2. Ethical Dilemmas In Nursing Essay
A2 In the scenario, the physician s action violated the principles of non maleficence, beneficence
and autonomy. First off, the principle of non maleficence is violated as physicians should strive
not to harm patients. For case A2, the doctor allowed the patient s serious condition to worsen
while knowing that the disease is treatable, only for the sake of observing how the disease
progresses. The doctor blatantly places the patient in harm simply to fulfil his own curiosity and
research progress, rendering his actions considered to be violating the principles of non
maleficence. Second, the doctor also violated the principle of beneficence. As a doctor, we should

To start off, the doctor has violated the principle of autonomy as he ignored the woman s wishes
which are fully supported by her family. Having a sound mind and the ability to make decisions,
the patient should have her will respected by doctors. In the case, despite the fact that the patient
s family verbally told the doctor about the patient s will to go home, her decision is not
respected by the doctor, who kept her hospitalised until she dies. Autonomy means that the key
decisions of a person s life should be determined by the patient herself if possible. Given that in
the case, the patient is already terminally ill and in the end stage of life, her will to go home
should be respected by the doctor, rendering the doctor s action a violation of the principle of
autonomy. Second, the principle of beneficence is also violated. Beneficence means doing what is
beneficial to the patient. This, however, is not only limited to the promotion of good health, but
also doing what the patient judges to be beneficial. In the case, the patient deems that going home
and die in her own bed, surrounded by her family is more beneficial to her than having a few more
weeks to live. The doctor, therefore, should do what is considered best by the patient in this

3. War Of The Roses Essay
The outcome of the battle of Bosworth Field on August 22nd, 1485, has long been one of great
controversy. It marked the end of one of the bloodiest civil wars in England s history, and the
dawning of the much acclaimed Tudor era. Bosworth raises many a question regarding the ideas
of loyalty and honour in the latter years of the medieval age. Upon which side of the battle field,
if either, did true betrayal lie? The infamous War of the Roses saw families torn apart and brother
turn against brother in a mad scramble to claim the English throne. How much did those years of
bloodshed effect the decisions value of loyalty to one s king or lineage? This paper will discuss

Over the course of his lifetime he changed his loyalties at least four times. Each time could easily
be construed as purely for personal advantages. Like his father and namesake, Lord Thomas
seemed to prefer waiting out conflict in order to emerge on the winning side. He did this not
once, but twice during Yorkist rule. Familial ties with Warwick did not stop him from siding
with Edward IV, nor did rewards from Richard III keep him from sitting out for the king s final
battle. Lord Thomas was motivated by personal gain and this strategy served him well. He was
well rewarded by a grateful, and possibly insecure, Henry VII with lands and offices that included
the much coveted properties of the now deceased Yorkist Harringtons (Horrox, p.

A smoothie is a great way to get the nutrients your body requires from fruits and vegetables.
Smoothies have become very popular with health conscious people and are available in a variety
of flavors. What is a smoothie? A smoothie is a chilled blended beverage made from fruits and/or
vegetables. It is sometimes sweetened and may contain chocolate. Many smoothies include crushed
ice, honey or frozen fruits. They are consistent like milkshakes and are thicker than slush drinks.
Usually smoothies do not contain ice cream but there are some that contain milk and yogurt.

You can choose between a portable immersion unit and a full sized container blender. The
portable immersion unit is designed for individual needs and is portable enough to carry to the
office for on the spot use. To make more than one glass of smoothie at a time you will need a
container blender. These electric blenders sit on your counter top. They are used to make large
batches of smoothies. They have a lot of power and can even blend ice and frozen fruits.
When choosing your smoothie blender you should consider how often you will be using it.
Different blenders run for different periods of time, if you are planning to use the blender for
longer periods of time then you need to get a heavy duty blender that will be able to handle the
load. Usually the run time of a blender depends on the RPM (Rotations per Minute) of the motor. A
good rule of thumb is that the lower the RPM the longer the run time though this is not always the
case.
Blenders run at a very high speed so it is important to get a blender that is sturdy. If you leave
your blender unattended it should not walk across the counter because of the vibrations from its
motor. Your blender should also come with a lid that fits snugly. The lid should not pop off and
cause a mishap if you are not there supervising. You should get a blender that has a tight lid and a
heave base, such a blender will be much safer to

