Using Graphs And Charts With Color And Good Title Makes...
Summary of the Article
The authors think using appropriate graphs or charts with color and good title makes audience easy to
understand the contents. First, choosing correct graphs and charts. Each graph and chart has a different
function. For example, Pie chart shows the percentage of a whole. Understanding the function of
graphs and charts is important to tell messages. Second, using color. They think the foregrounding
color for texts must opposite color to the background color, because audience can read and understand
the main points easily. Third, deciding preferable title. Title should be simple and help the audience to
get to the point of graph and chart. The authors say using graphs and charts is also useful in a
document. However, people should put them with introduction to make readers understand what they
mean, and put them near the arguments to emphasize the point. People shouldn t use many of graphs
and charts because they give audience less impression (Lynch and Golen, 2002).

The Sixth Amendment And The Sixth Amendment
Introduction Literature Review
Questions concerning pretrial exposure center on the tension between two guaranteed rights in the
United States, the First Amendment and the Sixth Amendment to the Constitution. The First
Amendment allows the press to print, while the Sixth Amendment promises a speedy and public trial,
that an unbiased and impartial panel directs. When the press exposes a current investigation, including
prior convictions, or admissions, a panel, or select representatives on a panel, would be exposed. In
Ruva Guenther s (2017) experiment, researchers examined how a panel s memories, evidence
interpretations, perceptions and guilt decisions varied when pretrial exposure was present. It was
determined that representatives on a panel who were exposed would pass their bias onto other
representatives not exposed prior. Given the strong constitutional protections that the press possesses,
courts need to manage chances where pretrial exposure is present.
Purpose Research Question
In dismissing representatives on a panel, we assume that pretrial exposure determines their conscious
decisions. With that being said, we expect a representative on a panel to know that pretrial exposure
could determine their decisions, and to know how to isolate this in deliberation. Dating back to Nisbett
and Wilson s experiment in the 1970 s, decisions were determined in the unconscious, but what
determined these decisions or biases, even when biases in decisions were mentioned, was unsure,
(Newell Shanks, 2014). In other words, one knows that biases could determine decisions, but not
theirs. This so called bias blind spot is common in deliberation. The ultimate question is, what is there
to do concerning pretrial exposure while selecting an unbiased and impartial panel?
Proposition
Voir dire is intended to determine whether representatives on a panel were exposed to pretrial
exposure. Dismissing representatives on a panel who were exposed to pretrial bias is unrealistic. To
combat issues concerning pretrial exposure, as well as bias, counsel will de bias mock representatives,
as a means to de bias perceptions and decisions, as a solution. De biasing will result in more reasoned
and less automatic decisions. With

Ritalin Abuse
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) first licensed methylphenidate hydrochloride in 1955 for
treating what was formerly known as hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder or ADD. The drug was
commonly prescribed in the 1990s when the diagnosis of ADHD became better known and accepted.
In 2000, Janssen Pharmaceuticals received approval from the FDA to market Concerta, an extended
release form of Ritalin. Approximately two thirds of 6.4 million children presently diagnosed have
been prescribed drugs like Ritalin or Adderall (another common CNS stimulant).
First synthesized in 1944, the Ritalin formula (at that time commonly known as MPH, from
methylphenidate) was improved in 1950, and by 1954 it was being tested on humans. In 1957, Ciba
Pharmaceutical Company began marketing MPH as Ritalin to treat chronic fatigue, depression,
psychosis associated with depression, narcolepsy, and to offset the sedating effects of other
medications. It was used into the 1960s to try to counteract the symptoms of barbiturate overdose.
Ritalin has a high potential for abuse when injected it may produce feelings of euphoria. Those who
misuse Ritalin increase the amphetamine like effects by crushing the tablets into a powder and
snorting it or dissolving it in water for intravenous injection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While amphetamines stimulate the release of dopamine, cocaine and Ritalin block the transporters that
reuptake dopamine into the neuron that released it. By blocking transporters, Ritalin allows more
dopamine to reach receptors, thus increasing attention signaling, which helps people with ADHD to
focus. Ritalin, when taken orally, slowly raises dopamine levels over the course of an hour or so. By
contrast, when inhaled or injected, cocaine reaches the brain in seconds, producing a

Abstract
This experiment was performed to determine the melting point ranges of standard substances, urea
cinnamic acid mixtures, and unknown substances. The melting point ranges were measured by
observing the temperatures in which the substances began and completed liquefying in the Stuart
SMP10 Melting Point Apparatus. The melting points ranges of pure naphthalene, urea, cinnamic acid,
sulfanilamide, 4 toluic acid, and anthracene were 82 82, 132 133, 134 135, 164 166,183 184, and 216
219°C. Melting points were obtained for urea cinnamic acid mixtures. The melting point ranges of
1:4. 1:1, and 4:1 mixtures of urea cinnamic acid by mass were 103 113, 103 104, and 107 127°C
respectively. Finally, the melting point ranges for unknown substance A were around 134 136°C and
the ranges for unknown substance B were around 135 139°C. Based on the melting points, the
unknown substances were identified as urea and cinnamic acid. Overall, the results of the experiments

village life is better than city

Today s life has many difficulties and people are the victims, so they plan to make it easy as they

facilities the insufficient medical and education facilities, few opportunities to make money, little
entertainment, no or little public transportation, also less facilities than a big city offers.
Over all there are some similarities between both locations with big differences. But for each lives

Ayn Rand s Arguments Psychological And Ethical Egoism
Psychological and Ethical Egoism
Topic 2:
Humans tend to help others to benefit themselves rather than the person s actual needs. It has been
said that everyone is selfish in everything that they do. Psychological egoism states this very theory. It
says that humans are motivated by self interest to help others, even in cases of altruism. Ethical
egoism however, states that people ought to do what is in their self interest. This differs from
psychological egoism since that is what humans do selfishly to help others. When we help people in
need are we really helping them to better themselves, or rather we are doing so we feel better about
ourselves? There are two arguments in favor of psychological egoism.
The first argument states that we do what we most want to do. This means that people only do what
exactly they want to do. James Rachel s, a famous philosopher believes that this argument is flawed.
James Rachel says that this idea is flawed since people don t always do what the most want. He states
that sometimes what we most want isn t what happens in certain case since we have to ... Show more

