1) The main product is a music video for the song "The Last of the Real Ones" by Fall Out Boy, and ancillary texts include a music magazine advert and digipak based on the song.
2) The main connection between the products is the inclusion of the lead singer actor, who appears in both the music video and photos used in the ancillary texts.
3) The digipak features a live DVD to give fans the experience of seeing the band perform and encourage interest in future tours.
2. • Our main products is a music video we created for the song ‘The Last of
the Real Ones’ by Fall Out Boy. We also created a music magazine
advert and digipak based around the song.
3. • One of the main connections my main product and ancillary texts have
with each other is the inclusion of the ‘lead singer’ of the band. We chose
an actor to play the lead male character of our music video, we also
decided that we would make him appear as the lead singer of the band.
We also used two other actors to appear in photos which we used for the
digipak and the magazine advert. By having the band members wear the
same clothing in the photos of both ancillary texts it creates synergy
between the two, it also means that the audience will easily be able to
recognise that the two products are related. The use of band members
appearing on the magazine advert will help sell the album as fans will be
able to recognise them.

5. • Our digipak also features a live DVD, this will help sell the album as it is
an extra feature that people can engage with. This reinforces the bands
image because as a rock band they focus on the importance of playing
their own instruments. It also gives fans to experience the see the band
performing the songs on the album, which could encourage interest in
any future tours the band may hold.
6. • For both ancillary texts we had a colour scheme of purple, we took
inspiration from the Mania album by Fall Out Boy which also follows this
colour scheme. Purple is a colour which people associate with rock
music as it is bold yet dark, therefore this reinforces their image of being
a rock band. For our music video we colour graded it to have to be
darker and slightly dull, which reflects the sinister storyline. Whilst we
didn’t include the colour purple in our video, it reflects the digipak
which also uses black for 3 of the inside panels and the back cover
which is a shot taken at night.
7. • We created a logo which was inspired for the artwork of the front cover
for the single ‘Centuries’ by Fall Out Boy. This logo was used in the
magazine advert and on the front cover of our digipak. This reinforces
the bands image as it is something that people can associate with band,
and even those that are not familiar with them may start to recognise it.
8. • Our digipak includes a ‘many thanks to…’ panel,
this includes paragraphs which were written by
each of the band members. By including this it is
an extra feature for fans, which allows them to
learn more about the members.
9. • Through my main product and ancillary texts there a few themes that
run through them. One for example is the inclusion of flowers, in my
music video a bouquet of flowers are held by the main male character
throughout and in the digipak flowers are used for the CD and DVD. We
included this theme as we felt it linked together the narrative of the
music video, as flowers have connotations of romance and death, and
the songs included on the album.
