2. Százhalombatta
• One of the most important towns of the south Buda
region.
• 30 km from Budapest, 18000 residents.
• Town’s history dates back to 4000 years.
• Meaning of the name: "one hundred tumuli"
Referring to the tumulus field at the edge of the town.

3. History of the town
• Neolithic age: first settlement
• Százhalombatta rapidly developed from 1958 and it became a
town in 1970. Power station, Mol Oil Refinery.

4. Major sights
• Archeological park
• Matrica museum
• Beautiful churches
• Roman ruins

5. St Stephen square
• It is the bustling center of the city. It was rebuilt in 2010.
• It hosts numerous events.
• Our school is located next to it.

6. Cultural life
• Folk dance group: Forrás
• Summerfest, the most important folklore festival of Hungary
with 20 participating countries every year.

7. International relations
• In 2011 Százhalombatta won the „Hungary in bloom” contest and
in 2012 won second place in the international competition.
• Százhalombatta is twinned with:

Sannazzaro de' burgondi, Italy
Brzesko, Poland

• Our school is located in the centre of
Százhalombatta, in the main square.
• The current headmaster is dr. Horváthné
dr. Hidegh Anikó.
• It is named after a famous poet of the
19th century, Arany János.
• There are about 50 classrooms on 3
floors.
• There are about 850 students and 84
teachers teach here.
• It was established in 1985. This year we
are celebrating the 33rd anniversary.
