Historically, the Sunnis and the Shi ites have been at opposite sides of the ethnic/cultural/religious and
political fence. Such differences have led to numerous violent encounters between the two groups,
with neither group appearing to be willing to make any concessions regarding their differences. This
paper will discuss the differences between Shi ites and Sunnis based on the thesis that these
differences are based on conflicting beliefs related to the successor of their Prophet Mohammad.
The differences between the Sunnis and Shi ites are founded on their disagreement over who was to be
their Prophet Mohammad s successor. On one side, there were those who believed that the next leader
should come from Mohammed s bloodline; on the other side, there were those who subscribed to their
next leader being a highly qualified leader who would follow the teachings of Mohammed (Blanchard,
1). At first, the leaders of the community agreed to elect Abu Bakr to be the first successor or caliph of
Mohammed. Most Muslims at that time seemed to be supportive of such decision. However, others
supported another successor Ali Ibn Abi Talib, the cousin and son in law of Mohammed (Blanchard,
1). Ali was not considered in the election by the Muslim leaders because he did not have seniority in

reduction of 18% (Refer to Appendix VI for equation), and this value increases to 24% from the tree
height of 0.50 metres to 1.50 metres. Fielding (1952) on his research on Monterey pine trees, also
found that some trees showed a progressive decrease in the moisture content, as the tree height
increased. The reason for this maybe due to the fact that the lower parts of the trees have a closer
proximity to the soil surface. In this location the organic matter content of the top layer of soil is
relatively high due to seasonal tree leaves deposition of perennial trees and a good cover of grass
surface, this creates a higher moisture retention of top soil therefore lower parts of the trees get more

testing session, where I test the gymnasts in my classes to see if they are ready to move up to the next

accelerate to the next level and refused the request. Christi informed me that this was a matter of
moving her up or losing business, after all the girl was a lot older than her classmates and would fit in

coach I like to believe I know what is best for my students; however, as a business woman, I need to
do what is best for the company. To any future students who would like to participate in the internship
program, go for it! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. My best advice would be to find a

The Minority Report by Spielberg is about a one man conspiracy to keep pre crime up and running. In
the book by Dick, there is a larger conspiracy to destroy precrime. The final results are opposite as
well; in the book precrime was maintained and still operational. In the movie, precrime was shut down
and destroyed. The methods of precrime are also different. In the book, there are three precogs which
mutter an indecipherable language, which a machine interprets into images of a murder. Then a card
comes out of the machine with the name of the killer and name of the victim on it. Spielberg made a
more modern method out of this. In the movie, images are taken directly from the three precogs brain
and then interpreted by a person who tries to find out the location of the murder. Also there are two
wooden balls made, one with the name of the killer and the other with the name of the victim, on
them. The movie also goes deeper into the creation of precrime, how crack babies whom had an odd
gift/curse of dreaming of murder became used to prevent murder. It also shows why Anderton joined
precrime, to make sure no one else would suffer like he did when he lost his son. The precogs in the

Upon entering the Hall of Gems and Mineral, you are plunged into the deep recesses of space where
meteorites, the gems of space, rule. The roof of the Moon, Meteorites, and the Solar System gallery
section was painted pitch black like the night sky. Along the roof, there were lights on tracks so that
they could be moved to highlight specific pieces in the exhibit. These lights also seem to represent
stars in the night sky, because they were bright, you could see them, but they were out of reach. The
lights on the roof of this section that were pointing to meteors had shades over them, I believe this was

The entrance for that gallery was interesting. It was a giant 3d rendering of the earth. The entrance was
cut through the rendering creating the illusion of visitors entering the earth. Since the section discusses
what goes on within the earth I thought that the opening was fitting. There were a great deal of
