a
distant future. Although plastic bags, as well as paper bags, can be recycled in order to postpone
running out of resources, the creation and

Diction In Sonnet 130
Shakespeare uses a sarcastic tone to make a mockery of Shakespeare wife. In Sonnet 130 William
Shakespeare is providing a point that looks don t always matter. If they have a great personality and
are funny it could most likely make up how they may look. There s somebody perfect out there for
everyone. You can go through life judging a book by its cover. Sometimes personality and sense of
humor are more important than how attractive someone might be. In the first two quatrains of the
poem,Shakespeare uses a reflective tone of negative diction to the positive diction comparison of
inanimate objects. For example If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head. (lines 1 3) Another
example is If snow be white , why then her breasts are dun.

Evolution Of Classical Music In The 1800 s
Plato once said, Music Gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and
life to everything. Music has touched the human soul since the dawn of time. In the Bible times, music
was directly related to the worship of God. For example, David the Psalms talks about dancing and
music to praise God with the lute, and cymbal . Music, like much of everything else, has been affected
due to the fall. Music was still mostly used for worship and praise of God until the early 1800 s.
Between the 16th and 18th Century the classical genera of music evolved greatly. Bach, Mozart, and
Vivaldi all wrote music within the classical genera, but within different eras of classical music.
1600 through 1750 saw the rise of Baroque genera

The Counter Terrorism Law
Counter terrorism Law
No one can deny that the word terrorism is hated to be heard. Terrorism is commonly known as any
action referring to violence against innocent citizens or causing damages to a public or private
property for political purposes. According to Maria Keet, (Senior Lecturer with the Department of
Computer Science, University of Cape Town) Terrorism is resulted due to plenty of causes that made
such a phenomenon be a public concern. Separatism is probably the main reason of arising of
terrorism. The conflict between people is due to nationalism and racism issues. This conflict arises
with the existence of inequality, racism and political opportunities. Other reason of arising of terrorism
is poverty and social inequality. Some statistics proved that 15% of the population consumes 85% of
the resources all over the world which made the other 85% of population fight for these resources by
any means. Last but not the least; Religion is one of the causes of terrorism especially in Egypt.
Terrorism became widely spread in the Egyptian streets after the 30th June revolution in 2013. After
the sacking of the former president, who belonged to a religious organization, his supporters decided
to spread terrorism all over the country until the former president gets back to his position as a
president of Arab Republic of Egypt. Since then, this terroristic organization performs a terroristic
operation which had many impacts on Egypt and Egyptians. Since June 2013,

The Politics behind Dante’s Inferno
The Divine Comedy is much more than an epic poem depicting a man s interpretation of Heaven,
Hell, and Purgatory. Written by Italian poet, Dante Alighieri, the Divine Comedy frequently alludes to
the political turmoil that was prevalent throughout 14th century Italy, specifically, the city of Florence.
During this period of Italian history, there was a lack of a stable government and a power struggle
between the Papacy and the Holy Roman Emperor. This paper will analyze the political aspects within
the Divine Comedy and its connection to religion, focusing specifically on the Inferno. During Dante s
lifetime, two factions were in constant conflict amongst each other over control of his home of
Florence; the Guelphs, supporters of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The wrathful are destined to fight with each other in the Styx, a muddy river found in this circle, while
the sullen are left buried under the muddy water overlooking the fighting. The remaining four circles
of hell are separated from the previous five, in that they are considered the lower parts of hell, where
Dante must pass through the walls of the city, Dis. The sixth circle of hell are where the souls of the
heretics are found, and burning in their open graves is the way they suffer for the rest of eternity. The
seventh circle of hell is where the souls of the violent reside. This circle of hell is separated into three
different sections, representing the 3 different types of violence separated by rings; 1) violence against
neighbors, 2) violence against oneself, and 3) violence against God. The outer ring, those who commit
violence against their neighbors, are punished by being submerged into the Phlegethon, a river of
boiling blood. Anyone who tries to leave have arrows shot at them by Centaurs. Those in the middle
rings who committed violence against themselves, or suicide, are punished by being turned into trees
and bushes, in which harpies feed upon them. The trees can only talk when they have their branches
ripped off. The middle ring also houses profligates, or those who destroyed their lives by recklessly
spending money. Their punishment is to eternally run away from dogs who try to maul

Slaves Reaction To The Haitian Revolution
The Haitian Revolution is known to be one of the main focal points in the history of slave. It is known
for being the biggest and triumphant slave revolution in the Western Hemisphere. The Haitian
Revolution was the only revolt that led to the creation of a state free from slavery. Past the struggling,
the people of Haiti eventually, after this whole situation, won their independence from the mother
country France. This event in American history is crucial to teaching about the lives of slaves and the
struggle of slavery.
In around 1791, slaves started to defy authority and revolt against the government. These revolts did
not stop until early 1804. The Haitian Revolution, nevertheless, was significantly more mind boggling,
comprising of a few transformations going on at the same time. Slaves reaction to the French
Revolution in a way that sort of jump started the revolution and got it going.
Saint Dominigue, which is what Haiti is now known, blossomed with wealth during the 18th century.
It simply thrived off of crops such as indigo, sugar, coffee and cotton. The French Revolution played a
big part in the slaves just having enough of their rulers. However, by the time the French Revolution
started settling down in 1789, there were five particular social classes of people, if you will. It started
off with the plantation owners, also known as the white growers, who obviously owned the slaves and
the land. The other group was known as petit blancs. They had tasks such as being a craftsman, or as
they called it an artisan, a business specialist, and some even became teachers. The petit blancs were
free slaves, but some of them eventually had slaves further down their life. Those groups combined
equaled to 40,000 people. A considerable lot of the whites on Saint Dominigue started to help a
freedom development that started when France forced tariffs on the things brought into the state. The
grower did not as France s decision to prohibit trade with another country. In spite of their calls for
freedom, both the grower and petit blancs stayed focused on the establishment of servitude.
The three residual gatherings were of African plummet: the individuals who were free, the individuals
who were slaves, and the

My Life Changed For The Worst
I remember the day so vividly, the day that my life changed for the worst. It was just like every other
year. We were going to get Tux, my cat, shaved. He s a long haired cat so we get him shaved every
summer so he does not get unbearably hot. This year was slightly different, though. Along with getting
him shaved, we were getting some potential tumors checked to see if they were cancerous, and get
them removed. Although I was nervous about the tumors, I did not think much of it because nobody
expects their cat to have cancer. The car ride to the vet was just like every other time, except the traffic
was heavier than usual that morning. It was around 7 o clock in the morning. It was a sunny day,
probably around 80 degrees. My mom and I were carrying on small talk, and we had the radio playing
quietly for background noise in hope of it calming Tux down. My mom thought it was annoying how
much Tux talks in the car, but I find it very humorous. He never talks more than he does when he goes
on car rides. We finally arrived at the vet clinic, after what seemed to be such a long car ride between
Tux crying and all the traffic along the way. I picked the heavy cage up off my lap that held Tux inside
of it. My mom went over to the receptionist to her know that we had arrived, but Tux and I went to go
sit down in the waiting area. I had on my favorite pair of Soffee shorts, and I could not quit thinking
about how cold it was inside the animal clinic. I remember when I sat down

