The Philosophy Of Moral Relativism
In the beginning of the semester, we were given an ethical inventory and I felt fairly confident
with my results. I ve never taken an ethics class before, so I was very interested in learning about
different philosophies. I came to class with an opened mind and eager with curiosity and was
intrigued by the many different philosophical theories. This newfound information influenced my
current stance when re taking the inventory. There were a few questions which I had a change of
heart in, most of these questions circled around the philosophy of moral relativism and moral
absolutism.
At the start of the course, I believed that right and wrong was not determined by one s culture. I
believed that every being acknowledges that there are certain overarching morals, i.e., thou shalt not
kill. By the end of the course, I changed my opinion on the matter; this change is influenced by the
philosopher, Ruth Benedict. Benedict s philosophy of moral relativism states that morality is
culturally relative morality is dependent upon what is socially approved, and that good varies
among different societies. Each society has their own expectations of behavior, and that in turn
molds the morality of the individual. For example, an individual being brought up in Nazi
Germany will view the treatment of Jews as normal , not batting an eye, in seeing them murdered.
Nonetheless, I still stand behind my initial idea of a universal morality but I understand and accept
the role in which

Lying To Parents Among Adolescents
1.I found this source by logging into MavZone and registering my account, which was a horrible
experience. I went to the Tomlinson Library on the CMU website and under the article tab I
typed in the keywords lying to parents . There were other articles that came up talking about the
researched effects of parents lying to kids and such but this source addressed the fact that lying is
a part of life, but when is it acceptable is the real question.
2.The article The Right To Do Wrong: Lying to Parents Among Adolescents and Emerging Adults
is about the capability of a kids/ emerging adults to lie to their parents. They found that the kids
ability to lie and their acceptance of lying was different according to the circumstances in which

The Advantages And Dilemmas Of Child Care For Children
Tamai Butler
Coach Beale
Senior Capstone
March , 9 , 2018 One of the biggest decisions parents have to make after choosing to have a child
involves deciding who will care for that child, especially during the early developmental years.
Parents choose to resolve this difficult dilemma in many ways. Some families choose to use full
time childcare, while in other families one parent stays or works at home for all or part of the
time. In other families, a parent chooses to leave the workforce completely in order to become the
primary caregiver. Finding appropriate and affordable child care is often a challenge. There are
different options available in different places, and at many different price points although all
options are expensive. Each care option comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. It can be
confusing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, my parents friends would routinely leave their children under my care when we
got together with other families for play dates and tea parties they obviously saw something in
me that I grew aware of more strongly as I got older. If I was always naturally going to gravitate
into a role which involved caring for children, I get huge satisfaction from working with people
in general, old or young. As much as my current role is to do with how much I love to care for
children, there are other important aspects involved in my career path. It is not just
communicating well with children that is a vital skill but also how you communicate with the
people that are most important to that child. As a nanny you learn skills which enable you to help
children to develop into happy, healthy little people. To be able to show parents how to develop
their own confidence and skills to care for their children and see them build the closest of
connections, must be one of the best feelings you can get as a

Creating A Legal Taxonomy Of Privacy
Differentiating Meanings of Privacy Invasion of privacy did not exist as a separate tort prior to
the 20th century. In 1960, William Prosser described how privacy came to be established in tort
law and how many distinct torts fit within it, including torts for intrusion, public disclosure of
private facts, and placing a person in a false light. Daniel Solove builds off of Prosser s work,
constructing a legal taxonomy of privacyfocused on information collection, information processing,
information dissemination, and intrusion. As this thesis aims to gain insight into how privacy has
evolved conceptually within the American court system, and particularly the Supreme Court, I aim
to identify conceptual divisions of privacy in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ruling stands in stark contrast to the Court s decision in 1914 in Weeks v. United States, which
is largely considered a landmark case as the Court s unanimous decision resulted in the
establishment of the exclusionary rule prohibiting the submission of evidence to court which was
obtained illegally (i.e. in violation of the Fourth Amendment by being unreasonably seized without
a warrant). In his dissent in Olmstead, Brandeis made an eloquent argument that the Fourth
Amendment remains applicable in the case, as individuals should have a reasonable expectation of
privacy in their conversations (which, in this instance, had been wiretapped by law enforcement
officials targeting bootleggers violating the National Prohibition Act). Brandeis wrote: The makers
of our Constitution undertook to secure conditions favorable to the pursuit of happiness. They
recognized the significance of man s spiritual nature, of his feelings and of his intellect. They knew
that only a part of the pain, pleasure, and satisfactions of life are to be found in material things.
They sought to protect Americans in their beliefs, their thoughts, their emotions and their
sensations. They conferred, as against the government, the right to be let alone the most
comprehensive of rights and the right most valued by civilized men. To protect

Mental Retardation And The Age Of 18
MENTAL RETARDATION AND THE ABLITY TO LEARN
MENTAL RETARDATION [AN OVERVIEW]
WHAT DOES MENTAL RETARDATION MEAN?
To quote, Mental retardation (MR) is a developmental disability that first appears in children under
the age of 18. It is defined as a level of intellectual functioning (as measured by standard
intelligence tests ) that is well below average and results in significant limitations in the person s
daily living skills (adaptive functioning.
If a person has an Intelligence quotient or an IQ below 70 to 75 ,he or she is considered as mentally
retarded. Mental retardation is basically a social problem.
A person with mental retardation has limitation in two areas:
Intellectual functioning
Adaptive behaviour
Mental retardation also known as intellectual disability stems due to varied reasons:
Genetic conditions
Problems during child birth
Problems during pregnancy [excessive intake of alcohol]
Injury or illness
The cause is unknown in two third cases of all the people with mental retardation.[ Unknown
factors]
If a person has an Intelligence quotient or an IQ below 70 to 75 ,he or she is considered as
mentally retarded.
The development aspects of a child affected due to mental retardation are:
Language ability
Learning
Attention
Memory
Emotional quotient
Social skills.
We shall now see how the ability to learn is affected in the mentally retarded

