Wainwright Architecture
After the industrial revolution, the development of frame construction, invention of elevator, and rise
of office work made the emergence of skyscraper an inevitable product of social and technological
forces, predominantly in the American cities of New York and Chicago. This marked a significant
transform of architecture style from classical to modern. With the conversion of design concept to be
more utilitarian, less classical ornamentations were incorporated in the design of early skyscrapers like
those of most of the medieval architectures had did. However, the Wainwright building must be an
exception and meanwhile an outstanding example of architectural innovations about functional
aestheticism. Its Steel skeleton structure was cladded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Terra Cotta, an Italian words meaning baked earth , is a durable, flexible, and fireproof building
material that made of clay. One of its largest advantages is that no matter how intricate design
patterns, it can be casted into any applicable shapes. The modeling task is much easier and can be
reusable compared with other casting materials, especially with a limited range of modeling tools.
Small details that was hard to be achieved in the stone carving can be accomplished easily in the
malleable material, and once burned under a high temperature, terra cotta will harden and make it
shapes like strong masonry(but comparatively lightweight and cheap in cost). Since its versatile
characteristics, terra cotta became a favorite material of Sullivan when designing the ornamentation
part of the Wainwright building, and such delicate task will be never executed by using other

Sistema De Casta
Casta was a hierarchical system of race classification created by Spanish elites in Hispanic America
during the 18th century. These Castas were created for and by the Spanish elites, solely for the
purpose of showing the massive inequality in the area. The Sistema de Castas was used in 17th and
18th centuries in Spanish America and Spanish Philippines to describe and socially rank the mixed
race people who were born during the post conquest period. In the 18th century Casta paintings were
used to show a myriad of possible ethnic combinations. There were basic Castas, but countless
intermediate kinds were produced from the mixing of existing mixtures. Casta paintings help
normalize miscegenation (racial mixing) which was generally discouraged ... Show more content on

The black boy seems to be the offspring of these two individuals which shows that intermingling was
common. They also seem to be in Europe due to the European influences seen throughout the photo,
such as the outfits the men are wearing. In Casta painting number 5, Jose Alcibar shows a black man
wearing a black European styled hat along with a red European style jacket and matching breeches. In
the photo, he is seen holding a Morisca woman s hand. Morisca s were former Muslims who
converted to Christianity after Spain outlawed the public practice of Islam. Morisca s are also 1/8th
African and 7/8th Spanish. The Spanish (Morisca) woman is wearing a dress that is made of a
stunning brocade with a hem that is surrounded by gold. Also, the woman s dress has a large hoop.
Moving along to the right side of the photo you can see the Mullato boy riding a goat. The concept
behind the Black man holding the Spanish ladies hand is to show that they are a couple whom
produced a mixed child that is half black and half white (Mullato). They seemed to be pictured in a
European style environment, due to the fact that Moriscos were prominent in Europe. A situation like
this would not be common in the colonial era. In fact, it would be very rare to see such mixing of races
being painted. This shows the mixing of races were starting to be seen as a norm. In Casta painting
number 10 it shows an Indian male riding a horse, whom seems to be wearing

Critical Analysis The Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner
A Doomed Fate A Critical Analysis of Three Messages in Randall Jarrell s, Gunner Douglas
MacArthur, an American general during World War II, described those who fight in war as, The
soldier, above all others, prays for peace; for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest
wounds and scars of war. Throughout history, war has been a part of every nation. From medieval
times to present day, there have been a countless number of wars fought and even more human lives
lost. Many short stories and poems have been written about the hard times of war, but none have been
quite as inspirational as Randall Jarrell s, The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner. This five line poem
described what it was like to be a ball turret gunner during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These men, such as the ball turret gunners, were of the most brave and fearless men to serve for the
United States. Often, a person would think that no one would wish to be tasked with the mission of
being a ball turret gunner; however, according to the article, How to Become a Ball Turret Gunner and
Dr. Tim McGee, the waiting list to become a ball turret gunner was the longest in World War II. The
article states, The men who served as gunners in World War II understood the dangers of the job they
were signing themselves up for (David Sears). These men knew that they would be facing certain
death if they chose to take position on the belly of an American army plane. Jarrell writes, Six miles
from earth, loosed from its dream of life... (3). No man who signed up for this horrendous job
expected to live more than three air trips. This just goes to prove how crucial it is to appreciate those
who are willing to risk their lives just so others do not have to suffer. The last, and possibly most
heartbreaking message in, The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner, is that no one is guaranteed a life on
this earth tomorrow. During hard war times, such as World War II, thousands of young soldiers are
called upon to fight for their nation whether or not they believe in what they re fighting for. While
some were deathly afraid to serve during the war,

Breakdancing Research Papers
It started, some say, back in 1969 with James Brown releasing Get on the Good Foot. The physical
panache with which Brown performed inspired fans to develop imitations. What started out as a
street/club dance called The Good Foot rapidly spawned a whole genre called b boy dance, aka break
boy, aka breakdance. (Mackrell, Judith). Mackrell also mentions that in the Bronx ghettos of New
York, organized rival gangs or crews to compete in dance combats. The early phase of b boy was
dominated by kung Fu style kicks, punches, and lunges, mixed with rocking shifts of balance between
hands and feet. The more adventurous dancer s perfected aerodynamic spins balanced on their heads
or shoulders. In the early 1970s, the craze spread to the west coast ... Show more content on

This confusion of terminology caused a great problematic in the language of hip hop dance for two
reasons. The first problematic reason is that breakdancing became an inadvertent umbrella term
among the public for both breaking and the funk styles. The style of funk in hip hop was created in
California independent from breaking, which was created in New York. According to Central Home,
its article Hip Hop Dance it states, Across the United States from the Boogie Down Bronx, New York
to the Beat Street corners of Compton, California, young people everywhere took to this new style of
dancing that included such feats as breaking, popping, locking, gliding, ticking, vibrating and
krumping. In the earlier days, some hip hop dance moves such as the Humpty Dance were made
popular by hip hop artists who had created the songs from which these dances were derived. This style
of dance is call funk styles because it was when originally dance to funk music. This name gives them
a separate identity from breaking, which is traditional danced to break beats. The second reason this
was problematic is that breakdancing was originally called b boying or breaking by the street dancers
who created it. A break is a musical interlude during a song the section on a musical recording where
the singing stops and the percussive rhythms are the most aggressive. In the early 1970s, DJs played
break beats, dancers reacted to those breaks with their most impressive dance moves. DJ Kool Herc

The Increasing Need for Urban Planning
1. Introduction Quantitative urban studies are becoming increasingly important for planners knowing
that in the year 2015 more than half the global population will be residing in cities [1]. Suitable urban
planning ought to be a top priority for future development but unfortunately sound planning has not
taken place especially in many African cities as heavy rural urban migration continues to cause cities
to expand at uncontrollable rates [2]. As a consequence, the urban population in Africa is increasing at
a much faster rate than in the rest of the world, contributing to the augmentation of the existing
problems such as unsuitable land use [3]. The concentration of population in cities comprises as much
as 60% of the total population in most countries. In these immense urban settlements the
environmental and social consequences are sometimes disastrous [4]. Large cities in Africa such as
Nakuru have experienced a fast growth rate of 13.3% between 1990 and 2006 [5]. The magnification
has been attributed to a number of factors, mainly the aperture of the new Naivasha Nakuru road,
which links the megacity of Nairobi. Post election violence is verbally expressed to be one of the
contributing factors, since many displaced people from neighboring towns migrated to Nakuru as a
safe shelter. The main consequences in these African cities include; urban sprawl, unsuitable land use,
inadequate transportation systems, air and water pollution, depletion of natural resources,

