Should School Lunches Be Longer
Have you ever felt under a major time church when it came to school lunch? In a poll conducted in
2013 by National Public Radio, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard School of
Public Health, 20 percent of parents of students from kindergarten through fifth grade told us that their
child gets 15 minutes or less to eat. School lunches should be longer because students feel rushed to
eat and having too little time to eat leads to unhealthy choices. The first reason school lunches should
be longer is because several students feel rushed to eat. Deborah Taylor, director of the Shawnee
School Nutrition Services in Oklahoma, told USA Today that when people look back on the childhood
obesity epidemic, they may blame the way kids rushed through meals, both at school and at home. It
takes more time to chew a whole apple than applesauce, Helen Phillips, president of the School
Nutrition Association, told USA Today. Eating an entrée salad takes longer than eating a cheeseburger
or chicken nuggets, because of the crunching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With less than 20 minutes to eat the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found students
ate 13 percent less of their main entree and 12 percent less of their vegetables. They drank 10 percent
less milk, too, compared with students who had 25 minutes or more to eat. Many children, especially
those from low income families, rely on school meals for up to half their daily energy intake, so it is
essential that we give students a sufficient amount of time to eat their lunches, Juliana Cohen, Rimm s
colleague at Harvard and the study s lead author, said in a statement. The U.S. government
recommends that children have a minimum of 20 minutes to actually eat their lunch. However, many
nutrition experts say even this is not enough for children to properly eat and digest their food before

The Theorist That I Chose To Write About Is Jean Piaget.
The theorist that I chose to write about is Jean Piaget. His theory deals with the nature of knowledge
itself and how humans gradually come to acquire it. His theory is basically known as the
developmental stage theory. In the developmental stage theory there are four different stages of the
developmental theory: the sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational
period.
Jean Piaget was born in Neuchâtel (Switzerland) on August 9, 1896. He was the oldest child of Arthur
Piaget and Rebecca Jackson. At age 11, when he was just a mere child at Neuchâtel Latin high school,
he wrote a short paper on an albino sparrow. This short notice is usually the start of an intelligent
scientific career made of over 60 books ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He died in Geneva on September, 1980.
Piaget s theory consisted of three different stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete
Operational, and Formal Operational. I ll start out by talking about the first one, sensorimotor. During
the sensorimotor stage, infants and toddlers acquire knowledge through sensory experiences and
manipulating objects. It was his observations of his daughter and nephew that heavily influenced his
conception of this stage. At this point in development, a child s intelligence consists of their basic
motor and sensory explorations of the world. Piaget believed that developing object constancy, the
understanding that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be seen, played an important role
at this point of development. By learning that objects are separate and distinct items and that they have
a presence of their own outside of what an individual perceives it to be, children are then able to begin
to attach names and words to objects. The next stage in the developmental theory is the Preoperational
stage. At this stage, kids learn through pretend play but still struggle with logic and taking the point of
view of other people. They also often struggle with understanding the ideal of constancy. For example,
a researcher might take a lump of clay, divide it into two equal pieces, and then give a child the choice
between two pieces of clay to play with. One piece of clay is rolled into a compact ball

Is Reconstruction Better Continuity Or Change Essay
Is Reconstruction better characterized as an era of continuity or change? Section 1: Introduction After
the Civil War, America had many problems to solve. With many dead, the south in open rebellion, and
over 3 million slaves freed, America was destined to change in many ways. Change occurs when there
is variance is political, economic, and social systems. Reconstruction is characterized as an era of
change due the immense changes that occurred politically, economically, and socially. Section 2: Body

Many argue that the practice of sharecropping was just a continuation of slavery. Oftentimes,
conditions were poor and the compensation terms for work were unfair. Due to illiteracy, the
sharecropping contract was not even read by the farmer, begging the question that a contract was
legitimate and that the farmer even agreed to the terms. A sharecropping contract from 1865 reads, we
furthermore bind ourselves that we will obey the orders of Ross in all things in carrying out and
managing the crop. Quotes from contracts like this one begs the question, was sharecropping really
that different from slavery? People also argue that racism from pre Civil War America was the same as
racism during reconstruction. Racism was even used as a political tactic by some during
Reconstruction. In Democratic party campaign speech, a candidate for Alabama governor proclaims,
social ostracism of all those who act, sympathize or side with the negro party, or who support or