The Three Main Causes Of The Civil War
The North and South citizens were divided because of their huge differences. The tension between
them consisted of having disagreements on slavery, economical and political differences. The hate and
violence against each other later on led to the infamous Civil War. The Civil War, also known as the
War Between States , began in 1861 and lasted for four deadly years. This war of disputes and misery
led to the division of the two nations, the North and the South. The three main causes of the Civil War
between the North and the South were politics, economy, and slavery. The first main cause of the Civil
War was conflict between the North and the South about politics. During the election of 1860,
Abraham Lincoln was a candidate of the North while J.C. Breckinridge was the candidate of the
South. Abraham Lincoln successfully won with 180 electoral votes. This caused tension between the
North and the South because Abraham Lincoln was against the expansion of slavery (Doc N). The
Kansas Nebraska Act is an example of this. The Missouri Compromise Line of 1820 was repealed
when the Kansas Nebraska Act of 1845 was passed. The act organized territories on the principle of
popular sovereignty. This created a lot of stir between the two nations. In a cartoon created by Harry T.
Peters in 1856, it is shown that Preston Brooks, a member of the House of Representatives, attacking
Senator Charles Sumner, an abolitionist from Massachusetts, with a cane. This happened after Sumner

Camargo s The Ballet Body
The Ballet Body
The origin of the dance figure was in the eighteenth century. A young dancer by the name of Marie
Camargo became a prominent figure on the stage. She was light footed sure of her steps and shorter
than all of the male dancers on the stage. Her timing for her career was perfect. This was at the time
that it became fashionable to go to the ballet. Camargo became famous and every young dancer in the
world wanted to go to the same dance company so that they could share in her fame. The company
would not let any new dancers in who were taller than their star performer. As girls reached five feet
five their dreams would be smashed at the realization that they would never have Camargo s figure.
This new dancer also redefined the shape of the classical ballet dancer. Before her debut on the stage
the ballet dancers were not traditionally small, but due to her popularity, the new figure became
mandatory to succeed in the world of ballet.

External Changes And Internal Reforms
Have the external changes and internal reforms of the last 40 years led to the retreat or revival of the
liberal democratic state?
Introduction
Over the past 40 years, through internal reforms and external changes, many liberal democratic states
are seen as losing their autonomy over their very own borders. Therefore, many assert that the states
are in the retreat, however in this essay, it will argue that the states are in fact in the state of revival
because of New public management and Europeanization. This essay will first explain what internal
reforms are and how they revive the power of the state. It will then move on to explain what the
external changes are and how they also revive the power of the state. Lastly, the conclusion will
consolidate all the arguments to support why the state is in the revival.
Internal Reforms
Internal reforms
For United Kingdom, many internal reforms happened during Margaret Thatcher and John Major s
government. The reforms (Richards, David Smith, Martin, 2002) were Rayernism, The Financial
Management Initiative and the Next Steps (Privatization and Marketization). On the other hand,
United States NPM is known as Managerialism (Lynn, 2006). Unlike UK, managerialism has existed
in USA since the late 19th century. However, it only became notable during Ronald Reagan s
presidency. Some of the USA s reform were deinstitutionalization, privatization, cost effectiveness
scrutiny and policy budgeting. Bevir (2009:141 142) defines NPM as

THE IMPACT OF RISING OIL PRICES ON THE SOUTH AFRICAN ECONOMY IN RELATION
TO THE DEMAND AND SUPPLY OF NEW MOTOR VEHICLES.
INTRODUCTION
A continual upward trend in the price of crude oil in recent years has led to increasing concerns about
its economic implications, both abroad and in South Africa. This study looks at the rising oil prices
and their impact on the South African economy within the framework of supply and demand, looking
at the impact rising oil prices has had on demand and supply for vehicles as well as the impact on
South African GDP growth. Cognisance must be taken of the fact that this ... Show more content on

PRIMARY FACTORS
Taking into account the primary factors that can cause a change in demand (or a shift in the demand
curve) are
consumer income
prices of related goods
advertising and consumer preferences
population
seasonal factors
Understanding these factors in relation to rising oil costs and vehicle demand makes it possible to
predict the market response to real economic events.
Consumer income
Over the year s South African consumer income has increased which has resulted in an increasing
demand of motor vehicles. The demand for inferior goods (i.e. public transport) decreased as more
people chose to purchase their own vehicles.
Prices of related goods
Changes in the price of related goods (substitutes and complements) leads to changes in demand. An
increase in the price of Oil as a complement good has caused a decrease in the demand of Motor
Vehicles especially since the late 2006 when there has been a steep increase in the oil prices.
Advertising and consumer preferences
Consumers are becoming more environmentally conscience and this has resulted in a steady demand
for eco friendly modes of transport. With the introduction of hybrid vehicles as well as plans to
improve public transport within South Africa consumers are becoming less reliant on the necessity of
a motor vehicle as an only means of transport.
Population
The growing increase in population of consumers has increased demand.

The Importance Of Crime In Miami
Miami, vice city, holds a million of people, events, and cultures. Sad is the part, in the southeastern of

Actions of Goneril in Shakespeare s King Lear Essay
Actions of Goneril in Shakespeare s King Lear
Whenever the issue of power allocation arises, there usually emerge a few individuals who, given only
a moderate amount of authority, overstep their bounds to exert more dominance than they rightfully
own; such is the case with Goneril. Yet, although Goneril certainly errs in betraying the very father
that bestowed a large dominion upon her, King Lear deserves much of the blame for Goneril s
haughtiness. After grossly misinterpreting the reticence of his heretofore prized daughter Cordelia,
Lear divides his kingdom between the mendacious Goneril and the scheming Regan, thereby leaving
the fate of the land at their unskilled mercies. Naturally, Goneril relishes her newfound control, so ...

Goneril s first underhanded act, falsely professing an exalted love for her father solely in order to gain
more land, does not constitute an isolated incident; Lear s blindness to the love of Cordelia fosters
Goneril s megalomaniacal tendencies as well as permits likeminded Regan, of the self same metal that
[Goneril] is, to commit the same trespass (1.1, 69). Although Goneril speaks first and delivers a very
calculated response, Cordelia s genuine, candid answer should have trumped the transparent rejoinders
of her sisters. Instead, Lear falls victim to their ploy and invests far too much command in Goneril;
she responds as would anyone of her ambitious disposition and decides that she must do something,
and i the heat, meaning take advantage of Lear s burgeoning infirmity (1.1, 308).
The second contention for Goneril s wickedness stems from her ordering Oswald, a steward, to snub
Lear s men, and from her extreme exaggeration of the men s supposedly decadent antics. This
argument, however, does not take into account the sentiments of Goneril as a married woman, a lady
of the house. In saying, if he dislike it, let him to our sister, she reveals her intent to use negligent
servants as a modus operandus for getting Lear out of her castle and on the road to that of Regan (1.3,
14). The mere act of begrudging a former king some of the luxury surrounding his previous position
hardly seems

Empiricism and Experience
Empiricism Empiricism by nature is the belief that there is no knowledge without experience. How
can one know what something tastes like if they have never tasted it? For example, would someone
know that an apple is red if they have never actually have seen one. Someone can tell you an apple is
red, but, if you never have seen one, can you really be sure? Empiricists use three anchor points in
which they derive their opinions from. The first of these points is; the only source of genuine
knowledge is sense experience. An easier way to understand this is to compare the mind to a clean
sponge. As the sponge touches things, it takes with it, a piece of everything it touches. Without this,
the sponge would remain clean and be void of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second epistemological question is; does reason provide us with knowledge of the world
independently of experience? John Locke says the answer to this question is no. He uses arguments
discussed in the third anchor point of empiricism to support this idea. Locke does not believe that
reason alone can provide knowledge because we do not possess innate knowledge that we are not
aware of. To best describe this Locke proposes this model: Suppose the mind to be, as we say, white
paper, void of all characters, without any ideas; how comes it to be furnished? When man has painted
on it with endless variety, how does it have all the materials of reason and knowledge to this question I
answer, in one word, from experience. In that all our knowledge is founded, and from that, it
ultimately drives itself (p94). Therefore, without these experiences Locke believes that we would not
possess the concept of reason and because of that reason alone cannot provide us knowledge of the
world. Berkeley s answer to the second question is no as well. He believed that it was only through
experience and not reason that we have any knowledge of reality. Since our experiences differ from
each individual, reality too will differ for each individual. These ideas as he calls them are the
concrete contents of our minds. These ideas are provided through experience and not reason.
Therefore, we can not posses knowledge through our reasoning because that reasoning would be based