Scapular Muscle Rehabilitation
Introduction In regards to mobility, the glenohumeral (GH) joint is one of the best the human body has
to offer. It allows for the range of motion needed for the activities of daily living that we have all
grown accustomed to. In order to execute these motions, however, the shoulder joint needs a stable
base of support. This is one of the primary roles of the scapula and its surrounding musculature. When
the GH joint is injured, however, scapular muscle activation, and therefore stability and function, is
theoretically altered. Many shoulder rehabilitation programs focus on restoring proper coordination of
these muscles, especially those involved with scapular upward rotation. Until recently, however, there
has not been much research supporting the relationship between muscle activation ratios and shoulder
injuries, nor the ability to preferentially activate scapular muscles using rehabilitation exercises.
Furthermore, the purpose of this study was to determine if there are differences in muscle activation
ratios between healthy individuals and those with GH injuries, as well as evaluate muscle activation
during particular rehabilitation exercises (Moeller, Huxel Bliven, Snyder Valier, 2014).

trapezius (UT), middle trapezius (MT), and lower trapezius (LT). These values were used to calculate
ratios of muscle activation (Moeller, Huxel Bliven, Snyder Valier,

Significance Of The Magna Carta
The Magna Carta was a very influential document that helped to established for the first time the
principle that everybody, including the King, was subject to the law. The rule of law is a concept
fundamental to democratic forms of government and asserts that all, including leaders, must abide by
the laws of the nation. While the Magna Carta does not specifically state that the King is subject to the
rule of law, the document establishes that principle by imposing limits on the King s power. In 1215,
the Magna Carta was a peace treaty between King John and the Barons. First drafted by the
Archbishop of Canterbury to make peace between the unpopular King and rebel Barons, it promised
the protection of church rights, protection for the Barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift
justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown, which was set to be implemented through a
council of 25 Barons. Neither side stood behind their commitments, and the charter was annulled by
Pope Innocent III, leading to the First Barons War. In retrospect it was a failure, but it provided a new
framework for the relationship between the King and his subjects. After King John s death, his son
Henry III, reissued the document in 1216, stripping some of its more radical content, in an
unsuccessful bid to build political support for the new government. At the end of the war in 1217, it
formed part of the peace treaty agreed at Lambeth, where the document acquired the name Magna

Hiroshima By John Hersey
Hiroshima by John Hersey was written to give insight into the lives of survivors on that horrific day
during August in 1945. Hersey informed me of the happenings surrounding the dropping of the atomic
bomb. The book both shocked and informed me with its vivid details and accuracy. Throughout my
reading of Hiroshima, I found myself continuously shocked at the extreme detail Hersey included. The
book begins at exactly fifteen minutes past eight in the morning, on August 6, 1945 , (1) with great
detailing of the six main character s lives. Some were had just sat down at her place in the plant
office...at that same moment [another] was settling down cross legged to read...on the porch of his
private hospital, overhanging once of the seven deltaic rivers which divide Hiroshima. (1) Not only
am I being told about these people s day, but I am also getting a feel for the setting and the city itself.
Hersey built a picture of the time before the bomb hit in my mind, and I could not love it more. The
first instance of extreme detail where I found myself completely affected was when Mr. Tanimoto ran
across about twenty men...in exactly the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the people of Hiroshima remained more or less indifferent about the ethics of using the bomb. (89)
When I read that, I was completely blown away. To have your entire city and lives literally erased is
devastating, yet a majority those victims were indifferent! I found it very interesting that many just

Maximilien Robespierre, Gandhi, And The Reign Of Terror
The French Revolution and Indian Revolution were important events that changed the course of
history. The influence between these two revolutions was mainly because of the leaders behind it all;
Maximilien Robespierre and Mahatmas Gandhi. Maximilien Robespierre was the most influential
person during the French Revolution. Robespierre came into power during the Reign of Terror and he
executed many who he thought were against the revolution which lead him to be known as the Savior
of the Revolution and also, the Tyrant of the Revolution. Just like Robespierre, Gandhi was a
prominent leader during the Indian Revolution. Gandhi led a peaceful civil disobedience campaign
which got India its independence. However, unlike Robespierre, Mahatmas Gandhi ... Show more

Robespierre believed that there should be no social class between French citizens and everyone should

should become one nation where Hindus and Muslims would get along. In this way these two men
were similar but when it came to accomplishing the goal they set out for their country, their ways were
very different. Robespierre set out to get equal rights with violence and threats. He would hang anyone
who was against the revolution, but not only that, Robespierre craved the power and attention he was
getting as the known leader of the French Revolution. He went so far as setting a law saying no one
was to have a religion and said himself to be God. Gandhi however, handled his situation in a
completely different manner. He continuously persisted on having a non violent protest against the
British, saying it would only cause more lives to be lost. Gandhi also wanted Hindus and Muslims to
put their differences aside and see how they are alike and how they worship the same God. Although
Robespierre and Gandhi had goals to change their nations, both did not succeed in doing so; France is
still ruled by a monarch and India is divided into three different

combined? Well there is and it is called the platypus. It has the bill of a duck, the tail of a beaver,
webbed feet also like a duck, and the body and fur of an otter. This species has an amazing food and
nutrition balance, habitat, and many interesting other facts. Platypuses nutrition and diet is very
interesting. They are carnivores which means they feed on flesh. These mutant otters hunt and search
for food for 12 hours everyday! Their diet consists mainly of shrimp, crayfish, insect larvae and
worms. The platypus s habitat is amazing. They mostly live in freshwater lakes, rivers, lagoons, farm
dams, and streams. These interesting creatures homes are found in bodies of water that have earth

Self Assessment IIi And Vi
Self Assessment III and VI In self Assessment III the first sections talks about what type of
organizational system I would prefer. Organizational Structure is a system that defines the levels of
hierarchy within an organization. The organizational structure classifies each job, explains its function,
and who it reports to within the organization. Based on my scores they suggest I prefer to work in a
mechanistic structure rather than a organic structure. In a mechanistic structure people work separately
and specialize on only one task. Also within a mechanistic the hierarchy of authority is well defined.
The first section also measures my ability to delegate in the work place. According to my score I need
to substantial improve on my ability to delegate. Based on the analysis delegating authority are what
many managers have difficult doing. My ratio for being able to give feedback is a four out four. This
means my self perceived strength and weakness are equal, but I could work to improve ratio to be
more self perceived in strength. In the section labeled careers it indicates that I my preferred
organizational culture that informal, humanistic, flexible, and innovative culture. These traits fall
under humanistic culture even thought my other score suggested I prefer a mechanistic structure. It
also indicates that I m not that committed to my job since my score falls below the mean. This is ok

Theodore Beza And The Protestant Reformation
Theodore Beza was a prominent figure in the Protestant Reformation who is often left out of the
discussion of most important reformers at the time. To begin with, Beza s rise to distinction in the
French Reformed movement was sparked so quickly to the point that he must be observed as John
Calvin s coworker and friend rather than his successor (Steinmetz 114). The two companions often
relied upon each other for advice to increase their knowledge and flourish in theology (Wolfe 230).
His time with Calvin included a large amount of his spiritual growth and work, and continued to thrive
for a little over forty years after Calvin s time (Birth Pangs). Beza cannot be ignored from the face of
the Protestant Reformation and his influence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beza s position and theological ideas did not come without criticism. Early in his career, slanders
arose in his own lifetime from Roman Catholic opponents who trembled at the power of his pen
(Hanko). Modernly, Calvinists charged Beza with corrupting Calvin s teachings with new twists in
which Calvin would have repudiated, especially his point of view on predestination and atonement of
Christ (Hanko). It is pertained that these accusations may be more serious that many reformers in the
seventeenth century gained knowledge from Beza instead of Calvin and that pure Calvinism has
diminished over time (Hanko).
The differences between Calvin and his successor did not stop there. When Calvin was teaching, he
allowed the doctrine of election qualify for the doctrine of the atonement (Steinmetz 118). Beza had
his own logical consistency in the argument that believed that Christ died only for the elect (Steinmetz
118). Another important difference to face is their views on the doctrine of justification. Calvin
regarded this doctrine as both forgiveness of sins for the sake of Christ and as imputation (Steinmetz
118). However, Beza observed this as the active and passive obedience of Christ, an idea he obtained
from the Lutheran theologian Flacius (Steinmetz 118). Active obedience refers Christ s whole life of
choosing and performing the will of God as an obedient Son in his Father s house. Passive obedience
refers to Christ s willing submission to death on the

