Ethical practices related to the supervision and treatment of prison populations 2 INTRODUCTION
This paper will define the treatment of prisons within the United States, Central America and Africa, it
will explain how many of these countries human rights and due process are violated within the
correctional system, it will further exam how inmates under the supervision of correctional staff treat
inmates while they are incarcerated by not allowing them the due process that they are required to
have. Finally, this paper will also analyze cruel and unusual punishment these inmates receive while
under the supervision of correctional staff.
Ethical practices related to the supervision and treatment of prison populations 3
The population of inmates incarcerated in the United States is far higher than any country that
incarcerates inmates throughout the world, the United States incarcerates inmates juveniles, women
and men for crimes that are both non violent as well as violent crimes, by incarcerating these inmates
and placing them under the

Essay on We Need Same-sex Marriage Now
We Need Same sex Marriage Now
Known to some people as a lifetime commitment of devotion, to others a promise to reside with a
stranger, and even to some people as a union arranged by their parents, marriage is a widely varying
ritual practiced all over the world. In the United States, marriage is a freedom of choice and an act of
love, supported with benefits and privileges from the government. It has traditionally been the union
of a woman and a man, made with the expectation of permanence and the aim of producing and
raising offspring. Tradition, however, is beginning to change. The divorce rate is growing, there is an
increase of step families and single parent families, and more and more couples are opting not to have
children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t know one American who would willingly surrender any of these rights² (p. 45).
Instead of legalizing homosexual marriage, many people are advocating a compromise the domestic
partnership. Basically, a domestic partnership is a publicly recognized consent between heterosexual
or homosexual couples to share the cost of living expenses. The consent also serves as a symbolic
commitment to monogamy for many gays. However, many people qualify for the domestic
partnership status under its vague specifications. ³What constitutes a domestic partner ?² questions
Brent Hartinger. ³Could roommates qualify? A woman and her live in maid? It could take an array of
judicial decision making to find out² (p. 57).
This separate but equal attempt is, in truth, not at all an equal alternative to marriage. It is an
agreement proposed by some cities to provide their unmarried municipal workers with bereavement
leave and other benefits. However, the benefits offered are only a small part of the privileges entitled
to married couples, and are available to only a small number of gay and lesbian couples in several
cities.
Furthermore, not only does a domestic partnership deny homosexual couples many rights, it is a
statement that gay relationships are sub normal, which is discriminatory. The widespread belief that
homosexuality is Œwrong causes many gays to live lives filled with alienation and separation from
society.
Often, these emotions arise when

Dynamic Data Driven Selection Of Sensor Streams
On Dynamic Data Driven Selection of Sensor Streams
This paper covers the online sensor selection in which the sensor network and relations between
sensors dynamically change by time and a model which is working for selection of sensors at time
may not work for the sensor selection at time , . The selection model of this paper is similar to model
discussed in section 3 (i.e. Online distributed sensor selection) but it is based on a well defined special
centralized algorithm (central server calculates the utility function and decides which sensors should
be selected).
The main goal of the sensor selection is to preserve battery by selecting a subset of sensors for
prediction. After the sensors have been selected, their value will be read in multiple turns (i.e. active
turns) and it will be used to predict the unselected sensors, then the value of all sensors will be read
(i.e. passive turn) and based on that the active set of the next interval will be selected. The art of this
paper is to find a way to switch between active and passive selection modes in some specific update
intervals (number of active turns before a passive turn) to find the optimized selection of sensors for
the next interval of data collection, this way it preserves the power requirement by activating only few
sensors for multiple turns and then trying to maintain the active set using the collected data of the
passive turns. It accomplishes this task by doing evaluation regression model over multiple

Overview Of Alcoa Intalco Aluminum
Milestone 1: Overview of Alcoa Intalco Aluminum Works
This short paper will discuss a general overview of Alcoa Intalco Aluminum Works with different
aspects of the business in pertaining to either a preparation for a new product launch or new method
created specifically in the hope of reducing costs that will save the company, not just money but the
jobs of hundreds of employees currently employed there.
Brief History
Intalco Aluminum Corp., was the original name of Alcoa Intalco Works, which is an aluminum
refinery that is located in Ferndale, WA. It began smelter operation back in 1966 and owned primarily
by Alumax, Pechiney and Howmet. Most of it employees were and are union workers. In 1998, Alcoa
Inc. and Alumax merged which created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alcoa created its aluminum using a process called Hall Herould through electrolysis since aluminum
is highly reactive, as I have mentioned before, and for this requires a high amount of energy. A single
aluminum plant uses as much electricity as the city of Tacoma. The company is spending millions of
dollars researching ways to use less power. It, however, still takes an average of 16,232 kilowatt hours
to turn out a ton of aluminum, if we are to compare to another product, for instance steel would only
need 77 for a ton. However, there is a reason to why Alcoa Intalco Works stays purely with aluminum
as Isaac Bonell, a writer for The Bellingham Business Journal pointed out that Aluminum is needed to
build infrastructure, to manufacture cars and airplanes, to make high tech medical equipment and to
package your favorite chilled beverage. In the smelting industry, there is no shortage of customers.
Last year, on August 2016, the facility celebrated its 50th birthday in operation which was bittersweet
because they were discussing shutting down some of their potlines again which mean layoff of over
400 employees as well. Unfortunately, energy crisis was not the only problem here but had to do with
the global market prices of aluminum which makes Intalco unprofitable.
Mission/Business: Aluminum
Act with Integrity. Operate with Excellence. Care for People.
At Alcoa, values are a simple reflection of who