Fire Hydrant Research Paper
The usage of fire hydrants has been an essential part of fire extinguishing in the United States. Before
the creation of the fire hydrant, fire plugs and bucket brigades were used to access water. The word
hydrant appeared for the first time in connection with Philadelphia s municipal water system. The
initial use of the hydrant was used for both firefighting and a source of sanitary water for the
community (Wohleber, 2002). Fire hydrants can be found in various of places that allows fire fighters
to access water when needed. Over the years, it has provided active protection and local water supply
to the community. A fire hydrant allows for quick access to water and is an important device for
fighting dangerous fires. It was believed that Frederick Graff, Chief Engineer of the Philadelphia
Water Works, invented the pillar type cast fire hydrant in 1801. ... Show more content on

The initial creation of the fire hydrant was very different than what we think of it today. It started off
with having to use buckets of water to using a hand pumping system to fire hydrants storing water
underground. As of today, there are over 6 million fire hydrants located across the United States and
are easily located with different markings. The purpose of this creation was it allowed for a safe and
active fire protection measure and a source for water storage. When responding to a fire emergency,
fire hydrants are useful in situations when there is a lack of supply for water. To prevent the misuse of
the hydrant, it requires special tools to be opened, such as a pentagonal wrench to remove the valve
that covers the hydrant (Jones, 2009). Fire trucks are unable to carry big tanks that hold all the water
and so having these devices located in the community enables them to have access to all the water
they need. Hydrants are designed to allow about 250 gallons of water to flow through the hydrants per
minute (Jones,

Wealth In The Gilded Age During The Gilded Age
During the Gilded Age some people were becoming very wealthy and everyone had an opinion on
what they should do with this wealth, also who they should help with this money, and how much
money they should give. This new wealth was not expected and along with it came opinions and
judgment of all economic classes. The opinions range from Social Darwinism, which William Graham
Sumner believed in, to Andrew Carnegie s Gospel of Wealth and to Walter Rauschenbusch s The
Social Gospel. William Graham Sumner was a firm believer in Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism
is the belief in survival of the fittest, so the strongest in society are the ones who become wealthy.
With this wealth Sumner believed that the wealthy should use it to support the other classes to give
them opportunity to become wealthy themselves. According to Sumner If you get wealth, you will
have to support the other people; if you do not get wealth, it will be the duty of other people to support
you. (Sumner) In this quote Sumner is saying that no matter who the wealthy people are they will have
to support the lower class and give them the chance to become wealthy. Through his ideas of social
darwinism he believes that everyone should be given an equal opportunity to become wealthy and
then the strongest in society will become wealthy. He does not believe that the wealth should stay in
the already wealthy families because not every person in the family will be the strongest in society.
Along with this he says We

My Personality Test
Cambridge Dictionary defines personality as the special combination of qualities in a person that
makes that person different from others, as shown by the way the person behaves, feels, and thinks .
There are many tests out there that will help you piece together what personality type you have, one of
which I have taken recently. The personality test that I took on My Personality Test .com told me I am
an ISTJ (Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging) personality type. The main characteristics

Jude or small things like picking trash up off the ground. Due to these qualities, ISTJs are viewed as
reliable, trustworthy, honest, and likeable (My Personality Test). These are all the good qualities
associated with this personality type that are true for myself but there are some qualities that can be
considered weaknesses. Our weaknesses are that we always stick to our own beliefs/values and trust
our judgement above that of others (sometimes even if we are wrong) which can make us inflexible or
stubborn sometimes (My Personality Test). Sometimes, if I think I am right, I will defend my answer
or solution (even if I am actually wrong) to the point where I know I am wrong, but I just do not want
to admit it. We may be unaccepting or judgmental sometimes toward other people due to differing
values (My Personality Test). ITSJs try to find other people who share our interests and/or try to get
them to see things our way (My Personality Test). Because we like to deal mostly with reason and
logic, processing emotions may be difficult (expressing ours and understanding others) (My
Personality Test). ITSJs like routine and structure in our daily life which may make dealing with or
getting used to new/unusual situations challenging or troublesome (My Personality Test). Tradition is
important to us and changing it can be discomforting and is one reason why using a tried and true

Obama main reason was to talk to the people of Cuba, and to forget about the past and look to the

