1. Proposal For The First Statement

2. • The purpose of my rap artist magazine is to publicise the performances of rap
artists, who are performing at venues in north London through articles and new
information. The latest news will widen the audience whilst also trying to entertain
them.
• I feel that this will improve people's understandings on rap and give them a better
understanding. I aim to do this for specifically teenagers but also promote and
advertise the education about the genre to others interested.

3. • Form – Both available online and in print and is offered as a monthly subscription
(first month free). A single print version is accessible at £3.50 per magazine. The
magazine will also be 70 pages long.
• The online version will have more exclusive content to save paper however the
paper used will be recycle-able.
• Genre I’ve decided to use is rap. This is to expand rap to a wider audience and
keep the readers up to date with the latest news.
• To buy the magazine with your subscription at the shop you will scan your barcode
emailed to you or a paper voucher that is given to you when the subscription is
brought.

4. • The content included in the magazine are Interviews, Q&A, articles, news, quizzes
as well as posters.
• Up to date statistics including the top 50 songs and artists of the week to inform
the readers about new artists they may have not heard off. The barcodes next to
the top 10 will have links to Spotify and Apple music to discover new albums and
songs.
• New competitions to enter for the readers to win tickets to see their favourite
artists live, 1 on 1 interview with the chosen artist of the week and more.
• There will also be links in the magazine to our social media pages were you’ll be
able to comment on posts and ask questions to a chosen artist which will be
published in the next edition.

5. • For the magazine my primary target audience are 13-19 year olds that are boys
and girls coming from any background and ethnicity. I chose these ages as the
target audience as I feel that rap is directly aimed at teenagers and they would be
most likely want to stay updated with the music they listen to. This will also
develop the taste of their music whilst being able to share with other friends.
• My secondary target audience are 20-27 year olds who are still fairly young that
will enjoy reading about the evolution of rap music and comparing it to when they
grew up.
• Finally, my tertiary audience is anyone else of other ages who enjoy the music and
want to find out more about the artists.

6. The resources that I will use for the magazine are;
Computer - to upload the digital version of the magazine and to edit the interviews
and pictures on software's such as photoshop.
Camera equipment - to take the photoshoots off the artists and any other
advertisements. The equipment used includes drones, tripods and different lens for
different type of shots.
Photoshoot - a place to shoot with equipment used for lighting. Preferably a back
street or a deserted tunnel. This to have a professional look.
Editor - to edit each picture whilst also creating new ideas for the magazine. Creating

Printer - for the printing of the magazine, giving it a glossy look on the front cover.

7. Distribution and marketing methods
• Due to my target audience being young the best way to promote my magazine will be on social
media and in train stations attracting the attention. Platforms such as tiktok, Instagram and
Snapchat will be the main focus to inform the readers. Social media is free and with more people
using it I feel like this would be the best way.
• There will also be boards in the train stations promoting the rap magazine - this will be able to
reach all audiences and provide a bold look for those interested and others who are interested in
learning about about it.
• The distribution of my magazine is that they will be sold in all supermarkets and newsagent
giving good access to those who want to buy. It is also convenient for those who have shops
near school as it's easier for them to buy. The cost for the online version is 50p cheaper (£3) due
to us wanting to use less paper.

I chose the first font because the letters stand out with the t's
being curved more creating a unique effect which captures
the attention. It's also intended for big titles and headings.
The second font i chose is jersey m54 - i picked this font
because it's bold and stands out with the letters being
longer.
The last font is lemon milk and i selected this because it's
another bold font that's easy to read. It develops a modern
identity for the target audience.

11. My ideas for the article is to inform the readers about the updated news on artists.
This will be through interviews & Q&A about the artist and song of the week. The
readers will able to post their questions through social media. There will also be link
to the social media's for those buying a print version. As the magazine grows and
there's a bigger audience we will be able to interview bigger and more popular artists
and send questions in to them.
The latest news on the artists includes the top charts for rap music, which will have
the top 50 songs each with a link to listen to, the artist description and the album of
the song. This will help the readers discover new artists.
The weekly giveaways and competitions will give a chance to win exclusive tickets to a
concert of their choice and also other benefits.

artists performing – I will be using these types of photos on my Magazine cover

The two magazines I’d like to compete with are billboard and GQ style
– My aim is to start from the bottom are work my way up to reach a
bigger audience.
