Day 2 Lesson Plan/ASSURE
Day 2 – Pendulum
Students will participate in a hands-on activity. I will have three sets of three different
sizes of string. One string in each set will have the same object tied to it. I will swing
them back and forth by hand in front of the class, and together, we will compare how the
different sizes of string affect the swing, as well as how the weight affects the swing.
A- Analyze the Learner
I will be teaching this unit plan to a group of 22 first graders. There are 11 boys and 11
girls. There are 21 white students and 1 African American. Most of my students come
from middle upper class families, however there are several students that come from
families of a lower socioeconomic status.
S- State Objectives
My students will demonstrate knowledge of a pendulum after viewing a poster,
participating in a hands on activities, and discussing/recording our results by the end of
the day with 85% accuracy.
S- Selection of Media, Method, and Material
I will present my edited photo about pendulums to the class before we begin the lesson. I
will be using three sets of three different sizes of string, as well as three different objects.
U- Utilize Media and Materials
Before class, I will set up all materials needed for the activities, including tying the
objects to the string and an example of a pendulum. To begin the lesson, I will present
the photo that I created to get enhance understanding about what they will be learning.
R- Require Learner Participation
Next, we will start on the activity, which will be done by me in front of the class. We
will discuss our results as a class, and we will record our answers in a journal for students
to keep track of what they have learned.
E- Evaluate and Revise