6. The Federalist 10 Summary
In The Federalist #10 Madison argues that the greatest corruption found within a popular
government is its vulnerability to the problems that arise from factions, which is a group of
people who ban together to protect their own self interest and are prone to intrude upon the
rights of others. Due to different self interest, man will support what he believes in, even at the
expensive of others, if he is given the freedom to do so. Madison expresses that by nature, man
possesses different opinions, abilities, and self interest and therefore factions are inevitable to
human nature. Madison proposes two solutions in order to cure the problem of factions: prevent
the causes of fractions or to control the effects of the fractions. Madison states that the two
reasons that cause fractions are liberty and differences in property. Madison suggests that if
liberty is stripped from the people, it will then result in the people to carry the same beliefs and
opinions. Yet, liberty plays a crucial role in the forming of factions, which is why it cannot be
demolished since its consequences can be worse than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is only one other solution to this problem, which is to control the effects of the factions
with the forming of a republic government with different parties. Madison strongly states that by
having a large republic, where the people elect representatives, the less chance there is for
corruption. He further elaborates on what actions to take in order to be protected against the
tyranny of the majority or masses. Those who govern are accountable for taking actions that will
benefit for the greater common good. In a large republic, people will invest their votes on the
elects of office, which is therefore prone to less corruption where as in a small republic it is easy
for those to be fooled due to manipulation of possible people running for

The Role Women Played in the Social Reform Movements of the Antebellum Period
Comprehending the lives of American women and their roles is fundamental for understanding the
entire antebellum period in America. The period 1820 to 1870 in the United States was marked by
a forceful and widespread debate on woman s roles and their proper vocation whether this be in the
home or outside the home and becoming wage earners. This was, however, still a time in which
females were encouraged to be pure, dutiful, domestic and compliant by men and the government.

More positively, it saw the beginning of the American reform tradition and the first phase of the
fight to overcome the American dilemma, the fundamental moral disagreement between American
society s commitment to freedom, justice, and opportunity for all, and the truthful reality of
inequality in race and gender and was marked by the crusade for women s rights. (American
women s history Nancy A.Hewitt) Two hundred years ago, the traditional roles of leadership were
not open to women. Their status was, at best, confining. Nonetheless, their presence was felt and
their opinions were brought to bear when those opportunities presented themselves. Many of the
women who grabbed these opportunities were close to the movers and shakers of the early
republic, while others took direct action on their own. The expansion of the participation of women
in American culture occurred within the limits of the home and family, but formed nonetheless one
of the streams of social development within which post Revolutionary energies could flow. It
portrayed and in many ways helped to confirm the more open political feminist efforts of the
antebellum period. Women s role began and eventually changed radically during the social reform

vessels on the transient temperature field during CA for four different arrangements between
tumour and blood vessel [10]. Wang et al. in their study coupled the heat transfer and fluid flow
model established in a three dimensional space consisting of tumour, normal tissue and vascular

destruction and thermal history during treatment. The numerical approaches to the

Migration was the beginning of the Harlem Renaissanceit is, where it began the most significant

The Harlem Renaissance started after World War I. Northern factories had a huge demand for
workers; southern blacks took this opportunity to leave the oppressive economic conditions in the

12. Essay On Progress Come Out Of War
How many times have you flown on an aircraft? Now here s another question, can progress come

You might be a veteran flyer and are currently bored, so you re flicking through the magazine,
looking for something to capture your interest. Either way, you are reading this article while sitting
in a seemingly impossible feat of engineering, only feasible through the progress made in war.

There is a reason for this shape and it s not just to reduce drag as you might have previously thought.
The aircraft and wings are shaped like this to create more lift. I said earlier, the engines keep you
up in the air, that is not entirely true. Engines provide thrust to push the plane forward, and allow
airflow over the wings. That air running over the wings creates lift. The lift is what lets you fly.
Here is a basic rundown of how aerofoils (wings) work. Because of the curved shape, the air going
over the wing travels faster than the air underneath the wings. This creates a high pressure
underneath the wing, and a low pressure above it. You would think the high pressure pushes the
aircraft up, but instead the lower pressure is where the lift forms, and it pulls the wing up. Similar
to how a bag handle is used to lift a bag up.
However, this whole process is dependent on the angle of the wing in relation to the airflow.
Aircraft can still descend by reducing speed, and lowering the angle by pushing the nose down.
When ascending, the higher the angle, the more lift is produced. This continues until the aircraft
can t maintain it s speed, and effectively stops flying, or stalls. Don t worry though, pilots are
trained to recover from stalls, and commercial aircraft don t fly at a high enough angle to for this to
happen.
This aerofoil shape has been developed over many years, mainly during and after

Therefore, GE shares prototypes with customers. Furthermore, instead of currying favor with