A Brief Note On The Documentary Program Essay
Documentary Program Essay I have met so many people who have given me a new perspective to
look at the world, who struck me with their values and characteristics, who have become inspirations
in my stories. I would like to tell stories that reflect certain problems and bring awareness to the
society. Here is a story that I would like to explore in depth: For decades, the phenomena of human
trafficking and smuggling in China have never stopped. While poor women and children were
trafficked for sexual exploitation and adoption, many young men were voluntarily smuggled to the
West due to their belief in having a richer and better life overseas . People pay money to the
snakeheads who have connections overseas and be shipped in cargo ships: some died of suffocation
during the journey, and some were detained in prisons and deported. Fujian, a southern province, has
been a hotbed of trafficking and smuggling in China. For more than a century, Fujianese had been
moving to the West both legally and illegally. Death or bitter lives have never taken away their desires
to earn money and prestige, but they have been living a hard life that outsiders could never have
imagined, and they would never be the insiders of these western countries.

Choosing A Valedictorian In Margaret Talbot s Best In Class
In Best in Class , author Margaret Talbot challenges the traditional system of choosing a valedictorian
by exposing the emotional opposition to the system s change as the subtle manipulation of her writing
to emphasize specific opinions and emotions to further the idea that it is time for the valedictorian
system to change.
Talbot uses an actual event where the process of choosing a valedictorian was extremely stressful for
the students. Talbot introduces her claim with the incident of Sarasota High School to display to the
readers how students will go by any means to receive valedictorian. As a result of complaints of many
parents, who have high expectations of their children, teachers began to feel entitled to awarding the

Lawsuits, having a negative connotation to many schools, occur very often when it comes to the
arrangement of deciding on a valedictorian. Talbot refers to multiple cases regarding lawsuits as well
as take on the different opinions on each issue. She emphasizes each concern by discussing the
negative effects on both the students and the teachers that allowed the idea to share valedictorians. By
associating herself with multiple sources, who vary from professors to students themselves, Talbot
strengthens her credibility as well as appeal to older readers, who may possibly be parents of studious
children. The author jumps back and forth to multiple sub subjects of her argument to view the
different perspectives of the main argument, yet by using certain phrases, Talbot hints that her claim is
that there really shouldn t be a single valedictorian. Talbot stresses the events in which having a single
valedictorian has only a negative effect, which can be seen clearly through her choice of words. Even
though Talbot presents multiple claims that contradict each other, she strongly represents her claim in
paragraph 31, where she proposes an idea that isn t entirely like the traditional single valedictorian
system, this enhances the personal anecdote Talbot creates with the

Descriptive Essay About The Pool
Alright, kiddos, Teacher announces, we re here. Before we head into the pool, let s check. What are
the pool rules again?
An assortment of enthusiastic voices cries out, Sunscreen, get a buddy, we have to see you Anything

That s right, confirms Teacher, you need sunscreen, a swimming buddy, eyes on me, and you MUST, I

The short walk to the pool is a blur to Zane. His mind is elsewhere thinking of all the fun things he s
going to do, I m gonna make big splashes and race my friends and go to the deep end and do cool
things and make big splashes. When the pool finally comes into view, it s a paradise. An ocean of
clear, wavy water covers all the eye can see. Zane can see all the way to the bottom, and if not for the
distorting ripples he would believe it to be empty. The pool makes a distinct L shape, branching off to
the side to mark the deeper waters. It is already occupied with people of all ages. Most are lounging
around on rafts or in inner tubes, but some of the younger inhabitants are gleefully splashing and
flailing about. Multicolored balls soar through the air, descending until forced skywards with a
satisfying whack. Just as Zane had imagined, children are in competition, playing water tag, racing