Robert Mcnamara Vietnam War Summary
Robert McNamara directed a disastrous, failed war that was very costly. He visioned an active
management approcah. He wanted a Pentagon where the secretary would have his own large staff that
would provide civilian advice. This advice would only allow the secretary to be the only one able to
assess alternatives. This would also allow him to be the only one making choices when it comes to
defining budgets, foreign policy, military strategy, and integrating forces and weapons. Budgets in the
50s were done by services instead of missions and used estimates that had an unclear validity. There
was no way that duplication nor functional gaps could be identified. Concerns arose from
discrepancies about the defense posture on whether it had rational basis for the allocation of resources.
McNamara also proposed a system analysis that calculated the defense needs, but it had its limits. The
military was caught off guard with this and programs that he did not agree with were seen as not to be
cost effective. McNamara s agenda also included acquisition reforms. This ... Show more content on

Essay about Politicians Of The Gilded Age
Politicians during this time period worried more about ensuring their own financial success, securing
votes by any means, granting jobs or favors in return for votes, and remaining popular. They were not
concerned with social issues, but supported or crushed these issues in accordance with the decision
that would benefit them personally. If politicians were judged to be good personally, they were
automatically viewed as good politically. Changes were made for personal benefit, not the good of the
community. Read political ideologies were not central to this time period. Use specific people

Conkling followed nothing of this sort. In fact, in more than two decades in Congress, he never
drafted one bill. Instead, Conkling distributed very profitable jobs at the New York customhouse and
spent most of his career as senator by rewarding his party who stayed faithful with government jobs.
Conkling s actions show the changes made only for personal benefit of this time period because
instead of during what was needed for the nation, he responded with actions that would help out
himself with more votes and by helping out only his friends.
The second of the two senators was a senator named James G. Blaine. Blaine was a Republican
senator from Maine during this same time period. Despite his corrupt actions, Blaine was probably the
most popular Republican politician of the era. Charming, intelligent, witty, and able, he served twice
as secretary of state and was a serious contender for the presidency in every election from 1876 to
1892. Blaine was a corrupt politician though. After being paid off by favors to railroads in return for
money, Blaine lied to the public denying that it ever happened. Soon after, the public soon found out
the truth. Blaine s corruption came back to him in 1884 when he tried to run for president. Overcome
with anger towards him, Democrats would often rally: Blaine! Blaine! James G. Blaine! / Continental

The Ozark Actors Theatre And Their Mission
APPLICATION OF THEORIES When looking at the Ozark Actors Theatre and their mission, in
general, they relate to the supply side theory as to why they exist. The supply side theory attributes the
existence of nonprofit organizations to the vision and initiative of individuals who have created and
built them (Worth, pg. 50). Additionally, the organization also exists as a common good, one that
cannot be consumed alone by an individual nor are they an interest or benefit to all people (Worth, pg.

Confucius s A Perfect Government
A perfect government does not exist in this world, but a just one is always welcomed. The literary
work Analects by Confucius shows the perspective of a philosopher and his version of an ideal China.
Confucius is a philosopher that wrote his philosophy based on the world that surrounds him, and
influence from the Zhou dynasty. One of the major subjects Confucianism addresses is China s
politics and government during Confucius s time. Confucius tries to offer solutions through his
philosophy to better China and its people. Confucius s Analects is a critique of the dire rulers and
China s government, and tries to provide solutions to better China.
Confucius lived in China during the Spring and Autumn period, which is 571 449 BCE. During this
period China s government and its rulers were corrupt, and because of this Confucius s philosophy
heavily revolves at trying to fix the current problem his society faces by trying to issue solutions
within his philosophy. One of the major themes that Confucius always goes back to when talking
about how China can become better is to go back to tradition. Tradition to Confucius meant not
following mystical entities or abstract ideas, but to follow a simple system like the times of early
China. Confucius thinks that the emperors such as Yao and Shun are examples of great leaders of the
past, and the current government should follow their example (Christian Violatti, cited in Ancient
History Encyclopedia 2013). These rulers ruled without

Compare And Contrast The Blind Side Movie And Movie
It all depends on who you are, where you come from. The Blind Side is a film based on true events
about a boy named Michael who had a bad family life and nowhere to go. He was discriminated
against because of who he was, the color of his skin and what type of family he had come from. The
Tuohy family picked him up off the streets and took them in as their own. He was then apart of their
family and sent to school. In the film, The Blind Side, the director John Lee Hancock kept some
events the same as the historical event but changed a few details that had occurred in real life in order
to add excitement to the story.
In the story The Blind Side, many of the scenes from the movie are very similar to the happenings in
the historical event. One thing that was similar between the movie and the event was the fact someone
at Briarcrest High School talked people into letting Michel into the school. According to the article
The Blind Side (2009) , the football coach at Briarcrest, Hugh Freeze (referred to as Burt Cotton in the
movie), did encourage his colleagues to accept Michael s application. . Additionally, the man who
played Michael Oher and the actual Michael Oher himself were very similar characters. In reality,
Aaron, who plays him, has an appealing gentle giant presence. (Gleiberman). In both the movie and

Hurricanes And Its Impact On The United States
Hurricanes have affected the Caribbean islands for many centuries but particularly in the 19th century.
During the 1840 s Cuba was affected by three hurricanes that all happened within four years of each
other in 1842, 1844, and 1846. Many scholars have looked over these hurricanes in Cuba as not really
having much of an in depth affect on Cuba s life and history but just as being hurricanes. But Louis A.
Pérez Jr. a professor and scholar, labeled these 19th century hurricanes as a flash point to look at Cuba
s history from multiple angles. saw the 1842, 1844, and 1846 hurricanes as being more than just
storms by using multiple resources like the Archivo Nacional de Cubaa, Havana, encyclopedias, such
as the Encyclopedia of Hurricanes, Typhoons, and Cyclones by David Longshore (New York, 1998),
and descriptive chronologies by David L. Niddrie and David M. Ludlow to name a few. By reviewing
and using all of these resources, Louis A. Pérez concluded that the 1840 s hurricanes had an effect on
agriculture, social relations, and the overall national identity of Cuba.
The Cuban coffee, tobacco, and sugar productions transformed in the 19th century due to the
hurricanes of 1842, 1844, and 1846. The productions of coffee, tobacco, and sugar prior to the 1840 s
hurricanes were profitable businesses. Many Cuban farmers saw the productions as a great way to

The Australian legal system doesn t have a bill of rights so it must protect individual human rights in
other ways. Individual human rights consist of civil, economic and social rights. The law protects
these in four ways: through common law, the Australian Constitution, ordinary legislation and
International Law. The common law protects human rights through judges making court decisions
within cases that involve human rights. This is prevalent in cases that are heard in the superior courts
where the decision later becomes a precedent for similar cases. The Australian constitution protects