What Is Professionalism
What is professionalism in the context of being a student in a doctor of the physical therapist degree
program?
Professional Responsibilities
Professionalism is a characteristic one attainable by a series of conduct that aims towards being the
best one can be. This can be reflected by actions such as the way someone talks and walks. The
characteristics of a leader would be a perfect example of professionalism. These characteristics are as
follows: ethics, responsibility, great habits, desire for knowledge, skills, humbleness, politeness,
wisdom, compassion, loyalty, respect and understanding. These are some of the many qualities one
must attain towards being professional. The application of these qualities defines the ism at the end of
professionalism and that for me it indicates the state of being.
Professionalism in the context of being a student of physical therapy means you will study without
hesitation. The hunger for learning of a professional student is immeasurable because it is constant. A
professional student finds any possible opportunity to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not a façade one puts on when speaking to clients and take off when interacting with co workers,
family or anyone else. In order to be a genuinely professional student, you have to live by what you
preach and treat others the way you want to be treated. A professional student shows respect for
everyone without considering social or financial status. Humility is the ability to accept not knowing
everything. Therefore, a professional student should have the capacity of listening and accepting
advice from anyone. Also a professional student in any type of setting influences people in a positive
way. The commitment to lifelong learning is essential and is the basis of being a professional because
today s knowledge may not be enough to solve tomorrow s

Rick Deckard In The Blade Runner
In a postmodern Los Angeles, main character Rick Deckard, played by Harrison Ford, is left with an
ethical conundrum. Deckard must decide whether he should follow orders and retire the replicants that
he has been tasked with killing. This sci fi/suspense film brings many questions to the viewers mind
about artificial intelligence in this society. This parable like film addresses a multitude of topics such
as what separates humans from androids and the different tragic situations found in this postmodern,
nihilistic, dystopia (Martin, 106 107). In the Blade Runner: The Final Cut directed by Ridley Scott,
Scott utilizes sound, setting, characterization to convey the morals of artificial intelligence and what
differentiates them from humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film takes place in a post modern Los Angeles. The city is run down, dark, pollution filled, and
looks like something that is post war. Despite these things, it is also modern in the sense that there are

Nola Galagher first argues that much of what influenced the film was the historical concerns of the
1960 s and 1970 s which included the combined effects of nuclear war, ecological destruction, and
overpopulation (Galagher, 169). The setting lays the groundwork for the type of society Deckard is in.

humans, but they have also destroyed the planet and act without thinking and seem to have a low

Covered Music Ethical Issues
Covering has become an important part of today s musical world. A practice that started many decades
ago, dating back to the 1940s and beyond, has become not only accepted but expected. It is a complex
issue; however, as it raises issues such as the acknowledgment of the covered music as original art, the
ethical questions the practice raises, and the relevance of the cover to popular music. Artists have
covered songs for many years, and the practice has expanded drastically. Some artists cover songs
performed by an artist covering other songs. Other musicians merely sample parts of a song, using that
sample to create their own work. Recently, rap musicians have even begun producing many remixes
that continue to raise ethical questions. The practice of covering is essential to today s music despite
the moral and legal issues it creates. Today s version of covering is ... Show more content on

Vanilla Ice faced problems when he didn t pay David Bowie and Queen credit or royalties when he
sampled their music for Ice, Ice Baby. Had he done this, his use of their base line would have been
perfectly acceptable. An example of an artist who samples properly is Kanye West. In his song
Stronger, Kanye sampled a line from a Daft Punk song. Mr. West took all the proper steps to credit
Daft Punk which allowed him to create an extremely popular song. If Danger Mouse properly credited
both the Beatles and Jay Z in the creation of his Grey Album, there would have been no concerns and
EMI would not have halted its distribution. Lil Wayne is an artist who creates a lot of remixes, and in
doing so he raises his own popularity and profits substantially. However he gives complete credit to
the original artist and makes sure there are no ethical concerns with his work. As long as an artist
fulfills the proper legal requirements, paying royalties and giving songwriting credit, then there is no
ethical issue with

Three Muslim Themes
This week s reading were very eye opening for me because it brought up subjects that I do not think
about often, but there was three themes in particular that stand out in helping me understand Arab
Muslims better. One theme is doing research about the Muslim religion. As Rheam suggested,
researching about the Muslim culture would could give you some background knowledge about a
client s culture and possibly information about where a client is coming from (Rheam Dr. Garzon,
personal communication, n.d.). For instance, some Arab and Muslim communities are tribal in nature
where the small communities function as a family to some extent. Therefore, a counselor approaches a
Muslim Client as needing independence might go against his or her beliefs.

Courtship Mating: Mating is believed to occur during a limited receptive period prior to the females

What Was The Point Of British Incorporation In The Mid-1700 s
India and America, now two of the largest established countries in the world, were once coerced into
being pawns in a greater British Empire at on time or another. America being settled through the
crown s permission and India s trade being influenced heavily to the point of British incorporation in
the mid 1700 s. Both watched as the British stepped over to force the ruled into submission per the
Crown s benefit. America had to deal with Taxation without representation in which the populace was
unfairly overtaxed to pay for British debts while Indians withstood attacks against their culture,
religions and personal independence while having their resources syphoned out, subjecting the people

Not only that, but since British rule was definite in America, it seemed as though nobody could come

or rewards for finding dissenters. Not only were there issues directly caused by Britain, but there was
infighting about what direction America should go in. With so many British loyalists in the picture
supporting British rule, it was difficult for Americans to stay United against the crown without a big
reason for it. After the Boston Massacre of 1770, in which 5 colonists died. Americans had all the
reason to question the unfair acts set forth by the British. This paved the reasoning to start the violent
Revolutionary war. The only way for anybody to stand against Britain at this point was to use violence
as free speech directed against the crown was considered treason. Anybody who spoke against British

Liberty Work Experience Essay
For the past few years, I have been volunteering at a nearby lesson barn. My tasks usually consist of
removing manure from the pens, refilling water tanks, cleaning out the barn, and checking the fence
line for repairs. When there is time left, however, I help train a pony that will, one day, be used for
lessons. During these training sessions, my instructor teaches me the basics of liberty work so that the
pony learns to both relax around people and how to interact with them. These lessons create a
memorable outdoor experience for me because, in addition to helping my instructor, I am helping a
pony become less fearful of people that interact with him on a regular basis. The skills I have gained
from the liberty work lessons has also encouraged me to continue my education of liberty work and to
share my findings with others so that they may understand their horses on a deeper level. ... Show

