2. the purpose of my magazine is essentially to entertain my readers. My
magazine idea is based on film genres; therefore, the purpose of the magazine
is to offer interesting content around this. My magazine intends to also offer
information on events and trends relating to film genres, for example, film
releases in North London cinema venues. Arguably, the magazine will try to
persuade readers to see the films that are recommended for each month.
3. My product will be in the form of a printed version of the film magazine
(approximately 40 pages) and an online version for audiences/ readers to
subscribe to
The magazine's genre will broadly be a film magazine and specifically, a
magazine focusing on a genre, with a North London focus on the production
and audience appeal.
This magazine will cost £2.50 for the physical version each month. The online
content will be free, apart from a 'film members only' section that will cost £3.
There will be a 6-month subscription deal, which will cost £12.
4. My magazine will produce a range of relevant content for the readers. For example, I can do article ideas on different
film genres like a timeline for specific genres, recent film releases, in-depth pieces on the development of film genres.
There will be exciting and exclusive interviews with filmmakers (camera, editors, directors) actors and film companies in
my double page spread
film reviews- these will offer film ratings and recommendations of recent film releases to encourage and inform readers.
advertising and sponsorship to raise money
my magazines USP is the special offers for readers/ subscribers to sign up for new streaming services, and/ or
discounts to film releases in North London venues- I will be working with selected cinemas in North London to promote
new films which are genre-based and offer my readers several promotional discounts.
The new streaming service will be called onthestream.com
The streaming service that exists that w will promote will be Disney+
The online website has a 'film members only' section, that offers them exclusive content and certain food for half price
when they choose to watch a film every Sunday evening. They will have a QR code and can scan this using their phone.
Also it will offer family discounts for family members, to encourage the 12-16-year-olds (target audience) to go and
watch films with their siblings and families.
my magazine will promote new independent films from different genres each month. this will be promoted by social
media such as Instagram and in local newsagent stores in North London.
5. The primary target audience for my magazine is (12-16). it is also targeted at
both males and females. this would be targeting class B to C2 this is because
they will have a little more disposable income and also people of these classes
a more cultured and will be interested in these films. this is good because it
will bring a lot of attraction to the magazine. I have chosen this target
audience as the content of my magazine will engage them this is because the
readers are interested in different independent companies and upcoming
films.
The secondary target audience for my magazine is (30-60). it is also targeted
at both males and females. this will be targeting class B this is because they
will have more money to spend and will be more open-minded to trying a
wider range of genres. This is great because my magazine makes sure to
focus on plenty of independent film companies from all different genres.
6. in order to make my magazine, I am going to need to use a computer so that I
can use photoshop to make the different designs for each month, front cover
and double-page spread. Before I start that I am going to need to sketch out
my ideas of what my magazine will look like, therefore, I will also need pens
and paper for my hand-drawn sketches.
for my personnel, I will need a designer to help me create all my ideas and
bring them together, so my magazine looks exactly how I imagine but better. I
will need an editor for my magazine as there will be bits of the magazine that
will need to be edited, features for each month and I will need to decide on a
structure.
7. Each month people that are on our VIP list will get early shipping straight to their
houses. For others that have not subscribed. they will have to buy the magazine
in local shops in North London. I could also distribute the magazine to local film
festivals in North London, offering them the first 5 pages of the magazine, with a
subscription leaflet so they know how and where to buy the magazine.
for marketing and promoting my magazine, we will have copies of posters going
around in local coffee shops, on busses and over social media such as Instagram
and I have some popular influencers advertising it. I am also thinking about
teaming up with radio channels to promote my magazine, especially radio
stations that my target audience will listen to such as Capital FM (but the more
local stations). I could also team up with Spotify as people who enjoy watching
films tend to be more cultured and therefore would also enjoy music. Having
some Spotify adverts throughout film podcasts would be a good way to market
the magazine.