Why Women Were At Qumran
Whether women were at Qumran or not is a question many scholars disagree about. A well known
trend indicates that there were no women at Qumran, but that the Qumran settlement consisted of
celibate males and the presence of women in the cemetery found by the site of Qumran has been
argued against being from Qumran at second temple period. The most accepted hypothesis concerning
the identity of the people at Qumran connects three factors: the site itself at Qumran on the shore of
the Dead Sea, the dead sea scrolls discovered in the nearby caves, and the Essene population who
were believed to have occupied Qumran. From the descriptions of three well known historians; Pliny,
Josephus and Philo, all three describe the Essenes as a group of ascetics. Pliny even notes that their
dwelling place is on the western shore of the Dead Sea and they live there in splendid isolation with
neither property nor women. Pliny s description constituted one of the most important elements in the
identification of the Qumran site as the Essenes dwelling, and both the material and archaeological
artifacts were interpreted according to this theory. There are various endeavors made by researchers to
accommodate the records of Josephus, Pliny, and Philo in which the Essenes were abstinent. Using
Josephus record of wedded Essenes, the accompanying is submitted: Concerning sequence: 1) De

Nuclear Bomb Persuasive Essay
It is an ordinary Monday morning in New York City and you wake up to begin your day. Emergency
alarms suddenly fill the air and you rush outside to see what could possibly be happening. Your
neighbors are packing their cars and fleeing in a panic; you then hurry back inside to watch the news.
The emergency broadcast system appears on the screen and informs you that nuclear missiles have
been launched at the United States one of which is headed to your city. Reality strikes you as you
realize that there is nothing you can do except await the impending death and destruction that is
headed your way. The following was a possible scenario that could happen to a world with nuclear
weapons. The possibility of nuclear war could be eliminated with the disarmament of nuclear
weapons. In 1945, the first nuclear bomb was deployed over Hiroshima, Japan claiming 90,000 lives.

Women s Influence On Women
Women s fashion has been tremendously changing throughout the history. Women belonging from
different ethnic group had different fashion, even the women belonging from same ethnic group
followed different fashion depending on their race, cast, status or religion. Different clothing styles
have impacted the women in different ways; in different eras the character of women has been
determined by their clothing style. Similarly, clothing patterns of women in United States kept
changing throughout the time. Fashion has been reformed throughout the ages. Change in fashion has
reshaped the personalities of women. Particularly in nineteenth century, fashion played a significant
role in enforcing the existing definition of femininity, it had a notable effect on women s health;
however, the reformation of the fashion redefined femininity.
In the early nineteenth century, the prevailing definition of femininity was enforced by the way
women used to dress up. According to Torrens (1999), the ideal characteristics of women were to be
submissive, pious, home oriented, and pure which were restricted by and enforced by different means
of fashion. Women s body became a main point to maintain the ideology of feminism. Cultural
definition of feminism reduced the opportunities for women to work outside the home. The
disturbance in everyday life, which was created when the women used to work in war industry, and
the belief system of United States made the women caretaker of home, since the

Sentimentalism In The 1800 s
At this point in time, women were thought to be have belonged in the home and were inferior to men
due to it just being the cultural norm. That was just the way of life and how it had always been.
Sentimentalism came to the American society around the 1800 s. This then lead away from arranged
marriages and gave men and women free will of marriage based off of feelings, attraction and
affection. Companionate marriages were thought to have given men and women equality in the
marriage, but in reality husbands still continued to dominate the marriage because male authority was
deeply ingrained in cultural mores and according to Abigail Adams complained, husbands had
sovereign authority over the family s property (Henretta, 2012). During

Argumentative Essay On Human Trafficking
Many forms of modern day slavery still exist. The most popular form is human trafficking and it has
become one of the most profitable businesses in the world. Overall human trafficking is a problem
worldwide, and there are millions of men, woman, and children around who are victims of it (Piranty,
Human). They are bought and sold as commodities into prostitution and forced labor. Many victims are
sometimes tricked and lured by false promises or physically forced into this trade. Human trafficking
that ends with teens in sexual slavery is on the rise in South Florida, according to Sun Sentinel, every
family regardless of income, education, or location could become a victim (Sun Sentinel). Human
trafficking is a growing epidemic destroying communities all over the state of Florida by depriving an
individual of his or her natural right to freedom of will and choice, expanding gang activity, and
robbing the innocence of the world s youth, but in turn we could put an end to it.
According to CNN Freedom project, slavery occurs when one person completely controls another
person, using violence or the threat of violence to maintain that control (Bryfonski, 2013). By taking
away an individual s freedom and rights that go along with it, you are denying them their freedoms
based on the United States Constitution. Being that trafficking is constructed on the mistreatment of
individuals, all victims of trafficking may suffer from physical and psychological issues (Human

Symbolism In The Scarlet Letter. Symbolism Is The Use Of
Symbolism in The Scarlet Letter
Symbolism is the use of an object, character, or event to represent something else. Nathaniel
Hawthorne, without a doubt, uses symbolism throughout the course of the novel, The Scarlet Letter.
The novel takes place in a Puritan community in present day Boston. Hester Prynne, Arthur
Dimmesdale, Roger Chillingworth, and Pearl are the main characters. They all have major roles and
without them, the novel would not be the same. Hester Prynne; married to Roger Chillingworth, had a
baby named Pearl out of wedlock with a man named Dimmesdale. Because Hester was married,
herself and Dimmesdale have now committed adultery and that is the main cause of a lot of the major
events that take place in the novel.

Since everyone knew about Hester and her transgression, she was treated as an outcast by most which
is where the lifetime of humiliation comes in. For instance, Hawthorne stated that people saw Hester
as the reality of sin and woman s frailty (Hawthorne 88). Innocent minded children began to think
poorly of Hester because of what their parents told them about her. Hester helped the poor, and instead
of treating Hester with respect and kindness, they treated her crudely and disrespectfully. Clergymen
stop Hester in the streets and use her as a sermon. Puritan women who believe that Hester should have
received a harsher punishment, give Hester vulgar gestures and make impolite remarks. In spite of the
poor treatment and loneliness, Hester stayed content and just turned the other cheek. She was focused
on her needlework and on Pearl. Hester was even limited in her needlework, she could not embroider
the white veil in which a bride wears on her wedding day. This is because of the, ever relentless vigor
with which society frowned upon her sin (Hawthorne 92). With all of the harsh treatment and
separation from society, this is why for Hester, the scarlet letter A not only stands for adultery, but also
as a lifetime of humiliation.
Now that Hester and her perception of the A has been discussed, her partner in crime Arthur
Dimmesdale must now be

