Muscle Fatigue Lab Report
Muscle fatigue is the process of exhaustion or strength lost, as well as muscular endurance that
corresponds with the building up of lactic acid in the muscles (Medical Dictionary) Throughout the
lab it was discovered that the greater the number of muscles in the body that are used, the more fatigue
builds up, and it becomes difficult to use those muscles. According to table 1.2 and 1.3, there was a
decrease in the number of squeezes of a clothespin that were completed in 30 seconds for each of the
10 trials. As the number of trials were increased it became difficult to press the clothes pin quickly and
efficiently, causing the fingers pace to slow down. The first couple of trials were easily completed
without muscle soreness since the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The importance of the weakness of the metal spring of the clothespin being different for each
clothespin is the lack of accuracy and causing the data to discrepancies in it which doesn t fulfill the
purpose of the experiment. Another limitation of the experiment is width of the finger. The importance
of this weakness is that by not having the same width of the finger then some people with a bigger
finger width might be able to get more number of squeezes compared to a person that has a shorter
width of the finger. Third limitation of the experiment is the finger strength of the individual. The
importance of this weakness is that if an individual has a greater finger strength than someone else
than that person would be able to get a bigger amount of squeezes than someone else that has a lower
finger strength. Fourth limitation, would be the physical and daily activity of the individual. The
importance of the weakness of this is that if an individual does a physical activity on a daily basis
which involves a ton of energy then that individual s muscle would not get that fatigued compared to
an individual that doesn t do a physical

Ir Spectroscopy Lab Report
The objective of experiment H was to identify an unknown compound using only infrared resonance
(IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. IR helped determine the functional groups
present in the molecule. NMR helped solve the structure of the molecule. The first step to solving my
molecule was analyzing my IR spectra. The broad bands at 2958cm 1 indicated C H alkane stretches.
These stretches were sp3 hybridized bonds since they did not go past 3000cm 1. I found a strong
carbonyl (C=O) stretch at 1736cm 1, an ester. In the fingerprint region, there was a C O stretch at
approximately 1182cm 1, consistent with an ester. The next step to solving my unknown was to
identify the molecular formula. To do this, I used the rule of 13. ... Show more content on

The absorptions in NMR were calculated from left to right. The reasoning behind this is because of
protons that shield (up field) or de shield (downfield). Factors that influence shielding/de shielding
depend upon electron withdrawing/electron donating protons. If the protons on a molecule were more
electron withdrawing, the molecule will be more deshielded. If the protons on a molecule were more
electron donating, the molecule will be more shielded. Looking downfield, Ha showed absorptions at
approximately 4.1ppm. The range for hydrogen s attached to a single bonded oxygen is at
approximately 3.5 4.8 ppm. Hydrogen s attached to carbon in this region were deshielded because of
the electronegativity of the oxygen (electron withdrawing). Looking up field, Hb was at approximately
2.3ppm, which is the chemical shift range for alpha hydrogen s (2.1 2.5ppm). Alpha carbons were
carbons that were directly attached to a carbonyl. Because the carbon in this region is an alpha carbon,
its attached hydrogen s were alpha hydrogen s. The absorptions for Hc were at approximately 1.6ppm.
Hd s absorptions were at approximately 1.4 ppm. Both Hc and Hd were in the chemical shift range for
CH2 bonds. He and Hf were the most shielded of the peaks. The chemical shift range for CH3 groups
is at 0.7 1.3ppm. Both He and Hf were at the ends of the molecular structure since they were most
shielded and had two neighboring

Arthur Ashe and his younger brother Johnnie went to church every sunday. Every day after school
arthur and his brother were required to come straight home. Arthur s dad even clocked the distance
from the school to there house. My father . . kept me home, out of trouble. I had exactly 12 minutes to

History Of Fabric And Textiles Textile Development During...
The history of fabric and textiles
Textile development during the Industrial Revolution (1780 1850)
In 1968, Eric Hobsbawm said: Whoever says Industrial Revolution says cotton. Among many
historians the Industrial Revolution is considered as the process in which technological changes led by
the mechanized factories of the cotton industry created large profits for innovators that continued in
succeeding decades. It was the key event in the emergence of modern economic growth, which led to
shifting manufacturing from people s houses and shops to factories. It was a time of vivid change,
from hand tools and handmade items, to the products which were produced by machines.
Nevertheless, life improved, the industrial revolution had some harmful consequences, such as
increased pollution, harmful working conditions, employment of women and children, who were made
to work long and hard hours, etc.
The shift to factories in the United States grew out of a process that began in the British textile
industry. British inventors developed machines to do tasks that have been done by hand. Sometimes
the machines replaced other, older and weaker machines. For example the spinning jenny, which was
run by water power, replaced the spinning wheel; the power loom replaced the hand loom. These
machines were small enough to be placed in the cottages. But later, people invented bigger and more
powerful machines, which needed a huge space to be positioned. This was the reason why people