Third, ethnography transforms a culture. From 1990s, Intel, a big corporation that does not market
directly to consumers, brought in ethnographers at the highest levels of management in order to
focus on consumer products more. In past years, Intel developed its wireless Centrino mobile
technology by studying Alaska s fishers; Intel began to develop medical technology for the wave
of retiring boomers by studying the elderly; Intel developed $500 Community India PC by studying
rural Indian condition. In order to do better in ethnography research, Intel created a network of

Josef Stalin is known throughout Russia for his legendry use of terror, political manipulation

of the legitimacy of his position as leader of the Bolshevik party still remains. Following the
death of Lenin in 1924, a power vacuum developed within the Bolshevik party and it was clear
that a leadership race between candidates had begun. Stalin was able to rise above men like
Trotsky, Kamenev and Zinoviev to launch into new economic policies, collectivisation and
industrialisation. The main key to Stalin s success in gaining power after Lenin s death was held in

He used this information to choose certain people to fill key positions who wouldn t oppose his
policies. It created a solid mass of Stalin followers within the Bolshevik party who owed their
posts to Stalin and dared not oppose him. These Stalinists became crucial sources of support
during the mass purges of the party in later years. He had control over 700 party officials and the
secret police, a necessary tool to gain control over the majority of the Bolshevik party and the
purges that would later follow. Through this manipulation of elements within the communist
party and even before Lenin s death, Stalin built up vast local and national bases of support.
With this in mind, he could then use his power and influence to cut out any opposition. The
power vacuum created by Lenin s death gave rise for many of Stalin s opposition to challenge
his bid for power and leadership of the communist party. Leading up to Lenin s death, Trotsky
and Stalin recognised they were the two main contenders to take over the position as leader of
the Bolshevik party. Stalin started a campaign to discredit the ideological errors of his main rival

background and disloyalty to the party as an ex Menshevik member. Trotsky s lack of devotion to

17. The Importance Of School Students In High School
In this essay I will argue that high school I will argue that high school students not let people
around them influence them to enroll into college right after their high school career because it
often leads to wasted money, long term financial issues, including stress and many other factors that
come with long term effects. Many parents pressure their teenagers to start choosing colleges to
enroll into while they are juniors and seniors in high school, and sometimes even children who are
still in elementary school. Many of these teenagers do not even know what their choice of major
would be, or have no clue what a major is. It takes a significant amount of time to explore the
different types of majors and programs that would be accessible at certain colleges. For example
one school may have a dermatology program, while another school may not even offer that program
at all, which means a person may have to consider looking at a different institution.
Teenagers only make decisions based off of the approval of those people that have the biggest
impact or influence on them. This is not a good choice because most of the time the decision is
not theirs and they realize this later on down the road when it is a little too late, leading to
wasted money. The average family earns about $70,000, which is less than the average expenses
of a general college student who is paying out of pocket for books, cost of attendance, etc. This

18. Human Evolution And The Human Race Essay
This essay is a continuation of an earlier work written for this class. I feel there is room to not only
clarify ideas proposed, but expand and introduce supplemental ones to further define previous
claims. The aim is to propose that though evolution and innovation are incredibly beneficial and
important to the humanrace, through a series of questionable morals and vast amounts of
wrongdoings have created a situation of over innovation, or innovating past the point of benefit.
Though from a cynical perspective, it is vital that we question what we do. Are we doing what is
truly best for ourselves, our planet, and our neighbors? Or are we striving so arduously that we
have essentially skewed right from wrong, and found ourselves in a situation that humans have lost
the sense of morals when it comes to how far we can push innovation?
Innovation is the way that species evolve and ameliorate their means to their ends, whatever that
end result may be. Undoubtedly, human evolution is an impressive trend of wise decision
making, trial and error, and frankly luck. To paraphrase a great mind of our time, Richard
Dawkins stated that human creation is a nearly impossible event, and our evolution a rare and
improbable one. In fact, our creation is still being proven as more and more evidence confirms the
idea of The Big Bang. This is because of the pure improbability, it s hard to comprehend and come

24. Analysis Of Gertrude Stein s I Ain t No Oxford
With so many rules in the English language, it is easy for one to wonder how they were created.
The dictionary, for example, was only created a few hundred years ago by people who thought
that was how language was supposed to be. Many artists have had the mission to go forward and
break these rules. Gertrude Stein s Tender Buttons, bill bissett s text bites, and John Agard s I Ain
t No Oxford Don question rules of grammar and synaptic normality. By the way, these poems
disrupt words, use non standard prose, and have ambiguous interpretations they break the rules of
grammar and disrupt the formal laws of language, inducing new ways of about the how one