This essay seeks to analyze Nike s recent equality campaign commercial that was released in February
2017. Nike, the American sports brand giant who makes up 31% of the athletic footwear market
(Keady, 2011), has been noted for creating political statements alongside the consumer goods that they
produce. As seen in the short black and white filmed advertisement, famous American athletes Lebron
James, Megan Rapinoe, Kevin Durant, and Serena Williams are depicted standing up against social
inequalities experienced by racial minorities and other marginalized groups; other marginalized
groups include those such as the LGBT community as represented by soccer star Megan Rapinoe. The
basic idea behind the piece is to illustrate that if equality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As seen with the Nike equality campaign commercial, Nike is calling for those who buy their products
to almost break through the current social boundaries and to move past these lines. The quote of
moving past these lines aids in furthering the post Fordist concept of uniqueness as it almost
encourages one to think outside the box and to be different by going against societal limitations and
norms while in hopes of striving for equality; it gives a sense of inspiration to those who witness the
commercial. Nike is commanding for not only their consumer base, but all those who view this ad to
be active in fighting for equality for all races and other minority groups. Nike believes this idea starts
with you, and not by those who are atop the social hierarchy like those in governmental positions;
taking a bottom to top approach. This idea exemplified by Nike gives the consumer a stronger feeling
of empowerment within the world in which they live. The idea of individual self control and power is
further highlighted through the quote by the narrator, Michael B. Jordan, who states here you re
defined by your actions. In this instance, each individual in society is considered for being responsible
for change. Nike s willingness of taking into account the various people who make up society is

Nicole Skylar Cavazos! Yelled my mom, Heather. I just knew that I was in a heap of trouble with my

purple violet chair in my clean room, looking out of the window at the hot and dusty plains covered in
dead sandy sad colored grass, and the few little umbrella looking trees with a dark color green wavy

Very few people have ever met a queen in their life. Even fewer know a queen on a personal level.
Fortunately, I have been blessed to be one of those people. Actually, she isn t a queen; she is my best

woman who will not only take the shirt off her back to give to you, but teach you to sew one for

It required trusting God with abandon. At age 42, she became pregnant with her last child, a girl
named Lilly Noelle Boyett. Vicky was worried that she would be too old to raise another child, not to
mention that her oldest daughter and her husband were pregnant at nearly the same time. Mrs. Boyett
put her faith in God with everything for this child. Even for little things such as potty training, Vicky
prayed that the Lord would empower her, and He has. Lilly has been one of the easier children to rear.
However, Lilly was also the youngest child to help Mrs. Vicky in one of, if not the hardest, trial in her
life. Humans do not always understand the ways of the Lord or his plans. Still, God requires trust from
his believers. Ronnie Dean Boyett died on April 1, 2013. Vicky became not only a young widow at 54,
but a single mother to their 2 children who were still living in the house. To Mrs. Boyett, God became
her comfort. Ronnie s death was expected as he was becoming sick a year prior to his death.
Nevertheless, as is every loss, it was painful for the Boyett family to endure. Even through the dark
days and the valley, Vicky s faith in God helped her move forward and conquered every situation she
faced. Mrs. Boyett is a joy to know because of her kindness. Her faith has a large influence on her
personality and has shaped her to be the woman she is today. Though

Personal Leadership Application Examples
1. Defining leadership is a challenging assignment due to the many elements that leadership
encompasses. Leadership is inspiring others to be better. It is recognizing the strengths and
weaknesses in not only one s self but that of others. Understanding that leadership is not perfect and is
always evolving.
2. One of the same characteristics that came up for the leadership influences that I have experienced in
my career is support whether it is personal or professional support. An example of the support I
received in regards to my family, when I was stationed at District Nine Office of Law of Enforcement

meeting with the higher ups and this coming up as a topic and how they did not believe that I should
be using the RAZ token and it is not the use it was intended for, and he his response was this is exactly
what it is intended for to work from home regardless of the reason. Having the support not only from
CDR Smith but also later from my Chief during those hard times made it easier for me to focus on
work and not worry about home. Many of the leaders that I have had were very competent within the
rate and supported me with regulations and procedures when I would get pushback on certain
processes I had put in place. Support is a huge factor when I look at people who have influenced me in
leadership.

The Music That Transformed a Hidden Classic into Modern Culture Le Fantôme de l Opéra, a

Paris Opera House in the late 1800s (Cox: Oxford Reference). An adventure, involving tragic love and

The detective acts as the narrator who reflects on his investigations of the Paris Opera House through

She argues that adaptations are a continuous development of culture and that with adaptations, we
seem to desire the repetition as much as the change ; however, she argues that a work is transformed
(Hutcheon 9). Her valuable points about the rationale of adaptation work is the underlying argument
in the continuation of making original works more valuable and in The Phantom of the Opera, music
does just that. When the musical was adapted from the novel, it heavily maintained the idea that music
was the central theme within the novel s allusions and metaphors. Music is an emotionally charged
realm and can evoke the most powerful of emotions if done well. The original text of the novel is
merely highlighted with the use of the composed soundtrack by Webber. Webber s adaptation of The
Phantom of the Opera is one of the most ideal examples of this phenomenal skill of leaving an original
story completely rendered into a product seeping with art. It is important to note when referencing
adaptations that the first definition that appears when one looks up adaptation into the Oxford
Reference dictionary are a variety of definitions that range from just about everything from an
adaptation of a book to an adaptation of a recipe. This being noted, one can assume that an adaptation
is any sort of adjustment to an original piece of work. However, Hutcheon references Walter

There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter.
All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All in all.

Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal.
Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness.

problem is that there are also a significant number of reasons to purchase a camping instead of a tent.

Don t Ban Photos Of Skinny Models
In the article Don t Ban Photos of Skinny Models , by Vanessa Friedman; who is the chief fashion
critic for the New York Times. In Friedman s article she is talking about how she doesn t want to ban
certain photos or ads of skinny models because she thinks it is wrong to say or think a skinny or thin
women s body is unhealthy by upright looking at her appearance. The purpose is that how she doesn t
want to ban certain photos or ads of skinny models because she thinks it s unnecessary to just create a
nonsense situation and also because people are just judging a skinny or slim body that may be healthy
or unhealthy. In this case the audience, most likely women disagree with Friedman because they think
they should ban photos or ads because they are unrealistic to them. Since the intended audience is
mainly women or teenagers, they have much more knowledge about why they should ban certain
photos and ads. For example, in the article where it said And then there s the 2016 Pirelli calender,
photography by Annie Leibovitz, which broke with tradition by showcasing a dozen women of

In his theory, enrollment, attendance, institution type, and student behaviors that influence student
involvement in the institution are also assumed to impact students feelings of membership and
participation in institutional life. Thus, the level of participation influences students decisions to stay
enrolled and attain a degree, to transfer to another institution, or to discontinue enrolment in
postsecondary education which he termed as student departure (Christie, 2002). Vincent Tinto
identifies three major sources of student departure: academic difficulties, the inability of individuals to
resolve their educational and occupational goals, and their failure to become or remain incorporated in
the intellectual and social life of the institution. Moreover, the change in support systems is also
related to integration into the campus system. The theory contends that given students demographic
characteristics and their pre entry intentions, goals, and commitments, the decision to persist is a
function of the extent to which the student has become academically and socially integrated into the

experience at the institution is negative which affects the decision to withdraw and exit from the
institution. This theory, in relation to single parents in college institutions, contends that there is a need

Essay about Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
The cardiovascular system is the most important system in our body. This system is what keeps us
alive. Beating on average 30 billion times a year, our heart is never able to stop and take a break. With
every beat of our heart, the cardiovascular system moves blood, gases, nutrients, and hormones
throughout the intricate vasculature of our bodies. An adult body contains over 60,000 miles of
vessels, which can wrap around the world two and a half times. The vessel branching off of the heart
is largest artery in our body and is known as the aorta. The aorta supplies oxygenated blood to our