Waiting For Godot Essay
The atomic bomb signaled not only the commencement of the Cold War, but also a political divide
between the communist ideologies of the Soviet Union and the democracy of the Western world. A
fear of communism behind the Iron Curtain and nuclear annihilation spread throughout the US, while
existential views regarding the meaning of life arose. Through their texts, composers subverted
dominant Cold War paradigms to ........ ATQ....... Samuel Beckett s modernist existential play Waiting
for Godot (Godot) (1953) is a philosophical questioning on the purpose of human existence, and the
nature of scientific development. In response to the existential angst following WW2, Beckett uses the
conventions of Absurdist theatre to examine philosophical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is established at the beginning of Act 1, through an allusion to Christian philosophy in Vladimir s
dialogue about the fable of the two thieves, where One is supposed to have been saved and the other
damned . In his allusion to the Bible, Beckett emphasises chance being woven into even the most
sacred of texts that supposedly hold the ultimate truth for humanity. Moreover, in his book
Understanding Samuel Beckett (1990), Alan Astro highlights that it is God s silence that causes the
real hopelessness amidst all the comical actions of Beckett s characters. He suggests, the recourse to
bookkeeping by the philosopher (Pascal) no less than the clownish tramp shows how helpless we are
with respect to God s silence . However, while Beckett s play is concerned with a loss of meaning, it
raises a positive message, implying we are free to give our own lives meaning and purpose, free to
redeem our suffering by making something of it (Kaufmann). While Beckett sees little reason for hope
after witnessing the trauma caused by the very weapons meant to preserve world peace, he is unable to
relinquish it entirely. This is evident in the symbol of the tree. The tree is central to the set design of
the play, for the sprouting of leaves in act 2, metaphorically suggests new life and resolution an image

Apollo vs. Green Arrow
Apollo and Green Arrow/ Oliver Queen When I first learned about the Greek god Apollo in my
Classical Mythology class, he reminded me of Oliver Queen. Oliver Queen is a character from one of
my favorite television show called Smallville . He inherited a big industrial empire from his parents
when they passed away. He was a playboy who did not care to give back to the society and only did
what pleases him. One day, when Oliver was out on his boat, he was pushed overboard into the sea by
an employee. After being marooned on an island, he learned to hunt and improved his survival skills.
He later found a small settlement on the island and saw that some of the islanders were cruelly
disposed of in a nearby well. It shocked him and he became ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Oliver was also seen kissing a girl named Marianne now and then. ( Scott McCullar s Green Arrow
Compendium ) Throughout his first appearance in Smallville, Oliver was seen dating Lois Lane, the
future wife of Superman. They had differences that cannot be overcome and their relationship ended.
After that, Oliver seemed to rekindle with an on and off old flame Tess Mercer, who was also Lex
Luthor s, Oliver s enemy, ex wife. She is also very cunning and self perseverative. She only cared for
herself and fled when Oliver came into trouble. She later came back to be a good friend and support
system for the vigilante team. Oliver also had flings with Betsy Braddock and Adrienne Frost. Betsy
Braddock was noticed by Oliver because she had psychic abilities. Oliver came across Adrienne Frost
because she seemed to have telepathic abilities. ( Smallville Season 6 10 ) Oliver s fascination with
these two ladies especially reminded me of Apollo and his .... Oliver s latest and last known
relationship is with Chole Sullivan and they have a child together. While there are many similarities
between Apollo and Oliver Queen, there are also several differences. Apollo is the God of Prophecy;
therefore he or his oracles are prophetic and can know what will happen in the future. While their
answers are ambiguous, the oracle or the priests who interpret them still seemed to predict well
enough. (Mayerson 124) Among the superheroes,

Character Analysis Of Sketchy
The journey of a lifetime starts with the turning of a page (Anders). This means that as a book is read
new adventures come along as well as relationships with characters. The book Sketchy written by
Olivia Samms has a very interesting and unique plot. The main character, Beatrice Washington, has
just come out of rehab and is trying to stay drug free. She has also just moved to a new high school
and is trying to get settled there. Although a setback to her goal occurs when Willa Prescott, a girl
from the high school, is raped and left to die. Bea meets Willa in her art class and soon finds out she
had a rare and strange ability. Bea has the power to draw what people are thinking. She had read Willa
s mind and drawn the rapist, although Willa refused to admit that she remembered anything from the
night she was raped. Bea has a new goal in mind; bring justice to Willa and the families of the other
girls who had been murdered/raped. Only if she can convince the police to believe her, and have Willa
agree to who the rapist was. When Charlie reviewed the book Sketchy on goodreads.com, she was
very enthusiastic and rated the book very positively, focusing on character development. Charlie is
accurate in her assessment of the book because Beatrice is a very relatable character but is not the
typical teenager which is portrayed in most books; she is more down to earth.
Charlie left a positive review of the book, making many comments favoring the setup of character
development. She makes a remark saying nothing is so over the top to make it unbelievable and by
doing so, I believe a wide audience will be able to easily connect with the character . This helps
support the idea that the build up of character development can help increase the overall plot. It does
this because it states how Beatrice is a character portrayed as a rebellious teenager but it is not
extremely stereotypical and this helps the reader be more related to the story and feel as if he/she
could imagine themselves in this position. Charlie also notes that It adds a dimension that elevates a
good story to a great story . This is referring to the way the characters and supporting characters help
add another side to the story to hook the

Love Exposed In James Baldwin s If Beale Street Could Talk
A world full of hatred, lies, and discrimination can make life a bit
unbearable. Nevertheless, as it is demonstrated in If Beale Street Could Talk , by James
Baldwin, if one possesses the power of love one can withstand almost anything that comes his or
her way. This does not mean simply having love between a man and a woman; but also having
parental and even human love. If someone has love from all three sources, then the
world wouldn t seem as bad as people make it out to be.
The narrator of this sumptuous novel is Clementine Rivers, also known as Tish. The
beginning of the story starts with Tish going to visit her significant other, Alonzo Hunt, who also
goes by the nickname Fonny. He unfortunately has been incarcerated for ... Show more content on