Christopher s Character In The Curious Incident
Curious Incident Essay
Did you know that autism affects 1 in 68 children in the world? In the story curious incident of the
boy in the night time , Christopher the protagonist in the story has a condition called Asperger
syndrome and uses this to solve mysteries and to find his mother. Despite the stigma concerning
autism and Aspergers, Christopher s condition proves advantageous on his journey. The 3 most
advantageous character traits that Christopher possesses and uses in the book are his memory ,
logic, and his independence. Christopher s first most advantageous character trait is his memory.
This is because Christopher used this ability to solve problems throughout the story, for example,

Christopher uses logic instead of reason when making decisions I had to get out of the house.
Father had murdered Wellington. That meant he could murder me, because I couldn t trust him,
even though he had said Trust me, because he had told a lie about a big thing (Haddon, 122).
This shows how Christopher uses his logic instead of reason. Most people in that situation
would know that just because your dad killed a dog he would not kill you, but Christopher is
more worried about trust. This is because Christopher sees love as mostly, three things, trust,
someone who helps you, and someone who cares about you. Since Christopher doesn t trust his
dad anymore he thinks his dad doesn t care about him and this is logically thinking. This is
logically thinking because he used the facts that were their and added them up as if an equation
and made his decision to leave his dad. This is how he thought logically instead of with reason.
The second way Christopher used his logic to his advantage is when he left his father s house
and he went to Mrs. Shears house and he logically thought out all of his options and made his
decision on what he was doing next. [...] I did this by thinking of all the things I could do and
deciding whether they were the right decision or not. I decided that I couldn t go home again. And
I decided that I couldn t go and live with Siobhan because she couldn t

Negative Effects Of Technology And Addiction
Technology Addiction. According to ВЁAmericans are addicted to smartphonesВЁ 58 percent
of U.S. smartphone owners check their phones at least every hour and a large share check their
phones while in bed or in the bathroom. If in some catastrophic event they were to lose their
device, 73 percent of people admit they would feel panicked while another 14 percent would
feel desperate (Fitzgerald). This goes to show just how smartphones and technology in general
have taken over the lives of people considering that smartphones were not popular until the late
2010. Technology has become the backbone of society in this day and age. People seemingly
cannot live without technology as it helps them backup data, plan their days and even drive
their cars. Despite all its good uses, technology like most things has of adverse effects.
Technology has come along way since the dawn of time. Even though most of its negative
effects had yet to be discovered. For example, in the fourteenth century people used to use lead
to treat diseases and for a while both lead and radium were used in medical technology and aided
as treatments. Technology mainly involved practical advancements to help people survive in a
dangerous world . As people and societies progressed, technology conformed to the increasingly
settled and sophisticated state of civilization. Much of modern technology is complex and idea
based and aims to increase abundance, comfort, and ease of life . (dziak). Technology in ancient
times was use to make work easier protect people from dangerous activities, but now technology
has started to replace even us in the workplace. The invention of robots and automated services has
rendered the need to teach, hire or even retrain people ineffective. Technology has advanced to suit
our lives.Although in some cases people, doing the work themselves might be more practical
while others seem to think that using technology would be a better, error free option.this could be
bad for people looking for a job, because employer would think using robot would be a more
efficient way.this is an adverse effect of technology, because of this mental state unemployment
would increase exponentially and due to that crime rates

How Phobias Affect People And How Can Overcome Their Phobia
Purpose: At the end of my speech, the audience will know how phobias affect people and how to
overcome their phobia.
I.Introduction
a.Imagine being so afraid of something that you try everything in your power to avoid it. For
example, someone who fears spiders is not going to walk that trail that leads into a wooded area
and you can almost guarantee that the person who isn t too fond of heights isn t going to walk
across that tall bridge. If you ask these people why they won t partake in these activates, they
would probably respond with I don t want to or I m afraid to . Sure most, if not all, of us are
afraid of something. I m not thrilled to be standing up in front of everyone giving a speech, but
here I stand.
b.If your fear prevents you from doing certain activates, then it isn t just a fear, it is actually a phobia
. In 2013, Patterson wrote that, A phobia is described as a chronic and extreme fear of an object or
situation out of proportion to the danger actually presented by the feared thing. (p. 58).
c.I find this description to be most accurate because I, at one point in my life, had a phobia. The
phobia I had is called coasterphobia and if the name isn t a dead giveaway, it is the fear of
rollercoasters. At that time, you could have offered me five hundred dollars to get on a
rollercoaster and I would have turned it down without hesitation. It wasn t until about three years
ago that I overcame my phobia and now I absolutely love roller coasters.

Copper And Zinc Reaction Lab Report
In retrospect, the practical was very easy to follow and achieved the desired results. In order to
quantify the amount of electricity generated through the spontaneous redox reaction, a multimeter
was used to measure the follow of electricity between the Copper and the anode. This gave us an
increased reliability and accuracy than using an analogue voltmeter. When it was calculated, the
reaction between the Copper and Magnesium in theory had a potential difference of 2.58v. The
Copper and Zinc reaction was also calculated to have the expected potential difference of 1.1v
whilst the Copper and Lead had 0.7v. When looking at the half equations of the various reactions,
the electron transfer direction can be gathered. The place of oxidation is the side which loses
electrons and the place of reduction, which gains them. Therefore, it can be determined that the
electron flow direction is from the anodes [ which are Zinc, Magnesium, and Lead], the oxidization
agents, to the Copper cathode, the reduction agent.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These differences across all three reactions ranged from 0.056 volts and 1.58 volts. The potential
cause for these inaccuracies are numerous. The occurrence of these inaccuracies may have been
due to random errors such as the sizes of the filter paper and meta strips, inaccurate measurements
of the solutions, weight of the metal strips. In addition, the introduction of systematic errors may
have also increased the inaccuracies in the results. Some systematic errors which occurred were:
not sanding any of the metal strips as well as not having a specified amount of time for soaking the
filter paper. These errors both random and systematic may have been minimised or highlighted
through conducting various repetitions of the practical investigation so that results can be averaged
to be more accurate and for more definitive conclusions to be