Elastic tissue is very strong. The adventitia is the outermost layer. It is made of collagen and nourishes
the wall with vasa vasorum.
An aneurysm is a widening or ballooning of a vessel. It is caused by weakness in the aortic wall. In
the aortic wall, the media is mostly affected because it is the thickest. There are instances where
dilation of the wall can occur, but to the outermost layer and this is not a typical aneurysm. It is known
as a false aneurysm or a pseudoaneurysm. When the outermost layer is dilated, often times the inner or
medial wall will rupture, but the outer wall will still be intact. The extracellular matrix proteins
degenerate and the inflammatory T cells are present. The collagen and elastin dissolve and disintegrate
which will lead to an expansion of the aortic wall. If the pressure in the vessel is too great, the aortic
wall will rupture. An abdominal aortic aneurysm is a ballooning or dilating of the abdominal aorta. An
aneurysm is diagnosed when the diameter of the vessel is greater than 50% of its original diameter.
The aorta is normally two centimeters in diameter at the level or the renal arteries. An aneurysm is
named based off of their location, size and shape. An aneurysm will affect how the vessel is shaped,
therefore causing the blood flow to alter. When an aneurysm is symmetrical on both sides of the aortic
wall it is called fusiform; but if only one side of the wall is dilated, it is saccular. Aneurysms

The country of Afghanistan is small, rugged, and landlocked, situated between the present day
countries of Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Iran. It is approximately 252,000
square miles (652,000 square kilometers) in area, roughly the equivalent to the state of Texas.[1]
Historically, Afghanistan s strategic location at the crossroads of Asia has made the country the focal
point of many imperialist ambitions and, throughout its history, the country has been subject to
recurrent invasion and outside occupation.[2]
The last century of Afghanistan s history, has, in fact, been characterized, and replete with occupation
by outside forces, all trying to wield their power within it. The country has become the arena where
incessant jockeying for a secure foothold in, and influence over the region has played itself out.
From the period beginning in the 1820s and ending in 1919, Afghanistan was the unfortunate victim of
the competing imperialist ambitions of Great Britain and Tsarist Russia.[3] Viewing Afghanistan as a

Homelessness And The Homeless Youth
Homelessness is a major problem in the United States. An incredibly vulnerable group is the homeless
youth due to their young age and lack of education. According to Edidin, Ganim, Hunter, Karnik
(2012) on any particular night in the United States there are ~2 million homeless youth living on the
streets, in shelters, or in other temporary accommodation. Youth become homeless for multiple
reasons whether it be because they have aged out of foster care, ran from home, were kicked out of
their home, or because they have become homeless along with their family members. Within the
umbrella categorization of homeless youth there are high at risk subgroups, common misconceptions,
and a serious concern of lack of support and medical services. Homeless youth face an abundance of
challenges, especially if they are on their own, such as finding food, shelter, income, and potential
medical expenses. Some youth experience additional hardship by facing the effects of abuse they
endured at their previous place of residence. According to the National Conference of State
Legislators (2013) 46 percent of runaway and homeless youth reported physical abuse, 38 percent
reported emotional abuse, and 17 percent reported being forced into unwanted sexual activity by a
family or household member. Therefore, the chances of emotional vulnerability are high. A common
misconception of homeless youth is that even if they do become homeless they are not homeless for
long. The National Alliance to End

IS3220 Project Network Survey Chris Wig Essay
IS3220 Project Network Survey Chris Wiginton, Jose Rosado ITT Technical Institute, Tampa FL
Instructor: Sherman Moody 10 October, 2014 Besides the basic physical security of a site, the next
most important aspect is controlling digital access into and out of the organization s network. In most
cases this means controlling the points of connectivity to the outside world, typically the Internet.
Partitioning the boundary between the outside Internet and the internal intranet is a critical security
piece. Any services not actually needed should be turned off so that they will not become avenues of
attack for security threats. Different systems will have different services running by default. The

UPnP Internet servers were found to have remotely exploitable unchecked buffers that would allow, in
principle, remote malicious hackers. Microsoft Windows is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by
improper bounds checking by the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) service. By sending a specially
crafted HTTP request, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the
system with elevated privileges when combined with another exploit. Unused Internet servers and
services should not be left running if they are not actively needed, for this reason this port should be
closed until needed. Port 5357: This port is opened because you have Network Discovery enabled in a
Public Network profile. The port is vulnerable to info leak problems allowing it to be accessed
remotely by malicious authors. This port should be closed if network discovery is not required. Port

associated and used. Port 7435: This port is not associated with any particular services and should be
closed unless it is associated and used. Port 9100: This TCP port is used for printing. Port numbers
9101 and 9102 are for parallel ports 2 and 3 on the three port HP Jetdirect external print servers. It is
used for network connected print devices. This port should remain open to allow print services. Ports

How Does Henry Fleming Fantasize In The Red Badge Of Courage
A War of Wounds War, a terrifying and dangerous word in today s society; most are fought over oil
and terrorism in foreign countries half a world away. However, in the 1860 s Americans are fighting a
civil war for their beliefs, and more importantly, glory. At least, that is what Henry Fleming fantasizes
when he gets ready for his first battle in The Red Badge of Courage (Published by Bantam Classics,
copyright 2004). The protagonist soon realizes the danger he has placed himself into after getting
bombarded with cannonballs and bullets. He struggles to maintain his pride after running away from
the unnamed battlefield and faking an injury. Author Stephen Crane illustrates wounds as either a
heroic medal of honor or a disgusting mark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After realizing the mistake he made, Henry makes his way to the battlefield where he asks a fellow
soldier why they are losing. The soldier hits Fleming in the head with the butt of his rifle and knocks
him unconscious. He later awakens and clumsily makes his way back to his regiment camp. When the
guards ask him how he has gotten injured the private replies that he was shot in the head. The narrator
explains, Gee, it must hurt like thunder? he said. The youth leaned heavily upon his friend. Yes, it
hurts hurts a good deal, he replied. There was a faltering in his voice. (74). Shame is observed in
Henry s voice when he takes a pause in his speech; the falter and words hurts a good deal shows how
Private Fleming feels guilty for lying about his injury, but finds it necessary in order not no be a
disgrace to the army. Deception and lies are abundant in most wars, and even though Union Soldiers
are supposed to be on the same side, lying occurs almost everywhere. Furthermore, most of the lies
pertain to if the injury is real or superficial. Wounds can represent shame and glory, but if a soldier
experiences to many wounds they can turn into a disgusting

A Career In Athletic Training
I m writing to tell you that I have finally made up my mind and chosen Athletic Training as my major
here at UND. I realize this probably sounds crazy, but be assured in the fact that I ve done my
homework and this career looks promising for me. Before you freak out, let me tell you about
everything I ve learned about this profession so far. Athletic Trainers by definition specialize in the
diagnosing and treating of muscle and bone injuries and illnesses. However, these individuals are
responsible for much more behind the scenes work than people realize. The profession can be broken
into five broad domains. The first one is injury and illness prevention and protection which includes
all of the precautions Athletic trainers put into the environment,