Fonny s only hope in winning this case was his alibi and hopefully his lawyer;
who eventually became close with Tish s family. He tried everything in his power to
help release Fonny and keep the cost down. But they did not succeed. Fonny was eventually
released on bail after multiple family members took on extra jobs, and his father began stealing
goods from work to sell. Once Fonny was released everyone thought everything could go back to
normal; but they were mistaken. The only question left to ask, would Fonny be proven innocent
or guilty?
While Tish was down and all hope was lost, it was love that helped her overcome
adversity. For example having her father s love and support the entire time. She recalls him
saying to her,
Get that baby here, safe and sound. We ll get Fonny out of jail. I promise. (Baldwin 134)
Also the memories of Fonny kept her going. Fonny was always there for her, to love her, to
care for her, and to protect her. Tish carrying a child and Fonny being in
jail, made her realize just how much she actually loved and why they both fell for each
other. The love that Tish had is what kept her believing that things could get

Descriptive Essay On Restaurant
After a day of running the cold roads, I knew there was only one place to go that served warm home
style country food anywhere near where I was at; and that is Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel is an
inviting restaurant that started in 1969, in Tennessee, that has grown tremendously; however, it still
serves its customers with true southern hospitality. This chain of restaurants tries to gather all things
stereotypically southern in one place hoping to give it customers a taste of it all. This exaggerated old
southern restaurant is a place where families go to relax and play checkers while they wait on their
table or go look at the general store that is located in front of every Cracker Barrel restaurant.
As I walked in on a chilly day, I expected the air to be warm and feel welcomed but that was far from
the truth. The air was cold and the staff was hastily walking around yelling back and forth at one
another trying to organize the general store. The general store has a little bit of everything for
everyone. It has old fashioned candies, toys for all ages, dress up clothes for little kids, regular
everyday clothes for grownups, and seasonal products that rotate in and out. My favorite thing that the
general store over prices is its old fashioned candies; though the price is worth it simply because it is
candy that you cannot find anywhere else.
Making my way back to the hostess table I could already hear the waitresses talking about their
personal lives and their

very closely in the sea can easily miss this genital, well camouflaged marine fish in plain sight, the sea

ways and are divided into two diverse genus and species, Phycodurus eques (Leafy Sea Dragons) and
Phyllopteryx taeniolatus (Weedy Sea Dragons). Here you will learn about the taxonomic classification

Also, like seahorses they have a horse like head and a fused jaw(National Geographic). On the other
hand there are differences and both sea dragons take on the appearance of seaweed and kelp to blend
in with their habitat. The leafy seadragon, phycodurus eques have appendages that are leaf like in
appearance, ranging from different sizes along its head, body, and tail. Spaking of size, a adult leafy
seadragon can reach a lighth of 20 24cm(8 10 inches) in some cases up to 35cm(1.1ft) in total length ;
this is impressive size for a marine fish in the syngnathidae family, but is smaller than its close cousin,
the weedy dragon ,which averages 30cm and can reach up to 45cm (1.5ft)( PRIMEFACT). Although
their appendages are not used for locomotion, using small, transparent pectoral fins, which are located

sharp spines that can serve for defense purposes (Mlssa). Concerning leafy seadragons color it is said
that in shallow water they are yellow brown or greenish with dark pink rib bands and green brown
pronounced leafy appendages; in deeper water, those that live there are dark brown to burgundy red.

Personal Narrative Essay On Pumpkin Picking

clouds were turning dark gray and the air was very heavy. The fog filled the aisles of the apple trees.
We had to pick our pumpkins fast because the weather was turning bad, a storm was coming. I saw the
perfect pumpkin all the way in the back of the patch. I picked one up and it was perfect. As I turned it
around, it was really a pumpkin zombie. The eyes were dark red, seeds were coming out of its mouth,

Adventure tourism is an outdoor leisure activity that generally takes place in an unusual, exotic,
remote or wilderness setting, sometimes involving some form of unconventional means of
transportation and tending to be associated with low or high levels of physical activity.
Adventure Tourism ranges from non hazardous to high risk had led to the concept where adventure

adventurers skew slightly more female, but not as much as other types of travelers who are
predominantly female.
Normal holiday insurance policies do not cover many of these activities. Adventure tourism target a
high yielding consumer segment hence tourists are often about 30 years old, highly educated,
single/attached and have high powered jobs, the travel groups tend to be small but the distance
travelled is often great.

Most adventure tourism takes place outdoors in natural settings, such as mountain, rivers, oceans,
forest, snowfields and caves. This natural attractions otherwise known as facilities provide the perfect

The History Of Video Games
History of video games. Have you ever played a video game and wonder? How does this thing work?
Who invented it? Well you in luck because I have all the information that you need to tell you about
the history of video games. How video games have advance right along with technology that we use in
everyday life. If you ask people. When video games did first came out? Most people would say in the
1970 s and they would be wrong. In 1958, William A. Higinbotham, an engineer working for the
United States government, came up with first game played on a type of screen. It was a two player
tennis game played on an oscilloscope, a piece of electronic equipment with a 5 inch display . (The
history of video games) In 1961, Steve Russell developed the first game played on a computer called
Spacewar . The game was a hit with people but only a very few would really have the chance to enjoy
it. The reason was because back then a computer was the size of a car and very expensive this system
cost about $120,000. Only about fifty of these computer were ever sold. In the mid 1960 the Military
wanted some sort of device that would develop the reflexes of the military personnel. In 1966 Ralph
Baer, an employee of defense contractor Sanders Associates, addressed this demand when he came up