Rand s argument has five steps. They are 1. Each individual has intrinsic and supreme worth projects,
plans 2. The ethics of altruism regards the life of an individual as something, which must be readily
sacrificed for others 3. Thus, the ethics of altruism does not take seriously the value of the individual
4. Ethical egoism does take the human being s individuality seriously, and is the only philosophy that
does so. And finally, 5. Thus Ethical Egoism is the philosophy that ought to be accepted. Mr. Rachel s
and I both disagree with Ms. Rand. Rachel s claims that Rand is too extreme with her belief and that it
cannot be classified as Egoism but extreme Egoism. Rachel also claims that if its not Extreme egoism
it can be Extreme Altruism. I believe that Rand s belief is extreme and makes no sense for

Benefits Of Hiking Shoes
BEST HIKING SHOE BRANDS
Humans started wearing shoes more than 40000 years ago. Some old Spanish cave drawings show
humans wearing animal skin or fur around their feet. Shoes have been around, in different forms, for a
very long time. Sandals were the most primitive form of footwear, however some older civilizations
preferred wearing the shoes that were soft and were used for hiking on borders of Iran. However some
of the ancient civilizations like Egypt didn t wear shoes due to their suitable climatic and landscape
situations. The Romans saw footwear as a symbol of status and power and their slaves remained
barefoot. Then high heeled shoes were introduced in the Middle Ages which were also associated with
power and status. In some cultures, people removed their shoes to show respect to some other person.

Comparing Tangled And The Brothers Grimm
Tangled is a Disney movie created to tell the story of Rapunzel, a young girl taken by a witch and
locked in a tower. Rapunzel is a story collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, the Brothers Grimm,
about a young girl locked in a tower. Although they seem quite similar, there are quite a few
differences between the movie Tangled and the Brothers Grimm Rapunzel . One difference occurs at
the beginning and how the evil witch gains possession of Rapunzel. In the Brothers Grimm story, the
witch agrees to let the man give the rampion from her garden to his wife as long as she gets their first
born. She said the child that will come into the world must be given to me. It shall go well with the
child, and I will care for it like a mother. In the movie Tangled, a queen is pregnant and gets sick. To
heal her, people are sent out to look for a flower that cures all diseases. When the baby is born, she has
magical hair that can heal everybody and make you young again. The evil witch breaks into the castle
to cut a piece of the baby s hair but learns that once it s cut, it loses it s power. So instead, she takes
the child and flees the castle. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Most Important Day Essay
Honestly if I were to think of my most important day, not even one would come to mind, because
when your put on the spot to think of one it s hard. Although, there is one day that out of all is clear as
daylight in my head, down to every second. I think this is due to the day being different than all the
other days. In my life, I experienced something I thought I never would. My most important day of my
life is when I finally met my older cousin Akash, while we were on our vacation on the cruise.
I always knew my cousin Akash, but we had never truly spoke nor bonded. He d always do his own
thing, and I guess you could say I looked up to him due to the type of person he was. I d really only
see him at family parties due to us not being first cousins, but suddenly he stopped coming to them. It
didn t matter if it was a family get together, birthday, Christmas, or anything else, he would never
show up. This made it impossible for me to ever see him. However, then I found out that he d be
coming with us on the cruise. To be honest, at first I didn t care much because I thought he wouldn t
associate with me much, but I was entirely wrong.
It was the third day on the cruise and my cousin had been previously with the uncles the first two
days. He knocked on my room door with me and my other cousin Dave inside. I answered, and right
away he asked the both of us Yo what do you guys want to do? At first I was shocked that he was here,

Abraham Lincoln s The Argument Against The War
Destiny Hellyer
Hist 1301
Abraham Lincoln Condemns the War with Mexico, 1848
1) What is Abraham Lincoln s main argument against the war?
When Lincoln was a Congressman in the House of Representatives, during his short term, he loudly
opposed the Mexican war held in 1846. His main argument was that the war was unconstitutional and
unnecessary and was based on a lie. He faced severe criticism from fellow Whigs including other
congressmen for raising voice against the USA intervention in the Mexican territory and promotion of
slavery there. This was against the popular President James Polk s moves to acquire lands under USA
control. Lincoln thought it was unjust and tyrannous.
2) What evidence does Lincoln use to support his anti war argument?
Lincoln believed that Polk had invaded Mexico based on a lie. So he questioned the President Polk s
intent of going to war which was based on Mexico crossing national borders in order to draw first
blood in the US soil. He challenged Polk in the House floor to prove the claim of waging the Mexican
war by providing evidence and facts in a fair and just manner. Lincoln emphasized that Polk should
not resort to rhetoric, evasions, and arguments and should be precise and transparent in presenting the
facts that led to the war.
1) Mexico was declared independent in 1821 following a series of revolts and political turmoil due to
Spanish colonial rule. The independent land of Mexico sought to secure its borders against illegal

Harrington called Matt Hollis and described their offer to him, because they consider Matt would be

The Supermarket Company is the financial founding of this plan, at the same time their willingness is

Basically, Bill Harrington has the same interest of his company, because he is responsible for the
development of Supermarket in the Midwest, so that makes him have the legal and voting power in
this case. 5. Local government and police

No Need To Call By Sherry Turgle Summary
Digital Technology Help or Hinder? Sherry Turkle, a professor and director of the MIT Initiative on
Technology and Self, wrote an essay called No Need To Call to talk about her research on cell phones
and social life. She goes in depth into a few lives of those who use their cell phones frequently and
those who avoid it. Turkle starts off her essay by talking about Elaine, a seventeen year old. Elaine
acknowledges the use of texting within her generation, she states It s only on the screen that shy
people open up. (373). Elaine then follows this by speaking of the ability to pause and think before
you send a message. You have more time to think before you say something, unlike in person or on the
phone. Turkle then reflects on this teen s analysis, she says, Elaine is right in her analysis: teenagers
flee the telephone. Perhaps more surprisingly, so do adults. (374).
Turkle explains that adults flee the telephone because they are busy, and don t want to give their full
attention (375). She brings Tara, a fifty five year old woman, into the view. Tara avoids the telephone

Civil War Reconstruction Dbq Essay
During the time period of 1860 and 1877 many major changes occurred. From the beginning of the
civil war to the fall of the reconstruction, the United States changed dramatically. Nearly one hundred
years after the Declaration of Independence which declared all men equal, many social and
constitutional alterations were necessary to protect the rights of all people, no matter their race. These
social and constitutional developments that were made during 1860 to 1877 were so drastic it could be
called a revolution.
The election of Abraham Lincoln and the secession of the South led to the outbreak of the civil war.