A line just distinguishes it (Stein, p.6). While asking what is the flattering length she ends up
defining it by a line. A line can only be defined by a contour or outline. It cannot be defined by
actual matter. Therefore, the serene length ends up being defined by not being able to be
defined. This gives readers an unending openness to interpretation and perspective. In Gertrude
Stein s Water Raining she leaves the reader without any certainty. Stein writes Water is
astonishing and difficult altogether makes a meadow and a stroke (Stein, p. 10). Without the
use of punctuation, the reader is able to interrupt the poem according to how one sees fit.
Placing a period after astonishing (Stein, p. 10) makes it so the meadow and stroke are
strenuous on their own. A period after altogether (Stein, p. 10) leave the meadow and stroke to
come as an aftermath from the water. While a period after meadow (Stein, p. 10) gives serenity a
meadow will come from water but, a stroke is an afterthought. Stein was not the only one to use
visual art to make literature. bill bissett as a visual artist and writer links his worlds together. At
first glance, bill bissett s poetry seems to be hard to understand, nonsensical, and almost a fallacy.

The combination of Thomas being a speaker, educator, and pastor also reveals his pedantic and

BED BATH amp; BEYOND Suggested Study Questions 1. How would you characterize the
business risk of Bed Bath amp; Beyond? Review their financial performance. BBBY is special
since they are selling products that are produced by name brand companies, and if any products
needing repair could be sent directly back to the name brand company. Therefore, there are no
switching costs for BBBY since they have no control on the quality of the products they sell.
However, there fixed operating costs have been high and if management adds fixed operating costs

BBBY will need to trade off business risk against financial risk. They operate in an industry with
fairly low business risk however BBBY s operating leverage is high which could indicate a
higher than industry business risk if they are not cognizant of managing their fixed costs. In
addition, BBBY s debt to total asset ratio is higher than their industry. Both of these indicate a
high business and financial risk. If BBBY were to recapitalize to 80% debt to total capital it
would only increase their financial risk and reduce shareholders earnings per share. Therefore
the recommendation for a capital structure for BBBY would be to add more than the 40% debt
to total capital but not more than 80%. 2. Do you think Bed Bath amp; Beyond has too much
cash? Should Bed Bath amp; Beyond lever up? Consider both the 40% and 80% debt to total
capital proposals. BBBY has too much cash even though it has used the cash for store growth
and small acquisition. They should be focusing on using their cash to increase shareholder
value. If BBBY were to use $400 million in excess cash and $636.3 million in borrowed funds to
repurchase it s shares they would increase their basic earnings per share from 1.35 to 1.41 and their
diluted earnings per share from 1.31 to 1.37. If BBBY were to use $400 million in excess cash, and
borrow $1.27 billion to repurchase their shares, the increase of the basic earnings per share would

27. The Sociology of Gender
Sociology of Gender
Patriarchy: Patriarchy is the system where men are in power. Whether it is in a family setting,
government setting or society setting the men hold the power. Women are not as powerful,
depending on the country and society we are focusing on would change exactly how much
power women have in a patriarchal society. In a patriarchal society, men are seen as the leaders,
rulers, and the overall authority. However, on the other side of it, women are seen as lesser, the
weaker sex, and not as important as men. This often leads to different forms of oppression.
Ranging from gendercide in African countries, to things like the glass ceiling or rape culture here
in America. The sociology aspect of patriarchy is not only related to gender, it is completely
embedded in gender. Without gender and sex, the patriarchy would not exist. If we eradicated
genders, how would we decide who is in power? By their natural abilities to lead, not by the
feminine or masculine characteristics that we attach to them because of their genitalia. The
worst part of patriarchy is that we haven t necessarily had radical acts to make it exist, all we
have done as a society is allowed it, that alone makes it exist. It is seen as the normal and natural
because as a society we have not fought against it. Sociology analyses the patriarchy to see what
we can do to reverse it or to make a more equal society. (Patriarchy, The System, Johnson)

