What have you learnt
about technologies from
          the process of
       constructing this
               product?
                By Kiera Garrison
Technology
 I created my front cover and contents page on Adobe
Photoshop. It helped me to create backgrounds and put
effects on my text by using the blending option. I found
this very useful because I was able to create different
layers which helped my put all parts that are on my front
cover and contents together but still being able to edit
every little detail. I was able to crop around images that
didn’t have a suitable background to keep, it also helped
make the image stand out alone which made the model
seem like the topic of the magazine. To make things more
visible than others I was bale to change the opacity which
enabled me to make things more see through.
 I used Adobe InDesign to create my double page spread.
This helped me layout all parts of this page how I wanted
and I was able to see if the pages worked and looked
  realistic.
Technology
 I have used wordpress to create my own blog space for
other peers to view what I have done as it allows me to
post all my recent work on. I am able to customize it to
the type of genre of my magazine and it allows me to
create separate pages for different types of work.
 I have use Slideshare and Prezi as they allow me to
present my work in a different way which shows of my
  excellent ICT skills.
 As I created some of my text on the internet it is made
my research skills a lot better as I was able to find a
website to which helped me create the text that I
needed which meant that the text looked more like the
genre of the music as well as the masthead which
  looked very abstract.
Before and After front cover
picture using Adobe Photoshop
 This is the image I used on my front
cover. As I used Photoshop to edit this
image it allowed me to erase thing, crop
around the image and change the colour
of the image. To crop around the image
I used a pen tool which allowed my to
go around the edge of the model and
created a line, to delete the surround I
inversed the selected line and pressed
Ctrl +D which left me with just the
model alone. To erase certain parts of
the image such as the bra straps I used
the smudge tool when eventually got rid
of this. I used this tool because I was
comfortable with it which is why it was
successful. To change the colour of the
image I had to click on image on the bar
at the top of the Photoshop document,
    then adjustments, then curves. When
this box came up I was able to move
something which either made the image
darker or lighter, I made the image
darker as it made the model darker
which made the colours on her dress
look brighter. I also changed the colour
of her lips by using the pen tool,
colouring them in, changing an option to
Linear burn and changed the opacity to
    about 25%.
Before and After contents page and double
page spread pictures using Adobe Photoshop
 To change these image I
    cropped out the background
    and made the lips have
    more colour. I cropped out
    the background by using
the pen tool and I made the
    lips have more colour by
    using the pen tool and
    coloured over the models
    lips red, changed an option
    to Linear burn and changed
the opacity to about 55%. I
    also flipped the contents
    page image horizontally as I
felt that it didn’t fit the
    page correctly in its original
    form.
The different fonts I created using
    the internet.
 As you can see there are a
range of fonts here that I
    have created on the internet.
I think that they are all very
    successful as they suit the
    genre of music my magazine
is which is R&B. I also think
that because there is a range
of fonts which makes it more
    eye catching for the audience
as they will be interested to
look closely at these fonts to
read what they say which will
    make them interested in
buying it. From looking at the
    progression I have made
    through using all this
technology I was able to find
the right way of using the
    technology which helped me
    with this successful outcome.
To conclude,
 I feel that I have learnt so much about
    different technology. By constantly
working on my different products I was
able to learn how to use all different
types of technologies and how to use
the tools involved. I have learnt a lot
but if I carried on practicing using
these different technologies I think my
    skills would further improve.
