Promoting Music Festival
1.
2. Proposal
This is my proposal for
my poster print based
advertisement. This
includes my aims and
objectives and the
audience theories behind
the main demographic
that I will be aiming at. In
addition to this, I briefly
talk about my campaign
message.
3. Mind map

Marketing
In order to market my music festival, I will be
making a poster that gives details on the date
and who will be performing on what days. I
will also include a hash tag at the bottom of
my poster so that people can share and find
out about the music festival across social
media platforms.
Target audience:
The general atmosphere of a music festival
may be too much for somebody under the
age of 16, second to this people of the age of
25 may feel too sophisticated and grown up
for a music festival. Therefor, my target
audience will be young adults.
Logo names
The name I will be using is
Vibe. This is because it
describes a distinct
atmosphere and also has
conations with a vibration
from a piece of music.
Slogans
Green
Black
White
The slogan we will be using is a hash tag.
This is because people will search up the
hash tag on which ever social media they
prefer to find out more.
6. Draft layouts
These are the hand drawn drafts for the poster that I will be using to market
and promote my festival. By creating drafts before the poster, it means that
you will be more organized and know what you are doing when putting the
poster together. This means that the poster will be completed more
efficiently and will look more professional as it has already been planned.
7. Logo design
The logo is in a bold white font against
a dark background. This makes the
name of the festival pop out to the
audience as the colour of the font
contrasts with the dark background,
making it very visible to people. This
makes the name of our festival stand
out more, therefor it will be more
memorable.
8. Photo-shoot plan
This is my photo-shoot plan for my print based advertisement. This is how I
will plan out and organize how I will go about getting the images that I need.
It is rather brief as I just need a landscape image to base my print based
advertisements image off of.
9. House styles
The house style which I will be are colors that contrast with each
other in order to capture the attention of the target audience. As
the core audience will be young adults, I will not be using too
many vibrant colors as this can be seen as childish and our
audience may dismiss it. Therefor, by using darker colours on the
poster, it will come across as more mature, therefor reaching our
target audience of young adults.
10. Main headline/ Artists
I will be using a variety of artists. Both Global and ones who are
predominantly known within the UK. This is so that there is a good mix of the
kind of music that will be played, all though they are in the same genre. For
example, US rap is slightly different to UK rap. Therefor, getting a wide range
of artists from places outside of the UK would be good. Especially in a festival

13. Calendar events
The launch is in June, which is good as it the
start of summer, when the whether is getting
better and people want to make plans to make
the most of the warmer months.
14. Location scheduling of advertisements
I will be putting the posters at bus stops around London and in
some newsagents windows. This is good as many people get
public transport in London, therefore there will be a very high
footfall. This can be completed through paying people to go
around putting the posters up or paying a local business owner a
small fee in order to put the poster up in their shop window. For
example, in the Brixton or Camden area as this is where most
festival goers go.
15. Location Recce
Before going out to take
the photos, I need to
complete a Location Recce.
This is so that we are more
organized when it comes to
shooting. Silly things wont
be forgotten such as
camera gear and hazards.
This also increases the
safety of shooting as
potential risks have been
taken into account and
everything has been more
well organized.
16. Draft Photos
These are two of the images that I will possibly be basing the image on my
poster around. The model in the image will be used to design a silhouette
similar to the models frame of somebody for the poster. The quality of these
images are good and I will be able to easily edit them using photoshop due to
the black clothing worn by the model. This makes it easier to crop the model
out if need be.
17. Budget Summary Equipment Cost
Office space £7.40 per day
Apple MacBook pro x4 £1,124.00 each
£3,372 total
Desk x8 £59.99 each
£479.92 total
Chairs x8 £25.00 each
£200 total
Adobe creative cloud collection £1500
Staff Salary
Editors £12.32 per hour
Designers £10.21 per hour
Photographers £24.59 per hour
Human Resources (HR) £10.12 per hour
Advertising the festival by putting the
magazine into a magazine would cost
around £400 at the least and £3000 to
advertise in bigger magazines such as Q
and NME. It would be a better idea to
advertise in a magazine with weekly
circulation, all though this would cost
more it means that more people would
see the advertisement, resulting in larger
brand recognition. Therefor, more people
will turn up to the festival, making it more
successful. The total cost of the printing
was cheaper than expected at £23.35.
This is relatively cheap given how much
we are spending on other things.
18. Risk assessment
Photography risk assessment
The location these photos were taken was in a market. The potential hazard
and risk of this is pedestrians walking through the shot.
Area risk assessment
The location these photos were taken was in a market. The potential hazard
and risk of this is pedestrians walking through the shot.
Software Risk assessment (resizing image)
One potential risk of using software such as Photoshop is that when you are
resizing images. This is because images can become stretched or pixilated if
you make a small image too large or do not hold shift when resizing an image.
19. Issues (Regulatory & Legal, Ethical
Watermarking: some images may be watermarked in order to prevent people
from stealing the image. It allows the creator to advertise their work without it
being stolen and used for plagiarism. A watermark is essentially the owners name
across one of their intellectual properties.
The Data Protection act: The data protection act controls how a company uses
your private information . There are strict rules called ‘data protection principles,
this insures that information is used in a fair and secure legal way that is accurate.
This information must also be kept safe and secure so people private information
does not get leaked.
Ethical issues: when creating a festival poster, some consequences may arise after
its release to the public. Firstly, if the poster has a model on it, that person must
be over the age of 18, if they are not then we will need the parent/guardians
consent. Any potential offense such as age, gender, race and religion etc must be
taken into account. This is because if these are not taken into account and a group
of people get offended, it gives the festival a bad reputation.
ASA- The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is who regulates advertisements
that are broadcasted to the general public to make sure advertisers are abiding by
the law and being ethically correct.
20. Copyright
The copyright law 1998 was set up in order to protect
any creative work and their creators. If something is not
protected by copyright, it is available for use by anyone
without consent. If someone has copyright ownership
over any material, in order to use this material for
anything one must get consent from the creator. When
there is an infringement, only th owner or their
exclusive licensee can bring proceedings in the courts
against said infringement.

21. Audio-Visual advertisement
If I was to create an audio-visual advertisement for my festival, I would use
social medias such as Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter to upload short clips in
order to advertise my festival. I would feature some of the main headliners in
these videos, telling their fans to come and watch them with other great
artists perform. Having these videos uploaded to social media during the
weeks, maybe even months leading up to the festival will allow the festival to
become bigger and more well known due to people sharing these videos
(word of mouth). This is good as it means that more people will know about
the festival, therefore more people will attend the festival.