29. The Five Stages Of Grief
It s ironic that Elizabeth Kubler Ross theory, of the five stages of grief is present in the story
Hamlet by William Shakespeare after so many centuries later. Hamlet is believed to be the most
dramatic play in history, and comes with many personal conflicts that people still today will
struggle with. In Hamlet , the main character, Hamlet goes through the 5 stages of griefthroughout
the story. Elizabeth Kubler Ross developed a theory based on how she believes to be the stages
of acceptance of death. The 5 stages of grief and loss are: 1. Denial and isolation; 2. Anger; 3.
Bargaining; 4. Depression; 5. Acceptance. People who are grieving do not necessarily go
through the stages in the same order or experience all of them. (Axelrod, 2016) Even though,
Hamlet repeats some of these stages, and is involved in multiple stages at the same time, he does
in fact experience through all these stages. Hamlet the Danish prince, son of Gertrude, grieve for
the death of his father. The unexpected passing of his father causes Hamlet to experience a roller
coaster of emotions. The death of his father is not the only thing he struggles with, but the
marriage between his mother and uncle troubles him also. He feels as if his mother has betrayed
him, and did not give him the proper time to grief over the fatality of his father. Claudius, Hamlet s

that over exaggeration belongs in plays because all they are doing is entertaining the lower class
who are capable of nothing but inexplicable dumb shows and noise. He believes that your main
audience should be the upper class who appreciate plays more since they are regular play goers. By

of his physical defects, he is determined to prove villain and destroy the peace by becoming king.
In order to achieve his goal, he needs to deceive many people into believing he is someone else.

tells her that her beauty was the cause of that effect being she was the reason why he needed to
murder her husband and father in law. In the process of making her believe this farfetched lie, he
is eventually able to make her his wife. This scene alone shows that Richard is a good enough
actor to convince a woman in mourning that she is the reason these deaths happened. Hamlet
wants his actors to be realistic enough to be just like Richard was with Lady Anne. By Richard
deceiving many people in the play, he shows that being a good actor doesn t necessarily make
you a good person. Hamlet s advice to actors can easily be seen through Richard by the way he

33. College Is A Waste Of Time And Money Analysis
College Is Not Always Worth It Located in the 14th Edition of The Norton Reader, an article
written by Carolina Bird titled College is a Waste of Time and Money can be found. In the article
Bird argues that though college may be beneficial for a small percentage of students, but for the
majority it is a waste of time and money. The benefits of a collegedegree can rely on many
contributing factors, but for some college is simply a waste of time and money. Though most of
the sources used in Bird s article are over four decades old, the argument today is still very
strong. One example includes the idea that most students believe that college is the best thing
for them to do for their future, and therefore they enroll, only to realize they are not happy and
drop out. For other students their dream may have always been set on a specific career, putting
college into the plan, but following graduation the job market for their degree is scarce. Within
these two examples one would find support for the argument that college is a waste of time and
money. Written over 40 years ago, Bird argues of college being a waste of time and money to a
large percentage of the college population. Bird s argument is based on two major reasons, which
include students go to college for social reasoning rather than educational, and economics. Students
are influenced to believe that college is the thing to do, to benefit their future. Though college can

their amount of power and control to the point where they were considered to be a world power.
They had been conquering more and more land and territories during the Progressive Era than

Government
(Lao tzu V. Machiavelli) What is government? Government is the governing body of nation, state,

different types of government used all around the world. In the United States for example, uses a
type of government that has three different branches of power. The Legislative Branch is the law

branch is the presidential branch. Each has its own responsibilities and at the same time they
work together to make the country run smoothly and to assure that the rights of citizens are not
ignored or disallowed. (Osborne) Usually, governments break up the responsibilities into two or
more groups. Two very influential writers wrote about their views on government; Lao tzu and
Machiavelli. These writers were in very different times which makes it very interesting to
compare their views. Lao tzu and Machiavelli had very different views on the ultimate purpose
of government, the obligations of government leaders, and the main work of the state. To begin,
Lao tzu s and Machiavelli s views on the ultimate purpose of government are very different. First of

The mastery learning model aligns well with the behavioral learning theory. Behaviorism

39. Synthetic Proteins And Cellular Components Essay
Now with the GFP in the lysate solution with other soluble proteins and cellular components, we
need a strong and specific process that targets only the GFP and not the other parts of the
mixture. This strong and specific process used is called affinity chromatography, in which one
substance can be purified by using its specific interaction with another substance. In this case,
GFP has six histidines at its N terminus which can easily bond to Ni2+and this interaction can be
used to purify the GFP from the lysate by using a Ni NTA column. This Ni NTA column allows
for solutions to follow through except components that can easily bond to the immobilized Ni2+
ion in the column s silica matrix. Before we could use the Ni NTA column, we had to equilibrate
it by adding some binding buffer to the column that washes and prepares the column and then
centrifuge. After the column is ready for use, the bacterial lysate can be added to the column, with
some left for later analysis. The column is then centrifuged in order for the mixture to flow
through the matrix and separate those components that can bind to Ni2+ (not necessarily only
GFP) and those that simply flowed through. The liquid from the collection tube is collected and
transferred into a tube and labeled F for flow through (Figure 1, lane F). At this point the GFP is
bound to Ni2+ in the matrix of the Ni NTA column, however it is not alone. Many other proteins