Synthesis Essay On Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying Cyberbullying is a willful and repeated harm inflicted through the use of computers,
cell phones, and other electronic devices (Source 3). Things such as posting embarrassing pictures
of someone online, or pretending to be another person online. 20% of youth ages 11 18 have been a
victimof cyberbullying, (Source 3). Cyberbullying can have the same effects on a person just like
normal bullying. Low self esteem, depression, eating disorders, and even suicidecan be provoked by
cyberbullying. So, if we want teens to stop harassing each other online, we should prosecute
individuals for their hateful statements and actions on the internet. Prosecuting these individuals is
crucial to the safety of others. Cyberbullying can physically injure someone. There is a bill that is

This isn t fully false. In New York, Senators want citizens to be criminally charged if they are

make sure people aren t being excluded or bullied. That can be an invasion of privacy, but what
would someone be looking at on the internet that they wouldn t want people seeing? On the First
Amendment some can argue that this new bill will violate that. Kirk Sigmon says The last time I

Essay on The Simpsons Up Close and Personal
The Simpsons Up Close and Personal There is a fine line that exists in TV land that had never

sitcom has become one of the most popular television programs in America. Is it because The
Simpsons is a cartoon? My answer is yes! This show is able to sneak through the wormholes of TV
land because it is a cartoon. People are overlooking the underlying issues conveyed through the
characters because it s only cartoons right? Wrong!
The Simpsons is a satirical sitcom that makes fun of everyday issues that Americans in today s

Homer is actually stealing from his place of employment. His job is to monitor energy use, and
document it precisely so American s are billed correctly for their energy use. He is working to
prevent exactly what he is doing wrong at home by stealing cable television. Many Americas could
have been watching this episode on their cable televisions. For those Americans who are actually
stealing cable television this episode will either consciously or unconsciously make those families
think about what they are doing is wrong. This is an intelligent way of conveying an important
message to people. This type of action is not acceptable behavior. This format is brilliant because it
is actually funny but at the same time very serious. Americans can relate to this issue and respond
in a more understanding way because this cartoon is more approachable when stealing is addressed
in a humorous manner. Hopefully, this will cause people to think twice about what they are
actually doing.
Bart takes this whole idea of stealing the cable as an excellent opportunity to make a little cash
by inviting his peers to view the pornography channel at a cost of fifty cents per head. At first,
this appears to be hilarious because most people can relate to what Bart is doing. Yet it is not the
fact that Bart was selling pornography. Homer freaked out over Bart providing sexual viewing in

Essay On Two Frat Boys Exploratory
After being hit by waves of nostalgia for the past few days, I think it is good time to look back
on a review I penned a few years ago. Exactly a decade ago, Hollywood produced not one, but
two wonder children (or rather, young adults). The unique backstory of an Oscar winning film
written by two frat boys fresh out of college enticed households across the country. The niched
marketing of the film seemed to, in fact, destine it for greatness. Indeed, Damon and Affleck
brought to the table a contemporary edge long awaited for in the film industry, something
suitable for their status as the young generation of rising stars. Rather than a grandiose of
monologues with dramatic addresses and touching tributes, as well as booming tones and
reverberating words echoing off walls, Sean and Will s scene at the park almost seems as if it
were tossed out without a deliberate care in the world. It is, after all, a speech originating from a
swan fetish . And yet, Sean Maguire s soft spoken drawl achieves an impacting climactic effect.

during the season of autumn (made noticeable by the yellowing willow at the start of the scene).
These are therefore, the times when Will is the most vulnerable. Not to mention, the audience also

Ancient Chinese Ink Techniques In The 21st Century
Ancient Chinese Ink Techniques in the 21st Century.
As the paint brush dips into the paint and watching the brush the brush form perfect lines,
knowing that the art that is being created is what one is expressing. Art and design has been
influencing our lives since the dawn of the ages. Art has been created on cave walls, has been
formed in architecture, and continues to grow and expand. Art is very beautiful, but also is a
matter of expression. Art can mean many things such as love, concern, anger, desire, and politics.
Two Chinese born ink artists by the name of Zhang Daqain, and Hua Tunan have become well
known traditional Chinese ink artists. More known for his landscape designs, Zhang Daqain has
incorporated splashes and pops of color in these traditional looking drawings. Through the
decades, other artists have learned traditional ink drawings but have also developed other artistic
ways to express who they are. For example, one artist, Hua Tunan, is a young artist who has
experimented with graffiti and in his favor, was a success. Both artists are advocates for nature
being their primary subjects. From mountainous ranges to flowers, to detailed portraits of animals,
these paintings bring awareness to people about the beauty on our planet. One of Zhang s work
from Art of Asian Landscapes contains bold colors just like in Hua Tunan s art like his ink
splattered tiger. Zhang Daqain and Hua tunan are both amazing artists that have created exquisite

System Of The Juvenile Justice System
In the system of the Juvenile Justice System ( J.J.S) they spend a lot of money on troubled youth.
The J.J.S should attempt to help these kids but, not spend thousands of dollars a year to help
rehabilitate these kids. The kids that come in should not come into be spoon fed with nice things
while in detention. They are not there because they are victims, they are there because they are
victims of their own decisions.
Another thing you should watch for in troubled youth are multiple offenders. They know what they
are doing and they are doing it because they think it is benefiting them. People that repeat the same
crime over and over again don t learn. If a person is raised to believe that what they are doing is

Central State University s Theatre Production Performed...
Metropolitan State University s Theatre Production performed, God s Country. This play was
written by Steven Dietz in 1988. It revolved around a white supremacist group called The Order.
This group was led by Robert Jay Matthews and during the presence of The Order, Matthews
organized the members to perform various illegal acts to earn money for the groups cause. The
illegal acts led to a court trial that occurs during the playbecause The Order, was being prosecuted
for the assassination of radio host, Alan Berg. During MSU Denver s production of God s Country,
the elements of the play that stood out the most were: the success of one particular character,
growing to dislike a character, and the small amount of props that were used.
On opening night of God s Country, produced by Metropolitan s Theatre, one character seemed to
be more successful than any of the other characters and that was the boy. The boy in this
production was portrayed by a girl, but gave an outstanding and very believable performance. At
the beginning of the play there was a scene where all the kids were playing recess games, but the
boy was so much more believable in this scene than any of the other characters. This girl was
dressed like a boy, no makeup, and her movements were so well performed to distinguish her true
self from the boy in which she played. It was so believable that for awhile, you were not quite sure
if this actress was either a younger boy or a student at MSU Denver.