When blacks were given the right to vote, it was only somewhat successful. Many blacks did use their
new political power to vote as it is shown in Harper s Weekly (Document G), but whites still tried to
stop them. Literacy tests, grandfather clauses, and fear caused by the Ku Klux Klan were used to keep
blacks from exercising their right to vote. Another issue of reconstruction was the banking and
currency system. In an attempt to uniform the currency, Senator John Sherman gave a speech saying
that with a currency and a medium of exchange, we shall have a broader and more generous
nationality (Document B). At the time many states had their own currency and a change needed to be
made to unite the states. A sense of nationality was needed as the nation was in turmoil after the
attempted secession of the South. Reconstruction came to an end in 1877 with the Compromise of
1877. Rutherford Hayes became president for agreeing to end federal support for Southern
Republicans and building a transcontinental railroad. In this compromise he also withdrew troops
from the South. This, along with the rejection of laws protecting blacks from discrimination, brought
reconstruction to an end in 1877.
Many social changes occurred during the time from 1860 to 1877. In the history of the United States,
blacks had been viewed as less than equal to whites. This was clearly shown through the three fifths
compromise which counted slaves as less than an actual

The Effect Of Temperature On Ants
Ants are one of the small sized insects from the family of formicidae which consist of high diversity
on earth. They are found everywhere on earth except in Antarctica, and they have immense impact on
terrestrial ecosystems (Heatwole and Muir, 1989). They are vital in moving and recycling soil and
nutrients. They live in colonies ranging from tens to hundreds of millions in a colony. They
communicate and control their colony by chemical messages.
Animals including, birds and insects occupy different temporal niches by being active during different
specific periods of the year and at specific times of the day (Jayatilaka P et al., 2011). The

The ants were found to be active almost at the same times of the day, even though they were exposed

Pros And Cons Of Anti Political Dynasty In The Philippines

Balbacal, Mikaella C.

Anti political dynasty
Political dynasty is a well known method of politicians in the Philippines wherein the members of the
family is made also a member of the government in order for them to not lose power but to gain more
power. This act is an unfair and unjust because the government is not a business that a family can run
by themselves, but the government is for all and other people should be given chances wherein they
can be the one that leads a community. The government or politics is not a business that can be run by
the generation and the generation of a family, the government is a critical part of a community having
different leaders in every generation and not only one leader that has his or her family in the position
of the government, because the system will not change it will just go on and on and that is not a good

1900s, I think the most serious problem was the high levels of poverty among the American people
(Barnes Bowles, 2014). Though there was racial, discrimination that time, it is evident that the
Americans discriminated each other in through the industrial capitalist power. Why was this problem
more serious than the other problems? The working conditions that time were extreme. The working
environments were unsafe; on the other hand, they were unsanitary ones. More often, they created
incidents that raised the public concerns (Barnes Bowles, 2014). Employers hired children and women

Analysis Of Mountains Beyond Mountains
For my summer reading, I chose to read Mountains Beyond Mountains: the Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer,
a Man Who Would Cure the World. I chose this book without reading the description and mainly
based my selection on the great reviews for this book online as well as the fact that the author, Tracy
Kidder, had won a Pulitzer Prize in the past. Ultimately, this book turned out to be as remarkable as
the reviews stated it was.
2. Paul Farmer had a very unusual upbringing in Massachusetts, Alabama, and Florida. What specific
elements from his childhood and family life prepared Farmer for his current life? How has your
upbringing influenced your own choices and goals in life?
As Kidder discusses Dr. Farmer s childhood, it is easy to see how his nomadic and modest lifestyle
early on helped him adjust to living the life he led in Haiti and around the globe. As a child, Dr.
Farmer not only dealt with moving from state to state, but also having to adjust to different living
conditions ranging from living in a tent to living on bus with his parents and 5 other siblings. Kidder
also focuses in on the work ethic his parents exemplified to him and his five other siblings. They were
all taught to appreciate the little they had and to never be embarrassed for the lack of material objects
they did not (Kidder). Most importantly, his family encouraged Farmer s desire to learn. For example,
when he was just a child, Farmer started a herpetology club where his family stepped in as members

Essay On 12 Ways Spoonies Cope With Chronic Illness
12 Ways Spoonies Cope With the Stress of Chronic Illness
As I ve mentioned in earlier posts, Instagram has become an absolute treasure trove of practical
information for people living with chronic illness. Here are 12 ways spoonies just like you cope with
the stress of living with an invisible illness while having fun at the same time!
Being Stubborn
When living with a chronic illness, stubbornness can be both your best and your worst asset. On the
one hand, you re incredibly determined to not let your condition get the best of you, on the other, you
tend to overdo it.
Still, being tenacious and having a fighting spirit is one of the most effective ways to cope with the
stress of chronic illness.

Using Social Media
Connecting with others who understand exactly what you re going through can be a life saver. There is
a very large and accepting group of people on social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, and
Instagram who continually support each other and help ease the burden of daily pain.
Look for hashtags such as, #spoonie, #chronicillness, #chronicpain, and #chroniclife.
Watching Mindless Movies
Distracting yourself from your pain can be a very healthy way to cope with the stress of living with a
chronic illness.
Watching a movie you don t have to pay attention to, means you have two socially acceptable hours to
stare at one fixed object, let your mind wander, and relax.
(Alternatively, you can get lost in the ridiculous plot and forget your troubles for a while.)
Napping Like It s Your Job
I don t know about you, but napping is, by far, my favorite way to cope with my fatigue, anxiety, and
feelings of overwhelm. When things get to be too much, I slip in my earbuds, turn on some soothing
music, recline in my chair, and take a nap.
Sleeping, like crying, is not a sign of weakness or laziness. It s simple self care, and it s important to
engage in it regularly.
Setting and Accomplishing Small Goals
Another piece of useful advice I got from a fellow spoonie is setting small goals.