The United States came out of World War II ready to concentrate on domestic issues, but
unfortunately, the more pressing issue of the Cold War needed addressing. Democracy and
communism challenged the world order and the United States and the USSR took center stage on
determining the world s economic, social and political future for the next forty five years. Each
American president handled the power differently, acted on what he thought was in the best interest of
the United States, and took on the Cold War through words and actions that often translated to real
war but never directly with Russia.
The basis of the idea was clearly spoken in a 1946 cable by U.S. peacekeeper George F. Kennan
during the after World War II management of U.S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Up The Wall By Bruce Dawe
Bruce Dawe, one of the most influential Australian poets of his time was known for using his poems
as a way to efficiently discuss the matters in society of his time and how this follows through
generation, thus becoming a significant matter for his modern audience. Both Dawe s poems The Not
So Good Earth and Up The Wall have successfully demonstrated the issues of the complacency of our
society towards the world around us and their issues and the disconnection this thenceforth creates in
everyday life and how this impacts the individual. Dawe s poem, Up The Wall, truly validates the
impact of the suburban, everyday lifestyle on the individual and how the loneliness this creates can
push someone to the edge. Dawe s use of onomatopoeia with the abrupt words of shrieked and
screams really imposes that internal struggle the woman was experiencing. The use of direct dialogue,
spoken by the women when she speaks, they nearly drove me up the wall! although whom she was
speaking to was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the use of a simile, like a horizon he argues that the individual s lifestyle has no sense of
change and their day is always the same routine, which evokes the acceptance and no thought for
change. The dialogue of the final sestet from the two people conversing outside of the household is
deeply ironic due to the detection of disconnectedness from the outside world, indicating the lack of
dialogue, as no one is aware of her misery. Dawe uses repetition in this dialogue, quiet... too quiet
which reiterates the detachment from society and the fragility of our humanity and what has become
of us as a whole. Through Up The Wall, Bruce Dawe effectively demonstrates the issues of the
complacent society our world has become and how ordinary life has affected individuals in a way that
we have become completely detached from our

What Is The Importance Of Breakfast Essay
Importance of Breakfast The best breakfast contains more than just complex carbohydrates. If you
consume a protein drink along with your carbs, you ll not only enhance glycogen storage but you ll
also have insurance against any breakdown of structural protein that occurs when aerobic intensity
gets to be a bit much If you regularly skip breakfast, break that habit right now! Breakfast is not just
another meal it is the meal. In fact, the word itself reveals its importance. It s the first meal to break
the fast. After three or more hours between dinner and bedtime, and then at least six hours of sleep,
your body is craving nutrients. This would be an ideal time to have some protein mixed with some
carbs. You need this right now, because the instant you wake up, your brain needs fuel. And your brain
burns almost nothing but carbohydrates as a fuel source. (It also burns a very small amount of fat). If
you don t get some carbs into your system first thing, you run the risk of forcing your body to convert
amino acids from your muscles to carbs for use as a fuel source. Can t handle a full breakfast first
thing? At least have a scoop of protein powder with a banana or strawberries mixed in a blender. Have
the shake and then wait a few minutes. By then you may be able to eat a little more solid food. ...

Community Organization Intensifies Community Stability and...
Crisis in community is a regular phenomenon. The need for community organizing addressing
community crises is, therefore, evident and perpetual. Bill Lee (2011) suggests that a pragmatic
approach to community organizing intensifies community actions addressing community crises
associated with the problem of inequality, environmental degradation and crises, and economic
instabilities. This paper intends to explore the influences and effects of Pragmatic of Community
organization on innovation and vice versa.
Bill Lee identifies community as a complex notion of the way people live and connect with each other
(Lee, B., 2011, p.20), and defines community organization as a social intervention which seeks to
maximize the ability of oppressed or disadvantaged people to take action and influence their
environment: ..... (Lee B., 2011, p.100). Lee also suggests that a pragmatic community organizing
should have specific objectives that include community participation, sense of community, social
production (Gamble, N. D. Weil, M., 2009, p.123), proper use of appropriate resources, and social
learning in order to achieve community goal focusing upon citizen empowerment (Lee, B., 2011, p.
94).
According to Lee, pragmatic community practice adapts two approaches namely healing or traditional
social work approach, and reformation or structural social work approach (Lee, B., 2011, p. 77) in
order to overcome community crises associated with three perspectives such as: social,