Punishment For Corporal Punishment
Two different families live in the same neighborhood; in the home are both parents and one child, the
children are both boys. One family spanks their child when he miss behaves; the other family does not
spank their child when he miss behaves they simply tell him it s not okay to act that way. The family
who supported corporal punishment spanked their child daily, they did it to re enforce to the child that
the parents were the boss and that he needed to listen to them; and that when he acted out in a bad
manner then he would be punished for his behavior. Eventually that child learned what he could and
couldn t not do, he learned that his parents were the boss and he needed to follow their rules that they
set, as well as learning right from wrong. That child grew up showing everyone respect, and he knew
that in real life if he got in trouble and didn t follow the rules that there would be consequences to his
actions. The other family raised their child without spanking him; yes the child knew what was right
and what was wrong but he didn t care because there was no discipline or consequences for his
actions. The family constantly argued and yelled at each other and it was not a peaceful home. When
that child grew up he didn t care for the consequences of his actions and constantly acted out in
society. Not every situation are like these two but many are, the punishment of the child is up to the
parent. Parents can gain a lot from spanking their child; and their child can learn a lot like discipline,
respect, and taking responsibilities of their actions, and excepting the consequences.
I believe in corporal punishment to an extent. Yes, I think spanking your child is effective and most
kids respond to it very well. In order for spanking to be effective the parent needs to be discipline
about it on themselves; for example, the parent cannot sit and tell their child that they will be getting

Effect Of Pop Size On Popcorn Size
Did the height of the popcorn kernel affect its calorie count?
Which brand of popcorn contains more calories based on the height of the kernel when popped?
The purpose of this experiment was to determine calorie count relative to kernel height. Furthermore,
this information can be used to inform healthy snack choices.
Food is important to our bodies, we need it to survive. The energy in it, known as calories gives us the
energy to go about our daily lives. When we eat food we need there to be a fair amount of calories in
that food. But sometimes we don t want all the calories, so we search for a small snack.
Buttered popcorn would burn faster and yield more calories. Many brands were buttered popcorns like

Once in the lab pop all of the popcorn, then take the five tallest kernels from each brand. (make sure to
have the necessary safety gear at hand)
Measure them, weigh them and record all the data.
Once the top five in each brand are found, keep them seperate so as not to lose them.
Prepare a burning station with a pipette, test tube, a cork with a pin to secure the kernel on, matches or
a lighter. Make sure to have pencil and paper nearby to record data.
Place one kernel from a brand on the pin, place it on gently so it doesn t break.
Record the starting temperature of the water in the test tube.
Then start recording the temperature of the water, light the kernel on fire.
Watch the temperature closely so as to spot the highest temperature.
Find the highest temperature, record it, and weigh the burnt kernel, record that too.
Obtain fresh water and prepare the next kernel.
Repeat this process for all five kernels from each respective brand.
After all the data was collected, calculations were made for the average height, average mass, and
each individual kernels calories. The data shows that popped kernels with an average height that is
over 20 mm have a larger average of calories than the kernels with an average height below 20 mm.
Orville with an average height of 15.8 mm was the control. The average number of calories yielded by
Orville was 264.2 cal/g. Compared to other brands this was a high standard.

The Gap Between Generation Y And The Baby Boomer Generation
This paper reviews an article written by Elza Venter from the Department of Psychology of Education
at the University of South Africa. The article is titled Bridging the communication gap between
Generation Y and the Baby Boomer generation.
The purpose of this research was to answer one key research question: How can the generational
communication gap between the Baby Boomer generation and Generation Y be closed in order to
allow them to have meaningful interpersonal communication?
According to Venter (2016), meaningful communication between the Baby boomer generation and
Generation Y is important because these generations have connected channels of communication and
can bring meaning to each other s lives. Meaningful communication ... Show more content on

On the contrary, Baby Boomers value face to face communication. Baby Boomers are digital
immigrants who grew up without technology. They had to migrate to using technology. According to
Prensky cited in Venter (2016), members of the Baby Boomer generation had to learn the digital
language in order to communicate with the digital natives. Some members still experience difficulty in
maintaining their digital immigrant accent (p.3). Baby Boomers prefer face to face communication
because of the presence of body language and non verbal cues which are important to them (Walmsley
cited in Venter, 2016, p.4).Therefore, members of the Baby Boomer generation will only resort to
computer mediated communication if the context does not allow for face to face communication. For
example, the Baby Boomer generation will send emails or phone another person if they cannot walk or
drive to that person, they rarely resort to only instant messaging to fill their interpersonal
communication (Venter, 2016, p. 2). Members of the Baby Boomer generation do not appreciate
technological skills of Generation Y because they prefer learning in a step by step process instead of
multitasking. (Prensky cited in Venter, 2016, p.4).
The research was conducted as a literature review using the cues filtered out approach and the social
presence theory (Venter, 2016, p.2). The

The Differences Between Parliamentary Presidential System
Differences between Parliamentary system and Presidential system [Judiciary]
In relating both systems, parliamentary and presidential systems are currently using different judiciary
system to enforce law in society. Before entering judiciary segment, it is essential to understand the
definition of judiciary where it can be noted that:
...Judiciary is commonly considered the third branch of government. It stabilizes the political system
by solving disputes involving the country s law... (Barrington, 2010, p. 280)
...It is emphatically the province and duty of the judicial department to say what the law is... John

Administration of law in United Kingdom is different with United States of America, this can shown
in:
...The United Kingdom does not have a single body of law applicable throughout the kingdom.
Scotland has it is own distinctive system and courts, and in Northern Ireland certain spheres of law
differ in substance from those operating in England and Wales.
The main civil courts in England and Wales are:
Magistrates Courts
County Courts for small cases and
The High Court, which is divided into
The Chancery Division,
The Family Division, and
The Queen s Bench Division (including the maritime and commercial courts), for the more important

(The United Kingdom Judicial System)
But in United States of America the courts that operating are:
...Supreme Courts consisted of six justices, who rode the circuit as judges of the Courts of Appeals.
The courts was reduced to five members at one time and expended to ten at another. Since 1869, The
Supreme Courts has consistently had nine members. And since 1891, the justices have no had to serve
on courts of appeal, although each justice has some responsibilities with at least one appeals court...