Japan, Australia and New Zealand. In the Americas, certain aspects of our business dictate that we
ship notebooks from Asia to the United States. In the past, we relied primarily on air service.
However, last year we enjoyed improvements in our supply chain by shipping more freight from Asia
to the U.S. via ocean carriers. Furthermore, we have also implemented the use of rail transport from
ocean terminals to Dell fulfillment centers within the United States. This process has also become a
standard practice to deliver notebooks to customers in Latin America and EMEA.
To provide world class logistics support for Dell and our customers, our logistics teams must also
leverage the best transportation and logistics providers available in the industry. During the past year,
we made changes to the relationships we had with some of our carrier partners, which again required
significant adjustments to networks and processes, as well as great attention to detail. As volumes
shifted from one carrier to another, we ensured that there were no disruptions in customer service

Discuss how Islam is a quest to be faithful to the transcendent, both directly and through social

Islam is a religion based on the belief in one God, His messenger and the four other pillars. These five
pillars are central to Muslims, followers of Islam and mould their beings and are part of their everyday
lives. This essay will look at the abovementioned pillars, what they are and how they form part of the

This again, makes reference to the remembrance of those who are not as fortunate, specifically, fellow

The fifth and last pillar of Islam is the Hajj. The Hajj refers to the holy pilgrimage to Makkah, acts
done at and around the Ka bah, the house of God and also other precise and detailed series of rituals as
prescribed. The gathering of all pilgrims on the plains of Arafat, men dressed in nothing but two cloths
and women in plain white thobes (form of Islamic dress), is the highlight and most important part of

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s One Day
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich explores the man s struggle to
survive in the trying circumstances of a Soviet Gulag. Though the novel leads the reader through the
horrific conditions in one of the work camps, it does not focus on the lack of hope that the men feel
but it focuses on the perseverance and resilience of the prisoners. Shukhov s character shines through
as a prominent example of the courage of the souls in the work camps. Further, Alyoshka proves to
never give up in the face of extreme conditions and is always around to help his gang. Finally, Tyurin
s undying devotion to leadership provides a refreshing look into the resilience of the prisoners.

Furthermore, the author reveals through Shukhov s actions the determination that mankind
experienced in the gulags. Shukhov takes a job, which could normally be considered a gruelling task,
and turns it into an act of fortitude. As the sole thing he sees is the wall in front of him (97) and he
shouts to not give up yet, boys! (109), he strongly exemplifies the perseverance of the prisoners. The
task that he is given should dishearten him but instead, boosts his morale and thus, his determination.
The character of Shukhov is crafted as a glaring example of the resilience men have in a gulag, and
this is additionally explored through the characterization of Alyoshka.
Solzhenitsyn creates the compelling character of Alyoshka who stays true to himself and to others in
the face of adversity. Staying faithful to his religion gives him the strength he requires in order to
focus on the positive outcomes of the gulags. Contrary to popular opinion, the author uses Alyoshka s
dialogue to exhibit the positivity as he says to [b]e glad [they are] in prison so that they have time to
think about [their] soul[s] (177). He regards his imprisonment as a time to reflect upon his spirit and
the kind of person he is which is a true accomplishment of the human spirit in the calamity of a gulag.

help to his gang. His want to be helpful is glaringly

Affirming the consequent can be derived in the form of if P then Q where P is the antecedent and the
consequent of the conditional is Q. To illustrate this, a quote from Donald Trump, candidate for
President of the United States in the 2016 presidential election, on the recent terror attack in Paris is
presented: When you look at Paris, you know, the toughest gun laws in the World, Paris, nobody had
guns but the bad guys, nobody had guns. They were just shooting them one by one... And I ll tell you
what, you can say what you want, but if they had guns, if they were allowed to carry guns, it would
have been a much much different situation By reconstructing this example as an argument with
premises and conclusion it would look like this: P1) If the victims were allowed to carry guns (P), then
the situation would have been much different (Q). P2) The victims might have survived (Q). C)
Therefore France should allow their citizens to carry guns

The Hukou System Is The Door Guard Of The Command Economy
The hukou system is the door guard of the command economy. Discuss.
Introduction
Hukou is a household registration system that the government uses it to control migration of the
population (Zhang, 29). Simply put, hukou is a migration control system. Typologically speaking,
hukou is an official identification system that records a resident s presence including his or her name,
birth, economic power and rank, employment status, and other relevant information. The
establishment of the PRC (People s Republic of China) Regulations on Household Registration in

Indeed, it is possible. The government can use a complex and traditional way to allocate the resources
and social welfare within the country, in the meantime, maintain its control to individuals. However,
without the enforcement of the hukou system, meaning that the hukou system is not a door guard of
the command economy, the economy would develop in a relatively less efficiency and a less
convenient way. Obstruction may happen, as the government would require doing a lot of complex
work in allocating the resources and social welfares. Nevertheless, one has to understand that
production, investment, prices, and incomes determine centrally by the government under the
command economic system. The hukou system not only separates the population into two categories
but also regulates internal migration. Consider of that, the hukou system becomes a perfect choice in
implementing a command economic system. This is because the hukou system not only ease
government s burden but also curb the growth of the urban population; restricting rural residents from
moving into urban centres, where places usually have a better living environments. As a door guard,

Electromagnetic Tracking Research Paper
The implementation of electromagnetic tracking (EM) to verify nasogastric tube placement is a new
concept that can provide better and safer patient care. Many people die of improper placement of
nasogastric tube each year. The misplacement of these tubes, if not verified correctly, can cause severe
injury to the patient or even death. Fundamentals of Nursing, believe that X ray is the best way to
verify placement (Potter, Perry, Stockert, Hall, 2013). In the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics
and the British Journal of Nursing they both find that Electromagnetic tracking is the safest way. It is
important to check for verification because this type of harm is preventable. New evidence based
practice states that the use of electromagnetic tracking is safer versus the use of pH, X ray, and CT
scanning (Taylor S. et al., 2014). Another benefit to using this method is that ... Show more content on

It is so crucial to confirm the tube placement because of possible harm that can be done to the patient.
About 1.9% of feeding tubes are misplaced every year. This can lead to pneumothorax in 1 in every 5
patients and dead in 1 in 39 patients (Taylor S. et al., 2014). Using X ray to confirm placement would
be too late to prevent lung trauma. PH is done also but is not always accurate and should not be used
solely as proof to confirm placement. Waiting on the confirmation of placement can delay the
administration of treatment or nutrition. Using the EM tracking system the patient is less likely to have
the tube enter the lungs. While a patient is unconscious their gag reflex is often impaired (Potter et al.,
2013). This increases the patient s risk for aspiration. When inserting the tube in an unconscious
patient there is a greater risk for harm. Potter suggests that X ray is the better option for confirmation
of placement but X ray exposure can also be harmful to the patient (Windle E. et al.,

The Controversy Between Theory To Measurement And...
The role of measurement
How does the mechanism proceed from theory to measurement and to policy making?
Once the phenomenon is examined within a conceptual framework; I intend to go further with a
methodological understanding and questioning of the mechanism in which immigration is modelled,
measured, and intervened with the policies. In order to inquire this, the first emphasis goes on the link
between theory and measurement; and then to the way the scientific process is translated into real
world via policy making. Thinking how numbers dependency on the subject matter (individuals) can
easily turn to the dependency of individuals to the numbers just because policy matters for people; a
proper understanding and measuring people and their environment as a whole appears to be essential.

