Lic. Ivonne Elizabeth Pinillos Nieto
DEVELOPMENT (80 minutes)
 Teacher divides the class into groups of 4 or 5 in each group and gives
instructions telling them it is a group writing activity.
 The teacher shows the whole class her personal photos and put them on a desk
and asks a couple of members in each group to come up and select 1 photo per
group they would like to talk and write about.
 In groups, they write down at the top of a flipchart paper 10 words they can see
from the photo. (a list)
 Then these lists and photos are moved around the class to new groups so that
each group has a list from another group. Students check the lists and look for
things in the photo and check spelling, punctuation, etc. until the lists are in the
original groups.
 Teacher monitors and manages but doesn’t intervene.
 Each group now writes a sentence or two about each picture but they use past
simple and the list of words they have.
 Teacher moves the photos and texts around the class and each time the groups
have to look at what is written, check it for errors and add more to the texts.
 Teacher sticks the flipchart papers on the board and starts to write a model
text with the students help.
 Students and teacher give feedback on content but include errors of vocabulary,
grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.