Rebellion Against Oppression
How Does Oppression Within Like Water for Chocolate and The House of Bernarda Alba Lead To
Unnatural Consequences?
In both Like Water for Chocolate and The House of Bernarda Alba rebellion against oppression is a
strong theme, with both Tita and Adela struggling to break free of their mother s authoritarianism.
However, it is important to realise that with both characters, the authors are using them to symbolise
their own journeys. Federico Garcia Lorca uses Adela s strong willed fight against Bernarda Alba to
represent the costs of repressing the freedom of others. Likewise, in Like Water for Chocolate, Laura
Esquivel uses Tita s constant battle against Mama Elena to show how women struggle to be heard and
how both men and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Angustias is seen looking at Pepe El Romano, her mother asks is it proper for a woman of your
class to go chasing after a man? She is instantly noticing that her daughter is stepping outside her class
and reining her back in. When Matirio is set to marry Enrique Humanas, Bernarda won t allow it
because her blood will never mix with that of the Humanas family proving that her only real interest is
in class rather than the welfare of her daughters. Mama Elena and Bernarda Alba have different
reasons for oppressing their daughters but both women are equally as keen to enforce their rules. It is
ironic how un natural the ends of oppression are shown to be.
When Tita is brought into the world prematurely after her father s sudden death, Mama Elena is the
opposite of a nurturer, never forging any bond with Tita. Tita develops a relationship with food that
gives her the power to nurture and give outlet to her emotions. Tita rebels against her mother s
authority first through her consorting with Pedro. When Tita receives the news that Pedro is to be
married to Rosaura, her life begins to crumble around her and throughout the novel there are many
times when they meet without Mama Elena s knowledge. Roberto, Rosaura and Pedro s son is a
strong, if not surprising influence in Tita s actions. Roberto forges the bond with Tita that her and her
mother never had and contary to what she had expected she feels an immense tenderness towards the

Cytokines And Antibodies-Protein Synthesis

the release of nuclear antigens. These stimuli begin a reaction that leads to distrupting to other cells in

In individuals with lupus, both B cells and T cells become overactive. The two main consequences of
this increased activity are the production of antibodies that recognize and destroy the body s own cells

Summary Of The Beautiful North
A Journey to the North Into the Beautiful north is an awesome novel that relates they story of Nayeli,
a nineteen years old girl and her three friends that decided to migrate to the United States to hire seven
men to defend their little town from some drug traffickers that arrived to their village. But going north
was not an easy journey for Nayeli and her friends. They have so many trouble on their way to
Tijuana. In this research paper there is a review of the scenes in the Tijuana garbage dump in chapter
12, where immigrants belongings were stolen and they have to face several dangerous situations.
When they arrived to Tijuana, they found out their baggage got lost, and the driver did not respond for
it. So there they are, with no personal belongings and very little money. Luckily, they meet Don
Porfirio and his wife Aracely who offered them a place to sleep. Aracely and Don Porfirio are a
Mixtec Indian couple that come north to Tijuana to find work and earn some money. Nayeli did not
know if she can trust them, but she had no other options. She and her friends accepted the offer and
took the buss with Don Porfirio and Aracely towards, what they described as, a humble home. The bus
stopped near a trash dump. Don Porfirio described the dump as Home . In fact, Urrea relates that
Baptist missionaries have built their home out of old garage doors smuggled in from San Diego. For

Restorative justice is a very complex process in the justice system. It is a positive program that helps
in the aid of victims of crimes. The process for restorative justice is broken down into steps which
map out how the process should take place. According to Johnstone, Restorative justice is the theory
that justice aids the victim and emphasizes the repair of harm caused by unjust or harmful behavior. In
my opinion the restorative justice process is a great accomplishment to the justice system. Restorative

Theme Of Rape Of The Lock
Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost all the
characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. In the The Rape of the Lock there is an
invocation to Muses, intention of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, and journey on water,
underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a
simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand action of a low subject produces
comical laughter and makes the story more absurd. Instead of magnificent passions and great fights
between heroes in which the immortals take part, we see the theme of The Rape of the Lock as a
minor passionate quarrel assisted by the spirits of the air. The ... Show more content on

In the poem Rape of the Lock, Pope has introduced the episodes of the game of Omber which suggests
the powerful battle and the cards involve the soldiers described in great detail. There is also the battle
between lords and ladies just like the battle in epic poem. But in mock epic this battle is fought with
fans and snuff instead of with swords and spears. There are single fight between Belinda and Baron
and between Clarissa and Sir Plume. Another very important element of an epic is the active
participation of supernatural machinery like god and goddesses. In The Rape of the Lock, there are
sylphs and gnomes. These aerial spirits are small and unimportant things and are therefore, exactly in
keeping with the triviality of the theme. These aerial spirits guards the person of the heroine that is
Belinda and when there is fight between the flowers of Belinda and those of the Baron, they take part
in the fight like god and goddesses in war. Pope described the protecting sylph under Ariel. In that the
sylphs are the lampoon of epic deities. A long dangerous journey on water is a must in an epic. Here in
the poem The Rape of the Lock , Belinda takes a relaxed journey on water without any stress and
danger. She travels up the Thames in a boat to join Hampton Court to play the game of card Omber

Integration Between Peasant And Elite Populations
Over the years, the ever evolving gastronomic identity that resulted from the fluid integration between

Religion is a major theme in the life of Pi. Pi becomes a Christian, and a Muslim throughout his

immense love he has for god. However, Pi s strong faith in god becomes much less prominent when

his religious ones. He still worships his gods, however is occasionally. Whenever he finds a fish or any
source of food, he thanks his gods. For example when he reached the carnivorous island, he thanked
god like crazy(page 233). However, he later discovered that it was a man eating island. I think the
author included this to show that Pi is continuing to lose his faith in god, and after this discovery he
has lost even more confidence in god. This shows signs of doubt in Pi s mind, he doesn t understand
what he should thank god for. Does this mean he completely lost his faith in god, not necessarily. He