These indices on the other hand, can be seen as the way authorities (states or group of states, i.e.
European Union) define and identify immigrants since they play role in policy making. So, the extent
these indices recognize identity can be symbolized as the extent states and policies recognize
immigrants as they have identities (heterogeneous mixture), in interaction with others, and do change.
Following the discussion on the problems in the economic theory; the validity of the indices would
then depend on how adequately they take the individuals, their change and interaction into account. If
what matters in immigration is not only an ultimate goal set in one point of time or its consequences in
performance in an isolated work place; but the goals, as individuals do, evolve within interaction of
identities of all entities (people, groups, institutions, lands) maybe in different frequencies or different
ways; then indices as the way authorities understand individuals should well take this into account.

Contrasting Views of Douglass, Delaney, and Garnet
Contrasting Views of Douglass, Delany, and Garnet Frederick Douglass had integrationist views.
These included the right of women to vote and to be interested in and involved in politics just as much
as men (Huggins Handlin, 1997). He believed at the time that women were being cheated out of their
rights, and also that the country and political system was being cheated because women were not
having their voices heard. The more he studied the Constitution, the more he decided that it was
against slavery. Before, he had thought the document supported having slaves. From there, Douglass
attacked the hypocrisy that he believed was so strong in the US, along with the hypocrisy that he also
believed was strongly seen in the Christian church (Huggins Handlin, 1997). He advocated for
education, and for making men and women, black and white more equal than they were. During that
time in his life, he called for the court to rule to let black children into school so they could get an
education. Slave rebellions were suggested, but Douglass would not support them. He did not feel as
though violence was the answer to the problems black people faced (Huggins Handlin, 1997). In
contrast to Douglass, Delany and Garnet had nationalist views that were focused on obtaining justice
and equality for them as free men (Levine, 1997; Piersen, 1993). While Delany worked with Douglass
to some extent on a newspaper venture and other movements, most of the work done by Delany was
centered

The Case Of Amsterdam Brewery
This case is about Amsterdam Brewery, which produced over 20 different craft brews, each with its
own brand name. Jeff Carefoote was the owner and president of Amsterdam Brewery wanted to decide
on promotional strategies that would increase its profitability and grow company s brand. The
company was also experiencing operational capacity issues due to continuously increasing demands.
As a result, Carefoote had decided to invest in capital expansion to increase Amsterdam s brewing
capacity. Several problems were created like The Ontario Craft Brewers Organisation didn t promote
craft breweries because its laws were not supportive for craft breweries. After that, in order to increase
brewing capacity, Amsterdam moved operations to midtown Toronto and the high capital costs for
expansion made Carefoote hesitate. Moreover, the brewing time was also connected to the beer s retail
selling price because some beers required more complex processes that resulted in higher costs and
higher selling prices.
This had an adverse affect on the Amsterdam Brewery and other stakeholders too because it had failed
to translate into increased sales of the product offsite. The owner got confused to make decision that
whether he should continue to focus on building the original products or should keep releasing and
promoting new products.

He Touched Her Again
Rachel sounded so weak on the phone. When his eyes landed on her, he couldn t help to notice bruises
on her face and body. He didn t see the happiness in her eyes he always saw. Her eyes were full of hurt
and tiredness. Finn knelt to pick her up gently, Rachel, what the fuck happened? Finn, my legs hurt so
much I don t think I can walk. Rachel s eyes were starting to water. She didn t know how to tell him.
She laid her head on Finn s lap while he was deep in his thoughts. His mind wandered until she
decided she was ready to speak. He blurted out questions that were on his mind, but she didn t answer.
I m so scared, Finn. She whispered. Rachel, I can t help you if you don t tell me why you re here and
why is your face and body so bruised up. I m so sorry. I should ve listened to you a long time ago
when you said not to wear shirts that expose my chest. I know we broke up, but I don t know where to
go. My dad would call the cops and he told me if I told anyone he would find me and kill me. FINN I
M SO SCARED. Please forgive me! Finn s eyes widened at the thought of someone hurting her. He
shot up and grabbed her arm firmly, Rachel, Rachel, Rachel, calm down! Forgive you? For what?
Rachel, who s he ? Tell me now. The day when I heard you and Quinn talking I..umm..went to Puck s

The Fundamental Difference Between Childhood And Adulthood
After Every Storm, the Sun Will Smile I did not even have the power to wipe away the rain drops as
they slid down my face. I was too mesmerized by the world below me. All I could do at that moment
in time was watch everything I had ever known be demolished. That was the day it hit me, making me
understand what life was about. As I stood high above the rest of the world on a bank, in my pink little
rain boots, I had realized that it was time to grow up. There is a fundamental difference between
childhood and adulthood. Some differences are obvious: height, life experience, intellectual
knowledge, but these are only superficial differences. The fundamental difference between children
and adults is how we view the world, our community, and life as a whole. In most cases, it takes just
that one life changing event to fulfill the transformation from child to adult. This was mine. As I
watched my tiny town of Margaretville drown under a flooding river, my fourteen year old self, who
was devastated and confused, looked up at my father and asked, Why? It was the only thing I could
manage to say. It is Hurricane Irene, Honey I remember him saying. Who was this Irene and why was
she punishing my innocent town, were the questions that ran through my mind. I would soon learn
how this was a natural disaster, Hurricane Irene of 2011, and there was nothing my little self could do
about it, at least not alone. The river running directly through Margaretville creates a source of life

Persuasive Speech On Babysitting
Many teenagers turn toward babysitting as a means of earning money. However, the first time a person
babysits can be nerve wracking. Children are unimaginably important to their parents. It takes a lot of
trust for a parent to put his or her child in the care and protection of a babysitter. This puts an immense
amount of pressure on a babysitter to be perfect. Despite all the stress babysitting can bring, it is easy
if you follow four simple rules. When first arriving at the house, it is important to ask for all the
necessary contact and emergency information, so that if anything bad happened, you would know who
to call and what to do. Because an emergency is a high stress situation, you could easily forget the
emergency information. It is helpful to write down the information as you receive it and putting it
somewhere that is readily available. This eliminates the possibility of forgetting the information and
ensures that you can handle an emergency quickly and effectively.
Along with emergency and contact information, ask about the child s typical schedule when they eat
meals, if and/or when they take a nap, and other basic rules the parent has. Do your best to stick to
these schedules, but do not force the schedule on the child. Sometimes kids get tired sooner than
naptime or are not hungry at dinnertime. This is completely okay. Do not be afraid to upset the parent
by not following the schedule strictly. Generally, children are unpredictable and schedules are only

Why Trust Is A Bond That Brings Humans
Hard to gain; easily lost. Trust is earned, not given. Trust is a bond that brings humans as closely as
love does. Trust could be a feeling, or a cause and effect type of thing. Of course, one cannot say that
trust is infinite. Because trust can be gained and lost, and is seen in the actions of us humans as we live
our lives. Some perceive trust as being put it in things such as, God, science, doctors, parents, or even
water treatment plant operators. Other people look at trust only within in a relationship perspective,
such as, being there for your mate. For example, trusting, supporting and showing genuine care for
one another. Trust would also be demonstrated through consistency in his/her actions. For example,
showing up for dates agreed upon time. Keeping private information just between the two of you and
always respecting boundaries. If you only look at trust from these ways you limit trust. Trust covers
nearly every aspect of our lives and displays who you are as individuals. Trust should be earned not
given, and some of the traits of trust are authenticity, experience, confidence, honesty, and integrity.
Authenticity is a trait of trust. Being authentically trustworthy requires that you be honest in all your
dealings big and small. For example, a big way of being authentic in all your dealings is let s say that
you re married to your wife/husband and he/she is going to alcohol for relief from stress. You know
going to alcohol isn t beneficial for them, so the

