3. PURPOSE OF MAGAZINE.
• The purpose of my Jazz magazine is to spread awareness for
unknown and up and coming artist that would, without
magazines such as mine, been ignored and not given a chance
to show their talent to the world, I believe that there are so
many underrated Jazz artists out there but as there are not
many popular Jazz magazine, not many of them ever get
noticed or recognised for their talent. My magazine will give
those unknown artist a chance to show what they can do to an
hopefully large audience, My magazine will include interviews,
Q&A, and up and coming events for artists.
•
4. FORM AND GENRE OF THIS PRODUCT.
• The genre of this magazine will be Jazz, i have made a Jazz
magazine in an attempt to get younger people more involved
in Jazz, as before hand, Jazz has been typical for the older
generation, And as Jazz is rapidly increasing, i want to have my
magazine out and ready for purchase, hopefully making the
most popular Jazz magazine on the market. My magazine will
have a website (www.apazzjazz.com) , The website will include
sneak peaks at new events and up and coming artists to try and
attract new readers and knew people that share the same
interest for Jazz.
•
5. CONTENT.
• In my magazine, I will include things such as Q&As, Interviews,
underrated artists, up and coming events and so much more they will
be very detailed in the attempt to entice new people that have the
same interest in Jazz as others that are already interested. There will be
many Jazz artist in the magazine to fit the types of all the readers. The
aim of this is to use a lot of eye catching things such as eye catching
adverts and reviews that will really grasp the eyes of young Jazz lovers.
I will also be including a lot of young artist so that the young readers
can really connect with the artist making them more likely to keep
reading. The magazine will have 120 – 140 pages for the reader to
enjoy.

Q&A
6. TARGET AUDIENCE.
• My primary audience is 18-24 year old, all races such as black, white
and Asian, male and female, these people would be middle class and
maybe upper middle, some would say that this is a weakness, But i
think that by changing old fashioned and boring Jazz magazines into
fun, modern magazines, more young people will want to get
involved in Jazz, I will do this by focusing on introducing younger artist
to connect with the younger audience, using more colourful fonts and
typefaces, including lots of images to keep a younger audience
reading, i will also be including things such as big speech bubbles and
big images as a way to keep the younger audience intrigued in my
magazine. My secondary audience is older, black men and women
with ages from 50 upwards, the secondary audiences are typically
lower class as that's what happened and the place it originated in was
full of lower class, black men.
USP
7. RESOURCES AND PERSONNEL.
• I will be using resources such as Photoshop, printers, camera,
photographer, try-pod. I will use all of this to create clear and precise
images for the reader to have the best experience. I will also therefore
need a camera man, a designer, a model, a graphic designer. i will use
these resources and personnel to create a vibrant and exiting
magazine for my young readers. The aim of using these professionals
to help me build up my magazine is to insure that I create the best
and exiting experience for my young audience, this will make my
magazine different and unique compared to other very mondain and
boring Jazz magazines..
•
8. DISTRIBUTION AND MARKETING
METHODS.
• My magazine will be sold in multiple places, for example, Jazz bars, cafes
and clubs. I m doing this in an attempt to get others who are interested in
jazz to purchase and read the magazine. It will also be sold on the internet
for people and families that can't necessarily afford to go to Jazz events
and or bars. This allows my magazine to be able for everyone to enjoy
the music that they love, no matter on their background or financial issues,
keeping to this theme, the magazine will be very reasonably priced starting
at £3.79. This done to make all the readers feel as they can read bout the
music that they love without having to have the money to do so. The Jazz
community has always been a very close community, but its about time
that we include the younger generation in that community.

9. SAMPLE MATERIALS
• Font for masthead - I have chosen this font for the name of my
magazine because it is very big and outstanding, catching the
readers attention instantly when looking at the front cover of the
magazine. It is also very similar to Jazz music with things such as
curly letter, fun and exiting fonts, it is also very smooth and
methodical, matching the aesthetic of Jazz itself. Its fun and exiting
nature will appeal to the younger audience i am aiming the
magazine at.
• I have chosen this font for my Coverline as it
is very easy to read, this is important as this
text will be very small in the double page
spread, therefore it is important that the
reader doesn't have to worry about not
being able to read the most important part
of the magazine
I have chosen this font for the name of the artist i will be
featuring as it is very very big and bold, as this will be on
the top of the double page spread, it needs to be able to
catch the attention of the reader and draw them into the
magazine, if the name of their favourite artist's name is
written in small a d dull letters, they are not going to want
to read on as young people want big and exiting things.
10. COLOUR SCHEME.
• The colour scheme of my magazine is going to be bright and
vibrant colours, i am do this to try and grab the attention of the
younger audience, the colours that i will be using are red, white,
blue and black. The reason why i am using black to counter the
bright colours as black is very commonly used in Jazz magazines
as it fits the very smooth and calming tone of the music itself, but
on the other hand i am using brighter colours to create more of a
fun and modern feel for my target audience, i also think that this is
a USP ( unique selling point ) as not many Jazz magazines use
brighter colours as their colour scheme.
•
11. COMPETITION
• As there are not many Jazz magazines that target the younger
audience, my USP is that i am one of the only Jazz magazines
target ages 18-24 age group, my magazine should therefore
stand out in the Jazz magazine industry. The main magazines in
the industry are Jazzwise and Jazztimes.
•
12. ARTICLE IDEAS.
• In the articles, I will be including things such as interviews, These
interviews will be if young and upcoming artist, it will be about
their most recent event and there upcoming shows, the artists that
i will be showing in the interviews are going to be new, fun and
fresh, i am doing this so that the young reader is able to connect
with the artists as they are similar to their age group. I will also be
including Q&As. These will have fun and exiting question for the
reader to read all throughout the magazine.