Critique Of The Cadian Ball
During the late 1800s, many new ideas came with the industrial revolution. With these ideas came
thoughts on how to change the way our sociality was working. Writers especially brought out the
opinions of they these radical ideas, by writing and spreading these ideas. At the Cadian Ball fails to
advocate a change in the social system, by mixing races and classes, but at the same time, and
supports the norm of marring someone of your own class, by have all four of the main characters
marry into the same class.
Within the story all the characters speak the same language, giving everyone an equal ground,
showing that everyone has something in common. During the story the narrator tells us, They
belonged to the younger generation, so preferred to speak English. (Chopin 6). This tells us that they
all speak the same language, with shows that they are all similar, but we can also infer that because
they state that they do this because they are younger, that the older generations, did not do this and
strengthened the divide between classes by speaking different languages.
The Cadian Ball advocates a change in the social class by featuring multi class and race couples, but
does not fully support the statement by having the characters marry others of their class. They talked
low, and laughed softly, as lovers do. (6) Alcee and Calixta are stated as lovers, even though this is the
1800s, there is a mixed race couple, but the story doesn t portray this negative. They also show

The Use Of Corporal Punishment In Schools
All across the US corporal punishment is being given to students as a method of discipline. Corporal
punishment is infliction of pain as a punishment for an offense. Corporal punishment is legal in 19
states in school and at home That means that the government is allowing students to suffer just so they
can learn a lesson. Corporal punishment does not belong in schools because it can hurt students
emotionally/mentally, it shows students discrimination, and can harm students physically. When a
child is hit by a teacher, it can harm them emotionally short and long term. The use of corporal
punishment in schools can make a child more aggressive, defiant, and oppositional (Dupper, CP in US
Public Schools). By hitting a student, the teacher is thinking they are teaching them a lesson but really
they are setting them up to be more defiant once more and be hit again. It is a vicious cycle that will
never end until the student is damaged for the rest of their life. Teachers hit kids because they think it
will help them out in the long run but really it can lead to a number of different things such as anxiety,
hostility, depression, aggression against authorities, teachers, and property. In the teachers mind they
are preventing this student from acting out again but really they can come back and destroy school
property. Also, the teacher may believe that because they hit this student the student will become a
better person but really it makes them so much worse. Lastly, corporal punishment can affect a student
s self image and weaken their social skills (Rollins, Revisiting the Issue). When a student is hit, they
think less of themselves because they believe that the reason they were hit is because they are lesser
than everyone else. They also could stop making new friends and become socially awkward because
they are afraid that everyone will not be their friend just because others were not nice. Teachers do not
understand the consequences that a student must face when he or she is hit by them. Some people may
say that they can go to therapy and get better but most likely the student will still have permanent
emotional damage. Another reason corporal punishment does not belong in school is because it
teaches

Old English sceal, and is cognate with Old Norse skal, German soll, and Dutch zal; these all represent
*skol , the o grade of Indo European *skel . All of these verbs function as auxiliaries in each language,
and represent either simple futurity or necessity. The verb will is cognate with the noun will, of course,
and continues Old English willan, which represents *willjan. It occurs in Old Norse vilja, German
wollen, Dutch willen, Gothic wiljan; it has many relatives outside of Germanic as well, including, for
example, Latin velle to wish for or Polish (West Slavic) ja wolę I would rather / prefer. All of these
forms derive from the e grade or o grade of Indo European *wel , meaning to

Essay On The Iran Deal
The debate around the Iran Deal is a funny thing. Most political debates revolving around foreign
policy focus on typical partisan divides. As a conservative, I may have ideologically been opposed to
much of the Obama era (and Trump era) policy. From the sequence of withdrawal in Iraq to military
sequestration, I wholeheartedly believe that former President Obama s foreign policy was a complete
and utter disaster.
My opposition to the Iran Deal goes far beyond ideology. It is the single most evil thing Obama did
during his eight year tenure. This deal makes America less strong, Israel far less safe, and emboldens
terrorists. For those of you who have forgotten, let s briefly review the main contents of this travesty.
The Obama ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, all of which I have said thus far is not my main objection to the deal. The most nefarious
element of the deal is the billions of dollars given in sanction relief to the American enemy of Iran, the
number one state sponsor of terror. It is hard to fathom the rationale of Obama and his aides when
negotiating this monstrosity. According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Iran will
receive hundreds of billions of dollars to fuel their terror and military regime. And this truth has since
been corroborated. Just last August, details emerged of an apparent scheme between Secretary Kerry s
State Department and Iran, with approximately $1.3 billion in sanction reliefs delivered by plane to
Tehran at the same time four American hostages were released.
No one is disputing the fact that likely over one hundred billion dollars are expected to be dished out
to Iran under the Iran Deal. What is the significance of this? In 2016, the US State Department
declared Iran the number on state sponsor of terrorism. This should surprise no one, as for decades the
brutal Islamic Republic has waged war against America and Israel. Secretary Kerry himself admitted,
back in January 2016, that some of it will end up in the hands of the IRGC or other entities, some of
which are labeled terrorists. Anti semitic (and anti American) terrorist groups such as Hamas and
Hezbollah, which are insistent on waging destruction

The Carlton Family Analysis
The Carlton family is your average, everyday family. Carl and Carla Carlton live in Topeka, Kansas
with their four year old daughter, Carly. Carly isn t exactly your ordinary child. She is just a little
rambunctious. This makes everyday tasks a little more difficult.
It s Thanksgiving morning, and Carla needs to prepare for their dinner. Since Carly is so boisterous,
Carl is sent out unattended to pick up the perfect pumpkin for a perfect pumpkin pie.
As he s driving to the Topeka pumpkin patch, he sees a really cheap pumpkin vendor on the side of the
road. He thinks a dollar for a pumpkin is a steal! He drives home satisfied with his purchase.
When Carl arrives home, Carla is ready to make her pumpkin pie. Carla is fulfilled with her husband s

Carla attempts to cut into the pumpkin. As she lowers the knife, the brighter it glows. Her blade draws
closer and closer to the edge of the pumpkin. Her heart is racing as the pumpkin begins to rattle and
shake. The light so intense, it begins to blind her sight.
BOOM!
Carly broke a vase.
Carla takes a deep breath and places the knife on the table. She sweeps the sharp, ceramic shards off
of the floor. Carly, driven towards the luminescent pumpkin, skips over to it and takes a bite out of the
side. Carla doesn t seem to notice Carly is near the pumpkin. Carly rushes to her mother s side, and
apologizes for the mess she made. Carla doesn t think a thing of it until she notices Carly has a sinister
gleam to her eyes. Carla accepts the apology, and decides to ignore Carly s facial expression. Carly
offers help, and Carla accepts.
They return to the table. Carla doesn t know what to do. Her pumpkin pie is everyone s favorite
dessert at Thanksgiving dinner. She decides to cut it open, no matter the consequences. She picks up
the blade once again, and Carly does the same. Carla draws near the pumpkin, while the light and
rattling comes into place. As Carla penetrates the pumpkin, she feels the same in her left side. She
looks down at Carly, and realizes she should ve listened to her