Food Stamps Argumentative Essay
Argumentative Essay In 2014, almost seventy billion dollars was spent on the food stamp program.
Some may say that s a significant amount of money compared to how much the United States owes in
debt. Therefore, there should be more restrictions on who qualifies to get food stamps, and also on
how long people can receive them. If people are unemployed, then they should have applied to at least
three different jobs before being able to apply for food stamps. If people do have a job, then of course
they must be making below poverty level to qualify. The only exceptions should be made to full time
high school, community college, or university students, or have been in the last six months. Students
should have applied to at least one job before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only reason for why a person receiving food stamps cannot pass a drug test, is because the drug
being used is for medical reasons only. If one must take the drug test and not pass, then a warning
shall be given, along with two extra drug tests given monthly. If the same person does not pass the
second time, food stamps should be cut by twenty percent; if they cannot pass the third test given,
stamps should be cut by an additional thirty percent. Finally, if the same person has failed four
consecutive drug test, or four within three months, food stamps should be cut out completely with a
four month penalty before reapplying. The last restriction that should be applied to food stamps is how
long you are able to continue receiving them. A student would be to receive stamps as long as they are
enrolled in school. A parent, or household with children, can receive food stamps for the child until
he/she has graduated, or turned eighteen if the child has dropped out of school. This prevents someone
from dropping out of high school, still living with a parent, and the parent receiving food stamps for a
twenty one year old. An adult with no children receiving food stamps should be able to reapply in six

Analysis Of The Book Red Bird
The book Red Bird has a series of poems written by Mary Oliver. She gives her perspective of the
world and the gifts the world gives up. Oliver captures moments from the transformation of a
capitllaar to some really dark bittersweet moments. Oliver is the true Anthologist because every poem
she wrote comes to life. Due to the references and each scenes Oliver tries to create she illustrates true
Eco Criticism. Oliver s illustration of Eco criticism relates to themes of love, sorrow, empowerment,
and laughter, which makes one reflect a certain way. As a result of how Oliver captured her works, she
makes one look at the world at a different perspective, and have a peerlessness for the world. Eco
criticism is the the genuine relationship that humans have with the environment. Eco criticism is
illustrated all through out in the poetry in Red Bird. Eco Criticism relates to themes of the poems in
Red Bird, because in each of the poems she gives her perspective of how and all humans should look
at the the natural world. One of the references to literary theory Eco criticism, is when Oliver shows
how she embraces nature in the beginning poem Red Bird to the last poem Red Bird explains Himself
. I consider Red Bird to be the start of her journey and Red Bird explains Himself to be the end. These
poems capture her journey in life, and how she looks the world from the beginning to the end. Life is a
rocky journey, with ups and downs. Oliver captures that with each

The Importance Of Business Etiquette
Business Etiquette has always been an important part of life, whether it be business or social. Within
the last decade it has grown and become more important than ever. Mainly because the business world
is becoming more global and having good business relationships is a must for success. Business
etiquette is vitally important for creating a harmonious work environment and for representing your
company in the best manner possible. (Fox, 2008). Professional etiquette is significant in building up
leadership, enhancing careers, and expanding business relationships. The impression created when
everyone displays good manners in any interaction, whether it be dining, interview, and workplace
etiquette is important for a variety of reasons. Without proper business etiquette, one limits one s
potential, risks one s image, and jeopardizes relationships that are fundamental to business success. It
helps people to understand what is appropriate in any situation.
Dining etiquette is the setting in which majority business deals are discussed and finalized. It is very
different than casual dining. Whenever business is conducted over dinner it is best to arrive 10
minutes early, have proper posture and to keep elbows off the table. Table manners play an important
part in making a favorable impression as well as nonverbal communication with your host or
interviewer; good eye contact and firm handshake. There are 2 different styles of dining; American
and Continental or European, each

Why I Am Watching Tv
Sixteen Years, Sixteen Days, and the Rest of my Life On August 12, 2014 I was watching TV in the
morning before heading over to my grandparents house for breakfast. The news was on with a
headline at the bottom of the screen which began with the word Ebola , but I could see was bola.
Every once in a while, a flash of the E would enter my vision, but it did not stay in there for more than
a second. Wondering what was going on I looked around the room, but nothing looked out of place,
the only problem with my vision was when I looked at the TV. After a short amount of time this
strange obstruction to my vision went away and as soon as my father and brother we went over to my
grandparents house. Every Tuesday, we would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our job for the day was to prune Fire Blight from some of the Ginger Gold apple trees. Just as I
walked up to the first tree, the pain in my head became unbearable. I told my father that it felt like I
was standing on top of my head. One option was to go to the Emergency Room, but I opted to go to
my regular doctor instead so my father made an appointment for me at ten o clock. When my father
called, he was instructed to give me some medicine to relieve my headache and to have me drink some
water. After taking some medicine and drinking some water, I went over to my grandmother s office
so she could keep an eye on my symptoms. Usually rest helps to relieve my headaches so I laid my
head down to rest, but doing so only made the pain worse. My father stopped in the office to check on
me before going back out to work when I told him that I could not wait until ten o clock. We went to
the ER, but before we left I began to feel nauseous. Once we arrived at the ER we signed in and we
were brought to a room where I was given some medicine to relieve my nausea. A nurse came in who
asked questions about how I was feeling or what symptoms I had had and came to the conclusion that
I had a migraine with aura, but just to be safe she decided to do a CT scan. After the CT scan the nurse
came back in to tell us that I had a cyst in my brain, but that that was normal for children about my
age. The nurse