Dr Caligari Expressionism
Considered the quintessential work of German Expressionist films, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)
remains one of the most influential films of both German cinema and the silent film era. The iconic
visual style of Caligari embodies the element of revolt that is accepted to be the basis of
Expressionism, which is defined as a total revolt against the existing order both in terms of style and
idea, society and the individual, art and ethics (Barlow 18). Caligari makes use of the mise en scène in
order to overcome the restrictions of black and white film. In this way, the expressionist stage, the
startling zigzags, the swirling arabesques and the outrageously exaggerated furniture that compose
each shot all contribute to the portrayal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caligari set the standard of the movement in film, fulfilling a number of expectations theorists had for
this transition of mediums; the set represents an emotional landscape, a projection of the intense
feelings of the main character, exaggerated acting with an extreme degree of emotional intensity
serves as a silent visual replacement of the outcry and exclamation of expressionistic poetry and
theater, and, to replace the vibrant colors of Expressionist art, there are considerable contrasts between
light and shadow (Barlow 25). All of these visual aspects made Caligari the most noteworthy of
German Expressionist films, and was more than likely the inspiration for the film noir style that
emerged several decades later. The limitations of sound and color do not detract from Caligari s ability
to visually express common themes of Weimar Germany, most prominently those of authority,
insanity, and duality. Such themes are expressed so prominently that it has led many to interpret the
film as a close examination of society in the Weimar Republic and the implications the film had for
Germany s future. Nevertheless, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari certainly influenced the revival of the
Expressionist movement through film, and its influence stands the test of

Statutory and Non-Statutory Public Services
A public service is a service that is funded by the government or by donations to help the government
deliver its actions as effectively as possible. There are two types of public services they are statutory
and non statutory services. The difference between a statutory and a non statutory service is that a
statutory service is paid by tax payers, funded by the government and is set up by the law. They are
usually uniformed and highly professional an example would be the Emergency Services and the
Armed Forces. A non statutory service is a service that doesn t receive a lot of government funding so
they are paid by members or the public as they are registered as charities, they are set up by
individuals and not parliament and unlike ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of an emergency service is the Fire and Rescue service. They work with the public
in many ways; one way is to make house calls to the elderly to make sure that they have the necessary
equipment like fire alarms to ensure safety in the home. Another form of support that the fire service
provides to the public is they have youth schemes an example of this the Safe Drive Stay Alive
program that they run for secondary schools and colleges. These youth schemes also allow members
of the fire service to go into schools and youth groups and talk to them about the dangers of fires and
how they can be prevented. Non statutory services may not be put there by law but they still play a
vital role in helping the community and statutory public services. An example is Help for Heroes
although they are for ex service personal they help support the families of the wounded. They provide
individual support to soldiers and their families, recovery centres like Headley court (rehabilitation
centre) and Fisher house (a home for wounded patients and their families), sports recovery which
helps the service personal regain confidence and independence. They may not visibly help the
community but they give the opportunity to get people of the public involved and help out

Maritime Security Barriers
In the recent times, there have been several advancements in transportation. This has been occasioned
by the globalization trends. According to McNaught (2005), international maritime security is a matter
of critical concern in the global environment. Sea transport remains one of the largest and most
effective means of transport used between continents. This paper provides a critique of the article
Improving the security of containers in port related supply chains by Johan Scholliers, Antti Permala,
Sirra Toivonen, and Hannu Salmela.
The article has an implied research question that the authors intended to answer. The question is: what
are the technological options that can be used to enhance the integrity and security of containers in
port related supply chains? In this regard, the question is academically rigorous as it examines a
current issue in the global logistics and supply chains. According to Gunasekaran (2012), there is a
growing concern that terrorists can use containers to deliver weapons of mass destruction to various
destinations. Therefore, the authors focused on a study on possible ways to solve the problem.
Research Questions and Hypothesis
The article consists of implied hypotheses or assumptions that the authors relied upon to perform the
study. One of the hypotheses is that technologies such as biometrics and radio frequency identification
(RFID) can be used to provide effective container assessment. The second hypothesis is that

A Short Note On The And Chemical Spill
1.A. Eye wash is used in the case of a chemical splash to the eyes. According to the lab information, if
a person gets chemicals in his or her eyes, that person should begin to flush their eyes with water for
15 30 minutes. The best way to accomplish flushing the eyes is to flush outward. B. Fire blankets can
be used in the laboratory to extinguish small fires, or protect oneself in the case of a fire. One should
not attempt to extinguish a large fire with a fire blanket, but should evacuate the area immediately. C.
Safety showers are used if there is a chemical spill or fire. In this case, the person affected should
stand under the shower for a minimum of 15 30 minutes. This is done to effectively flood the body of
harmful substances. D. Chemical spill kits contain items that should be used incase of chemical spills.
For example, if an acidic chemical is spilled, then a base will be used to neutralize that chemical.
Chemical spill kits are meant for surfaces not skin. E. Biological spill solution includes a 10% bleach
solution. This is used to disinfect working areas. This solution should definitely be used when working
with organisms that can cause disease. Individuals working with such organisms should protect and
cover his or her skin. 2. A. A broken glass container should be used to discard any broken glass as well
as coverslips. For example, a broken beaker should be discarded into a broken glass container to