(2001). These researchers argue that job embeddedness is a direct antecedent both of intent to quit
and voluntary turnover. A number of studies have followed this research direction and found that
job embeddedness explained significant incremental variance in turnover beyond that explained
by job satisfaction and organizational commitment (e.g., Lee et al., 2004; Holtom and O Neill,
2004; Besich, 2005; Holtom and Inderrieden, 2006). However how job embeddedness is
developed or what factors cause employees embedded in their jobs to keep them from leaving the
organization still requires investigation. This study attempts to partly answer that question by
testing whether job embeddedness is a mediator of the relationship between human resource
practices and employees intention to quit. Research background and hypotheses Efforts to
elucidate the causes of the intention to quit of employees have focused on individual level
factors, such as personal preferences, and organizational level factors, such as human resource
practices (Deutsch et al., 2000). Individual level explanations stress the differences among people,
often by examining the process by which jobholders consider other employment possibilities (Lee
and Mitchell, 1994; Deutsch et al., 2000). Individual level studies traditionally link employees
interest in changing jobs to their level of job satisfaction (Brayfield and Crockett, 1955; Vroom,

Rankine World Cup Analysis
Rankine s awesome work on World Cup Clip At 2006 World Cup Final, the scenario which
shocked the world happened. The French Algerian soccer super star Zidane headbutted Italy s
Marco Materazzi after an offensive comment about racism on him. This incident hit a sensitive
nerve of people around the world including the author of KU s common book Citizen, Claudia
Rankine. She spent 10 pages talking about the incident by appropriating language from famous
litterateurs like Shakespeare, James Baldwin and Frantz Fanon. Also, she used the word Zidane

As we know that the whole process of the Zidane and Materazzi s event was approximately 20

moment in the process clearly. At the same time, Rankine dubbed the video with her poems,
lyrics and quotes from famous litterateurs. For instance, Frederick Douglass said, But at the
moment from whence came the spirit I don t know I resolved to fight, and, suiting my action to
the resolution. (Rankine 128) It was the internal monologue of Zidane in the moment.
Synchronously, Zidane in the video turned around, stretched out his head, and headbutted
Materazzi. This synchronized clip generated tons of artistic effect as people saw the both
internal and external activity a man had when facing a racism attack. And the classical quotes
and literary words Rankine wrote by herself worked as dubs created even more arty atmosphere
in the video. People tended to know better and understand deeper how helpless, vulnerable and
decisive Zidane was in the event and how sarcasm and meaningful the whole thing was by
watching the situational video Rankine made with her husband, John Lucas. In a nutshell, the
situational videos are the one of the greatest parts of Rankine s Citizen. She mixes and matches
different elements in the videos to make them fit well to the book and have deeper understandings
of a specific event. The World Cup situational video is marvelous because it does not only have
limitless artistic effect and reinforce the points Rankine made in the book , but also help people

habitable zone. The habitable zone is defined as a region within which Earth like planets might
possess the moderate environmental conditions for advanced life to form (von Bloh). Many of
these new planets discovered are gas giants with atmospheres too turbulent to support life, so these
planets habitable zone is said to be low or nonexistent. The existence of Earthlike planets, however,
is just as common as the existence of these extreme planets. Traits of the habitable zone, such as a
carbon silicate cycle, solar luminosity, and plate tectonics, were analyzed for 200 different possible

These conditions can range from the temperature of the universe, the background radiation
leftover from the Big Bang, and the amount of elements located in the universe. It is a well
known fact that organic molecules are common within the universe. As stated before, galaxies
consist of billions of stars and then multiply that by the amount of galaxies in the universe; one
can see why there are a plethora of stars. When stars die, the ones that explode, through a process
called a supernova, release enough heavy elements into space that are essential for life to begin.
Vilenkin states that the shockwave of these explosions are enough to propel these heavier
elements into areas of dense clouds that have the potential to form new binary systems of a star
and a planet. This new planet now has the chance to form life. But, the REH claims that the
destructive nature of space is more prone to killing off any budding life than to help life develop.
There is galactic cannibalism, which is when two galaxies collide and ripe each other apart with
the force of gravity, or even stars dying can be a catalyst to the end of extraterrestrial life forming.
According to Vilekin and other astronomers, the universe has been cooling down, albeit slowly
and over the course of billions of years; but this seems to be beneficial to the potential existence of
other life. This cooling universe has become

Exploring The Earth
The origins and improvement of scientific knowledge can be discovered by investigating children
s understanding of the earth. (Panagiotaki, et al, 2006) This report will focus on how children
respond to the shape of the Earth, which is an analysis and partly replication of the result of the
experiment done by Vosniadou Brewer in 1992. According to their research, by interpreting
everyday experience, children initially believe that the earthis a flat object. Some think that our
earth is flat and rectangular while others assume that it is flat and shaped like a disc. Then, during
the process of knowledge acquirement, children are exposed to the socially accepted knowledge
that the Earth is spherical. Nonetheless, because of the influence... Show more content on