Once caught, the pony was skittish, jumping away from the fly spray and balking at loud noises.
When ridden, he would not be able to stand still and would bolt at certain sensations (such as tapping

him to think (rather than reacting to all stimuli by fleeing). After a lesson of teaching me a couple of
games and maneuvers, I would work on the pony. Once he consistently made the desired or positive
response, she [my instructor] would teach me another set of games to challenge both the pony and my
skills as a trainer. While the training process is difficult, it is memorable because of the opportunities
for me to both understand the reasoning for the maneuvers and to observe the progression of the pony

Actuality getting involved in such type of professional conversations improved my level of
communication and taught me how to behave in a professional manner. Also I would like to say that
communication is a dual practice, you not only get to talk and build on your communication skill but,
you also get to listen and by it become an understanding supportive person. One of the drawbacks in
my communication skill enhancement is that I don t think it works well in UK, in this multicultural
university I have struggled to communicate effectively with students and teachers. This can be
explained by Hoftsede s structure of cultural dimensions (Hofstede, Hofstede, and Minkov, 2010). In
his framework he explains the world as complex of diverse nations and people, who act, think and
perform differently (Hoftsede et al., 2010). To overcome this difficulty I was supported by my
colleagues at university.

are based on team work. I used Team Life Cycles to expand my observation and skills on team

Marfan Syndrome Case
Abstract: Marfan syndrome is a genetic connective tissue disorder caused by mutations in the FBNI1
and other genes such as TGFBR1 and TGFBR2. The syndrome affects the skeletal system, the
cardiovascular system, the ocular system, and respiratory systems. Marfan syndrome has a significant
mortality rate and it extremely difficult to diagnosis. The syndrome currently does not have a set
treatment aside from surgery and though recent technological advancements have decreased the
mortality rate, many patients are still dying. Patients suffer a poor quality of life and the demand for a

surprisingly little awareness of it. Many people have never heard of it when asked what it is.

Everyday Use Of Electrons In Atoms
Electrons in Atoms
Electrons are the negatively charged particles that can be found in the atom. Electrons will be located
around clouds that surround the nucleus of an atom. All Together the atom creates a negative charge
that will make sure that it balances the positive charge of the protons in the atomic nucleus. These
clouds are at a certain distance from the nucleus which is properly put into the shells. Due to the fact
that electrons move so quickly it is impossible to see where they are at certain point in time. The
overall shape of the shells change depending on how many electrons an element contains. The higher
the atomic number the more higher the shells plus an electron of an atom will have. The main in
electrons is the way that all the elements rely on each other without the negative charge is the positive

The small particles flows through wires and circuits that create currents of electricity. Electrons flow
from negative charged parts to the positive charged. The negative charge part of a circuit will have

The purpose of this lab is to observe the catalase found in liver cells by measuring how temperature,
pH and enzyme concentrations affect the reaction rates of enzymes.
Background
Enzymes are considered to be biological catalysts meaning they can speed up a chemical reaction in a
cell without being used up in the process. Enzymes do this by lowering the amount of energy needed
to activate the process. The lower the activation energy, the faster the reaction. Without enzymes, vital
life processes would occur very slowly which could be deadly.
Different enzymes are used depending on the chemical process. Some enzymes break down harmful,
poisonous chemicals in our bodies into harmless substances. In this lab, the enzyme we tested was ...

Essay on Frank Stellar
Frank Stella
An American Artist
Frank Stella is an American painter who remains poplar after almost four decades of work. He was
born in 1936 and studied at the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts under Patrick Morgan
and at Princeton University under William Seitz and Stephen Greene. After 1958 he lived in New
York. He came to the fore in the 1960s as one of the most inventive of the new school of Post
Painterly Abstraction, a reaction against Abstract Expressionism. He was then exhibited widely in
New York, Los Angeles, and elsewhere. A retrospective exhibition in 1970 was held under the
auspices of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He began as one of

His work in this respect had affinities with the primary structures of some minimal artist and with the
All Over style of painting in which attention is evenly diffused over the whole canvas, leaving no
outstanding points of interest brought together by balance, harmony, rhythm, and so on (Osborne 521).
Until his last month at Princeton, Stella had painted in a style that was derived from de Kooning,
Frankenthaler, and Kline, and he would subsequently absorb influences from Gottlieb and
Motherwell. At the end of his time at Princeton he entered on a period of rapid development in which
he produced compositions containing single or multiple box forms placed in varying contexts of bands
or stripes. These pictures make up the bridge, or transition, to the Black series in which his profile as
an independent painter was established. Many of these transitional paintings reflect Stella s excitement

This is done to prevent other individuals, who may be able to see the user s computer screen, from
viewing the password as plain text. In order to insure the correct amount of keystrokes by the user, the
star or dot remains on the screen. However, the text is not displayed for the world to see. Hidden input
controls are extremely useful when performing data entry tasks with a database driven web
application. Often, the forms used to edit data are in reference to an entry within the database that has
an integer primary key. This key is usually arbitrary integer that increments automatically, provides
indexing, and has absolutely no meaning to the user. When the user selects to update the data, it is
important that the systems knows what ID is being updated. However, there is no reason to display
this ID to the user. In order to submit the ID of the edited database record along with the modified
form fields, the ID can be assigned to a hidden input control. Data integrity with input controls is
achieved both by the nature of the controls themselves and basic script validation techniques. As far as
scripting is concerned, each data field can be easily verified upon submit before sending the data to
the server. For the types of input controls chosen, selecting inappropriate input controls can result in
data integrity issues. A text input control is rather straight forward. It is also the easiest field to

Essay on Feminist Theory in Heart of Darkness
Angels and Monsters in Heart of Darkness Joseph Conrad s varying depiction of women in his novel
Heart of Darkness provides feminist literary theory with ample opportunity to explore the overlying
societal dictation of women s gender roles and expectations in the late nineteenth and early twentieth
century. The majority of feminist theorists claim that Conrad perpetuates patriarchal ideology, yet
there are a few that argue the novel is gendered feminine. Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar claim
Conrad s Heart of Darkness...penetrates more ironically and thus more inquiringly into the dark core
of otherness that had so disturbed the patriarchal, the imperialist, and the psychoanalytic
imaginations...Conrad designs for Marlow a pilgrimage whose ... Show more content on