Techniques Used In My Writing
Your time, place, and tools are very essential when it comes to writing. In order for my paper to be a

distractions helps increase my thinking skills. My room is peaceful and quiet, which allows me to
focus on completing my assignments. Libraries and computer labs are not really my favorite places of
writing because I do not feel as comfortable. Also, sometimes the temperatures are not warmer than
what I am use to and can control, so I can not concentrate. In addition, I would prefer not to write in
the mornings because I would not be as alert as I would be if I wrote an essay in the evening.
Furthermore, I have more time to my self at night. Daylight

The Problem Of The Medical Marijuana Industry
The medical marijuana industry has seen staggering growth in recent years with many state level
legalizations and the federal memo issued in 2013 that told prosecutors to leave these businesses
alone, as long as they comply with all their state laws. Colorado was the first state to legalize
marijuana for recreational purposes and marijuana infused edibles soon became a rapidly growing
element within the marijuana industry. As such, states are struggling to write effective legislation and
create adequate testing and identification to address this new industry. However, compliance is just
one area of risk management faced by the marijuana edibles industry. Just as any other manufacturer
of a food product, edibles manufacturers face many hazard risks in the operation of their business
(Frosch, 2014).
Hazard risks are one of the four classifications of risks, which also include operational risks, financial
risks and strategic risks. Identifying risks in this classification system focuses on the source of the risk
as opposed to identifying by the type of risk. Hazard risks are classified as a pure risk, arising from
property, liability or personnel loss exposures. These risks are insurable risks and typically are covered
by an insurance policy. Fire and other property damage, windstorm and other natural perils, theft and
other crimes (including personal injury), business interruption, disease and disability (including work
related injuries and disease), and liability claims are

social, political, and economical patterns. From the small city states to the vast countries they wouldn t

important aspects of the geography of Athens.
Athens is a polis of Attica which is surrounded by the Gulf of Evoikos, the Saronic Gulf, Aegean Sea,

Women could only stay in their houses taking care of their children unless there were religious

Rent To Own Essay
Before my dad began working at RNR Tire Express I did not know very much about rent to own. I
understood that it meant you rent something until you own it just by drawing conclusions. I think it is
easy to find the benefit of rent to own in America especially in tough economic times. Nowadays it is
uncommon for people to be able to pay for large, yet necessary items in one full payment. For
example, new tires can be very expensive, but they are necessary in order to drive safely. Old, worn
tires are a safety issue and could cause more damage to your car if they aren t replaced. I think many
Americans dread having to get new tires because it often times means spending money that they do
not have. I think there are many Americans that would have to choose between new tires or paying
another bill if they had to pay for their tires in full, upfront. Rent to own makes it possible for
someone to buy a new set of needed tires without breaking the bank by allowing them to make
payments. Another benefit to making payments is that usually the buyer can choose the best time for
them to make their payments such as weekly, biweekly, or monthly. ... Show more content on

earlier, rent to own benefits people who cannot afford the product in one full payment. I think about
my family and how many bills my parents have to pay. If an unexpected situation occurs, it can really
affect my family financially. Rent to own offers people some peace of mind in unexpected financial
circumstances. It is unfortunate that some people perceive rent to own in a negative way, but after

George S Patton Emotions
Although at first glance General George S. Patton is anything but creative, if you think about it, he is
one of the most creative people of all time. Both his battle strategies and speeches were creative, bold,

the most powerful and motivated I have read. Each and every speech he spoke riled his troops and
made them want to crush the Nazis and win the war. Many people dislike Patton and his speeches
because of his vulgar language, but there is no denying the effect the speeches had on the troops who

Williams collection of poetry entitled Spring and All which was published in 1923. One of the most
famous poems of the twentieth century, The Red Wheelbarrow is an illustrative poem. This poem is
composed of one sentence that is broken up into four stanzas of two lines each. Williams has broken
down this sentence to a basic level in an attempt to paint a picture of a common image. With unusual