Coffee, Tea, And Tea
The history of the world can be viewed through six drinks, beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and Coca
Cola, as told in the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage. However, focusing
on three drinks in particular, rum, coffee, and tea, an enormous story can be told. Those three drinks
impacted the world in many ways, especially the cultures that consumed or traded them. In order to
produce Rum, many Africans were brought to the Americas to work in servitude. This caused a culture
shift, because now you had two very different cultures working closely together, but one was
considered superior to the other. Coffee sparked the emergence of enlightened thinkers, whose
conversations and writings profoundly shaped European culture. Tea helped Britain retain the colossal
empire they are often credited with. This is because of a secondary effect of tea as it helped to create
the British Empire, which in turn impacted the world colossally. Coffee, tea, and rum catapulted the
world into major cultural shifts.
During the 17th and 18th centuries when rum was introduced the culture in the Americas and Britain
became one of unenlightened and drunken people. Before rum, all that most Europeans had to drink
was disease ridden water and beer. Rum was a happy medium between the two drinks. Rum had more
alcohol content than beer, and had more flavor than water, so it pleased the masses greatly. However,
since Rum did have a higher alcohol content, it left the population in a

Reflective Reflection
The British Association of Occupational Therapists (2007) states that reflective practice is
fundamental in continuing professional development (CPD) in order to keep skills and knowledge up
to date and to practice effectively, safely and legally (Health and Care Professions Council, 2012).
Reflection is vital for all healthcare students in order to establish links between theory and practice
(Jasper, 2013), that will help increase clinical reasoning and enhance professional practice (Rigby et
al., 2012). Using models of reflective thinking makes sure that reflections are meaningful to our
personal CPD (Armitage et al., 2012).
Models of reflective thinking are designed to aid us reflectively. Each models varies in how much
information, description, evaluation and critical analysis are needed. The most commonly used models
in healthcare are; Gibbs, Kolb and Borton. In order to choose a reflective model an individual must
firstly know what they want to achieve and how in depth they want to go with their reflection (Jasper,
2013).
For this reflection I have chosen Gibbs (1988) model to help me understand my role, actions and
behaviours throughout my group work sessions with my Personal Professional Development (PPD)
group and explore and evaluate the interactions with the multi disciplinary team (MDT) during the
research of a patient care pathway. The reasons for choosing Gibbs model is that it is clear and precise
which allows for description, analysis and evaluation

Aldi Runs And How It Maintains Its Success
Foreword
So what is good about Aldi? What is it that they do different which make them so successful? In this
report I hope to give the reader a better insight into the way Aldi runs and how it maintains its success.
I will look deeper into what Aldi could do to make them even more profitable and more successful in
terms of increasing customer footfall and spend. I will also look at what is currently done in terms of
influencing customer decisions in Aldi. I will assess the factors which underpin consumer behaviour
and evaluate the nature and type of decisions undertaken by consumers and the organisation, All of
this will be done with the aim to produce a strategy which can make Aldi more successful in terms of
increasing customer footfall and spend.
In increasingly competitive markets, consumers have better choices over where they buy their
products. For an organisation to meet its business objectives, it has to find out what consumers require
and then identify the best way in which it can satisfy these needs and wants. Creating a competitive
advantage can be difficult. A unique marketing strategy with clear objectives is vital to ensure
effective promotional activity.
Aldi s main marketing objective is to grow its market share within the UK grocery market. With the
economic crisis a couple of years ago came an increased demand for value for money. Market research
identified that just over 80% of Aldi s customer base also shopped at other supermarket chains. The

Eva By George Sava Essay
Due to his social context, George Sava Russian born surgeon and novelist, author to a pseudo
biography of Eva, Mourning Becomes Argentina had reason to dislike the Peróns. He recalls the time
when, during World War II, Argentina raised the price England had to pay for beef, supposedly under
the orders of Eva. Yet, in this case, Sava s personal context is more pertinent to his portrayal of Eva,
having met her on four occasions, all of which are detailed in his 1978 book. Throughout his book,
Sava attempts to remain superficially objective, not providing his opinion on Eva s character, instead
merely relaying the facts as he saw them, warts and all. He writes in his conclusion that if asked...
which side of the fence [he stands], [his] answer would be on neither side. And yet, from the way in
which he relays his facts, Sava certainly comes across as being quite partial towards Eva Perón,
painting her with very few warts, often noting her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the form of popular history, the book focusses on Eva s character, telling her story from the
Argentine pampas to Buenos Aires and beyond, and trying to capture the dichotomous nature of Eva s
persona. Barnes choice to present Eva negatively was very much in vogue in the late seventies,
providing an alternative view to that of the musical Evita. When reading Eva Perón, one gets a sense
of Barnes playing devil s advocate, reviving the negative portrayal of Eva following the spike in the
public s favour for her stimulated by the musical. Barnes paints a picture of Eva which does not show
her in the best light, but in many cases is inaccurate. His portrayal is very much based on that of Fleur
Cowles, emphasising Eva s ambition and her power in the Peronist Party. At the start of his [Perón s]
Presidency, he had given her a desk and a few chores to do at the Ministry of Labour, he writes.
Within two years she was virtually running the