Poverty On Poverty
Impacts of Poverty on Single Mothers
Poverty happens everywhere around the world and most people think that getting to that point would
never happen to them. Women who are single moms get hit the most. A man s standard living after
leaving his kid and significant other rises 10%, while a woman s standard of living drops 27%. Most
people that are single mothers or even single parents in general suffer the most and can t afford any
type of insurance and have to somehow afford even a house. Because of the amount of people who
can t afford health insurance, 18,000 americans die because of the lack of health insurance they can t
afford. Poverty happens everywhere in the world and these three single mothers had a difficult time
and had to struggle for what they wanted.
Jean is a 51 year old certified nursing assistant who is a single mother also. She has three kids but had
to take in two more because of the children s living conditions and two more because of her daughters
kids. She protests that even after 14 years of working at the same place she still makes only $11 an
hour. The annual salary that a nursing assistant may get is $26,590, which could or couldn t include
benefits. Even though Jean is helping people and needs a ton of training in this area, she still makes
less than a garbage worker makes. Even with the low paying, the job becomes very depressing
because the workers are repeatedly working long hours doing the same thing and it soon becomes
depressing working on

A General History Of The Pyrates Essay
How does this document illustrate the general themes of the course in so far as the practice of piracy is
concerned?
In his 1724 novel A General History of the Pyrates, Daniel Defoe tells the tale of two female, cross
dressing pirates, Mary Read and Anne Bonny. The Adventures of Mary Read and Anne Bonny
illustrate a series of common themes of the practice of piracy. Daniel Defoe s novel A General History
of the Pyrates tells the tales of history s most notorious pirates, including figures such as Captain
Teach (the notorious Blackbeard) and Captain Rackham, the Captain under which Mary Read and
Anne Bonny sailed under. Mary Read was born in England, the illegitimate child of a Naval widow;
Anne Bonny was born in Ireland, in a town near Cork. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many sources mention women dressing as men on ships, mostly for convenience. However, women
on ships was not an unusual sight, and the number of women that were described to be on ships makes
it difficult to believe that these women spent their entire time on the deck of their ships dressed as men
(Lecture 9). The use of mens clothing while fighting is understandable, as it is much more practical.
This in itself suggests that the accounts of people who witnessed women wearing mens clothing are
primarily from those who saw them during battles. Mary Read would not have been allowed to enter
the navy if she had been discovered a woman, so Defoe s recollection of her story is likely. It is very
difficult however to imagine disguising one s sex for the majority of one s life, on board a ship where
there is very little privacy. It is likely then, that Mary Read and Anne Bonny wore men s clothes while
in battle, and thus it became habit to wear them at other times. The suggestion that Mary s Flemish
husband (whom was not given a name by Defoe) did not discover her sex until he lay with her for the
first time is probably not inaccurate, as homosexuality was rife within the naval