This need to separate the angelic qualities of women into a totally separate world might come from the
desire to protect one s mother, and plays into the idea of the eternal feminine that must be preserved.
She has no story of her own but gives advice and consolation to others, listens, smiles, sympathizes...
(Gilbert and Gubar 815). The aunt is a perfect example of such feminine qualities and represents the
untainted light of civilization. Marlow then encounters two women who represent the gatekeepers of
Darkness, which puts Marlow in an uneasy mood. Conrad uses these women to symbolize both the
angelic and the monstrous aspects of the female gender; they welcome the newcomers and guide them
to the next step of their journey, yet knit black wool which symbolizes death, to which they are
escorting their guests. This dichotomy echoes throughout Marlow s journey, Often far away there I
thought of these two, guarding the door of Darkness, knitting black wool as for a warm pall, one
introducing, introducing continuously to the unknown, the other scrutinizing the cheery and foolish
faces with unconcerned old eyes (Conrad 12). The two women further the theme of light into
darkness, the fall of one s humanity from civilized to savage. While the story starts with an illustration
of the angelic feminine in the form of Marlow s aunt, Conrad presents the first step into darkness by
representing the two female

Alice Paul Thesis
Suffragist Alice Paul got transferred out of the psychopathic ward of Washington, and being force fed.
During her toil Alice Paul said, Why not let this miserable creature starve. The country would be much
better off without her and the balance of her gang of pickets. (Dismore 1). Alice Paul went on this
immense hunger strike for her six companions. She wanted to give her six companions better food.
She threatened to kill herself of starvation. She was very determined, she was force fed multiple times,
but she cared so much for her companion that she didn t give up. Amidst her hunger strike she and her
companions were put into solitary confinement inside a tiny cell with boarded up windows. All this
shows Alice Paul will never give up and she spoke with her actions not her words. Reason 2
Throughout her life Alice Paul fought hard against president Woodrow Wilson. She put up banners.

Election Day, President Of The United States
During election day, millions of Americans are going to cast their vote for who they want to be the
next president of the United States. Except is a lot more complicated than it seems. The electoral
college is the collection of 538 delegates that have the power to determine who the next president will
be; the number of total representatives in the House and Senate. These 538 votes aren t given to the
citizen directly, but they are instead divided among the 50 states in America. Currently, people are
suggesting who their state should pick for president. Simply put, if a state has a majority of votes for
one candidate, (however small the majority is) that candidate gets all the electoral votes from said
state; winner takes all. So, a candidate must win over half of the voting population in enough states to
get the majority of electoral votes to win the election. But that s not all, these said electors aren t
nailed down to vote for who their state constituents want at all; millions of votes can be thrown in the
trash and forgotten forever.
Many believe the Electoral College s votes protect the states that have small populations from the
large populations states and in turn candidates will have to give more attention to small states. If this
was true, it is being executed horrifically. Candidates are visiting, advertising, and campaigning more
and more in swing states. In other words, the electoral college doesn t make candidates care about
small states, or even big states.

Who Moved My Cheese focuses on change. The story begins with the characters: Angela, Nathan,
Carlos, and Jessica, and Michael who are old school friends who gather to reminisce about the
different paths their lives have taken. The group all talks about how their lives have ended up
completely unlike how they had expected. Michael offers his take on the theme of change and decides
to share a story.
The story centers around two mice, Sniff and Scurry, and two little people , Hem and Haw. The author

that actually exists. He d never been so afraid of never finding new cheese that he didn t even want to

found enough cheese in the corridors to keep him going. Now he looked forward to finding more. Just
looking ahead was becoming exciting. Now he realized it was natural for change to continually occur,
whether you expect it or not. Change could surprise you only if you didn t expect it and weren t

it was obtained by genuine hard work and ingenuity. Haw left a trail of crumbs for Hem to follow
along with inspirational messages on the wall. At one point he even thought about going back to get
Hem, but realized that he had already tried to convince Hem, it was up to Hem to discover for himself
how to push himself past his comforts and fears.

The Secret Lives of The Brain
PART I. Incognito: The Secret Lives of The Brain, was very straight forward and extremely intriguing.
As David Eagleman, a neuroscientist, elaborates on the American criminal justice system, he brings
out important factors that I believe everyone should be focusing on in this country. He states that our
actions are not only made up by our unconscious mind, but the way we perceive things is controlled
by our unconscious ability to even realize we are controlling it. The conscious mind not only
represents only a small part of our brain activity and function, but it also perceives certain behaviors
differently when constructed with drugs or damage The process of the unconscious brain activity

David Eagleman explained in detail how the cognitive brain works and what factors play a part in the
thought process. He did so by picking apart different segments of the brain and describing what
developmental processes it goes through when obtaining thought and language. I would definitely
recommend this book to other people if they want to better understand how people think, act, and
behave. When certain things are skewed in the brain, it reacts in many different ways. Whether that be
poorly or very highly. It depends on what factors are brought upon the brain and what that specific
part of the brain takes in. Eagleman does a fantastic job explaining with good humor how the thought
process comes about. Without our cognitive ability to think and act, there would be no personality or
knowledge on this earth. I believe that the book was sort of well organized in that Eagleman did a
good job of pairing together segments of the brain and explaining how they work together or as a
whole. But, I did however, think that Eagleman jumped around a lot and didn t seem very clear in
some parts. For instance, when he would talk about how the conscious mind is just the tip of the
iceberg in the brain, then what is the rest of the brain doing? He goes into detail about the conscious
and unconscious brain, but what about the subconscious part? It s crazy to think that our body can
react to certain stimuli and situations before we even realize that we need to act upon