Why The Fries Taste Good By Michael Pollan Analysis
Pollan and McCorkle Synthesis with Schlosser Michael Pollan, writer of Eat Food: Food Defined and
Her Chee to Heart author Jill McCorkle are both aware of the unhealthy nature of processed foods, but
Pollan would scold McCorkle for succumbing to the processed food s appeal because he discredits the
category food product as actual food; there is nothing about McCorkle s relationship to food that
Pollan will agree with. These nonfiction articles take different stances on food in the twenty first
century. Pollan s approach is to warn consumers about processed foods and to guide them into a
healthier lifestyle while McCorkle describes her junk food addiction with stories that highlight the
artificial foods people are so quick to love. Eric Schlosser s Why the Fries Taste Good is the third
article connected to Pollan and McCorkle s; his writing explains why processed food is so bad but also
provides an explanation as to why it is appealing. McCorkle and Pollan will never see eye to eye when
it comes to what kind of food people should be eating. While Pollan urges consumers to stay away
from the enticing products foods at all costs, McCorkle welcomes junk food as it is an integral part of
her life. The way they shop for food is completely opposite. Pollan argues that the best place to buy
fresh produce and organic meat is a farmer s market, but McCorkle s short lived trip to the all natural
grocery store only reinforces that she did not belong there. She was surrounded