  • 2. Using Graphs And Charts With Color And Good Title Makes... Summary of the Article The authors think using appropriate graphs or charts with color and good title makes audience easy to understand the contents. First, choosing correct graphs and charts. Each graph and chart has a different function. For example, Pie chart shows the percentage of a whole. Understanding the function of graphs and charts is important to tell messages. Second, using color. They think the foregrounding color for texts must opposite color to the background color, because audience can read and understand the main points easily. Third, deciding preferable title. Title should be simple and help the audience to get to the point of graph and chart. The authors say using graphs and charts is also useful in a document. However, people should put them with introduction to make readers understand what they mean, and put them near the arguments to emphasize the point. People shouldn t use many of graphs and charts because they give audience less impression (Lynch and Golen, 2002). Evaluating Web Source I think the article is not a research study, because the authors don t show any data, so I use a way of Evaluating Web Sources. Newman (2013) describes five categories: Authority, Accuracy and Reliability, Purpose/Objectivity, Coverage, and Currency (P292). Authority The article is very authoritative. • 3. The Sixth Amendment And The Sixth Amendment Introduction Literature Review Questions concerning pretrial exposure center on the tension between two guaranteed rights in the United States, the First Amendment and the Sixth Amendment to the Constitution. The First Amendment allows the press to print, while the Sixth Amendment promises a speedy and public trial, that an unbiased and impartial panel directs. When the press exposes a current investigation, including prior convictions, or admissions, a panel, or select representatives on a panel, would be exposed. In Ruva Guenther s (2017) experiment, researchers examined how a panel s memories, evidence interpretations, perceptions and guilt decisions varied when pretrial exposure was present. It was determined that representatives on a panel who were exposed would pass their bias onto other representatives not exposed prior. Given the strong constitutional protections that the press possesses, courts need to manage chances where pretrial exposure is present. Purpose Research Question In dismissing representatives on a panel, we assume that pretrial exposure determines their conscious decisions. With that being said, we expect a representative on a panel to know that pretrial exposure could determine their decisions, and to know how to isolate this in deliberation. Dating back to Nisbett and Wilson s experiment in the 1970 s, decisions were determined in the unconscious, but what determined these decisions or biases, even when biases in decisions were mentioned, was unsure, (Newell Shanks, 2014). In other words, one knows that biases could determine decisions, but not theirs. This so called bias blind spot is common in deliberation. The ultimate question is, what is there to do concerning pretrial exposure while selecting an unbiased and impartial panel? Proposition Voir dire is intended to determine whether representatives on a panel were exposed to pretrial exposure. Dismissing representatives on a panel who were exposed to pretrial bias is unrealistic. To combat issues concerning pretrial exposure, as well as bias, counsel will de bias mock representatives, as a means to de bias perceptions and decisions, as a solution. De biasing will result in more reasoned and less automatic decisions. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ritalin Abuse The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) first licensed methylphenidate hydrochloride in 1955 for treating what was formerly known as hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder or ADD. The drug was commonly prescribed in the 1990s when the diagnosis of ADHD became better known and accepted. In 2000, Janssen Pharmaceuticals received approval from the FDA to market Concerta, an extended release form of Ritalin. Approximately two thirds of 6.4 million children presently diagnosed have been prescribed drugs like Ritalin or Adderall (another common CNS stimulant). First synthesized in 1944, the Ritalin formula (at that time commonly known as MPH, from methylphenidate) was improved in 1950, and by 1954 it was being tested on humans. In 1957, Ciba Pharmaceutical Company began marketing MPH as Ritalin to treat chronic fatigue, depression, psychosis associated with depression, narcolepsy, and to offset the sedating effects of other medications. It was used into the 1960s to try to counteract the symptoms of barbiturate overdose. Ritalin has a high potential for abuse when injected it may produce feelings of euphoria. Those who misuse Ritalin increase the amphetamine like effects by crushing the tablets into a powder and snorting it or dissolving it in water for intravenous injection. ... The melting point ranges were measured by observing the temperatures in which the substances began and completed liquefying in the Stuart SMP10 Melting Point Apparatus. The melting points ranges of pure naphthalene, urea, cinnamic acid, sulfanilamide, 4 toluic acid, and anthracene were 82 82, 132 133, 134 135, 164 166,183 184, and 216 219°C. Melting points were obtained for urea cinnamic acid mixtures. The melting point ranges of 1:4. 1:1, and 4:1 mixtures of urea cinnamic acid by mass were 103 113, 103 104, and 107 127°C respectively. Finally, the melting point ranges for unknown substance A were around 134 136°C and the ranges for unknown substance B were around 135 139°C. • 7. Ayn Rand s Arguments Psychological And Ethical Egoism Psychological and Ethical Egoism Topic 2: Humans tend to help others to benefit themselves rather than the person s actual needs. It has been said that everyone is selfish in everything that they do. Psychological egoism states this very theory. It says that humans are motivated by self interest to help others, even in cases of altruism. Ethical egoism however, states that people ought to do what is in their self interest. This differs from psychological egoism since that is what humans do selfishly to help others. When we help people in need are we really helping them to better themselves, or rather we are doing so we feel better about ourselves? There are two arguments in favor of psychological egoism. When Lincoln was a Congressman in the House of Representatives, during his short term, he loudly opposed the Mexican war held in 1846. His main argument was that the war was unconstitutional and unnecessary and was based on a lie. He faced severe criticism from fellow Whigs including other congressmen for raising voice against the USA intervention in the Mexican territory and promotion of slavery there. This was against the popular President James Polk s moves to acquire lands under USA control. Lincoln thought it was unjust and tyrannous. 2) What evidence does Lincoln use to support his anti war argument? Lincoln believed that Polk had invaded Mexico based on a lie. So he questioned the President Polk s intent of going to war which was based on Mexico crossing national borders in order to draw first blood in the US soil. He challenged Polk in the House floor to prove the claim of waging the Mexican war by providing evidence and facts in a fair and just manner. Lincoln emphasized that Polk should not resort to rhetoric, evasions, and arguments and should be precise and transparent in presenting the facts that led to the war. 1) Mexico was declared independent in 1821 following a series of revolts and political turmoil due to Spanish colonial rule. Many blacks did use their new political power to vote as it is shown in Harper s Weekly (Document G), but whites still tried to stop them. Literacy tests, grandfather clauses, and fear caused by the Ku Klux Klan were used to keep blacks from exercising their right to vote. Another issue of reconstruction was the banking and currency system. In an attempt to uniform the currency, Senator John Sherman gave a speech saying that with a currency and a medium of exchange, we shall have a broader and more generous nationality (Document B). At the time many states had their own currency and a change needed to be made to unite the states. A sense of nationality was needed as the nation was in turmoil after the attempted secession of the South. Reconstruction came to an end in 1877 with the Compromise of 1877. Rutherford Hayes became president for agreeing to end federal support for Southern Republicans and building a transcontinental railroad. In this compromise he also withdrew troops from the South. This, along with the rejection of laws protecting blacks from discrimination, brought reconstruction to an end in 1877. Many social changes occurred during the time from 1860 to 1877. I chose this book without reading the description and mainly based my selection on the great reviews for this book online as well as the fact that the author, Tracy Kidder, had won a Pulitzer Prize in the past. Ultimately, this book turned out to be as remarkable as the reviews stated it was. 2. Paul Farmer had a very unusual upbringing in Massachusetts, Alabama, and Florida. What specific elements from his childhood and family life prepared Farmer for his current life? How has your upbringing influenced your own choices and goals in life? As Kidder discusses Dr. Farmer s childhood, it is easy to see how his nomadic and modest lifestyle early on helped him adjust to living the life he led in Haiti and around the globe. As a child, Dr. Farmer not only dealt with moving from state to state, but also having to adjust to different living conditions ranging from living in a tent to living on bus with his parents and 5 other siblings. Kidder also focuses in on the work ethic his parents exemplified to him and his five other siblings. They were all taught to