my bedroom, my sister s bedroom, my parent s bedroom, and in the hallway. The living room, laundry
room, and the two bathrooms do not have smoke alarms. Smoke alarms are not placed in kitchens to
avoid false alarms. To protect yourself, place the smoke alarms 10 feet from a cooking appliance.
Smoke alarms should never be installed by windows and doors because they will not work correctly.
All wall mounted alarms should be installed not more than 12 inches away from the ceiling. Install
smoke alarms within 3 feet of a building s apex. Fire extinguishers can also be used to decrease the
chance of a fire. Every family needs training for what to do when a real fire comes. In addition, every
family should have an evacuation plan to escape a fire. Fire sprinklers inside the home can help
protect your family from a starting fire. To prevent a fire, blow out all candles before going to sleep.
Always check smoke alarms every month to make sure they are working properly.
The importance of fire protection is that it saves lives and saves property. Smoke alarms allow more
time for people to escape. Smoke alarms can alert people to get out of the home fast. Also, some
smoke alarms allow the fire department to respond quickly if they are connected to home security

seductive, and cunning woman. She s smarter than Dempewolf and, as stated, in the second act she

for each character. However, the script relies on too much dialogue which slows the pace. The tension
is best in the first act, especially in the opening scene when Bass saves the mother and daughter. Then
when they try to trap Lauralee, the tension is felt. Certainly, when Bass is captured, there s compelling
tension. However, the tension can be stronger if there s more of a ticking clock, more action, and less
scenes that rely on dialogue. There are small formatting errors. Only CAP the name when a character

The first topic is about a worker s relation towards his or her workmates with consideration of the

relationship at workplace, I think; tendency of finding a value in working hard, the hidden but strict
rule of having worship for the boss, and the subjection of women. I will take up each factor.
First of all, I ll describe the effect of Japanese tendency of finding value in working hard. One of the
reason is that Japanese are concerned about how they are perceived by the others. I don t know the

Compare Cathedral And A Good Man Is Hard To Find
When reading Cathedral, and A Good Man is Hard to Find, the reader can identify similarities and
differences between the two. Judgement can be seen in both works, one grounded in discriminatory
values, the other based on a crime and deviance background. In both works, our main characters
inherent bias against social traits of others create scenario s in which these individual s lives are
altered. In Cathedral, the unnamed narrator, husband, defines the character of Robert as an anomaly in
which he doesn t comprehend. He was no one I knew. And his being blind bothered me. My idea of
blindness came from the movies. In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never laughed.
Sometimes they were led by seeing eye dogs. A blind man in my house was not something I looked

opinions towards those with disabilities creating a type of phobia. After hearing stories about Robert,
told by his wife, he could not imagine this blind man having a good life, one worth living. He assumes
that Robert s wife, Beulah, had lived a very pitiful life as well, not having her husband ever knowing
what she looked like or what subtle nuances her facial expressions could only show through sight.

Charles Perrault s Impact On Modern History
The fairy tale Cinderella is a well known story about serving, kindness, true love, and a little bit of
magic. It is one of the oldest fairy tales and has been interpreted many different ways. Even though the
details have changed, the main storyline remains the same. Around 1697, a child friendly version of
Cinderella was created by Charles Perrault who had a major impact on modern history in France
(Encyclopedia Americana, 2006).
Charles Perrault was a french poet, prose writer, and storyteller in the mid to late 17th century. He was
born in Paris on January 12th, 1628 and lived until 1703, passing away in Paris on May 16th

It is better to have intelligence, courage, common sense, and kindness than beauty. Cinderella was
beautiful, and was even more beautiful because she had those other qualities as well (Encyclopedia
Americana, 2006).
A review on the classic story of Cinderella shares that Charles Perrault is credited with the best known
version. In the french version, the shoe was made of vair, but the word for glass in french is verre.
Both words are pronounced the same and that is how Perrault made the switch to the glass slipper.
Disney chose Perrault s version of Cinderella most likely because it was not as gruesome as the
Brother s Grimm version (Review, 2011).
In another review, Charles Perrault is known not only for solidifying fairy tales as a literary genre, but
also wrote nearly all of the signature stories of this genre. All the stories mentioned earlier in the Tales
of Mother Goose spread through levels of modern art and entertainment. In Perrault s time, children s
literature wasn t a thing and that is why the morals of his stories take on more worldly issues while
still having childlike fantasies (Review,

beliefs we carry about ourselves, Dweck found in her research, has to do with how we view and

intelligence, character, and creativity are static traits givens which we can t change in any way, and
success is the allegation of that inborn intelligence, an estimate of how those givens measure up
against an equally fixed standard; aiming for prosperity and dodging failure becomes a way of

Endotoxin Essay
Endotoxin
Endotoxin are bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), and is formed especially by lipids and sugars. It is
present in the outer cell envelope of gram negative bacterias and its purpose are to maintain the cell
membrane intact. The endotoxin is the principal component of the bacterial membrane. (Raetz, 2002)
LPS has a structure based on three main components: Lipid A, that is the hydrophobic part, an R
polysaccharide and an O polysaccharide (or O antigen). Consequently, it has both hydrophilic and
hydrophobic regions, which makes possible the formation of aggregates when the endotoxin goes into
the plasma.

