1. Assure Assignment
Stephanie Albright
Assure Method:
A: Analyze Learners
My students are age range from 10 to 19 years ofage with 8 males and 7 females. They are all
originally from Russia, but are able to understand and speak English. Their learning style will be variations
of auditory and sensory because they are all visually impaired. Specific competencies weren’tspecified, but
based on their age ranges and all have mastered English as a second language, Ican imagine them all
being ofaverage ability and I will observe more and adjustas needed.
S: State Objectives
My students will recite the date the United States gained its independence and the events that
proceeded. They will also be able to compare and contrastthe similarities and differences between how
Russia gained its independence and how vs how the United States gained its independence and how by:
singing, story-telling, and textural references. They will complete this by the end ofthe summer with 95%
accuracy.
S: SelectMethods, Media, and Materials.
To complete my objectives Iwill need auditory aided tapes with information aboutnot only our
independence butalso aboutthe Russian independence journey. We will sing sings aboutthe subjectin
order to help them retain the information. I will also need videos for them to listen to, and reading materials
to suit the needs ofmy students being thatthey are visually impaired. Iwill also need elements they can
feel so help them understand the conceptofthe things we use to celebrate such as fireworks.
U: Utilize Media and Materials
I would utilize media such as YouTube to allow them to hear videos describing the events that go
along with our unit and that follow the lessons in their books.Iwould also use tapes to letthem listen to
songs and how the songs effectthe mood and bring home the pointofthe assignment. I would also use
materials such as pop- rocks and even pom poms to help them better understand fireworks.
R: Require Learner Participation
To require participation, I would make each ofthe activities worth a small amount ofpoints to go
towards their grade should they choose to follow along with the class. I also would try to make it an
enjoyable experience overall and use myselfas an example to help them getmore into it.
E: Evaluate and Revise
To evaluate, a projectwill take place the last week ofclass. I would choose to notdo a written or
oral testbut rather a presentation done by the students on a piece ofthe topic oftheir choice to see what
they have learned and make sure they have met their objective outcomes.