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bags Since 1985, America has been using plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles making them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ; made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. They both require the same materials for creation such as oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels). Fossil fuels are the prehistoric resources formed by plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. These fuels won t be replaced for another millions of years to come, that is why they re called non renewable resources. Plastic is very valuable, but humans decide that is more than okay to litter these valuable resources than to recycle it and prevent some of the corruption and over usage of resources we may not have in a distant future. Although plastic bags, as well as paper bags, can be recycled in order to postpone running out of resources, the creation and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Evolution Of Classical Music In The 1800 s Plato once said, Music Gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. Music has touched the human soul since the dawn of time. In the Bible times, music was directly related to the worship of God. For example, David the Psalms talks about dancing and music to praise God with the lute, and cymbal . Music, like much of everything else, has been affected due to the fall. Music was still mostly used for worship and praise of God until the early 1800 s. Between the 16th and 18th Century the classical genera of music evolved greatly. Bach, Mozart, and Vivaldi all wrote music within the classical genera, but within different eras of classical music. 1600 through 1750 saw the rise of Baroque genera ... • 5. The Counter Terrorism Law Counter terrorism Law No one can deny that the word terrorism is hated to be heard. Terrorism is commonly known as any action referring to violence against innocent citizens or causing damages to a public or private property for political purposes. According to Maria Keet, (Senior Lecturer with the Department of Computer Science, University of Cape Town) Terrorism is resulted due to plenty of causes that made such a phenomenon be a public concern. Separatism is probably the main reason of arising of terrorism. The conflict between people is due to nationalism and racism issues. This conflict arises with the existence of inequality, racism and political opportunities. Other reason of arising of terrorism is poverty and social inequality. Some statistics proved that 15% of the population consumes 85% of the resources all over the world which made the other 85% of population fight for these resources by any means. Last but not the least; Religion is one of the causes of terrorism especially in Egypt. Terrorism became widely spread in the Egyptian streets after the 30th June revolution in 2013. After the sacking of the former president, who belonged to a religious organization, his supporters decided to spread terrorism all over the country until the former president gets back to his position as a president of Arab Republic of Egypt. Since then, this terroristic organization performs a terroristic operation which had many impacts on Egypt and Egyptians. Since June 2013, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Politics behind Dante’s Inferno The Divine Comedy is much more than an epic poem depicting a man s interpretation of Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. Written by Italian poet, Dante Alighieri, the Divine Comedy frequently alludes to the political turmoil that was prevalent throughout 14th century Italy, specifically, the city of Florence. During this period of Italian history, there was a lack of a stable government and a power struggle between the Papacy and the Holy Roman Emperor. This paper will analyze the political aspects within the Divine Comedy and its connection to religion, focusing specifically on the Inferno. During Dante s lifetime, two factions were in constant conflict amongst each other over control of his home of Florence; the Guelphs, supporters of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sixth circle of hell are where the souls of the heretics are found, and burning in their open graves is the way they suffer for the rest of eternity. The seventh circle of hell is where the souls of the violent reside. This circle of hell is separated into three different sections, representing the 3 different types of violence separated by rings; 1) violence against neighbors, 2) violence against oneself, and 3) violence against God. The outer ring, those who commit violence against their neighbors, are punished by being submerged into the Phlegethon, a river of boiling blood. Anyone who tries to leave have arrows shot at them by Centaurs. Those in the middle rings who committed violence against themselves, or suicide, are punished by being turned into trees and bushes, in which harpies feed upon them. The trees can only talk when they have their branches ripped off. The middle ring also houses profligates, or those who destroyed their lives by recklessly spending money. • 7. Slaves Reaction To The Haitian Revolution The Haitian Revolution is known to be one of the main focal points in the history of slave. It is known for being the biggest and triumphant slave revolution in the Western Hemisphere. The Haitian Revolution was the only revolt that led to the creation of a state free from slavery. Past the struggling, the people of Haiti eventually, after this whole situation, won their independence from the mother country France. This event in American history is crucial to teaching about the lives of slaves and the struggle of slavery. In around 1791, slaves started to defy authority and revolt against the government. These revolts did not stop until early 1804. The Haitian Revolution, nevertheless, was significantly more mind boggling, comprising of a few transformations going on at the same time. Slaves reaction to the French Revolution in a way that sort of jump started the revolution and got it going. Saint Dominigue, which is what Haiti is now known, blossomed with wealth during the 18th century. It simply thrived off of crops such as indigo, sugar, coffee and cotton. The French Revolution played a big part in the slaves just having enough of their rulers. However, by the time the French Revolution started settling down in 1789, there were five particular social classes of people, if you will. It started off with the plantation owners, also known as the white growers, who obviously owned the slaves and the land. The other group was known as petit blancs. They had tasks such as being a craftsman, or as they called it an artisan, a business specialist, and some even became teachers. The petit blancs were free slaves, but some of them eventually had slaves further down their life. Those groups combined equaled to 40,000 people. A considerable lot of the whites on Saint Dominigue started to help a freedom development that started when France forced tariffs on the things brought into the state. The grower did not as France s decision to prohibit trade with another country. In spite of their calls for freedom, both the grower and petit blancs stayed focused on the establishment of servitude. • 8. My Life Changed For The Worst I remember the day so vividly, the day that my life changed for the worst. It was just like every other year. We were going to get Tux, my cat, shaved. He s a long haired cat so we get him shaved every summer so he does not get unbearably hot. This year was slightly different, though. Along with getting him shaved, we were getting some potential tumors checked to see if they were cancerous, and get them removed. Although I was nervous about the tumors, I did not think much of it because nobody expects their cat to have cancer. The car ride to the vet was just like every other time, except the traffic was heavier than usual that morning. It was around 7 o clock in the morning. It was a sunny day, probably around 80 degrees. My mom and I were carrying on small talk, and we had the radio playing quietly for background noise in hope of it calming Tux down. My mom thought it was annoying how much Tux talks in the car, but I find it very humorous. He never talks more than he does when he goes on car rides. We finally arrived at the vet clinic, after what seemed to be such a long car ride between Tux crying and all the traffic along the way. I picked the heavy cage up off my lap that held Tux inside of it. My mom went over to the receptionist to her know that we had arrived, but Tux and I went to go sit down in the waiting area. I had on my favorite pair of Soffee shorts, and I could not quit thinking about how cold it was inside the animal clinic. I remember when I sat down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Three Main Causes Of The Civil War The North and South citizens were divided because of their huge differences. The tension between them consisted of having disagreements on slavery, economical and political differences. The hate and violence against each other later on led to the infamous Civil War. The Civil War, also known as the War Between States , began in 1861 and lasted for four deadly years. This war of disputes and misery led to the division of the two nations, the North and the South. