Stress Inoculation Training is a cognitive behavioral technique used to help people build resilience to stress. It involves three phases: conceptualization, skills development and practice, and application. In the skills development phase, relaxation techniques like deep breathing and muscle relaxation are taught and practiced. These skills are then applied to real-life stressful situations. The training improves coping skills and promotes positive self-talk. Developing a personalized stress inoculation plan involves identifying stressors, developing coping strategies using relaxation and positive self-talk, rehearsing responses, implementing the plan, and evaluating and improving the plan over time. Regular practice of these skills and plans helps build tolerance to stress.