There has been an SAT optional movement in which many liberal arts colleges in the US decided
not to require SAT or ACT scores as they thought it had outlived its usefulness.
The former president of Sarah Lawrence College stated that We are a writing intensive school, and
the information produced by SAT scores added little to our ability to predict how a student would
do at our college; it did, however, do much to bias admission in favor of those who could afford
expensive coaching

43. 2-Chainz Target Audience
Christian Little Professor Amy Porter English 9/14/14 Fast and furious 5 was a very successful
movie that was released by universal studios. It was a release to a very successful series of Fast
and Furious movies. The movie trailer for the movie was a very catchy and attention grabbing
trailer. The Fast and Furious 6 trailer was successful because of using ethos, the soundtrack
heard, and its use of displaying what s seen. I believe that his trailer hit its target audience with
this ad. The target audience for this trailer is a wide variety of a specific person. The larger
audience is the person who loves the action films and movies. The audience within this would be
car lovers, people who enjoy explosions, people who love the main actors,... Show more content on

There are some things however that it could have done a lot better. Like for example, it could
have shown some scenes a little longer. If I am someone who has never seen a Fast and Furious
movie, I wouldn t know what going on in the movie. They showed some very good parts but they
didn t show enough to make me thin =k that I knew what was going on. Another thing was that
they cut very fast and very often. I didn t like how it cut to black screen. The transitions didn t
seem smooth and it seemed really sharp and like it had to be perfect. There were also some
scenes that weren t age appropriate. I know the beginning is a little graphic for younger people.
They also didn t show a lot of racing scenes. I fell like that s a huge part of what Fast and Furious
is about and there weren t a lot of races. There were cares that could do cool things like take
down a plane but not a lot of racing. I m sure there is lots more in the movie but I wish I could
have seen a little more of that during the movie. That s really all the negative I have to say about
the ad that was shown. In my opinion, this was a very successful add. It show enough to keep
you guessing and to keep your attention. It stayed focused on its main goal and that was to sell
the movie and its image. I think it is clear that it was able to do that due to the fact that there is
another Fast and Furious that was released. This was a very successful TV ad and it was a great

44. Healthy Psychological Well-Being
One of the main issues with the argument put forth by Taylor, as positive illusions are part of a
healthy psychological well being, is the way she conducted her research. Almost all of the
experiments she conducted were composed of self reported evaluations. In this case, subjects
indicate, based on their own reasoning, whether they demonstrate psychological well being. This
may cause discrepancies in the research based on the subject s bias opinion of themselves,
admittingly having illusions, because they are prone to distorting reality. Subjects who interpret
the world in self serving ways may also perceive their own psychological well being in self serving
ways, when indeed they are not (Young, 2014). This argument was confirmed by researchers,...

The definition of positive illusions has changed over the years, from a disorder to being recognized
as part of mental health. Though the research has shown that there is, in fact, a positive correlation
between positive illusions and both mental and physical health, it does expose a need for focus on
the levels of positive illusions correlating to well being. Studies produced results that support the
hypothesis that levels of positive illusions can be beneficial but only in moderate forms rather
than unrealistic forms, thus providing an individual with a false sense of self rather than simple
confidence. Through research, evidence has explained there is a need for a more specific
definition of positive illusions in order to overcome the vagueness currently being used. In this
way, precise descriptions can be uncovered and the full benefits from positive illusions may be