  • 2. Wainwright Architecture After the industrial revolution, the development of frame construction, invention of elevator, and rise of office work made the emergence of skyscraper an inevitable product of social and technological forces, predominantly in the American cities of New York and Chicago. This marked a significant transform of architecture style from classical to modern. With the conversion of design concept to be more utilitarian, less classical ornamentations were incorporated in the design of early skyscrapers like those of most of the medieval architectures had did. However, the Wainwright building must be an exception and meanwhile an outstanding example of architectural innovations about functional aestheticism. Its Steel skeleton structure was cladded ... One of its largest advantages is that no matter how intricate design patterns, it can be casted into any applicable shapes. The modeling task is much easier and can be reusable compared with other casting materials, especially with a limited range of modeling tools. Small details that was hard to be achieved in the stone carving can be accomplished easily in the malleable material, and once burned under a high temperature, terra cotta will harden and make it shapes like strong masonry(but comparatively lightweight and cheap in cost). Since its versatile characteristics, terra cotta became a favorite material of Sullivan when designing the ornamentation part of the Wainwright building, and such delicate task will be never executed by using other ... • 3. Sistema De Casta Casta was a hierarchical system of race classification created by Spanish elites in Hispanic America during the 18th century. These Castas were created for and by the Spanish elites, solely for the purpose of showing the massive inequality in the area. The Sistema de Castas was used in 17th and 18th centuries in Spanish America and Spanish Philippines to describe and socially rank the mixed race people who were born during the post conquest period. In the 18th century Casta paintings were used to show a myriad of possible ethnic combinations. There were basic Castas, but countless intermediate kinds were produced from the mixing of existing mixtures. Casta paintings help normalize miscegenation (racial mixing) which was generally discouraged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The black boy seems to be the offspring of these two individuals which shows that intermingling was common. They also seem to be in Europe due to the European influences seen throughout the photo, such as the outfits the men are wearing. In Casta painting number 5, Jose Alcibar shows a black man wearing a black European styled hat along with a red European style jacket and matching breeches. In the photo, he is seen holding a Morisca woman s hand. Morisca s were former Muslims who converted to Christianity after Spain outlawed the public practice of Islam. Morisca s are also 1/8th African and 7/8th Spanish. The Spanish (Morisca) woman is wearing a dress that is made of a stunning brocade with a hem that is surrounded by gold. Also, the woman s dress has a large hoop. Moving along to the right side of the photo you can see the Mullato boy riding a goat. The concept behind the Black man holding the Spanish ladies hand is to show that they are a couple whom produced a mixed child that is half black and half white (Mullato). They seemed to be pictured in a European style environment, due to the fact that Moriscos were prominent in Europe. A situation like this would not be common in the colonial era. In fact, it would be very rare to see such mixing of races being painted. This shows the mixing of races were starting to be seen as a norm. • 4. Critical Analysis The Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner A Doomed Fate A Critical Analysis of Three Messages in Randall Jarrell s, Gunner Douglas MacArthur, an American general during World War II, described those who fight in war as, The soldier, above all others, prays for peace; for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war. Throughout history, war has been a part of every nation. From medieval times to present day, there have been a countless number of wars fought and even more human lives lost. Many short stories and poems have been written about the hard times of war, but none have been quite as inspirational as Randall Jarrell s, The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner. This five line poem described what it was like to be a ball turret gunner during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These men, such as the ball turret gunners, were of the most brave and fearless men to serve for the United States. Often, a person would think that no one would wish to be tasked with the mission of being a ball turret gunner; however, according to the article, How to Become a Ball Turret Gunner and Dr. Tim McGee, the waiting list to become a ball turret gunner was the longest in World War II. The article states, The men who served as gunners in World War II understood the dangers of the job they were signing themselves up for (David Sears). These men knew that they would be facing certain death if they chose to take position on the belly of an American army plane. Jarrell writes, Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life... (3). No man who signed up for this horrendous job expected to live more than three air trips. This just goes to prove how crucial it is to appreciate those who are willing to risk their lives just so others do not have to suffer. The last, and possibly most heartbreaking message in, The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner, is that no one is guaranteed a life on this earth tomorrow. During hard war times, such as World War II, thousands of young soldiers are called upon to fight for their nation whether or not they believe in what they re fighting for. • 5. Breakdancing Research Papers It started, some say, back in 1969 with James Brown releasing Get on the Good Foot. The physical panache with which Brown performed inspired fans to develop imitations. What started out as a street/club dance called The Good Foot rapidly spawned a whole genre called b boy dance, aka break boy, aka breakdance. (Mackrell, Judith). Mackrell also mentions that in the Bronx ghettos of New York, organized rival gangs or crews to compete in dance combats. The early phase of b boy was dominated by kung Fu style kicks, punches, and lunges, mixed with rocking shifts of balance between hands and feet. The more adventurous dancer s perfected aerodynamic spins balanced on their heads or shoulders. In the early 1970s, the craze spread to the west coast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This confusion of terminology caused a great problematic in the language of hip hop dance for two reasons. The first problematic reason is that breakdancing became an inadvertent umbrella term among the public for both breaking and the funk styles. The style of funk in hip hop was created in California independent from breaking, which was created in New York. According to Central Home, its article Hip Hop Dance it states, Across the United States from the Boogie Down Bronx, New York to the Beat Street corners of Compton, California, young people everywhere took to this new style of dancing that included such feats as breaking, popping, locking, gliding, ticking, vibrating and krumping. In the earlier days, some hip hop dance moves such as the Humpty Dance were made popular by hip hop artists who had created the songs from which these dances were derived. This style of dance is call funk styles because it was when originally dance to funk music. This name gives them a separate identity from breaking, which is traditional danced to break beats. The second reason this was problematic is that breakdancing was originally called b boying or breaking by the street dancers who created it. A break is a musical interlude during a song the section on a musical recording where the singing stops and the percussive rhythms are the most aggressive. In the early 1970s, DJs played break beats, dancers reacted to those breaks with their most impressive dance moves. • 6. The Increasing Need for Urban Planning 1. Introduction Quantitative urban studies are becoming increasingly important for planners knowing that in the year 2015 more than half the global population will be residing in cities [1]. Suitable urban planning ought to be a top priority for future development but unfortunately sound planning has not taken place especially in many African cities as heavy rural urban migration continues to cause cities to expand at uncontrollable rates [2]. As a consequence, the urban population in Africa is increasing at a much faster rate than in the rest of the world, contributing to the augmentation of the existing problems such as unsuitable land use [3]. The concentration of population in cities comprises as much as 60% of the total population in most countries. In these immense urban settlements the environmental and social consequences are sometimes disastrous [4]. Large cities in Africa such as Nakuru have experienced a fast growth rate of 13.3% between 1990 and 2006 [5]. The magnification has been attributed to a number of factors, mainly the aperture of the new Naivasha Nakuru road, which links the megacity of Nairobi. Post election violence is verbally expressed to be one of the contributing factors, since many displaced people from neighboring towns migrated to Nakuru as a safe shelter. The main consequences in these African cities include; urban sprawl, unsuitable land use, inadequate transportation systems, air and water pollution, depletion of natural resources, ... • 7. Scapular Muscle Rehabilitation Introduction In regards to mobility, the glenohumeral (GH) joint is one of the best the human body has to offer. It allows for the range of motion needed for the activities of daily living that we have all grown accustomed to. In order to execute these motions, however, the shoulder joint needs a stable base of support. This is one of the primary roles of the scapula and its surrounding musculature. When the GH joint is injured, however, scapular muscle activation, and therefore stability and function, is theoretically altered. Many shoulder rehabilitation programs focus on restoring proper coordination of these muscles, especially those involved with scapular upward rotation. Until recently, however, there has not been much research supporting the relationship between muscle activation ratios and shoulder injuries, nor the ability to preferentially activate scapular muscles using rehabilitation exercises. Furthermore, the purpose of this study was to determine if there are differences in muscle activation ratios between healthy individuals and those with GH injuries, as well as evaluate muscle activation during particular rehabilitation exercises (Moeller, Huxel Bliven, Snyder Valier, 2014). • 10. Significance Of The Magna Carta The Magna Carta was a very influential document that helped to established for the first time the principle that everybody, including the King, was subject to the law. The rule of law is a concept fundamental to democratic forms of government and asserts that all, including leaders, must abide by the laws of the nation. While the Magna Carta does not specifically state that the King is subject to the rule of law, the document establishes that principle by imposing limits on the King s power. In 1215, the Magna Carta was a peace treaty between King John and the Barons. First drafted by the Archbishop of Canterbury to make peace between the unpopular King and rebel Barons, it promised the protection of church rights, protection for the Barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown, which was set to be implemented through a council of 25 Barons. Neither side stood behind their commitments, and the charter was annulled by Pope Innocent III, leading to the First Barons War. In retrospect it was a failure, but it provided a new framework for the relationship between the King and his subjects. After