  • 2. Muscle Fatigue Lab Report Muscle fatigue is the process of exhaustion or strength lost, as well as muscular endurance that corresponds with the building up of lactic acid in the muscles (Medical Dictionary) Throughout the lab it was discovered that the greater the number of muscles in the body that are used, the more fatigue builds up, and it becomes difficult to use those muscles. According to table 1.2 and 1.3, there was a decrease in the number of squeezes of a clothespin that were completed in 30 seconds for each of the 10 trials. As the number of trials were increased it became difficult to press the clothes pin quickly and efficiently, causing the fingers pace to slow down. The first couple of trials were easily completed without muscle soreness since the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of the weakness of the metal spring of the clothespin being different for each clothespin is the lack of accuracy and causing the data to discrepancies in it which doesn t fulfill the purpose of the experiment. Another limitation of the experiment is width of the finger. The importance of this weakness is that by not having the same width of the finger then some people with a bigger finger width might be able to get more number of squeezes compared to a person that has a shorter width of the finger. Third limitation of the experiment is the finger strength of the individual. The importance of this weakness is that if an individual has a greater finger strength than someone else than that person would be able to get a bigger amount of squeezes than someone else that has a lower finger strength. Fourth limitation, would be the physical and daily activity of the individual. The importance of the weakness of this is that if an individual does a physical activity on a daily basis which involves a ton of energy then that individual s muscle would not get that fatigued compared to an individual that doesn t do a physical ... • 3. Ir Spectroscopy Lab Report The objective of experiment H was to identify an unknown compound using only infrared resonance (IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. IR helped determine the functional groups present in the molecule. NMR helped solve the structure of the molecule. The first step to solving my molecule was analyzing my IR spectra. The broad bands at 2958cm 1 indicated C H alkane stretches. These stretches were sp3 hybridized bonds since they did not go past 3000cm 1. I found a strong carbonyl (C=O) stretch at 1736cm 1, an ester. In the fingerprint region, there was a C O stretch at approximately 1182cm 1, consistent with an ester. The next step to solving my unknown was to identify the molecular formula. To do this, I used the rule of 13. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The absorptions in NMR were calculated from left to right. The reasoning behind this is because of protons that shield (up field) or de shield (downfield). Factors that influence shielding/de shielding depend upon electron withdrawing/electron donating protons. If the protons on a molecule were more electron withdrawing, the molecule will be more deshielded. If the protons on a molecule were more electron donating, the molecule will be more shielded. Looking downfield, Ha showed absorptions at approximately 4.1ppm. The range for hydrogen s attached to a single bonded oxygen is at approximately 3.5 4.8 ppm. Hydrogen s attached to carbon in this region were deshielded because of the electronegativity of the oxygen (electron withdrawing). Looking up field, Hb was at approximately 2.3ppm, which is the chemical shift range for alpha hydrogen s (2.1 2.5ppm). Alpha carbons were carbons that were directly attached to a carbonyl. Because the carbon in this region is an alpha carbon, its attached hydrogen s were alpha hydrogen s. The absorptions for Hc were at approximately 1.6ppm. Hd s absorptions were at approximately 1.4 ppm. Both Hc and Hd were in the chemical shift range for CH2 bonds. He and Hf were the most shielded of the peaks. The chemical shift range for CH3 groups is at 0.7 1.3ppm. Both He and Hf were at the ends of the molecular structure since they were most shielded and had two neighboring ... • 5. History Of Fabric And Textiles Textile Development During... The history of fabric and textiles Textile development during the Industrial Revolution (1780 1850) In 1968, Eric Hobsbawm said: Whoever says Industrial Revolution says cotton. Among many historians the Industrial Revolution is considered as the process in which technological changes led by the mechanized factories of the cotton industry created large profits for innovators that continued in succeeding decades. It was the key event in the emergence of modern economic growth, which led to shifting manufacturing from people s houses and shops to factories. It was a time of vivid change, from hand tools and handmade items, to the products which were produced by machines. Nevertheless, life improved, the industrial revolution had some harmful consequences, such as increased pollution, harmful working conditions, employment of women and children, who were made to work long and hard hours, etc. The shift to factories in the United States grew out of a process that began in the British textile industry. British inventors developed machines to do tasks that have been done by hand. Sometimes the machines replaced other, older and weaker machines. For example the spinning jenny, which was run by water power, replaced the spinning wheel; the power loom replaced the hand loom. These machines were small enough to be placed in the cottages. But later, people invented bigger and more powerful machines, which needed a huge space to be positioned. This was the reason why people started to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is established at the beginning of Act 1, through an allusion to Christian philosophy in Vladimir s dialogue about the fable of the two thieves, where One is supposed to have been saved and the other damned . In his allusion to the Bible, Beckett emphasises chance being woven into even the most sacred of texts that supposedly hold the ultimate truth for humanity. Moreover, in his book Understanding Samuel Beckett (1990), Alan Astro highlights that it is God s silence that causes the real hopelessness amidst all the comical actions of Beckett s characters. He suggests, the recourse to bookkeeping by the philosopher (Pascal) no less than the clownish tramp shows how helpless we are with respect to God s silence . However, while Beckett s play is concerned with a loss of meaning, it raises a positive message, implying we are free to give our own lives meaning and purpose, free to redeem our suffering by making something of it (Kaufmann). While Beckett sees little reason for hope after witnessing the trauma caused by the very weapons meant to preserve world peace, he is unable to relinquish it entirely. This is evident in the symbol of the tree. The tree is central to the set design of the play, for the sprouting of leaves in act 2, metaphorically suggests new life and resolution an image of hope against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Character Analysis Of Sketchy The journey of a lifetime starts with the turning of a page (Anders). This means that as a book is read new adventures come along as well as relationships with characters. The book Sketchy written by Olivia Samms has a very interesting and unique plot. The main character, Beatrice Washington, has just come out of rehab and is trying to stay drug free. She has also just moved to a new high school and is trying to get settled there. Although a setback to her goal occurs when Willa Prescott, a girl from the high school, is raped and left to die. Bea meets Willa in her art class and soon finds out she had a rare and strange ability. Bea has the power to draw what people are thinking. She had read Willa s mind and drawn the rapist, although Willa refused to admit that she remembered anything from the night she was raped. Bea has a new goal in mind; bring justice to Willa and the families of the other girls who had been murdered/raped. Only if she can convince the police to believe her, and have Willa agree to who the rapist was. When Charlie reviewed the book Sketchy on goodreads.com, she was very enthusiastic and rated the book very positively, focusing on character development. Charlie is accurate in her assessment of the book because Beatrice is a very relatable character but is not the typical teenager which is portrayed in most books; she is more down to earth. Charlie left a positive review of the book, making many comments favoring the setup of character development. She makes a remark saying nothing is so over the top to make it unbelievable and by doing so, I believe a wide audience will be able to easily connect with the character . This helps support the idea that the build up of character development can help increase the overall plot. It does this because it states how Beatrice is a character portrayed as a rebellious teenager but it is not extremely stereotypical and this helps the reader be more related to the story and feel as if he/she could imagine themselves in this position. Charlie also notes that It adds a dimension that elevates a good story to a great story . This is referring to the way the characters and supporting characters help add another side to the story to hook the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Descriptive Essay On Restaurant After a day of running the cold roads, I knew there was only one place to go that served warm home style country food anywhere near where I was at; and that is Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel is an inviting restaurant that started in 1969, in Tennessee, that has grown tremendously; however, it still serves its customers with true southern hospitality. This chain of restaurants tries to gather all things stereotypically southern in one place hoping to give it customers a taste of it all. This exaggerated old southern restaurant is a place where families go to relax and play checkers while they wait on their table or go look at the general store that is located in front of every Cracker Barrel restaurant. As I walked in on a chilly day, I expected the air to be warm and feel welcomed but that was far from the truth. The air was cold and the staff was hastily walking around yelling back and forth at one another trying to organize the general store. The general store has a little bit of everything for everyone. It has old fashioned candies, toys for all ages, dress up clothes for little kids, regular everyday clothes for grownups, and seasonal products that rotate in and out. My favorite thing that the