45. Comparing Albert Camus The Stranger (The Outsider) and...
Lack of Order in Albert Camus The Stranger (The Outsider) and Jean Paul Sartre s Nausea
Nausea, by Jean Paul Sartre, and The Stranger, by Albert Camus, refuse to impose order on their
events by not using psychology, hierarchies, coherent narratives, or cause and effect. Nausea
refuses to order its events by not inscribing them with psychology or a cause for existence, and it
contrasts itself with a text by Balzac that explains its events. Nausea resists the traditional strategy
of including the past to predict a character s future. It instead focuses on the succession of presents,
which troubles social constructions such as stories and adventure. The Stranger resists traditional
categories of order by not dividing Meursault s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. . That may well be, my dear, that may well be (48). The conversation is a disordered succession
of statements, each lacking a clear justification for its content. Roquentin senses this same
gratuitous existence when he holds a pebble a the seashore. He feels a sort of sweetish sickness .
. . a sort of Nausea in the hands (10 11). The pebble exists without a function or justification, and
the nausea is Roquentin s sense of its raw existence. Nausea chooses not to incorporate its events
into a system of cause and effect by allowing their gratuitous existence.
Nausea refuses to use the traditional narrative strategy of describing the past in order to predict a
character s future actions. The text includes few details about the past, refusing to discuss why
Anny left Roquentin or what his adventures were. By not describing the past, it avoids the
traditional strategy of using past events to predict a character s future. Roquentin recalls an
evening with Anny because we were desperate, she as much as I . . . [to] feel the minutes

linked to his exploration of adventure (57). It does not enter because Roquentin feels guilt: he
believes that leaving her that night was a good job (57). It does not probe why he got up and left
without saying a word to her (57). Similarly, Roquentin s adventures enter only in terms of his

Born in Toledo, Ohio, one of the most energetic and smartest coaches to ever step onto a sideline,
this man is Jim Harbaugh. Son of Jack Harbaugh who spent a majority of Johns childhood
coaching at the University of Michigan before moving out to California for a different job.
Growing up around the team Jim had the opportunity to get close with the coach, a man named Bo
Schembechler. Already having a relationship it really was no surprise when Bo started recruiting
one of the top high school arms in the country in Jim s final year of high school to come and play
quarterback for the University of Michigan. Of course Jim accepted the scholarship offer and
packed his bags to move back to Michigan. Jim ended up having quite the college career there
too! Learning from one of the best coaches to ever coach anything he finished his college career
in the top five in passing yards, passing attempts, completion percentage, completions, and
touchdown passes in school history. He was the starting quarterback for the last three years of
his college stay, even though he broke his arm five games into his sophomore year and was out
for the remainder of the season. As a junior, he came back better than ever leading the nation in
passing efficiency as quarterback of one of Michigan s best teams ever under coach Bo, who took
Jim under his wing almost like a son and developed an amazing bond. Before graduating he also
received some prestigious honors such as the Big

47. Cave Art History
Many different types of art and architecture have been produced in the ancient times ranging
from cave art in Paleolithic times to Stonehenge to painted terracotta plaques and many more.
During the Paleolithic Culture ca. 7 million 10,000 B.C.E. homids lived and what resulted was
cave art. The most recent of these discoveries was made at the El Castillo cave in northwestern
Spain, where painted disks, clublike symbols, and hundreds of handprints, at least 37,000 years
old, appear to be the world s oldest known wall paintings. This form of art seems child like, but in
reality for the time period its surprising homids were doing anything other than trying to survive.
Cave art was painted with polychrome mineral pigments and coal. From ca. 10,000 4,000... Show

extremely hard workers and very persistent to be able to accomplish such architectural
advancement at this time with no real tools to do the job efficiently. Historians speculate that
they used levers, ropes, and piled logs to get these huge rocks where they needed to be. The
Sumerians had lots of great art work, but one extremely beautiful piece was the Queen of
Heaven, 1800 1750 B.C.E. a Babylonian goddess. This is a painted terracotta plaque scholars

rod and ring of authority in each hand. She stands on a pair of lions, symbols of power, and is
flanked by owls, symbols of wisdom. Art and thinking is getting more

48. Essay about Shakespeare s Sonnet 30 and Tennyson s In...
Loss has been experienced over centuries and many poets have written on the subject. William
Shakespeare s Sonnet 30 and Alfred Lord Tennyson s In Memoriam are two poems from
different eras that express the idea of loss. Both were written after the loss of a close male
friend, and both are only one poem from a series of poems. Shakespeare lived in England where
he was born in 1564 and died in 1616 and Tennyson also lived in England where he was born in
1809 and died in 1892, the poems being written in 1609 and between 1833 and 1850 respectively.
Whilst the poet s historical and cultural contexts are different, and there are differences in structure
and poetic devices used in the two poems, there are also similarities in the expression and... Show