  • 2. Should School Lunches Be Longer Have you ever felt under a major time church when it came to school lunch? In a poll conducted in 2013 by National Public Radio, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard School of Public Health, 20 percent of parents of students from kindergarten through fifth grade told us that their child gets 15 minutes or less to eat. School lunches should be longer because students feel rushed to eat and having too little time to eat leads to unhealthy choices. The first reason school lunches should be longer is because several students feel rushed to eat. Deborah Taylor, director of the Shawnee School Nutrition Services in Oklahoma, told USA Today that when people look back on the childhood obesity epidemic, they may blame the way kids rushed through meals, both at school and at home. It takes more time to chew a whole apple than applesauce, Helen Phillips, president of the School Nutrition Association, told USA Today. Eating an entrée salad takes longer than eating a cheeseburger or chicken nuggets, because of the crunching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With less than 20 minutes to eat the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found students ate 13 percent less of their main entree and 12 percent less of their vegetables. They drank 10 percent less milk, too, compared with students who had 25 minutes or more to eat. Many children, especially those from low income families, rely on school meals for up to half their daily energy intake, so it is essential that we give students a sufficient amount of time to eat their lunches, Juliana Cohen, Rimm s colleague at Harvard and the study s lead author, said in a statement. The U.S. government recommends that children have a minimum of 20 minutes to actually eat their lunch. However, many nutrition experts say even this is not enough for children to properly eat and digest their food before heading back to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Theorist That I Chose To Write About Is Jean Piaget. The theorist that I chose to write about is Jean Piaget. His theory deals with the nature of knowledge itself and how humans gradually come to acquire it. His theory is basically known as the developmental stage theory. In the developmental stage theory there are four different stages of the developmental theory: the sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational period. Jean Piaget was born in Neuchâtel (Switzerland) on August 9, 1896. He was the oldest child of Arthur Piaget and Rebecca Jackson. At age 11, when he was just a mere child at Neuchâtel Latin high school, he wrote a short paper on an albino sparrow. This short notice is usually the start of an intelligent scientific career made of over 60 books ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He died in Geneva on September, 1980. Piaget s theory consisted of three different stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete Operational, and Formal Operational. I ll start out by talking about the first one, sensorimotor. During the sensorimotor stage, infants and toddlers acquire knowledge through sensory experiences and manipulating objects. It was his observations of his daughter and nephew that heavily influenced his conception of this stage. At this point in development, a child s intelligence consists of their basic motor and sensory explorations of the world. Piaget believed that developing object constancy, the understanding that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be seen, played an important role at this point of development. By learning that objects are separate and distinct items and that they have a presence of their own outside of what an individual perceives it to be, children are then able to begin to attach names and words to objects. The next stage in the developmental theory is the Preoperational stage. At this stage, kids learn through pretend play but still struggle with logic and taking the point of view of other people. They also often struggle with understanding the ideal of constancy. For example, a researcher might take a lump of clay, divide it into two equal pieces, and then give a child the choice between two pieces of clay to play with. One piece of clay is rolled into a compact ball ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before the creation of the fire hydrant, fire plugs and bucket brigades were used to access water. When responding to a fire emergency, fire hydrants are useful in situations when there is a lack of supply for water. To prevent the misuse of the hydrant, it requires special tools to be opened, such as a pentagonal wrench to remove the valve that covers the hydrant (Jones, 2009). Fire trucks are unable to carry big tanks that hold all the water and so having these devices located in the community enables them to have access to all the water they need. Wealth In The Gilded Age During The Gilded Age During the Gilded Age some people were becoming very wealthy and everyone had an opinion on what they should do with this wealth, also who they should help with this money, and how much money they should give. This new wealth was not expected and along with it came opinions and judgment of all economic classes. The opinions range from Social Darwinism, which William Graham Sumner believed in, to Andrew Carnegie s Gospel of Wealth and to Walter Rauschenbusch s The Social Gospel. William Graham Sumner was a firm believer in Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism is the belief in survival of the fittest, so the strongest in society are the ones who become wealthy. With this wealth Sumner believed that the wealthy should use it to support the other classes to give them opportunity to become wealthy themselves. According to Sumner If you get wealth, you will have