The main difference is that the first one uses microporous membranes, and those contains functional
ligands attached to the internal pore surface throughout the membrane structure.
The advantage of membrane adsorbers is that the biding sites are not nestles within diffusive pores,
they are located alond the through pores, therefore, is possible to eliminate the diffusive pores, unlike
the packed column.
The membrane is made of a polymeric substrate that is chemically coupled to a functional ligand. Liu
(2010) also states that the membrane that attracted most of industry interest in purification process was
the quarternary amine (Q) membrane. At something about neutral to somewhat basic pH and at low
conductivities, endotoxin adhere to the Q membrane, while the basic antibody molecules flow through
the membrane without being bound.
Unfortunately, there are some limitations in this method, as its irregular flow distributuion, non
identical membrane size distribution, variable membrane thickness, the availability of appropriate
scale down devices and low binding capacities. Low biding capacity is attribuited to low surface area

The definition of appeasement is to make a concession to an enemy power to avoid conflict; which it
was supposed to in WW2. Although appeasement is designed to avoid conflict, some believe that the
appeasement in WW2 just created more conflict and ended up lengthening the war. There are
numerous reasons as to why appeasement was the right option for Great Britain and France and as to
why they not only wanted, but needed to appease. Examples of these reasons are the US Separationist
Approach, the damage of WW1 and the lack of army and weapons within Great Britain and France,
which was fuelled by the fact that they didn t expect a war due to Versailles.
When World War 1 had ended, Germany had been at a great loss due to Versailles. They lost

Short Essay On Germany
Germany is known to be one of the largest and most powerful economies in the world. It is located in
Central and Western Europe, and stretches along the Baltic and North Seas. The country covers a total
of 357,022 sq km, 348,672 sq km with land and 8,350 sq km with water. Germany shares borders with
nine other countries, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria,
Belgium, and The Netherlands. Germany is the seventh largest country in Europe, and the 62nd largest
in the world (CIA World Factbook, 2016). The capital of Germany is Berlin, but it also surrounded by
many other major cities (Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart, Aachen, Nuremberg, Bonn, Heidelberg, and

There is also the household consumption of 53.7%, government 19.7%, investments in fixed capital
19.9%, exports 45.9% and imports 38.4% that make up the country s GDP composition. The
automotive, engineering, and chemical industries are some of the major industries in Germany
economy that contribute to the nation s GDP.
The foundation of the German banking system is well developed. Germany was the first bureau in
Europe, and joined the World Bank in 1952. Banks in Germany are what holds the country s
investment capital and are controlled by universal banks, which are able to offer a variety of banking,
and savings. In addition, the universal banks make up three fourths of total business, and play as
shareholders in the country s industrial firm. Deutsche Bundesbank is the central bank of Germany
and its obligation is to oversee economic growth, develop the banking and financial system and
stability in the economy. The central bank is who funds the government, and sets in motion the
investment in the public sector. With the desire of economic growth, the central bank should attempt
to maintain internal price stability, by adopting different interest rates (Bravenewcoin, 2017) .
With the launch of European monetary union and the introduction of the euro at the beginning of
1999, this task was transferred to the Eurosystem ( Bravenewcoin, 2016) . The German currency is the
euro, although the euro is not the German money , it is what

Dangerous Knowledge Essay
Dangerous Knowledge
The pursuit of forbidden knowledge is the impetus and downfall of man s quest to understand the
unknown. In the Bible, God warns man that knowledge brings more regret than it does value: He that
increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow (Ecclesiastes 1:18.). Throughout the history of mankind, man
has been faced with the temptation to reach the level of God. The Tower of Babel is the first attempt
by man to become as powerful as God when man tries to build a tower that reaches the heavens.
Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make
for ourselves a name; lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth (Genesis 11:4). In
the end, God punishes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such were the professor s words rather let me say such the words of fate, enounced to destroy me...I
felt as if my soul were grappling with a palpable enemy...Soon my mind was filled with one thought,
one conception, one purpose (48). In Jane Goodall s Frankenstein and the Reprobate s Conscience, she
notes the harmful potentials that scientific knowledge can create: Frankenstein sets the imagination
working amidst the fearful prospects conjured up by scientific experiment (Article Finder).
Goodall suggests that through history science has shown itself to be so pregnant with mischief that,
where the conscience of science is concerned, we can never have enough of it (Article Finder).
Frankenstein cannot control his quest for knowledge, because knowledge silences his conscience and
excites his imagination. When Frankenstein succeeds in discovering the cause of generation and life
(52), he ponders whether he should create life or stop. I doubted at first whether I should attempt the
creation of a being like myself, or one of simpler organization; but my imagination was too much
exalted at my first success to permit me to doubt my ability to give life to an animal as complex and
wonderful as man, thinks Frankenstein (53). The pursuit of knowledge not only takes over

USA policy of containment
Was the US policy of Containment a success or a failure?
It was in a speech made by the 33rd President of the United States of America, Harry Truman in which
he announced a policy that would undoubtedly shape the way his nation would be looked at for much
of the century (or at least the half of it that remained). It was in this speech that he announced his very
own Doctrine, intended to to support free people who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed
minorities or by outside pressures. , to save the free peoples of Eastern Europe from the monster
known as Communism, a political ideology born out of the Russian Revolution of 1917, that had
spread somewhat like a plague, throughout the lands in the East, which Stalin and ... Show more

Initially, American leaders were unsure about how exactly containment would be implemented. Would
it be applied everywhere? Would it involve economic aid to help nations reconstruct their economies?
Would it involve military confrontation? The answer was to come soon.
In June 1947, the United States announced the Marshall Plan, intended to help economic recovery in
Europe and thus prevent the spread of Communism in a Europe that was increasingly becoming a
breeding ground of hate , thus providing a comforting environment for the rise of the Marxist
ideology. At first, the Marshall Plan seemed to be a success, with economic aid worth $17 billion
being made available to Europe and ensuring the protection of democratic governments in Turkey and
Greece. Marshall Aid did help economic recovery in Europe, erasing unemployment and improving
living standards greatly. Most Western European nations were happy to accept American aid in order
to redevelop their economies. However, Stalin forbade any Eastern European countries from accepting
the Plan and setup organizations like the Cominform and Comecon instead, to further tighten Stalin s
grip over Eastern Europe.
One of containment s major aims was also to ensure that West Germany and West Berlin could get its
economy back on track to prevent the infiltration of Communism from East Germany, controlled by
the Soviets. In 1946, the Allied zones of Germany were combined

Key Factors For School Wide Behavior
Key Factors for School Wide Behavior Supports
Implementation and Sustainability
Benoit A. Wyble
Texas A M University San Antonio
In the field of education there are many factors that contribute to the success and failures of students
and teachers who work to educate. Of these factors, perhaps one of the most important is in the area of
classroom behavior and behavior management. Behavior management is such an important aspect in
this field that teachers often highlight the frustration of dealing with bad students and bad behaviors as
a leading cause of leaving the profession (Reinke, Herman, Stormont, 2013). Taking on the task of
working to create a system that can be applied to help build a successful learning ... Show more

