1. Looking back at my preliminary task, I have learnt that that my
magazine needed to consist of a good colour scheme that needs to
attract the customer eye and link to the genre of the magazine in order
for them to notice the magazine and be interested in what it has to
offer when comparing my fonts I used a much better font on my real
production that consisted of those things, where as in my preliminary
task, my fonts were boring and didn’t consist of these things overall
making the magazine look dull. I have also learned that my magazine
has to include appropriate models that relate to the genre and both
intrigue and catch the customer eye although the model on my
preliminary task included an appropriate model (a student) it still
didn’t compliment the rest of the features on the magazine.
I also learnt that I needed to use a range of computer techniques in
order to create a range of effects on the actual magazine such as creating shapes and
banners for example, I used a banner on both my preliminary task and my actual
production but I used it in a more effective way on my production as I included
information in the banner that was relevant to the page such as the ‘exclusive gossip
only at boom’ in the banner on the contents
page. This message was obviously referring to
the content on the contents page.
Also effects on the photos I use like changing
the colour of the picture and stretching back
grounds. Looking at my preliminary task, I
didn’t use a range of computer techniques to
create better features to go on the magazine.
For the progression of the magazine, I have
learnt that we need start off with researching
about what you want your magazine to be about
and looking at other examples for inspiration,
you also need to research about features that you
want to include in your magazine and perhaps get inspiration from other magazines
for that as well. You also need to plan what you are going to do including what you
want to include in your magazine so for example deciding if you want to do an
interview on your double page spread or just simply information about a genre or an
2. artist you also need to decide on a suitable colour scheme to go with the theme of
your magazine.
Then finally, you need to start the actual production of the magazine which is putting
all your researching and planning together, by using sites like Photoshop and
InDesign you can achieve the look that you have been planning for.