to support the other people; if you do not get wealth, it will be the duty of other people to support you. (Sumner) In this quote Sumner is saying that no matter who the wealthy people are they will have to support the lower class and give them the chance to become wealthy. Through his ideas of social darwinism he believes that everyone should be given an equal opportunity to become wealthy and then the strongest in society will become wealthy. He does not believe that the wealth should stay in the already wealthy families because not every person in the family will be the strongest in society. Along with this he says We ... I would like to tell stories that reflect certain problems and bring awareness to the society. Here is a story that I would like to explore in depth: For decades, the phenomena of human trafficking and smuggling in China have never stopped. While poor women and children were trafficked for sexual exploitation and adoption, many young men were voluntarily smuggled to the West due to their belief in having a richer and better life overseas . People pay money to the snakeheads who have connections overseas and be shipped in cargo ships: some died of suffocation during the journey, and some were detained in prisons and deported. Fujian, a southern province, has been a hotbed of trafficking and smuggling in China. For more than a century, Fujianese had been moving to the West both legally and illegally. Death or bitter lives have never taken away their desires to earn money and prestige, but they have been living a hard life that outsiders could never have imagined, and they would never be the insiders of these western countries. Dr Caligari Expressionism Considered the quintessential work of German Expressionist films, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) remains one of the most influential films of both German cinema and the silent film era. The iconic visual style of Caligari embodies the element of revolt that is accepted to be the basis of Expressionism, which is defined as a total revolt against the existing order both in terms of style and idea, society and the individual, art and ethics (Barlow 18). All of these visual aspects made Caligari the most noteworthy of German Expressionist films, and was more than likely the inspiration for the film noir style that emerged several decades later. The limitations of sound and color do not detract from Caligari s ability to visually express common themes of Weimar Germany, most prominently those of authority, insanity, and duality. Such themes are expressed so prominently that it has led many to interpret the film as a close examination of society in the Weimar Republic and the implications the film had for Germany s future. Men have all the right, but women, foreigners, and slaves had no right and has vast restrictions in their culture. Women could only stay in their houses taking care of their children unless there were religious festivals or reunions being held in their town or village, then they were able to participate if they had a spouse. • 35. Rent To Own Essay Before my dad began working at RNR Tire Express I did not know very much about rent to own. I understood that it meant you rent something until you own it just by drawing conclusions. I think it is easy to find the benefit of rent to own in America especially in tough economic times. Nowadays it is uncommon for people to be able to pay for large, yet necessary items in one full payment. For example, new tires can be very expensive, but they are necessary in order to drive safely. Old, worn tires are a safety issue and could cause more damage to your car if they aren t replaced. I think many Americans dread having to get new tires because it often times means spending money that they do not have. I think there are many Americans that would have to choose between new tires or paying another bill if they had to pay for their tires in full, upfront. Rent to own makes it possible for someone to buy a new set of needed tires without breaking the bank by allowing them to make payments. Another benefit to making payments is that usually the buyer can choose the best time for them to make their payments such as weekly, biweekly, or monthly. ... • 36. George S Patton Emotions Although at first glance General George S. Patton is anything but creative, if you think about it, he is one of the most creative people of all time. Both his battle strategies and speeches were creative, bold, and extremely powerful. Each of his speeches, particularly his speech to the Third Army, are some of the most powerful and motivated I have read. Each and every speech he spoke riled his troops and made them want to crush the Nazis and win the war. Many people dislike Patton and his speeches because of his vulgar language, but there is no denying the effect the speeches had on the troops who served under him and the power in each word he spoke. http://www.wjpbr.com/patton.html Innovation is a quality that is instilled in each and ... • 37. Red Wheelbarrow The Red Wheelbarrow is a poem written by William Carlos Williams in 1921, and it first appeared in Williams collection of poetry entitled Spring and All which was published in 1923. One of the most famous poems of the twentieth century, The Red Wheelbarrow is an illustrative poem. This poem is composed of one sentence that is broken up into four stanzas of two lines each. Williams has broken down this sentence to a basic level in an attempt to paint a picture of a common image. With unusual stanza breaks and attention to language, Williams has turned an ordinary sentence into a spectacular poem. The speaker of this poem is a farmer, but more specifically a poultry farmer because he is talking about white chickens (7 8) and a wheelbarrow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
