Week four

Peek at the Week:
o This week in Reading, we started our chapter that
focused on short vowel sound of the letter “i”
after we completed our sound instruction of the
letter /m/.
o Our new high frequency word is “said”.
o During Math, we worked on the numbers 7, 8 and
9. Students are doing very well with using two
color counters to make different combinations of
each number.
o In Science, we discussed what animals need to
survive.
o The students were introduced to the letter Ii in
handwriting.
o During Social Studies, we are finishing up the
idea of economics (making money, paying bills
and needs/wants).
Coming Up:
o Next week in reading, we will finish
working on the short vowel /i/.
Students will work on blending it with
the other sounds we know (m, d, s, n
and a.
o In math, we will continue to explore
Unit Three. The students will finish
this unit and review/test after the
holiday.
o During Science the students will be
discussing how animals grow and
change as they mature.
o During Social Studies, we will begin
talking about the different types of
transportation to take us places.