As mentioned the focus of much of the current research is on identifying those factors that individuals
within education feel are most important to the successful implementation and sustainment of an
effective SWPBIS program. Factors that have been found through the various research to be most
important include administrator support, confidence in SWPBIS, and proper application of data
(Bambara, Goh, Kern, Caskie, 2012; Mathews, McIntosh, Frank, May, 2014; McIntosh, Predy, Upreti,
Hume, Turri, Mathews, 2014; McIntosh, Sterett, Hume, Frank, Turri, Mathews, 2013). Studies have
hypothesized that these factors would be seen singled out as having the biggest impacts. These beliefs
tended to play out within the results of the studies. Administrative support in the form of a strong
school principle and staff buy in were seen to be instrumental in the implementation of a solid
program by the educators who agreed to be surveyed (McIntosh, et al., 2014). The findings showing
that school personnel believe that having a strong school principle who provides for and supports the
use of SWPBIS tends to make sense when viewed from the perspective of leadership. Schools where
staff believe the principle to have strong and effecitve leadership skills score significantly higher
results in student behavior outcomes when SWPBIS is being implemented

Two Accounts for the Moral Wrongness of Torture
Torture is morally wrong because it can affect an individual physically, socially and psychologically.
This essay will address the physical affects and psychological affects towards people. Torture is
unacceptable because is damages a person s humanity, values, respect and reputation of the moral
authorities. This essay will discuss two accounts for the moral wrongness of torture and they have
been discovered by William Twining s and from his research he noted torture to be morally wrong
since the rights of the victim is violated, secondly David Sussman who believes torture is morally
wrong because the victim is turned against the victim herself. Torture includes forcing the victim to
1)perform sexual activities, or pose in a sexual manner , 2)beatings and burns 3) placing hoods over
the head and covering the eyes by using duct tape 4)and waterboarding. Waterboarding is the most
commonly used for torture in nowadays, this method involves placing a cloth over the victims face
and causes the victim to experience the sensation of drowning. Torture may affect someone s life
socially because the individual shall find it hard to make friends, difficult to adapt to a new culture and
they will feel uncertain and lost about the future (Gerrity et al 2001). Unfortunately torture will also
make the victim feel guilty and ashamed about themselves because of the humiliation they have
experienced. Lastly, the psychological symptoms impact the victim which includes anxiety, mood

William Shakespeare: King Henry V
Though William Shakespeare: King Henry V may not be one of the best of his plays, through the
protagonist King Henry V he depicts an ideal image that leaders should seek religious guidance from
religious leaders in the quest to rule. This is to provide guidance in their leadership and rule. Various
scenes in the play are constructed to illustrate King Henry V Christian character like mercy, caring for
the poor and his sense of justice which is experienced in the way he deals with prisoners (Stephen).
Furthermore, King Henry V religious nature is depicted throughout the play. This is seen severally
when he usually seeks the advice of the archbishop. Furthermore, ... Show more content on

This aspect helps to mold him to his future triumphs as a famous leader. In addition to that, His
childhood experiences help build his morals and instill his Christian values (Stephen). Also, Henry V
youth helps him develop a good relationship with his soldiers because he is used to talking with
everyone. William Shakespeare uses the character of Henry V to provide insight to people that leaders
should maintain a pure relationship with the people they rule. Through this, Leaders build and live in a
harmonious state. Therefore, drawing from this play, leaders should not raise their identity once they
assume power and forget about their past friends. Leaders when rising to fame and popularity, should
keep hold of their humble upbringing together with their longtime friends. This helps them remember
their personal lives and have a touch of the common citizen. Moreover, the play emphasizes on the
impact that King Henry V had to his soldiers, and despite the play not showing numerous occasion
when King Henry was in the battle, his vivid contribution and effort are recognizable throughout.
William Shakespeare illustrates Henry V as an inspiration to soldiers and people as he helps them rise
to larger ranks and attain more significant achievements (William, The Life Of King Henry The Fifth).

Film Production And Production Major Essay
Imagine hearing your alarm clock start to buzz and you turn to look at the clock, the time reads 4am.
You get up, have a quick breakfast, and get dressed for work. By the time you end up back at home it
is around 11pm 12am and you are exhausted but have to do the same thing over in the morning. This
lifestyle is quite normal for people working in film production and this schedule is typical to last over
a three month period. Although film production is an exhausting profession it can be very rewarding in
itself. Film is an art form and producers make a generous living on the wages if done correctly.
Missouri State is home to an excelling Film and Production major by the name of Thomas
Romainville. He has been in the program here since the beginning of the fall 2016 semester and has
had an abundance of success thus far. Thomas is from Belgium and came to the United States in 2011
as an exchange student. His main goal for studying away was to better his English and go back to
Belgium to start working on a career. Although he did not know what that career might be, being
bilingual in French and English would expand his career options exponentially. He did however have
a passion for movies and film early on in life. He owned a small camera when he was young and
would make small videos, short documentaries, and practice editing during his time in Belgium. After
his pilgrimage to the United States he became involved in school and met two of his now best friends.
These friends were

