This 40-minute lesson plan aims to teach students to use "there is/there are" in affirmative and negative forms. Decode regularly spelled one-syllable words.
Primary Objective: Given one short vowel, one syllable word (ex. Dog), the student will be able to correctly match seven rhyming words out of a list of ten words with the original word provided.
Diversity: There are two students with ADHD that have IEP’s, and one student of Hispanic background with limited English proficiency. The students with ADHD will benefit greatly with the hands-on materials provided by this lesson and the songs and audio materials will be useful for the LEP student in order to see and hear the words in English.
Differentiation: Auditory: Students will be given the opportunity to listen to the short vowel words and hear how the one syllable words make rhyming patterns in the reading.
Visual: The students will be able to visualize the rhyming words when placed on the whiteboard and can identify the similarities between each short vowel word.
Tactile: Students who learn best tactilely will benefit from the use of hands-on materials, such as letter blocks and tiles to form the rhyming words.
Kinesthetic: Students will have bigger letter blocks to form the short vowel words and can physically move each block around to form the correct letter pattern.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

and negative form. Also they will use the new vocabulary and the language
classroom that will be presented during the class.
Materials: Audio tracks, photocopies, markers, charts, paper, pictures, and English
book.
Activities of learning
WARM UP
To introduce myself and explaining to the students the guidelines of the course,
giving extra information about the way we will work during my teaching practice.
MOTIVATION
To give students additional information about the topic using pictures,
conversations, photocopies in order to make the class interesting.
WORK AREAS + LEARNING
Students will write their names in a piece of paper and then, they will
introduce themselves one by one in order to know all my students names.
Students will study the verb of existence There is/are.
2. To present Ss the topic through the charts and pictures, using vocabulary
that is easy for them.
Students will listen a conversation “I’m your new neighbor”-Interchange third
edition, intro-track No.24, then they will work in pairs and will repeat the
conversation with their partners.

Rules:
We use there is/are to say that something exists (or doesn’t exist): The real
subject usually comes after there is/are.
1. Use “there is” for singular nouns and things you cannot count.
Examples:
- There is a spider on the wall.
- There is sugar on the floor.
- There is an apple on the table.
- There is a river in my country.
2. Use of “there are” for plural nouns; that is to say, we use “there are” with
plural subjects.
Examples:
- There are pencils on my desk.
- There are seven students in the classroom.
- There are two pairs of shoes in my closet.
3. 3. To say the opposite (negative) we use “is not/ are not”.
Examples:
- There isn’t a telephone in the kitchen.
- There isn’t an orange on the table.
- There aren’t two pictures on the all.