appreciate the little they had and to never be embarrassed for the lack of material objects they did not (Kidder). Most importantly, his family encouraged Farmer s desire to learn. For example, when he was just a child, Farmer started a herpetology club where his family stepped in as members ... In the The Rape of the Lock there is an invocation to Muses, intention of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, and journey on water, underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand action of a low subject produces comical laughter and makes the story more absurd. In the poem Rape of the Lock, Pope has introduced the episodes of the game of Omber which suggests the powerful battle and the cards involve the soldiers described in great detail. There is also the battle between lords and ladies just like the battle in epic poem. But in mock epic this battle is fought with fans and snuff instead of with swords and spears. There are single fight between Belinda and Baron and between Clarissa and Sir Plume. Another very important element of an epic is the active participation of supernatural machinery like god and goddesses. In The Rape of the Lock, there are sylphs and gnomes. These aerial spirits are small and unimportant things and are therefore, exactly in keeping with the triviality of the theme. These aerial spirits guards the person of the heroine that is Belinda and when there is fight between the flowers of Belinda and those of the Baron, they take part in the fight like god and goddesses in war. Pope described the protecting sylph under Ariel. In that the sylphs are the lampoon of epic deities. A long dangerous journey on water is a must in an epic. Although many national stereotypes exist today from the macaroni eaters, to the red sauce that accompanies pasta, these can be explained by the exchange and the influence that globalization has on culture. For example when he reached the carnivorous island, he thanked god like crazy(page 233). However, he later discovered that it was a man eating island. I think the author included this to show that Pi is continuing to lose his faith in god, and after this discovery he has lost even more confidence in god. This shows signs of doubt in Pi s mind, he doesn t understand what he should thank god for. Does this mean he completely lost his faith in god, not necessarily. • 36. Critique Of The Cadian Ball During the late 1800s, many new ideas came with the industrial revolution. With these ideas came thoughts on how to change the way our sociality was working. Writers especially brought out the opinions of they these radical ideas, by writing and spreading these ideas. At the Cadian Ball fails to advocate a change in the social system, by mixing races and classes, but at the same time, and supports the norm of marring someone of your own class, by have all four of the main characters marry into the same class. Within the story all the characters speak the same language, giving everyone an equal ground, showing that everyone has something in common. During the story the narrator tells us, They belonged to the younger generation, so preferred to speak English. (Chopin 6). This tells us that they all speak the same language, with shows that they are all similar, but we can also infer that because they state that they do this because they are younger, that the older generations, did not do this and strengthened the divide between classes by speaking different languages. The Cadian Ball advocates a change in the social class by featuring multi class and race couples, but does not fully support the statement by having the characters marry others of their class. They talked low, and laughed softly, as lovers do. • 38. The Use Of Corporal Punishment In Schools All across the US corporal punishment is being given to students as a method of discipline. Corporal punishment is infliction of pain as a punishment for an offense. Corporal punishment is legal in 19 states in school and at home That means that the government is allowing students to suffer just so they can learn a lesson. Corporal punishment does not belong in schools because it can hurt students emotionally/mentally, it shows students discrimination, and can harm students physically. When a child is hit by a teacher, it can harm them emotionally short and long term. The use of corporal punishment in schools can make a child more aggressive, defiant, and oppositional (Dupper, CP in US Public Schools). By hitting a student, the teacher is thinking they are teaching them a lesson but really they are setting them up to be more defiant once more and be hit again. It is a vicious cycle that will never end until the student is damaged for the rest of their life. Teachers hit kids because they think it will help them out in the long run but really it can lead to a number of different things such as anxiety, hostility, depression, aggression against authorities, teachers, and property. In the teachers mind they are preventing this student from acting out again but really they can come back and destroy school property. Also, the teacher may believe that because they hit this student the student will become a better person but really it makes them so much worse. Lastly, corporal punishment can affect a student s self image and weaken their social skills (Rollins, Revisiting the Issue). When a student is hit, they think less of themselves because they believe that the reason they were hit is because they are lesser than everyone else. They also could stop making new friends and become socially awkward because they are afraid that everyone will not be their friend just because others were not nice. Teachers do not understand the consequences that a student must face when he or she is hit by them. Some people may say that they can go to therapy and get better but most likely the student will still have permanent emotional damage. Both shall and will are verbs of ancient Germanic ancestry. In Proto Indo European, an inflected future tense existed, but that tense was lost in Germanic. In all Germanic languages, the future tense is formed with auxiliary verbs; this was the case in Gothic and the earliest recorded expressions of Germanic languages. The verb shall represents Old English sceal, and is cognate with Old Norse skal, German soll, and Dutch zal; these all represent *skol , the o grade of Indo European *skel . All of these verbs function as auxiliaries in each language, and represent either simple futurity or necessity. The verb will is cognate with the noun will, of course, and continues Old English willan, which represents *willjan. It occurs in Old Norse vilja, German wollen, Dutch willen, Gothic wiljan; it has many relatives outside of Germanic as well, including, for example, Latin velle to wish for or Polish (West Slavic) ja wolę I would rather / prefer. As a conservative, I may have ideologically been opposed to much of the Obama era (and Trump era) policy. My opposition to the Iran Deal goes far beyond ideology. It is the single most evil thing Obama did during his eight year tenure. The most nefarious element of the deal is the billions of dollars given in sanction relief to the American enemy of Iran, the number one state sponsor of terror. It is hard to fathom the rationale of Obama and his aides when negotiating this monstrosity. According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Iran will receive hundreds of billions of dollars to fuel their terror and military regime. And this truth has since been corroborated. Just last August, details emerged of an apparent scheme between Secretary Kerry s State Department and Iran, with approximately $1.3 billion in sanction reliefs delivered by plane to Tehran at the same time four American hostages were released. No one is disputing the fact that likely over one hundred billion dollars are expected to be dished out to Iran under the Iran Deal. What is the significance of this? In 2016, the US State Department declared Iran the number on state sponsor of terrorism. This should surprise no one, as for decades the brutal Islamic Republic has waged war against America and Israel. Secretary Kerry himself admitted, back in January 2016, that some of it will end up in the hands of the IRGC or other entities, some of which are labeled terrorists. In his 1724 novel A General History of the Pyrates, Daniel Defoe tells the tale of two female, cross dressing pirates, Mary Read and Anne Bonny. The Adventures of Mary Read and Anne Bonny illustrate a series of common themes of the practice of piracy. Daniel Defoe s novel A General History of the Pyrates tells the tales of history s most notorious pirates, including figures such as Captain Teach (the notorious Blackbeard) and Captain Rackham, the Captain under which Mary Read and Anne Bonny sailed under. Many sources mention women dressing as men on ships, mostly for convenience. However, women on ships was not an unusual sight, and the number of women that were described to be on ships makes it difficult to believe that these women spent their entire time on the deck of their ships dressed as men (Lecture 9). The use of mens clothing while fighting is understandable, as it is much more practical. This in itself suggests that the accounts of people who witnessed women wearing mens clothing are primarily from those who saw them during battles. Mary Read would not have been allowed to enter the navy if she had been discovered a woman, so Defoe s recollection of her story is likely. It is very difficult however to imagine disguising one s sex for the majority of one s life, on board a ship where there is very little privacy. It is likely then, that Mary Read and Anne Bonny wore men s clothes while in battle, and thus it became habit to wear them at other times. The suggestion that Mary s Flemish husband (whom was not given a name by Defoe) did not discover her sex until he lay with her for the first time is probably not inaccurate, as homosexuality was rife within the naval ...