general store over prices is its old fashioned candies; though the price is worth it simply because it is candy that you cannot find anywhere else. • 20. Punishment For Corporal Punishment Two different families live in the same neighborhood; in the home are both parents and one child, the children are both boys. One family spanks their child when he miss behaves; the other family does not spank their child when he miss behaves they simply tell him it s not okay to act that way. The family who supported corporal punishment spanked their child daily, they did it to re enforce to the child that the parents were the boss and that he needed to listen to them; and that when he acted out in a bad manner then he would be punished for his behavior. Eventually that child learned what he could and couldn t not do, he learned that his parents were the boss and he needed to follow their rules that they set, as well as learning right from wrong. That child grew up showing everyone respect, and he knew that in real life if he got in trouble and didn t follow the rules that there would be consequences to his actions. The other family raised their child without spanking him; yes the child knew what was right and what was wrong but he didn t care because there was no discipline or consequences for his actions. The family constantly argued and yelled at each other and it was not a peaceful home. When that child grew up he didn t care for the consequences of his actions and constantly acted out in society. Not every situation are like these two but many are, the punishment of the child is up to the parent. Parents can gain a lot from spanking their child; and their child can learn a lot like discipline, respect, and taking responsibilities of their actions, and excepting the consequences. I believe in corporal punishment to an extent. Yes, I think spanking your child is effective and most kids respond to it very well. In order for spanking to be effective the parent needs to be discipline about it on themselves; for example, the parent cannot sit and tell their child that they will be getting spanked when they get home and then not follow through with their word because then that child will come to realize they can get away with anything. On the other hand, the parent cannot get carried away with spanking their child excessively; if the parent spanks their child to much then the child can become resentful and ... • 21. Effect Of Pop Size On Popcorn Size Did the height of the popcorn kernel affect its calorie count? Which brand of popcorn contains more calories based on the height of the kernel when popped? The purpose of this experiment was to determine calorie count relative to kernel height. Furthermore, this information can be used to inform healthy snack choices. Food is important to our bodies, we need it to survive. The energy in it, known as calories gives us the energy to go about our daily lives. When we eat food we need there to be a fair amount of calories in that food. But sometimes we don t want all the calories, so we search for a small snack. Find the highest temperature, record it, and weigh the burnt kernel, record that too. Obtain fresh water and prepare the next kernel. Repeat this process for all five kernels from each respective brand. After all the data was collected, calculations were made for the average height, average mass, and each individual kernels calories. The data shows that popped kernels with an average height that is over 20 mm have a larger average of calories than the kernels with an average height below 20 mm. Orville with an average height of 15.8 mm was the control. The average number of calories yielded by Orville was 264.2 cal/g. Compared to other brands this was a high standard. ... Some members still experience difficulty in maintaining their digital immigrant accent (p.3). Baby Boomers prefer face to face communication because of the presence of body language and non verbal cues which are important to them (Walmsley cited in Venter, 2016, p.4).Therefore, members of the Baby Boomer generation will only resort to computer mediated communication if the context does not allow for face to face communication. For example, the Baby Boomer generation will send emails or phone another person if they cannot walk or drive to that person, they rarely resort to only instant messaging to fill their interpersonal communication (Venter, 2016, p. 2). Members of the Baby Boomer generation do not appreciate technological skills of Generation Y because they prefer learning in a step by step process instead of multitasking. Coffee, Tea, And Tea The history of the world can be viewed through six drinks, beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and Coca Cola, as told in the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage. However, focusing on three drinks in particular, rum, coffee, and tea, an enormous story can be told. Those three drinks impacted the world in many ways, especially the cultures that consumed or traded them. In order to produce Rum, many Africans were brought to the Americas to work in servitude. This caused a culture shift, because now you had two very different cultures working closely together, but one was considered superior to the other. Coffee sparked the emergence of enlightened thinkers, whose conversations and writings profoundly shaped European culture. Tea helped Britain retain the colossal empire they are often credited with. This is because of a secondary effect of tea as it helped to create the British Empire, which in turn impacted the world colossally. Coffee, tea, and rum catapulted the world into major cultural shifts. During the 17th and 18th centuries when rum was introduced the culture in the Americas and Britain became one of unenlightened and drunken people. Before rum, all that most Europeans had to drink was disease ridden water and beer. Rum was a happy medium between the two drinks. Rum had more alcohol content than beer, and had more flavor than water, so it pleased the masses greatly. However, since Rum did have a higher alcohol content, it left the population in a ... Reflective Reflection The British Association of Occupational Therapists (2007) states that reflective practice is fundamental in continuing professional development (CPD) in order to keep skills and knowledge up to date and to practice effectively, safely and legally (Health and Care Professions Council, 2012). Reflection is vital for all healthcare students in order to establish links between theory and practice (Jasper, 2013), that will help increase clinical reasoning and enhance professional practice (Rigby et al., 2012). Using models of reflective thinking makes sure that reflections are meaningful to our personal CPD (Armitage et al., 2012). Models of reflective thinking are designed to aid us reflectively. Each models varies in how much information, description, evaluation and critical analysis are needed. The most commonly used models in healthcare are; Gibbs, Kolb and Borton. In order to choose a reflective model an individual must firstly know what they want to achieve and how in depth they want to go with their reflection (Jasper, 2013). For this reflection I have chosen Gibbs (1988) model to help me understand my role, actions and behaviours throughout my group work sessions with my Personal Professional Development (PPD) group and explore and evaluate the interactions with the multi disciplinary team (MDT) during the research of a patient care pathway. I will look deeper into what Aldi could do to make them even more profitable and more successful in terms of increasing customer footfall and spend. I will also look at what is currently done in terms of influencing customer decisions in Aldi. I will assess the factors which underpin consumer behaviour and evaluate the nature and type of decisions undertaken by consumers and the organisation, All of this will be done with the aim to produce a strategy which can make Aldi more successful in terms of increasing customer footfall and spend. In increasingly competitive markets, consumers have better choices over where they buy their products. For an organisation to meet its business objectives, it has to find out what consumers require and then identify the best way in which it can satisfy these needs and wants. Creating a competitive advantage can be difficult. A unique marketing strategy with clear objectives is vital to ensure effective promotional activity. Aldi s main marketing objective is to grow its market share within the UK grocery market. With the economic crisis a couple of years ago came an increased demand for value for money. Eva By George Sava Essay Due to his social context, George Sava Russian born surgeon and novelist, author to a pseudo biography of Eva, Mourning Becomes Argentina had reason to dislike the Peróns. He recalls the time when, during World War II, Argentina raised the price England had to pay for beef, supposedly under the orders of Eva. Yet, in this case, Sava s personal context is more pertinent to his portrayal of Eva, having met her on four occasions, all of which are detailed in his 1978 book. Throughout his book, Sava attempts to remain superficially objective, not providing his opinion on Eva s character, instead merely relaying the facts as he saw them, warts and all. He writes in his conclusion that if asked... which side of the fence [he stands], [his] answer would be on neither side. When reading Eva Perón, one gets a sense of Barnes playing devil s advocate, reviving the negative portrayal of Eva following the spike in the public s favour for her stimulated by the musical. Barnes paints a picture of Eva which does not show her in the best light, but in many cases is inaccurate. Why The Fries Taste Good By Michael Pollan Analysis Pollan and McCorkle Synthesis with Schlosser Michael Pollan, writer of Eat Food: Food Defined and Her Chee to Heart author Jill McCorkle are both aware of the unhealthy nature of processed foods, but Pollan would scold McCorkle for succumbing to the processed food s appeal because he discredits the category food product as actual food; there is nothing about McCorkle s relationship to food that Pollan will agree with. These nonfiction articles take different stances on food in the twenty first century. Pollan s approach is to warn consumers about processed foods and to guide them into a healthier lifestyle while McCorkle describes her junk food addiction with stories that highlight the artificial foods people are so quick to love. Eric Schlosser s Why the Fries Taste Good is the third article connected to Pollan and McCorkle s; his writing explains why processed food is so bad but also provides an explanation as to why it is appealing.
