Greece 1st senior high school of kaisariani chance_1
1. 1st Senior High School of Kaisariani
School Presentation, Location and History
Erasmus+ C.H.A.N.C.E.
2. History and National Resistance
Before presenting our school, it is worth taking
A blink into the past…
Kaisariani is an urban town and it is located
three kilometers east of the center of
Athens.
The area was inhabited by the refugees who
came to Greece after the Asia Minor War
in 1922. A sad page of contemporary
Greek history was written at the
‘Skopeftirio Kessariani’ , which was the
site of Greek executions during the
German Occupation.
4. Education
There are 7 elementary schools in
Kaisariani. Also, in Kaisariani there are
2 Junior High schools, 2 Senior High
Schools and 1 vocational high school.
The 1st elementary school of Kessariani
was built in 1930 and was donated by
Elena Venizelou, wife of the former
Prime Minister of Greece, Eleftherios
Venizelos.

7. Erasmus +
• Erasmus+ projects have always been the springboard for innovation
for us.
• What does cultural heritage mean to us?
I work enthusiastically on my
subject, trying to link the past
with the present and with the
European reality, because I
consider classical studies to be
the cultural heritage of the whole
of Europe. Classical studies
include Ancient Greek and also
Latin, languages in which the most
important literature in the world
has been written ever!
(Angleliki, Greek language
teacher).
Culture helps us perceive the
world, interpret our
environment and, thus, place
ourselves in it.
It creates our identity both on
a personal as well as on a
national level. Cultural heritage
becomes a symbol for a people’s
identity in the era of
globalization. It is through
cultural heritage that students
in the EU appreciate
“otherness” (Smaro, Greek
language teacher).