King John s death, his son Henry III, reissued the document in 1216, stripping some of its more radical content, in an unsuccessful bid to build political support for the new government. At the end of the war in 1217, it formed part of the peace treaty agreed at Lambeth, where the document acquired the name Magna ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The influence between these two revolutions was mainly because of the leaders behind it all; Maximilien Robespierre and Mahatmas Gandhi. Maximilien Robespierre was the most influential person during the French Revolution. Robespierre came into power during the Reign of Terror and he executed many who he thought were against the revolution which lead him to be known as the Savior of the Revolution and also, the Tyrant of the Revolution. Robespierre set out to get equal rights with violence and threats. He would hang anyone who was against the revolution, but not only that, Robespierre craved the power and attention he was getting as the known leader of the French Revolution. He went so far as setting a law saying no one was to have a religion and said himself to be God. Gandhi however, handled his situation in a completely different manner. He continuously persisted on having a non violent protest against the British, saying it would only cause more lives to be lost. Gandhi also wanted Hindus and Muslims to put their differences aside and see how they are alike and how they worship the same God. Organizational Structure is a system that defines the levels of hierarchy within an organization. The organizational structure classifies each job, explains its function, and who it reports to within the organization. Based on my scores they suggest I prefer to work in a mechanistic structure rather than a organic structure. In a mechanistic structure people work separately and specialize on only one task. Also within a mechanistic the hierarchy of authority is well defined. The first section also measures my ability to delegate in the work place. According to my score I need to substantial improve on my ability to delegate. Based on the analysis delegating authority are what many managers have difficult doing. • 17. Theodore Beza And The Protestant Reformation Theodore Beza was a prominent figure in the Protestant Reformation who is often left out of the discussion of most important reformers at the time. To begin with, Beza s rise to distinction in the French Reformed movement was sparked so quickly to the point that he must be observed as John Calvin s coworker and friend rather than his successor (Steinmetz 114). The two companions often relied upon each other for advice to increase their knowledge and flourish in theology (Wolfe 230). His time with Calvin included a large amount of his spiritual growth and work, and continued to thrive for a little over forty years after Calvin s time (Birth Pangs). Beza cannot be ignored from the face of the Protestant Reformation and his influence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beza s position and theological ideas did not come without criticism. Early in his career, slanders arose in his own lifetime from Roman Catholic opponents who trembled at the power of his pen (Hanko). Modernly, Calvinists charged Beza with corrupting Calvin s teachings with new twists in which Calvin would have repudiated, especially his point of view on predestination and atonement of Christ (Hanko). It is pertained that these accusations may be more serious that many reformers in the seventeenth century gained knowledge from Beza instead of Calvin and that pure Calvinism has diminished over time (Hanko). The differences between Calvin and his successor did not stop there. When Calvin was teaching, he allowed the doctrine of election qualify for the doctrine of the atonement (Steinmetz 118). Beza had his own logical consistency in the argument that believed that Christ died only for the elect (Steinmetz 118). Another important difference to face is their views on the doctrine of justification. Calvin regarded this doctrine as both forgiveness of sins for the sake of Christ and as imputation (Steinmetz 118). However, Beza observed this as the active and passive obedience of Christ, an idea he obtained from the Lutheran theologian Flacius (Steinmetz 118). Active obedience refers Christ s whole life of choosing and performing the will of God as an obedient Son in his Father s house. A well known trend indicates that there were no women at Qumran, but that the Qumran settlement consisted of celibate males and the presence of women in the cemetery found by the site of Qumran has been argued against being from Qumran at second temple period. The most accepted hypothesis concerning the identity of the people at Qumran connects three factors: the site itself at Qumran on the shore of the Dead Sea, the dead sea scrolls discovered in the nearby caves, and the Essene population who were believed to have occupied Qumran. From the descriptions of three well known historians; Pliny, Josephus and Philo, all three describe the Essenes as a group of ascetics. Pliny even notes that their dwelling place is on the western shore of the Dead Sea and they live there in splendid isolation with neither property nor women. Pliny s description constituted one of the most important elements in the identification of the Qumran site as the Essenes dwelling, and both the material and archaeological artifacts were interpreted according to this theory. There are various endeavors made by researchers to accommodate the records of Josephus, Pliny, and Philo in which the Essenes were abstinent. Hester helped the poor, and instead of treating Hester with respect and kindness, they treated her crudely and disrespectfully. Clergymen stop Hester in the streets and use her as a sermon. Puritan women who believe that Hester should have received a harsher punishment, give Hester vulgar gestures and make impolite remarks. Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING Background of the Study Statistics shows that two of every ten college students today is a single parent, whether male or female. And the number of single parents in college is on a steady rise. This shouldn t really be surprising since single parent households have been on a sharp and steady increase for several decades. Today, there are more single parents enrolled in college than ever before. In his theory, enrollment, attendance, institution type, and student behaviors that influence student involvement in the institution are also assumed to impact students feelings of membership and participation in institutional life. Thus, the level of participation influences students decisions to stay enrolled and attain a degree, to transfer to another institution, or to discontinue enrolment in postsecondary education which he termed as student departure (Christie, 2002). Vincent Tinto identifies three major sources of student departure: academic difficulties, the inability of individuals to resolve their educational and occupational goals, and their failure to become or remain incorporated in the intellectual and social life of the institution. Moreover, the change in support systems is also related to integration into the campus system. The theory contends that given students demographic characteristics and their pre entry intentions, goals, and commitments, the decision to persist is a function of the extent to which the student has become academically and socially integrated into the institution. Tinto suggested that where there is poor academic and social integration, the student s experience at the institution is negative which affects the decision to withdraw and exit from the institution. This theory, in relation to single parents in college institutions, contends that there is a need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Essay about Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm The cardiovascular system is the most important system in our body. This system is what keeps us alive. Beating on average 30 billion times a year, our heart is never able to stop and take a break. With every beat of our heart, the cardiovascular system moves blood, gases, nutrients, and hormones throughout the intricate vasculature of our bodies. An adult body contains over 60,000 miles of vessels, which can wrap around the world two and a half times. The vessel branching off of the heart is largest artery in our body and is known as the aorta. The aorta supplies oxygenated blood to our body. The aorta runs along the midline of our body and has many other vessels that stem from it to deliver the blood to a specific location. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elastic tissue is very strong. The adventitia is the outermost layer. It is made of collagen and nourishes the wall with vasa vasorum. An aneurysm is a widening or ballooning of a vessel. It is caused by weakness in the aortic wall. In the aortic wall, the media is mostly affected because it is the thickest. There are instances where dilation of the wall can occur, but to the outermost layer and this is not a typical aneurysm. It is known as a false aneurysm or a pseudoaneurysm. When the outermost layer is dilated, often times the inner or medial wall will rupture, but the outer wall will still be intact. The extracellular matrix proteins degenerate and the inflammatory T cells are present. The collagen and elastin dissolve and disintegrate which will lead to an expansion of the aortic wall. If the pressure in the vessel is too great, the aortic wall will rupture. An abdominal aortic aneurysm is a ballooning or dilating of the abdominal aorta. An aneurysm is diagnosed when the diameter of the vessel is greater than 50% of its original diameter. The aorta is normally two centimeters in diameter at the level or the renal arteries. An aneurysm is named based off of their location, size and shape. An aneurysm will affect how the vessel is shaped, therefore causing the blood flow to alter. When an aneurysm is symmetrical on both sides of the aortic wall it is called fusiform; but if only one side of the wall is dilated, it is saccular. Aneurysms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Edidin, Ganim, Hunter, Karnik (2012) on any particular night in the United States there are ~2 million homeless youth living on the streets, in shelters, or in other temporary accommodation. Within the umbrella categorization of homeless youth there are high at risk subgroups, common misconceptions, and a serious concern of lack of support and medical services. Homeless youth face an abundance of challenges, especially if they are on their own, such as finding food, shelter, income, and potential medical expenses. Some youth experience additional hardship by facing the effects of abuse they endured at their previous place of residence. According to the National Conference of State Legislators (2013) 46 percent of runaway and homeless youth reported physical abuse, 38 percent reported emotional abuse, and 17 percent reported being forced into unwanted sexual activity by a family or household member. Some may say that s a significant amount of money compared to how much the United States owes in debt. Therefore, there should be more restrictions on who qualifies to get food stamps, and also on how long people can receive them. If people are unemployed, then they should have applied to at least three different jobs before being able to apply for food stamps. If people do have a job, then of course they must be making below poverty level to qualify. Finally, if the same person has failed four consecutive drug test, or four within three months, food stamps should be cut out completely with a four month penalty before reapplying. The last restriction that should be applied to food stamps is how long you are able to continue receiving them. A student would be to receive stamps as long as they are enrolled in school. A parent, or household with children, can receive food stamps for the child until he/she has graduated, or turned eighteen if the child has dropped out of school.