(FrГЁde et al, 2011). In another case study, it is reported that age is a crucial foreteller and
children aged 10 and above gain a considerable amount of scientific knowledge of the earth.
(Straatemeir et al, 2008) This is due to the fact that when children get older, they will have more
scientifically correct knowledge of the earth. Additionally, they also state that age exerts a huge
influence on the consistency of children s answers. This is attributed to the fact that the consistency
was lower for younger children. (Straatemeier et al, 2008). The more knowledgeable the children
are, the more consistent their answers are.
Besides, children s understanding of the form of the earth is associated significantly with gender
differences. Previous case studies have expressed that boys are better at scientific knowledge,
including the understanding of the structure of our earth than girls. Straatemeir (2008) argues that
the boys are supposed to have a considerably higher consistency mark as did the girls. (0.60 and
0.18 respectively) In addition to that, it is suggested that males have the wider knowledge of
scientific problems. When working in a group, males are likely to be not only more clear headed
but also more confident and informative than their female peers while mentioning scientific matters.
Moreover, this finding remains unchanged

HOW TO SOLVE THE FORECLOSURE CRISIS
HOW TO SOLVE THE FORECLOSURE CRISIS
What do we think when we hear the word foreclosure ? Most people realize that it s definitely
something that is not good, some say that it s when someone fails to do something, but those

To begin with, The People s Housing Cooperative will be based on the following components for a

1.Land: which is referring to the physical location in which the structure was and/or has been built.
2.Construction Materials: which is referring to all materials utilized to erect a house including
exterior and interior fixtures.
3.Labor: which is referring to the physical activity employed by many persons to erect the house?
The cooperative approach works in the following way, anyone interested in acquiring a house
(which ranges from a single family story unit and/or up to a multiple story building) must be willing
to work during the construction phase of the unit without any compensation due to the person (later

First off, the size of the farm will strongly determine the longevity of the farm s success. There
are several different categories of farms and they all have specific criteria to be part of that
category. The broadest of the categories is the small family farm (sales of less than $250,000).
Then under this category is several sub categories which comprise of: limited resource farms
(gross sales of less than $100,000, total farm assets less than $250,000, and total operator house
hold income less than $20,000), retirement farms (small farms with the operator being retired),
residential/lifestyle farms (small farms with the operator having a major occupation other than
farming), farming occupation/lower sales (sales less than $100,000), farming occupation
/higher sales (sales between $100,000 and $249,999). The other types of farms include large
family farms and very large family farms. The final category is non family farm; these types of
farms are more like corporations and cooperatives. The reason why the size of a farm is so
important to the success is that it all depends on the amount of income that is flowing into the
farm. The limited resource, retirement, and lifestyle family farms will have a better chance of
prolonging its existence because of its off farm income. These types of farms do not need to
worry as much about low prices and low yields because of the other source of cash flow. This
brings us to the farming occupation with

Dante s Paradise Lost, And Homer s Iliad
Along with Milton s Paradise Lost and Homer s Iliad the Commedia of Dante Alighieri represents
the very pinnacle of poetic accomplishment. The essay will look at the Vita Nouva as the praise of
the miracle; for such was the marvelously beneficent lady, as long as she lived, as Dante often
affirms. And in this miracle one can recognized a material attestation of Eternal Truths. And the
divine comedyis the glorification of truth itself as revealed to Dante and subsequently to Dante s
readers now days. The Vita Nuova may be called the entrance of that solemn sanctuary, the Divine
Comedy. This essay will look at Beatrice named, the bringer of beatitude, and her smile. Also
Beatrice will be interpreted as the medium of beatitude itself to Dante the poet.
The great poet [Dante] may be held in due honour and that he may be for the pupils the teacher of
Christian doctrine, he whose one purpose in his poem was to raise mortals from the state of misery
that is from the state of sin, and lead them to the state of happiness, that is the divine Grace.
Echoing the words of Pope Benedict XV one can see that the principal aim of the sacred poem of
Dante is doubtless to point out to the people disposed to evil and deceived the way to salvation,
using as an example that which, under the vail of poetic imagery, that Dante gives one to
understand happened in his own soul. This is the inquiry intended in this analysis of the Vita
Nouva where Dante is the receiver of an epiphany

Queer was first used in reference to sexuality in the 1920s by homosexual men who rejected the
effeminacy connected with the term fairy (Brontsema, 2004). Over the course of the early to mid
twentieth century both the terms fairy and queer fell out of fashion with the male homosexual
community and gay became the most popular self ascription for homosexual men (Brontsema,
2004). Around the mid to late twentieth century queer was primarily used as a derogatory term,
levelled at homosexual people in general (Brontsema, 2004). Towards the end of the 1980s some
within the LGBT community began to push for the reclamation of the word queer. One such
group were Queer Nation an offshoot of the group ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power)

the term queer saying every gay person has his or her own take on it... for some it means

Individualism And Individualism
Individualism has swept our current society. Teenagers like myself constantly are bombarded
with television, radio, social media, and music that pushes a person to be unique and strive to be
themselves. With this new agenda on the rise, comes a new thinking of self confidence. This
thinking in return, has led to many teenagers making big decisions that impact them on a much
larger scale than the surface level might show. The issue at hand has slowly began to create a
culture in which many immature teenagers begin making mature decisions without thinking the
consequences through. Over time, modern day media has turned these negative mistakes into a
perception of positive results. With millions of young adults interacting with social media on a
daily basis, this small issue could grow into having a major effect on society. Parents or
guardians should decide whether teenagers get piercings or tattoos and society must put a stop to
the idea of individualism in the minds of teenagers while getting back to the root of success;
respect, standards, and work ethic. Many adolescents that have body markings are more likely to
participate in high risk behavior and dangerous activities. According to a 58 question survey taken
by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Youth Risk Behavior Survey, Sean Carroll, a