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were politics, economy, and slavery. The first main cause of the Civil War was conflict between the North and the South about politics. During the election of 1860, Abraham Lincoln was a candidate of the North while J.C. Breckinridge was the candidate of the South. Abraham Lincoln successfully won with 180 electoral votes. This caused tension between the North and the South because Abraham Lincoln was against the expansion of slavery (Doc N). The Kansas Nebraska Act is an example of this. The Missouri Compromise Line of 1820 was repealed when the Kansas Nebraska Act of 1845 was passed. The act organized territories on the principle of popular sovereignty. This created a lot of stir between the two nations. In a cartoon created by Harry T. Peters in 1856, it is shown that Preston Brooks, a member of the House of Representatives, attacking Senator Charles Sumner, an abolitionist from Massachusetts, with a cane. This happened after Sumner attacked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Camargo s The Ballet Body The Ballet Body The origin of the dance figure was in the eighteenth century. A young dancer by the name of Marie Camargo became a prominent figure on the stage. She was light footed sure of her steps and shorter than all of the male dancers on the stage. Her timing for her career was perfect. This was at the time that it became fashionable to go to the ballet. Camargo became famous and every young dancer in the world wanted to go to the same dance company so that they could share in her fame. The company would not let any new dancers in who were taller than their star performer. As girls reached five feet five their dreams would be smashed at the realization that they would never have Camargo s figure. This new dancer also redefined the shape of the classical ballet dancer. Before her debut on the stage the ballet dancers were not traditionally small, but due to her popularity, the new figure became mandatory to succeed in the world of ballet. • 11. External Changes And Internal Reforms Have the external changes and internal reforms of the last 40 years led to the retreat or revival of the liberal democratic state? Introduction Over the past 40 years, through internal reforms and external changes, many liberal democratic states are seen as losing their autonomy over their very own borders. Therefore, many assert that the states are in the retreat, however in this essay, it will argue that the states are in fact in the state of revival because of New public management and Europeanization. This essay will first explain what internal reforms are and how they revive the power of the state. It will then move on to explain what the external changes are and how they also revive the power of the state. Lastly, the conclusion will consolidate all the arguments to support why the state is in the revival. Internal Reforms Internal reforms For United Kingdom, many internal reforms happened during Margaret Thatcher and John Major s government. The reforms (Richards, David Smith, Martin, 2002) were Rayernism, The Financial Management Initiative and the Next Steps (Privatization and Marketization). On the other hand, United States NPM is known as Managerialism (Lynn, 2006). Unlike UK, managerialism has existed in USA since the late 19th century. However, it only became notable during Ronald Reagan s presidency. Some of the USA s reform were deinstitutionalization, privatization, cost effectiveness scrutiny and policy budgeting. Sad is the part, in the southeastern of Florida, quite a few number of people incorporated in Mafia are manipulating the lives of the rest. Actions of Goneril in Shakespeare s King Lear Essay Actions of Goneril in Shakespeare s King Lear Whenever the issue of power allocation arises, there usually emerge a few individuals who, given only a moderate amount of authority, overstep their bounds to exert more dominance than they rightfully own; such is the case with Goneril. Yet, although Goneril certainly errs in betraying the very father that bestowed a large dominion upon her, King Lear deserves much of the blame for Goneril s haughtiness. After grossly misinterpreting the reticence of his heretofore prized daughter Cordelia, Lear divides his kingdom between the mendacious Goneril and the scheming Regan, thereby leaving the fate of the land at their unskilled mercies. Naturally, Goneril relishes her newfound control, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Goneril s first underhanded act, falsely professing an exalted love for her father solely in order to gain more land, does not constitute an isolated incident; Lear s blindness to the love of Cordelia fosters Goneril s megalomaniacal tendencies as well as permits likeminded Regan, of the self same metal that [Goneril] is, to commit the same trespass (1.1, 69). Although Goneril speaks first and delivers a very calculated response, Cordelia s genuine, candid answer should have trumped the transparent rejoinders of her sisters. Instead, Lear falls victim to their ploy and invests far too much command in Goneril; she responds as would anyone of her ambitious disposition and decides that she must do something, and i the heat, meaning take advantage of Lear s burgeoning infirmity (1.1, 308). The second contention for Goneril s wickedness stems from her ordering Oswald, a steward, to snub Lear s men, and from her extreme exaggeration of the men s supposedly decadent antics. This argument, however, does not take into account the sentiments of Goneril as a married woman, a lady of the house. In saying, if he dislike it, let him to our sister, she reveals her intent to use negligent servants as a modus operandus for getting Lear out of her castle and on the road to that of Regan (1.3, 14). • 20. Empiricism and Experience Empiricism Empiricism by nature is the belief that there is no knowledge without experience. How can one know what something tastes like if they have never tasted it? For example, would someone know that an apple is red if they have never actually have seen one. Someone can tell you an apple is red, but, if you never have seen one, can you really be sure? Empiricists use three anchor points in which they derive their opinions from. The first of these points is; the only source of genuine knowledge is sense experience. An easier way to understand this is to compare the mind to a clean sponge. As the sponge touches things, it takes with it, a piece of everything it touches. Without this, the sponge would remain clean and be void of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second epistemological question is; does reason provide us with knowledge of the world independently of experience? John Locke says the answer to this question is no. He uses arguments discussed in the third anchor point of empiricism to support this idea. Locke does not believe that reason alone can provide knowledge because we do not possess innate knowledge that we are not aware of. To best describe this Locke proposes this model: Suppose the mind to be, as we say, white paper, void of all characters, without any ideas; how comes it to be furnished? When man has painted on it with endless variety, how does it have all the materials of reason and knowledge to this question I answer, in one word, from experience. In that all our knowledge is founded, and from that, it ultimately drives itself (p94). Therefore, without these experiences Locke believes that we would not possess the concept of reason and because of that reason alone cannot provide us knowledge of the world. Berkeley s answer to the second question is no as well. He believed that it was only through experience and not reason that we have any knowledge of reality. Since our experiences differ from each individual, reality too will differ for each individual. These ideas as he calls them are the concrete contents of our minds. These ideas are provided through experience and not reason. Therefore, we can not posses knowledge through our reasoning because that reasoning would be based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He wanted a Pentagon where the secretary would have his own large staff that would provide civilian advice. This advice would only allow the secretary to be the only one able to assess alternatives. This would also allow him to be the only one making choices when it comes to defining budgets, foreign policy, military strategy, and integrating forces and weapons. Budgets in the 50s were done by services instead of missions and used estimates that had an unclear validity. There was no way that duplication nor functional gaps could be identified. Concerns arose from discrepancies about the defense posture on whether it had rational basis for the allocation of resources. McNamara also proposed a system analysis that calculated the defense needs, but it had its limits. One of the major subjects Confucianism addresses is China s politics and government during Confucius s time. Confucius tries to offer solutions through his philosophy to better China and its people. Confucius s Analects is a critique of the dire rulers and China s government, and tries to provide solutions to better China. Confucius lived in China during the Spring and Autumn period, which is 571 449 BCE. During this period China s government and its rulers were corrupt, and because of this Confucius s philosophy heavily revolves at trying to fix the current problem his society faces by trying to issue solutions within his philosophy. One of the major themes that Confucius always goes back to when talking about how China can become better is to go back to tradition. Tradition to Confucius meant not following mystical entities or abstract ideas, but to follow a simple system like the times of early China. Fallacies can be persuasive and be made both accidentally and deliberately to delude others from the truth. Fallacies can be difficult to avoid if one does not have the mind of a critical thinker. Introduction Hukou is a household registration system that the government uses it to control migration of the population (Zhang, 29). Simply put, hukou is a migration control system. Typologically speaking, hukou is an official identification system that records a resident s presence including his or her name, birth, economic power and rank, employment status, and other relevant information. Obstruction may happen, as the government would require doing a lot of complex work in allocating the resources and social welfares. Nevertheless, one has to understand that production, investment, prices, and incomes determine centrally by the government under the command economic system. The hukou system not only separates the population into two categories but also regulates internal migration. Consider of that, the hukou system becomes a perfect choice in implementing a command economic system. This is because the hukou system not only ease government s burden but also curb the growth of the urban population; restricting rural residents from moving into urban centres, where places usually have a better living environments. Electromagnetic Tracking Research Paper The implementation of electromagnetic tracking (EM) to verify nasogastric tube placement is a new concept that can provide better and safer patient