Also during this era, many people were questioning their religious beliefs. In Memoriam has been
said to reflect the Victorian feelings. (Victorian Contexts, class notes: page 102) This era
influenced Tennyson along with his poor mental state, it also mediates on the Victorians deepest
concerns about religious doubt, such as death, creation and evolution. In Memoriam touches on
many intellectual issues and the poet searches for the meaning of life and death while trying to
come to terms with his sense of loss. (Victorian Context, class notes: page 110) In Memoriam
reflects the struggle to reconcile traditional religious beliefs and faith which was a popular
Victorian aspect of literature at the time. The poem shows the development over three years of
Tennyson s acceptance and understanding of his friend s death. (Robson, W., 2013) With this
cultural context, In Memoriam could be seen to be written in a time of advancement and hope,
however this contradicts the theme of loss of the poem.
The purpose of both poems is similar, both are about the loss of a male friend. The loss in Sonnet 30
is about the loss of a possible lover and the speaker is grieving this love. An example of the
friendship is And with old woes new wail my dear time s waste this can be translated that he his

Introduction
Dovercourt School is a bilingual school which provides English and Chinese program. The school
philosophy is to believe that the students need to be engaged to be deeply successful in their
learning. They believe that the students will be successful by persisting studying, overcoming
obstacles, and delighting in accomplishing their work.
I began to be a volunteer to read mandarin stories to students in mandarin grades three and four in
Dovercourt School in Oct 14 and Oct 16. On the one hand, I believe that volunteering activity can
create my credibility, build self confidence, develop self awareness, and share the vision. On the
other hand, the motivation behind volunteer activity will benefit for those students who need help
improve their mandarin knowledge. I
How was this activity chosen?
When I picked the volunteer project, I have been the volunteer in my son s school for several
years. I like to be a volunteer to participate the activity with kids since they are so creative and
lovely. Furthermore, the most important point is that I would like to observe my son s
development closely.
First, I contacted my son s Chinese teacher Ms. Lennon, who is very strict and responsible, and
tell her my requirement. She was very supported my decision and let me to read stories to her
students. Therefore, I became a volunteer to read mandarin stories this week for my son and his
classmates.
On this Monday, she emailed me to ask me whether I can come and

50. Riots In Hotel Rwanda
In Hotel Rwanda, their are two cultures who do not getting along, the Hutu and Tutsi. The Hutu
feel indignation towards the Tutsi because years ago they were given special privileges and power
based on their skin tone, nose width, and height. The Hutu anger started to brew, and cause people
to bring about the idea of riots. The Hutus then started a genocide against the Tutsis because of the
special treatment they had been given years ago. Similarly, in the United States, African Americans
and Caucasians have a feud. As everyone know, before the civil war whites owned slaves, who were
mostly African American. The whites thought they were superior to the African Americans because
of the difference in their physical attributes, specifically

51. Handmaids Tale
How is Gilead presented as a place of power and control in the opening chapters of The
Handmaid s Tale? The Republic of Gilead is the fictional country which Margaret Atwood chose
as the setting for her dystopian novel, The Handmaid s Tale. We can infer from the first chapter
that Gilead is within the borders of the USA from the fact that old blankets still said US: this
hints that some sort of major catastrophe has occurred before the time of the novel to change this.
The first few chapters suggest a lot about the setting, and also how the transition of the country
from being the United States of America to the Republic of Gilead may not have been a
particularly positive one. The novel of The Handmaid s Tale is based on the... Show more content

The different uniforms worn within Gilead are another example of the state using the power
they have to control their citizens. All women in the Republic are defined by the colour of their
uniforms. These uniforms remove all individuality from particularly the submissive women, as
well as camouflaging all signs of shape and figure. Gilead sees women s sexuality as dangerous,
which is why the uniforms they have prescribed are so concealing and unflattering. When Offred
walks by the young Guardians, she moves her hips when she senses them watching her, and then
states her hope that they get hard as a result of her doing this. This shows how she feels that her
ability to inspire sexual attraction, despite her uniform is the only power she herself retains.
Fear is obviously used in Gilead as the main form of control, made clear by the fact that there are
men with machine guns in the pillboxes on either side of road this indicates how strict the rules
within the country are, and how severe the consequences are if you break them. The Guardians
sexual desire is controlled by the idea of the floodlights going on, the rifle shots which illustrates
the extent of the power the state has over them they have not yet earned the right to a women,
therefore would be totally sex starved as masturbation is a sin and porn is forbidden. The only

the medium of causing Battery towards Alice. Nathan had whipped Alice s chair when she was

third element of Battery is also fulfilled as there was physical contact occurred in this case. Lastly,
in this case, the tort committed was without the Plaintiff (Alice) s consent. Nathan was liable for
Battery for making Alice falls to the ground until she fractured her arm. Since all the elements of
Battery has been fulfilled in this case of Nathan and Alice, which are the mental state of the