Systems Theory Of Human Service Organizations
Human service organizations are there to meet the needs of people and help to prevent and solve
problems whilst improving or maintaining the quality of life of people. Human service
organizations have a modus of operation so as to deliver its services to the intended recipients. This
modus emanates from the systems theorywhich was introduced by biologist Ludwig von Bertalanffy
in the 1940s, and gained importance in the 1960s which permits analysis of the complex nature of
human interactions within a social environment. The systems theory is a way of elaborating

Marx Vs Saussure
Throughout history, we are continuously fighting to interpret our reality and the things which
comprise one and other. This is not a simple task for one to take on, but multiple historical thinkers
have taken it upon themselves to question the components of interpretation and find the meaning
that it is grounded upon. Specifically, Ferdinand de Saussureand Karl Marx propose fundamental
critics that are embedded within modern day thinking shaping our ideals and the functionality we
see within language and reality. Saussure and Marx take two different approaches to understanding
history, language and culture, they provide this through both scientific and critical methods for
interpreting reality and the things which it is trying to represent.... Show more content on

The relationship that the signifier and signified elements share though is arbitrary, which is a key
property. Due to the fact that these two share an arbitrary bond, it puts in question the reliability of
their interpretation of things, such as the words and the nature which stands behind them. The
arbitrary attributes both the signifier and signified share show that there is a type of break that
occurs between the sound image and the idea itself this pushes Saussure to state that language
itself is unmotivated; what is trying to be represented is not a natural occurrence. Saussure directs
the audience into realizing that even though one believes that there is a natural link between the
meaning of a thing, like a dog, and what is trying to be represented, the actual dog, this is a
forced thing which we have to learn and not a natural occurrence. In order to provide clarity of
language and distinguish this ___ from other ___ Saussure comprises a summarization of four
characteristics within language. First and foremost, language is a well defined object in the
heterogeneous mass of speech facts. This means ______. Next, Language, unlike speaking, is
something that we can study separately. Thirdly, Whereas speech is heterogeneous, language as
defined, is homogenous. The last component of language discusses is Language is concrete no less
so than speaking; and this is a help in our study of

One Tree Hill Analysis
One Tree Hill There are always stereotypes in high school. People are placed into groups. You re
a jock, you re a cheerleader, you re a freak, you re into the drama department. I had a lot of
trouble fitting into those groups when I was in high school because I wanted to be a part of all of
them. One Tree Hill represents people who are multidimensional and who like more than one thing.
Hilarie Burton, who plays Peyton Sawyer, says it perfectly herself. One Tree Hillshows diversity
among all. The use of every stereotype is used in this series to allow every viewer feel as though
they have a place, making the show significant for young adult viewers especially. The main
characters in the show are all friends, yet they all have different interests. Despite the drama,
relatable for any high school viewer. While other shows place teens into certain stereotypical
groups, One Tree Hill does just the opposite by allowing everyone to be themselves. Dissimilar
from most shows on television and stereotypes of high school, One Tree Hill does a substantial
work of portraying the diversity of all people by bringing all together.
Peyton Sawyer is not like any typical highschool girl. She is a cheerleader but also enjoys making
dark art. Naturally, she is in her room listening to punk rock music and drawing. Peyton is pretty
uncheery (if one asks Lucas Scott). Therefore, she doesn t come off as the cheerleader type. The
only reason that she is a cheerleader is because her

