What I’ll be presenting today:
 The purpose of my rap/hip hop themed magazine, is to up and coming hip hop
artists based in North London by giving news about upcoming albums and
interviews with these artists. As well as this, I will also include news and
interviews with already popular rap/hip hop artists, in order to ensure that I
will have some sort of an audience.
 the genre of my magazine will be Rap/Hip hop as the audience of this genre is
constantly growing and is one of the famous genres in the world. This genre has
different styles as well as thousands of artists and even more coming through.
 This genre is majority American. American culture is spread all over the world, this
magazine will be mainly American based artists but will include sections for British, up
and coming rappers.
 I chose this because over 50% of Rap stems from America and 39% of Rap is Hispanic
related. This American culture is already being spread into North London for example -
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has a NFL (American football) pitch attracting
Americans into north London. This gives my magazine a massive boost as the stadium
(being the best in the world).
 My magazine will be informative and entertaining. It will entertain with Q&As
and games eg. crosswords. It will be informative as it will include information
about various Rap/Hip hop artists. The magazine will also have interviews as well
as information about upcoming events and performances.
 I will be including a website containing videos of interviews and sneak peaks of
new magazines and future interviews.
 80-90 pages per issue including links to exclusive interviews
 My primary target audience for a hip hop/rap magazine is 15 to 30 year old
middle-low class males. This is because the majority or popular hip hop artists
sing/rap about topics that relate to or inform this demographic such as love
and attraction. As well as this, rap is believed to be on trend and modern, of
which is relatable to this target audience. My secondary audience for a hip hop
magazine is 16 to 25 year old black middle-low class males. This is because
this target audience is quite stereotypically known to primarily listen to this
kind of music, as well as drill/grime which originated in the UK, therefore will
be invested in the magazine.
 These are the following resources and personnel required for this magazine to be successful:
 Resources:
 Camera equipment- In order to have pictures to put into the magazine. Will include camera, tripod, lighting, green screen and microphone.
 Computer with appropriate software- This will be used in order to edit pictures for the magazine such as the front cover and double page spread.
 Wardrobes- Rap artists like to stand out with their fashion, therefore must conform to their needs and give them fashion options
 Basic stationary- Pens, pencils, rulers and notepads for all employees/staff in case they need to urgently write down key information or sketch ideas

 Personnel:
 A graphic designer/photo editor- Is needed in order to have high quality and visually pleasing material for the reader.
 Journalists- In order to interview and get the necessary information for the magazines articles
 An operations director- Will make sure all parts of the company runs smoothly, as well as take care of a publisher of the magazine, health and safety,
and health and safety issues.
 A finance director- To make sure all coming in and out of the business is correct.
 A social media team- To maintain the reputation and tone of the magazine, and also help promote the magazine.
 The online price of the magazine will be first month free, with a
£3.49 monthly subscription of which can be cancelled at any time
a customer wants. The magazine can be accessed by downloading
and creating an account for the app which will be on both android
and IOS software, accessible on phones, tablets and computers.
The print/physical edition of the magazine can either be ordered
to the house of the customer or in a local shop such as Tesco or
Sainsbury's. With given evidence, we will also offer a student
discount to ensure an engaged young audience as that is the
primary audience for hip hop/rap.
 Marketing
 One useful way of marketing and advertising the magazine is through social media. This is
because the majority of people use a range of social media constantly daily, therefore will be
very prone to this advertising. As well as this, the primary and secondary audience of the
magazine roughly come between the ages of 14-29, meaning they will be technological natives
thus have the highest use of social media. The social media platforms that can be used to
advertised is, Twitter, Instagram, Tik-Tok and face-book.
 Distribution
 Ways the magazine will be distributed will be the following: Local newsagents and
supermarkets- In North London, there is a large amount of news agents of which people often
go into to get a snack or a drink, if the magazines are placed in these shops, it means it is easy
to buy and access for readers thus it will get popular. Websites, the magazine will also be
accessible on the magazines website to people who pay the monthly subscription.
 Stadiums are a very good way to distribute products such as magazines as events are held
and you are guaranteed customers, because of this I shall be using stadiums ,such as the
Tottenham hotspur stadium which holds almost 63,000, in which they handout promos for
matches and can sell magazines too.
 What makes my magazine different is it will be a Carbon Zero magazine, this
means my magazine will be produced and distributed in a humane and
environmentally friendly way. The magazine itself will also be recyclable.
 My magazine being Hispanic themed will have a English copy and a Spanish copy
to attract tourists and for when my magazine goes overseas. The website will also
have language options not just those two languages.
Billboard magazine is a
HipHop magazine with a
sleek and sharp style. It
includes a picture of the
artist with their name and a
headline. This magazine has
a nice mix of colours that
match what Usher is
wearing. The magazine
looks professional and eye
catching.
 XXL is a large competitor to my
magazine as it is very popular and
includes some of the same features
my magazine will have e.g. Q’n’A.
The magazine front cover is very bold
with the featured artists name in
colour where everything other than
the magazine title is in black and
white. This magazine also shares a
similar audience as my magazine
will.
 The source is a extremely well known
rap and HipHop magazine featuring
major artists like Tupac , Eminem and
Snoop Dog. This magazine also shares
my magazine audience of 14- 29 year
old. The magazine itself always has its
title extremely bold but makes sure the
artist name is in a different colour or
style. The magazine isn’t very colourful
this should allow my magazine to
stand out if I include bright colour.
 Each issue of my magazine will have a different featured artist on the front cover.
The magazine will contain information and interviews with the featured artist as
well as a possible Q'n'A. The Q'n'A questions will come from the public.
 Most of the artists featured will be up and coming artists from North London this
will help my magazine and the artist gain a reputation and would mean more
artists are willing to feature on my magazine. The artists being from North
London keeps the magazine authentic and attracts London youth as it is relatable.

  • 14. Billboard magazine is a HipHop magazine with a sleek and sharp style. It includes a picture of the artist with their name and a headline. This magazine has a nice mix of colours that match what Usher is wearing. The magazine looks professional and eye catching.
  • 15.  XXL is a large competitor to my magazine as it is very popular and includes some of the same features my magazine will have e.g. Q’n’A. The magazine front cover is very bold with the featured artists name in colour where everything other than the magazine title is in black and white. This magazine also shares a similar audience as my magazine will.
  • 16.  The source is a extremely well known rap and HipHop magazine featuring major artists like Tupac , Eminem and Snoop Dog. This magazine also shares my magazine audience of 14- 29 year old. The magazine itself always has its title extremely bold but makes sure the artist name is in a different colour or style. The magazine isn’t very colourful this should allow my magazine to stand out if I include bright colour.

  • 20.  Each issue of my magazine will have a different featured artist on the front cover. The magazine will contain information and interviews with the featured artist as well as a possible Q'n'A. The Q'n'A questions will come from the public.  Most of the artists featured will be up and coming artists from North London this will help my magazine and the artist gain a reputation and would mean more artists are willing to feature on my magazine. The artists being from North London keeps the magazine authentic and attracts London youth as it is relatable.