Essay on We Need Same-sex Marriage Now We Need Same sex Marriage Now Known to some people as a lifetime commitment of devotion, to others a promise to reside with a stranger, and even to some people as a union arranged by their parents, marriage is a widely varying ritual practiced all over the world. In the United States, marriage is a freedom of choice and an act of love, supported with benefits and privileges from the government. It has traditionally been the union of a woman and a man, made with the expectation of permanence and the aim of producing and raising offspring. Tradition, however, is beginning to change. The divorce rate is growing, there is an increase of step families and single parent families, and more and more couples are opting not to have children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I don t know one American who would willingly surrender any of these rights² (p. 45). Instead of legalizing homosexual marriage, many people are advocating a compromise the domestic partnership. Basically, a domestic partnership is a publicly recognized consent between heterosexual or homosexual couples to share the cost of living expenses. The consent also serves as a symbolic commitment to monogamy for many gays. However, many people qualify for the domestic partnership status under its vague specifications. ³What constitutes a domestic partner ?² questions Brent Hartinger. ³Could roommates qualify? A woman and her live in maid? It could take an array of judicial decision making to find out² (p. 57). This separate but equal attempt is, in truth, not at all an equal alternative to marriage. It is an agreement proposed by some cities to provide their unmarried municipal workers with bereavement leave and other benefits. Dynamic Data Driven Selection Of Sensor Streams On Dynamic Data Driven Selection of Sensor Streams This paper covers the online sensor selection in which the sensor network and relations between sensors dynamically change by time and a model which is working for selection of sensors at time may not work for the sensor selection at time , . The selection model of this paper is similar to model discussed in section 3 (i.e. Online distributed sensor selection) but it is based on a well defined special centralized algorithm (central server calculates the utility function and decides which sensors should be selected). The main goal of the sensor selection is to preserve battery by selecting a subset of sensors for prediction. After the sensors have been selected, their value will be read in multiple turns (i.e. active turns) and it will be used to predict the unselected sensors, then the value of all sensors will be read (i.e. passive turn) and based on that the active set of the next interval will be selected. The art of this paper is to find a way to switch between active and passive selection modes in some specific update intervals (number of active turns before a passive turn) to find the optimized selection of sensors for the next interval of data collection, this way it preserves the power requirement by activating only few sensors for multiple turns and then trying to maintain the active set using the collected data of the passive turns. It accomplishes this task by doing evaluation regression model over multiple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It, however, still takes an average of 16,232 kilowatt hours to turn out a ton of aluminum, if we are to compare to another product, for instance steel would only need 77 for a ton. However, there is a reason to why Alcoa Intalco Works stays purely with aluminum as Isaac Bonell, a writer for The Bellingham Business Journal pointed out that Aluminum is needed to build infrastructure, to manufacture cars and airplanes, to make high tech medical equipment and to package your favorite chilled beverage. In the smelting industry, there is no shortage of customers. Last year, on August 2016, the facility celebrated its 50th birthday in operation which was bittersweet because they were discussing shutting down some of their potlines again which mean layoff of over 400 employees as well. Unfortunately, energy crisis was not the only problem here but had to do with the global market prices of aluminum which makes Intalco unprofitable. Mission/Business: Aluminum Act with Integrity. • 24. Election Day, President Of The United States During election day, millions of Americans are going to cast their vote for who they want to be the next president of the United States. Except is a lot more complicated than it seems. The electoral college is the collection of 538 delegates that have the power to determine who the next president will be; the number of total representatives in the House and Senate. These 538 votes aren t given to the citizen directly, but they are instead divided among the 50 states in America. Currently, people are suggesting who their state should pick for president. Simply put, if a state has a majority of votes for one candidate, (however small the majority is) that candidate gets all the electoral votes from said state; winner takes all. So, a candidate must win over half of the voting population in enough states to get the majority of electoral votes to win the election. But that s not all, these said electors aren t nailed down to vote for who their state constituents want at all; millions of votes can be thrown in the trash and forgotten forever. Many believe the Electoral College s votes protect the states that have small populations from the large populations states and in turn candidates will have to give more attention to small states. If this was true, it is being executed horrifically. Candidates are visiting, advertising, and campaigning more and more in swing states. In other words, the electoral college doesn t make candidates care about small states, or even big states. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He d never been so afraid of never finding new cheese that he didn t even want to start looking. Taking that first step created a new outlook from Haw, Since starting his journey, he had found enough cheese in the corridors to keep him going. Now he looked forward to finding more. Just looking ahead was becoming exciting. Now he realized it was natural for change to continually occur, whether you expect it or not. Change could surprise you only if you didn t expect it and weren t looking for it. Furthermore, any new cheese that Haw found was even more satisfying by the fact that it was obtained by genuine hard work and ingenuity. Haw left a trail of crumbs for Hem to follow along with inspirational messages on the wall. At one point he even thought about going back to get Hem, but realized that he had already tried to convince Hem, it was up to Hem to discover for himself how to push himself past his comforts and fears. As David Eagleman, a neuroscientist, elaborates on the American criminal justice system, he brings out important factors that I believe everyone should be focusing on in this country. He states that our actions are not only made up by our unconscious mind, but the way we perceive things is controlled by our unconscious ability to even realize we are controlling it. The conscious mind not only represents only a small part of our brain activity and function, but it also perceives certain behaviors differently when constructed with drugs or damage The process of the unconscious brain activity differs from the conscious part but they both ... He did so by picking apart different segments of the brain and describing what developmental processes it goes through when obtaining thought and language. I would definitely recommend this book to other people if they want to better understand how people think, act, and behave. When certain things are skewed in the brain, it reacts in many different ways. Whether that be poorly or very highly. It depends on what factors are brought upon the brain and what that specific part of the brain takes in. Eagleman does a fantastic job explaining with good humor how the thought process comes about. Without our cognitive ability to think and act, there would be no personality or knowledge on this earth. I believe that the book was sort of well organized in that Eagleman did a good job of pairing together segments of the brain and explaining how they work together or as a whole. But, I did however, think that Eagleman jumped around a lot and didn t seem very clear in some parts. For instance, when he would talk about how the conscious mind is just the tip of the iceberg in the brain, then what is the rest of the brain doing? He goes into detail about the conscious and unconscious brain, but what about the subconscious part? Around 1697, a child friendly version of Cinderella was created by Charles Perrault who had a major impact on modern history in France (Encyclopedia Americana, 2006). In the french version, the shoe was made of vair, but the word for glass in french is verre. Both words are pronounced the same and that is how Perrault made the switch to the glass slipper. Disney chose Perrault s version of Cinderella most likely because it was not as gruesome as the Brother s Grimm version (Review, 2011).