  • 2. The Philosophy Of Moral Relativism In the beginning of the semester, we were given an ethical inventory and I felt fairly confident with my results. I ve never taken an ethics class before, so I was very interested in learning about different philosophies. I came to class with an opened mind and eager with curiosity and was intrigued by the many different philosophical theories. This newfound information influenced my current stance when re taking the inventory. There were a few questions which I had a change of heart in, most of these questions circled around the philosophy of moral relativism and moral absolutism. At the start of the course, I believed that right and wrong was not determined by one s culture. I believed that every being acknowledges that there are certain overarching morals, i.e., thou shalt not kill. By the end of the course, I changed my opinion on the matter; this change is influenced by the philosopher, Ruth Benedict. Benedict s philosophy of moral relativism states that morality is culturally relative morality is dependent upon what is socially approved, and that good varies among different societies. Each society has their own expectations of behavior, and that in turn molds the morality of the individual. For example, an individual being brought up in Nazi Germany will view the treatment of Jews as normal , not batting an eye, in seeing them murdered. Nonetheless, I still stand behind my initial idea of a universal morality but I understand and accept the role in which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Advantages And Dilemmas Of Child Care For Children Tamai Butler Coach Beale Senior Capstone March , 9 , 2018 One of the biggest decisions parents have to make after choosing to have a child involves deciding who will care for that child, especially during the early developmental years. Parents choose to resolve this difficult dilemma in many ways. Some families choose to use full time childcare, while in other families one parent stays or works at home for all or part of the time. In other families, a parent chooses to leave the workforce completely in order to become the primary caregiver. Finding appropriate and affordable child care is often a challenge. There are different options available in different places, and at many different price points although all options are expensive. Each care option comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. It can be confusing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nonetheless, my parents friends would routinely leave their children under my care when we got together with other families for play dates and tea parties they obviously saw something in me that I grew aware of more strongly as I got older. If I was always naturally going to gravitate into a role which involved caring for children, I get huge satisfaction from working with people in general, old or young. As much as my current role is to do with how much I love to care for children, there are other important aspects involved in my career path. It is not just communicating well with children that is a vital skill but also how you communicate with the people that are most important to that child. As a nanny you learn skills which enable you to help children to develop into happy, healthy little people. To be able to show parents how to develop their own confidence and skills to care for their children and see them build the closest of connections, must be one of the best feelings you can get as a ... In 1960, William Prosser described how privacy came to be established in tort law and how many distinct torts fit within it, including torts for intrusion, public disclosure of private facts, and placing a person in a false light. Daniel Solove builds off of Prosser s work, constructing a legal taxonomy of privacyfocused on information collection, information processing, information dissemination, and intrusion. As this thesis aims to gain insight into how privacy has evolved conceptually within the American court system, and particularly the Supreme Court, I aim to identify conceptual divisions of privacy in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This ruling stands in stark contrast to the Court s decision in 1914 in Weeks v. United States, which is largely considered a landmark case as the Court s unanimous decision resulted in the establishment of the exclusionary rule prohibiting the submission of evidence to court which was obtained illegally (i.e. in violation of the Fourth Amendment by being unreasonably seized without a warrant). In his dissent in Olmstead, Brandeis made an eloquent argument that the Fourth Amendment remains applicable in the case, as individuals should have a reasonable expectation of privacy in their conversations (which, in this instance, had been wiretapped by law enforcement officials targeting bootleggers violating the National Prohibition Act). Brandeis wrote: The makers of our Constitution undertook to secure conditions favorable to the pursuit of happiness. They recognized the significance of man s spiritual nature, of his feelings and of his intellect. They knew that only a part of the pain, pleasure, and satisfactions of life are to be found in material things. Despite the stigma concerning autism and Aspergers, Christopher s condition proves advantageous on his journey. That meant he could murder me, because I couldn t trust him, even though he had said Trust me, because he had told a lie about a big thing (Haddon, 122). This shows how Christopher uses his logic instead of reason. Most people in that situation would know that just because your dad killed a dog he would not kill you, but Christopher is more worried about trust. This is because Christopher sees love as mostly, three things, trust, someone who helps you, and someone who cares about you. Since Christopher doesn t trust his dad anymore he thinks his dad doesn t care about him and this is logically thinking. This is logically thinking because he used the facts that were their and added them up as if an equation and made his decision to leave his dad. This is how he thought logically instead of with reason. The second way Christopher used his logic to his advantage is when he left his father s house and he went to Mrs. Shears house and he logically thought out all of his options and made his decision on what he was doing next. According to ВЁAmericans are addicted to smartphonesВЁ 58 percent of U.S. smartphone owners check their phones at least every hour and a large share check their phones while in bed or in the bathroom. If in some catastrophic event they were to lose their device, 73 percent of people admit they would feel panicked while another 14 percent would feel desperate (Fitzgerald). This goes to show just how smartphones and technology in general have taken over the lives of people considering that smartphones were not popular until the late 2010. Technology has become the backbone of society in this day and age. People seemingly cannot live without technology as it helps them backup data, plan their days and even drive their cars. Despite all its good uses, technology like most things has of adverse effects. Technology has come along way since the dawn of time. Even though most of its negative effects had yet to be discovered. For example, in the fourteenth century people used to use lead to treat diseases and for a while both lead and radium were used in medical technology and aided as treatments. Technology mainly involved practical advancements to help people survive in a dangerous world . As people and societies progressed, technology conformed to the increasingly settled and sophisticated state of civilization. Much of modern technology is complex and idea based and aims to increase abundance, comfort, and ease of life . (dziak). Technology in ancient times was use to make work easier protect people from dangerous activities, but now technology has started to replace even us in the workplace. The invention of robots and automated services has rendered the need to teach, hire or even retrain people ineffective. Technology has advanced to suit our lives.Although in some cases people, doing the work themselves might be more practical while others seem to think that using technology would be a better, error free option.this could be bad for people looking for a job, because employer would think using robot would be a more efficient way.this is an adverse effect of technology, because of this mental state unemployment would increase exponentially and due to that crime rates ... I.Introduction a.Imagine being so afraid of something that you try everything in your power to avoid it. For example, someone who fears spiders is not going to walk that trail that leads into a wooded area and you can almost guarantee that the person who isn t too fond of heights isn t going to walk across that tall bridge. If you ask these people why they won t partake in these activates, they would probably respond with I don t want to or I m afraid to . Sure most, if not all, of us are afraid of something. I m not thrilled to be standing up in front of everyone giving a speech, but here I stand. b.If your fear prevents you from doing certain activates, then it isn t just a fear, it is actually a phobia . In 2013, Patterson wrote that, A phobia is described as a chronic and extreme fear of an object or situation out of proportion to the danger actually presented by the feared thing. (p. 58). c.I find this description to be most accurate because I, at one point in my life, had a phobia. The phobia I had is called coasterphobia and if the name isn t a dead giveaway, it is the fear of rollercoasters. At that time, you could have offered me five hundred dollars to get on a rollercoaster and I would have turned it down without hesitation. It wasn t until about three years ago that I overcame my phobia and now I absolutely love roller coasters. d. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Copper And Zinc Reaction Lab Report In retrospect, the practical was very easy to follow and achieved the desired results. In order to quantify the amount of electricity generated through the spontaneous redox reaction, a multimeter was used to measure the follow of electricity between the Copper and the anode. This gave us an increased reliability and accuracy than using an analogue voltmeter. When it was calculated, the reaction between the Copper and Magnesium in theory had a potential difference of 2.58v. The Copper and Zinc reaction was also calculated to have the expected potential difference of 1.1v whilst the Copper and Lead had 0.7v. When looking at the half equations of the various reactions, the electron transfer direction can be gathered. The place of oxidation is the side which loses electrons and the place of reduction, which gains them. Therefore, it can be determined that the electron flow direction is from the anodes [ which are Zinc, Magnesium, and Lead], the oxidization agents, to the Copper cathode, the reduction agent.... The occurrence of these inaccuracies may have been due to random errors such as the sizes of the filter paper and meta strips, inaccurate measurements of the solutions, weight of the metal strips. In addition, the introduction of systematic errors may have also increased the inaccuracies in the results. Some systematic errors which occurred were: not sanding any of the metal strips as well as not having a specified amount of time for soaking the filter paper. The niched marketing of the film seemed to, in fact, destine it for greatness. Indeed, Damon and Affleck brought to the table a contemporary edge long awaited for in the film industry, something suitable for their status as the young generation of rising stars. A number of studies have followed this research direction and found that job embeddedness explained significant incremental variance in turnover beyond that explained by job satisfaction and organizational commitment (e.g., Lee et al., 2004; Holtom and O Neill, 2004; Besich, 2005; Holtom and Inderrieden, 2006). However how job embeddedness is developed or what factors cause employees embedded in their jobs to keep them from leaving the organization still requires investigation. This study attempts to partly answer that question by testing whether job embeddedness is a mediator of the relationship between human resource practices and employees intention to quit. Research background and hypotheses Efforts to elucidate the causes of the intention to quit of employees have focused on individual level factors, such as personal preferences, and organizational level factors, such as human resource practices (Deutsch et al., 2000). Individual level explanations stress the differences among people, often by examining the process by which jobholders consider other employment possibilities (Lee and Mitchell, 1994; Deutsch et al., 2000). Individual level studies traditionally link employees interest in changing jobs to their level of job satisfaction (Brayfield and Crockett, 1955; Vroom, 1964; Price, 1977; Mobley et al., 1979). The habitable zone is defined as a region within which Earth like planets might possess the moderate environmental conditions for advanced life to form (von Bloh). Many of these new planets discovered are gas giants with atmospheres too turbulent to support life, so these planets habitable zone is said to be low or nonexistent. The existence of Earthlike planets, however, is just as common as the existence of these extreme planets. It is a well known fact that organic molecules are common within the universe. As stated before, galaxies consist of billions of stars and then multiply that by the amount of galaxies in the universe; one can see why there are a plethora of stars. When stars die, the ones that explode, through a process called a supernova, release enough heavy elements into space that are essential for life to begin. Vilenkin states that the shockwave of these explosions are enough to propel these heavier elements into areas of dense clouds that have the potential to form new binary systems of a star and a planet. This new planet now has the chance to form life. But, the REH claims that the destructive nature of space is more prone to killing off any budding life than to help life develop. There is galactic cannibalism, which is when two galaxies collide and ripe each other apart with the force of gravity, or even stars dying can be a catalyst to the end of extraterrestrial life forming. In another case study, it is reported that age is a crucial foreteller and children aged 10 and above gain a considerable amount of scientific knowledge of the earth. (Straatemeir et al, 2008) This is due to the fact that when children get older, they will have more scientifically correct knowledge of the earth. Additionally, they also state that age exerts a huge influence on the consistency of children s answers. This is attributed to the fact that the consistency was lower for younger children. (Straatemeier et al, 2008). The more knowledgeable the children are, the more consistent their answers are. Besides, children s understanding of the form of the earth is associated significantly with gender differences. Previous case studies have expressed that boys are better at scientific knowledge, including the understanding of the structure of our earth than girls. Straatemeir (2008) argues that the boys are supposed to have a considerably higher consistency mark as did the girls. There are several different categories of farms and they all have specific criteria to be part of that category. The broadest of the categories is the small family farm (sales of less than $250,000). Then under this category is several sub categories which comprise of: limited resource farms (gross sales of less than $100,000, total farm assets less than $250,000, and total operator house hold income less than $20,000), retirement farms (small farms with the operator being retired), residential/lifestyle farms (small farms with the operator having a major occupation other than farming), farming occupation/lower sales (sales less than $100,000), farming occupation /higher sales (sales between $100,000 and $249,999). The other types of farms include large family farms and very large family farms. The final category is non family farm; these types of farms are more like corporations and cooperatives. The reason why the size of a farm is so important to the success is that it all depends on the amount of income that is flowing into the farm. The limited resource, retirement, and lifestyle family farms will have a better chance of prolonging its existence because of its off farm income. These types of farms do not need to worry as much about low prices and low yields because of the other source of cash flow. This brings us to the farming occupation with ... • 28. Dante s Paradise Lost, And Homer s Iliad Along with Milton s Paradise Lost and Homer s Iliad the Commedia of Dante Alighieri represents the very pinnacle of poetic accomplishment. The essay will look at the Vita Nouva as the praise of the miracle; for such was the marvelously beneficent lady, as long as she lived, as Dante often affirms. And in this miracle one can recognized a material attestation of Eternal Truths. And the divine comedyis the glorification of truth itself as revealed to Dante and subsequently to Dante s readers now days. The Vita Nuova may be called the entrance of that solemn sanctuary, the Divine Comedy. This essay will look at Beatrice named, the bringer of beatitude, and her smile. Also Beatrice will be interpreted as the medium of beatitude itself to Dante the poet. The great poet [Dante] may be held in due honour and that he may be for the pupils the teacher of Christian doctrine, he whose one purpose in his poem was to raise mortals from the state of misery that is from the state of sin, and lead them to the state of happiness, that is the divine Grace. Echoing the words of Pope Benedict XV one can see that the principal aim of the sacred poem of Dante is doubtless to point out to the people disposed to evil and deceived the way to salvation, using as an example that which, under the vail of poetic imagery, that Dante gives one to understand happened in his own soul. Human Looping Research Paper II: Variant of the Looping Effects of Human Kinds In the above I have introduced the concept of Hacking s looping effects of human kinds and defended it against a couple of common criticisms. I will now modify the concept in order to make it useful for the case in question. I will then show that this concept remains intelligible. Namely, what I am proposing to do is to remove condition (iii) from Hacking s schema and replace it with a similar concept. Teenagers like myself constantly are bombarded with television, radio, social media, and music that pushes a person to be unique and strive to be themselves. With this new agenda on the rise, comes a new thinking of self confidence. This thinking in return, has led to many teenagers making big decisions that impact them on a much larger scale than the surface level might show. The issue at hand has slowly began to create a culture in which many immature teenagers begin making mature decisions without thinking the consequences through. Over time, modern day media has turned these negative mistakes into a perception of positive results. With millions of young adults interacting with social media on a daily basis, this small issue could grow into having a major effect on society. Parents or guardians should decide whether teenagers get piercings or tattoos and society must put a stop to the idea of individualism in the minds of teenagers while getting back to the root of success; respect, standards, and work ethic.
