3.3 Understanding certain directions, suggestions & simple instructions.
3.7 Reading a short familiar text & demonstrating comprehension by appropriate fluency, stress, intonation, sense groups, etc.
Operational Objectives (K,S,A):
 to talk about Christmas preparations;
 to learn new vocabulary on the topic Christmas;
 to read the text and answer the questions;
 to stimulate students imagination and creativity;
 to sing a carol.
Resources (materials used):
 Textbooks, copybooks, posters, worksheets with different activities, photos, PPT presentation, Christmas tree.

Lesson Plan Subject: English Form: III rd Date: 23. 12. 2011 Teacher: Vacari Dorina School: Gymnasium Nr. 2, town Drochia Topic: Christmas Is Coming Type of lesson: teaching- learning Specific Competences & Sub-Competences: 2.4 Producing a simple questions & answers about preparations for Christmas on the basis of spoken models.. 3.3 Understanding certain directions, suggestions & simple instructions. 3.7 Reading a short familiar text & demonstrating comprehension by appropriate fluency, stress, intonation, sense groups, etc. Operational Objectives (K,S,A):  to talk about Christmas preparations;  to learn new vocabulary on the topic Christmas;  to read the text and answer the questions;  to stimulate students imagination and creativity;  to sing a carol. Resources (materials used):  Textbooks, copybooks, posters, worksheets with different activities, photos, PPT presentation, Christmas tree. Strategies: 1. Methods:  Communicative, Competency-based. 2. Techniques:  Spider gram, crossword, games, exercises, conversation. 3. Forms of activities:  Group work, individual work, whole class work Time of lesson: 45 minutes

T ask pupils to solve the jigsaw puzzle & then to express opinions about the obtained picture. Ss greet the T with a short poem & answer the T’s questions. Pupils arrange the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle & obtain a Christmas picture. They describe the picture. T – Ss Ss – T T-Ss Ss-T -speaking -listening -speaking Jigsaw puzzle -to create a relaxed atmosphere for the lesson -to capture pupils attention Whole class work Group work 1 min 2 min Checking the Homework T remembers the homework: Ex 2, 3, 6, p. 46-47, W/B. T asks Ss to review it quickly to make sure there were no problems with solving it at home. T corrects the mistakes, if any. Some Ss read their homework. T – Ss Ss - T -speaking -reading Workbooks -to check the homework -to correct the mistakes Whole class work 4 min Motivation for the new lesson Linking the old lesson with the new one: Which are winter’s months? What do we celebrate in December? When do we decorate the Christmas tree? Ss give answers to the teacher`s questions.   • 3. REALIZATION OF MEANING T announces the topic of the lesson (written on the blackboard) & its objectives. Ss open their notebooks and write down the title of the lesson. T – Ss -speaking -writing Copybooks -to present the new topic; -to find out more information on the topic. Whole class work 1 min Vocabulary work T introduces the new vocabulary using flash cards & real objects. T asks Ss to form sentences using the new words. Ss listen, repeat, read & write the words in their vocabularies. Ss make up sentences. T-Ss Ss-T -listening -reading -writing -speaking Vocabularies Flash cards Bells stockings Christmas tree -to learn the new vocabu- lary of the lesson; Whole class work Individual work 4 min Presentation of the new knowledge Pre-reading activity T presents some information about celebrating Christmas in England & the USA, about traditions related to this holiday & asks Ss about the way they celebrate Christmas. (T & Ss can use Romanian.) Ss listen to the teacher & speak about Christmas traditions in their families. T-Ss Ss-T -speaking Picture -to present some Christmas traditions in England & the USA Whole class work Conversation 3 min Reading activity T reads the text from page 49 & Ss listen to her, then she asks them to repeat by one sentence. Chain reading of the text. Ss listen to the T & repeat after her the sentences of the text. Ss read by one sentence.