care. Many people die of improper placement of nasogastric tube each year. The misplacement of these tubes, if not verified correctly, can cause severe injury to the patient or even death. Fundamentals of Nursing, believe that X ray is the best way to verify placement (Potter, Perry, Stockert, Hall, 2013). In the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics and the British Journal of Nursing they both find that Electromagnetic tracking is the safest way. It is important to check for verification because this type of harm is preventable. New evidence based practice states that the use of electromagnetic tracking is safer versus the use of pH, X ray, and CT scanning (Taylor S. et al., 2014). Another benefit to using this method is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is so crucial to confirm the tube placement because of possible harm that can be done to the patient. About 1.9% of feeding tubes are misplaced every year. This can lead to pneumothorax in 1 in every 5 patients and dead in 1 in 39 patients (Taylor S. et al., 2014). Using X ray to confirm placement would be too late to prevent lung trauma. PH is done also but is not always accurate and should not be used solely as proof to confirm placement. Waiting on the confirmation of placement can delay the administration of treatment or nutrition. Using the EM tracking system the patient is less likely to have the tube enter the lungs. While a patient is unconscious their gag reflex is often impaired (Potter et al., 2013). This increases the patient s risk for aspiration. When inserting the tube in an unconscious patient there is a greater risk for harm. Potter suggests that X ray is the better option for confirmation of placement but X ray exposure can also be harmful to the patient (Windle E. et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once the phenomenon is examined within a conceptual framework; I intend to go further with a methodological understanding and questioning of the mechanism in which immigration is modelled, measured, and intervened with the policies. In order to inquire this, the first emphasis goes on the link between theory and measurement; and then to the way the scientific process is translated into real world via policy making. Thinking how numbers dependency on the subject matter (individuals) can easily turn to the dependency of individuals to the numbers just because policy matters for people; a proper understanding and measuring people and their environment as a whole appears to be essential. So, the extent these indices recognize identity can be symbolized as the extent states and policies recognize immigrants as they have identities (heterogeneous mixture), in interaction with others, and do change. Following the discussion on the problems in the economic theory; the validity of the indices would then depend on how adequately they take the individuals, their change and interaction into account. If what matters in immigration is not only an ultimate goal set in one point of time or its consequences in performance in an isolated work place; but the goals, as individuals do, evolve within interaction of identities of all entities (people, groups, institutions, lands) maybe in different frequencies or different ways; then indices as the way authorities understand individuals should well take this into account. b. • 46. Contrasting Views of Douglass, Delaney, and Garnet Contrasting Views of Douglass, Delany, and Garnet Frederick Douglass had integrationist views. These included the right of women to vote and to be interested in and involved in politics just as much as men (Huggins Handlin, 1997). He believed at the time that women were being cheated out of their rights, and also that the country and political system was being cheated because women were not having their voices heard. The more he studied the Constitution, the more he decided that it was against slavery. Before, he had thought the document supported having slaves. From there, Douglass attacked the hypocrisy that he believed was so strong in the US, along with the hypocrisy that he also believed was strongly seen in the Christian church (Huggins Handlin, 1997). He advocated for education, and for making men and women, black and white more equal than they were. During that time in his life, he called for the court to rule to let black children into school so they could get an education. Slave rebellions were suggested, but Douglass would not support them. He did not feel as though violence was the answer to the problems black people faced (Huggins Handlin, 1997). In contrast to Douglass, Delany and Garnet had nationalist views that were focused on obtaining justice and equality for them as free men (Levine, 1997; Piersen, 1993). While Delany worked with Douglass to some extent on a newspaper venture and other movements, most of the work done by Delany was centered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result, Carefoote had decided to invest in capital expansion to increase Amsterdam s brewing capacity. Several problems were created like The Ontario Craft Brewers Organisation didn t promote craft breweries because its laws were not supportive for craft breweries. After that, in order to increase brewing capacity, Amsterdam moved operations to midtown Toronto and the high capital costs for expansion made Carefoote hesitate. Moreover, the brewing time was also connected to the beer s retail selling price because some beers required more complex processes that resulted in higher costs and higher selling prices. This had an adverse affect on the Amsterdam Brewery and other stakeholders too because it had failed to translate into increased sales of the product offsite. • 50. The Fundamental Difference Between Childhood And Adulthood After Every Storm, the Sun Will Smile I did not even have the power to wipe away the rain drops as they slid down my face. I was too mesmerized by the world below me. All I could do at that moment in time was watch everything I had ever known be demolished. That was the day it hit me, making me understand what life was about. As I stood high above the rest of the world on a bank, in my pink little rain boots, I had realized that it was time to grow up. There is a fundamental difference between childhood and adulthood. Some differences are obvious: height, life experience, intellectual knowledge, but these are only superficial differences. The fundamental difference between children and adults is how we view the world, our community, and life as a whole. In most cases, it takes just that one life changing event to fulfill the transformation from child to adult. This was mine. As I watched my tiny town of Margaretville drown under a flooding river, my fourteen year old self, who was devastated and confused, looked up at my father and asked, Why? It was the only thing I could manage to say. It is Hurricane Irene, Honey I remember him saying. Who was this Irene and why was she punishing my innocent town, were the questions that ran through my mind. I would soon learn how this was a natural disaster, Hurricane Irene of 2011, and there was nothing my little self could do about it, at least not alone. The river running directly through Margaretville creates a source of life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Persuasive Speech On Babysitting Many teenagers turn toward babysitting as a means of earning money. However, the first time a person babysits can be nerve wracking. Children are unimaginably important to their parents. It takes a lot of trust for a parent to put his or her child in the care and protection of a babysitter. This puts an immense amount of pressure on a babysitter to be perfect. Despite all the stress babysitting can bring, it is easy if you follow four simple rules. When first arriving at the house, it is important to ask for all the necessary contact and emergency information, so that if anything bad happened, you would know who to call and what to do. Because an emergency is a high stress situation, you could easily forget the emergency information. It is helpful to write down the information as you receive it and putting it somewhere that is readily available. This eliminates the possibility of forgetting the information and ensures that you can handle an emergency quickly and effectively. Along with emergency and contact information, ask about the child s typical schedule when they eat meals, if and/or when they take a nap, and other basic rules the parent has. Do your best to stick to these schedules, but do not force the schedule on the child. Sometimes kids get tired sooner than naptime or are not hungry at dinnertime. This is completely okay. Do not be afraid to upset the parent by not following the schedule strictly. Generally, children are unpredictable and schedules are only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Why Trust Is A Bond That Brings Humans Hard to gain; easily lost. Trust is earned, not given. Trust is a bond that brings humans as closely as love does. Trust could be a feeling, or a cause and effect type of thing. Of course, one cannot say that trust is infinite. Because trust can be gained and lost, and is seen in the actions of us humans as we live our lives. Some perceive trust as being put it in things such as, God, science, doctors, parents, or even water treatment plant operators. Other people look at trust only within in a relationship perspective, such as, being there for your mate. For example, trusting, supporting and showing genuine care for one another. Trust would also be demonstrated through consistency in his/her actions. For example, showing up for dates agreed upon time. Keeping private information just between the two of you and always respecting boundaries. If you only look at trust from these ways you limit trust. Trust covers nearly every aspect of our lives and displays who you are as individuals. Trust should be earned not given, and some of the traits of trust are authenticity, experience, confidence, honesty, and integrity. Authenticity is a trait of trust. Being authentically trustworthy requires that you be honest in all your dealings big and small. For example, a big way of being authentic in all your dealings is let s say that you re married to your wife/husband and he/she is going to alcohol for relief from stress.
