When choosing a partner, qualities like responsiveness, technical expertise, flexibility, and value for money are important. For RedR, outsourcing provided an interim solution of a peer-to-peer network and contractor support, with a long term solution of a WAN, local server, and dedicated remote desktop server. Tips for keeping IT running smoothly include keeping things simple, flexibility from both sides, educating users, doing the best with available resources, monitoring the provider, being proactive, and communicating. The Money Mentors Programme
We funded a formal academic evaluation to support Toynbee Hall’s Money Mentors Programme in Tower Hamlets, an initiative aimed at improving participants’ financial confidence, increasing their financial capability and reducing financial exclusion. Toynbee Hall is a community organisation that pioneers ways to reduce poverty and disadvantage. Based in the East End of London it has been a catalyst for social reform in the UK for almost 130 years giving some of the country’s most deprived communities a voice, providing access to free advice and support services and working to tackle social injustice.
Streetlife Evaluation Report 2018
The Streetlife Trust Ltd Evaluation Report for 2018 provides an overview of the organization's services and outcomes for young people over the 2017-2018 reporting period. Key findings include:

Clinical Social Franchising: Organizing private healthcare providers to addre...The Private Sector in Health Symposium
The past decade has seen a growing appreciation of the importance of private healthcare providers as the first, and often only, source of healthcare in many countries. This has led to a range of interventions aimed at engaging these providers to deliver standardized public health goods and services. One partnership modality, called clinical social franchising, applies commercial principles to achieve this goal.
In 2012, 74 clinical social franchising programs were operational in 40 countries. The programmes included networks of 66,000+ providers that delivered franchised clinical and health services for family planning; maternal, newborn and child health; and to diagnose and treat TB, malaria and/or HIV. Millions of people received services. The scale and overall health impact of these programs is documented in the Clinical Social Franchising Compendium, 2013 (http://bit.ly/10nVT25).
This approach to engaging private purveyors of health and clinical services is gaining traction worldwide. The evidence base for this approach is also increasing, with studies now addressing health impact, quality of care, new usership of formal medical services, cost-effectiveness and equity.

1) Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a non-profit research organization that works to reduce poverty through evidence-based policy. It has conducted over 300 randomized evaluations across 50 countries.
2) IPA Malawi has grown since starting work in 2009, now employing 17 staff and overseeing a $1.6 million annual budget. It focuses on education, health, enterprise development, and agriculture.
3) Randomized controlled trials are an important tool for impact evaluation but are not fully utilized in Malawi. IPA Malawi has completed over 11 research projects in areas like agriculture, rural development, and governance.

Pro bono economics
Pro Bono Economics aims to match professional economists with charities to provide pro bono assistance measuring performance and impact, having supported over 260 volunteers from various economic organizations to work on over 160 projects for charities serving groups like the homeless, ex-offenders, and disabled people. PBE was incorporated in 2009 and has grown from managing 11 projects with no staff to over 40 projects annually with a few part-time staff through fostering volunteering in economics.
